Valgueros Pros and Cons First of i like to say that i do not hate Valguero,i actually like it,but i noticed some problems or shortcomings i would like to point out. Im going to go over the pros first though. Pros Good Water to Land ratio (alot of people dislike the ocean due to it being sort of a resource depot instead a full fleshed out biome) Heaps of metal, this map has alot of metal nodes, not as much as Ragnarok, but alot. Sap Stumps provide early game sap Heaps of pearls, this map has alot of silica pearls, the underground ocean also provides easy black pearls Oil veins,Oil pumps are always great Beavers,Beavers,Beavers, theres alot of beaver nest Cool ruins Plenty of small water sources, anywhere you build on this map you will have a water source nearby Underground Ocean, this provides a cool take on the ocean (some people where hoping for something like this in Extinction) Boreal Forest is a great biome providing redwood resources with jungle threats Flat areas, this provides alot of great building areas Small caves (not refering to actual caves) these provide base areas and cool environments! New Dino Cons Allosaurus Apocalypse, there are way too many allo spawns not enough crystal spreads, there is alot of crystal on this map, however it is only in a few areas on the surface making crystal one of the more annoying resources on this map Bugs? Bug creatures are harder to farm due to them only spawning in higher threat areas BroodMother, dont bother with her,she doesnt give tek engrams and only gives low tier to no loot. Caves? There are very little caves in this map and the ones that are really underwhelming, only 2 of the caves have enemies in them. Ice golem and Chalk golems being reskins, they could have made these alternate versions of the rock golems example making ice golems rock throw freeze or slow enemies but they are weak to fire, chalk golems rock throw being several small rocks for more aoe but less damage. No Chargenodes, batteries are impossible to charge on this map NOW FOR THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM The Abberation area is extremely lacking content,no vines,no rockdrakes, nameless, reapers, baslisk, shinehorns, featherlights,no liquid element, only contains 2 of the abberation biomes making it very boring(surface obviously cant be added) and not really worth,Wildcard has stated that this is for that way abberation doesn't become useless and not generate sales for abberation (abberation has probably sold 99% percent of what its going to sell ever),HOWEVER Abberation has been out for 18 months. To put this in perspective,Ragnarok came out only 10 months after Scorched earth released with all of its content being added to Ragnarok (phoenix came after ragnaroks release),this has caused scorched earth to become very pointless to ragnarok. This is most likely why abberation creatures are missing from valguero. Wildcard most likely doesn't want Valguero to become a replacement to abberation. However wildcard has to realize that hype and interest are two different things. Hype can create interest (Valguero Announcement trailer for example),However hype cannot sustain interest unless the content is interesting itself. Hopefully wildcard will stop being stubborn and give the players what we want, but this is how they responded to the whole Valguero Abberation thing.
Alternate Reality Ark. I've been having a thought in bouncing around in the back of my mind for awhile now. Have You ever heard of the Multiverse Theory? It basically states that there are infinite amounts of universes out there, each different then our own, with anything being possible. If thats the case, then that means, somewhere, out there, Ark itself is real, and everything we know about it is true. Did any of y'all think of something like this? or have i consumed one to many Narcoberrys?
So ive been wondering where the hellscape known as extinction could take place in. we know that it couldve possibly been the testing site for the arks to save humanity and maybe the final fronier. but we are never given the name of the city, the former country that it is in or even a continent. but i got thinking and analyzing. ive hit one big barrier in the research which is getting a general click of the location but after a bit of shower thoughts and a few analyses of the holographic globes in the overseers office at the islands ending and the end of aberration. we can nail down some crucial details first. its in the southern hemisphere. this is the equivalent to asking if your character is male or female in guess who but it helps me out quite a lot as in the end of abberation you can see the defective ark hovering above Antarctica which brings me to another amazing discovery in the visibility of another southern landmass. its in Oceania. this is ruled out by the proximity of the aberration and Australia which you cant really miss when you see it as it appears in the same scene that we see that aberration and the island are meant to be southern hemispheric arks. this narrows down the search area immensely as we can then start to pinpoint the name of the city. this is where it gets intresting as there is not much to go off after this except what may be the most insignificant gameplay element of extinction and yet being a key feature to how i can pinpoint this city. its somewhat believed that extinction is in the ring of fire as it has this factor that i was teasing earlier, sulfur. which can let me belive that this place is Rotorua, New Zealand. first, this city has to be small as it is quite a pitiful little hamlet for what cant be bigger then New York. i am willing to say that the city in extinction is a small city by ark world standards as it is probably gotten so advanced that entire island nations or even entire states in the U.S.A could be mega cities at this point. there are only a few small cities that could realisticly develop into cities like the extinction city in the world let alone ones in Oceania and on the ring of fire which New Zealand is completely in. it also makes sense why the ark project would start here as the island could've taken samples from New Zealand rain forests and the use of mountains and glaciers can also be provided by N.Z. this is backed by a little idea that the island was the first ark ever made and was launched to make sure arks could exist before they started developing further arks such as scorched earth. there is also another piece of evidence backing this claim as New zeal and would be one of the last places to be infected by element thus giving the ark engineers longer time to develop on it. there are even 3 beta arks in place with the snow biome being the 1st functional ark, the desert being a scorched earth beta. and the underground ark being a sub terrain test that failed but was rushed in desperation and became the aberration ark. this may have taken a pinch of autism, a bit of 11 pm curiosity and a few cups of coffee to cobble together but i hoped this rushed mess of a post could provide some food for thought and could interest you before i pass out cold on my floor.
This is a place where we can discuss the hidden features of unicorn residue. We are all aware that upon consumption we will start tripping. Consuming the residue also gives 1 hunger point as well as a small boost in health and stamina. It can be used as fertiliser in crop plots/planters but I haven’t managed to get my dung beetles to convert it into actual fertiliser. I haven’t tried it in the compost bin. Unicorn residue can be combined with a note to create a ‘magical note’ but it doesn’t appear to function any differently to normal notes and very smelly notes. It can also be used as bait for fishing. I haven’t yet given this a go but from what I heard it is more effective than leech blood but less than amber baits. Comment anything else you have discovered about unicorn residue and any theories you may have.
