  1. Hello hello, thank you for checking out my submission! Given the results of the previous few votes, myself and a few others have decided to submit pterosaurs for this vote. The last pterosaur we got was the Sinomacrops, but it wasnt exactly rideable, sooo ZCI5250 presents: Darwinopterus acuticornus: the Corruption's Chaotic Vessel! ^ Darwinopterus main feature ^ A Darwinopterus defending its perch from another ^average day in the wastelands (go vote for katanaa's hatzeg!) ^ art by Drawolfknight!! Go check out their thylacosmilus sub as well Dossier: *dossier flashes between corrupted and uncorrupted ver (Read caption below) Size comparison: To quickly address the concerns of Darwin being way too big, my concept has the darwinopterus around the same size as a pteranodon, albeit slightly longer. This size was also chosen as it was the bare minimum for a player to not look silly riding on the back of it. With that out of the way, enjoy the rest of the sub!! Main gimmicks: Corruption, affliction and addiction: Darwinopterus's main ability is corrupting its own crest to use as a weapon. Basically, I meant for it to have adapted to be immune to corruption in its whole body except for its crest. Darwinopterus hunts corrupted creatures instinctually to eat their flesh and corrupt itself. In a sense, it's kinda "addicted" to corruption. On maps outside of extinction or where players dont have access to corrupted nodules, they can also feed their Darwinopterus element shards as a substitute for the nodules Darwinopterus will take a varying amount of corrupted nodules OR element shards to get to max corruption based on its addiction level. Think Ferox, but with an additional bar for corruption level. Darwinopterus has 5 different visual and mechanical stages of corruption, and it gains 3 base damage to its attacks per stage. A Darwinopterus switches its moves as long as it has any corruption at all. When a Darwinopterus attacks something with its corrupted crest, it has a chance to inflict a 15 second "Element infection" debuff that makes the target more vulnerable to dmg from all element-related sources, including corrupted creatures. Stats, finisher and crest conditions: When uncorrupted, Darwinopterus is about as strong as a pteranodon with slightly more HP and attack. The corruption is where the Darwinopterus's true potential lies though. When corrupted, Darwinopterus slashes at things with its crest instead of biting. It also does slightly more damage when gliding, kinda like a griffin. After using up all of its corruption, if the Darwinopterus is not constantly fed corrupted nodules, its crest will break, and it wont be able to corrupt itself for about 10 seconds while it “recovers”. When a creature is below 10% of their max HP, the Darwinopterus can do a finishing move on them which is activated by gliding and colliding with the creature. This will cause the Darwinopterus to phase through the creature, as it has "sliced it clean in half", and kill it instantly. This move, however, does not work on bosses. The Darwinopterus also has a separate finishing move that hits up to 5 times and has an extremely high dmg output, but breaks the crest completely Usage and applications outside of Extinction: Darwinopterus would be a good supporting and attacking creature, especially in the wastelands of Extinction given the plentiful corruption. It would have excellent synergy with meks and enforcers, both the astrocetus and astrodelphis, and anything else that attacks with element. Darwinopterus would be especially useful in the King Titan bossfight, as inflicting the titan with elemental infection allows the mega mek to deal additional damage to it. Outside of Extinction, Darwinopterus would also be a good late game tame, as tribes with sufficient element shards can use their Darwinopterus to their full potentials. Darwinopterus would also be good for PvP scenarios, as it can be used to fly by soakers and inflict them with element infection, so they can be killed more easily. Its finisher can also be used to kill tames that are super low on HP in one shot before the opposing tribe can cryo them or heal them up to above 10% Base Stats: HP: 250 Stamina: 200 Oxygen: 150 Food: 1200 Weight: 150 Torpor: 150 Moveset: (quick note: Darwinopterus CAN in fact fly, it is listed under spacebar with takeoff/landing. There seems to be people who may have missed this, so i felt the need to point it out) Uncorrupted: - Primary attack (,,) : Bite, base 20 dmg - Secondary attack (,,) : Mouth grab, base 1 dmg - C//(Landed only): Wing flap, does knockback, base 5 dmg - Spacebar// : Take off/Land - Can glide Corrupted (Moveset switches upon corruption, easiest indicator is the patterns turning purple): - Primary attack (,,) : Crest slash, base 25 dmg, gains damage per corruption stage for up to 40 dmg when fully corrupted. (Uses 1% of corruption per hit) - Secondary attack (,,) : Mouth grab, base 1 dmg - C//: Finisher slash, base 40 dmg, hits up to 5 times depending on corruption level and fully shatters crest. Last hit does base 50 dmg. (Uses up all corruption) (very anime lol) - Spacebar// : Take off/Land - Can glide, gliding into a creature with less than 10% of its max HP will do a finishing move that instakills it (100% corruption required to perform manouvre, uses 25% corruption) Taming: Taming a wild Darwinopterus consists of two stages: Feeding and riding. Stage 1: Feeding Since wild Darwinopterus only hunt corrupted creatures. survivors can walk right up to them safely. You will have to passively feed a Darwinopterus corrupted nodules and watch for five visual stages of its crest to signify full corruption. The Darwinopterus will screech and flutter its wings, and the patterns on its back will turn purple and pulsate violently for a while to signify that it is fully corrupted. crest corruption in action: Stage 2: Riding Stage 2 begins when the Darwinopterus plays its full corruption animation. At this point, you will have to quickly get on the back of the Darwinopterus, and guide it to kill corrupted creatures. The corruption on its crest will get chipped off with every attack just like when tamed, and when the crest is fully broken, the Darwinopterus will land and buck you off. At this point, you have to go back to stage 1. Repeat until tamed. How to fail: - attacking the Darwinopterus in any way when uncorrupted will cause it to see you as a threat and attack - getting the Darwinopterus to below 25% HP in stage 2 will cause it to buck you off and flee. Silly stuff: Some pictures of the irl animal: The actual real Darwinopterus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwinopterus Extra credits: Katanaa, ashgcy and many others who helped me brainstorm and come up with ideas for the Darwinopterus, Shockal, RiskyBiscuits, Sovira, RRG, DILONG, and many other amazing artists who are some of my biggest inspirations, and all of YOU wonderful people for taking the time out of your day to read through this silly submission of mine! And that's all folks, enjoy!
  2. Dear survivors! Don't you want to ride a pterosaur that is good at fighting and can collect trees, and can further strengthen pterosaurs? I thought this Caiajara was attractive and suggested it! It seems that Caiuajara lived in Brazil in the late Cretaceous period. If you land on the world of ARK, I want it to be this big compared to Survivor. wild Caiuajara lives mainly in the sanctuary, but sometimes it can be seen in other areas. They are ferocious in the wild and actively attack medium and small creatures. However, large creatures will not be attacked by themselves. However, if they are attacked by their opponents, they will fight back regardless of their size. Taming Caiuajara can be tamed in a special way. First of all, please prepare one of Pteranodon, Tapejara, or Tropeognathus. It can't be more than one. When you get on the prepared creature and get close to them, they will temporarily increase the movement speed of the creature. In this state, the chase in the air begins. At this time, if you are attacked more than 10 times, you will have to start over from the beginning. If they are being chased for a while without being attacked too much, they will temporarily follow the creature after admitting their speed. At this time, if you are enjoying air travel together for a while without sprinting, the gauge will progress and finally the tame will be completed. After taming Caiuajara can ride by attaching a saddle. Of course, it is also possible to fly freely in the air. Left click : Bite Their attack power and attack speed are almost the same as Raptor. Right Click : Crest Axe Shake down the Crest vigorously, cut the opponent and attack. This attack is more powerful than Bite, and the attack speed is slow. In addition, this attack can make the opponent bleed lightly. It is also possible to collect wood, and you can get a lot of Hide. C key:Grab it It can only be used when they are flying. The range they can grasp is the same as Argentavis. passive ability First of all, they can reduce the weight of wood and Hides to a quarter. In addition, it is possible to greatly increase the attack power, attack speed, movement speed, and defense power of the pterosaurs around them, and their natural resilience is also increased. This effect can be received by Caiuajara itself, but it will not be superimposed. lastly If you think this creature is attractive, please vote! Also, if you have any questions, please leave a comment! From here on, it's an explanation for Japanese people.
  3. Name: Cryodrakon Species: Cryodrakon Boreas Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore, Piscivore Temperament: Calm, aggressive when you use weapons Wild: Cryodrakon Boreas lives all around the Snow Dome. Its name means Cold Dragon. They're sitting on the rocks watching all kind of creatures and even humans until someone tries to interrupt their chilled life. This pterosaur has beautiful wings which it uses for mating, impressing the herbivore dinosaurs and confusing large carnivores. Roughly lucky pterosaur. This creature is hunting and fishing little critters in its area. The creature is attacking you when you hurt it. It steals your weapon which you use against it and all of your foods (meats, berries, soups etc.) from your inventory. Domesticated: Training a Cryodrakon in extreme conditions is very hard but with your patience and sense will succeed. A tamed Cryodrakon can communicate with wild ones which helps a lot in our mission. The survivors have found an experiment on the pterosaur, with a new fighter saddle, just like on the tropeognathus. They’ve put grenades and bombs in the saddle and tested to find out if they found useful next to the Tropeognathus or not. And the experiment was successful. The Cryodrakon is a bombing machine. It can be used for dive-bombing too. They’ve put mini guns on the saddle and placed them on the pterosaur's wings to kill creatures and take down enemy fighters. The rockets were placed under the wings of the Cryodrakon. They will combine the air force between Cryodrakons and tropeognathuses. Taming method: First, wait until it starts looking at you. When you are on sight You need to throw one Prime meat (from your inventory). It slowly flies down to consume it. After all, it permits you to ride by bending its neck. When you are on it, it takes to the skies. You need to complete its requests in the air (same as the andrewsarchus taming mechanics but there is four arrows) to increase taming. When the taming percentage is 100% the pterosaur starts slowly landing and dismounts you. Abilities: 1. It's good for exploring strange lands. 2. You can tame other dinosaurs by communicating. The pterosaur shows its wings to impress the others and you can tame other Cryodrakons very easily. Ark META: Stats: At level 1: Health: 765 Stamina: 550 Oxygen: 180 Food: 1750 Weight: 370 Torpor: 670 Melee damage: 100 Speed: 100 new items: Cryodrakon fighter saddle with a jet engine, grenade launchers, rocket launchers and mini guns. (available at lvl 90): The grenades, rockets, Homing missiles are being used in PvP battles, base raids from the air, in solo mode for boss battles and titan taming.
  4. Common Name: Arambourgiania Species: A. morsiconia Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: There are few things in this desolate wasteland that strike more fear into one's heart than the lanky silhouette of an Arambourgiania morsiconia appearing on the horizon. With little of value to eat in this apocalyptic landscape, Arambourgiania has developed a taste for carrion... But don't be fooled, it won't pass up on a helpless survivor out in the open. (Arambourgiania has a nasty habit of spearing smaller prey, including survivors, in its beak and running around with them impaled until it sees fir to consume them.) There is no chance outrunning this thing on foot, but being so large it is marginally less maneuverable in the sky than smaller fliers. A tamed Arambourgiania may serve as a fierce companion, but forget about subduing it with narcotic weapons. Being adapted to break down carrion, its body is too noxious for tranquilizers to affect it. Very much to the contrary it will greedily consume any spoiled meat or narcotics offered to it. Simply running up to an Arambourgiania with either of the aforementioned items at the ready should do the trick. That way when it impales you it will pick at the taming food before finishing you off. A good set of armor is recommended if you don't want to die too quickly. Several attempts may have to be made in order to successfully earn the Arambourgiania's loyalty, as it will need to eat a lot before feeling satisfied. Domesticated: Arambourgiania is a capable flier and an even better runner, navigating the harsh wasteland with ease. Being a carrion-eater, it prefers to eat spoiled meat. Its powerful beak thusly deals fairly potent blows, capable of poisoning and knocking out larger creatures. It can also spear and carry smaller creatures on its beak, gradually increasing their torpidity over time. Arambourgiania passively produces a noxious saliva that can be fed to unconscious creatures as a narcotic. Artist's Notes: As my username implies, azhdarchids have a special place in my heart. This entry is a refurbish of one that I submitted to either the Fjordur or Lost Island creature contests back in the day, being in fact the reason I signed up with this username. Although ARK already has a resident azhdarchid in the form of Quetzalcoatlus, it's no secret that its design is quite antiquated by comparison to our modern understanding of azhdarchids. They were not cumbersome, hunchbacked brutes. They were towering, galloping nightmares. I would really like to see an azhdarchid added to the game that does this infamous group of pterosaurs justice, and so I'm going to push for it almost every chance I get. Thank you for checking out my entry and I hope it's earned your vote!
  5. Venetoraptor In real life Venetoraptor was a small predator with a hooked beak and teeth. It was a relative or ancestor to pterosaurs. It likely lived in trees and could walk on 2 legs. In ark it will be a active scavenger preferring to stay in colonies for safety but they don’t show social behaviour. It eats any and all meat it can get even eating bones. Its size will be in between a raptor and a baryonix. They arent usually aggressive but when an animal with less than 20% hp walks into their range they will all engage like komodo dragons. And they will walk on two legs and run and climb on all 4s. But the most dangerous part about these animals is their terrible hygiene. Abilities Black plague These animals carry the medieval bubonic plague. So when you press the power button venetoraptor will shake all of the germs out of its fur and infect any animals and players within 10 meters. This does not work for the rider or tribe mates but this can indirectly spread back to base. This will make infected animals sick slowly draining their health and reducing damage speed and stamina by 20%. it will last several minutes and the developers can probably think of a cure for it. It will spread to any animal or player within 5 meters of an infected animal or player. After this the survivors of the plague will become immune for the next 2 in game days. Climb venetoraptor wants to grab any dead meat it can get more it can climb like a dinopithecus. Infection infection works similar to bleeding but over a longer period of time and it can only stack once. Taming To tame it you will have to drag dead animals towards it and the higher level and closer they are to despawning the better.
  6. Wild- In all my years I never expected to find a eusocial pterosaur, let alone one with such a... unique method of defense. Sordes cornucrepitus are related to the more common dimorphodon, yet unlike their cousins they are extremely aggressive in the wild, resting in their towering wasteland hive structures where their king and queen sit safely at the central chamber. Whenever prey or predators venture too close to the hive a specialized caste of drone are released from the hive in droves whose only purpose is to dive bomb the enemy and through a process of muscular constriction rupture their own bodies, explode on impact dealing grievous damage to their target. The process in which the creatures self detonate is fascinating, possessing several specialized organs full of volatile chemicals surrounded by constricting muscular structures, at a whim the creature can constrict these structures, building enough pressure that the creatures body cavity ruptures, exposing the chemical contents to the air and causing a violent explosion full of bone shrapnel. The self destructive drones hatch ready to fly within moments and ready to give their lives in defense of their hive. Taming- Taming your own hive of sordes is a daunting task, one must approach and rile the hive, surviving the swarming onslaught of exploding drones, if one can exhaust the hives supply of drones then the king will emerge and attack the survivor, being the largest and most dangerous member of the hive this will in itself be a dangerous task, the king is a swift flier armed with sharp teeth and vitality surprising for such a small creature. When the king sordes falls in combat only the queen will remain, plump, helpless and unable to fly away she will attempt to flee the hive and crawl away to safety, it is at this time a survivor can attempt to win her trust through hand feeding of their favorite food, mutton, after this process is complete you can bring your new friend home to have her build a new hive tower. Domesticated- A domesticated sordes hive has a surprising number of uses, the structure itself being roughly as durable as stone structures built by survivors and can be commanded to hunt and gather meat from passing wild animals, this meat stored in large chambers within the hive where its spoilage will be drastically slowed. The base defense possibilities of the hive can also not be understated as few creatures can withstand the onslaught of the hives drone attacks. One can also take a queen and have her form a small "hive backpack" which cant house as many drones but can still make a potent defensive option while exploring the wastelands. A tamed hive can also have the chemical composition of its explosive drones influenced to achieve different explosive effects, incendiary, poisonous and flashbang drones have all been documented and who knows what other clever chemical compositions can be achieved. Breeding of sordes in captivity can technically be achieved, a "Founder" egg can occasionally be found in a destroyed hive the wild, this actually being a pair of two fused eggs that can only be incubated within a tamed hive, upon hatching this will produce a new king and queen that can produce an entire new hive upon maturity.
  7. COMMON NAME: Nyctosaurus SPECIES: N. anemosilectus TIME: Late Cretaceous DIET: Piscivore TEMPERAMENT: Neutral WILD: Few creatures are more striking to behold than Nyctosaurus anemosilectus. This semiaquatic pterosaur can sometimes be found roosting atop any of the tall spires rising from this ark's multitude of tropical islands. Although normally docile unless provoked, Nyctosaurus does not like being disturbed while roosting and will attack anything that does so. This can be avoided by approaching under the cover of a ghillie suit, but be careful because it will still attack if the survivor approaches with a mount! This can make a roosting Nyctosaurus quite difficult to reach, but feeding it fish meat can earn its trust. DOMESTICATED: Nyctosaurus' saddle is a large sail fastened to its L-shaped crest and a surfboard-like platform strapped to its back, transforming the creature into some kind of living sailboard. Using its beak like a rudder and its wings to make tight drifting turns, a saddled Nyctosaurus is the most efficient means of travel across the water's surface. Although the sail, when unfurled, impedes Nyctosaurus' ability to fly, the saddle can be switched to “furled mode” where the sail is folded up against the crest. This enables the pterosaur to freely fly and dive. The crest also functions like a lightening rod, absorbing electrical shocks and rendering both mount and rider immune to attacks from the ocean's bioelectric denizens. ARTIST'S NOTES: I've been sitting on this idea for a LONG time, having actually forgotten about it after a point until something recently jogged my memory of it—just in time for this contest! It seems like most submissions to these contests are mid- to late-game tames with sometimes complicated taming methods and even more complicated abilities. For once it'd be nice to get a simple early- to mid-game tame with one or two straight-forward but incredibly fun abilities. The inspiration behind this was the debate as to whether or not the L-shaped crests of Nyctosaurus and kin supported membranes. Depictions of sailed nyctosaurs reminded me of sailboards, and that's when the bulb lit in my brain. Honestly, how cool would this be? Let's get this crazy idea into the game!
  8. Common Name: Hatzegopteryx Species: Hatzegopteryx Thambema Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperment: Skittish WILD These Wild Hatzegopterx latch themselves onto the floating islands of The Center using their sharp claws to pierce even the toughest rocks. Survivors have said upon approaching it in the wild it lets out a loud disorienting screech and flees leaving survivors dazed. DOMESTICATED Finding these large Pterosaurs is challenging, but keep your eyes peeled when traveling the floating islands of The Center, as the Hatze have a brightly coloured mantle making them stand out in the shadows. Hold on tight! As taming this giant of the sky requires you to Grapple to its back all while force feeding the Hatze its prefered feed. Once tamed the Hatze makes a great all round flying mount for aerial combat using its huge claws to latch onto the largest of dinosaurs, leaving them bleeding. The Hatze can carry smaller dinos in its giant beak while carrying larger dinos in its claws, its size can be decieving being one of the fastest birds in its class, being able to dive at great hights due to its large wing span. The Hatzegopteryx has multiple saddles including a Mounted turret saddle which was mastered by survivors who dedicated their studies to this great flyer. Hatzegopteryx inhabites The Center and is the apex predator of the sky, tackling larger prey in flocks and using its loud screech to deter others.
  9. Hatzegopterix Hello everybody ! I am happy to be able to present to you my creature concept for The Center: Hatzegopterix so you will have understood, Hatzegopterix is a pterosaur, as imposing as the terrible giganotosaurus and perhaps even as powerful... Temperamment: Regarding its wild behavior, Hatzegopterix is aggressive towards any Passive or herbivorous creature, and of course, any survivor brave enough to approach it! Tamming : For its taming, Hatzegopterix will need any type of meat, and also exceptional kibble. but the most complicated thing with Hatzegopterix is its extraordinary resistance. Indeed, the skin of this creature is much too thick for darts to pass through it, which will force the survivors of the ark to knock it out to have to tame it. But how to do it ? to knock out Hatzegopterix, he will have to turn his own game against himself. During his "Dive Meteors", place structures like walls or pillars (made of metal or tek, knowing that the tek structures are more effective), so that Hatzegopterix takes the structures and knocks himself out (knowing that the structures are destroyed with each dive). the number of structures needed to stun it is different depending on the level of the creature. Utility : Once tamed, Hatzegopteryx is able to do 2 kinds of dives: - the banal dive, to gain speed -the Meteor dive, allowing Hatzegopterix to cause enormous damage: The meteor dive creates an explosion at the moment of impact which destroys the surrounding structures. The meteor dive requires the saddle to be performed, and it has a durability that will prevent Hatzegopterix from making dives once it is broken. However, a broken saddle can still allow survivors to ride it. Additionally, Hatzegopterix has a resistance that reduces damage by 15%. His saddle also prevents being unsaddled by creatures like the Microraptor and prevents the player from taking any damage while in the saddle. Similar to Giganotosaurus or Carcharodontosaurus, Hatzegopterix is nerfed once tamed. Thank you for looking at my concept and I hope it has you more! I apologize for the potential sfaults that I could have made, because I am French and I am 14 years old!
  10. Pterodaustro was a Filter feeding Pterosaur with Whale like Baleen teeth. Their diets whould have been very simular to those of the modern Flamingos. However unlike Flamingos, Pterodaustros hindfeet had webbing making them also good swimmers. Vote for Pterodaustro if you want a hybrid between Flying and Swimming Mounts! The Dossier: WILD Out of all Pterosaurs, Pterodaustro must be the strangest looking one ive met yet! Its Webbed feet and its baleen like teeth make it an exelent Swimmer and a Filter feeder. Pterodaustro often can be found near beaches searching for its prey: Trilobites and Clams. Seeing them fly above the water and diving in searching for food, i have to say is a majestic sight! DOMESTICATED While they are easy enough to tame for they dont care much for humans unless provoked but even then Pterodaustro whould rather flee than fight, their food isint as easy to come by however. While their hunger is satisfied with Chitin once tamed, they refuse them when wild. However one thing these Pterosaurs love are Pearls. With a handful of Silica pearls or Black Pearls you are sure to make a friend out of Pterodaustro quick! Pterodaustros Beaks arent very well adapted for combat however what makes up for it is its ability to harvest immense amounts of Silica and Black Pearls from Clams, Trilobites and Sea Scorpions! Pterodaustro are ecxelent for exploring areas with rivers, lakes and oceans for i have noticed that upon leaving the water they seem to be flying faster for a little while. Making traveling near water sources fast! Is leaving the safety of your dino to gather Silica pearls worrying you? Well worry not! With Pterodaustros Beak it can collect clams and their pearls for you with no danger of leaving your dinos side! Info: For more info on Pterodaustro see the Link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterodaustro
  11. Hello survivors! I am happy to present the Dsungaripterus, a majestic pterosaur that will take your aerial adventures to new heights in the world of ARK: Survival Evolved. I thought it would be a great addition to Ark, because there aren't many pterosaur species in the game yet. I hope you enjoy my creature submission. Wild: The Dsungaripterus is a medium-sized pterosaur found in the wild. With its distinctive crest on its head and long wings, it is an impressive sight in the sky. The Dsungaripterus primarily inhabits areas near water, where it feeds on fish. Its long beak allows it to catch fish without the need to land, giving it a significant advantage over other predators in the area. Patience is key when approaching a Dsungaripterus as it is skittish and quick to take flight, making it challenging to get close for a confrontation. However, caution is advised, as when it feels threatened, the Dsungaripterus will react fiercely and attack with its sharp claws. It can also emit loud vocalizations to intimidate and deter potential threats. Domesticated: Once tamed, the Dsungaripterus becomes a valuable ally in the world of Ark. With its powerful wings, it can carry players on its back and swiftly transport them over long distances, both over land and water. Additionally, the tamed Dsungaripterus possesses unique abilities. During battles, it can utilize its diving attack, swooping down from great heights to strike enemies with strength and precision. Its manoeuvrability in the air makes it difficult for enemies to land hits on it. The Dsungaripterus can also emit loud vocalizations, presenting an imposing presence that can deter potential enemies. The Dsungaripterus can become a valuable addition to any survivor venturing into the perils of the Arks. Abilities: [Passive] – Dive: During battles, it can utilize its diving attack, swooping down from great heights to strike enemies with strength and precision, inflicting considerable damage and leaving enemies disoriented. [Mouse 1] – Bite: Its beak is sharp and strong, well-adapted for tearing into the flesh of its prey. When engaging in combat, it can swiftly close in on adversaries, clamping down with its powerful jaws, and delivering a devastating bite. [Mouse 2] – Grab: Dsungaripterus possesses strong claws on its limbs, perfectly adapted for grasping prey during hunting. With these gripping claws, it can cling to its enemies with great dexterity. [Crouch] – Scream: When the Dsungaripterus feels threatened, it can emit loud vocalizations. This scream serves to deter enemies, creating a frightening effect that can disorient and confuse potential adversaries. It can also be used to immobilize and paralyze small prey, giving the Dsungaripterus an advantage while hunting. It's important to note that this ability is not lethal, but it can be sufficient to keep them at a distance. How to tame Dsungaripterus: Taming a Dsungaripterus can be a significant challenge due to its rapid flight response and skittish nature. These prehistoric flying reptiles have a natural instinct to avoid danger and can quickly take flight at the slightest sign of threat. To approach them closely without startling them, taming a Dsungaripterus requires an exceptionally clever approach and a great deal of patience. An effective strategy for taming a Dsungaripterus involves using bait. Given their dependence on fish as a food source, offering fresh fish as bait can help pique their interest. The scent of the bait can attract them and spark their curiosity, gradually getting them accustomed to the presence of humans. Tamers must proceed with caution and slowly build trust with the Dsungaripterus. Regularly providing food and displaying kindness can help create a bond and eventually reduce the animal's fear. It is crucial to simulate their natural habitat and living conditions as closely as possible, so they feel comfortable and secure in captivity.
  12. Introduction The Kunpengopterus, or the "Monkeydactylus", will be the prime stealth bomber of Aberration, and a raider's best aerial friend. Using its corrosive Gel bombs and excellent climbing and gliding abilities to its advantage, survivors bold enough to tame this vibrant pterosaur will possess a lethal weapons valet and explorative superiority over the caves and caverns of Aberration. (more pretty pictures are in the comments section) Table of Contents: Artwork and Introduction Dossier Potential Base Stats and Spawn locations Taming Before the Jump Leap of Faith Abilities and Controls Abilities Climbing Gels Mobile Chemistry Bench Other Bombs/Throwables Other Notes Controls Dossier Common Name: "Monkeydactylus" Species: Kunpengopterus Fortisarmis Time: Mid-Jurassic Diet: Insectivore/Piscivore Temperament: Docile until Provoked Wild The towering luminous trees and cavern cliffs on this ark harbor a strange Pterosaur that resembles Kunpengopterus. The colloquially named 'Monkeydactylus' make themselves at home in this subterranean world. Similar to the Pteranodon in size, the Monkeydactylus have large forelimbs equipped with proportionally larger hands and opposable thumbs that come in handy when climbing and eating small animals. I've noticed that due to the lack of any real 'sky', the air here is far thinner, resulting in large creatures such as Monkeydactylus being unable to fly. However, its arms and wings are still strong enough to maneuver the rocky terrain with ease. Interestingly, I've had the privilege to watch some of the more daring tribespeople attempt to lasso and ride Monkeydactylus straight off seering high cliffs to tame them. Domesticated When tamed, the Monkeydactylus becomes a deadly effective weapons valet for the adventurous survivors of this ark. After eating a sufficient amount of food, Monkeydactylus regurgitates basic saliva that it can spit on foes below. Clever tribespeople has crafted saddles that utilize 'Monkeydactylus Gel' to their maximum potential. 'Pure Gel' acts as a severe narcotic that deals catastrophic damage to unaware or unprepared adversaries below. Meanwhile, 'Diluted Gel' has various defensive properties, like resistance to spores and acids. I thought I saw everything until I witnessed a group of Monkeydactylus dive bomb from the cavern walls, turning the land a putrid purple with goo and smoke! Potential Base Stats and Spawning Health: 350 Stamina: 550 Oxygen: 200 Food: 1000 Weight: 320 Melee Damage: See "Abilities and Controls" for base damage values for the differing attacks Torpidity: 1000 Monkeydactylus would spawn within the luminescent Region (blue zone) in groups of 5-6. In the wild, these gregarious groups of pterosaurs would be seen walking or climbing near high cliffs and plateaus across Aberration. With their wildly vibrant color schemes, they would fit right into the lush background of massive mushroom trees and crystalline cliffs. Taming Taming a Monkeydactylus is all about timing and placement. The unique method of lassoing a Monkeydactylus and hunting with them cowboy-style is dangerous, exhilarating, and the prime opportunity to gain a valuable mid-game ally. Before the jump To approach Monkeydactylus to tame them, survivors need to be wearing a full ghillie suit and have a Monkeydactylus lasso (Above) equipped with them as well. A Monkeydactylus lasso can be crafted by killing a Monkeydactylus (one from a different group beforehand) and harvesting the "Monkeydactylus tail". Which when combined with some fiber and thatch, makes for a strong enough lasso to ride a Monkeydactylus (see "Abilities and Controls" for more on the Monkeydactylus Lasso) *If survivors walk towards a group of Monkeydactylus without both or only one item equipped, the Monkeydactylus will stay neutral towards them. However, they will display that they know of your presence, not allowing you to start the taming process. When close enough, survivors need to lasso the Monkeydactylus! This initiates the next phase of taming. Leap of Faith Upon lassoing your target Monkeydactylus, it'll let out an ear-piercing screech as it runs in panic to jump off the nearest cliff! Here, survivors will have 3-4 minutes to catch as many small animals as humanly possible by hunting across the terrain below! Fish and insects are more effective in taming than other small animals since it's their favorite food! Monkeydactylus' favorite prey: Achatina Araneo Arthropluera Coelacanth Dung beetle Meganuera Piranha Sabertooth Salmon Trilobite While hunting during the 3-4 minute period, survivors can utilize the Monkeydactylus' abilities to climb, soar, and skim-feed to tame it. *Skim-feeding is the action of gliding across bodies of water and having the Monkeydactylus open its mouth until it snaps up a fish. A skim-feeding animation would initiate when you attack the surface of the water, and after a couple of seconds, the Monkeydactylus would be seen snatching up fish to add to its taming bar. If survivors fail to gather enough food to befriend the Monkeydactylus or if it takes too much damage, It'll buck you off and begin to attack you! So, be careful when figuring out where and when you want to tame a Monkeydactylus! Abilities and Controls The Monkeydactylus has multiple abilities that allow survivors to maximize both their PvE and PvP potential. *All the following potential abilities and values could be subject to change to whatever WildCard sees as fit and balanced.* Climbing/Gliding Firstly, the Monkeydactylus would join the Rock Drake as the only other climber in ARK Aberration! The Monkeydactylus would be able to climb all surfaces in Aberration, and combined with its great stamina, allows for long ranged exploration into the caverns of the ARK. Whilst they can both climb effectively, the Monkeydactylus is more fragile and maneuverable in the air, having a dive-bomb akin to the Griffin. The ability to climb and glide across far distances perfectly segways into its truly lethal component, the Gel. Gels The primary thing that sets the Monkeydactylus apart from everything in Aberration is its role as a deadly Bomb valet. Over time, a tamed Monkeydactylus passively produces "Pure Monkeydactylus Gel", a corrosive substance that can be used to severely damage unwary survivors and tames. Using bombs and blasts made from the Gel provide a variety of attacks to utilize while gliding. However, when this Pure Gel is chemically diluted with water (cooking it with water), it turns into "Diluted Monkeydactylus Gel", a substance that provides more defensive properties. Pure Gel (Purple Goo) (the Grimace Shake 😮) Monkeydactylus will produce Pure Gel passively over time as long as they have sufficient amounts of food in their inventory. 5 Pure Gel = 1 Jar of Gel Pure Gel and Jars of Gel can be made for different things (see “Other bombs” section for more) Fish meat and Chitin boost Pure Gel production whilst standard meats and other foodstuffs give no boost. The Monkeydactylus' special attack consists of a Pure Gel blast, dealing heavy damage and decent torpor (though not as concentrated as the bomb)(appears as a large, purple ball of saliva that splats on a large radius on the ground). While most creatures use the stamina stat for their attacks, the Monkeydactylus will use up its food stat when it attacks with its Gel. So, it's crucial to keep the Monkeydactylus supplied with its favored food to replenish lost hunger and recharge for more Gel Blasts. Pure Gel can also be crafted into a throwable smoke bomb that deals heavy torpor, decent damage(not as concentrated as the Pure Gel Blast), and induces temporary blindness in a small radius (appears in the form of a purple cloud) Diluted Gel (Teal Goo) Diluted Gel yields various resistances to different hazards survivors face across the ARK. 5 Diluted Gel = 1 Jar of Diluted Gel When Diluted Gel is applied to armor, it provides a perfect counter against the acidic venom of the Arthropleura and other arthropods (it also makes your armor look slick and shiny as a byproduct) All armor types are available to craft with Diluted Gel within the Monkeydactylus' crafting modules (more on that in the "Mobile Chemistry Bench" section) When Diluted Gel is consumed, it grants you extra resistance against Torpor, Spores, Diseases, and some slight health regeneration, at the price of some of your food stat. Mobile Chemistry Bench The Monkeydactylus saddle comes equipped with a mobile chemistry bench along with a few other craftable items: Other Bombs/throwables When combined with different resources, Monkeydactylus Gel can be crafted into different types of items, all having varying effects. Jar of Pure Gel + Basilisk Scales = Poison Grenade Jar of Diluted Gel + Chitin = Regular Antidote (usable on both tames and survivor, heals diseases) Jar of Pure Gel + Narcoberries/ascerabic Mushrooms = Narcotic Bomb (throwable bomb; deals high amounts of torpor, very little damage) Plant Species Z has good synergy with the other throwable bombs Monkeydactylus have, so it's worth equipping them here. Other notes As an overview, a combination of climbing/gliding, the Gels, and the various throwables the chemistry bench provides, the Monkeydactylus is a versatile explorer and fighter that can be deadly to any foe unprepared to fight it. The Monkeydactylus carves out a niche as the prime stealth bomber of Aberration, using the plethora of bombs it has to wreak havoc on everything below. However, riders need to be careful. The Gliding, while flexible, can leave survivors in vulnerable positions when they finally land on the ground. Because the base movement speed of the Monkeydactylus is average at best(becoming exponentially faster when climbing), Survivors need to accurately aim for where they're going to land when in combat. Monkeydactylus Lasso: Another possible item the Monkeydactylus can be used for is the aforementioned "Monkeydactylus Lasso". While it is required to tame the Monkeydactylus, there are a few options on how the lasso should be handled. Option 1: If only a Survivor is carrying it, the lasso would only be able to be used to tame a Monkeydactylus, and would become more useful while riding a tamed one. While Riding a Monkeydactylus, the lasso could be used to wrangle creatures, just the same as the lasso made from the Equus. Option 2: The Survivor can only use the Lasso strictly for taming the Monkeydactylus Option 1 is a lot more fun, We weren't sure if it would be balanced or not, so this one is in the air. If the Monkeydactylus were integrated into the game, I'd be keener on seeing option 1 become a reality. Controls Space (on the ground near a wall) -> Jump on the nearest surface, if you aren't near a climbable surface, this initiates a standard jump-glide like a Deinonychus Space (whilst climbing) -> Detach off of the attached surface (if high enough, the Monkeydactylus will glide off) W+shift (camera pan down mid-air) -> Dive-bomb for acceleration (remember: you can't fly, use this sparingly and with a far distance between you and the ground) Lmb -> Standard Bite; The Monkeydactylus lunges forward to bite its enemies! Damage dealt: 20 Rmb -> Gel Blast; The Monkeydactylus hawks up a giant Gel blast from its gular pouch! Damage dealt: 45 (uses 150 food)(can be aimed from the player POV) X -> Roar/Taunt -> The Monkeydactylus unleashes a loud screech while having its wings fully stretched out in an intimidating display! With all of that being said, thank you so much for taking the time to read through this! We believe that the Monkeydactylus truly fits right in with the colorful and bizarre world of aberration, and we hope you do too! Special thanks to my good friend @Pine.warbler.paleoart on Instagram for helping make this vision a reality.
  13. Common Name: Hatzegopteryx Species: H. kavoratrogon Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Insectivore Temperament: Neutral Wild: Adapted to subterranean caverns, Hatzegopteryx kavoratrogon can be found climbing around the giant roots of the Luminous Marshlands. It has developed a taste for creepy crawlies of all shapes and sizes and behaves aggressively toward them. Otherwise despite its nightmarish appearance this flightless pterosaur is actually quite docile unless provoked. Although reaching a wild Hatzegopteryx in its natural habitat can be physically tricky, the creature's calm demeanor means it can be safely approached and fed chitin or, more effectively, alpha karkinos claws to earn its loyalty. Domesticated: Hatzegopteryx specializes in hunting bugs, crushing them easily and feeding exclusively on chitin. Its powerful beak is especially effective against karkinos, able to use well-aimed strikes to knock them unconcious with similar effectiveness to a catapult. Rumor has it that this ability is also effective for knocking out golems as well! Hatzegopteryx' pick-like forelimbs enable it to scale verticle surfaces with relative ease. This could almost certainly come in handy when trying to snatch those pesky high-up rock drake eggs! Unfortunately its wing membranes have become too vestigial to support so much as gliding let alone powered flight. Although Hatzegopteryx is not semiaquatic per se, it can swim well enough to hunt its karkinos prey. Artist's Notes: This design leans into the now-disproven hypothesis that Hatzegopteryx may have been flightless. I thought it was still a fun idea to experiment with especially in the context of Aberration. I wanted an alternative method to karkinos taming, as messing with catapults or cannons can be resource-intensive and finicky. I've been sitting on this concept for over a month and am excited to finally showcase it! Thank you for checking my idea out and I hope it earns your vote. Community Suggestions: ~If transferred to other maps, this Hatzegopteryx would have an unlockable tek saddle that would equip it with artificial wings and restore its ability to fly.
  14. I haven’t read through the other things yet, if it turns out this has already been submitted I apologies The darwinopterus is a small, flying carnivore that tends to be found in warmer parts of ragnorok. Female darwinopterus tend to lack the crest on the top of their heads which makes it so it’s incredibly easy to tell the two apart, these small pterosaurs tend to be much more colourful then most other creatures which makes them easier to spot whilst flying around. Because of this, Darwinopterus use their small body as an advantage and often fly or run behind rocks and into cramped spaces. They often flee when attacked and eat bodies that have been left around or hunt things smaller things like dodos, jerboas, etc, they can be domesticated in two different ways. 1• petting, feeding and protecting one. Younger darwinopterus are often found near the older ones and are the only type that can be tamed this way, the older ones are a bit more complicated. 2• killing small dinos, dragging their corpses to an adult darwinopterus and letting it eat it. Once you’ve done it a few times the darwinopterus will gain your trust begin following you around, then you do the same thing again. once it allows you to pick it up, grab it and it’ll tame. Tamed darwinopterus don’t have much they can do other then climbing onto your shoulder. However, they do have a couple helpful abilities that make them pretty useful! 1• grabbing items darwinopterus are able to grab items that you throw to them, you can also make them grab things by throwing that at the item. This is helpful for things like stealing wyvern eggs since it makes it easier to grab them without making wyverns attack you, they can also hold weapons in their mouth and attack from your shoulder if not on passive mode. (Only once tamed) 2• stealing from survivors (pvp) if you throw one at a survivor it’ll grab a random item from their inventory and bring it back to you. This will mostly be helpful for pvp though and is mostly useless on pve (unless your trying to annoy your sibling on a single player world. Also wild ones are NOT able to steal) 3• stat boosts These small critters love pets and cuddles, whenever you pet one it’ll temporarily boost their stats a small bit, which is good to do before making them steal from other players since it’ll also boost their speed and health incase they try to fight back despite have multiple good abilities, there’s also a few cons of owning them, such as their low stats, darwinopterus have low health, melee and stamina usually. However they do have decent weight ————————— https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwinopterus
  15. Volgadraco was a genus of Azhdarchid Pterosaur from late cretaceous Russia. It was a close relative to the already implemented Quetzalcoatolus. Despite Volgadraco being smaller than Quetzalcoatolus, it is actually taller than a Quetz. Here's a dossier I drew and compiled. BEHAVIOUR AND ECOLOGY: Volgadraco fly long distances in search of watering holes and small creatures to eat. Volgadraco can use its massive beak to pick up and carry small dinosaurs and players. Volgadraco can drink directly from water veins and lakes, similar to the Cryolophosaurus from Ark Additions, and once they consume water they will convert it into oil, which can be used identically to normal oil. Alternatively, the oil it extracts can be shot as a projectile from its mouth, the expelled oil will not only slow down its victims, but it will also be highly flammable, and can be ignited with a flaming arrow. weapons can be shot off the back of the mount because of this. The creatures saddle has 2 oil tanks on the sides of it, used for extra oil storage. The oil it produces CAN spoil, similar to Basilosaurus oil, however when it is kept within the saddle it spoils at a much slower rate. TAMING METHOD: the Volgadraco is a passive tame, similar to the Desmondus. keep oil in your inventory and let it grab you in its beak, it will then drink the oil off of your character and begin taming. The amount of oil required depends on your servers rates. The real life version of Volgadraco TLDR - Can drill for oil in water veins and lakes - Can spit out flammable oil puddles - Can slow down enemies with its oil spit, covering them in a flammable black tar - Can pick up small creatures and players
