New server type:story mode This is an idea I’ve had bouncing around in my head for a while for a new game mode/server type:story mode So how does this mode work and how is it different to what we have already and what would it bring to the table as far as game play? Well to start off you can only start off on the island and the only way to get off the island would be to ascend at alpha difficulty which then spawns you on scorched earth (side note scorched earth needs an ascension or at least a way off it for this) then aberration, then extinction and then to any maps released after that.How is this different than normal servers.It differs in two ways 1) it’s like a server cluster but you can only go to arks you’ve unlocked(you can go back to previous arks using Obelisks or supply drops freely) 2)the creatures get higher levels and the items get better quality as you go up the arks. dinos in increasing arks are going to be stronger like difficulty 1.5x the previous map in the sequence and loot and BP would follow similar rules. In PvP this would create an arms race to reach the higher arks for not only the better creatures in general but also for the better level tames and gear.This should (at least in theory) curb the problem of alpha tribes dominating the whole map as they would probably stick to the highest expansion released. In PvE while there is no arms race It would still provide a challenge for those who desire it and supper high level utility tames would be cool to see.
  2. Add PvX to other platforms(PS4) I find the concept of 2 aspects of the game mixed together to bring out the best of two worlds. PvP is constant commitment, with rads being constant. PvE for me is too peaceful but PvP is to aggressive. I just think it would be pretty nice to have this option
  3. English is not my native language, so sorry for my grammar. But i know how to use gramar checks through google translator, so all must be good Ark is perfect game. First, I want to mention VERY briefly the biggest problem of your game, and then my proposal how to solve it easily. But , for many years - this problem is still not solved ( The problem of the game: Your game is very beautiful .. And striking a huge variety - what you can do in the gameplay. And I gave to game a few years of my life (I have 3500 hours in the game). But... Both you and me — we know very well how the current gameplay is organized and that players cannot play your game for a long time. Since you need to play 24/7 and constantly monitor your bases, 24/7 to farm resources for ammo and weapons, 24/7 to tame and breed dinosaurs. If team don’t do all from this list - it will not take three days or a week (depending on the strength of the base), and your base will be destroyed with a 100% guarantee, from local big tribes, or from endless raiders that come from other servers of 30 -40 people every day. And when you insanely control everything 24/7, problems at work (in the real life) begin, and quarrels with families (as they ask for time, and you sit in constant wars in the game) and all players leave the ark sooner or later (( I have 3537 hours in the ark.. It is full year of the real life (or 3 full years if to play 6-8 hours per day)... And i left game with reasons which i already have written. I want to go back. I think many others want to go back. Since your game is so beautiful and thought out that i see it often during sleeping. But me.. And all people who have thousands of hours in the game, understand very well: that you will either have to give up all your time to the game, or see your base every morning, or just the house, and even just the raft - destroyed by the raiders and it discourages the return. Solution: You often experiment with new kinds of servers. Sometimes, your experiments are successful - and new types of servers live for years (small tribes as an example), sometimes not successful, and you close these servers. Your last experiment: classic PvP had good idea (to return to old times of the ark), but your team make some mistakes (wyverns, golems, griffins remain tameable and they can be transfered). Wyverns allow to wipe 24/7 all beginners. Griffins allow to check all map for seconds (no chance to not hostile newcomers to leave in peace even 1 day) Golems vs no TEK allow to wipe everybody (without quetzals - much more harder to farm ammo only with argi). So... Classic Idea was good. But unsuccessfully implemented and ruined from the beginning, because - all remains the same. You must be 24/7 in the game or wipe. it was your last expertiment... But what now? do you want to continue your experiments with new types of servers? If yes.. I propose to make a new type of server: for players who are tired of extreme activity (round-the-clock collection of resources and round-the-clock protection from endless hijackers). There are millions of such players now. Your online can now be viewed on a incentive (20 thousand people), but the game has been bought by more than five million people (from steam statistics). If you are interested in trying to reclaim players, you can experiment with different theories. But I don't understand ... Why in 5 years, you have never tried to fight the biggest problem of your game? If people don't want to farm 24/7 of time.. thouthands.. millions of ammo (most of us - are completelly bored to do this and people leave the game). If people want only to play with other people with not big house and don't see ruined by alpha tribe own house each morning... You can create new server type with auto evolution system: personal ranking, and tribe ranking. And this will allow people to live in the balance, without fear to be ruined by alpha raiders. PvP will not disappear and the players will constantly fight each other many times each day. But will disappear the wipe by alpha griefers when the difference in strength is more than dozens of times. And if people will decide to be more powerfull, their rank and vulnerability will increases. Example... (can be other variants) Beginners: young newcomers and noobs, who don't have: * 30+ lvl people. * any 1 wooden structure * any 1 item crafted in the smithy or better. * any 1 saddle with 16+lvl (trike and better creatures) * any 1 basic dino with 150+ lvl * any 1 high tier dino (where is taming time of 1 lvl. is bigger than 1 hour (basic rate) with lowest food) * any 1 raft If player will receive any 1 from this list, he will auto-stop to be beginner (and his tribe too) and his evolution rank will be increased, depends what he will get. All other tribe members will receive message (or when they will log in) (which will block gameplay until they answer) that tribe go into higher evoltuion rank (and all benefits from this), and if they don't want to increase own rank together with tribe - they can leave tribe. Also, people can receive warning when they will try to level up or will try to equip or craft item - that their evolution rank will increase after this action and will be option - to stop this action. Also, tribes can have optional checks (in the tribe settings): not allow to people (not admins) to build or to tame or to level up creature or to equip item, if this will increase tribe evolution. And warning to admins to cancel this action, because this can increase tribe evolution. Way back: If player will increase his evolution rank (not by level, where is no way back) but will drop all high rank items and will leave high rank tribe and won't sit on a forbidden dinosaur - he will receive message that his rank will be decreased back to beginner after 10 min if he doesn’t take the evolutionary things again. And while, people have this evolution rank, their names and their structures will be colored as grey colored (can be other color) to other people (that they will understand that this is beginners) and will be enabled protection: Damage to "Beginner" players from all kind of weapons/dinos/turrets/explosives/poison/lighting/fire/corrosive, from other evolution ranks: Primitive Evolution: -40% Gunpowder Evolution: -60% Industrial Evolution: -80% Seekers of War: -90% Damage to beginners' structures and dinos from other evolution ranks (including AoE attacks and explosives): (except auto/heavy/tek turrets which have life of 3+ hours after installation, so fresh installed turrets have full debuff, 3+ hr. turrets - have 100% damage vs dinos) Primitive Tribe: -50% Gunpowder Tribe: -75% Industrial tribe: -90% Seekers of War: -95% (don't forget that there is thatch and will be ruin after 2-3 hits even with -95%) ********************************************************************** Primitive Evolution: beginners who have decided to build wooden house and to have some basic protection vs agressive wild creatures. Primitive people/tribe don't have: * 60+ lvl people. *stone structures * armor better than chitin or shield 750+ * any 1 weapon using gunpowder or industrial/tek technologies * any 1 saddle with 36+lvl (ankylo and better creatures) * any 1 saddle better than green * any 1 basic dino with 200+ lvl * any 1 high tier dino (where is taming time of 1 lvl. is bigger than 1 hour (basic rate) with lowest food) If player will receive any 1 from this list, he will stop to be primitive (and his tribe too) and his rank will be increased, depends what he will get. All other tribe members will receive message (or when they will log in) (or when they will log in) (which will block gameplay until they answer) that tribe go into higher evoltuion rank (and all benefits from this), and if they don't want to increase own rank together with tribe - they can leave tribe. Also, people can receive warning when they will try to level up or will try to equip or craft item - that their evolution rank will increase after this action and will be option - to stop this action. Also, tribes can have optional checks: not allow to people (not admins) to build or to tame or to level up creature or to equip item, if this will increase tribe evolution. Gunpowder people/tribe don't have: * 90+ lvl people. * any 1 metal structure * equiped armor with protection more than 200 (per piece) or shield 1500+ * more than 10 plots with X-Seeds * any 1 weapon using industrial/tek technologies * any 1 weapon from recipe with percentage bigger than 199+% * any 1 industrial crafting structure or electric structure * any 1 saddle better than blue * any 1 basic dino with 250+ lvl * any 1 100+ lvl high tier dino (where is taming time of 1 lvl. is bigger than 1 hour (basic rate) with lowest food) * any 1 top tier dino (size - giant gateway) If player will receive any 1 from this list, he will stop to be gunpowder tier (and his tribe too) and his rank will be increased, depends what he will get. All other tribe members will receive message when they will log in (which will block gameplay until they answer) that tribe go into higher evoltuion rank (and all benefits from this), and if they don't want to increase own rank together with tribe - they can leave tribe. Industrial people/tribe don't have: * 110+ lvl people. * tek structures * more than 100 turrets or 25 heavy turrets (1 heavy calcs as 4 normal), or 200 x-seeds (1 seed calcs as 0.5) * armor with protection more than 400 (per piece) or shield 3000+ * any 1 weapon/saddle using tek technologies * any 1 weapon from recipe with percentage bigger than 249+% * any 1 saddle better than purple * any 1 basic dino with 300+ lvl * any 1 250+ lvl high tier dino (where is taming time of 1 lvl. is bigger than 1 hour (basic rate) with lowest food) * any 1 top tier dino with 150+lvl (size - giant gateway) * any 1 kind of titano or reaper or giga If player will receive any 1 from this list, he will stop to be industrial tier (and his tribe too) and his rank will be increased, depends what he will get. All other tribe members will receive message (which will block gameplay until they answer) that tribe go into higher evoltuion rank (and all benefits from this), and if they don't want to increase own rank together with tribe - they can leave tribe. Also, people can receive warning when they will try to level up or will try to equip or craft item - that their evolution rank will increase after this action and will be option - to stop this action. Also, tribes can have optional checks: not allow to people (not admins) to build or to tame or to level up creature or to equip item, if this will increase tribe evolution. And warning to admis to cancel action, because this can increase tribe evolution. Way Back: If player will increase his evolution rank (not by level where is no way back) but will drop all high rank items and will leave high rank tribe and won't sit on a forbidden dinosaur - he will receive message that his rank will be decreased back to industrial after 8 hours if he doesn’t take the evolutionary things again. Seekers of War can have gear and dinos higher than restrictions of industrial evolution. Damage to people from Seekers of War and to dinos (only to people and dinos, not to structures) from dinos (only from dinos, not from weapons) of tribes with less evolution: Beginners Tribe: +300% Primitive Tribe: +200% Gunpowder Tribe: +100% Industrial Tribe: +50% While, people have this evolution rank, their names and their structures will be dark-red colored to other people (that they will understand that this is highest evolution) ************************************************************************* If such servers will appear people can join them and to leave in the balance (without each day 100% wipe by alpha invaders). So, alpha people will wipe each other and they will attack weak tribes only in rare cases (as it will be spent many times more time and resources), and weak people will attack the same evolution level too. But it is your choice whether you want to try to restore the balance further. Do you want to return to the game 90% of players (from 5 millions) who are tired of the non-existence of balance and constant destruction from much stronger tribes.
  4. Comment with your game modes/game style ideas here. I have been playing ARK for a few years but, after a few days of playing, it gets very boring and I end up not playing for months at a time. I'd like to start a discussion with ideas for new game play styles and game modes. Creating a DLC or even a completely separate game following the core of ARK (Dino taming and base building) but adding an adventure/story mode to make a more in-depth and story-rich immersive experience would be INCREDIBLE, think Pokémon/Dragon Age/The Witcher/etc.. The game would have objectives/missions and force/encourage on-ground exploration incorporating strategy rather than flying everywhere or using an overpowered mount (not fully eliminating fliers/strong mounts though), incorporate characters and villages, maybe some dynamic player choices similar to Dragon Age/The Witcher. Missions could be events such as taming certain types of dinosaurs, protecting villages from wandering, aggressive dinos/characters, selling tamed dinos to farms, fighting AI characters, following clues to hidden elements/events such as a hidden cave entrance containing an objective item/artifact, missions that require using in-game items/skills or even certain types of dinos (for example: climbing mountains using ice picks rather than mounts to retrieve dino eggs from a nest, gliders rather than mounts to get to specific goals, small/medium ground mounts rather than pteras or overpowered mounts while traveling through the forest, etc.), giving the options to recruit AI with specific skill sets and allow them to work in farm fields, rock fields, breeding pens, caves, help build structures/houses, hunt with or without you, tame with or without you, build a village ecosystem. These options would be best-suited for PVE and Single Player, while still preserving the PVP experience. As far as enhancing PVP game-play, a new game mode that would create a Tribe v Tribe war experience such as creating a natural war arena with mountains/trees/bushes/water that encourage a PVP hunting play style that focuses more on fighting instead of gathering materials and crafting items. This would be similar to a Call of Duty or Battlefield experience and can even have different modes that allow the crafting of items vs just having a loadout, incorporating mounts with options for designating mount types/specific creatures or disallowing mounts. Even having a game mode that would apply creative mode for building for, say 10 minutes, but would include a height/depth/perimeter restriction for base building and be a capture the flag type of game style. This mode would have the option to select the building materials of the base and would give a certain amount of time to build the base and then disable building when the war starts. Different options such as allowing the game host, whether it's public server ran or privately ran, to dictate the length of build mode and the length/life count of war mode would be a great enhancement. Adding this to the game would breathe new life into it and create a very large and effective new stream of revenue if executed correctly, as well as attracting a much larger player base therefore increasing the exposure/popularity of the developers for future game releases. ARK has so much potential to be at the forefront of the gaming industry if only executed properly.
  5. I would like to see a mode with less raiding and more open world PvP and Battles. Suggestions -Each tribe has a 'Tribe Flag' they can place in their main base that allows an area that buildings and dinos are in a 'PvE' state (cant be damaged or damage other people although auto turrets would still damage enemy players/dinos) -Any Structure outside of the flag radius takes x6 damage -No formal Alliances -No camping outside players base radius -No Building in key locations other players need to access for progression (caves/heavy resource locations) I believe this would encourage a side of PvP that doesn't include people losing months/years of work in just a few hours
