Leaellynasaura, The Center’s All-terrain Supporter!
Din0Gamer posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
This is Leaellynasaura, the Center’s new all-terrain support Dino with applications for both PvP and PvE purposes. The medium-sized Ornithischian gets a size boost to be completely rideable, and hails from Prehistoric Australia. The Leaellynasaura is designed as an excellent forward scout and army-support, as well as an all-terrain alternative for Flyers. Let’s get into her abilities, shall we? Design Leaellynasaura are originally small, bipedal ornithischian Dinosaurs from Early Cretaceous Australia and Antarctica. Theorized to be covered in feathers of some kind to aid in temperature regulation. ARKs Leaellynasaura is similar. A naturally albino creature with light blue hues, the feather covered Leaellynasaura is hard to spot amongst the icy places it calls home. Unlike its real world counterpart, the ARK Leaellynasaura is larger, just under the size of a Utahraptor, and has significantly larger front limbs, boasting gripping claws. Dossier “Common Name: Leaelly Species: Leaellynasaura Aquambulatio Time: Early Cretaceous Diet: Herbivorous Temperament: Passive” Wild ”Leaellynasaura Aquambulatio are unique little fellas, found in arctic regions. Since they’re lower on the food chain, they can oftentimes be seen by the coasts, where they are the safest. Their fluffy coats offer them protection from the cold, and keeps them relatively dry from chilly waters. They keep to the shores due to the unique method they use to escape predators: walking on Water! Much like Basilisk lizards, they can run on the waves, though unlike them, Leaellynasaura can move at several speeds and even drift! They can even clamber up sheer cliffs if need be. They can often be seen near to the Mammoth herds that wander the Tundra, as they often defend the smaller critters from the ravenous Direwolves and Yutyrannus.” Donesticated “Leaellynasaura Aquambulatio offer unique attributes few tribes out here can master. Particularly, their impressive mobility on both land and water allow their riders to move at significant speed across most terrains, acting as top-of-the-line forward scouts and exploratory mounts. Interestingly, some tribes have been able to coax out a frosty armor from the air trapped within the fuzzy friends feathers, coating their Allies in a frozen armor of some kind, greatly increasing their defenses. If one can master a Leaellynasaura, they can potentially master the entire region.” Ecology Leaellynasaura are found in the north and south arctic regions, particularly around the coast. They are (mostly) herbivores, meaning they are oftentimes on the run from stronger predators such as the Yuty or Direwolves. They have developed a unique taste for Organic Polymer however, and will prey on Kairuku is pressured. They have a unique relation with the Mammoths of the region, oftentimes using their unique abilities to boost up the mammals in defense of their territory. Taming Leaellynasaura are tamed passively, through gaining their trust. Survivors must keep hostile creatures (including tamed ones) away from the Dino long enough for it to develop into a calmed state. Once it is in this state, it must be fed berries, crops, Veggie Cakes, or their favorite, Organic Polymer. If a hostile creature enters a certain radius, Taming Effectiveness and Taming level itself will begin to decrease, and any nearby Mammoths will become hostile. Abilities Leaellynasaura have a wide range of abilities designed to aid survivors in both PvP and PvE environments. Firstly, they are adept at travel, being faster than most other species, similar to the Galimimus. Due to its claws, it also has notable climbing capabilities, identical to those of the Deinonychus. The signature ability of the Leaellynasaura however is it’s ability to run on water, much like the real life basilisk lizard, yet with fewer limitations. Leaellynasaura can move at either speedy or more controllable speeds, allowing it to effectively evade predators or forage for food. While they can’t properly stop on the water, they can quickly drift to get into a new direction. Their traveling capabilities are only supported by their fur insulating riders from both heat and cold. What’s more, is they can provide an icy armor to Allies, increasing defense significantly. This does not heal like that of a Snow Owl, but the Leaellynasaura remains mobile and can reapply the effect when out of harm’s way. Uses ~All-terrain Exploration Mount The Leaellynasaura is a must-have for traveling The Center on foot, and potentially even for caving. Its unique set of skills allow it to be an amazing land mount, where Survivors can quickly escape a bad situation and keep moving to find their next target, and due to its thermal regulation, survivors can worry less about the environments they chose to explore. ~Forward Scout Due to its small stature, natural camouflage, unique skills and impressive speed, Leaellynasaura works amazingly as a forward scout prior to a raid. Few creatures can keep up with it, and it’s capabilities allow its rider to get a complete view of the enemy prior to any assault. ~Bossing/Defense Support With its Icy armor buff applied, Leaellynasaura easily pairs well with Yutyrannus or Mammoth buffs for both Boss fights and Raid defense. It excels especially due to its mobility allowing it to dodge and weave through attacks, making up for it’s relatively small health pool. ~Caving Dino while not as physically powerful as contenders such as the Baryonyx or Thyla, Leaellynasaura makes up for it with its impressive mobility, only matched by Deinonychus and Megalania within most Artifact caves. Notes -I submitted the Leaellynasaura due to the lack of variety in most community votes. While many different species (some good, some bad) have made it into the top ten, the winners are mostly the large carnivores (Charchar, Fasolasuchus, Gigantoraptor) or flyers (Desmodus, Sinomacrops, Rhiniognatha) and I wanted to introduce something new. Specifically a herbivore, as the last herbivore to be introduced was the Amargasaurus on Lost Island (unless the Andrewsarchus eats berries but I don’t recall it doing so). -the Leaellynasaura was designed as both a PvP and a PvE tame to appeal to both crowds. while I’d generally expect more PvE use based on its abilities, It can almost certainly contend among other PvP support Dinos. -I specifically submitted it to The Center due to the map’s wide variety of environments and conditions and the lack of a proper all-terrain creature on the map (that isn’t a flyer). -While it is inferior in several ways to other creatures (Bloodstalkers, Deinonychus) I believe the Leaellynasaura is an excellent mix of several unique abilities that fits into a unique niche on its introduced map.- 3 replies

debuffer The Mini Bronto of the Desert: Massospondylus
TwizzlerOfWorlds posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Brontosaurus of the Desert I understand how many people are getting tired of dinosaur-based creatures; however, I would like to share my ideas on this creature and potentially change your mind on it. Massospondylus is an early Jurassic dinosaur belonging to the genus Sauropodomorph, a genus that is the ancestor of sauropods. This creature would add to the group of dangerous herbivores, something that ark is in need of. This creature would be a little larger than a megatherium, or if anything, a maximum of 13 feet tall. The image below is what I think this creature could be. As we can see, this creature has a similar proportion to that of a brontosaurus except for the arms. It would have excellent carry weight, control of temperature, and even possess some offensive skills. Before going any further, I would like to mention I am not good with digital art, and the image above is some of my own pencil drawings, so please excuse me for the quality. Stances Starting with the creature's stances, it will have 3. The first being its regular form, where it will walk on four legs for transport. Although it isn't as slow as a brontosaurus, it would be roughly the same speed as a Thyla, or even a bit slower. The second stance will be similar to the image above, where it will stand on two legs. In this stance, the Massospondylus will be able to do more damage, similar to the Spinosaurus and Iguanadon. Similar to them, this creature will move slowly in this stance. It will be in this stance that many of the creatures abilities will be available. Finally, as for the third stance, the creature will curl itself while standing. In this state, the dinosaur will be able to protect the rider and itself from all damage. However, there is a downside to taking this stance. The longer you are in this stance, the damage reduction will begin to diminish, followed by your stamina being used up. Additionally, the Massospondylus will move very slowly in this stance. Note that switching between stances will leave the dinosaur vulnerable. taking more damage in this short period of time. Abilities As for the abilities, this creature will have three special abilities, one of which is a passive ability. Sandstorm When in a group of at least two Massospondylus, it will be able to create a small sandstorm. This animal and its companions, will sweep their tails across the floor, causing dust to rise into the surrounding air. Enemies caught in this attack will experience blindness and take more damage depending on the amount of Massospondylus in the pack. Having 4 Massospondylus will max out this extra damage intake. The dust will eventually go away, and all the dinosaurs that were inside will have returned to normal. Tackle This creature will ram into its enemies, dragging their heads across the floor and throwing dust into the opposing creature's eyes. This ability is available when the Massospondylus is isolated or in groups. However, it will only render the creature blind and cause temporary damage reduction to the opposing creature, where it will do less damage. This will only last for a couple of seconds. Stronger in Numbers When in a group of three, many medium-sized dinosaurs or creatures will not attack you. When in a group of four, these dinosaurs will take reduced damage but no notable increase in damage from basic attacks. Other When riding the Massospondylus, gain protection from weather and hot temperatures. It will also be able to turn cactus sap into a substance than can be harvested in a jar. This substance will share the same properties as cactus broth. Saddle Like in the image above, this creature will possess a camel-like saddle; however, it will have another saddle that is a platform saddle. This saddle will be similar to that of the camel before, but it will instead be dragging along a "sand boat" that will allow the owner to build and place structures on. However, equipping this saddle will prohibit the creature from going into its defensive stance, as well as blocking it from using its abilities to tackle and sandstorm. Although in the image above I initially said it would be 13 feet, this creature will be smaller than a Diplodocus yet larger than a Velonasaur in order to have this ability. Taming In order to tame this beast, you must feed wild baby Massospondylus. Baby Massospondylus can be found in the wild within adult packs. Adult Massospondylus are generally aggressive in the presence of one of their children. Baby Massospondylus will run away at the scent of danger. For this reason, you must first gather some of the creatures poop to avoid scaring the baby. Putting the poop of this creature on babies may fool them, but it won't fool adults, as they will still attack on first sight. Attacking the adults with babies around will cause the baby to run away, regardless of whether you are covered in poop. Because of this, one must K.O. the baby Massospondylus from a distance. While it is sleeping, kill the surrounding adult Massospondylus and await the baby's awakening. At this point, you may approach the baby and feed it (passively) veggie cake, the only food that the babies will eat. You must take note that secreting yourself in Massospondylus poop will cause nearby creatures to attack, regardless of whether they are normally passive or not. Killing any creature nearby the baby will cause it to become scared and lose its taming. Habitat This creature can be found in nearby water sources, like small river flows. They typically don't stay near deep ponds. On occasion, they do wander into the dunes of a desert, but they cannot be found in packs out there. They can be found in groups of 5, with at least 1 baby in a group of 3. Resource Harvesting This creature can harvest wood, thatch, sand, berries, veggies, and, in some cases, meat, although it will not eat it. Lastly it will also be an excellent cactus harvester. Final Thoughts At the end of the day, I think that this creature will add to the diversity of Scorched Earth, like many other creatures that have been submitted here. But I have noticed a lack of love for dinosaurs like the sauropods. There isn't much of a large list of creatures that are both herbivores and generally aggressive. I hope that you can see this creature's utility on scorched earth. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and may the best creature win!!!! Feel free to post any recommendation or thoughts you have on my creature submission. Thank you again and remember to vote for me!!!- 1 reply

Edaphosaurus mimos - cave companion and bane of Purlovia
SmileShape posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
ARK has many prehistoric creatures, but I think we could use some more that are not necessarily more large theropods or creatures that are better counterparts. We have many dinosaurs, other reptiles, mammals, some insects, fish, even a few birds, but I think synapsids are the group that's being slept on. That's why I thought they could use a member that could really prove useful in later parts of the game or maybe even PVP. Overview Edaphosaurus mimos would be a small creature, but since in ARK we don't really care about scientific sizes, I would put it somewhere between Phiomia and Ovis in these terms. This cousin of Dimetrodon, would also posses ability to mess with temperature, a bit differently, but more about that later. It would be an omnivore, that prefers honey over anything with taming method similar to that of a Gacha, where you just throw its taming food on the ground and wait for it to eat it. Domesticated specimens would also heal significantly more health after eating honey from their inventory, much like Rock Drakes do with Nameless venom. Since its too small and has the sail on its back, traditional saddle won't work, but maybe its sail could be strong enough to support two seats on the sides of Edaphosaurus. Edaphosaurus lives in swamps just like its cousin and just like its relative its not looking for trouble there. You'd normally find one or two strolling around despite all the crocs, snakes and Baryonyxes. They aren't aggressive nor territorial, but will defend themselves while attacked. Skills and abilities Edaphosaurus can manipulate temperature around it with its sail to create either extreme cold or heat. When set to specific one, they can send out an impulse of said temperature with cold slowing enemies, and heat setting them on fire. This can also be very useful in PVP as it also affects enemy players and giving them the effect of hypo/hyperthermia. Its worth noting that the impulses also have some other advantages to them. Flyers affected by cold impulse will be grounded for short time. That debuff reoccurs as long as the creature is in range of Edaphosaurus attacks. Fire impulse on the other hand, deals increased damage to insects. This abilities make Edaphosaurus great for caving since it can both ground bats with cold and make quick work of insects with heat. Both of these impulses can also make Purlovias jump out of the ground, they can't, however, throw off Edaphos rider for some time, while affected by this ability. Unlike Dimetrodon, this creature mastered the ability to control temperature of its own body to the extent where it can mask its presence from hostile creatures. In terms of stats it would have good weight and decent health for a creature of this size. It wouldn't be too fast (on par with Parasaur maybe), but running wouldn't consume stamina, just like on Iguanodon. Its would be a decent swimmer as well, with no oxygen stat, but its temperature impulses don't work underwater. Be wary that unlike its cousin, Edapho isn't good for hatching eggs. At least not all of them. Since it can cause either extreme heat or cold, it might see some use in hatching Wvyern, Rock Drake or Magmasaurus eggs, but all the others probably won't be able to withstand such crazy temperature. Cosmetics On cosmetic side, I think it would be nice to see some sexual dimorphism, with males having bigger sails, and sail patterns differing between genders. If by any chance we could get some different variants of this creature, I could definitely see an aberrant one in Bioluminescent/Blue Chamber of Aberration, or an X variant in the Bog biome on Genesis. Maybe we could go as far as an R variant in Rockwells Corrupted Gardens on Genesis part 2... Conclusion If you liked my idea for this creature, please leave an upvote and if you have any other ideas of how to improve this critter, feel free to comment. I'd really like to know what other people think of how Edaphosaurus could be implemented in the game. Thanks for your time survivor!-

Common Name: Kairuku Species: Kairuku waitaki Time: Late Paleogene Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Friendly Wild: Kairuku Waitaki is an amazingly docile and friendly creature, to everything but fish. Honestly, I'm not quite sure how Kairuku manages to stay populated across the islands colder climates, with the many predators stalking these frozen lands. It is weak, and only one small defensive trait: suspended in Kairuku blubber are small, dense particles that act as a light form of armor. Adding to Kairuku's problems, a clever survivor discovered that refining Kairuku blubber (concentrating the particles in it) can yield a natural form of the same Polymer utilized in advanced tribes' manufacturing processes. This has caused many tribes to hunt Kairuku extensively, a practice colloquially known as "Kairu Clubbing". Domesticated: There is no reason to tame Kairuku for combat since they are useless in a fight. Still, Kairuku are regularly tamed for their cuteness and friendly nature, and the fact that their bodies run extremely hot. Just standing near Kairuku can help keep a survivor stay warm through long, harsh nights on the icebergs.-

Common Name: Dimetrodon Species: Dimetrodon calorector Time: Early Permian Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Reactive Wild: Dimetrodon Calorector is a much calmer predator than most on the island. Because it lives off smaller prey than humans, it generally ignores anything much larger than a Coelacanth. Dimetrodon is one of the few carnivores on the island that could be classified as reasonably friendly in the wild. The sail on Dimetrodon's back is a fascinating thing. It can be angled to provide shade from the sun, and allows Dimetrodon to disperse heat more quickly. The inner workings of the sail can also restrict blood flow in the creature to hold in excessive heat. Together, these two traits allow Dimetrodon to comfortably survive in any climate, though they are most commonly found in the swamplands which are rich in prey. Domesticated: If Dimetrodon was a bit larger, or didn't have that massive sail, it would make a decent mount. However, its main use to survivors is to utilize the sail's insulating capabilities. Just being near a Dimetrodon gives excellent protection from the heat and the cold, which has saved my life through more than one ice blizzard in the frozen mountains!-
