  1. Introducing Abyssosaurus! All art by Riskybiscuits + Dossier by Me Fan art (Thanks!) By Drawolf By Noeark Attributes -Bioluminescence (Along the body, the eyes and the tips of the Esca like the anglerfish. It is a color reign, does not need to be recharged Base stats Health-2700--Stam-850--Food-5400--Weight-1100--Damage-65 Taming -Just as you’re about to be hypnotized by an Abyssosaurus, throw a sea flashbang to stun it. This gives you enough time to feed it some plankton and to run before it gets un-stunned and chases you down. Done enough times will tame yourself the king of the deep. Bioluminescence Plankton swarms -These spawn in the deep oceans. These swarms can be collected into a Water jar and it will give you an item called “Jar-o-plankton”. It acts like a food source but can be consumed over 50 times before being completely used up Unique drops -Abyssosaurus Head (A rare drop that has a 1 in 6 chance of dropping when you kill a Abyssosaurus, can be placed on a trophy wall mount or the deco boxes where it can be used as a wall light) Craftable/Obtainable items -Sea flashbang (Unlock at level 38. Can only be used underwater, made with 15 angler gel, 1 grenade and 10 crystals. Used for taming Abyssosaurus. Stuns any sea critter for 20 seconds) -Jar-o-plankton (Variant of the Water jar that’s obtained once plankton is trapped inside it, can also be held. Acts like a temporary light source when shaken and used for taming Abyssosaurus. Returns to normal water jar when all plankton are used/eaten) -Makeshift scuba tank (Unlock at level 19, Keeps oxygen from draining for 10 minutes before having to return to the surface. Takes 2 water skins, 60 hide and 200 fiber. Reduces aquatic creature aggro range by 20% (including Megs) and increase swim speed by 1.5x) Size Passive abilities -Weight reduction (When in water, all resources/items/structures have weight reduced by 65%) -Dissipated Light (When hypnotized by a nearby Abyssosaurus all surrounding light vanishes, only visible light that can be seen is from Abyssosaurus. Both wild and tamed Abyssosaurus have this) -Dense skin (In the deep sea, all damage is reduced by 50%, except explosives which are only reduced by 25%. But when in shallow waters or by the water's surface, damage is reduced by only 15% and explosive damage received is increased by 20%. Also makes it Cnidaria and Electrophorus stun proof no matter the depths) -Deep sea power (The deeper you’re in the ocean your damage is increased by 25%, stamina and health regen increased by 20%, food drain reduced by 15% and speed increased by 15%. But in shallow water or near water's surface, stamina use is increased by 10% and damage dealt is reduced by 15%) -Shark and Xiphactinus proof (Deals 45% more damage to any Megalodons and Xiphactinus, plus both go out of their way to avoid Abyssosaurus out of fear that they’ll become it’s next meal) -Gentle Breeze (Abyssosaurus is immune to any and all natural spawning whirlpool debuffs and will gain 25% movement speed when going past one/into one) -Plesio-Synergy (When Abyssosaurus is nearby any Plesiosaur's, they gain 15% damage, 25% movement and attack speed. Only affects tamed ones) Abilities and attacks -//- Head whip (Thrashes its head and neck around to damage and knock back anything nearby. Works on land and in water) -Hold //-Dragged down (Swims around in a circle creating a whirlpool dragging creatures into it and dealing decent damage. When the whirlpool ends anything that was in it gets slowed by 45% for 10 seconds, any friendly tames/survivors near the whirlpool gain 25% more movement speed. Only works in water.) -Hold // on land -Hallucinogenic water shot (Uses 15 rare flowers and 5 rare mushrooms from the inventory and shoots a water stream from it's mouth and creates a puddle, makes whatever walks or gets hit by the water aggressive to everything and everyone, but when near Abyss they run away and avoid hurting it when possible. Puddle lasts 10 seconds) -//-MY EYES! (Consumes 5 angler gel to brighten its bioluminescence to temporarily blind anything around for 45 seconds that removes 75% of water fog. Also scares off Reapers and Nameless.) -Hold//-Hypno (Enter hypnosis mode. Anything in front of Abyssosaurus will go towards it and when close will become completely docile even when attacked. They won’t flee or fight back for 25 seconds or until killed. Affects tamed or wild land, sea and flying creatures within range) -Press C/-Lights out (Abyssosaurus will turn its bioluminescence off becoming completely invisible in the darkness of the depths, perfect for hiding in plain sight or ambushing your next target. Any close tames/survivors also get this buff and lasts until they attack/get attacked. Only works in water) -Spacebar//-Sonar (Sonar lets you scan for any alpha creatures or max level wild creatures in the sea and nearby land creatures) Land and space capabilities -While it prefers the deep-sea, Abyssosaurus is capable of surviving on land and in space with the saddle. It coats Abyssosaurus in a protective shield to keep its body from destroying itself. For space travel the saddle has folding thrusters above the front fins -It will no go onto land without you riding it. When on land attack is decreased by 35%, movement speed is close to a Stegosaurus and damage resistance is reduced by 40%. When in space it doesn't gain these debuffs. Saddle and saddle abilities (Unlock at level 69. Cost: 300 hide, 125 Cementing Paste/Achatina Paste, 360 Fiber, 400 crystal, 50 element and 235 metal ingot/scrap ingot. Made in the fabricator.) -Air dome (The dome is made out of prototype phase ray shield that lets players enter and keeps oxygen from draining when riding. You can't walk in the saddle but you can walk on top if it. If dismounting on the surface you’ll be on top of Abyssosaurus in front of the saddle, when dismounting under water you’ll be in front of the saddle swimming) Some special mentions that deserve some love Brontoscorpio. The space scorpion would be cool to encounter in space. https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/773050-brontoscorpio-vexator-venomous-disruptor/ Also check out Pebanista. Its a very interesting creature that deserves recognition. Guy that created it is a very good story teller as well. https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/772969-pebanista-the-sound-blasting-dolphin/#comment-3702318 Shringasaurus is a unique creature too. Its a support more then anything, but more of those never hurt anyone. https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/773012-roots-of-rage-–-shringasaurus Anybody order a toxic Snail? No? Well check out Spinyplatyceras anyway https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/773008-spinyplatyceras-the-toxic-snail
  2. (The art and dossier above was done by Sav!) (WILDCARD AND GARUGA…. KEEP THE PATTERN AND COLOR SCHEME PLEASE!!! THANKS - XOXO KATANA THE NAUTILUS) Introducing the Palaeoctopus! You may recognize him from Aberration, as I also submitted that version! This large (Megatherium sized) land cephalopod is found in the bog, and rarely the ocean of Genesis. A curious and crafty creature, the unique properties of its ink allow it to make special potions that aid you in all 5 of the genesis biomes, against the elements or any foe! For example, do you want to get rid of a horde of dire wolves? Throw down a Space Brew potion and make a mini black hole to trap them in one place! Or do you need to go down to the depths of the ocean but your scuba gear is broken? Simply drink an Ocean Potion and you’ll be able to dive deeper and see clearer! (And stay to the very end for some other cool submissions you should check out!!!) Ability and actions summary: (The ability concept sheet was done by DjayMasi!) Mobile Apothecary: The main feature of Palaeoctopus, it has 11 total potion options, 5 that benefit you and your allies, 5 that are for offense against enemies and 1 special brew! Respectively named the beneficial and volatile branches, each of the 5 potions on either side correspond with a genesis biome. Mimicry: Palaeoctopus are able to camouflage with their surroundings, this reduces your speed by 20% but makes you invisible to aggressive creatures and other things like turrets (For turrets this only works up to 2 foundations away and TEK ones are exempt). If you are attacked when camouflaged however, you will become vulnerable and take 10% more damage while still moving slowly. Coating: Using the same ink that is used for potions, it can coat itself to give its attacks affixes that relate to the biome specific ink. Volcano ink will make its attacks do fire damage, similar to if a fire wyvern were to attack you with its breath, for example. Moreover, these coatings add special attacks and features as well. Creature holding: With 8 strong arms and plenty of suction cups, it's no surprise that Palaeoctopus is able to grab and hold creatures similar to, say, Megalosaurus. This can be used to transport allies (and throw em) or suffocate your enemies by draining their oxygen, eventually killing them, or slamming them. Climbing: Again, 8 strong arms with suction cups make it possible for Palaeoctopus to climb steep surfaces, even being able to hang upside down. This is useful for sneaking around when camouflaged or getting up those ocean pillars. (Still not as useful as a bloodstalkers sheer maneuverability but it gets the job done) Potion making in-depth: Potion brewing is done with a unique saddle, the “brew-master” with the process being like this: 1: Let it produce ink passively, the properties of this ink change depending on what biome you are in. - Note: (Palaeoctopus must first acclimate to biomes before producing the special ink, having it mimic the surroundings and wander around will speed up the acclimation process, for reference if you were to mimic the environment 5 times, you would nearly be at 80% acclimation! A quick process. If a baby Palaeoctopus grows up in a biome however, it will automatically be able to produce ink related to that region. You can also use items like ambergris and shell fragments on it in order to acclimate instantly if on a different map or find similar biomes on other maps, a swamp acts as a replacement for bog acclimation for example) 2: Jars are used to bottle the potions, so place them in its inventory. 3: Choose to craft either a beneficial potion or a volatile one, having a different section for either. And that's it! Players or Palaeoctopus itself can throw the potions. As for potion details: Beneficial branch: (These can also be used on creatures!) - Bog brew: This potion will make it so insect swarms will no longer target you, you will also be more hidden from creatures overall, reducing their aggro towards you. - Volcano brew: This potion gives you heat resistance and also fire attack resistance from creatures such as Magmasaurs or weapons like torches. - Ocean brew: This potion increases your swim speed and reduces oxygen consumption. You are also able to see clearer underwater. - Snow brew: This potion gives you cold resistance and immunity to being stunned. - Space brew: This potion allows you to jump higher and have resistance to radiation. Volatile branch: - Brew of Continuous Defecation (bog): Throwing this potion at enemies drains their stamina, increases their torpor and makes them defecate. - Brew of Raging Inferno (volcano): Throwing this potion causes a patch of fire to form where it is thrown, any creature or player that steps into this fire is set on fire. And anything that is near the creature/player on fire will also be set on fire (including fire immune creatures such as fire Wyverns for example). - Brew of Abyssal Rage (ocean): Throwing this potion at enemies blinds them and causes them to attack anything around them, including their allies (both tamed and wild). - Brew of Eternal Frost (snow): Throwing this potion at enemies freezes them in place to stun them momentarily, if a player is hit then they will instantly be freezing to death. - Brew of Cosmic Bending (space): Throwing this potion causes a small black hole to form, dragging in anything caught within its radius for 10 seconds (which makes them unable to move or jump, stuck in the same position). Special: - Witches brew: By acclimating in all 5 biomes, this potion can be made. It gives a 5% buff to your crafting speed, EXP gain and movement speed. You may feel a bit trippy afterwards however….. (Also unlocks a bowler hat cosmetic, this cephalopod is truly breaking bad). Coatings: Coatings work similarly to the potions, your cephalopod friend must first become acclimated to the different biomes in order to use them. Once you have enough specialized ink, you can use the coatings in relation to the ink it is from. (again the acclimation can be done in the Genesis biomes or similar biomes from other maps such as swamps replacing bog acclimation or deserts replacing volcano acclimation!) Bog coating: Causes your attacks to ignore some armor and also break down armor durability faster! Can release a toxic cloud that inflicts torpor and drains stamina as well! Volcano coating: Your attacks will do fire damage over time, similar to a fire wyverns breath! This also unlocks a special attack allowing you to spew a ranged fire attack from the siphon! Ocean coating: A defensive coating, if any enemy attacks you physically they will receive electrical recoil! (which is just recoil but with fancy electricity effects). Additionally, when an enemy hits you too many times it will stun/paralyze them for 10 seconds! Snow coating: Your attacks will do ice element damage over time, like a managarmr of sorts! This also adds an ice armor around the octopus that increases health regeneration! Space coating: A unique defensive coating, you will be able to flashbang enemies to stun them for a small amount of time, this also afflicts some radiation on them. Another effect is that you and the Palaeoctopus have greater resistance to radiation. After using any of these coatings, you are locked into them for 10 minutes, 6 minutes for active usage and 4 minutes for a cooldown period. Moveset: Primary attack (LMB, RT, R2): Punch (Base 30 dmg) Secondary attack (RMB, LT, L2): Grab and hold creature (If you press the primary attack button/key it’ll start slamming the creature for base 40 dmg. If you hold RMB/LT/L2 it’ll start suffocating the creature, and if you simply let go of the button it’ll throw the creature or player.) Third attack/ability (C, R, R): Apply coating or throw potion (Holding Space,A,X will let you choose which action to do). Once the coating is applied, this button will convert into usage of the specialized attack or ability the coating has (fire spew, ice armor, etc). Climbing (Space, A, X): When near steep or vertical terrain, it will start climbing. (This consumes stamina of course) Taunt (Left ctrl, LB, LT): This is just aesthetic, similar to an aesthetic roar. (Ragebaiting) Taming method and behavior: Palaeoctopus are naturally curious creatures, and in the wild they are able to camouflage. So, if you are in the bog and suddenly grabbed, don’t be alarmed, it's simply curious and will let go (eventually). If you don’t have time for that however, hitting it with a torch will make it skedaddle. However, if you have narcotics, stimulants, medical brews or bug repellent on hand, it’ll initiate the taming process. Simply, you just have to place them in your hotbar and show them off, more complex recipes will give higher taming. You can also show it dishes like broth of enlightenment, which effectively act as a kibble (with enlightenment giving the most taming). Just simply keep showing your drug collection and it'll be impressed enough to be your new cephalopod friend! End (And credits/shoutouts/fanart): And that’s all, I hope the concepts and ideas I have outlined have interested you enough to toss a vote! Thanks for reading the submission! Big thanks to ZCI5250, Sav, DjayMasi, RRG, Ashgcy, SappyDaisy, and Hatcheri for providing either feedback or art for this fella! I couldn’t have made this concept as good without their help! 3. Atopodentatus (Pronunciation: AT-OH-POH-DEN-TAT-US) (Art by Riskybiscuits, Mihael, Lapis Lazuli, and Ham & Co.) If you want to support Atopo, please vote for it in the Creature Vote, see the Community Crunch for details. First discovered in 2014, Atopodentatus dates back to the Early to Mid Triassic period. It shared the waves with animals like Ichthyosaurus, Shastasaurus, Coelacanth, Ammonite, Nothosaurus, and more. Meanwhile, on land, it was well-adapted to contend with a variety of early theropods, sauropods, and pterosaurs. Attacks & Abilities Tail Whip - Normal Attack - can contend with Megs, Xiphs, Mantas, etc, with directional knockback based on where the camera is facing enemies. When tamed, this attack can be used like a whip against allied tames. (L Click / RT / R2 Attack) Hammerhead Charge - Charged Attack - consumes a chunk of stamina to charge forward and stun targets on hit. Longer hold time = faster charge, longer distance, longer stun, allowing you to zip and zoom around the oceans at high speed. (Hold L Click / RT / R2 Attack) Burst Strafe - Dodge - Consumes a smaller chunk of stamina to surge to your left or right, allowing for excellent side-to-side dodging capabilities. (Tap L/R Ctrl / LB/RB / L1/R1) Biome Sanctuary AoE - Special Ability (R Click / LT / L2 Ability) Biome Sanctuary causes Atopo to consume Food in exchange for regeneration and removing debuffs on creatures inside the AoE. If all debuffs are successfully cleansed from a creature, the regen becomes more rapid, and that creature receives the Hydrated Buff until a new debuff is sustained. On Land - Atopo's AoE functions a percentage of foodnis consumed to create a ranged AoE splash projectile, which lingers over the area where it lands. Hold to charge ability, to increase radius and potency, consuming up to 75% of Atopo's total food bar. Underwater - Atopo gradually consumes food over time, causing the AoE to diffuse into the water to create a pulsating bioluminescent AOE centered on the Atopo (more like Daeodon since many projectiles don't work very well underwater) Atopo's Biome Sanctuary ability is actually based on a little science. The goo Atopo produces comes from salt glands in its nostrils (something based in marine iguanas), which extract the excess salt from the plants it eats. The salty nature of the goo makes it very versatile for addressing a wide array of problems. In real life, salt can smother flames, melt ice, and is non-conductive, allowing it to stop the flow of electricity. Meanwhile, even a small amount of salt can kill leeches as well as bacteria with ease, and help clean and sanitize wounds. In some cases, saline fluids are even used to gently flush the eyes and nose of irritants. (Fan-made image by WolfTek7) Passive Abilities Aquatic Affinity - Atopo is immune to Cnidaria, and Electrophorus stuns. Saline Shroud - Atopo passively produces Saline Goo in its inventory. This goo, by itself, can be used like Preserving Salt to extend the spoil timer on perishable items. However, it can be fed to unconscious creatures to temporarily conceal them from wild predators. Behavior Wild Atopo can be found across the entire Genesis Simulation, from the volatile volcano and murky swamp to the crushing depths of the ocean and the freezing void of space. However, they prefer to avoid prolonged conflicts; if attacked, they will give their attacker a solid tail slap and flee. (Possible bioluminescent X Variant for Ocean & Tek Variant for Lunar Biome) Taming I PROTECT, YOU ATTACK, MOST IMPORT- MUST EAT A SNACK. To tame Atopo, place any of its taming foods in the taming slot of the hotbar and feed them. Atopo will perform a sniff animation to indicate you have the correct type of food on your hotbar. Once fed, the atopo will sleep until hungry again. During this time, players must prevent disruptions. When they wake up, they will crave a certain flavor of food. Players will have a short time to fulfill their craving. Done successfully, Atopo gains a large amount of taming progress, rinse & repeat. If the Atopo goes unsatisfied, it will find the nearest plant node (bush, kelp, cactus, etc) and begin to eat it, which may disrupt the inhabitants thereof. Ensuring the Atopo remains unharmed earns taming progress. After sating their hunger, the Atopo will once again fall asleep. Rinse & Repeat. Failing to satisfy the Atopo does not lower the taming effectiveness; it's just a riskier process. This provides less advanced players a different avenue to progress the tame, should they not have everything on hand. Feeding Atopo the completely wrong food, like meat, or damaging it will lower taming effectiveness. Sleeping between feeds is mainly to make Atopo easier to tame, so players won't need to chase it around or worry it will mindlessly stumble into danger while taming. Unlike Moscops or Rhynio, Atopodentatus don't crave specific foods but rather anything from a given category; the image below provides some examples. Saddles & Movement Regular saddle - Craftable at the Smithy @ lvl 45 for hide, fiber, and cementing paste. Allows riders to use weapons while mounted, seats 1 extra passenger, and features a built-in Mortar & Pestle (there are no Ocean dino saddles with built-in crafting stations). Tek Saddle - This saddle could potentially drop from boss fights like Moeder or the Corrupted Master Controller and could feature a Shield Bubble mode. Bubble Mode - creates an AoE Shield Bubble spacious enough for players and tames centered on the Atopo, keeps out wild dinos, protects from projectiles, and negative weather effects. However, this effect would be stationary amd consume elememt to remain powered. Rudimentary weapons and creature attacks can damage the bubble as they would normally any structure, yet Tek Weapons do increased damage. On the ocean floor, the bubble can be optionally drained, similar to tek vacuum compartments (provided no water tames are present). Allowing players and land tames to walk around on the seafloor like it was dry land, allowing players to build, battle, and traverse the oceans like never before. Atopo would also feature a nice range of movement options to help survivors traverse the entirety of the Genesis Simulation: ✅️✅️ Effective traversal for land and water. ✅️✅️✅️ Climb cliffs, walls, and anchor itself to submerged aquatic terrain features. ✅️✅️✅️ Extremely sharp, fast turns both on land and underwater. ✅️ Able to jump dodge via Burst Strafe. ✅️✅️✅️ Sprinting from land to water causes Atopo to run across the water surface. Why Vote for Atopo? Atopo aims to be more than just an ocean lizard; it aspires to be a unique creature for all survivors and biomes in Genesis Simulation. It has been carefully crafted to offer something distinctive to survivors during every step of their journey on Genesis Part 1. Whether you are scaling bog trees and ocean cliffs, rescuing a dying friend, conquering Moeder, or fending off more dangerous foes. Atopo always has your back! Just remember to pack some snacks! 😉 Thank you for reading! If you made it to the end of this, thank you! 4. Wild To describe Cameroceras, imagine a squid bearing a massive horn for a shell. Unlike those of our world, those of the ark have metallic shells that are reinforced with layered organic polymers. Within this shell, chambers can be filled with water or pressurized air to maintain their buoyancy in the water. Normally, one can encounter this creature peacefully cruising the shallower seas of the simulation, slowly descending to the seafloor. During this process, it expels precious air bubbles that survivors can use to recoup during underwater excursions. Be wary of those who reach the seafloor, for this is when their true nature shows itself. They scuttle the seafloor in search of prey, and then explosively expel the water from their chambers to impale prey from below. This attack can cripple all but the largest ocean inhabitants. Domesticated Most view the creature as too temperamental to tame, but those who spare their oxygen for the beast instead of stealing its air can win its favor. Once tamed, the chambers it bears within its shell can be invaluable for undersea tribes during long excursions. For more violent tribes who acquire them, not only does the impale do more damage to larger targets, but it can also pierce through the armor of any saddle. Update: Shell Coating The camero can use its powerful beak to digest specific ores to grow a new coating over its shell. Each coating offers unique abilities for both the shell and its bubbles. Silica Pearls The base material allowing the shell to provide oxygen to its rider and bubbles Feed Silica to reset abilities Black Pearls Shell and bubbles now have melee and projectile damage reflection or reduction? Obsidian Negates heat and lava damage for both the creature and rider. Bubbles burn enemy targets on contact Element Ore Drastically increases the air/water storage pressure of the shell to allow use of the lunge attack on land. Bubble Blower When killed, the animal provides large amounts of chitin, organic polymer, and shell fragments, or you can slaughter the creature to harvest the shell itself before harvesting to create a placeable bubble blowing structure, “think bee hive/Drum”, and still provides the coating effects when blown into during a minigame *However, the bubbles made by this structure have significantly less volume as not to invalidate the creature
  5. In real life, Sphooceras is a primitive type of cephalopod, from the Orthocera group. The young had different shells from the adults, causing them to change as they grew, which gave me the idea of producing chitin in Ark. Of course, the size and design are exaggerated, and the idea of the female and male being different is made up. IN GAME: They are found throughout the depth of the ocean biome. TAMING METHOD: To tame one, you will need to knock it down, but to do it, you will need to get two Sphooceras to spray ink at each other. To do this, you will need to approach a pair, attack one of them, and as soon as one sprays ink at the other, the second will become angry and spray ink as well. After knocking it down, just feed it meat or its favorite food, Ammonite Bile. ABILITIES/USE: This creature comes in two versions: the FEMALE, which is much larger, and the MALE, which is smaller. Both have different abilities, but they will have one ability in common: the ink jet. This jet can increase creatures torpor from a distance, and if Sphooceras has an element in its inventory, this jet can neutralize tek armor, deal more damage to tek creatures or tek structures, and damage the enemy's electric generator. They also produce chitin naturally, but this production is increased during the growth process. They also produced a new item, Poison Ink, which will serve as a substitute for narcoberries. Poison Ink. MALE: The male can be used in two ways: The first way is as extra armor, it will stay on your back, which will cause it to take all damage (reduced) caused in that area, and will also give you more resistance in other areas. You can also hold it with your hands, which will allow you to use its ink jet as a weapon. Both forms can be used if you are riding a creature. FEMALE: The female can be ridden, and she can use the ink jet in two ways: the normal way already explained, and also as a temporary boost, making her faster. She can swim in water, move slowly on land, and also fly in cyderal space. The boost can be used in water and space. She won't need a saddle to be ridden. Both will have special equipment, the Air Respirator, which will be placed where a saddle would normally be placed. This equipment will provide 25% extra resistance, as well as allowing them to breathe outside of water, and can be used in other locations. Air Respirator. ATTRIBUTES: Health: 950 (FEMALE). 300 (MALE) Stamina: 400 (BOTH) Oxygen: Infinity (BOTH) Food: 1800 (BOTH) Weight: 350 (FEMALE). 95 (MALE) Melee Damage: 40 (FEMALE). 15 (MALE) Movement Speed: 100% (BOTH) Torpicity: 1000 (BOTH) FEMALE ABILITIES: Left click: Tentacle attack (normal attack) Right click: Ink jet D : Water and space boost Space bar: Fly (in space) MALE ABILITY: Hold E: This will make him go from one instance to another.
  6. Hello survivors, adventurers, and explorers of Ark Survival Ascended! Today I bring to you a creature born in prehistory, yet also from the imagination. Something that blends forgotten fossils, science, fiction, and the wild spirit of Ark. Get ready to meet… the Opabinia Regalis “Symbiotica” ! ““Helena would say: it is not just an observer… it is living perception itself.” Common Name: Opabinia Regalis “Symbiotica” Classification: Alien Parasite / Symbiont (fictional reinterpretation of the fossil Opabinia Regalis) Location (in-game): Deep Lunar Caves — Genesis Part 1 Initial State: Hibernation (attached to ceilings/walls) Have you ever heard of the Opabinia ? It is an extinct arthropod, from the stem group, that lived during the Middle Cambrian (505 million years ago) in British Columbia. It was a peculiar fossil, with five eyes and a trunk, and its segmented body had flaps along the sides and a fan-shaped tail. Opabinia Symbiotica is an enlarged reinterpretation of the Opabinia fossil, redesigned as a symbiotic organism that can attach to a survivor, granting unique sensory abilities and tactical defense, at the cost of severe risks during domestication and the maintenance of the symbiosis. Basic morphological information from the real fossil served as the foundation for the design. My inspiration came from the Blue Beetle, the hero who uses a symbiotic alien beetle to unlock incredible powers, and it was precisely this idea that I wanted to bring into Ark. Its main objective is to enrich and deepen the exploration and survival experience, and since GEN1 is a deadly map, a little extra help is more than welcome. Opabinia aims to address and meet specific player quality-of-life needs, contributing something fun and enjoyable to use, capable of exciting the player base and bringing a breath of relief to the survival experience. Opabinia will feature unprecedented mechanics and a unique experience for survivors, unlike anything any other creature can provide. All of this comes with an equally unique design. What makes the Opabinia unique? It is not just another rideable creature or merely another shoulder ally without purpose. It acts as a symbiotic companion. It attaches to the player, and together you share incredible abilities: Passive Abilities (when tamed / in symbiosis) Alien Radar (passive/active): detects hidden/buried beings (Reapers, Shadowmanes, etc.) and buffs/debuffs creatures. Similar to DireWolf’s smell and Parasaur’s radar. (Activatable by command) Underwater Vision (passive): an organic version of the “Scuba Mask”, improving visibility in murky waters and abysses. Bio-Primordial Vision (passive/active): an organic version of the “Magnifying Glass”, allowing you to check creature status (health/torpor) and a list of possible harvestable nodes. (Activatable by command) Radiation Immunity (passive): due to its survival and adaptation to lunar caves, it shares this immunity with the host. Hybrid Respiration: reduces the host’s oxygen consumption, sharing its own oxygen (underwater exploration). Similar to Diplocaulus. Trunk (Active / Tactical Abilities) Organic Whip (primary attack): an organic version of the “whip,” but with a very short reach; does not deal impact damage, but has a chance to stun small/medium creatures; against players, it can temporarily disarm them (knocks down weapon). Mount Protection (passive/active): coils around the host’s mount saddle/gear and prevents forced dismounts (making the host immune to Microraptor, Purlovia, Kaprosuchus, etc.). About this, I’ll explain: you have to activate it while mounted. If you are dismounted, the ability deactivates. I suggest a cooldown to reactivate. Aggressive Dismount (PvP): recalling that Opabinia has organic “whip” abilities, in aggressive mode the trunk lashes out like a whip and can pull players off their mounts (short-range offensive countermeasure). For balancing, you would need a toggle: aggressive mode disables mount protection mode. Physical Description The Opabinia is an arthropod-like creature with an alien appearance. its elongated, segmented body is protected by an iridescent carapace that shimmers with hues of blue and gold under the light. Its body emits a natural bioluminescence, pulsing in shades of blue, green, and amber, especially around its eyes (reminiscent of a mantis shrimp’s glow beneath the ocean light). The creature’s five spherical eyes are arranged asymmetrically, each capable of moving and focusing independently, granting it total environmental awareness. When tamed, the Opabinia adopts a unique symbiotic posture over its survivor host: Its main body rests gently on the survivor’s back, adhering smoothly to armor or skin. Its long proboscis coils loosely around the neck, resting across the shoulder like a living, organic scarf. The central eyes remain positioned behind the head and shoulder, providing the host with a 360° field of vision and early threat detection. Small lateral fins vibrate softly, and the creature’s bioluminescence pulses in rhythm, resembling a living necklace of energy. Habitat and Behavior Occurrence: lunar caves, always in hibernation on ceilings, walls, or crevices. Passive Behavior: hibernates for long periods; barely detectable until disturbed. When Awakened/Provoked: seeks to attach to the first available host; once attached, it initiates neural parasitism, making taming far more risky. (This mechanic is designed to increase tension and maintain thematic coherence.) Taming Process — Neural Alignment (Step by Step) Provocation / Awakening: To wake Opabinia from its hibernation, the Survivor/Explorer must FORCE AGGRO on Opabinia using a Rare Flower/Pheromone Dart. But beware, this attracts area predators, making the process even riskier. Parasitic Attachment: When provoked, it attacks aggressively, attaching to the player and applying DRAINS/DEBUFFS (health ↓, stamina ↓, hunger ↑, thirst ↑, slowness) and distorted vision (as if hit by a flash grenade). The player must deal with external attacks while suffering internal debuffs. Silencing: The player must use Biotoxin (specific item) to temporarily silence Opabinia, the only way to stop the attack and open the window for domestication. Mini-game — Neural Alignment: audiovisual synchronization sequence (Simon Says style): each correct input strengthens the symbiotic connection (similar to Baby Gigantoraptor). SUCCESS: bond established → Opabinia becomes a shoulder pet with passive abilities and skills, showing that the creature that once consumed you now bows to its host. FAILURE: player death, a point of no return if there are multiple errors. ; Opabinia returns to hibernation. Note: This mechanic combines high risk with high reward, emphasizing the sci-fi theme of Genesis. Balancing / Counters (PvP) Light Bomb / Luminescent Grenade: tactical item that, upon exploding, blinds/stuns Opabinia for a few seconds, interrupting attachment/whip/attacks. Prolonged Hunger of the Tame: keeping Opabinia without food increases instability, also serving as a way to balance PvP abuse. Maintenance comes at a cost: well-fed, it is a sentinel; hungry, it becomes a parasite. Mechanic similar to BloodStalker. Design Notes: cooldowns and range restrictions on dismount abilities are recommended to prevent abuse and preserve balanced gameplay.(!!) On a rich and dangerous map like Genesis Part 1, with volcanic, swamp, oceanic areas, and lunar rocks... Opabinia Symbiotica is not only thematically perfect. It is memorable. The all-seeing eyes, a whip-trunk, and extreme survival, all packed into a small, portable, stylish creature. It is the creature that will make you think twice before entering a dark cave… and could be your greatest weapon, or your death sentence. If you also want to see this symbiotic marvel come to life in Ark… Vote for Opabinia Symbiotica!
  7. From islands floating in calm oceans to cold regions with raging blizzards, Fukuivenators live in numerous biomes within the simulation. This basal Therizinosaur uses a variety of feathers to confuse its prey and bravely confront even powerful opponents. If you encounter a Fukuivenator, quickly make way so as not to incur its wrath; else be torn to pieces by its claws! Common Name:Fukuivenator Species:Fukuivenator Plumaecoloratae Time:Early Cretaceous Diet:Omnivorous, preferring meat Temperament:Aggressive Wild Fukuivenators are found mainly in Bog, Arctic, and Ocean biomes. Like Yutyrannus, they are covered in feathers and are very fluffy! These feathers are highly hydrophobic, making them suited for underwater activities. They are the same stature as Therizinosaurs, but can move faster. Although still dangerous, Fukuivenators are not as aggressive as other carnivores. However, they can attack from a greater distance than Therizinosaurs, rendering them a more ranged threat. By equipping Ghillie Armor, you can approach them unnoticed, although touching their body will still alert them to your presence. They are often attacked by Rex, Spino, and Yutyrannus, but with their sharp claws and fangs, as well as the ability to nullify the roar of Yutyrannus and instead be buffed by it, they can put up a good fight. Additionally, Fukuivenator has feathers that have different effects depending on the environment it lives in: in bog biomes, it has toxic feathers that tire out its prey, in arctic biomes it has frost feathers that slow down its opponents' movements, and in ocean biomes it has salt-rich feathers that slow down the healing of its opponents' wounds. Using these multitude feathers to its advantage, it will bring its prey down. Taming A Fukuivenator can be tamed by knocking it unconscious. However, their heavy coat of feathers reduces the damage caused by bullets and explosives, and nullifies the effect of Tranq Arrows and Tranquilizer Darts. Clubs and boomerangs are effective, but attacking blindly and incurring their wrath is not recommended. The safest way to put them into a coma is to hand them Narcoberries, Ascerbic Mushrooms, or Spoiled Meat. However, they usually refuse to accept these items. First, give them regular Berries, Mushrooms, or Raw Meat. As long as they're eating the items you've given them, they will accept Narcoberries, Ascerbic Mushrooms, or Spoiled Meat. Repeating this process will put them into a coma. However, if you don't feed them the corresponding torpor-inducing item, (ex. Narcoberries if you've given them Berries) they'll notice something's wrong and start to become violent. Feeding them Narcotics and Biotoxin during this state will have the same effect. Additionally, by fighting them with a Metal Sword or Metal Sickle, you can shear their feathers and make them vulnerable to Tranq Arrows and Tranquilizer Darts for 60 seconds. Additionally, the wind pressure from a Rex or Yutyrannus' roar can negate the effects of their feathers for 40 seconds, and if you manage to damage their feathers during that time, their vulnerability to Tranq Ammo will increase to 120 seconds! While asleep, they will eat both Berries and Raw Meat, but prefer Raw Meat. Their favorite food is Exceptional Kibble. Tamed Base Stats Health: 890 Stamina: 320 Oxygen: 650 Food: 2700 Weight: 325 Melee Damage: 57 Fukuivenator can be mounted by attaching a saddle. While Therizinosaurs are suited for foraging, a Fukuivenator is more adept in combat. The feathers on their backs can grant some cold resistance to their riders; furthermore, although they require regular oxygen supplementation, they can also swim freely through the water! Left Click : Scratching Damage is higher than that of the Therizinosaur. All effects inflicted by the feathers last for 40 seconds, apart from bleeding and radiation. It can be used on grass to gather fiber, but not berries. Right Click : Charge Scratch Deals higher damage than left click and can bleed like the Allosaurus leader, but it cannot slow the enemy. All effects granted by the feathers last for 60 seconds, except for bleeding and radiation. Can be used every 10s. Space : Bite Can be used to collect Thatches, Hids, Berries, and Pelts. Additionally, this reduces the defense of the person you bite by 20%. This effect lasts for 30 seconds and cannot be overwritten. C : Roar Raises the morale of allies in the vicinity, and increases their damage and attack speed for 80 seconds. In addition, the ally will be able to nullify all status effects for 30 seconds. Can be used every 20s. X : Groom Grooming allows you to rapidly recover health for 20 seconds, similar to Argentavis. You will also receive feathers in your inventory, which can be used as a substitute for pelts, polymers, and fiber. Each feather you have will also grant different effects to your left-click and right-click attacks. These effects last for 120 seconds, and grooming can be used every 50s. Passive Like in the wild, Fukuivenator reduces the damage caused by bullets and explosives, as well nullifying the effects of Tranq Arrows and Tranquilizer Dart. Additionally, you can activate a state from the radial menu that allows you to reduce damage taken by having Hides, Pelts, or their Feathers in your inventory, consuming one per damage taken. Hides reduce damage by 10%, Pelts 20%, and Feathers 30%. Feathers are consumed first, and Hides are consumed last. This damage reduction applies to bullets and explosives, but not to poison or bleeding. Additionally, depending on the environment in which their feathers were harvested, the effects they can impart to left-click and right-click attacks vary. * Feathers harvested in bog biomes can inflict poison, draining stamina. * Feathers harvested in volcanic biomes can set enemies on fire and cause additional DoT. * Feathers harvested in arctic biomes slow down opponents with their cold. * Feathers harvested in ocean biomes are rich in salt, slowing wound healing and increasing the bleeding effect by 10 seconds. Left-click attacks can also inflict bleeding for 10 seconds, similar to right-click attacks. * Feathers harvested in lunar biomes can inflict radiation for an incredible 20 seconds with left-click attacks and 30 seconds with right-click attacks. You can select the effects you will inflict when grooming from the radial menu. While the duration of each effect cannot be extended, they can be stacked. Work together with your allies to inflict different effects and torment your opponents! Also, as in the wild, they will nullify a Yutyrannus’ roar and be granted the same effect as a roar from an ally Yutyrannus. On a Fukuivenator, you have nothing to fear.
