Claim land instead of pillar This might be challenging, but ultimately a huge help. People pillar for the sake of maintaining a hunting ground, or keeping others at arms length, or to preserve resources. Number of reasons. But, pillars add to structure limit, server lag, and are annoying to deal with. So lets give players an alternative, let players immediately, level 1, craft Land Claim Markers. Structures themselves no longer Claim Land, the system instead transferring to these Markers. A few notes on this, worth debate: Look and feel: Markers themselves are compact, you can walk right over them. The Marker could be as easy to make as a note or as difficult as a stone pillar...in either case, a newby should be able to make one relatively quick. (so not using metal ingots or sap, not in a smithy...) I like the tiered idea, because it mimics the present system, level 1 starts with a wood marker, and progresses up to a tek marker, with progressively higher decay timers. Destroyable in PvP, Are these stone, wood, metal? Maybe tiered? PvP is not my thang, so consider amongst your own. Decay timer on these, not structures. Yes, a timer would stop ticking for a 1000 individual structure pieces, instead just for a couple markers. Amazing. Snaps to foundations and ceilings, switches from being a marker to engraving or seal. Just so players can note where it is but walk over it without concern. Claimed vs Unclaimed Land: You can build on unclaimed land, but anybody can Demolish your structure even while you are looking at them. Can this be griefed, yes, so players should be made aware with a one-time tip that this could happen the first time they build on unclaimed land, and to be cautious. Some land is not claimable. This is something that has been necessary for a long time. But, you could still build on that land, it is just demolishable by other players. Why? Traps, for one, maybe a public smelting stand. There are good reasons to build near a resource cache, we just notice the bad reasons most. This goes hand in hand with having a cap per player, otherwise we'll just see the alt char system bypass the cap. With unclaimable land, that won't be as necessary. Demolishing a structure only refunds to the player who originally placed the structure. This would be vital. Players CAN CLAIM A BASE! Why not, some people build amazing stuff, if they abandon it (Markers decay), you can drop down a few Land Claim Markers, and live in their castle. Now, some caveats, maybe a player can only claim up to a certain tier based on level...so like level 1-20 can claim wood, 21-40 stone, 41+ for all else. This is really just meant to help brand newbies from getting too much, too soon, become overwhelmed, and ruin their own experience. Or maybe not, and instead structures demo when the land claims decay. Extra Functionality: Holding a marker allows you to see claimed area through some sort of Arkly hologram system. OR maybe just a tooltip pops up, stating whos land you are on, allowing you to figure out the exact boundaries much easier than current, which is a lot of guesswork. Foundations still block spawns. Markers themselves do not. Cap on Markers per player. This cap could start small and grow, maybe one every 2 levels? This could get complicated for tribes, worth more debate. This isn't meant to confine one player to a 3x3 grid, the amount of area each marker offers should be significant, maybe a 2x2 pillar range? The bigger goal is to reduce lag. Claimable Land Claimed stat displayed on server select screen. Don't have players join servers that are filled, which happens before the population cap. Overlapping claims, basically leading to a zen diagram appearance. Difficult to come up with a solution to, but one option is to have a push-pull effect, where the boundary meets in the middle. Or stick with a first come first serve, as it is now. Implementation: Implementation could occur relatively easily (from the player's perspective), allow both systems to be active for a month, then cut off the structure claim system. Obviously its not as simple as that from a coding perspective, but it should be doable. The absolute best way I can imagine doing this is to have the Land Claim Markers replace Pillaring, and increase functionality in smaller increments. During implementation phase, players will be able to place land claim markers on unclaimed land and land they currently control.
NinetyNineProblems (Tribe) just got 1 more problem! So the other night a buddy of mine and I went over to aberration 662 to set up my personal mining base. We get down to the metal area and find a nice spot right next to the water and not too close to anybody else, but apparently too close for the Tribe NinetyNineProblems. He came over and pillared me in! I tried talking to him and asking him to remove them I even tried to show him where I was going to put my gates up to assure him I wouldn't be near his base and I would give him his space. And he basically told me to f off. I'm not even close to their base but yet this A-Hole felt that he needed to come and pillar me in completely making it impossible for me to be able to build outwards. Yes I guess I should have pillared around it off myself when I laid it down, but I never thought anybody would come and mess with me like this considering it's a low population server. But coming over and pillorying off somebody's base because you feel they are too close when I am nowhere even near his base is complete BS, especially when his base has a charging station blocked off completely in the only way you could get to it is with the rock Drake. So what did I do about all of this? That moron didn't tell her off around his own base so I have taken the liberty of doing so and while I'm at it I've also started putting down gates to block him in. It shows how intelligent this guy is starting problems with somebody he doesn't know for no reason and forgetting to protect himself from retaliation I'm sure we all could agree we would all rather have friends than enemies right? So why go out and make enemies for no reason other than you feel they are too close to your base... People need to realize this is a game about building and people are going to build right next to you and if you can't learn to share you have no business being on this game but then again kids are spoiled little brats these days and don't know how to share... I blame the parents. I never want to have to go out and do crap like this to somebody but if you're going to mess with me for no real good reason I'm going to retaliate twice as hard, I'm a very reasonable guy and I will always to talk things out first but this guy didn't even want to give it a chance. Well now we'll see how long it'll take for him to want to take those pillars down when he can't even get out of his base to Farm. Not to mention I've got quite a few friends that are more than willing to come over and give me a hand putting down war bases around him so if he really wants to start poop he really should think of the consequences. He really has no idea what hell he could bring down upon himself. All he has to do is come to the negotiating table and it could all be over. So yah watch out for the tribe NinetyNineProblems
Can't place ceiling tiles in certain spots, even with foundation/pillar support I was playing the new Extinction Map, and I decided based on some videos I watched on youtube to build my base in the city on top of a building. The one I picked has a few natural inclines that take you from one lower level up higher to another higher level, so I decided to make use of this. Unfortunately when trying to build the upper level out over the top of the lower level, there are certain spots that the game will not let me place the ceiling tile down it just says "Can't Place Stone Ceiling: Requires Nearby Foundation Support." It does this even if I give all other surrounding ceiling tiles support with pillars, it still will not let me place the tile. It's very aggravating and I don't know what to do. I'm attaching Images to show you what I'm talking about.
Sorry if some of these have already been posted but here's my list of suggestions which I would like to see Ark maybe implement in the near future. 1. Having more hairstyles and more in-depth coloured dyes to paint our clothes (eg - Medium Light Blue because there's only like Neon Blue and Navy) 2. Having more S+ implemented to consoles (eg- Glass Metal Walls and Foundations etc). 3. Having some Prim+ Items to the official game would make PVE more fun. 4. In the Dino information screen can we have the information on what level we tamed the dino and it's original stats so it would be useful for breeders. (eg- Breeding Info Tab maybe?) 5. Removal of flyer nerf on PVE. 6. Having a new structure to claim land without having pillars everywhere in your yard. 7. Having new / more oceanic servers without people from other countries stealing our servers. 8. Possibility to have more than 1 character on a server? 9. Remove rust and glare from metal structures. 10. Have the ability to build treehouse platforms in the SF on Extinction. (SF has similar trees like the redwoods in some places)
