  1. Cladoselache Dossier Common Name: Cladoselache Species: Cladoselache Limodens Time: Late Devonian Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild Survivors dismiss the shimmering lights underneath the sea as the work of unpleasant cnidaria. However, those who are knowledgeable of these lights know that Cladoselache lurks in the darkness. This shark-like fish moves in swarms, with slime-coated maws that disable prey. These creatures expertly navigate the depths, attacking and devouring anything that crosses their path. Cladoselache's slime is a viscous substance that creates a dangerous cocktail within their maws. It may seem calming to think that these animals are typically found in the depths of the ocean. However, on rare occasions, they have been known to attack Pelagornis in the darkest hours of the night. While survivors may feel safe inland, it's important to note that these sharks are capable of traveling onto land in a horrifying manner. Cladoselache's pectoral fins allow them to navigate across landscapes, which can become a nightmarish reality when these creatures are lurking in an inland lake or pond. Domesticated If somehow a survivor is capable of satiating these piscine predators, a Cladoselache is a fearsome combat mount. A swarm of these animals can decimate the unsuspecting, supplementing their diets, you can alternate the roles these creatures can perform. Making them an excellent mount that has multiple purposes, a wonderful addition to a wandering survivor. But it is somewhat concerning that they seem to be using bioluminescence to possibly communicate. Potential Base Stats and Spawning These relatives of sharks are found in the depths of the ocean, in shoals harassing even Mosasaurus. But survivors can encounter them on occasion in the shallows or inland lakes and waterways. Sometimes on an occasion find a sleeping Cladoselache, laying on the seafloor like a boulder. Health: 450 Stamina: 250 Oxygen: N/A Food: 1000 Weight: 350 Melee Damage: 35 (Bite) | 45 (Thrash) Torpidity: 400 Taming To successfully obtain a Cladoselache, patience is required. A subdued specimen can be obtained by administering biotoxin, which induces a deeper state of torpor. While unconscious, these creatures consume anything in large quantities, including their favored treat - ammonite bile. You however must first find a Cladoselache taking a nap on the ocean floor. Abilities & Functions Explained Cladoselache are creatures that thrive in packs, utilizing a swarm of twelve individuals to overpower their target. They possess the ability to traverse the land, much like Epaulette sharks, but they also possess the unique capability to leap across terrain, enhancing their stamina. To acquire Cladoselache the unique bites, one must possess a certain amount of one of four resources. Ammonite Bile causes the Cladoselache's bite to become caustic, similar to acid that removes the resistances and armor of creatures it attacks. Leech blood causes a blood letting affect, that causes target to bleed uncontrollably. Angler Gel behaves similar in a manner to Electrophorous or Cnidaria, the bite causing electrocution and torpor. While Oil, behaves in a manner that can cause a tar-effect, which if somehow a survivor can ignite the fuel underwater, causes a surprising underwater fire because of the slowing and dangerous oil. WHOA CLADOSELACHE BE UPON THEE!!!
  2. [Artwork done by myself.] 🕸️Hello allies of the Ark! My submission here is a jumping spider species that is said to have lived once between 23 and 15 million years ago, and the excitement of that discovery led to its last name, eureka! I genuinely hope to see Maevia eureka find its way to Ark some day, any support for it is infinitely appreciated, please take a moment to toss it a vote if you would like to see it around in Ark! These are my thoughts on how Maevia eureka could fit into the world we play in, in a way that reflects real life jumping spiders combined with genetic modifications from other spiders, and how they might fit into Ark in a fun and meaningful way that reflects other creatures of Ark and how important each and every one of these creatures is. I felt that, as Maevia is more of a taming companion, this gives us a different way to tame creatures using a non-harmful method! As it is in Aberration, there are many risks you take while engaging with your targets due to the fact that aberration can be quite chaotic so having to be weary of your surroundings at all times is one thing, but the larger the creature, the weaker the bola... You may find yourself having to maneuver around an area and keep your targets attention while allowing for your jumper to gather enough venom to ensnare it once again. 🏞️Habitat This is a creature that is capable of being added to any map in the game due to its likeliness of living in caves, but also as jumping spiders can be found in so many different environments, there particularly are no limits to where they could be found! 🕷️Ability - Prey Lure You're out roaming around on your two equus when one of them begins to pick up an irresistible scent coming from a nearby cave wall. Your equus is nibbling on a suspended droplet when you notice the faint glinting coming off the web it's attached to, within an instant a jumper has lunged at your equus covering it with its bola and is quickly wrapping it up in its webbing, but in order to free your companion you need to tear at the webbing, as a few good hits will send that jumper scurrying up the wall to hide! 🕷️Ability - Tranq Bola The thought is that jumpers could take the droplets they store and work them into their webbing to create venom-coated webs that could be thrown like a bola. The webs would have a tranquilizing effect whenever touched, thus causing their target to build up torpor and eventually go unconscious. 🕷️Ability - Latching As a jumping spider, they have outstanding agility and the ability to crawl on walls, but at a more rapid pace, maybe even with the cost of stamina drain for balance! An optional thing I had given thought to was the ability to fully latch onto its target in order to accurately cover them with their readied net. 🕷️Ability - Locking On This is the single feature that would make this creature so invaluable, and even possibly make it require a very difficult feat for taming it due to that power, as with the spiders extreme accuracy, it has the ability to lock its attention onto its prey, much like our real world jumping spiders who wait for the right moment to pounce, and this could also be useful for when using its projectile web net, or if grappling with a single web possibly! This is a pretty big part of what makes them 'jumping' spiders after all! 🕷️Trait - Scary Face This spider was designed in thought with evolving to be able to terrify larger than normal predators, making it an incredibly useful tame for bases, keeping your creatures better protected when having to move them around the map, I imagined it could come with an extra ability to raise its back legs with its abdomen to stay in this stance on the ground, or you could enable an option within the radial menu allowing it to find and hang down from a nearby pole, perhaps even a new item for the spiders and flyers alike, akin to a perch? 🕷️Trait/Ability - Dance! Jumping spiders in the real world have very little differentiation on sizes between male and female. The idea was that the males would be the ones that allow you to get close enough to tame them, while females will try to kill you if you do this, and when you find a male companion, he has the ability to dance when you find a female, you can engage in this dance, maybe a left/right/up/down type of button combination you have to get right in order for her to find your boy worthy of her prescence, and in the meantime you can shower her with presents of food until she wants your boy to dance for her again, gradually gaining her trust. When a movement is not corrected quickly enough, she would become hostile and attack, and you may have to wait for her to cool off before you can attempt this ritual again! There is a last minute really nice alternative way of taming these and obtaining females specifically that I would like to add, suggested by an ally of maevia! Alternative method for obtaining females! This would make it to where you would need to take your male that you tamed into the wild, and challenge it with a female! If you win the dance, the female will allow breeding and allow you to stick around, defending her in her vulnerable moment, giving you an egg (or web-wrapped little gift sac with a jumper in it or an egg or two)! This egg sac could provide a male or female you could have! 🕯️Dossier!🕯️ If there's one thing I can say about Maevia eureka, you do not want to be caught in its sights! I once witnessed a jumper locking onto its prey with the most incredible accuracy, lunging at it with lightning speed and within the blink of an eye, its prey was being saved as a snack for later. They seem to have the genes of a few other spiders like that of the ogre spider, as it can cast a gathering of its webbing along with a little dab of the venom droplet it keeps stored on its head, working that into its web to create paralytic bolas that seem to render its prey unconscious. I have reason to believe the hairs that grow on its back legs came from the peacock spider, but due to its need for protection, it also uses these 'feathers' as a menacing face that can scare off large predators, I've seen some tribes set up posts that they can hang from around the fronts of their bases. I will say one thing is for certain, though they are nearly the size of a dire bear, they are quite the cuties, especially for being a spider, there is a certain intelligence you can see when you look into their eyes, I just can't place it, but they truly make remarkable companions with the ability to rapidly scale walls, caves, cliffsides and such. By no means are they a beast of burden, however they make up for this with their abilities to constrict or assassinate their targets. Maevia eureka can take down much larger prey with its torpor inducing bola, the net cast, and this makes them remarkable allies for taming other creatures. Though I haven't been able to get close enough to befriend one of the females, the males don't seem to mind me being in a remote vicinity with them as much. I wanted to add some other suggestions in a simplified form, key points from what Ark allies have mentioned before! - Droplets could be used as a nameless venom alternative, slower to produce but useful in situations or great when you have a plethora of jumpers. - Alternative where the male is small, female is massive, male used as a shoulder buddy that has major utility such as making ziplines, grapple, and large bola, where female is the tamer albeit slow with a few things to keep the balance. - Gacha coccoons, small creatures could be snatched and turned into coccoons, hung up and could produce goodies or other useful materials. - Radial menu where the production, torpor, and other things could be enhanced, as well as weight of creatures depending on torpor percentage, for how small/medium/large the taming capability could be for jumpers. - Torpor resistance due to thick fur/hairs. - Potentially immunity to radiation, which would help a tremendous amount when seeking rockdrake eggs.
  3. What do your unused tames do while you're out there exploring, taming, farming, bossfighting, raiding ? NOTHING : they sit at base, waiting for you. Especially in the absence of cryopods ! ...what if there is a creature that gives meaning to the boring lives of all those tames ? That's where the Heterodont comes in. Main paleoart : Viergacht on DeviantArt Additional dossier sketches & ability sheet : huge thanks to linnyloaf of the Flat Ark Society HETERODONT DOSSIER ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Biome of choice : Fertile lake Harvests/gathers : Nothing on its own Generates : Nothing on its own. But latched onto other creatures... potentially everything ! Drops : Hide, Keratin (small quantities), Raw Meat Rideable : No, it's a shoulder pet Taming method : KO (Gems) Diet : Gems and Crystal Reproduction : Egg layer Key stats : Weight (its small inventory can get full fast, and it'll need to carry Gems to feed on), Oxygen (if you want it to suck on underwater creatures ; see below). Health can be useful in PvP settings, to resist damage while sucking (see below) ~ Taming method The Heterodont knows very well that you're too smart to be attacked. It will most likely flee when approached, especially with a tool or weapon in your hand (similar to the Sinomacrops). That said, it is very aggressive with wild creatures, and will often latch onto them, sucking on them while they can't do anything about it. And when it's latched onto something, it's impossible to tame ! Its weakness ? Gems. They're a delicacy this little vampire can't resist ! Drop stacks of Gems to the ground (or wait for an earthquake), and you'll see the Heterodont unlatching and trying to steal them : now is your time to bola it before it notices you. Once tranqed (which can take a while, they're quite resistant to narcotics), its taming efficiency depends on what Gems you feed it (50% for green Gems, 75% for blue Gems, and 100% for red Gems). It tends to require large quantities of Gems, even with good rates. ~ Reproduction The Heterodont is an egg layer. Two Heterodonts cannot breed if either of them is currently in a Gem condition (see below). Babies feed on Gems, or Crystal (of which they need larger quantities), and get hungry rather fast. Given their small size, Heterodont babies tend to die very young if left unmonitored... BASIC ABILITIES, not dependent on a Gem condition All the following abilities require no special action or food on your part. ~ Simple combat Use "Attack my target" to get it to bite a creature, or set it to aggressive. A tamed Heterodont (upon the condition that it's not on your shoulder) can cause a tiny bit of damage with its bite, worsened by a brief and weak bleeding buff. It's not much, but every bit helps ! Otherwise it's pretty useless in combat. ~ Shoulder pet Like the Bulbdog, Glowtail, Shinehorn and Featherlight, the Heterodont is also a light pet that will weaken Reapers and Nameless alike ! ~ Torpidity vampire While traveling on your shoulder, the Heterodont latches onto YOU ! Don't get mad, it's a compulsive behavior for the little vampire to suck on your neck... In this position, it is unable to use its teeth for anything else (like biting), but it will provide you with a Torpidity buff that will slow down the effects of poisons, darts and various narcotics. If you unlatch it by releasing it from your shoulder, you'll get a short dizzying debuff of a few seconds, so it's best to keep it on you without too many interruptions ! The Heterodont's ability to provide a Torpidity buff without harming anyone is actually also useful to quickly wake up players and creatures alike. If you need to wake up a tranqed creature for any reason, including a wild one, release the Heterodont from your shoulder while aiming for the player or creature in question. It will latch onto it and speed up the waking up process, faster than Stimulants, and without causing any damage. And just in case you might change your mind, this won't ruin your taming effectiveness, should you decide to unlatch the Heterodont before the creature wakes up ! ...Ah, speaking of, that's an important point : if you're doing this on an aggressive wild creature, remember to unlatch the Heterodont before the creature wakes up, to avoid... you know, incidents. The Heterodont's average life expectancy is short enough as it is. ADVANCED ABILITIES : everything about Gem conditions The advanced behavior of your Heterodont depends on what type of Gems you feed it. It will keep consuming said Gems from its inventory both as food AND to remain in that Gem condition. As such, the Heterodont can be used for only one ability at a time ! There is also a cooldown once a Gem condition ends, before you can feed it a different Gem. You'll easily see what type of Gem condition the Heterodont is in : its eyes change color according to it. If you don't wish to use the Heterodont's advanced abilities for a moment, you can simply feed it Crystal. It will (slowly) fill its food also. Here's a short explanation of each Gem condition : ~ Resource vampire Gem condition : green Gems - Use the radial wheel to make your Heterodont latch onto a tamed creature of your choosing - The Heterodont will start sucking the other creature's health. Make sure to provide healing for your second tame so it can keep being sucked on as long as the Gem condition lasts (a Daeodon seems ideal, for instance) - In doing so, it generates what the creature would drop if harvested once dead. That ability gathers resources at a rather slow pace ; they accumulate in the Heterodont's inventory until full - If the creature being latched on is ridden, its health will go down but no resource will be generated, risking death... in vain - Once it runs out of green Gems in its inventory, the Heterodont will naturally unlatch and the other creature won't need healing anymore Example : let's say you have an Angler Fish at base, that you're not using at the moment. The Heterodontosaurus latches onto your tamed Angler Fish, and sucks its health. Slowly, this generates the resources you'd normally harvest from a dead Angler Fish... Infinite Angler gel ! Note : this ability does not extend to Element-related resources (Element itself, Element dust, Element shards...) Gem condition : blue Gems - Use the radial wheel to make your Heterodont latch onto a tamed creature of your choosing - The Heterodont will start sucking the other creature's health. Make sure to provide healing for your second tame so it can keep being sucked on as long as the Gem condition lasts (a Daeodon seems ideal, for instance) - In doing so, it generates what the creature would be gathering if it were in use. That ability gathers resources at a rather slow pace ; they accumulate in the Heterodont's inventory until full - If the creature being latched on is ridden, its health will go down but no resource will be generated, risking death... in vain - Once it runs out of green Gems in its inventory, the Heterodont will naturally unlatch and the other creature won't need healing anymore Example : let's keep the Angler Fish situation. The Heterodontosaurus latches onto it, the Angler Fish loses health slowly, and in exchange the Heterodont starts generating Silica pearls in its inventory, and Black pearls in smaller quantities. Infinite pearls ! Note : this ability does not extend to Element-related resources (Element itself, Element dust, Element shards...). ~ Storage vampire Gem condition : red Gems - Release it from your shoulder while aiming for any enemy structure with an inventory. The Heterodont will latch onto that structure, the same way C4 would stick to it. - The Heterodont will start sucking on that structure, without damaging it - In doing so, the Heterodont slowly adds to its own inventory a random item or stack of resources that's occupying one of the structure's slots. That ability gathers resources at a rather slow pace ; they accumulate in the Heterodont's inventory until full - It will keep working on it until the structure's inventory is empty, OR until the structure is destroyed, OR until the Heterodont is out of inventory space itself, OR until the Heterodont is out of Red gems in its own inventory. Whichever comes first ! Example : this is useful in PvP settings, to empty enemy structures without destroying them. It can be a turret, a vault, a generator... It won't help you much against an entire defensive turret wall or chandelier, though ! You can try to use several Heterodonts on several turrets at once, but not everyone will come out of this alive ! In PvE, this ability will exclusively work on your own tribe's structures, and as such has a moderate appeal. PvE survivors will probably enjoy the two other Gem conditions more, but at least they'll save on red Gems ! Note : the Heterodont can still take damage while sucking on structures, so it's up to you to use a Heterodont with high health, and/or to protect it from attacks & bullets. Also, this ability doesn't extend to tek structures. Cryofridge to be determined. So, to recap : UNIQUE PERKS OF THE HETERODONT - New light shoulder pet ! It's been a while. - Taming helper and more broadly, torpidity helper. - In PvE settings, it can produce resources passively. - In PvP settings, it can replace or complement destroying structures during raids. - In the absence of Gacha farms, it can somewhat make up for it ! Once Gachas are reintroduced in Extinction, the Heterodont works differently anyway (it requires specific food, and doesn't provide Element at all), so they will complement each other. - It makes use of tames left behind at base, while you're not riding them, so it gives values to unused creatures. No cryopods ? No problem !
  4. Introducing the giant aye-aye, Daubentonia! Aberration is where horrors of the night thrive: the aye-aye is a nocturnal lemur who, in folklore, could mark people for death by pointing at them! In-game it would be a rideable climbing creature that is reactive to charge light, and who attacks by stunning/hypnotizing players and dinos at range. If you like my idea, please give it a vote! Feedback and suggestions would be great! I hope you like it! Here’s some reasons why I think it would be a great addition- o Nocturnal creatures are a great fit in Aberration- and an opportunity for jump-scares, including making the player hallucinate. It would be extra-powerful at night and on Aberration, but unlike the Megalosaurus, would not be useless once the sun comes up. o Climbing and using ziplines- a more support/utility alternative to rock drakes and ravagers. Great for building, taming and stealing rock drake eggs! Aberration, especially on single player, really needs a smaller creature that can climb and help with building taller structures. o Easy-to-aim ranged stun/ torpor attack by pointing/ glaring at enemies. Only applies torpor at night or on Aberration but can still stun during the day. When used at night on players, will cause them to hallucinate visions of predators (as well as stun/ torpor). o Enemy detection by echolocation, including being able to spot hidden rock drakes, basilisks and purlovias. o Turret mode that uses both enemy detection and ranged stun, even when latched to walls and ziplines. o Reactive to charge lights- A reason to turn off glow pets in the blue zone, and to go high up in its tree roots (where there’s currently not much to do). Can be passively tamed when charge lights are off, but be ready to fend off the Nameless! o Most predators will not attack it unless provoked, and aye-ayes are immune to red-zone radiation, perfect for a first tame to explore the red zone and rock drake trench with. o Auto-harvesting sap and giant bee honey when latched to trees or next to wild beehives. o Auto-feeding its rider with giant bee honey, which takes longer to spoil in its inventory. (Credit to Metatrox for the dossier template provided on the forum) Background The giant aye-aye (Daubentonia robusta) lived until around 1,000 years ago in Madagascar. Under the cover of darkness, it would search for fruit, sap and insects. It would find insects by tapping tree trunks and detecting the vibrations off the bugs, almost like echolocation. The latin name for the Ark’s aye-aye could be Daubentonia torvexspiravit (meaning ‘glaring ghost aye-aye’). Its modern counterpart, the aye-aye, is now endangered (but was itself once thought to be extinct, just like the coelacanth). It is the target of Malagasy superstition; it is believed that those pointed at by an aye-aye have been marked for death. Their ears and long fingers have evolved a similar sense to echolocation. This, coupled with its creepy appearance and large, nocturnal eyes, are a fantastic inspiration for Ark’s own version of this evolutionary experiment. It’s believed D. robusta looked like a larger version of the modern aye-aye but there is not enough fossil evidence to confirm this. D. torvexspiravit will be even bigger, much larger than the player and able to be ridden. While the local folklore surrounding aye-ayes does make for an interesting addition to the game, it is in real life a cause for wild aye-ayes to be hunted. Aye-ayes are endangered (and at one time themselves were believed to be extinct). Adding this to Ark would help raise awareness about modern aye-ayes and their persecution. Dossier Wild While the Arks are patrolled during the daylight by towering reptiles and fierce predators, Daubentonia has made a life for itself under the cover of darkness. Wild aye-ayes shy away from all light sources, including charge light. While you’re unlikely to see an aye-aye, you may hear them tapping trees to hunt insects with their freakishly long fingers. Aye-ayes prefer to hide away from combat, but when cornered can stun a would-be attacker with a hypnotic glare. Even the largest foes can be frozen for long enough to allow an aye-aye to escape! If you can approach an aye-aye in the dark without startling it then you may be able to tame it with its favourite food, honey. Domesticated While not the most appealing-looking creature on the Arks, aye-ayes make for intelligent and loyal pets. When ridden, they can climb up trees and along ziplines. They will even share their favourite food with a hungry rider! For the more sedentary tribes, they can latch onto trees or beehives and gather sap or honey. Daubentonia’s unique set of talents can provide valuable support to any tribe. During the night, their stunning glare can be used just as effectively on command as in the wild. I have seen a tribe keep aye-ayes inside their homes to detect and stun intruders. Their enhanced senses allow them to detect nearby aggressors, even in caves. Wild Behaviour Spawns high up in the trees of the bioluminescent zone- it’s such an amazing part of the map but there’s currently little reason to go there. It’s also fairly hard to get to, so the chance to tame an Aye-aye would make the journey worthwhile. An alternative is the redwoods of the Green Zone but this would be too easy to get to and doesn’t punish you for having charge lights off in the area. Unlike other aberrant creatures, aye-ayes should not be bioluminescent. They should be dark and hard to spot; their glowing eyes and sounds of tapping on branches the only signs they are near. This would make a surprise encounter, especially for the first time, even more thrilling. Other wild dinosaurs do not attack aye-ayes as they fear their mysterious abilities. Nameless and reapers do not attack wild aye-ayes however they will target tamed ones. Their temperament is defensive- if the player comes too close with charge lights on it will retaliate with a ranged stun attack. This stun attack can induce torpor even when a player is riding a dino. This however is not used to kill the player: only in self-defence and the aye-aye will retreat afterwards (to match the lore behind it looking much creepier than it really is). In the dark of the blue-zone this stun could be a creepy jump scare (including showing hallucinations of predators on the screen). With all lights, including charge light, turned off, a player can approach the aye-aye to tame it. Taming Passive tame- Approach them with charge light/pets/torches turned off. If the aye-aye is up a tree or a blue zone root it can be lured down with giant bee honey. Once on the ground it can be passively fed honey, sap, citronal, berries or chitin (in order of decreasing effectiveness). Just like many passive tames if it takes damage the taming progress will reset. Passive tames are usually quite easy, however the real challenge will be surviving long enough with charge lights turned off to complete the taming process. You’ll have to fight off the nameless and reapers without hitting the aye-aye and resetting your progress. Utility These are ideas and abilities I think would fit the Aye-aye and be a good fit for Ark, hopefully WC will follow this same idea. Ridden- The aye-aye would require a saddle to ride. The saddle should be craftable at around level 60, requiring hide, fiber, fungal wood and blue gems. The aye-aye is adept at climbing, able to climb like a thyla or dinopithecus. They can use ziplines, walking on top of the zipline like ravagers. It has a fairly fast sprint on land (similar speed to a Baryonyx) and good ability to jump. It would be immune or resistant to fall damage. Being a smaller climber on Abb would be super helpful for building as rock drakes are too big and clumsy for this and climbing picks have limited durability. Players can use weapons from the back of them, even when climbing or on ziplines. Even when ridden they can still detect enemies. When the player’s hunger is below 50% the aye-aye will automatically feed the player giant bee honey from its own inventory. Like the dinopithecus, most predators will not attack a tamed aye-aye unless provoked. The exceptions (on Aberration) to this are rock drakes, reapers, nameless, karkinos, spinos and direbears. Alongside an immunity to the red zone’s radiation, this makes aye-ayes a great first tame for exploring the red zone and artifact caves. Combat- Instead of relying on biting in combat (the bite should do around base 35 damage), the aye-aye has a ranged stun attack that can also apply torpor. The ranged attack’s animation should look like the aye-aye pointing, just like in Malagasy superstition. Night vision goggles could prevent this attack from affecting players or tames that can wear it. When ridden, a reticle would be on-screen to help aim the attack. This attack would require good aim and is therefore easier to use against large creatures than players. At night time (or always on Aberration) this ranged attack will hypnotise its target and apply significant torpor. Stun recharge is too long to stun-lock but each stun lasts long enough to out-manoeuvre enemies. Torpor is applied gradually, so will still stack despite the lower frequency stun. During the day the attack is still useful for stunning enemies before using tranqs. At night and on Abb extra tranqs won’t be needed for knocking out creatures! When the ranged attack is used on players it will cause hallucinations to appear on the screen; this will take the form of Aberrant predators (randomly chosen, could be raptors, ravagers, carnos or megalosaurus) running towards them, vanishing once they get too close. This can also be caused by wild aye-ayes. This effect makes more sense to only happen at night or on Aberration. This attack would be especially scary as the target would also be stunned! This ranged attacked would work in turret mode, alongside enemy detection. This makes aye-ayes a perfect base defence tame. Enemy detection- As modern aye-ayes can ‘echolocate’ by tapping their long fingers on trees, they should be able to detect nearby enemies in-game. The in-game animation would be the aye-aye tapping the ground and then listening. It can also detect invisible rock drakes and underground basilisks/purlovias, and is therefore useful as a more versatile alternative to parasaurs. Can be used when ridden or set to turret mode (turret mode can also auto-stun, auto-detect or both using the radial wheel). Can even work when latched to walls. When ridden, enemy detection is the ‘roar’ attack. Resource gathering and auto-feeding- When dismounted while climbing, it stays latched onto any surface. If latched onto redwood trees it will passively gather sap slowly. If near wild beehives or honey resource nodes it will passively gather giant bee honey (but more slowly than a tamed hive). Auto-gathering can be turned on or off using the radial wheel. Only gathers sap and honey, not berries. The bite attack will gather small amounts of berries or mushrooms if used near a bush. The amount gathered is very small, less than an iguanodon, to prevent the rider being encumbered after every fight. This bite can still harvest meat and hide, but less effectively than carnivores. It has a weight reduction of 50% for berries, honey and sap. Honey spoils more slowly in its inventory to make it better at auto-feeding and auto-gathering. When the rider’s hunger is below 50%, the aye-aye can automatically feed them some giant bee honey from its inventory. This ability can be toggled with the radial wheel, just like turret mode settings. Overall, functions similarly to a mid to late-game rock drake/ravager but also has its own unique uses. Being smaller than rock drakes, it can be used to climb structures and make base-building easier (it’s currently a pain on Abb). Its stun attacks, rock-drake detection and climbing abilities would make it great for helping steal rock drake eggs or caving. It can be used on Abb, or at night time, for taming (and in the day time you can fire tranqs off its back). It’s also different enough to the previous two to not fully outclass them- ravagers will still be better for pack-based combat and as a pack mule, and rock drakes would have better health and faster movement when gliding. As well as being a traveling and taming mount, aye-ayes could be useful in PVE and single player for gathering honey or sap in an alternative way, reducing the need for tree taps. In PVP it could have a niche use for stunning enemies or riders- it’s stunning abilities can be devastating when used right! They would also make a great turret tame and synergise well with other turrets by stunning targets. Wikipedia for Daubentonia robusta- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_aye-aye Wikipedia for the modern aye-aye- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aye-aye Thanks for reading! What are your thoughts on the aye-aye? What do you think its stats should be and do you have any additions that could improve this creature? I’ve tried hard to make a creature that would be a fun, useful and balanced addition to Aberration that fits the theme. I think all of the suggested abilities make sense for this creature but I’m happy to hear your opinions!
  5. Wild: The Oculudentavis, also known as Narcler, is living peacefully in the deepest caves of Aberration, because of it‘s poison, aggressive creatures don‘t attack it, but it’s although really jumpy and runs away when it sees a danger. It mostly consumes small insects near them, but also absorbes torpor from unconscious creatures to survive, so try to don‘t knock out creatures near the Narcler, because he will definitely try to consume the torpor. It is really rare and is also hard to find because of it‘s colour, which is adapted to the vegetation and colours of Aberration. The Narcler is one of the few creatures which can easily survive the poison and radiation of Aberration. Domesticated: Once the Narcler is tamed, it serves you as a loyal, poisonous shoulder pet and brings a lot of useful abilities with it to make your live on Aberration and on generally every Ark easier. The Narcler is having a torpor storage, which fills itself up, when consuming Torpor from creatures or survivors, or when it gets fed things which raise torpor (for example narcoberries), it is important to know, that the torpor storage is having a limit. When it is on your shoulder, the Narcler is able to suck out torpor from you, to cause that you don‘t get unconscious, for example when you get attacked from a Titanoboa or with tranquilizer darts from other survivors. This works until the torpor storage from the Narcler is full. With the help of the torpor of it‘s storage, the Narcler is able to spit the torpor at opponents to make them unconscious, this also works with taming other creatures. With it‘s torpor storage the Narcler is also able to heal the survivor a bit, by consuming the torpor from the storage (only works when it is having torpor in its storage) When the Narclers storage is full, it gives the survivor and the ridden creature a buff for speed, stamina and strength (when the storage is no longer full, the effect stays for 30 seconds) The last but not least abilitiy from the Narcler is creating narcotics in his inventory, by using rotten flesh and the torpor from its storage, the Narcler produces narcotics much faster than the mortar an pestle. Domestication: The taming of the Narcler is a little bit like the taming of the Troodon and Noglin, you have to make creatures near the Narcler unconscious and go away quickly until he is beginning to consume the torpor, then you just have to repeat this process until it‘s torpor storage is full and you have achieved taming a Narcler! Thank you very much for reading my ideas for the Oculudentavis, I hope you liked them and I would be really happy about a vote or/and a comment(:
  6. Atopodentatus is a versatile mount with a unique niche, and will serve as a very unique critter. I must give credit to INDOMELEON since they inspired me to give the ability of shooting projectiles from atopodentatus mouth after I saw their concept art for it. Here is the initial concept art for atopodentatus. ATopodentatus' niche and abilities 1. it will have 3 species, The one with the square bill like face(sb) and split upper jaw(suj) 2. Only creature that harvests the 3 seaweed types 3. Different playstyle for both subspecies 4. Available to tame at lvl 35-50, not decided which lvl exactly you can start taming them 5. Creates resin with seaweed and atopo saliva, paired with sand and minerals can create bullets or globs respectively SB: 1. multiple skull Joints, to make it look like a x shaped gun at will(switch modes) looks like indomeleons atopo dossier shooting mode 2. Chemical reaction from atopo saliva, different types of seaweed as well as bio toxin that creates a special resin used to create the atopo bullets that sb shoots. 3. Seaweed(green, red, and blue seaweed)- normal atopo bullets, deal close to as much as longneck 4. Purpleweed(purple sea weed)- shoots splits resin to multiple sections, to shoot like a shotgun, deals shotgun type damage 5. Blackweed(blackish-green sea weed)- like normal bullets, but provides poison debuff to target, draining stamina, and draining small bits of health 6. Bio toxin- like normal bullets, but can apply a small amount of torpor, and can shut down generators and turrets, This also puts SB in a drugged state, making it jumpy and fast, cnidaria are the only live animal that they eat(hint at taming) 7. Imune to cnidaria bio toxin 8. More pvp based 9. Slightly larger SUJ: 1. Has a split upper jaw, making it more suited for eating floating seaweed, it also eats small fish. this also makes it able to create globs of 2. Chemical reaction from atopo saliva, using different types of seaweed that creates a special resin, used in narco globs 3. Seaweed- used to create normal globs, sticky, like rhynio resin good for trapping small sized creatures 4. Purpleweed- used to rapid fire 3 globs, applies 1.5x damage than normal glob+2x trap power 5. Blackweed- applies large amounts of torpor per glob SB: Common Name: Atopodentatus Species: Atopodentatus SB Temperment: Passive, flee when provoked unless in groups Time: Mid Triassic Diet: Herbivore unless knideria nearby WILD: Atopodentatus SB can usually be found basking on rocks or grazing in the shallow seas of Ragnarok. These creatures seem to be able to distort their jaw structure to use it as a gun, using bullets put of a unique resin like substance. A Notable feature of Atopodentatus, is that they seem to trigger a frenzy after they see knideria in their proximity, and after gourging pn bio toxin, will enter a drugged state(like being drunk), in this state they will be vicious when provoked. They also look like the goofiest creatures on The Ark with their angry and cartoony looking faces. DOMESTICATED: Atopodentatus are pretty hard to tame, In which you will have to feed it bio toxin to make it groggy, then you will have to feed it seaweed(only way to get it without an atopodentatus is with a sickle, this is much slower). The atopodentatus are fast creatures especially in water, being able to traverse like a fish even though they aren’t fish. You will also be able to Utilize their unique ability to become a living turret gun, whith a unique resin-like substance created with atopodentatus’ saliva aswell as different types of seaweed and some salt from the water to create special bullets. These bullets’ affects vary on which seaweed type is used There Is Much more to cover, however this will be posted at a later date, also i dont have a full concept art or dossiers(yes there will be 2) right now, but sooner or later they will be posted. Anyways, I do have some WIP concepts and a sticker to show. In conclusion, My main goal is to bring a unique, special and mostly FUN creature to the huge roster for Ragnarok. I hope that you like the concept and GOOD LUCK!!! I am also taking ability suggestions, If a suggestion is good I will add it to the Submission and credit the person who suggested it.
  7. The arbanitis is a giant trapdoor spider Local to the desert area, such as scorched earth, this giant spider lives in small burrows that survivors try to take over to build small bases to hide from the weather. They posses a stunning bite which they use most by striking from under ground after burrying themselves. They also posses the ability to jump large distances and have limited glide ability and take no fall damage. They can also climb on walls and ceilings. When tamed these spiders make an excellent travel companion with there ability to glide and make taming easier with there torpor inducing bite. You would find these buried in the sand in small pocket burrows that your p/c could build a small shelter out of the weather in.
  8. Hi ! This a repost of my previous suggestion for a new creature in ARK : Uintatherium arietem ! A creature both able in combat and farming, with the powerful ability to damage any structure, that will feel at ease in the semi-deserts of Scorched Earth Species: Uintatherium arietem Time: Early Eocene Diet: Herbivorous Temperament: Short-Tempered Wild: Somewhat looking like a rhino, and with similar character, Uinthatherium arietem is probably the most short-tempered creature on the island. This large herbivore will attack any carnivore in sight and will even trample small peaceful herbivores that would come and invade is personal space, delivering powerful headbutts and goring tusks bites. Domesticated: When domesticated, Uintatherium can prove useful both in combat and for farming. Its ramming ability allows it to stun any creature it runs into as well as damaging any type of structures, especially doors and gates. Such ability also allows it to gather obsidian efficiently, further helped by seemingly not feeling the weight of that material. This powerful ram combined with its resilience makes it a very helpful and versatile mount. Taming this creature might prove difficult though, as one must let it ram into a shield in order to knock it out, which, if not done properly, can lead to a gruesome end. Attacks : - LMB : Headbutt. Harvests flint and obsidian efficiently. Can damage up to metal structure. Deals a small amount of torpor. - RMB : Charging attack. Charges for a limited time with moderate control of direction. Deals important amount of damage and torpor. Increased damage against structures. Can damage all tiers and will immediately destroy anything lower or equal to stone. Stuns creatures. - C : Tusk/Bite attack. Allow for berry and corpse gathering. - Ctrl : Roar. Gives a speed buff to itself and nearby allies. Taming : Immune to normal means of torpor. With shield in hand, wait until it notices you. Stay at a certain distance to allow it to charge. Let it ram into you while blocking with the shield. This will increase it’s torpor. The better the shield the more the torpor dealt. Once it’s knocked out feed it like any herbivore. Probably superior kibble. Abilities : - Torpor and stun immune, small bullet resistance. - Weight reduction for obsidian and flint and really good at harvesting them. - Roar to gain a speed boost. - Saddle has a second seat facing the back of the creature. Wikipedia link for info on the real creature : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uintatherium The third picture is by Mauricio Anton.
  9. Micropachycephalosaurus longumastis Would act as a shoulder mount with the ability to deal torpor like a pachycephalosaurus, except it also stuns them for 10 seconds. It would be tamed using crops passively and would be found around the few water sources on scorched earth. It can also be thrown from your shoulder to deal extra torpor depending on where on the Dino it made contact with. It is also very smol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micropachycephalosaurus
  10. What is Dracovenator? Dracovenator is an extinct species of Dilophosauridae, it lived during the Jurassic period and it was roughly 5.5-6.5m tall, around the size of a Velonasaur. It was more than likely a carnivore due to its heritage. Dracovenator's name means Dragon Hunter, isn't that cool! Why should you choose Dracovenator for Scorched Earth? Dracovenator will be the perfect addition to Scorched Earth, providing a stable way to knock out creatures with its Torpor dealing abilities and the ability to act as a fridge for Wyvern Milk, as well as an easy way to grab Wyvern eggs whilst being completely unnoticed, and if you would be noticed you can at least defend yourself from them, on top of that it's spit has different effects based on what consumables you put in it's inventory. Dracovenator Dossier Wild: Larger and faster than the native Dilophosaurus, Dracovenator Toxicus is Ark's most fascinating resident. Whenever Dracovenator is on the hunt, its victims fall unconscious before they are even killed. While it seems they are aggressive, I noticed them feeding on bushes, a weird behaviour but perhaps there is meaning to it. Tamed: An asset to any survivor's tribe, once tamed Dracovenator can be fed a variety of narcotics to boosts its venom's capabilities, Like it’s Namesake, it posseses a unique ability to sneak into Wyvern nests completely undetected. Behaviour Dracovenator is fairly aggressive, but seems to relax once it goes through a few berry bushes. However it is still best not to approach as they have violent tendencies. Appearance Dracovenator is around the size of a Velonasaur but with an appearance similar to Dilophosaurus, just without the frill. It has varied osteoderms cover its body with its delightful crest. Taming Dracovenator is a passive tame and must be approached with caution when trying to tame, it is best advised to where a ghilli suit whilst consuming a Cactus Broth. Clear any agro targets in the vicinity, then throw tamed creatures with narcotics, Narcoberries or Bio Toxin in their inventory, let Dracovenator kill that tamed creature and the items will transfer to Dracovenator, it will gain taming effectiveness based on what items you put in it, after Dracovenator is at 100% go up to it and start feeding it Regular Kibble, mutton etc, each type of taming food will depend on how much taming effectiveness it loses. It is best advised to use Dodo's as they are an easy tame. Combat Keep the high ground or be knocked out, have lots of stimulants on you, you'll need them. You can use bear traps to stop them or throw any narcotics on the ground (this does not work for the tamed version). Attacks Primary: Just a regular bite attack, with a fairly decent speed. This attack also picks up wild Wyvern eggs and Drake eggs. Secondary: Spit attack, crosshairs are present on your screen whenever you ride this creature. Gains different effects based on consumables. Spit Attack Mechanics Placing different Talons in Dracovenators inventory will give different reactions with its spit. These options will be placed on a hot wheel and can be disabled at any point. Fire Wyvern Talons makes it become a mini Fire Wyvern where it spits a pool of burning venom which if you or a creature stands in for too long, will set it alight, it deals AoE damage to structures, tames and players. Poison Wyvern Talons makes it become a Poison Wyvern where it spits out a concentrated amount of venom which gives torpor to creatures and players, it does not deal much damage as it is meant more for utility. Lightning Wyvern Talons makes it become a Lightning Wyvern where it spits out a pool of electrifying liquid which stuns players and creatures, this also temporarily shuts off generators. Utilities - PvE Versatile Taming Assistant: Narcotics in Dracovenator's inventory allows you to deal torpor to creatures and players, as if it is mocking the Poison Wyvern. Travel Mount: Dracovenator is an extremely agile creature being able to jump and run far distances without getting tired out, it can also hold a fairly decent amount of weight, as well as being able to climb some surfaces, making it a fairly reliable travel mount. Boss Fighter: Whilst not being used for its spit attack Dracovenator is a fairly reliable boss dino due to its maneuverability and damage output. Egg Stealer: Dracovenator possesses a unique ability where wyverns will ignore it, as it acts as an imposter while you are riding it. Whilst riding it use your melee attack at a nest to pick up the egg. Fertilised Egg Collector: Perfect for any mass breeder, an automatic egg collector so you don't have to wait around to pick up eggs. Abilities - PvP Turret: Putting Dracovenator in its turret mode allows it to use it's basic spit which slows down tames/survivors whilst also debuffing their armour. Base Destroyer: Putting Sulphur in Dracovenators inventory let's Dracovenator spit out a pool of burning venom which deals DoT to structures and players. Raiding Ally: Putting Gasoline in Dracovenators inventory will allow it to shut off generators whilst also stunning players and tames for a short duration. Soaker Counter: Due to its Flak saddle and armour debuffing spit, Dracovenator can help deal with soakers whilst providing support to your tribe. Passive Abilities Harvester: Dracovenator harvests Narcoberries and Bio Toxin at an increased rate, and will also cause Nameless to drop Nameless Venom more frequently. Fridge: Whilst Bio Toxin, Nameless Venom or Wyvern Milk are in its inventory, it will increase the spoil times making Dracovenator a reliable companion when raising Rock Drakes and Wyverns! Torpor Immunity: Naturally since Dracovenator feasts on so much torpor inducing items, it is naturally immune to the stings of Jellyfish and survivors who try to knock it out. Wyvern/Drake Fighter: Due to Dracovenator name sake, it only makes sense for it to be able to have additional damage against the Drake kind. Saddle Dracovenator has 2 saddles, a normal hide saddle or a flak saddle providing a mounted flame thrower but this disables it's ability to use its spit attack.
