    Saddle Upgrades

An idea for saddle and equipment upgrade/customization that is different from just the quality system and is more primitive and tribal theme friendly. Would let you get access to saddle Upgrades a different way and differs between creatures etc, good for maps that have an absence of tek or Industrial technology and want a more paleo, tribal, medieval or Ancient feel to the game. War Saddle - A war saddle is a saddle version that can be crafted for many creatures that are rideable and comes with many ways to upgrade and augment it visually and functionally. Made by crafting an Artifact of any kind with a saddle, War Saddles have the unique ability to give a tribe-wide Alpha buff to all your dinos nearby when the creature uses their Roar ability, whether or not it has mechanics. They also can be upgraded with Trophies found from slain creatures. All the leftover bones, skulls, eyes, tentacles, feathers and scales you collected can now be used to decorate and customize the saddle, which also adds additional armor, damage or speed to the dino (depending on the piece). These are either added directly onto the saddle or crafted into items able to be added in the case of ones requiring multiple of a trophy such as Vertebrae, Feathers, Teeth or Claws. Examples being Alpha Raptor Claw - Damage Alpha Rex Skull - Defense and Damage Alpha Rex Tooth - Damage Alpha Megalodon Fin - Speed Alpha Mosasaur Tooth - Damage Alpha Tuso Eye - Decoration Alpha Basilisk Fang - Damage Argentavis Talon - Damage Sauropod Vertebrae - Defense Therizino Claws - Defense and Damage Thylacoleo Hook-Claws - Damage and Speed Sarco Scales - Defense Megalodon Tooth - Damage Tuso Tentacle - Damage and Speed Basilisk Scale - Defense Rock Drake Feather - Speed War Saddles can be somewhat customized beyond just the Trophies too. They each have 4 Slots. A head slot, a spine slot, and one for the sides (or hips/thigh/flank region on most dinos), and a 4th for banners or flags, the first 3 can be equipped with either a trophy or other items that can be used for armor, augmentation or pure decoration, which can all be individually painted before putting them on. Shields are another item that can be equipped onto the Saddles, working as you might expect one too realistically, they block and stop projectiles entirely, and are subject to the strengths of the material they're made of, meaning they may need to be repaired and some will be better than others. Shields tier Riot and above cannot be equipped onto War Saddles.
  2. The Apatosaurus, the new and not useless diplodocus. This large sauropod would live in the green and lush parts of the forest. These creatures aren’t necessarily gentle giants, if a human gets within punching distance they will attack, but will pay to mind to other creatures. When it comes to taming things get tricky, you will have to literally jump onto it’s back (like find a high place, jump off and land on its back) then you will feed it narcoberrys narcotics, or biotoxin till it is asleep. After that it’s just a standard unconscious tame. After taming it you will need to make a saddle, of which you have 3 to choose from; the Standard saddle, the platform saddle or the war platform saddle. The war platform saddle is armored, making it take less damage from all turrets. On the subject of turrets you can add a turret in into the saddle by dragging it in your inventory, at that point your saddle will have a built in turret. Aside from being a war machine on legs the Apatosaurus has some remarkable abilities. It practically never gets tired so that makes it a good Dino to move large amounts of weight around the map, aiding this is its ability to raise its head high in the air while walking through water, making rivers and lakes a piece of cake to cross. As for attacks it can stand up on its hind legs to crush the spine of any unfortunate enemy. It can also stomp with each of its legs so you will be covered from all angles. Its tail whip is also nothing to be scoffed at, it’s high speeds can knock riders of their mounts, and deal knock back and torpor. They can also sweep up dust with their tail, and when it enters the dust cloud it gains a massive speed boost to run away, similar to the tuoso. This is my idea for the The Center's new creature, thanks for reading. At the time of writing this no one has submitted the same creature Image was found on the internet No I don't know why the text is highlighted in white
  3. Hatzegopteryx Spiecies: Hatzegopteryx thambema Time: Maastrichtian of the Cretaceous. Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild I never imagined I would see such a big bird that seems to almost rival the mighty Quetzalcoatl in size! They do not seem to be very friendly to humans, and larger creatures don't seem to be interesting to them at all. They seem to mostly fly around the big floating island at the center of the map, it seems almost impossible for one to even come near to these flying beasts, and it seems that they almost never need to land to rest their mighty wings. Domesticating this wild creature might be near impossible. Domesticated Some survivors have attempted taming the beasts and after many failed attempts with many deaths as a result they finally succeeded in taming these flying titans. The method that ended up being a success is rather morbid though. They were taunting the beasts and since they are aggressive towards humans by nature it made them follow them home in rage. They then took out living baby dinosaurs, this made the creature stop its wrath for a short moment and it then switched target to the baby dinosaurs. The insane survivors then fed it baby dinosaurs and that kept the creature docile until it was completely domesticated by mankind. When a domesticated Hatzegopteryx seems to be an all around good flier although it doesn't have the mighty weight of a Quetzalcoatl or the speed of a pteradon, this bird is one of the mightiest air fighters ever seen. Even seems to have a kind of fighting instinct that lets it lock on to dinosaurs going into a kind of state of rapid positional changes much like the Tapejara way of flying through the air. They seems to have a certain ability to eat up small dinosaurs and getting more meat out of them, even getting prime meat out of smaller sized dinosaurs too, and if that isn't enough it has picked up a tendency if it is left by a creature its owner is in the process of taming, it will use its mighty wings to blow away hostile dinosaurs and scream to alert its owner. It has the will to save its owner from danger by flying over them, grabbing them with its beak and throwing them onto their saddle if called for. Stats It will have less weight than a Quetzalcoatl But will be rather slower than a Pteranodon, but not as slow as a Quetzalcoatl. Abilities On the ground: Left mouse button will cause the beast to attack (if done against small creatures it will instakill it). While flying: Left mouse button will cause normal attacks similar to the very similar to a Quetzalcoatl. On the ground: Pressing spacebar makes it take off into the air While flying: Holding spacebar makes it glide down through the air, much like the Rockdrake but with the advantage of already being able to fly. Gliding makes it regain some stamina since it's almost resting while gliding down which is also well combined with the button that creates a big burst of speed sending the beast dashing forward Right click: locks on to a target for a short while, if held it will keep its focus on the nearest dinosaur(if done in the air it will hover like a Tapejara, to make combat easier) C button On the ground: Will make it flap its win in front of it making knocking back dinosaurs, even doing a little bit of damage While flying: Will make it do a dash in the targeted direction making it dive into the target doing a good amount of damage to the target and making them bleed for a short period of time. But this will also be consuming a large amount of stamina, can also be used to give the glide more momentum and travel far distances fast. / On the ground: Lets the Hatzegopteryx grab creatures in certain sizes with its beak and carry them around. While flying: It will also carry creatures but if used on a bigger hostile dinosaur it will apply a temporary bleed to the target. Rescue mode: Holding the button on the Hatzegopteryx will open the interaction wheel for the dinosaur and there will be an option called Rescue mode. With rescue mode enabled: If called upon with a whistle the Hatzegopteryx will instantly fly to its owners rescue by picking them up with its beak and throwing them onto their saddle saving them from danger. Taming protection It has by default the ability if it is left by a creature its owner is in the process of taming, it will use its mighty wings to blow away hostile dinosaurs and scream to alert its owner. Meat gather: When killing small creatures such as Dodo’s, compy’s, Dilo’s and Oviraptor’s, they will get insta killed and consumed immediately. They will get more meat and have a big chance to also get prime meat from them, even though they are smaller dinosaurs. This will also apply to babies. Well feed boost: When the Hatzegopteryx eats a baby dinosaur it will gain temporary increased speed and decreased stamina consumption(the speed will rival that of the wyvern). Taming: The Hatzegoperyx is by nature aggressive towards humans, so it will chase anyone in a deep rage. By luring the Hatzegoperytx to your home and show them a baby dinosaur, it will immediately switch target from you to the dinosaur, by feeding them the baby dinosaur it will progress the tamebar and the Hatzegoperytx will remain calm as long as you keep feeding it. You will have to do this until it's completely domesticated.
  4. Disclaimer Hello everyone! This is my first time posting an ark creature for the vote. I now present to you the Eophyllium the Mighty Leaf Insect. Eophyllium is an extinct monotypic genus of the Phasmatodea, a type of insect ancestral to the modern Phylliidae. These insects mimic the shape of leaves for camouflage, with a single species, Eophyllium messelensis Since aberration is a non-flyer map and rich in different types of creatures, I came up with a unique creature that doesn’t exist in ark, yet, which is a camouflaging leaf insect. I got bored of big lizards that can rival gigas with super OP abilities and ark need more diverse and unique, so I came up with a unique creature that can fit very well in the aberration map considering the environment and the creatures that inhabit the biome. Basic Info Common Name: Mighty Leaf Insect Species: Eophyllium Messelensis Time: Eocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Eophyllium Messelensis is an oversized leaf insect that has adapted to the harsh environment it lives in. It mostly lives in the fertile region but sometimes can be found in the Bio Luminescence region too. Because of this, the Eophyllium’s adapted to the area and developed new abilities like multi-coloured glowing body to emit some light in darkness using leaf branch like veins and able to climb surface of rocks. Females can’t fly but can camouflage according to the environment. Males have forewings, can camouflage, spread its wings to glide and latch on to surfaces, glowing forewings with leaf branch like veins. Its active camouflage helps it to stalk its enemies or to flee from them undetected. Eophyllium’s strongly dislike nameless and reapers and will become aggressive upon seeing them. Domesticated: Aside from its camouflaged ability, tamed Eophylliums that consumed mushrooms can spread a gas around itself, deals an Area of Effect that damage, immune to radiation, hydration or healing depends on the mushroom consumed. These mighty leaf insects can also switch places with dinos whether it's an ally dino or enemy dino. Riders of Eophylliums can Camouflage to blend with structures along with them. Behaviour: Found mainly in the fertile region and sometimes in the bio-luminescent region. They are not aggressive to humans but will attack if provoked or upon stealing their eggs. They are very aggressive towards rock drakes, reapers and nameless. Eophylliums are very difficult to be spotted and if spotted near the area one must not disturb them at any cost. Females are unable to glide but males can glide using their forewings. Appearance: Eophylliums are large creatures with similar size as the Rock Drakes. Female (multicoloured veins across its body) male (multicoloured veins across its body, forewings and antennas), which emits some light. They can glow in the dark with their leaf branch like veins. In their camouflaged state, one can see them blended with the texture it's in to identify them. They can't glow when they're in their camouflaged state. Females are slightly larger than males. Utility Abilities: Camouflage: [C] - To toggle camouflage on/off Primary Attack: - Upon clicking or holding the left mouse button, Eophylliums will use simple bite that deal decent amount of damage Secondary Attack: Upon clicking or holding the right mouse button, the Eophyllium will uses both hands to rapidly slashes its enemy few times. They can also use weapons such as Stone Pick, Stone Hatchet, Metal Sickle, Wooden Club and sword with its hands to attack its enemy or to farm resources. They can also wield a torch to navigate darkness as their glowing body is not bright enough to emit strong light source. Jump: [Spacebar] - Female Eophylliums can jump from ledges to ledges while males can jump and glide to certain distance using its forewings. Passive - Reduced Fall Damage - Eophylliums takes little to no fall damage. They're able to fall from great heights without sustaining much injury thanks to their strong supporting legs and light weight body. Special Attack: [X] - Upon clicking and holding the “X” button, a round cursor will appear in the middle of the screen which can only be used on dinos. The ability is where the Eophyllium can switch its place with any dino the cursor points at. It can be used to flee from enemy or can be helpful when fighting. Special Attacks and Abilities Mushrooms acts as a boost for the Eophylliums (Mushrooms needed) Special Attack: [Z] - Upon consuming certain mushrooms, Eophylliums create a special gas around itself which have special abilities depends on the mushroom consumed. The mushrooms need to be in the inventory of the leaf insect to use its special abilities. Auric Mushroom Reduces radiation damages and immune to radiation sickness Ascerbic Mushroom Releases narcotic gas that increase topor of enemy dinos ( ifthe enemy dino is near the leaf insect, will increase its topor) Provide immunity to element biome Aquatic Mushroom Releases mist gas that hydrate player and immune to poison Aggeravic Mushroom Creates healing gas that heals player, itself and nearby allied dinos Advantages Regeneration (Aggeravic mushroom) Immune to radiation (Auric mushroom) Narcotic gas that increases topor of enemy dinos (Ascerbic mushroom) Hydration (Aquatic mushroom) Riders of Eophylliums can Camouflage along with them Able to wield weapons with hands for fighting or for farming (using Stone Pick, Stone Hatchet, Metal Sickle, Wooden Club, Sword and Torch) Able to switch places with enemy and allied dinos x 2 for farming Aggeravic, Auric, Ascerbic, Aquatic mushrooms Increased spoil time for mushrooms in inventory (3 hours) Resource gatherer (using Stone Pick, Stone Hatchet, Metal Sickle) - 20% for (Stone, Metal, Obsidian) Can climb wall Males can glide using forewings Egg thief Disadvantages Females unable to fly, only way of escaping is Camouflage or switching places They can only switch places with dinos in a certain radius. If the dino is too far away from their switchable radius, the ability will not work. Switching ability doesn’t work on bosses Despite the aggressiveness, they are slightly weaker than Reapers in combat. Even when camouflaged, nameless and reapers still spots them easily Eophylliums have high DPS but medium health pool, this makes it need to consume a lot more mushrooms during battle. When holding a torch, secondary attack doesn't work. Taming Wild Eophylliums cannot be tamed, to obtain a tamed Eophyllium the player must feed the female Eophyllium mushrooms. The player must put the appropriate mushrooms in the 0 hot bar key and approach a female Eophyllium to feed it. Once fed first time, there will be a process bar above it which will display egg laying duration. Players need to keep feeding it until the bar is full. During each feed, the Eophyllium will play an animation and will release a gas depends on the mushroom consumed. If the players are too close to the female during this time, they will try to hunt you, so it's better to get some distance after feeding each time. After successfully feeding it, the bar will be full, it will play an animation and an egg will be dropped by the female. Once the player gets the egg, the Eophylliums surrounding the area will get alerted and will try to take you down. Upon receiving the egg, the player must hatch it to get a baby Eophyllium. The baby Eophyllium only consumes mushrooms until their juvenile state, after the juvenile state can feed berries and meat. Adults can be mated but there're 2 possibilities. If the player got themself a female Eophyllium, because they are parthenogenetic, which means females can shift between sexual and asexual reproduction. If a raised female hasn't mated with a male before laying eggs, she produces eggs parthenogenetically where the embryos develop from unfertilised eggs, and females give birth to more females. The baby that hatched with asexual reproduction will be the clone of its mother. To obtain a male, the player must successfully get an egg from the wild that gives a male. Drops Forewings (Males) Meat Chitin
  5. I am simply curious because of the vague nature of the official difficulty values for bosses in ARK. Since I can't find a definitive answer, I am hoping someone can now share some insight. 1. Is it true that Singleplayer settings checkbox + 5x difficulty override do not affect the bosses in any way (it affects tamed dino stats/xp/breeding only)? 2. Is it true that there is no difference between official & unofficial (& PC dedicated) boss stat multipliers (so using Singleplayer settings checkbox on dedicated server with 5x difficulty override is the same as official for boss stat values)? 3. Is there a difference between official and singleplayer/non-dedicated bosses? I have seen invisibleqc's boss stat data figures mined from the game code: But still Ark players have anecdotal posts saying both yes & no for example: particularly intriguing is this reddit post which has extensive testing and found no difference in singleplayer/dedi: but also the last comment in this discussion with PFM saying he found no difference: This reddit post (although it may be wrong because they don't acknowledge the hard-coded resistance & damage multipliers given by invisibleqc) is curious as well because the patch notes are not clear and I wonder what the true interpretation of the following patch notes is when they write "multiplayer" (do these patch notes nerf SP then nerf dedi/official to match it?): Version: v254.3 Released - January 31, 2017 Singleplayer/non-dedicated bosses are reduced in damage and effective-HP by 67% Version: v261.0 Released - 7 July, 2017 Rebalanced all boss HP and damage to scale from 1x (Gamma) to 3x (Alpha) in singleplayer. This does not include The Center double boss arena, which has 35% less HP and damage than it's individual Island counterparts. Version: v264.2 Released - July 29, 2017 Fixed boss scaling for multiplayer sessions (approximately 67% easier) 4. If the difference is real, is Freespirit correct in applying his calculations to Singleplayer to match the official difficulty? Thanks for reading and I hope to get to the bottom of this once and for all.
  6. MACHAIRODUS Species: Machairodus Time: Late Miocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Similar to the Ark’s Smilodon brutalis, the Machairodus is a large species of saber-toothed cat that dwells in the mountainous biomes of Ragnarok. They are much larger in size, however, amounting closer to the mass of a Shadowmane instead. Machairodus also tend to hunt in packs of up to five. This powerful big cat possesses a pounce-and-tackle ability much like the Thylacoleo to survivors and even other small dinosaurs. It is pointless to attempt to overpower a pack with a larger, stronger dinosaur, however, as the larger a predator is, the more the Machairodus' primal spirit boosts their attack damage. Pack Alphas drop their teeth, a special ingredient used in their taming process. Tamed: In similar behavior to their wild counterparts, Machairodus are able to pounce onto unsuspecting survivors and small-medium dinosaurs. However, once tamed, the Alpha of the pack gains the ability to pounce onto larger dinosaurs and attach to them for as long as their stamina allows. During this time, the Alpha is able to inflict heavy bleed damage with a special "shredding attack" that deals immense amounts of damage. Additionally, as long as the Alpha is grappled, its packmates deal increased damage with a stacking bleed effect if being ridden. It's "primal spirit" feature is included in its tamed variant, making it a swell counter to the Ark's largest carnivores… especially the infamous giganotosaurus; arch enemy of this vicious, apex pack feline. The feature increases the amount of damage dealt to larger creatures and also offers a climbing damage reduction the higher the damage dealt to the machai is. It is heavily reliant on pack bonus, however. Taming: To tame these beasts of a feline, survivors must first gather Machairodus teeth from killing prides of them, only the Alpha of which drops its teeth. It is important to kill the whole pride, however, as remaining Machais will linger by their Alpha's body, making it difficult to dismount and retrieve the teeth from its inventory. Once a survivor has gathered enough teeth (provided they are high enough of a level), they will be able to craft a special weapon that is required for taming the large feline. A survivor must approach the pack on foot and allow themselves to get pounced by the pack's Alpha. They must have their crafted weapon equipped to their last slot for the tame to initiate, however. Once pounced, and provided the weapon is properly equipped, survivors will need to succeed through a series of dodges and counter attacks until the Alpha retreats into a state of "temporary respect." During this stage, the survivor must capture the Machairodus they wish to tame using a net projectile. After it is trapped, the rest of the pack will begin attacking and must all be killed. Only then will the trapped Machairodus fully gain the survivor's trust, though it will not yet be fully tamed. To build its taming effectiveness, survivors must offer a tamed sacrifice to be devoured by the Machairodus. The larger the creature and the higher its level will determine how high its effectiveness will turn out. Appearance: This tank of a cat boasts robust shoulders rippling with sheer muscle. Towards the rear they lean out, giving them less weight to support when latching onto larger creatures. Two scarily long canine fangs curve elegantly from their mouths, perfect for dealing damage and key to survivors for defending against them long enough to tame one. A short, spiky mane lines their back, ending at a short nub of a tail. Their rosetted pelts assist in blending in with their surroundings. Extra: I've created this concept primarily as a hardened giga counter. It's a much needed addition in my opinion, as even with the arrival of the carcha the giga has no true rival. Nothing matches its raw damage, and in typical PvP bases it's the most used dino for sheer power. In most battles between dinos it's just a matter of who's giga rages first or gets the most bites in. I think that the addition of the Machairodus would provide an even challenger for the giga, even if only in packs. In stereotype, the giganotosaurus is supposed to be the biggest and the baddest. So, a creature that only amounts to its power (but definitely amounts to it nonetheless) in packs, and with effects like an insane pack bonus and stacking bleed, seems like a reasonable counter to me. They would need a tanky amount of health to survive a giga long enough to kill it; something a lot of creatures lack. It would either not have a saddle period with such high health, or have an optional saddle for pure armor value to survive its rival's brute strength. It would be a late-game tame with a level limit on the weapon needed for its taming mechanic, meaning there would be limited speed-running to tame it. It's different and difficult method of taming altogether evens out for how strong of a creature it would be in general. The fact that it might not have a saddle or have an optional saddle unlocked at a later level would somewhat balance the amount of damage large packs would deal. I just really want to see people use something else for raw power in the game besides gigas, or to have something actually capable of killing them. Please consider the Machairodus, or offer ideas that you think might refine it!
  7. Common nickname: Megalohyrax Species: Megalohyrax eocaenus Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Neutral/Aggressive Megalohyrax,The giant "Rodent" like creature is a extinct Hyrax grouped herbivores mammals that went extinct 55 - 11 million years ago, despite they're appearance resembles a Rodent, they're much more related to elephants and manatees. Wild: In this scorched desert the Megalohyrax are usually social animals with pack consisting with many females and only 1 dominant male, while the females are very passive, the males are highly territorial and will attack anything including the player using their teeth away from their territory and the females, they're territory are easy to be notified with the horrendous smells coming from the dominant male, however outside of these social packs, you're able to commonly find a lone male, these males unlike the other one are neutral, meaning they will be passive until provoked, they're also form a symbiotic relationship with the nearby morellatops where if any of them were provoked, the others will help to remove the attacker, the Megalohyrax will also burrow underground once it's night time to avoid the cold and won't show up until the sun has risen Taming: This will be a long one, There's something to note about taming the Megalohyrax,You can Not tame the dominant males inside the pack of females because they're too aggressive and won't accept food when knocked out,the males you can tame are the solitary ones, they are passive tames and aren't really that hard to tame, just give them cactus pad and sometimes snuggle them to tame them, they're also important to tame the females, now to tame the female you need to use your megalohyrax to kill the dominant megalohyrax in their pack, your megalohyrax has to be unriden to do so, you can help your megalohyrax to kill the dominant megalohyrax but your megalohyrax has to be the one who delivers the last killing blow, once the dominant megalohyrax is dead you can set your megalohyrax in mating process close to the females of the pack, once the mating process is done you will have each and every of the females in the pack,of course they will be in a gestation period and will give birth to babies that you can imprint or ignore just for them to die or kill them because the colors looks ugly or because you need experience Tamed: Once tamed, you won't need a saddle to ride them but you can get the saddle at level 23 Abilities: They will have their normal bite attack and burrowing ability like the wild version and you will be able to burrow with the Megalohyrax when ridden, however you can also make the Megalohyrax to burrow a small hole in the sands that can act as a sleeping bag, with their slick foot they can also climb!, But only horizontally similar to the Thylacoleo, they also have some passive abilities, one of them is where if the Megalohyrax is in a hot place, they will be stronger and more resistant to damage from other creature, and when the map is in a heat wave, let's just say the Rodent like creature will go absolutely nuts, increasing their damage and resistance in an extreme rate and being immune to the yuty fear roar, with their saddle aswell you won't be affected by the heatwave at all, however when it's night time the Megalohyrax will automatically burrow and won't get out until the it's daytime again. Unrelated stuff: This is my first submission so i'am not really that kind of person who suddenly has the greatest ideas of all time, personally I know my submission will most likely won't win and I'm just happy that I can join this submission to add a creature into imo probably the most underrated maps out there, and apparently I can send an image of the creature 🦣,oh well that's sucks but anyways there really isn't much I can say anymore so uh good luck to the other submission I like(especially the maip one)
