🔴 Onchopristis - The Sawfish that Skips on Water!
SneakySandfish posted a suggestion in Creature Submissions
It’s stupid fast and skips on water! (Modern day analogues of Onchopristis) Abilities (TL;DR) -Skips like a Stone! - Massive speed to skip across the water -Feeding Frenzy - Gains speed, damage, and bleed by chaining attacks -Invisibility - Cloaks like Rock Drake or Shadowmane -Bury - Buries like Reaper, Basilisk, Pulovia… but underwater -Sharks do not attack it - Living megalodon repellant -Multi Seat Saddle -Bring your buddies along! And yes it’s rideable ofc Abilities (In Depth) Skips like a Stone! When the Oncho reach max speed due to feeding frenzy status(see below), it gains the ability to jump out of the water and skip on its surface. This is the fastest form of transportation when using the Oncho. This ability will have a skilled based, timed mini-game. In order to land the next skip, you need to time when you next press the jump key. This gets harder with each successive skip. Furthermore, similar to the manta, the Oncho can jump out of the water and survive on land for a short time at the cost of health. Its saw can also damage stone structures and rafts. It can also harvest stone/metal nodes but not as effectively as the Dunkleosteus and has no weight reduction for them. Feeding Frenzy The more attacks it lands the faster it goes, with a limit. Similar to deinonychus, the more attacks it lands with its saw the more bleed damage it will incur. This bleed damage is likewise percentage based. This is balanced by the fact that Oncho is very squishy. The Oncho cannot get stunned at max speed but it can be stunned along the way. Once at max speed, Creatures and harvestables are moved/destroyed if they get in its path, similar to tek legs boost, Roll rat and Cerato. Invisibility The Oncho can get stunned but the invisibility will make that less likely. You can also outrun the stun creatures. Bury Purlovia of the sea, no parasaurs can scan it here. Good for hiding loot. It won’t get eaten if you leave it at the shore. It can also bury with your survivor on it. Sharks do not attack it This is a QOL feature as megalodons can get quite annoying when they start tracking you from across the map. The idea here is that the Oncho is related to sharks and is thus not targeted by them. Multi Seat Saddle What’s the point of a super cool tame if ya can’t bring your buddies? Similar to the Griffin, Rock Drake, Mana, Rhynio, etc. the Oncho can hold multiple people. I’m thinking at least 2 but more could also be neat. Sword Fight Taming! Consume Battle Tartare When your character is under the Battle Tartare effect, the Oncho will take this as a threat and challenge the player Grab a Sword and Shield A sword and shield are needed to for the mini-game taming process Block Use your shield to block the Oncho’s attacks as it circles around and darts at your character. The stronger your shield, the longer it will last. The more hits the Oncho lands on the player, the lower the effectiveness Attack Every so often the Oncho will be vulnerable to attack and this is your time to strike! Each successfully landed strike will give taming affinity. The higher the damage the sword/player, the higher the affinity gained Repeat This block/attack process will be repeated multiple times depending on the level of the Oncho Taming Complete! If you survive the Oncho’s onslaught, voila, you have yourself a sneaky speedy, skipping Oncho! Why Choose Onchopristis? Valguero has a large lake at it’s center that looks cool but can feel in the way at times. With the Oncho, the lake will be an opportunity rather than an obstacle. The idea is that you can zip across the lake, bury/cryo the Oncho and continue on your journey. ARK has a few water creatures, some of which are a decent speed but none that are particularly satisfying or unique to use movement wise. Think of what it's like to fly a Griffin compared to an argy. Argy’s are great for utility but the Griffin is far more engaging to traverse the map with. The Oncho seeks to fill a similar fun role for the water. Cygnus Falconeri -The Giant, Dancing, Fighting, Swan
ChrisBManos posted a suggestion in Creature Submissions
Cygnus Falconeri -The Giant, Dancing, Fighting, Swan Dossier: Common Name: Cygnus Species: Cygnus Falconeri Time: Middle Pleistocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: I've seen swans at the park before I found myself in the Ark, but when it comes to Cygnus Falconeri, it's a whole different story. Despite its beautiful appearance, this thing is a literal angry bird. Cygnus is very territorial around every living creature in it's environment, If an intimidating territorial display is not enough to convince the threat to retreat, a full-scale attack may follow, both in the land and water. Instead of resorting to biting however, this giant bird uses it's wings in the most unusual way. Believe it or not, Cygnus has developed a dance like-fighting style similar to capoeira, by using it's wings, Heck, I've seen this thing even being able to dodge the fastest predators in the Ark when they attack! I honestly don't understand how Cygnus Falconeri developed this kind trait, by mimicking other survivors? Sigh... as of right now, I don't have a scientific explanation for this. Domesticated: From what I've heard from other survivors, some people have managed to quietly feed this giant swan by wearing a ghillie suit, but then that's were things start become problematic. After a survivor feed it, the swan immediately did a 120 degree angle dodge and was now behind him, and when the survivor turned around to see, he barely lived to tell the tale. For anyone that manages to tame a Cygnus Falconeri, it's unqiue fighting style can become a pain in the butt for enemy tribes and small and medium sized wild creatures, especially with it's dodging becoming annoying. With very high stamina for traveling and being able to fight above water, they will be able to have a special mount for the land, sky, and sea. Behavior: Cygnus Falconeri is very territorial bird, they will stay nearby at a certain location. If you or any small predator and prey enter their area or get too close to it, Cygnus would then use it's dancing fighting style to attack any small livening thing that trespassed into it's territory. If any intruders try to make escape, Cygnus will then perform it's dodge to block anyone's way before continuing it's attack. Size: Similar to the Argentaivs. Habitat: Cygnus will primarily spawn at The Lake in Valguero. With there being a large body of water in the center of the map and with Cygnus being a giant swan, it makes the perfect environment for Cygnus Falconeri. Cygnus can also be found at the shorelines of the Boreal Forest, Tundra, and the White Cliffs. Abilities: Hack and Slash For it's basic and primary attack; Cygnus will use it's wings to attack in a dance-like fighting style. Think of it similar to Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art and game that includes elements of dance, acrobatics, music and spirituality. I also used Aknosom from Monster Hunter Rise as example as it has a fighting style using it's wings and legs. < As shown here Much like the Shadowmane, Cygnus will have a a combo bar that builds up whenever a hit is successfully landed on a creature, decaying over time if not landing any blows. When the bar is fully charged up, Cygnus will be able to perform one of three combos: Combo 1: Spin Attack + Cygnus will perform a spinning attack by spreading it's wings and then spin around like a helicopter, this cause's the gnashed effect. Combo 2: Somersault Kick + R Cygnus will perform a somersault to then deliver a powerful kick that will cause knockback to enemy survivors and smaller creatures that are hit Combo: 3: Counter Jab + C Cygnus will use it's wings to form a blocking stance, this one is not easy to pull off however. When your in this stance, you must wait for the right moment for the enemy to strike, when it does, Cygnus will perform a jab that causes a temporally stun effect to other survivors, small and medium creatures. It can also be used as a of escape when in dire situations. Be wary when using this combo, the blocking stance will only last 10 seconds. Also the counter will only work with physical attacks, not with gun shots, poison gas, or even ice or fire breath. So be careful! Dodging Unlike other flying birds in Ark, Cygnus is fully capable of jumping by just checking the jump button. (To fly, just simply hold the jump button) Cygnus can also run. As said earlier, Cygnus is able to fully dodge. To dodge, press the spacebar, then while doing so press any of the movement keys or in simples terms: Space + W or S It's very useful to avoid damage and making great getaways (EX: When having deal with a Giga or escape when your low on health) Above Water If your worried that when close to water when your on Cygnus, you think you will fall off your creature like other flying creatures, NOPE, not Cygnus. Much like Pelagornis, Cygnus is able to safely land on water and becomes a fast swimmer by paddling just like modern swans. As an added bonus, Cygnus can perform it's attacks, combos, and dodging above water. Also, while not moving, Cygnus will be able to regain it's stamina while above water as well. While Cygnus can't dive underwater, it's still a good aquatic mount above water Flying Being a bird of course, Cygnus will be able fly by holding the spacebar as said earlier (jumping by just checking the jump button once) Cygnus will only attack by biting while flying, so can't use your wing attacks or do your combos, but that doesn't mean you still can't dodge. In a very similar way to Pteranodon, Cygnus will perform an aileron roll, just press the crouch-key while flying. This gives a short speed boost and dodge in the process, but also depletes more stamina. Another down side for Cygnus while flying is that it doesn't have the ability to pick up creatures or other players due to their wedded feet. However, as an up side, Cygnus's flying style is similar to the Snow Owl, meaning it can dive straight down and gain an extreme increase in speed whilst diving. (Note: The real-world Cygnus Falconeri may have been flightless due to it's size, however since this is Ark (which is of course of video game), I give Cygnus the ability to fly. So why not?) (Another Note: Cygnus will throw you off their back if you're flying over lava. Be careful!) High Stamina Cygnus Falconeri has very high stamina, allowing it travel to very far places. Stats: Health: 370 Stamina: 800 Oxygen: 700 Food: 1800 Weight: 130 Movement Speed: 100% Melee Damage: 45 Taming: Taming Cygnus Falconeri is a bit similar to the Gigantopithecus, but much more annoying. When quietly feed, Cygnus Falconeri becomes suspicious on who feed it, literally it does. After performing it's dodge, Cygnus would then stare at the thing in question; YOU. My advice when this happens, don't move, I repeat, DON"T MOVE. Apparently Cygnus has had experience with dealing with people in ghillie suits. After you hold for an amount of time, Cygnus Falconeri will deliver a honk meaning "All clear!" thinking it's just a bush and with that you can continue the process. However, when halfway done. Cygnus will become even more suspicious and make to what I call a "false" honk in an attempt to draw you out, don't fall for this, cause once you move it's game over. Continue with this repetitive process, and you'll have you self a giant fighting swan. Q&A: What Is Cygnus Falconeri in Real Life???: Cygnus Falconeri, or the Giant Swan, (Maltese: Ċinju ġgant) is an extinct, very large swan known from Middle Pleistocene-aged deposits from Malta and Sicily. Its dimensions are described as exceeding those of the living mute swan by one-third, which would give a bill-to-tail length of about 190–210 cm (75–83 in) (based on 145–160 cm for C. olor). By comparison to the bones of living swans, it can be estimated that it weighed around 16 kg (35 lb) and had a wingspan of about 3 m (9.8 ft). It would have been taller, though not heavier, than the region's dwarf elephants. Due to its size, it may have been flightless. It became extinct before the increase in human activity in the region (see Holocene extinction event), so its disappearance is thought to have resulted from extreme climate fluctuations or the arrival of predators and superior competitors. Its bones are exhibited at Għar Dalam museum in Birżebbuġa, Malta. Why did you choose Cygnus Falconeri???: I honestly was a bit fascinated by this creature when I first saw it on the internet, but I to be honest, I'm not too sure why I choose it in the first place... I went with my gut I guess? Thanks for reading!!! -
Dossier/Concept Art: (Dossier art coming soon!!) Dossier: Wild: Out of all the ceratopsians I’ve seen on the Arks, none stand out as much as Centrosaurus Laminairae. Not only is this the largest ceratopsian I’ve so far on these Arks rivaling Rexes and Acros in size, but it is one of the deadliest animals I’ve seen across the Arks. I’ve observed these muscular herbivores fight against large predators and come out in triumph with the blood of their opponent on them. I’ve even observed Centrosaurus fight against a Giganotosaurus trying to attack it and . Yet they seem to be peaceful unless provoked, grazing within the herds of other ceratopsians that they dwarf in size. Domestication: While I have never tamed Centrosaurus Laminairae myself, I’ve heard from many of the tribes that it is a simple yet painful process. Whereby you injure the creature until it is enraged with anger. Then sacrificing your strongest and most mighty creatures to it. But once tamed, Centrosaurus is a war and battle mount useable for any tribe. Its deadly nasal horn can pierce the strongest of hides of beasts. Many tribes have Centrosaurus in herds of ceratopsians or even herbivores as it seems to pump their morale and encourage them to fight fiercely and fearlessly. Making them good for arena battles or war defense and offense. Some more wealthy and plentiful tribes have even made specialized armors and bladed horn pieces for their Centrosaurus to defend against deadlier foes and deal with more powerful attacks on saddle armors. Still, Centrosaurus Laminairae is something any warring or advancing tribe would not want to miss out on having in their armies. Basics on saddle, encounters and uses: Has a regular saddle (early 60s to unlock and craftable in smithy) an armored saddle with 2x defense and 2x bleed increase with its bladed horns (crafted at mid 70s for leveling in fabricator,) samurai style armor. This is a legitimate battle ceratopsian and the largest of the three in Ark rivaling the sizes of the Rex and Acro. This can fight bosses and go inside the arenas and even the Overseer cave and arena. Centrosaurus is strictly herbivorous. But when it’s in bloodlust though it would be like a carnivore, having an aggro range and attacking anything in that range. When encountering this beast, be sure to either be riding a herbivore or a ceratopsian to blend in. This ceratopsian will most likely be in herds of smaller ceratopsians, acting as a guardian for the smaller cousins of this gigantic beast. If you aggravate one of its cousins. This beast will aggravate onto you like it was one of them. Running is suggested if you do aggravate it. While this animal is mainly a PvP’s best friend. This herbivore also can be used for a harvester of berries, thatch, and stone. While it also collects wood and flint, it is not the greatest at collecting them. But able to collect heaps of berries, thatch and stone. Being one of the best for these in utility. Abilities: A basic attack: does medium damage (can be used with the regular and Samurai saddles), An Impale attack: causing heavy bleed damage with a ten second cooldown, It’s bloodlust call: A call that gains 100% damage increase to enemy creatures and players (not structures) and a 30% damage reduction for 2 minutes with a 5 minute cooldown to the call. A Buck Kick or directional Stomp: a powerful kick or Stomp that does devastating damage with a longer than average cooldown. Cannot be affected by the Bloodlust effect. Passive Abilities: The rival ability (same as Triceratops but it only works for Gigas and Carchas), It’s herbivore strengthen buff: where they get 30% damage reduction and 10% damage increase. (does not work on other Centrosaurus, does not stack with Courage Roars), It’s ceratopsian buff: Where other species of ceratopsians gains 15% damage increase and 35% damage reduction near it. (doesn’t work on other Centrosaurus, does not stack with Courage Roars) Appearance: Centrosaurus would be indeed the largest Ceratopsian in Ark, being one of largest non sauropod herbivores on this Ark. With a long, deadly horn on the snout, it can impale the thickest of hides or armors. Females have a more delicate and dull appearance, camouflaging into the forests of Valguero, where they raise their young. Taming Method: Get it into bloodlust while it’s wild and have it kill your adult tames, the higher quality the tame and level(Apexes, Gigas and Carchas, even Brontos. Carnivores will give a better taming effectiveness.), the larger the carnivore with bigger hp pools, better the taming progress is and the better the taming effectiveness is. You’d have to damage it to 10% HP to start the process. Be sure to kill off all ceratopsians near it as they will aggro onto you. Dossier: The Glyptodon of the Arks are a close representation of their prehistoric counterpart although they seem to have adapted the size of modern day Armadillos. With the ability to curl up into a near impenetrable ball when startled the sheer force of this survival reaction shoots them a solid 5 feet into the air before they hit the ground rolling to safety! And if you think you could cut your way through these little fellas, THINK AGAIN!!! Their outer shell will dull even the sharpest of weaponry! Although, they seem quite shaken by blunt force hits! I've even seen survivors sneak up on these rodents in full ghillie then remove their helmets to send them into their ball mode and then use a club to smack them into nearby rocks and structures to knock them out! Info: Glyptodon is omnivorous and will feed on anything once knocked out and even tamed! They are skittish and will spook at the first sign of danger but if all else fails and they must attack be warry as they do carry the ever deadly mega rabies! This tame has great potential to bringing more use to the use of arks shields and even more use to using the MIGHTY CLUB!!! Tamed: Once you've tamed the Glyptodon they use their insane outer shell to the best of their abilities! Much like a shoulder pet they can join your adventures but prefer to ride rolled up in a shoulder sling pouch, napping the day away until their needed! Just pull them out the pouch and they can be used to throw at the enemies dazing them for a short time. Or you could simply roll them striking the feet of the opponent and crippling their movement. although, the Glyptodon wont attack and will quickly scurry back to their pouch to sleep of the torpor they gain from the interaction. But fear not! As if you are on the receiving end of the Glyptodon you can use a shield to block them causing severe torpidity! Oooorrr just try and slap it back at their owner with a wooden club? And with their rolling expertise do I hear the idea of a bowling Ally anyone???? When not riding along with the survivor the Glyptodon can be passively put to use at the base producing chitin through their scute that can be filed down periodically much like the Archelon's Algae.
