  1. Will Genesis Part 1 help improve The Center? With all the water based things coming into genesis do you think it'll help improve the center? It seems the center is the most hated of the 3 mod maps and I can understand why considering: 1.You can't build a waterproof underwater mobile base on the plesiosaur or mosa platform saddles due to them not allowing vacuum compartments which they SHOULD be allowed to be built on since it wouldn't take much away from the third genesis bullet point since you can build with anything on that. 2.The map has no unique creatures or items to entice players to move more into the water unlike valguero and ragnarok with their own custom creatures and items. 3.The ocean on The Center is DEEP like 3x deeper than the ocean on The Island (and that's not much of a exaggeration) and considering you cant build a water proof underwater base most of the time people cant even get down there and explore which is a shame because I've went down to the bottom and it's very unique and nice but as of right now there not much to help people survive down there. 4.alot of the map is covered in water so its definitely a large part of the map and considering the map has nothing unique to it other than very pretty looks it definitely suffers. With genesis however were getting: 1.Fishing Nets to help catch fish. 2.There are 2 kinds of Ocean Platforms to build bases on which will help players expand more into the water to build sea bases. 3.There is the new giant turtle which makes a air bubble around it allowing players to make water proof underwater bases finally with any building materials. 4.There is probably more that will pop up involving the water like more items and creatures since not everything is revealed and I doubt were just getting 2 new water creatures (the giant turtle and the Moeder water boss) which would be anticlimactic considering how much they've been talking about the water if we just get 2 new creatures and only 1 is tamable. Hopefully after Genesis Part 1 releases it'll help improve The Center and make it a better map because its definitely the weakest link of the 3 (personally I think it's the most beautiful of the 3 maps but there's such a lack of content compared to Valguero and Ragnarok that it drags behind them).
  2. GhostCreep

    Next TLC?

Next TLC? Does anybody else think that with the new water biome supposedly coming in Genesis that it would of been a good idea to TLC the water dinos in major need like the Megalodon and the Plesi beforehand? I feel that was a real missed opportunity to give the community somethings they have been asking for since the first TLCs. Does anybody else feel the same?
  3. Pixellated water, how to fix? GTX 1060 with default Nvidia CP settings, and high-qual Ark settings. How can I fix the pixellated water? The trees also do it as you move or they move in the wind. Any ideas?
  4. Dino Costumes Ideas and Accesories I want more Dino Costumes such as Tek and bone skins but would also like to suggest Abberant and Corrupted skins as well as some made up ideas such as - like a misty Ghost pretty see through -Elemental like, Fire, ice, air, water, earth Ex: Raptors could look hellish with flames, Triceratops could be like electric and have their horns constantly sparking, Stegosaurs could be earthy like with thorns instead of blades on their backs etc (would be completely cosmetic) Other ideas would be like - Cartoony where they would be fluffy with big eyes and stuff, Demonic/Angelic, - Accessories like Horns, Halos, glows/Aura, fire flies, stripes (neon), bats, wings, shoes, fancy, etc
  5. put the option to give points to the speed of the Flying Dinos and that some official servers pve are x4 the tame
  6. I will probably be adding new ideas to this in the future. While playing ARK, I have noticed that the water is very dull. I never go diving unless I'm gathering pearls or exploring an underwater cave. This has given me a few ideas to make ARK's oceans more interesting. New water based map with... -New biomes: underwater volcanoes, kelp forests, reefs, trenches -A few small islands for spawning, obelisks, and gathering land resources such as wood. -New creatures: octopus (shoulder-mounted, can camouflage), helicoprion, giant sea turtle, sea snail, crabs (shoulder-mounted), flying fish (can jump out of water and glide short distances), small tameable jellyfish, narwhal -New items and structures: submarine, airtight diving cage (can be lowered deep into the water from a raft, gives oxygen when inside it), airtight building structures (don't require tek vacuum compartments), ventilation pipes (used to carry fresh, breathable air to underwater bases), rubber or sealant (for building anything airtight) -TLC's for current water dinos in the game Be aware that these are just a few beginning ideas. Many of these ideas may not work, and/or many new ideas could come up. Also be sure to reply with more ideas anyone may have to add to this. I also think the new creatures listed here should be added to the other maps to improve all the water environments.
  7. Hi guys I think an underwater tlc is needed, I used to get nervous going underwater but now it feels empty and just not as exciting as it was, so here's a list of suggestions that I would like to see hope the community agrees Megaladons need a tlc (larger, fewer, bleed effect or melee boost after kill) Plesiosaur + Mosasaur (a new skin rework + animations) Underwater base building (a pump so metal bases don't flood but takes alot of resources to build cause tek is end game and not easily accessible, port hole frame and windows, only metal bases with water pump can prevent flooding stone wood ect will flood any way) Liopleurodon ( please make a permanent tame) New dinos (would be nice to see something new in the water something to get people back in there) Underwater balloon that boosts you to the surface or deflates to sink you to the bottom can attach to your base That's all I got hope people can add some suggestions thanks for taking the time to read this
  8. Water Mech is borken on Aber not sure about the other servers ! the water canteen comes up Broken and the action to Drink no longer fills water... you have to throw yourself in the pool @Chris @Jen, seems to be after the last update ! not sure whats going on there ! head up on it !
  9. First I'd like to apologize if this has been listed elsewhere, if it has been I could not find it. I'll get right into it... While playing I encountered an issue where, if I equip an entire set of Tek Armor and submerge under water, the water renders (or rather doesn't render) invisible. I did extensive searching and only found this similarly described as a config setting to make water do this, a lot of it debate if it's fair or not, and seemingly only PC... but I'm on ps4. However, this seems unrelated to configs because I've never altered anything related to water to my knowledge. I've tried eliminating bloom and light glare (ps4 user, we can't so don't bother trying). Now the debug phase began when I tried to revert anything that may have made this glitch occur, and nothing fixed it. I thought maybe something on the server got messy, so I rented an entirely new server and still had the issue with all default configs. I thought maybe it's my game, I deleted my game, my saves, and my local settings... basically wiped all Ark content... I thought I had fixed it as it was no longer happening, that is until I re-equipped my entire tek armor and it happened again and again. Any single piece can be removed and everything renders normally, but once you equip that 5th of 5 pieces underwater becomes clear as sky. The only workaround I found is equip Flak boots so I still LOOK like I'm in tek but I'm not so I can have water function visibly. For details sake, I was on ragnarok on a g-portal rented server when I first encountered this weird issue.
  10. Something is broken with Lair of the mask water, the underwater cave near blue obelisk. If you fly with a griffin inside the cave, you'll produce annoying water ripples everywhere. Also it's impossible to "land" a pelagornis on the water surface, as it just bounces.
  11. When playing split-screen on Ark Survival on the PS4 when player two enters the water on Extenction, Abberation, and Ragnarock their screen gets blued-out until either player one gets into the water or player two gets out of the water. Another problem is that the Managarmr, when riden by player two, shoots at player one instead of where it is supposed to.

    Electrophorus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Electrophorus Species: Electrophorus Beluadomito Time: Holocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Reactive Wild: Occupying a space in the low-to-middle end of the food chain, Electrophorus beluadomito is a carnivorous swimmer that feeds mostly off of shellfish and small fish. Despite its common name, it is actually a very long knifefish, and not an eel. It does not provide much meat, so many predators simply leave it be. Unlike most predators, it does not use brute strength to bring down its prey, but instead releases an electrical charge around itself to knock its prey unconscious. Alone, this can take out a small creature. When attacking together, Electrophorus can even bring down the larger ocean lifeforms, then feed as a group. Domesticated: By far, the most common use of Electrophorus is to subdue large ocean creatures. Knocking out a Plesiosaur or other giant deep-sea leviathan can be incredibly difficult, thus many tribes employ small schools of Electrophorusto shock targets into submission!

    Kaprosuchus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Kaprosuchus Species: Kaprosuchus Paludentium Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: A smaller relative of the Sarcosuchus, Kaprosuchus Paludentium is water-based carnivore primarily found lurking among The Island's swamps. A naturally fast runner that is even faster in the water, it is a solitary hunter that picks off small-to-medium creatures especially those isolated from their pack. When attacking Kaprosuchus uses two main tactics. First, it patiently waits below the water surface and when the target is sufficiently close by, will perform a lateral jump that it uses to quickly close the distance with its prey and drag it underwater. Secondly, its attacks target the prey's vital areas specifically to drain its stamina. These two techniques effectively prevent most creatures from escaping Kaprosuchus once an assault has begun. Domesticated: Survivors are generally split about the usefulness of Kaprosuchus. Some love its speed both in and out of the water, essentially making it among the fastest small-sized all-terrain mounts when travelling through the wetlands. Others do not like how relatively frail Kaprosuchus is, and do not think its high speed and damaging attacks make up for this shortcoming.

    Dossier: Ammonite

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Ammonite Species: Ammonitina Multiamicus Time: Late Jurassic - Mid Cretaceous Diet: Bottom Feeder Temperament: Passive Wild: Usually found in the deepest parts of the waters around the island, Ammonitina Multiamicus has a strange relationship with the other creatures of the deep. It must do something beneficial for them, since every nearby sea creature defends Ammonitina when it is attacked. What this distinct symbiosis is based on, alas, I have not yet discovered. Ammonitina has also made its way into the deeper parts of underwater caves. Even within these caves, the creature will draw attention if assaulted, making harvesting its resource-rich shell a tricky proposition depending on what other dangers may be lurking nearby. Domesticated: Like many of the untamable ocean dwellers, Ammonitina still has enough utility to be a valuable hunting target. If a tribe is willing to risk the wrath of nearby would-be protectors, Ammonitina bile can be harvested from it’s corpse’s innards. This bile can be worked over with other chemicals to make many powerful concoctions, usually antidotes against the most powerful poisons and illnesses. Its shell meanwhile, is rich in rare materials, presumably due to the creature’s unique place along the Island’s food chain.

    Diplocaulus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Diplocaulus Species: Diplocaulus Natatorinutrix Time: Permian Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Skittish Wild: Presiding almost solely within island's swamps, Diplocaulus Natatorinutrix is a small amphibian that primarily eats minor fish. It rounds out what I consider the middle-bottom of the ecosystem, feeding on the tinier non-insect creatures of the island while itself being a common snack for the larger carnivores. Because so many creatures prey on it, Diplocaulus has become very skittish and often flees at the first sign of trouble. It uses its amphibious nature to escape into whichever environment its predator isn't native to. Diplocaulus unique capability to retain vast quantities of oxygen allows to effectively remain submerged for hours at a time, usually outlasting even other amphibious creatures that might otherwise prey upon it. Domesticated: There are only a few uses for tamed Diplocaulus. It is primarily used for the (rather disgusting) practice of employing Diplocaulus as an oxygen bag. Diplocaulus stores air in the bladders of its head, and divers can suck from these bladders to take deep breaths while submerged, supporting long-term underwater exploration without the use of external gear.

    Dunkleosteus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Dunkleosteus Species: Dunkleosteus Loricaruptor Time: Late Devonian Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Dunkleosteus Loricaruptor is a very strange creature. It is a fairly large fish, covered head to tail in armored plates, with incredibly powerful jaws. It tends to eat the islands' water-dwelling crustaceans, as it not fast enough to catch most of the smaller fish. Dunkleosteus is a surprisingly combat-oriented for a fish. Its well-armored body protects it from many creatures, while its bite is strong enough to easily crush through chitinous shells. Domesticated: Dunkleosteus is an incredibly useful fish for coastal communities. Its powerful jaws make short work of the stone and oil formations found throughout the oceanic depths. While harvesting, Dunkleosteus can handily defend its rider from all but the largest threats in the waters. And once past its prime, the Dunkleosteus can be harvested for a fair amount of Chitin.

    Eurypterid

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Eurypterid Species: Jaekelopterus Euryperus Time: Silurian Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive if approached Wild: Found only in the deepest depths of the waters around the island, Eurypterids are dangerous and adaptable Arthropods. As likely to hunt as they are to scavenge, a Eurypterid rarely has difficulty finding food to keep itself nourished, even at the bottom of the ocean. A Eurypterid’s threat does comes not directly from its raw strength. Instead, it combines a hard defensive exoskeleton with debilitating poison to powerful effect. The sting of a Eurypterid increases torpor while reducing stamina, quickly rendering its opponent unable to defend itself. Domesticated: While Eurypterid are not intelligent enough to be tamed, this doesn't mean they are without utility for tribes. They are a wonderful source of Chitin, and their digestive tract often contain Silica Pearls. They sometimes even have incredibly rare Black Pearls used for manufacturing mysterious technologies, making them among the most valuable creatures on the island.

    Ichthyosaurus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Ichthy Species: Ichthyosaurus curiosa Time: Late Triassic - Early Jurassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Curious Wild: Ichthyosaurus curiosa is a comparatively small carnivore found in the waters around the island. It is slightly larger than a human, but that’s still small compared to the leviathans roaming these waters. It seems to be very interested in any creature around its size, often approaching and following humans swimming through its waters. Despite its appearance, the Ichthyosaurus is neither a fish nor an ocean mammal. Like many creatures in the waters around the island, it is actually an aquatic reptile. Domesticated: I can’t think of a better mount for someone starting to explore the island’s seas and waterways. Ichthyosaurus is comparatively fast swimmer, and even in the wild will cozy right up to you and try to figure out what you’re doing. Taming these is actually pretty easy, as they seem to love humans and will be fed and tamed without the use of violence.

    Liopleurodon

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Liopleurodon Species: Liopleurodon Magicus Time: Mid-Late Jurassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Patient Wild: Liopleurodon Magicus is a mid-sized ocean predator. Typically between 20 and 25 feet long, it mostly hides within the reefs, waiting to ambush prey that swims by. Due to its low acceleration and medium speed, Liopleurodon tends not to chase prey that escape its initial devastating chomp attack. The species on the island almost seems, to be magical. The reptiles skin secretes an oil that, when absorbed through skin contact, makes the rider process oxygen more efficiently for extreme diving. When traveling the ocean for resources Liopleurodon will show you the way. Domesticated: Neither the fastest swimmer, nor the most powerful ocean predator, Liopleurodon still has its uses for those wanting to stay underwater for extended periods of time. Many tribes use Liopleurodon for long duration oil-and-oyster harvesting trips. Often, those who don't believe in the Liopleurodons qualities are shunned.

    Megalodon

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Megalodon Species: Carcharodon ultramegalodon Time: Miocene-Pliocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Were it not restricted to the waters, Carcharodon ultramegalodon might be the most dangerous creature on the island. As powerful and dangerous as the Tyrannosaurus is on land, Megalodon is its equal in the water. In addition, it has a speed advantage over any non-aquatic creature. Megalodons need large quantities of food to sustain themselves, so they attack most creatures immediately on sight. Smaller fish are the sole exception I've seen; I believe this is because they cost more energy for Megalodons to catch than they would gain. Domesticated: If someone is able to tame this beast, that person would be the undisputed ruler of the oceans around the island and would have access to resources no one can safely find!

    Plesiosaur

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Plesiosaur Species: Elasmosaurus remuspissa Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Docile Wild: Elasmosaurus remuspissa has a strange role in the oceanic food chain. It almost exclusively hunts the smaller creatures in the waters, leaving most even moderately large creatures (such as humans) alone. The sheer size of theElasmosaurus means that the quantity of creatures it must eat to sustain itself is nothing short of enormous. Despite its imposing size, Elasmosaurus still has natural predators. Well, a natural predator: the Megalodon. Apart from that monstrous creature, I myself have only ever seen two creatures bring down an Elasmosaurus: a Spinosaurus that found its way into the deeps (not common), and humans. Though I will admit, I have yet to fully explore the staggering deep underwater caverns surrounding the island. Domesticated: Much like the Brontosaurus on land, Elasmosaurus is an excellent way to transport large quantities of goods over water. These powerful creatures are in fact so large that they can be used as mobile water bases. Ambitious tribes sometimes build bunkers right onto the backs of Elasmosaurus instead of building cargo ships.

    Tusoteuthis

    From the album: Dossiers

Common name: Tusoteuthis Vampyrus Time: Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Tusoteuthis Vampyrus is a very aggressive predator. Approximately 30 feet long Tusoteuthis is a terror of the deep. Once it grabs its prey, it slowly crushes it into submission while using the talons on its tentacles to siphon and drain the victim of blood. Tusoteuthis is a terrifying opponent for several reasons. Firstly, its grab slowly renders its victim unconscious, so death isn't the first concern. Secondly, its vampyric blood drain instantly revitalizes it even during combat. And finally, if Tusoteuthis is losing a fight, it sprays a cloud of ink into the water around it, blinding its attacker to cover a sneaky escape. Domesticated: One of the major benefits of taming Tusoteuthis is harvesting its ink. Unlike normal ink, Tusoteuthis' ink is very oily, and can even be refined into fuels such as gasoline. Between that and the Tusoteuthis' distinctive combat abilities, it makes for an excellent aquatic tame despite slow swimming speed.

    Mosasaurus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Mosasaurus Species: Mosasaurus suspirita Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Until recently, I believed the Ultramegalodon to be the greatest of the ocean predators. Then I discovered Mosasaurus suspirita in the deeps. Not quite as fast, but much larger and stronger, the Mosasaurus rules the deep waters off the island. Growing up to 50 feet long, Mosasaurus is larger than almost every other aquatic creature I've encountered thus far. Contrary to common belief, Mosasaurus cannot breathe underwater. Rather, it can hold its breath an incredibly long period of time, similar to a whale. Mosasaurus is a deep-sea marine lizard, not a fish. It spends most of its time in the deeps, and only comes up to surface to breathe, or chase prey with an engulfing chomp. Domesticated: Despite its power, Mosasaurus is not ideal for all deep-water activities. Its slower swim speed makes the risk of drowning much higher when using Tylosaurus to reach oil deposits or silica pearls. Having one with you as an escort, on the other hand, is probably the best oceanic defense available!

    Piranha

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Piranha Species: Megapiranha magnadmorsus Time: Late Miocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Megapiranha magnadmorsus is carnivorous fish found fairly commonly in the rivers and ponds of the island. Its bite is incredibly powerful; I've even seen them break through the armored turtles of the island. Megapiranha has one of the strongest bites, pound-for-pound, of any creature on the island. When encountering a Megapiranha, be on the lookout for the rest of the school. No one Megapiranha is an overwhelming threat, but their tendency to swarm prey can make short work of much larger and stronger creatures. Any given Megapiranha is easy to kill, but killing the entire school can be a daunting task. Domesticated: Like some of the other creatures on the island, a tamed Megapiranha is best suited as a guard. Their high metabolism makes them require more food than many other creatures, but they are very adept at hunting their own food, particularly the Coelacanths.

    Sarcosuchus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Sarco Species: Sarcosuchus excubitor Time: Early Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Patient Wild: Among the island's water-based threats, Sarcosuchus excubitor is a lot what you might expect from a giant crocodile: A patient killing machine. It spends much of its days lazily waiting in the water for prey to walk near. That said, it is not opposed to scurrying onto land and pressing the issue when hungry. A good tactic for escaping many predators is to jump into the water, as most are slow swimmers. This is a bad tactic for escaping a Sarcosuchus, obviously, as they are actually faster in the water than they are on land. Domesticated: Despite being river-dwelling creatures, Sarcosuchus seem quite at ease in the oceans. More than a few fishing communities use them as mounts simply to help fight off Megalodons, or to gain better access to the resources found within the reefs.
