  1. INTRODUCING THE EPIC........ DEINOCHEIRUS THE AUGMENTED CORRUPTED DINO DESTROYER AND DEFENDER. Perfect for taking on OSDs, element veins and gathering element Concept by me, Art by my friend Agnes and me ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello fellow ARK players! I am excited to present the Deinocheirus! I am sorry about the humongous amounts of text, but I want to explain this concept as good as possible. I have a section where I answer some questions about this creature further down in this submission! Anyway. Instead of the many other fish gatherer versions of this, I thought it would be cool to have a defender dino. Capable of supporting your dinos in any battle, or just being a powerhouse on its own. Hopefully you dont think its too OP, please excuse me if so. Deinocheirus means “Terrible hand” so I thought designing this creature around its powerful arms would fit perfectly, and since extinction have some creatures that have been changed by the element, then why cant this beast be it too? Please, hear me out 😀 A pair of mighty Deinocheirus arms (From National Geographic). Dossier Wild Standing the same height as a Rex, this is definitely the regions most deadly creature, so don't let the Deinocheirus beak fool you for its capability to deal damage. As its colossal arms, augmented by element, will pack quite a punch to anything foolish enough to approach it. Because if you do, the Deinocheirus can extend its arms for greater reach and damage, using the element augmentation, and even reshape its arms to great wings which it can use to glide swiftly through the air to catch you… Domesticated If you’re able to tame this mighty beast, you’ll find yourself an exemplary mount to traverse the barren wastes, as The Deinocheirus deals increased damage to corrupted creatures and can extract element more efficiently from Tek creatures. Their augmented arms make quick work of almost any attacker. Their ability to reach and push away enemies attacking supply drops or element veins makes it an easy task. Even their ability to guard the rider makes this one of the most prominent mounts a survivor can have. But they are slow and bulky, But what they loose in speed they make up for in strength. I have seen survivors fighting hordes of the corrupted with ease with these things, taking home all kinds of amazing treasures they found in the wasteland, mainly element. But also amazing loot from the supply drops that fall from Earths orbit. The most remarkable thing was that the rider and the creature didn't have a single scratch on them. NATURE After years of evolution and being exposed to elements volatile abilities, has caused it to fuse to the Deinocheirus gigantic arms, thus making element dust one of its main nutrients. But also giving it more abilities. Mainly the ability to reshape its arms into things it can use depending on the situation. The Deinocheirus is a neutral creature, and will only attack if threatened. They roam the watery trenches and pools of the sanctuary, and in the outskirts of the wasteland, looking for food and element dust in the water and also Tek/corrupted creatures to feast on their element. If you try to observe it with a scout, then the Deinocheirus will become aggravated, and try to eat it and consume the element inside. Abilities Passive It has increased element dust gathering from TEK creatures. (Like defense units, enforcers, scouts, and TEK creatures like a TEK parasaur) Increased element gains from element veins COLOSSAL extra damage against corrupted creatures It can turn around on the spot, like a Sarco or Beelzebufo Deals more damage to MEKs, which gives it a role in pvp as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Element mode This is a state which the Deinocheirus can enter to gain access to its core abilities, this will cost element dust, and then it will slowly drain the dust from your inventory over time. In this state your normal attacks will have unique animations and do slightly more damage and range, and deal increased knockback. Your arms will become more flexible almost (and a lot of almost, absolutely not as serious as in the video) like the Kos parasite from Bloodborne Kos Parasite Moveset. Extended Ground slam (Element mode) The Deinocheirus can grow its arms for extended reach and damage, which will damage a large area in front of you. This can, as an example, be used to damage a swarm of corrupted creatures in front of you, or catch a creature running away from you. This attack is used by holding and releasing the button, the range of the slam depends on how long you press it. In addition you can press the button once to do a normal slam which will affect an area around the Deinocheirus Super Jump (Element mode) Increase the size of your arms that you place onto the ground and charge a gigantic leap vertically into the air. This can be used as an escape or to traverse the barren wasteland of extinction. Also when you leave the ground, the enemies below will be stunned, much like a snow owl divebomb. In addition, you can use the the ground slam, which will have more AOE when used after the jump. This ability has a short cooldown, and you can charge it even when you’re attacked. Defense roar (can be activated during both modes) Perform an extremely mighty roar (loud and epic), which will give increased defense to nearby tames, and startle attackers, causing them to stop attacking your tames for a short period. Works very well when using other creatures with you during OSD and Element nodes. This ability has a cooldown. Glide (Element mode) The Deinocheirus have finally achieved its dream to fly, now that its “little chicken” wings are made from element. When you’re in the air you can extend and grow your wings to glide gracefully across the air. Similar to a parachute. This can be used for travel, and also to escape. Element Guard (Element mode) Transform the arms in to a forward facing shield which gives damage negation. This can be used if you’re taking excessive damage. You can also attack in this state if you want to push enemies away from a location and temporarily stun them (I intend that this is a pretty large area, so it is more useful and does not just push away one target). This is perfect when a powerful creature is attacking an orbital supply drop or element node and you don't want it to break. Inspired by Dark souls 3 Epic Giant door shield. Uppercut grab (Element mode) Thrust your claws in the air and grab a creature or player above you and slam them to the ground. which gives the Deinocheirus a way to deal with creatures or players in the air. This will be perfect for the corrupted pteranodons and the corrupted wyverns in orbital supply drops and element nodes, especially when you cant really hit them, then you can grab them instead and throw them in front of you, giving you a moment to damage it. Corrupted burst Consume a corrupted heart to gain a 25 second boost of increased damage, attack speed, and range. Your arms will grow to about 3x larger, and the blue veins will turn purple. In this state you cant enter or leave the element mode, depending on which state you activated this in. Almost like going super saiyan. But after 25 seconds you will have a duration of exhaustion, which will leave you vulnerable to attacks. This ability is used to get out of tight situations, like when you’re about to die, and you need to kill everything around you. A very high risk high reward ability. This ability will have a cooldown. Almost like this TAMING The player will first need to find a Deinocheirus, which they will in the trench in the sanctuary, or in the outskirts of the sanctuary, right between the border of the wasteland. First step you need to do is cover yourself in element dust. Which you do by placing the element dust in your hotbar and “equip it”. This will cover you in element dust, and it will also make the Deinocheirus smell and notice you. Scary right? Once it has noticed you, it will start smelling you. BUT, if you move during this process, its gonna think you’re a Tek creature or a corrupted creature, and it will see you as hostile, and start attacking. Therefore its important to stand still. Once it has smelled you it will take a hold of you and start absorbing the element from your inventory (You will need a lot, especially for high level ones). Make sure you have brought enough element though. Because if you run out of element dust, shards or pure element. Then it will throw you away, and get angry at you, lower taming effectiveness. Element dust will give the lowest amount of taming percentage, following with element shards, and then pure element, which will give the most amount of taming percentage. You will also need to refresh the element dust coating on your character, because if it would run out, the Deinocheirus will see you as hostile. There will be a meter inthe bottom right corner of your screen which shows how much there is left of your coating, giving the taming process a little bit more engagement If you succeed in coating yourself and have enough element, the Deinocheirus will be yours, your very own corrupted creature slaying machine. Questions What happens if i run out element dust while im in element mode? You will return to the standard “mode”, BUT only after a short delay. This will make it more comfortable, especially if you’re in the air, then you will be able to land before you leave element mode. My Giga or Carch does more damage than the Deinocheirus, isn't it useless for OSD’s and element nodes? No, even though your Giga or Carch might do more damage, the Deinocheirus will be able to push away and stun creatures and also give defensive buffs. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, you will be able to harvest more element from element nodes, there are no other creatures that can do this. You will be able to harvest the element with the Deinocheirus in its standard state. Isn't this extremely unrealistic? Both yes and no. BUT there are many other creatures that are unrealistic such as the Amargasaurus, which can shoot hot and cold spikes out of its neck… like what…? Also in a world with mysterious substances such as element, that literally corrupts and changes creatures, such as the Managarmr or Snow owl. Then why cant the element have changed this creatures abilities? I believe this just fits the aesthetic of the map more. This wouldn't have worked for, lets say, the island. There are no other element afflicted creatures. Can I run out of stamina in corrupted burst or element mode? In corrupt burst mode you will not run out of stamina during its duration, only when the 25 second buff runs out, after that you will get an exhaustion debuff, which will be a subtle decrease to stamina recovery, until the stamina bar is full. In element mode you can run out of stamina like any other creature. Doesn't this sound very overpowered? The Deinocheirus is meant to be a powerful creature, but it also has its drawbacks. First of all it is supposed to be be slow. Second of all, the creature “cost” element dust to use its “cool” abilities. Otherwise it would be completely broken, not everything cool can be free Why it should be added to Extinction A horrible 3D model and render by me 😀 The Deinocheirus will not only bring more life to Extinction, but it will also give players another option to destroy the corrupted dangers of the barren wasteland. The Deinocheirus will usher the players of Extinction in more ways to defend yourself, your base and your creatures, with its guarding abilities, increased knockback and its ability to stop attackers from attacking your tames. This, combined with its ability to harvest element from element nodes will benefit both PVP, and PVE. Doesn't the defending part satisfy you, then the amazing corrupted burst mode will, with its mighty power you will be able to destroy anything that might stand in your path. Soar through the air with its ability to jump, and glide with your gigantic reshaped wings. The Deinocheirus will make a fun, unique and immersive tame which will shake up the gameplay of Extinction and bring OSD and element veins more flare and excitement. (Quick note, it also would fit because it is afflicted with element, like many other creatures on the map) The Deinocheirus is a long overdue addition to ark, I am surprised it hasn't been added yet! Now it has the chance to get added, cooler and bigger than ever! This creature may seem complex, but I promise that its much more simpler once you’ve ridden on it. …If anything seems to OP or complex, or if you don't understand the reasoning, then tell me!I will gladly answer to feedback and suggestions. Please be nice 😀 Thank you for reading this submission!! Have and amazing rest of your day!! VOTE FOR THE DEINOCHEIRUS!!!!!
  2. Short: A brick wall using temporary dirt structures for utility and battlefield control. I've been working on this for a while, with feedback from Discord friends, but got a little bit overwhelmed by how fast the new suggestions went up. I hope you'll still enjoy it! Core Abilities: Tunnel While the Placerias can burrow, it does so differently from all existing creatures. While it can burrow up walls and through bodies of water, it does so very slowly and at great Oxygen cost, forcing it to surface after a short distance. But if you surface at a valid point (above water, either on flat ground or on a wall with a floor in front) it creates temporary "burrow" structures that work as a shortcut from now on - similar to an s+ tek elevator, if you're familiar, but with a much more limited range. Burrowing on top of an existing burrow uses it as the entrance, allowing you to link several to form larger networks. Excellent for shortcuts, ambushes, secret exits, and much more. Simply walk on top of it with your Placerias and it will highlight all connected tunnel exits, look at one while holding spacebar, and you and nearby small-medium tames following it will be teleported there. After a small digging animation, of course. The burrows decay if not used regularly, as to not fill the world too much. As temporary structures, they do not block spawns. They are invisible to enemies unless they stand almost on top of them, and if discovered, they can be blown up or have a Purlovia burrowed on top as a nasty surprise to anyone attempting to travel through. Dirt Wall With a great effort of stamina and a cooldown, Placeras can throw up a wide dirt wall. The higher its weight stat, the wider the wall. Excellent for blocking up chokepoints. The wall is very resistant to all but the stringest damage, but decays in less than a minute or when leaving render, and leaves behind debris that prevents you from building one in the same place. Any creatures swarming it will also be thrown behind the wall on creation. Including a 'turret mode' of sorts where it creates one when damaged or approached. Resistance to Damage over Time To complement their wasteland nature and allowing them to stay in combat for longer, their thick hide makes them highly resistant to bleed, fire, posion and lava, and completely immune to all other sources of environmental damage, such as sulfur pools, radiation, molten element or freezing water. Implacable While walking, they can push all but the largest of creatures around. Good for not getting stuck, pushing wilds into traps, or disloging Enraged creatures from Supply Drops. Clay Specialist While it can harvest wood and mineral resources, it only excels at gathering clay, collecting it whenever it would normally gather sand. Making it an interesting choice for builders. Temporary Ramps and Bridges In addition to the Wall, there are smaller temporary structures to choose from. Notably piling up dirt to form a ramp, each use making it a bit taller, or using gathered wood to form a bridge. (UI similar to a zipline. I imagine an animation where a tree appears out of nowhere in front of its snout which it then topples.) "Thick Skin" buffs I'm not 100% on this, as it migth be a bit hard to balance. Each time you are attacked you gain a small, stacking defensive buff. The more you have, the faster they decay. Would be great to increase survivability while swarmed. Using your regular Melee attack drains all Thick Skin points, but gives a short speed and damage buff, to help out your allies in tough spots. The more stacks you had, the greater the buff. Stats I'm no game balance expert, so these will be more suggestions than raw numbers. Health: High to Very High Stamina: Below Average Oxygen: Very High Food: High Weight: High Melee Damage: Low to Below Average Movement Speed: Low when walking, Average when sprinting, but at great Stam cost. Controls Main attack (left click): a bite/tusk slashwhen looking forwards, a kick when looking back. Mediocre damage, harvests bushes, rocks and trees. Secondary attack (right click): Create Wall. Crouch (C): Create Misc. Structure. Jump (Spacebar): Tap to create new Burrow. Hold to travel through existing burrows. Circle Menu (Hold R): Choose Misc. Structure type. Saddle (Art incoming!) Outfitted with rollover bars, spotlights and an erectable canvas canopy to keep the dirt out, this is a true living bulldozer. I imagine the player would lie on their stomach rather than sit, to lower the profile for tunneling. Taming To complement their digging nature, they are knocked out through a game of Whack-a-Mole. When damaged below half health, wilds will burrow until they regenerated. Players can then interact with the burrow to coax them out, starting the taming process. They poke out their head, and in this state, any damage dealt to them will deal torpor instead. After a few seconds, they burrow again and move unseen to a different spot and poke out again, repeated until they are knocked out. Letting them reburrow without taking damage removes a bit of torpor, and letting it do this too often will reset taming and heal it back to full. Additional Ideas Stuff I cam up with during brainstorming. May not be the most balanced things, and not vital to the playstyle. These are not serious suggestions, more records. Using resource nodes as weapons. A special attack that throws rock nodes, topples trees, explodes lamp posts, etc. Might be fun, but very niche. Mud Puddle temporary structure Kicking its back legs repeatedly, the ground and creatures behind the Placerias are covered in mud. Greatly slows attackers, but also gives them some damage resistance. Wooden Spike temporary structure created using wood from your inventory. When stepped on, it deals high damage (like 250 + 10% of max health), but is destroyed in the process. Megaphone Saddle A megaphone mounted on the saddle provides increased Whistle range. As this is already a creature you want to be mounted on for its full potential, this would help out singleplayer and smaller tribes greatly. I hope you enjoyed my suggestion, despite the rather scuffed and temporary art. I'll see if I can get some proper animations to you over the weekend. (Just need to remesh my sculpt into a workaple model, do the UV unwrap, slap some textures on, do the rigging, and take some Ark screenshots to photoshop it into. Maybe even rip some models from the files so it has someone to interact with.)
  3. Lobster Art commissioned from RiskyBiscuits, Dossier Sketches commissioned from Lapis. Dossier by Me. Name: Giant Lobster Species: Pemphix Gigantstation Time: Triassic Temperament: Aggressive Wild Just when i thought the ARK’s Oceans were terrifying enough, I come across this oversized Lobster I’m calling Pemphix Gigantstation. This Giant Crustacean has two unique claws, one for grabbing its prey & a more sharper one for stabbing. When it isn’t walking along the ocean floor, it can be seen occasionally hiding in the sands of beaches with only their antenna sticking out. Survivors must not approach a buried Lobster unless they plan to tame one. Domesticated If you managed to tame this Giant Lobster, you’ll find that this Megalodon Sized Crustacean has some incredible utility both inside & outside of combat. The Giant Lobster acts at your Underwater Daeodon, able to heal allies both on Land & Water!! It can even latch itself onto ally creatures, healing at a much faster rate and making its ally invulnerable to damage. It also has incredible mobility being able to walk the ocean floor, swim, walk on land and even climb surfaces with the help of its powerful claws. Abilities: Left Click: Claw Attack (Becomes jab attack if holding a target) Right Click: Grab (Press again to release) (Ability inspired by Elden Ring Lobsters) C: Healing (Can be used on Land & Water) Lobster has a healing bar that starts at 0% but increases at it heals its allies. At 100% it can latch itself onto a single ally super healing it while also preventing the creature its latched to from taking ANY DAMAGE for a period of time. As its Latched, the healing bar will decrease, once the bar reaches 0%, Lobster will detach itself then you need to heal allies to do the super healing ability. (Ability Inspired by TF2 Medic & Ubercharge) Taming: You need to let The Giant Lobster Grab you with its Claw and before it stabs you with its sharp claw, feed it Extraordinary Kibble where it will drop you and become passive for a little bit before becoming aggressive again. Repeat until Tamed Saddle: Lv 65 UNIQUE ENCOUNTER: THE BLUE LOBSTER A Blue Lobster has a 1% chance to spawn in the wild in place of a Regular Red Lobster (HA, I made a funny). It can heal much more than Regular Lobsters but it also has the Unique Ability to launch a powerful Pistol Shrimp like Stunning Punch that stuns targets for a period of time (Cannot be Spammed). Pros: Bulkier & More Combat Version of the Karkinos, Ocean version of Daeodon, Can Climb on Surfaces Cons: Slower than Crab in walking/sprinting, while it can swim it's not as fast as some of the ocean’s fastest swimmers (about Basilo speed), Can only carry one creature compared to Karkinos carrying two, while it can climb, it's not winning any marathons as it is a very slow climber NOTE: If Lobster doesn't win, He'll be back for Gen 1 & Crystal Isles Votes THANKS FOR READING!!
  4. 🦁Feral Sovereign: Presenting the Panthera Spelaea🦁 ⛰️The Panthera Spelaea is an extinct species of carnivorous mammal belonging to the family Felidae, which lived in what is now Spain and the British Isles in the west up to Alaska⛰️ 🙀."Witness the Feral Sovereign, the Panthera Spelaea. With its Roar of Dominion, it commands the battlefield, weakening foes' resolve. The Bite of Energy Drain saps their vitality, a true conqueror's strike. As the Cave Shadow, it prowls the depths with unmatched prowess. Clad in its Guardian Pelt, it defies the elements, a protector in every sense. A true Hunter of Horizons, its vision spans day and night, tracking all with precision. Bow before the Feral Sovereign, the embodiment of primal supremacy."🙀 👉READ THIS BEFORE YOU START👈 It gives us a lot to present this project in which we have been working to try to give the best proposal. First of all, I would like to clarify that the reason why we chose a big cat is because we see that Ark only exists today, the saber-toothed cat, the Shadowmane is a fictional animal, and the Thylacoleo is a marsupial, so we treat to obtain the best attributes of the Panthera Spelaea to have a strong suggestion and a chance to expand the niche it would work in. Being more a type of predator that can attack its prey in a fast and forceful way, rather than opting for a long and repetitive fight in the aspect that it is not a battle for "mashing the buttons" 👀Size👀 respecting the large size it had in ancient times, we take into account that Panthera Spelaea is larger than a thylacoleo but smaller than a shadowmane, being a midpoint 💥Wild💥 Panthera Spelaea is a ferocious animal found in the northern part of the icy mountains, being more specific in the rocky areas where their dens are located where they rest. For the most part, being in herds made up of females and males, due to their thick fur, they are able to withstand the low temperatures that few are willing to endure. It is possible to see that the temperament of the Panthera Spelaea changes depending on the gender it has, with the females being the most aggressive, hunting small creatures in groups and the males having a temperamental attitude, being close to their den tending the young of the herd. During the night is when the Panthera Spelaea becomes more dangerous since in this case the whole herd together with the alpha male hunting large prey due to the leadership of the Alpha which seems to make the females more lethal than during the day. 💥Domesticated💥 The survivors of the ark have realized that it is impossible to subdue an adult Panthera Spelaea and teach it commands, it simply ignores anyone other than its alpha male and when the alpha is captured they go into a state of crisis and disperse. separating the herd and killing their young by starvation. Seeing that the only viable way to try to have this mount is to wait until nightfall so that the herd leaves its lair and thus can take its young. Panthera Spelaea young, due to their young age, it is easier to teach them correct training until they reach adulthood, resulting in a powerful, strong, agile and fast hunting animal that by itself shines a lot but when in a pack it becomes becomes one of the deadliest animals in these lands. 💪SKILLS💪 1. Mighty Roar: 🙀it is a powerful roar that allows him to remove the states in which he can be found by his enemies (poison, bleed, stun, etc). This ability must be used carefully as it takes a long time to activate again.🙀 2. Overpowering Bite: 🏃‍♂️Due to its powerful fangs, every time the Panthera Spelaea charges its bite and bites an animal or a person, the victim will suffer a drain that will cause them to lose energy.🏃‍♂️ 3. Cave Predator: ⛰️The Panthera spelaca has developed exceptional agility and strength in confined spaces, such as the caves on the map. She can move easily and quickly in tight terrain, making her a formidable threat in those environments.⛰️ ⛰️In addition, his visual acuity allows him to track prey and enemies in environments underground, following clues and tracks to locate their prey with ease.⛰️ 4.Lethal Dart: 💥The Panthera spelaea attacks with a fast and precise movement, dealing lethal damage. Activates tactical retreat which makes you 20% faster to escape before enemies can counterattack, leaving only a fleeting flash💥 💥if faced with a large animal, Panthera Spelaea will be able to jump and cling to its body causing this powerful bite💥 5.Nocturnal Guardian Fur: 🥶 Its fur is thick and with color variations. Making it harder to spot at night, while providing warmth for your rider and nearby companions..🥶 6.A good companion: 🦴 Keep your Panthera happy with food and petting, and it will purr, giving you and nearby animals a small experience buff.🦴 🦴It would work almost the same as that of the lystrosaurus🦴. 7.Improved vision: 👀Its excellent vision allows it to easily identify other predators compared to the human eye, during the day being able to detect carnivorous animals and improving its vision considerably during the night detecting both carnivores and herbivores, having a very broad perception of the animals around it.👀 Taming 🐈‍⬛To have a Panthera at your disposal without being attacked you have to look for a herd made up of males and females: the male specimens will be closer to the cubs taking care of them and having a temperamental attitude while the females will be around them being aggressive. You must be skillful enough to capture one of the cubs from the pack in your arms and escape from the parents as quickly as possible before they realize your presence, if they do so the cub may get scared and lose taming efficiency once in your hands raise it and bond by teaching it to hunt, keeping it clean, healthy and well fed, keep a close eye on them, they are known for short attention spans and arrogance..🐈‍⬛ 👉Basic statistics👈 Health: 850 Stamina: 450 Oxygen: 250 Food: 1750 Weight: 500 Melee damage: 100% Movement speed: 100% Torpor: 850 👾First mammal with Tek Mount👾 🤖Considering that this big cat is a killing machine, we suppose that after ascension you will be able to equip it with a tek mount capable of projecting a holographic shield to protect its front part. Adding also a pair of thrusters that allow him to make his jumps wider and maintain his top speed for much longer.🤖 Agradecimientos a AngelGamez,Neto,Boryini y Cetcat por ayudarme con las imagenes 😃 (En breve actualizaremos las imagenes, las de ahora de momento son bocetos todavia)
  5. All art made by me! My creature is the Thoracopterus , a giant flying fish. The creature itself in real life wasn't much bigger than a modern flying fish, but this is ark, and the Rhyniognatha is a thing. It is big enough to ride, say Sarco length, and design wise if you have seen avatar 2 with the giant flying fish that they ride, it's lightly (but not entirely) inspired by them. Also, unlike literally every other creature submission, mine is not a 'giga counter but_________' it is unique and has a purpose. Abilities: - It can skim across the top of the water just like real life flying fish, tip of the tail in the water, top half out of water - You can use weaponry on it without having to enter first person mode, as long as you're not underwater - it can launch itself extremely high out of the water into a flight/ glide mix, gliding through the air but also flapping it's 'wings' occasionally to travel up - it can breathe oxygen indefinitely, but requires water every now and then to keep it hydrated, but the hydration does slowly go down, so luckily to now not have to stay near water at all times it has 8 water canteen slots on it's saddle, which fill up it's water meter when it's low, and can be manually refilled by hand, or all automatically refill upon contact with water, as well as it's water meter. - it can 'run' on land at about the speed of a parasaur, if not slower, which is uncanny because it moves on land by sort of shuffling and jumping forward, but to get airborne again it simply just does a leap into the sky and continues gliding - like the griffin, it has a divebomb/ swoop it can do while gliding, and if you dive into deep enough water from a high enough height it can stun nearby creatures - it can shoot water out of it's mouth like some species of fish, to dismount players off birds up to up to the size of an argy, stunning it if it is wild, at the cost of either being in water or using one of it's eight water pouches - it's 'wings' glow, and can produce a glowing dye that is by default white, but when mixed with any other dye becomes a glowing version of that color - immune to jellyfish/ eel shocks - counter shaded. not really an ability, just an adaptation that ocean predators often have for camouflage - like a dolphin, it can echolocate, highlighting all creatures in the area similar to the desmodus, but with further range underwater )because sound travels farther underwater) - weight reduction on raw fish meat by 75%, silica pearls by 25% all dyes by 50% hide and chitin and keratin by 50% angler gel by 25% and metal by 75% - it is not aggro'd by any sea creatures, excluding mosas and plesis So there you go. A midgame mount, good for pve & pvp, that isn't insanely overpowered, relatively fast, actually unique, so it's good for travel and would probably be used regardless of where you are in the game. Also it doesn't fit the description of 'just give _______ a tlc! This is it without any saddles This is the tek saddle (currently updating it to look closer to the new head model) Tek additional abilities: -A charged super bite attack (like shadowmane) -Legs to run mush faster on land, no longer having to lean on it's wings, now at the speed of a deinonychus -A jet to fly significantly faster in the air, and underwater -top and belly armour to take reduced damage on the top and belly, but still taking damage as normal from it's side Dossier- wild Something seems amiss with this creature. It's not just the size or the eerie uncanniness; it's the unsettling feeling that it simply shouldn't be. The anomalies are too pronounced to ignore; one could say the evidence points to genetic manipulation, but by whom and for what purpose, I cannot say. The Thoracopterus, as I've come to call it, defies conventional classification, blurring the lines between land, air, and water with an unsettling ease. This beast possesses an ability akin to that of dolphins, using echolocation to sense and locate anything within its vicinity. A sensory prowess usually reserved for marine life, yet this creature carries it with an unsettling confidence. But the strangeness does not end there. The Thoracopterus is no mere fish, for it can venture onto land and relentlessly pursue its prey. Escaping its pursuit is a futile endeavor; cliffs and parachutes offer no refuge, as it can pursue its quarry in the air with relentless determination. The creature's enigmatic intelligence adds to its eerie nature. It seems to comprehend danger, avoiding projectiles with an unsettling, almost preternatural awareness. Attempting to ward it off may prove only momentarily effective, for once it locks onto a target, it will persist until either the prey or itself meets its end. Moreover, the Thoracopterus possesses an astonishing leaping ability, scaling heights that defy reason, rendering the advantage of higher ground obsolete. Dossier- Domesticated tamed I stand astounded by the audacity of those who dare to tame such an enigmatic beast. The taming process, an underwater rodeo of sorts, is a perilous endeavor where merely holding on is a feat unto itself, given the Thoracopterus' unparalleled speed. Yet, for those intrepid souls who triumph in this endeavor, they will find themselves blessed with the ultimate traveling companion. Tamed, the Thoracopterus showcases its multifaceted nature, becoming an unparalleled asset in both PvE and PvP scenarios. A master of the aquatic realm, it navigates the waters with astonishing speed, becoming a swift and reliable underwater steed for any survivor seeking rapid aquatic exploration. But it doesn't end there. On land, the Thoracopterus runs with an almost inexplicable grace, defying expectations with its ability to move on terra firma. This incredible agility allows it to cover ground like a blur, making it an ideal choice for scouting missions and daring escapes from adversaries. The creature's flight capability elevates its prowess even further. In the face of a daunting confrontation with a formidable player and their powerful dinos, the Thoracopterus offers a unique advantage. With your weapons drawn and securely positioned on its back, you can unleash a torrent of firepower upon your foes, all while maintaining a stable third-person view. Yet, when a swift retreat becomes the need of the hour, the Thoracopterus becomes the ultimate escape artist. Its leaping ability propels it to unimaginable heights, from where it can gracefully glide away, leaving pursuers far below in awe and wonder. Adding to its mystique, this extraordinary creature produces a peculiar glowing dye, which, when mixed with any regular dye, transforms the colours into an eerie luminescence. The resulting spectacle can only be described as otherworldly, adding a touch of the fantastical to any survivor's creations. Proof it's a real extinct creature ^ How it would skim across water ^
  6. COMMON NAME: Vulpes SPECIES: Vulpes Alopecoides TIME: Early Pleistocene DIET: Omnivores TEMPERAMENT: Timid Creature History Foxes split off from the Canidae lineage around 10 million years ago. (Canidae are wolve and later dogs) The first red foxes originated in the Middle East before beginning their journey of colonization across Eurasia to Siberia, across the Bering Strait and into North America, where they eventually founded the North American population. Dossier Wild Vulpes in the wild are usually found as individuals or as a duo and prey on small creatures like dodos to ants. Though when approached by anything bigger they either hide in bushes nearby or make a dashing escape. While not much is known about Vulpes history due to very little found in the fossil record these ones grow to a bit bigger in size compared to their modern day relatives. They still feel a little more different, as if the environment here has affected them to bring something more out of them? While being a little too big to have on your shoulders, survivors have made a little pack for their little friend to carry on their back that can quickly unfold to a harness for survivors to wear so Vulpes can have a comfortable ride along with their survivor friend. While that the mane uses it allows them to carry gear at further weight reduction and contains a portable mortar and pestle that can be usefully used when far from home. I still wonder whether this invention would work with other animals like Hyaenodon? Domesticated Once tame these fellows can become quite friendly towards you and survivors near them start to perform better in recovery to their strength. While they are very encouraging toward survivors they are also quite useful themselves being able to act like a backpack similarly to a Sinomacrops but when equipped with their harness they carry weapons and ammo at greater weight reductions. Can be picked up in hands but too big to go on back. So special harness would allow fox to be carried on back --harness could also be used for other small creature that can be pick up but not on shoulder like hyena --harness would also act as a mortar and pestle can carry artifacts can be used as a backpack like Sinomacrops equipment and ammo weight reduced by 90% can hold torches or glow stick in their mouth for you normal color regions back red/orange underside white ears black legs black tail red/orange face marking black happiness meter decrease slowly over time increase when feed favourite food will eat regular meat or berries first but when they eat/force fed(like a treat) give favorite food buff for 20 mins 25% happiness pet last for 30 minutes 25% happiness friend near (default to 25 %) 25% happiness comfy carry gear (still works if wingsuit is equipped(wingsuit take priory for visual as fox can just lay on their back when gliding)) 25% happiness mate boosted 25% max 100% 1 extra for another method encouragement buff if happiness is above 25% -weight reduction 10% -boost stats --healing boost --speed --stamina use --melee speed --fortitude --crafting taming while they are timid in the wild, survivors need to prove them self to the vulpes by killing any predator that aggros on to them, once killed the vulpes will approach the survivor in curiosity and can follow up offering a treat like kibble or special recipe like battle tar tar (kibble less rewarding than special recipe). once started they will not fear you but still keep their distance (this will get less there more trust you build with them). once you build enough trust vulpes will join your tribe (you tamed them)
  7. General appearance: A small arthropod posses massive eyes compared to its relatively small body. Dollacaris posses claws used for attacking prey and ones for propulsion. Location: The dollacaris is found in abundance underneath the floating island The Center has become best known for. However they can be found in the open ocean, but much less reliably. Behavior: The dollacaris, while small, is a strict carnivore. However due to it's size and poor swimming ability the only thing on the menu for these unfortunate creatures are already dead creature and trilobites, as neither of those are very good at running away. This gives them a relatively skittish temperament, fleeing from most creatures and survivors. Taming: Due to the aforementioned skittish behavior this creature is a difficult one to get close too, this does not bode well to anyone wanting one of these small allies. And to top it off it is IMPOSSIBLE to sneak up on one of these creatures, no amount of ghille and bug repellent means otherwise. So clever survivors have been able to lure these creatures close with food, aka, a corpse. Once this creature begins eating one can than approach it with its favorite food, pearls. Black pearls work best but a more cost effective method does lie in silica pearls. Tamed: When tamed (luckily for all of us) this creature does eat meat after being tamed. However you don't want this creature for eating your food so what does it do? This creatures massive eyes allow it detect just about anything in nature and even things invisible to the naked eye. This is most apparent when a male and female dollacaris are "linked" to eachother (a setting accesed in their behaviour tab). When activated the male is set to be stationary, able to be latched to various surfaces, and survey an area. This adapted in nature so that the male could gaurd young dollacaris while the female stays with the young. Through the linked female you can access the males view of his nearby environment just about anywhere (his view range is about 20 feet in any direction). The male in this state can see things such as drop contents, creature level, and creature gender. This is not all its useful for, when given 100 black pearls and the dermis of any one creature, this creature can locate any member of the species that the given dermis belonged too in a given area. This can be done up to 3 times as the dollacaris is a small animal with a small brain that can get overloaded with information easily. The detectable creatures seemingly can't be swapped out as the dollacaris grows an affinity towards them and won't let you take away its precious dermis action figures. Misc: the dollacaris can half the weight of anything in its inventory. Despite being aquatic it can survive out of water just find, however, it is remarkably slow on land. Credit given to user Ladyteruka for ideas regarding this creatures abilities
  8. Pterodaustro was a Filter feeding Pterosaur with Whale like Baleen teeth. Their diets whould have been very simular to those of the modern Flamingos. However unlike Flamingos, Pterodaustros hindfeet had webbing making them also good swimmers. Vote for Pterodaustro if you want a hybrid between Flying and Swimming Mounts! The Dossier: WILD Out of all Pterosaurs, Pterodaustro must be the strangest looking one ive met yet! Its Webbed feet and its baleen like teeth make it an exelent Swimmer and a Filter feeder. Pterodaustro often can be found near beaches searching for its prey: Trilobites and Clams. Seeing them fly above the water and diving in searching for food, i have to say is a majestic sight! DOMESTICATED While they are easy enough to tame for they dont care much for humans unless provoked but even then Pterodaustro whould rather flee than fight, their food isint as easy to come by however. While their hunger is satisfied with Chitin once tamed, they refuse them when wild. However one thing these Pterosaurs love are Pearls. With a handful of Silica pearls or Black Pearls you are sure to make a friend out of Pterodaustro quick! Pterodaustros Beaks arent very well adapted for combat however what makes up for it is its ability to harvest immense amounts of Silica and Black Pearls from Clams, Trilobites and Sea Scorpions! Pterodaustro are ecxelent for exploring areas with rivers, lakes and oceans for i have noticed that upon leaving the water they seem to be flying faster for a little while. Making traveling near water sources fast! Is leaving the safety of your dino to gather Silica pearls worrying you? Well worry not! With Pterodaustros Beak it can collect clams and their pearls for you with no danger of leaving your dinos side! Info: For more info on Pterodaustro see the Link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterodaustro
  9. INTRODUCTION Prehistoric canines have been a favorite topic of mine for years now, and I’ve always hoped for any of the different species to be added to ARK as a competitor against the direwolf. Their history is incredible and their different structures and anatomy are even more impressive; with the Xenocyon lycanoides having caught my eye the most as it looks like some sort of mix between a borophagus, a gray wolf, and an African wild dog. There are loads of opportunities with this creature, and I hope to explore all of them in-depth in this creature submission. NATURAL HISTORY Xenocyon lycanoides was a hypercarnivore that lived in Africa and Eurasia throughout the late Pliocene and early Pleistocene. It’s the ancestor of the modern dhole and the African wild dog, though Xenocyon itself was much larger than its descendants. It was once even a competitor against the direwolf, with larger size, bulkier strength, and being even more hypercarnivorous— though its small numbers couldn’t win over Pleistocene North America, and the North American population dwindled and eventually died out. DOSSIER WILD “A dangerous pack hunter, Xenocyon lycanoides is known to use its sharp teeth to inflict intense bleeding in its prey. With high stamina and long legs, this canine can run and run for miles. Its howl alone is enough to terrify smaller critters, and their packs have incredible familial loyalty.” DOMESTICATED ”The adults are far too aggressive to tame, so in order to get your own Xenocyon, you must passively care for the pups. However, once tamed and raised to adulthood, your canine companion will assist you in caves, hunting, and even taming other creatures with its unique abilities.” UTILITY The Xenocyon is an efficient and incredibly useful utility mount through and through. Its abilities consist of: - BONE-BREAKER: Right-click attack causes a bleed/bone breaking effect, which slows down the opponent and causes them to lose health over time. This effect stacks. - PACK BONUS: In groups of 3 or more, the Xenocyon gains a damage and defense buff. It is also able to locate other tamed Xenocyon in its pack by pressing X and highlighting their outlines with a resounding cackle. - FEAR HOWL: By pressing C, the Xenocyon can let loose an intimidating howl that scares away most smaller creatures, such as raptors, pegomastax, icthyornis, and even humans. - “SADDLEBAG”: Though it can be ridden, the Xenocyon does not have a saddle; instead, it has a “saddlebag,” a pack that acts similarly to a preserving bin while reducing resource weight and still providing armor. - INSULATION: The Xenocyon provides a small insulation buff to protect its rider against the elements. This works particularly well in heat, while not particularly functioning as well in colder environments. - SNEAK: “Sneak mode” can be toggled by pressing R, allowing both the Xenocyon and its rider to gain increased stealth. The stealth equivalent is of ghillie, and can prove to be useful for taming skittish creatures or skirting around dangerous animals without risk of being noticed. - LAY DOWN: Tamed Xenocyon can be toggled to lay down, which allows their health gain to be slightly boosted. However, while laying down, it cannot be toggled to attack and is vulnerable to getting killed by aggressive creatures and players with no means to defend itself. - STAMINA: Long legs and an affinity for long-winded hunts gives this creature immense stamina, allowing it to pursue prey for miles. - TRACKER: With left control, the Xenocyon can sniff and lead you in the direction of whatever animal you’re searching for. However, this ability can be risky to use, as the Xenocyon will get excited and run towards the smell whether it has a rider or not, although it stops outside the selected creature’s aggro range. Using this with the Sneak ability provides an excellent method for finding and taming creatures. - RIVALRY: When around direwolves, the Xenocyon gains the rivalry buff, granting it extra damage and defense. SPAWN LOCATIONS AND TAMING The Xenocyon is known to spawn in warmer, more open climates, such as vast plains, deserts, and oases. They spawn in packs of 3 - 5, with pups tagging along with them. In order to tame a Xenocyon, you must imprint on one of the pups, but be warned: adult Xenocyon are very protective of their young and won’t hesitate to eliminate any other threats. EXTRA NOTES - Its eyes glow similarly to a Troodon in the dark, as they’re highly reflective. - It has three idle animations: a basic one where it stands and breathes like any other creature, a slightly more complex one that consists of it pawing at its face, and one that can only be toggled by being near other tamed Xenocyon. This animation is where the tamed Xenocyon checks up on its packmembers, sniffing them to ensure that they’re okay. - It growls when around a direwolf (whether tamed or wild), and will only stop when away from the wolf. I'm bringing him back for this one so that he can get another chance :D)
  10. Firstly, thank you Maira for proof-reading for me! ^^ Inspired by the Spanish Dancer and various marine flatworms, as well as my love for the ocean and my desire for Ark's seas to be a little less dangerous and slightly more tranquil. Prehistoric Creature: Outside of the Spiny Wiwaxia, we have very few records of shell-less opisthobranchs, as they've nothing but soft-tissue, and soft tissue makes for very poor fossils. However, we do know that opisthobranchs (marine slugs) have been around since the Carboniferous era. What we DO have, are trace fossils: Climactichnites and Musculopodus. Climactichnites were the large trails of what was obviously a large, slug-like mollusk, while Musculopodus were large flat areas on aforementioned trails that represent the body imprint of the animal when it was stationary. We know the opisthobranch was roughly 30cm wide from the climac. trails, and we know that it was roughly 70cm long from the muscul. imprints, though we know very little else. Nudibranchs are a very old and diverse family - it felt wrong to leave them out, just because so little fossils remain. Abilities: - tba Passives: - Oxygen Regen - Jelly and Eel proof - Passive Biotoxin generation Taming Method: These creatures are quite lethargic by nature in the wild, and take very little notice of any survivors trying to get it's attention. The only thing that seems to wake it up enough to realize there's good food to be had from this funny frog thing swimming beside it is - ammonite bile. Unfortunately, ammonite bile tends to... wake everything up. But don't forget these nudibranchs have their special ability. Stay close to the seaslug, and maybe, just maybe the half a dozen sharks swimming mere feet away won't notice you. Get too far from the slug, or run out of oxygen... and you may just have a problem. ... Feel free to leave suggestions, comments, opinions, and anything else that comes to mind in the comments! I'd love to head and see anything you wonderful people wish to share!

  12. Greetings! Have you ever wondered about the most banal insects that everyone hates (who will love them at all?), mosquitoes. So, meet! A GIANT BIOLUMINESCENT MOSQUITO! It is a representative of the Macrochile family (not to be confused with Macrochilo). He will be the only flying creature on Aberration. And now I suggest you read the 6-page dossier I hope you enjoyed my creature. This is my first vote in which I participate. I hope Macrochile finds its place in this game. But even if you want to vote for someone else, for example, Miracinonyx or Maevia, then everything is fine, vote , I like these creatures myself. Ideas. The giant mosquito is open to ideas. You can offer your ideas and maybe I'll add some to the mosquito. Good luck. I wish good luck to everyone in this vote.
  13. While being little to big to have on your over your shoulders, survivor have made little pack their little friend can carry on their back that can quickly unfold to a harness for survivors to wear so Vulpes can have a comfortable ride along with their survivor. While that the mane uses it allows them to carry gear at further weight reduction and contains a portable mortar and pestle that can be usefully when far from home. Flora appear to have a unique effect on them as I saw one eat an auric Mushroom and their tail and ears started to glow like glow pet, although the effect was temporary as it wore off later that day, I wondered what other mushrooms would do. Taming While they are timid in the wild, survivors need to prove them self to the vulpes by killing any predator that aggros on to them, once killed the vulpes will approach the survivor in curiosity and can follow up offering a treat like kibble or special recipe like battle tar tar (kibble less rewarding than special recipe). once started they will not fear you but still keep their distance (this will get less there more trust you build with them). once you build enough trust vulpes will join your tribe (you tamed them) Can be picked up in hands but too big to go on back. So special harness would allow fox to be carried on back --harness could also be used for other small creature that can be pick up but not on shoulder like hyena --harness would also act as a mortar and pestle can carry artifacts can be used as a backpack like Sinomacrops equipment and ammo weight reduced by 90% can hold torches or glow stick in their mouth for you normal colour regions back red/orange underside white ears black legs black tail red/orange face marking black happiness meter decrease slowly over time increase when feed favourite food will eat regular meat or berries first but when they eat/force fed(like a treat) give favourite food buff for 20 mins 25% happiness pet last for 30 minutes 25% happiness friend near (default to 25 %) 25% happiness comfy carry gear (still works if wingsuit is equipped(wingsuit take priory for visual as fox can just lay on their back when gliding)) 25% happiness mate boosted 25% max 100% 1 extra for another method aberration specific abilities mushrooms give extra effects Auric when eating auric mushroom the vulpes red coat starts to glow light blue light up nearby and protecting from the nameless Aggeravic increase healing , decrease hunger , decreased thirst Aquatic decrease oxygen use , decrease stamina , increase swim speed , increase running speed Ascerbic remove the previous mentioned buffs Rare Mushroom make any creature(being tamed) nearby tame quicker 1 rare mushroom last for two minutes and stack up to 60 minutes additional 10% per taming progress being added e.g. 5(%taming added)+10%=7.5 being added encouragement buff if happiness is above 25% -weight reduction 10% -boost stats --healing boost --speed --stamina use --melee speed --fortitude --crafting
  14. Introducing Brontoscorpio, the Elemental Radiation King! - Wild Well, this is surely a sight to behold! It seems like the elemental rivers have been able to turn this prehistoric scorpion into a mutated version of its former self. It commonly hangs out around the brightly colored magenta liquid but ventures out of the water to defend its territory from any of the other respective predators in the area. After watching the past couple of fights this species has been in, I can confidently say they can hold their ground incredibly well. From their giant claws crushing medium sized carnivores, attackers getting a taste of the elemental rivers when they bite one, to a deafening roar that sends a pheromone into the air that buffs nearby allies, and more, it's surely a creature to be weary of when you come across it. - Taming Method Wow! The Brontoscorpio really has a temper! I've seen survivors getting too close to them and having their tames grabbed by it and having venom get injected into it from its huge stinger. Oddly enough, after releasing its venom it scampers off and lays down for a little while. A couple of survivors have been able to get close to it while it's resting and feed it freshly caught lampreys in fish baskets, being able to gain its trust. - Domesticated Survivors I've talked to who have been successful in taming this gigantic scorpion have been able to craft a saddle for it that keeps them protected from any radiation they receive. While some use the Brontoscorpio's claws as a way to transport tames for harvesting resources, others have been able to use the creature itself as a way to harvest resources, mainly black pearls, but some have even being able to dissolve elemental ore into element dust! While it's familiar in a water environment, it's extremely versatile, being able to climb vertically escaping any threat that might cause it any harm, and if that doesn't do the trick, then it can burrow underground, stationary, for a temporary amount of time. Attackers should be cautious though, foes that get a taste of the Brontoscorpio also get a taste of the radiation that it lived in, while the effect lasts for a couple seconds it's better to gauge your distance. In one battle I witnessed I saw a tamed Brontoscorpio commanding a pack of Pulmonoscorpius, giving them a buff very similar to now a pack of Megalodons work together. Shortly thereafter it bellowed a roar and released a pheromone into the air that allowed other allies to possess the same venom as itself While it's certainly a team player, it can deliver damaging blows with its claws, but its venom it injects is putrid, slowing down prey, draining the foes stamina and ultimately removing 5% of the opponent's health over a period of time. As well it is resistant to being tail-whipped by a Reaper. While it's easy to maintain their diet with spoiled meat, be careful when raising your very own Brontoscorpio though. Just like a Reaper King that attacks at younger stages in its life, the Brontoscorpio follows suit and does the same, but male and female Brontoscorpio's can mate together once they've reached adulthood. - Attacks Left click; Left claw hit Right click; Right claw hit Left click (hold); Left claw grab Right click (hold); Right claw grab C; Stinger attack C (hold); Stinger continuous attack X; Roar Z; Burial Original Creature from history
  15. Primitive tetrapod that lived in the Upper Devonian Carnivorous Length 8-9m | height 1.5m real animal design inspiration: fire salamander how it looks like in the game Presentation: this salamander has adapted to living in the bodies of water of Aberetion, learning to exploit all the toxins present in the waters, in the vegetation and in its prey, accumulating them in its body to be able to use them both as a weapon and as a defense. Acanthostega is immune to all poisons and narcotics indeed finds them very tasty. Survivors will be able to use this creature that uses chemistry as its weapon to overwhelm all their enemies. Wild: It is usually found in water spots of the bioluminescent biome, waiting near the banks for prey. It is aggressive and territorial towards creatures and survivors. One of its signature strikes is the "poison curtein" capable of easily stunning who breathe it, it is used both to surprise prey, but also to escape from stronger creatures. Domestication: To train this creature, the survivors must throw a poison grenade (or other poisonous gas such as the basilisk's breath) on the salamander to sweeten the character for a few minutes, so the survivor can offer bio-toxin or the venom of titanoboa ,megalania and nameless to train it. In fact, the salamander is immune to poisons and to all blows based on poison such as the basilisk breath and the poison wyvern Trained: Once trained, this large salamander proves to be a powerful biological weapon, capable of assisting its tribe in stunning creatures to be trained or the creatures or survivors of enemy tribes. Attacks: Simple Attack: Simple frontal bite (30 power) Tail Slap: A tail slap that slams targets behind the animal and knocks back creatures similar in size to or smaller than a raptor (30 power) Poison Curtain: Poisonous breath that covers a large area in front of the pet inflicting large amounts of torpor, the attack consumes a lot of stamina poison shoot: the animal splits a jet of venom at high pressure and range, inflicts torpor Abilities: Toxic defense: her body is covered in toxic mucus that poisons any creature that damages her with bites and the like inflicting torpor, the skill is only active when the salamander has more than 75% hunger. Toxic revenge: if the salamander is killed and its body devoured, the animal that ate it will be instantly narcotized. Venom Boost: gains 20-25% bonus stamina and health regeneration if hit by a poisonous attack or it eat poison item in its inventory (like poison vegetable, poison mushroom or venom of other animal), the normal bite become a poison bite Saddle: The saddle allows you to collect a part of the toxic mucus produced by the salamander's skin thus obtaining a poison that can be used to produce poisonous arrows (30 units per day), salamanders produce poison only if they have more than 75% hunger. In the salamander saddle crafting menu, it will be possible to produce a special poison (using 30 units of salamander poison or titanoboa, megalania and nameless poison) that is capable of completely filling the torpor of an already narcotized creature.
  16. Diamantinasaurus The Behemoth Cave Sauropod Art by Brian Engh from dontmesswithdinosaurs.com Dossier- Name: Diamantinasaurus Time: Late Cretaceous🕰️ Diet: Herbivore🌱 Temperament: Neutral😐 Wild The Diamantinasaurus is a colossal herbivorous sauropod from Australia commonly found in both the green and blue zones. Large plates that adorn the Diamantinasaurus' back serve as protection against predators and the radiation within the Ark. Unlike most herbivores, the Diamantinasaurus possesses a highly developed sense of aggression when threatened, enabling it to fiercely defend itself by utilizing its immense size and powerful tail to fend off potential predators. In the wild, the Diamantinasaurus employs its large front limbs to pound the ground, similar to the roll rat, in order to unearth gems. Taming When taming the Diamantinasaurus, its back plates will glow in either green, blue, or red, corresponding to the three gems found in each zone. These colours will alternate during the taming process. The survivor will then need to drop the gem that matches the colour of the plates. However, once the Diamantinasaurus consumes a gem, it becomes aggressive, and any attempt to ride a mount will result in the Diamantinasaurus knocking the rider off. The taming time will depend on the level of the Diamantinasaurus and the difficulty of obtaining the required gems, so survivors must come prepared. Domesticated Once domesticated, the Diamantinasaurus can be utilized to significantly enhance the efficiency of harvesting various gem nodes scattered across the diverse zones of Ark Aberration. In addition to this valuable capability, the Diamantinasaurus possesses other abilities and utilities that make it a versatile asset in this challenging environment. Primitive dual catapult saddle: the catapults mounted on the Diamantinasaurus are reminiscent of the trolls' catapults from Lord of the Rings. Positioned on either side of the Diamantinasaurus, they accommodate two individuals, much like the seating arrangement on an Amargasaurus saddle. This setup serves as both a PvP strategy and an alternative to taming the Karkinos, albeit with the inherent risk of the Karkinos still having the capability to snatch the two individuals operating the catapults. It is worth noting that the saddle itself can sustain damage through extensive use, but higher tiers of saddles may possess greater durability. Radiation protection saddle: despite its higher cost compared to the primitive alternative, boasts infinite durability without the inclusion of the two catapults. It provides the rider and two others with protection from the radiation in the red zone, as well as from the effects of the spores found in both the green and blue zones. Attacks Ground pound: will dismount players from dinos and will harvest more gems from nodes Reduced weight from gems Tail swipe: pushes back dinos and harvests berries and thatch Charge: breaks through wood and thatch however has a large cooldown Passive abilities Dorsal plates will glow with corresponding buff in each zone green, blue and red- Green higher speed Blue quicker cooldown and larger AOE of ground pound Red Higher defense/attack and the dorsal plates will grow thicker and sharper Passively produces light in all zones
  17. (Wildcard is censoring all mention of it’s name with sausage, keep in mind it’s real name is on the dossier, the L is to avoid censorship) When I was a young child, first getting into prehistory, I loved looking for the superlatives, the biggest dinosaur, the last mammoth, etc. But there was one that eluded me, the oldest. The dinosaurs lived a long time ago, yes, but reptiles are older, and fish older still. Eventually I was lead to the Cambrian and the explosion in life that many of our modern lifeforms can f trace there ansestors back to. But I still wanted older. Then I found it. A small group of organisms, called the Ediacaran biota, strange animals from many millions of years before the Cambrian. They were unusual, quilt-patterned animals that resemble ferns more than you or I, the tri-laterally symmetrical disks, and the largest of them all, the one-and-a-half metre Dlckinsonia. When I first read of these, little was know, were they even animals? Fungi? Some unknown experimentation of life? Nowerdays, they are nearly universally believed to be animals, but the much mystery remains. Many years later, I first booted up and played ark, I loved the game, and it would rapidly exceed all other of my games in playtime. I loved the game, as I adored prehistoric life. Only last year, I begun a playthrough on Aberration, while the last two votes ment less to me as I wasn’t on either Scorched Earth or Ragnarok during the vote. But because I was playing on Aberration, I have an idea of what creature I’d want on the map. Have you ever wanted to build a base where you shouldn’t? Perhaps near the fertile lake or in the more rural regions of the blue zone? Have you feared that nameless or reapers May spawn if your light pets ever run out of charge? Or been inconvinved by having to travel far to reach a charge node? Well I have a solution, the beast from long before all others aboard the ark, Dlckinosonia! Here’s a transcript of what was written on the soldier above: -Wild. I had long believed the trilobite was the oldest animal to be found, but while journeying beside through the lower parts of this broken ark, I found something much older. Dlckinsonia luxavora congregates around the bioluminescent -Domesictaed. I doubt Dlckinsonia has the brain power to be domesticated, but by taking advantage of it’s hunger, one can be lead to a more useful location. So, what use would this pose to you, as a survivor? Well I have two main ideas. First off, if you wanna make a base in the blue zone, you often need to fill it with glowtails and featherlights to prevent nameless from killing all your tames, I prepose Dlckinsonia would resolve this by acting as a standing charge source, giving off charge light permanently in a certain radius, with no need to recharge. Along with this, my concept includes the ability to function as a charge node, allowing you to fill up your batteries or craft element from your base. Finally, it would be able to accumulate oil in it’s inventory, helping ease the resource’ rarity on aberration, How would you tame such a beast? Well for this I prepose something similar to the beloved method of the troodon, you have to feed it your tames. But not just any tames, your light pets. This will cause it to rear up like shown on the dossier, giving it effectiveness when it kills them. Rinse and repete and you got yourself a anti-reaper carpet. As I know from the Dinopithecus wildcard loves to give creature submissions some usability for PvP, so I suggest possibly giving it bear trap/plant species R functionality, where a player walking near will be trapped and have to button mash to escape, giving the, use outside of aberration. To adresss some possible questions: Do you mean this to be an upgrade to/replace light pets? No, unlike lights pets, it is not pickupable by hand, and I intend it to be more of a base deafense/utility tame. Where would it spawn? I’m thinking it would spawn rarely around the blue lake, and more common around the crystalline lake deeper in the blue zone. Why should I pick this over the Reaper Emperor? It’s all up to, I am proposeing this to help take some of the lategame grind away from aberration, maybe not adding to much, but making it a more enjoyably experience.
  18. My suggestion is the Ctenophora, it looks like a jellyfish, but it does not belong to the cnidarea family, with fossils dating from the Cambrian period, it would be a shoulder creature, it would cling to the survivor from the back with tentacles, it would be transparent and with bioluminescence. While clinging to the survivor, she would have an ability to camouflage herself and the survivor, making both invisible, she would be found swimming in the liquid element, to be able to tame it would require a tek armor to enter the liquid element safely, the food it would be element ore, for balance issues, I imagine that invisibility could have a 10 second cooldown after becoming visible before being able to use it again, and that when attacking it would become visible again, invisibility time would depend on stamina. It would be a passive taming, we would have to give it elemental ore, it could only mate inside the liquid element, after being tamed, it would not die out of water, but it would be unable to move, just lying on the ground waiting for someone to come to take. In the dark of night or in caves it would glow with its bioluminescence, although it doesn't give enough light to illuminate anything, it would be nice to see it glow, with luminous tentacles wrapped around the survivor's torso and arms. Another ability it could have is when in water, it strives to supply its survivor with oxygen, spending its stamina, only recovering it as soon as it leaves the survivor's back or when the survivor leaves the water, thus, the stamina it is a very necessary status, and therefore it should be used well.
  19. Atopodentatus is a versatile mount with a unique niche, and will serve as a very unique critter. I must give credit to INDOMELEON since they inspired me to give the ability of shooting projectiles from atopodentatus mouth after I saw their concept art for it. Here is the initial concept art for atopodentatus. ATopodentatus' niche and abilities 1. it will have 3 species, The one with the square bill like face(sb) and split upper jaw(suj) 2. Only creature that harvests the 3 seaweed types 3. Different playstyle for both subspecies 4. Available to tame at lvl 35-50, not decided which lvl exactly you can start taming them 5. Creates resin with seaweed and atopo saliva, paired with sand and minerals can create bullets or globs respectively SB: 1. multiple skull Joints, to make it look like a x shaped gun at will(switch modes) looks like indomeleons atopo dossier shooting mode 2. Chemical reaction from atopo saliva, different types of seaweed as well as bio toxin that creates a special resin used to create the atopo bullets that sb shoots. 3. Seaweed(green, red, and blue seaweed)- normal atopo bullets, deal close to as much as longneck 4. Purpleweed(purple sea weed)- shoots splits resin to multiple sections, to shoot like a shotgun, deals shotgun type damage 5. Blackweed(blackish-green sea weed)- like normal bullets, but provides poison debuff to target, draining stamina, and draining small bits of health 6. Bio toxin- like normal bullets, but can apply a small amount of torpor, and can shut down generators and turrets, This also puts SB in a drugged state, making it jumpy and fast, cnidaria are the only live animal that they eat(hint at taming) 7. Imune to cnidaria bio toxin 8. More pvp based 9. Slightly larger SUJ: 1. Has a split upper jaw, making it more suited for eating floating seaweed, it also eats small fish. this also makes it able to create globs of 2. Chemical reaction from atopo saliva, using different types of seaweed that creates a special resin, used in narco globs 3. Seaweed- used to create normal globs, sticky, like rhynio resin good for trapping small sized creatures 4. Purpleweed- used to rapid fire 3 globs, applies 1.5x damage than normal glob+2x trap power 5. Blackweed- applies large amounts of torpor per glob SB: Common Name: Atopodentatus Species: Atopodentatus SB Temperment: Passive, flee when provoked unless in groups Time: Mid Triassic Diet: Herbivore unless knideria nearby WILD: Atopodentatus SB can usually be found basking on rocks or grazing in the shallow seas of Ragnarok. These creatures seem to be able to distort their jaw structure to use it as a gun, using bullets put of a unique resin like substance. A Notable feature of Atopodentatus, is that they seem to trigger a frenzy after they see knideria in their proximity, and after gourging pn bio toxin, will enter a drugged state(like being drunk), in this state they will be vicious when provoked. They also look like the goofiest creatures on The Ark with their angry and cartoony looking faces. DOMESTICATED: Atopodentatus are pretty hard to tame, In which you will have to feed it bio toxin to make it groggy, then you will have to feed it seaweed(only way to get it without an atopodentatus is with a sickle, this is much slower). The atopodentatus are fast creatures especially in water, being able to traverse like a fish even though they aren’t fish. You will also be able to Utilize their unique ability to become a living turret gun, whith a unique resin-like substance created with atopodentatus’ saliva aswell as different types of seaweed and some salt from the water to create special bullets. These bullets’ affects vary on which seaweed type is used There Is Much more to cover, however this will be posted at a later date, also i dont have a full concept art or dossiers(yes there will be 2) right now, but sooner or later they will be posted. Anyways, I do have some WIP concepts and a sticker to show. In conclusion, My main goal is to bring a unique, special and mostly FUN creature to the huge roster for Ragnarok. I hope that you like the concept and GOOD LUCK!!! I am also taking ability suggestions, If a suggestion is good I will add it to the Submission and credit the person who suggested it.
  20. i find a nice submission from the Fjördur vote from PuutyCuuty and will post it her again Species: Hippocampus Sarmaticus/Leviathan Time: Middle Miocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive I feel Ark's oceans need a bit of love. What better way than with a new mount. Seahorses are pretty cool looking as well as sea dragons, and who wouldn't want to ride around on one. A saddled mount of course They're like master ninjas, so this mount could have some sort of camo ability, maybe when they're within underwater vegetation. They could function similar to an underwater purlovia, and their first strike from being hidden could cause massive burst damage. Kinda like sneak damage. Because of this sneakyness, make all wild creatures non aggressive to it unless provoked. This includes the jellies. In fact, let's make this creature immune to jellies shock to have another mount to fight against them. Maybe even have cnidaria actively run away from them like the piranha does to the sarco. These could be the best biotoxin gatherers. (A sea slug pic, but the patterns and appendages look cool, and I invision this ark creature taking visual cues from it) Seahorses also are very tanky with their bone like ridges down their body. Instead of their body and tails being cylindrical, they're more square, thus able to take more damage and even be compressed and be able to bounce back unharmed. This means the ark creature could make for a very tanky mount with possibly even recoil damage. Add a good saddle for even more tanking. Seahorses also have great mobility, so it can control similar to an underwater Tapejara. This is a very interesting video below about Seahorses. Utility is a big thing the ocean needs too. With the males pouch, it could function as an underwater maewing, able to nurse or improve imprints. Maybe a player can use its pouch to be transported underwater and give oxygen. Again, immunity to jelly stings. They have these cool prehensile tails too. They can use this to latch onto different things underwater to stay put, and enter a sort of turret mode. We can use these prehensile tails to grab small to some medium sized creatures, which has a multitude of uses, but also make it able to pick players underwater from their mounts. To balance this, make it ridden only or something. These tails could have another purpose too. There aren't any underwater shoulder pets. Until they're grown, while they're still a baby/adolescent, they can use the tail to become a shoulder mount. Adding stun immunity or reduction, or adding armor and recoil damage to the player while assisting in battle with their attack/breath. The balance to this would be that it's temporary, until the baby reaches a certain size, then it auto dismounts. Killing cnidaria could make it grow faster, or feeding it biotoxin. It would speed up raising. You could ignore this mechanic to keep it smaller for longer to keep the shoulder benefits, because it's raise time could be long without using it. With all these positives, maybe give the creature lower stamina, or make it opposite of the bear. Super fast burst speed that eventually slows down. Same with dps. Stupid high burst speed dps, that slows a lot over time. The way I imagine it looking is some kind of Seahorse/Seadragon hybrid with some draconian features. This is ark afterall, and some dinos aren't 100% real world accurate, so we can spice this up a bit. Another cool option would be some kind of underwater breath attack. Bubbles that stun or slow so they can assassinate prey, or superheated water jet, but I'd like for them to have some sort of poison breath. It would go with the assassin theme. This poison would accumulate in its inventory similar to acatina, maybe increasing production for a time with cnidaria kills stacking. We could coat our weapons or even dino claws with the poison to give special debuffs and inreased damage per hit for a time. This would benefit high attack speed dinos a lot like the raptor, giving more use for its faster attack buff from its alpha call.
  21. Introducing Madtsoia! Initially, I wanted to suggest another creature, but it did not fit into the theme of the map in any way. Having decided to somehow connect this with the theme of the map, I remembered Jormungand and thought about adding a large snake, the choice fell on Madzoya. I tried to do it in an unusual and interesting way, fitting into the balance. I hope you like it. I don't know how to draw, so I won't be able to provide a dossier and a drawing of a snake. Only the description of the appearance and the text of the dossier itself. Sorry if there are mistakes in the text, I don't know English so well. Dossier: Common Name: Madtsoia Species: Madtsoia Simpson Time: Eocene Diet: Carnivorе Temperament: Aggressive Wild These snakes are hiding in the Ark jungle. They are excellent hunters, both day and night. Madtsoia are wary of animals that are much larger than them in size or pose a serious threat. They are found in small groups of 2-3 individuals, but single individuals are not uncommon. Few managed to survive a collision with them. Madtsoia waits for the victim in an ambush, after which he makes a swift attack. If the prey is still alive, he grabs it and begins to strangle it. The creatures can break out, but that's all the snake is waiting for. Her skin secretes a poison with soothing properties that will not allow them to escape far. The fangs of the Madtsoia contain a unique venom that softens the tissues, which makes their bites more deadly. They are also immune to tranquilizers. Domesticated I've seen tribes use a group of 3 snakes while attacking other tribes, often throwing them into battle with other creatures. They were not the main attacking force, they helped in the attack of another domesticated animal. I also noticed that the survivors use arrows smeared with poison. The use of Madtsoia to tame wild creatures has also been noticed. Madtsoia is an amazing snake when it comes to offspring. They can be called viviparous, although in fact this is a common delay in laying eggs. The egg is preserved and develops in the mother's body, as a result of which a small snake is born. Appearance: In fact, Madtsoia looks like something similar to a python or a boa, but the game already has a Titanoboa, so it needs some kind of external feature. I think the resemblance to a atheris could beautify it. Unlike the real Madtsoia, in the game it will be longer than Titanoboa. Gameplay: Let's look at the features of Madtsoia in more detail. I must say right away that a lot of things were invented by me, and a real animal could not have this. For example, this snake actually has no venom. I made it so that it would become much more interesting and useful. As indicated in the dossier, arrows and darts with tranquilizers have no effect on Madtsoia. To tame her, you need to use other animals. By feeding her a certain number of parasaurs or rexes, you can gain her trust. Madtsoia herself eats any meat, even rotten. A saddle on Matzoya would be a mid-game or late- game, but there is no need for it. You can use the snake functionality without it. Abilities: Lmb: Bite. A standard bite attack from a medium distance. Rmb: Swift attack. A long attack, but very powerful. During this, the snake curls up and prepares to strike. The harder you hold the button, the more powerful the attack is, but if you hit Madzoya when she is preparing for it, the attack will be reset. C : Thermal imager. The same as a Snow Owl. Ctrl: Grab. This attack is very similar to a swift attack. The snake also collapses when the key is pressed, but after releasing it, the snake will jump forward. The harder you hold down the key, the further the jump will be. If there is not too big or too small creatures in the way of Madtsoia, she will throw off the rider and grab the victim, otherwise she will simply attack. Utility and features: As I said above, the Madtsoia will be useful without a saddle. This is a big live bolas. He can link creatures slightly larger than Rex and those who are smaller. If you order her to attack with a whistle, she will grab the target, thereby making it easier for you to kill or tame another creature. In addition to immobilizing the target, Madtsoia, thanks to the sedative that her skin secretes, will help you put to sleep and save the number of spent darts or arrows. Madtsoia brings a new effect to the game. Let's call it "Softening". This effect increases the damage done and can accumulate. Each bite has a 40% chance of dealing it and increases damage by 10%. For example, your creature has dealt 600 units of damage, and under the effect of "Softening" it will deal 660 units of damage. With repeated application, the percentage of increase will increase by 10%. That is, if you apply the Softening Effect twice, the damage will increase by 20%. Maximum damage can increase by 50%. Each bite of Madtsoia has a chance to impose an effect. This effect does not increase the damage from bleeding, fire and other effects. Madtsoi have a herd effect and the main reason you have three snakes is to improve the "Softening" effect. The head of the pack will impose a "Strong Softening" effect. When applying a "Strong softening", it is impossible to apply the usual one. "Strong softening" works the same as usual, but the effect is superimposed with a 60% chance, and the damage can be maximized by 100%, that is, doubled. The dossier said about arrows with the same effect, but how to get them? Everything is very simple, you will need to approach the tamed snake and select "Collect poison" in the circular menu. It is impossible to collect Madtsoia poison from the dead. Arrows are made in a pocket when using a stone arrow and poison, and tranquilizer dart on a smithy when using ordinary darts and Madtsoia poison. Arrows impose a "Softening" effect with a 100% chance, but for a much shorter period of time. The food in Madtsoia's inventory spoils faster. Madtsoia has infrared vision, which can facilitate night walks. Also a nice addition to the snake is its ability to detect an alpha creature. If an alpha creature appears within a certain radius of it, then Madtsoia will emit a prolonged hiss. The closer the alpha creature gets, the louder the hissing. Another useful skill of Madtsoia is that she can become a living incubator for the eggs of your rexes and other egg-laying creatures. They can also carry Wyvern and Drake eggs. A snake can incubate only one egg, but they will not need certain conditions. In order for the snake to incubate the egg, it must be put in an additional inventory cell. I assume that you need to make a separate cell, approximately where the cells for skins and sedelas are. Conclusion: I hope you guys enjoyed this concept! I know that there are already snakes in the Ark, but why not diversify the game world with another and useful one. I will be glad of your comments and edits. If you liked my ideas, then I don't mind that at the next vote someone will suggest Madtsoia, because I'm thinking of suggesting different creatures for each vote.
  22. My idea for Ragnarok is the “Sky Yuty” the Kalligrammatids, a way to get sap efficiently considering we’d not instantly have acces to the sap giving tree stumps when ASA launches so this would be a good substitute, a creature that works well with the other creatures that dropped with this map originally (Ice Wyvern and Griffin) and another useful flyer since there’s a con about basically every flyer. First off for spawns I’d feel like it’d be at home mainly in the large redwood forests aswell as perhaps the canyons and highlands/wyvern den they’d behave similar to a Quetzal and Tapejara at the same time, flying somewhat high in the sky and never landing like the Quetzal but being very skittish like the Tapejara, I also think that due to its aerial buffing nature it’d be interesting if it’d not get attacked by other wild flyers and perhaps receive protection from them similar to the Ammonite. Next up for abilities, Left click: simple attack with legs or sucky straw Right click: pickup in the air (can pick up similar things to an Argent or Desmodus) and wing flap on the ground similar to a Wyvern C button: a buffing call that’d mainly buff things essential for flyers like for example: weight reductions, stamina based buffs, reduced damage (especially for projectile based attacks) and maybe a speed buff for slowpokes like the Quetzal, Argent and Astrocetus (Space Whale) . X: taunt/debuff, would work similar to the Rhyniognatha’s taunt on small creatures and/or would give survivors a debuff where they take increased fall damage or can’t use parachutes, glide suits etc to increase the effectiveness of picking people off mounts with flyers. Passive(‘s): wouldn’t get attacked by flyers (possibly only for wild ones), could potentially buff other flyers passively for example a slight buff in resistance, stamina regen, speed or damage and the Kalligrammatids could maybe gain a small buff by being around other flyers maybe even from specific ones like gaining a slight fire resistance from Fire Wyverns or being able to land on water like the Rhyniognatha when near a Pelagornis. Movement: on the ground it’d be pretty slow and not agile similar to the Lymantria like real world butterflies but in the air also similar to real butterflies would have a speed in between the Tapejara and Pteranodon while also being very agile like the Tapejara, Griffin, Desmodus and Rhyniognatha allowing it to go sideways, up, down etc. Stats/Tier: in terms of health it’d be similar to the Argentavis due to its bulk and size (might drop a size reference later), the stamina would be in between that of a Pteranodon and Argentavis with it having similar weight to a Desmodus maybe slight higher due to its size and large wings, in terms of damage it’d only deal low amounts of damage similar to Gasbags although probably slightly higher damage. Diet: Sap, Blood, Rare Flowers also that being the order of preference when taming, sap being the Mejoberry/raw meat, blood being the crop/prime meat and the rare flowers being the kibble or at least similar to mutton in effectiveness. Drops: would definitely drop: Raw meat and Chitin and would also maybe drop: Prime meat, Silk and/or Sap. Sap production/gatherer: there’s 3 ways I can invision this critter collecting sap, number 1 being: it buffing already existing sap taps maybe working extra well with Amargasaurus (could also apply for the other methods in some way) number 2: it collecting sap from the smaller redwood trees when it destroys them similar to how a Desmodus collects blood packs from creatures unlike any other creature, number 3 (and my favorite one): it hanging onto redwood trees like the Tapejara and with that passively collecting sap at a faster pace than tree sap taps (since tree sap taps are slow and look boring) . Taming method: eat a rare flower, this causes the Kalligrammatids to smell said rare flower and/or your sweat (like real life butterflies sorry for exposing this weird fact) which causes them to want to come close, this causes a sort of minigame in which other creatures will attack u (which wouldn’t damage the Kalligrammatids) but it’s not like u can fight back because that would scare it off, when it comes close enough and if you’ve survived upto this point you can passively feed it the earlier mentioned taming foods. My reason for choosing this creature: we already have a butterfly (I know it’s a moth but they’re very similar things) but it’s useless so I thought it’d be cool to get a new one, besides that the only useful insect is still pretty much just the Rhyniognatha so why not add another one + a giant butterfly would look insanely cool and I feel like with the ground work of this submission and the creatures we’ve been getting lately (mainly the Rhyniognatha and Carchar) I feel like the possibilities for this thing could be endless, especially on a new engine, besides that I just really wanted to add a creature that’d fit the map and the other Ragnarok exclusive creatures (eventhough they’re not really exclusive atp) which brought me to a flyer that could buff others + sap is hard to get and this way it’s way more fun than waiting on your tree sap taps + it’d fit the map perfectly with it being a majestic high flying flyer that could possibly roam above the huge cliffs (the ones with the armies of Spinos at the bottom), roam around the red forest’s canopies and could fly around the wyvern trench (like other insects). Hope you like this submission, if I can I’ll get some art to get a perspective on design and size, leave suggestions down below if you want (sadly the only good picture I could find is too big to add to the submission so you’re gonna have to Google it yourself if u want but to be fair we all know what a butterfly looks like). 23. Common Name: Elephant Bird Species: Aepyornis Maximus Group: Ground Bird (Flightless Thunderbirds) Pack/Herd/Flock Behavior: 2-3 adults per spawn, 3-4 young per spawn Time/Era: Pleistocene and Holocene Idle Temperament: Docile Temperament On Hit: Skittish Diet: Herbivore, Insectivore Feces Size: Small Tameable: Yes Breedable: Yes Rideable: Yes Mounted Combat: Yes Saddle Level: 40 for saddle bagged, 50 for multi-mount battle and 60 for small platform Creature Harvesting: Seeds, Berries, Fiber, Thatch, Chitin, Sand, Cactus Sap, Honey On Death Drops: Bird Skull Trophy, Raw Meat, Occasional Raw Prime Meat, (a new resource to make arrows) Feathers Real Facts: Looking much like thick Emu, they are currently known to be the largest thunderbird/ratite. Compared to other birds in its family it is not the tallest but stands in around 9 to 11 feet tall, only a bit shorter than the Giant Moa. In terms of weight they are estimated to weigh in at around 1,600 to 1,900lbs...not far from a ton! The Aepyornis egg is 7 times larger than an Ostritch egg and sandy brown in color,it weighs in at around 18 to 20 pounds in fossil weight! Wild Info (lightly based on real facts): The nests of these birds are rather unprotected in the wild and are vulnerable to predators and humans alike. The nests are dug in sand and buried in a mound in the open dunes. While the nest is left vulnerable most of the time, if you pick up an egg with a parent near you will be attacked. Aepyornis is immune to the angering/aggro effects of rare flowers so stealing an egg may be the only way to get the birds attention in that regard. Wild nests do have eggs but they will not be fertile. This is because the eggs lose effectiveness quickly when not in a nest. This means that these creatures are pretty rare and have a small population. There is a few distinctions between males and females. Unlike other birds, females are the more colorful ones and will be mostly black with a pinkish neck and head. A shade of blue under their chin and upper neck. White rings plumed atop the legs. Males will have more patterns but they will have tan, brown, auburn and some light to dark grey on their underside. This leads the females to look nicer in the wild but breeders will prefer to mutate the males to look better for show (See Images). Males are usually slightly smaller as well. Both males and females will have feathers/hairs on the top of their heads that are slicked back most of the time. They will stand up when upset in certain situations. Colors of the beak and legs usually match and are not tied to genders...those colors are usually tans, browns, greys, pinks, oranges and black. Tamed (Domesticated) Info: Tribes see Aepyornis much like they see a good work Equus but some claim that they are not meant for battle and only have use for egg farming, meat and work related chores. The Aepyornis is well known to have great speed that rivals the Gallimimus but it takes a moment to pick up to that speed much like a Dire Bear. That being said, unlike the Gallimimus it has much better handling. One bad weakness discovered is that it does not swim well and while it has above normal oxygen levels it is vulnerable if in deep water. This means if traveling to or from lands on boat, make sure they are not going to fall in the depths. Otherwise, these birds are known to be pretty hearty and have a large stamina pool. They make to be versatile mounts. There is multiple (3) saddle types for Aepyornis for different types of roles and utility. A saddle that is built light with saddle bags, great for looting or escaping threats. A saddle built for battle with a bit more armor and an undercarriage for a second person! The other saddle is a tiny platform saddle that is great for structural protection from storms but has a negative effect on speed the heavier the build on it gets and it gives immunity to the sandstorms while equipped. They can carry a good sized workload while using the lighter saddle, a bit more than an Equus. They have small to moderate damage in battle and they can cause a small bleed effect when using primary attacks using its beak. Its secondary attack is a hop kick that causes knock back similar to a procoptodon but be aware it hurts a bit more because of talons! These amazing creatures have other amazing abilities such as being immune to venom. This ability makes them the ultimate swamp travel mount. They also have the ability to forecast storms like a Jerboa but while they give warnings of storms, they do not directly tell you what kind of storm like the Jerboa. They are known to have a small buff against insectoids and will get a small chance of chitin when harvesting plants. Taming: They are both passive and aggressive tames but not in the traditional ways. The method of taming the Aepyornis can be a challenge to tame. One must first attain Rare Flowers because this is the only thing they will eat from you in this process. Once they eat from you they become affected like you would by the flower and than will stand in a cartoon ostrich pose and hide in plain sight! Now you must defend the bird until its ready to eat again but be warned that if the bird gets hit...it will remove the entire effectiveness and run away. There is an alternative to the passive defense method but it will lose some levels. This method is to knock it out while it is aggressive after stealing an egg from its nest but be careful because they are weak to tranq arrows in this state and must be hit in the right place (neck) for maximum torpor. A good rifle and darts are recommended. Breeding/Farming: First things first, before you decide to breed and farm these majestic birds you should be aware that they will require your full attention. Their eggs lose effectiveness rather quickly so you must act fast and be ready. You will also need to build a sandbox nest to bury the eggs in,it is required. This birds eggs can not be placed in incubators but you can have one of your Aepyornis actually sit on the nest to incubate them. An issue was discovered that these birds are a bit like a Gacha when kept. They will not be happy in large groups of their own kind and it is found that a tamed flock maxed out per territory is one male and 2 females. You will know if they are unhappy if the hairs/feathers on their head stand up. It is possible to keep more together and let them be unhappy and stressed but than they will produce low level eggs. They will also not lay non fertile eggs if unhappy either. Baby Aepyornis chicks will eat seeds until adult but will ask for Longrass or Regular Kibble on care. Other Notes: These birds are not called thunderbirds for no reason. They have a taunt (idle defense mode toggle) ability to ward off small to some medium sized threats by thumping the ground with their feet causing a dust plume and a rumbling sound like a herd of elephants. This has a similar effect to the Parasaur ability but works on a bit more creatures due to the sheer size of the bird.
  24. TO THE REPOSTERS OUT THERE: Gigantoraptor will return for future contests! If I think my concept will fit thematically, I will very much be posting it again. 2nd place in the whole of the ark community is no small feat! It also indicates to me people really want the creature in game! Expect to see it return for an Extinction, Genesis 1/2 or heck, a The Center themed vote (if the theme suits it of course). Either or, I'm very happy with the results of the vote, Fasolasuchus is going to be an awesome addition! If you wish to repost this thread in future contests, please make sure you are properly crediting myself and ZCI5250. All the information you need is right here and should be relatively easy to copy/paste through. If you've reposted and want access to high quality versions of the dossier art and reference material please feel free to reach out on Twitter, same name as my account here. I can also give tips and such on how to put in multiple images and the like. I'd really like to avoid a Bastion Beetle situation happening with my concept, meaning having someone gut my concept entirely and try to pass it off as their own. If you have a separate idea for a Gigantoraptor, by all means, you are free to post it, but if you're thinking of reposting any of the concepts in the Top 10 for future votes, please be mindful of the original authors, and the time they spent creating art, interesting mechanics and the like for their creatures. Don't be plagiarising other people's art and ideas! It's really not cool. Gigantoraptor returns for another creature contest! With the promises of Dino/Baby management QOL in ASA, alongside the theme of the contest being Scorched Earth, this ultimate nanny of an oviraptor fits right in! In addition, Gigantoraptor was one of the many shelved concepts that Dave Melvin (the old dossier artist) shared quite some time ago, meaning that it was already planned to be added in some way or another into the main game! I am well aware that it's never promised that all of a creature's mechanics will get in. However, I've noticed that WC tends to keep the general vibe of the submitted creature when it comes to the game, in the form of at least one shared mechanic. In addition, I've done my best to try to balance the mechanics of the creature as much as possible. I'd be more than happy if the creature got in with most of its nanny themed abilities, in addition to its unique baby-based ability to turn the tide of battle! Enough talk though! Let's jump into the concept! Table of Contents 1. Artwork 2. Dossier Text 3. Potential Base Stats and Spawning 4. Taming - OSD Styled Nest Defence - Egg Steal 5. Abilities and Controls - Controls - Abilities - Gigantoraptor's Imprinting - Saddle 6. Supplementary Links Artwork MASSIVE THANK YOU to ZCI5250 for creating a fully fledged dossier for Gigantoraptor! ZCI is an incredible artist and an even more incredible friend, and I'm beyond happy to see how much the community is enjoying my submission in this contest! Hopefully we get to see Gigantoraptor come to ASA! I'll be putting my original concept art in the Supplementary Links. My concept is still near and dear to my heart, so it'll still be on this post, as it's what got me to where I am as an artist today, and sparked my passion for ARK modding and creature design! THIS IS MEANT TO BE A CREATURE A LITTLE BIGGER THAN ALLOSAURUS. I realise the dossier's human-to-scale has confused a few folks thinking the thing is gonna be absolutely massive, it's not intended to be that big! Just Allosaurus height at the shoulder, maybe a little shorter than a Rex with the neck Gigantoraptor would join the Yutyrannus, being a fully feathered medium-large theropod! It would also have dramatic sexual dimorphism, males sporting huge display feathers on their shoulders and elaborate patterns on their tail fans. This would make it really stand out among the other theropods in the game, bringing something new to a group of dinosaurs usually shown as mostly scaly, combat oriented creatures in ARK. Yes, this creature has combat prowess, but it's far from your usual bruiser/chomper you're used to seeing in ARK, it's a fully fledged battle "bird"! With the graphical and technical upgrades we could expect from ASA in UE5, a large, fully feathered creature like Gigantoraptor would look incredible! I'd love to see how detailed and dynamic feathering would look with improved textures. Could you imagine seeing the weight of its big coat of feathers as this giant stomps around? Interestingly enough, there actually aren't any other dinosaurs (I mean the grouping, not creatures in general) in the game that would share the "omnivore" diet with Gigantoraptor! So I guess it's kinda unique in what it eats too! Its colour palette is based off of the Forest Red Tailed Black Cockatoo! This Australian species of cockatoo is found nowhere else, and let's be honest with ourselves, Scorched Earth is really just ARK: Australia Evolved. What would fit better on that map than a giant cassowary/cockatoo oviraptor? Dossier Text Common Name : Gigantoraptor Species : Gigantoraptor regalimaia Time : Late Cretaceous Diet : Omnivore Temperament : Loyal Wild Gigantoraptor is quite the peculiar theropod. With formidable claws and strong kicking legs, this Allosaurus sized theropod almost appears like an apex predator. However, in most cases, this doting parent is never seen far from its mate and clutch of eggs. Their bond seems to run far deeper than any other species I’ve observed, as whenever they perceive their brood to be in danger, it manifests into a rush of adrenaline colloquially dubbed “Mother’s Fury”. This allows them to grapple with threats far larger than other animals their size! I guess there’s nothing more powerful than a mother’s love! Domesticated Short of the incredibly dangerous task of stealing an egg from the nest, it seems the best way to gain the trust of these parents is to lend a hand! Nesting individuals tend to get quite hungry, spending so much energy protecting their brood, so will happily accept food from humans. However, predators will take their chance to steal an egg while they eat. One must defend the nest from these pesky foes, but once these are dispelled, your efforts will be rewarded! Both parents will happily follow you home, trusting someone who cares just as much about their young. Gigantoraptor make for the perfect nursery aid, as their naturally protective nature extends to any egg or newborn, even of vastly different species! I’ve even noticed them playing with all manner of babies, imprinting them with the scent of their owners! Some tribes go so far as utilising teams of Procoptodon to carry babies into the battlefield to power up their Gigantoraptors, activating a “Mother’s Fury” to turn the tide of battle! Potential Base Stats and Spawning Health: 750 Stamina: 275 Oxygen: 150 Food: 3000 Weight: 380 Melee Damage: See "Abilities and Controls" section for base damage values Torpidity: 950 Gigantoraptor would always spawn in mate boosted pairs, with both individuals being the same level. One member of the pair would randomly be assigned to sit on top of a nest structure, while the other moves freely about nearby. I personally think that they'd fit best into the oases and valleys of Scorched Earth, but I could see them also being found in the forests around the bases of the mountains. This vote may be Scorched Earth themed, but Gigantoraptor's thick coat of feathers would help them stay insulated from the temperatures of a variety of environments, meaning they could potentially be found on other maps. This would be up to WildCard's discretion though, and colour palettes/patterns may have to change depending on the map. Taming Gigantoraptor has two taming methods, each offering its own advantages and disadvantages: - Mostly conventional egg steal (boooring!) - OSD styled nest defence! OSD Style Nest Defence: This unique taming method would require you to offer a meal to the hungry parent sitting on the nest. This part of the taming method would function like a conventional passive tame. The foods that Gigantoraptor would accept, in order of preference, are Superior Kibble, Raw Mutton, Raw Prime Meat, Crops, etc etc., though I could see it requiring Exceptional kibble given its powerful abilities. Being a small survivor, you're able to approach the nest on foot, as the doting parents don't see you as a threat... however don't run right in! Rushing towards the nest might aggravate the parents, so calmly walk up to the nesting individual to avoid spooking them, and feed them to start the taming process. While you are passive taming the parent, pesky predators will start to appear. Small creatures like Oviraptors, Troodons and Dilos will frequently be appearing (spawning in) to try to break into the nest and steal the eggs inside. Similar to Megachelon taming, you'll have to dispatch of these predators before they get a chance to attack the nest! Rarely, comparatively larger predators like Raptors, Titanoboa or even Carnos may appear to try their luck! Thankfully, the mate of the seated Gigantoraptor will assist you in battling these creatures, becoming temporarily allied to you for a time much like Carchar taming! Dispatch of the thieves attacking the nest with new your bird-like friend to complete the taming! However, be careful not to let the seated Gigantoraptor take too much damage! The damage from these predators won't only ruin your taming effectiveness, but can cause the mother and father will turn on you. The distraction of food took their attention away from its nest for too long, and they don't take kindly to anything threatening their babies! The advantage of such a difficult taming method is that, after all is said and done, you'll be getting two tamed Gigantoraptor! Both individuals will become tamed to you after you successfully protect the seated Gigantoraptor, giving you instant access to a (hopefully) well statted breeding pair! The nest will be destroyed after successful taming in this way though, so you won't get the egg.* With the AI improvements coming to wild dinos in ASA, I feel like this style of taming will be both more enjoyable and more rewarding. It'll really feel like you're fighting alongside a wild beast to earn its trust! Egg Steal: Unlike most other egg steal tames, Gigantoraptor eggs are not found in the overworld. Instead, they must be directly looted from the nest structure, like looting a beaver dam. This will force the player to have to remain stationary and make stealing the egg much more risky! In addition, these angry parents will stop at nothing to see you dead, staying aggressive even after they've killed you! This unique egg mechanic is to prevent the egg from simply being taken after taming the parents OSD style. *For handwavy lore reasons, this nest is a bit of a shrodinger's nest. Why would such devoted parents leave behind their baby to follow this human? Obviously it's because there wasn't actually an egg in the nest yet, this couple only just got their roots down. At least that's how I'd explain this balancing in non-game-mechanic terms. As another option, it could make more sense if the mate pair awarded you with a single egg for your efforts, again this is up to WC's discretion. Abilities and Controls I've considered applications for both PvP and PvE play with the Gigantoraptor. While I have done my best to balance them for official play, please note these are only potential ideas, and the Gigantoraptor’s mechanics could always be balanced according to what WC sees fit. Firstly, it would join the Maewing and Procoptodon as a valuable nursery aid, functioning like a blend of an Air Conditioner and the S+ Nanny*, incubating eggs dropped near it, feeding babies too young to eat from troughs and helping to imprint on growing dinosaurs by completing cuddle interval requests. Of course, it would require the relevant food and imprinting comfort foods for these respective actions. For example, if a baby asked for Prime Meat Jerky as comfort food, it would require Prime Meat Jerky to successfully raise imprinting percent. In addition, both wild and tamed Gigantoraptor will receive a buff when near any fertile eggs and babies (any growth stage from baby - adolescent) of all species, Mother’s Fury. This buff will increase their damage resistance and damage output by 20%, and increase their speed by 10% and decrease their stamina usage by 10%. Not only will this help in the defence of nurseries from enemy factions trying to kill or steal babies, but it could also synergise with Procoptodons! By bringing baby creatures into the battlefield, the Gigantoraptor could gain an increase to their combat abilities as long as there are living babies nearby! In addition, with wild babies coming to ASA, you may not even have to bring a baby to the fight, they'll just be around and allow you to power up! The reason for this outlandish concept/synergy is to reward interesting strategy/play and to give some use for all those breedjects... alongside continuing the running gag of how baby creatures are treated in ARK. We stomp on them for XP, sacrifice them to things like Troodons and Carchars to tame them, and mass murder them when they don't get that stat mutation we wanted. Bringing them onto the battlefield as "ammunition" for a giant cassowary nanny's signature ability is the least of the horrors! *An important thing to note here is, S+ and other similar mods could take time to update to ASA. This would mean people potentially wouldn't have access to the structures for a bit of time. Having a creature that, if the abilities were to come in the final concept, fills those roles would be highly useful and may even suit some people's playstyles more! Everyone benefits from not having to sit there and fulfill cuddle timers, it's not a skill based thing, just a massive time sink. The balance just comes in the fact that you'd still need to provide it with potentially every cuddle food option for your creatures, alongside more balance options touched on in the "Gigantoraptor's Imprinting" section. In terms of controls: Left Click : A double claw swipe. Hits twice for 30 base damage each swing. While slow-ish, its big AOE makes it great for dealing with larger targets or small groups! This can harvest meat. Right Click : A powerful kick that deals heavy knockback. The lower the drag weight of the target is compared to the Gigantoraptor, the further it gets knocked back! 25 base damage. This attack can also be performed while jumping. For how the jumping kick could look, looking at how cassowaries kick things would be a good, but terrifying, reference! C : A simple peck attack, that hits much faster than the claw swipe and is better suited to dealing with singular targets. 35 base damage. Harvests berries Spacebar : Basic Jump X : Roar/Taunt, the Gigantoraptor will flare its tail feathers and give a shrill cry. Purely cosmetic. In terms of abilities: Tamed Gigantoraptor can be told to sit via the radial menu. When sitting down, a short animation of digging a nest plays, and once seated it functions like an air conditioner and incubates eggs. (with the existence of the egg incubator, I feel like this mechanic will be a little bit less needed, and isn't as important if it doesn't make the cut were Gigantoraptor to win) Seated Gigantoraptor are also able to imprint nearby dinos! See "Gigantoraptor's Imprinting" below for a more in depth look at the mechanics behind this game changing feature Gigantoraptor are the only creature attentive enough to notice when a Maewing is swooping in to steal babies! Babies nearby a Gigantoraptor will be completely immune to being stolen by Maewings, offering some counterplay to the kidnapping marsupial/monotreme/hybrid thing! This will function as an anti-theft AOE around the creature. I've been told that people don't generally use the Maewing's theft ability, but it always felt odd that something so powerful as stealing someone's breedline had no real counterplay other than "build a wall" (that could be broken down). Gigantoraptor's Imprinting: Balancing the imprinting is quite a tough one! As I mentioned above, imprinting isn't skill based, just time consuming. The point of the mechanic on Gigantoraptor is to just make it so that people don't have to be wasting time watching their pixel dinosaurs when they could do other things. Breeding is one of those necessary, but highly laborious and monotonous activities people will have to do in game. I don't think it's fun or fair that you have to be waking up every few hours to log on just to hit "E" on your growing baby because you want those extra stats. A vanilla balanced version of the S+ Nanny would save people so much time, especially for people on official who won't have access to crossplatform mods! However, automatic imprinting all the way to 100% would be very powerful, especially if you could fit a bunch of babies into the imprinting range. But, on the other hand, having the automatic imprint cap out at a certain percentage, even with lots of stat investment, nullifies the whole point of leaving one out there to do its job of imprinting if a player still needs to interact in some way (other than comfort food refuels). There's two options I can think of: Option 1: Imprinting would remain the same as the original concept. Gigantoraptor simply needs to be loaded up with comfort foods and the like, and will imprint all babies in its range to complete 100% imprint. Only limit is how many babies you can fit into its range of effect, and the amount of comfort food stored in its inventory (wants to cuddle/wants to walk would just be automatic). Option 2: Imprint quality could be capped by a "Imprinting Quality" stat, functioning either like Gacha's mutatable crafting skill, or Maewing's "tamed level up only" nursing range ability. This would mean that a growing baby would still require additional input from a player to achieve the 100% imprint, unless the Gigantoraptor in question had been sufficiently levelled up. I think the best course of action would be to have this be a tamed stat to level up, but to make it possible to reach 100% imprint by levelling up this stat. Maybe it requires 50 points pumped in, maybe all tamed levels, who knows. But having it have no way to fully imprint a creature makes it a lot less useful. In terms of a cap to the amount of babies that Gigantoraptor could imprint at the same time, perhaps this could scale with the Imprint Quality stat, or even the level of the animal? One Gigantoraptor would have a certain number of babies that could be assigned to it to be imprinted. This could be something like 5-10 at base, but higher level/higher pumped Gigantoraptor are able to imprint more babies at once, incentivising the taming and levelling up of strong "imprinter" Gigantoraptor. Hopefully these options provide enough of a framework for WC to make the decision on what would fit best in game, if the concept were to win in round 2! In terms of saddle: I wanted to avoid giving Gigantoraptor a baby carrying saddle like the Maewing to avoid overlapping niches too much, and encouraging synergistic play when using it in a combat setting. However, after some thought and feedback (editing a concept based on useful information? Preposterous!), I feel it would benefit the concept. Maewing won't be coming to ASA, according to the roadmap, until 2024, so one of the more useful breeding creatures would not be present for a very long time, so giving some baby carrying capacity to Gigantoraptor seems appropriate. The saddle would also make using the "Mother's Fury" buff a little easier, as well as making it harder to steal a baby from under its watch (regardless of the maewing anti-theft aoe). To make it not completely invalidate the Maewing though, it would only be able to hold one baby, and won't be stealing any children any time soon! This is, again, one of the many things in the submission that is up to WC's discretion. 25. Seismosaurus Common Name: Seismo Species name: Seismosaurus peregrinans or (Diplodocus peregrinans) Time: Jurrassic Temperament: Defensive Seismosaurus while being an Invalid genus in our time having been lumped into Diplodocus as its larger cousin suits this creature perfectly as it appears to shake the very earth it wanders over unusually adapted Hostile Environments unsuitable for other large Sauropods. Seismo can eat just about any plant matter even Thatch or Cactus if it comes to it, this versatility allows it to exist in the most hostile of environments. Unlike its counterpart Brontosaurus, Seismosaurus is much more adept at combat using its thick muscular neck, weight and whip tail to deal large amounts of damage very quickly its also a lot faster Albeit at the cost of the sheer Defensive bulk of Brontosaurus. Domesticated: Once domesticated Seismosaurus is a perfectly capital war mount, usually fitted with heavy armour as its unable to carry a platform, this extra mobility and padded armour allow it to function as a battering ram turning even the sturdiest of gates to splinters eventually. Seismo also has none militant uses, its strong mouth and Hardy teeth allow it to literally rip rocks from the ground nearly intact this grab can also be used to get Seismosaurus to lift smaller creatures up to higher platforms such as Clifftops and Cliff platforms for those who may be afraid of flight or in areas where flight may be difficult or even Impossible. Health: 1300 Stamina:260 Oxygen: 150 Food: 8000 Weight: 1000 Melee Damage: Tail slap- 70 (1.5x damage to Carni's) 105 Neck slam- 70-105 Bite- 24 - 36 Stomp (10-second cooldown) 110 - 155 Movement Speed: 100% Torpidity: 7000 Utility saddle: 72 (gives 0 armour) Warsaddle: 86 (normal saddle works like Trike has base armour of 20) Why Seismo?: Arks Diplo is tragic and deserves better but that being said Seismo is not Diplo its a sister species and grows far larger and longer than its smaller cousin which is why I had the idea to make it a strong and aggressively Orientated counterpart to the tankier and defensively orientated Bronto swapping the utility of a platform saddle for extra damage and a smidge of its smaller cousins mobility this being said i didn't want to make a pure PvP creature and wanted to give Seismo a couple of unique uses in PvE play as well mostly serving as a way to move dinos and people to where you want them or an extremely efficient but slow and costly gatherer of minerals
