  1. Hello everyone!, I'm here to submit a submission for the new creature for The Center map, Hope you like the idea (art isn't made by me, the art was from a book I used to read a lot) Introducing the Protostega,The Living fabricator/raft, and the Underwater Healer. Protostega is an extinct genus of sea turtles containing only 1 species, Protostega Gigas, their name means "first roof" after it's carapace and plastron, they're found in the Smoky hill chalk formation in Kansas where they live 83 million years ago, they're the second biggest sea turtles we've known so far mostly overshadowed by their bigger cousin/the largest sea turtle the Archelon which you might have known is already in the Ark Addition mod, they will join the family of being another turtle after the carbonemys and being the only sea turtle if it gets added. Wild: Protostega Gigas is known to be the largest sea turtles and frankly the only sea turtle that exist in the Ark, their passive creature and unlikely to attack back even when you hit it however they will become aggressive at the sight of a jellyfish, their body are covered with strong keratin that not even the megalodon can bleed through or any arrows that can penetrate it, that to be said they're not entirely invincible, every now and then female Protostega go to shores to lay eggs and while there they can be easily spotted and because they're so slow on land, they can become an easy meal to any large or even medium carnivore, because of that they develop a way where they lay fewer eggs then normal sea turtles to reduce their time in the shores and even with that development the eggs can be easily stolen by small critters if they can find it, few who managed to survive still has to deal the sea environment from sharks, mantas, and other nasty creatures before they can become the giant creature they're destined to become. Taming process: Because of the hard keratin skin of an adult Protostega they can't be tamed the traditional way, instead people tame them by finding their nest and growing the baby themselves, the nest can be distinguished by a small hump in the shoreline that you can dig up to observe the eggs, however they're not some kind of tactic where you grab the egg,put it in a freezer and hatch it on home,no, the eggs are dependent by the temperature of their original place meaning grabbing one will near instantly spoil the egg, which also determined that once you finished digging up and observed the eggs is to put the sand back as fast as you can to avoid them spoiling, you need to wait for them to hatch however because you've dig up the location of the nest, expect oviraptor and pegos to try and steal the egg, of course you can make them run, kill them, or just put fences to stop them from reaching the eggs, however if you do put the fence it is likely that when the eggs hatch the baby will most likely to unable to get out until you remove the fences, oh and don't need to worry of waiting for days or even weeks guarding the egg and being a sitting duck in the beach by larger carnivores or other survivors, Protostega eggs are also known to hatch much quicker than most other creatures egg with their maximum amount of time before hatching is 1 week in the wild and minimum of less than a day. Once they hatch you can claim the baby turtle and successfully tame a baby Protostega. Tamed: While still a baby, you can put them on your back in the water until they're sub adults where they can carry you while swimming through the ocean faster without you yourself losing stamina(you need to wear a cloth to make this happen) basically acting like a jetpack in the ocean increasing your swim speed without doing anything yourself but it does use the protostega's stamina which means eventually you'll be the one that needs to swim until it regain all of its stamina, when fully grown they're the tank for the ocean, being immune to debuffs such as bleed and etc and take reduced damage to Ranged attacks, they can also work as a raft by combining your existing raft to its saddle hotbar, able to dive with it as well, they're an excellent bio toxin gatherer instantly killing jellyfish and small fish, but one of the main thing about Protostega is it's actual saddle, the saddle is unlocked the same level as the fabricator and for good reason, the saddle is basically a fabricator but a little bit different, unlike the normal fabricator, they're powered by bio toxin instead of gasoline, and that they themselves are able to fix gears faster than a normal fabricator but create gears from the fabricator slower, even after all that there's still something that needs to be noted. Like Normal Sea turtles you used to see outside the Ark they need oxygen and while they can hold their breath underwater for a very long period of time, eventually they will need to resurface and take a deep breath before they can dive another time. Considering the Protostega or in fact any creature that is being submitted will need to be both useful for PvP and PvE for them to be viable as a living creature, I've decided on the abilities and their passive abilities down below. I have tried my best to at least balance them out, which will be talked about more in the weakness category. passive abilities: We've talked about how it's passive of Instantly killing jellyfish and small fish at "Tamed", but let's talk about the others, first is its lack of use of stamina when fully grown, being able to swim long distances without even getting tired, similar to that of real sea turtles as some species have been known to swim crazy long distances when in nesting and feeding ground. The second is that weight from raft structures (storage box, large storage box, vault, etc) will not affect its speed, which is inspired by one of the barsboldia abilities from the Ragnarok creature vote. The third is their immunity/resistance to debuffs and ranged attacks, debuffs such as bleed, fear, etc can't affect the Protostega and ranged attacks from harpoon gun, turrets and others will have their damage reduced by 60%. The fourth and last passive ability is what I like to call "streamline". It's a passive ability that activate when you dive the Protostega to go deeper to the ocean in which they will perform a move similar to that of the griffin and the snow owl basically diving to reach the bottom faster and being able to use it for more speed when put upwards again but in the water, this also increase the agility of the Protostega able to turn in high speed until the streamline ended, however you can only do this if you're using it's saddle or the raft version with fewer structures, if too many structures are in the raft saddle it unfortunately can't perform the streamline ability, the streamline ability will last for 20 seconds and in those 20 seconds you will be able to perform 2 unique abilities that'll be talked about below. Abilities The first ability is what I like to call "master of the ocean", it's an ability creating a healing radius healing any nearby sea creatures/creatures in the water joining the daeodon and snow owl as a healer with their capability roughly the same as a daeodon but instead of consuming food, it consumes oxygen the longer it heals. The second is it's detection ability, can only be activated when in water, once its activated for a specific frequency it'll be able to show the exact location of artifacts around the waters you're in able to detect them from the artifacts waves of energy, you can also activate it at lower frequency than the other one where it'll be able to also detect electromagnetic waves from electrician such as a generator,an outlet, lights, etc excluding the industrial machine such as the fabricator. The third and last one is a move set only being able do when in the streamlined mode, the first move is a short boost to a location that you're looking at moving frontwards acting like a torpedo able to turn in a left or right direction, it will be able to deal damage to a target but takes a huge toll in stamina, the second one is the direct opposite, it's when the Protostega flap it flippers either frontwards or downward, frontwards is where it'll go to the opposite direction, basically going backward able to be used for evading attacks or just nope out of the location you were heading, while downward is when it boost itself to the surface, both when hitting on a target can temporarily stun them, or hitting on another Protostega it will stunned the other Protostega but also stun your Protostega, like the other one it also takes a huge toll in stamina and neither can be spammed. Control: The Protostega will be able to swim both upwards and downward while also being able to go left, right and backwards without turning, they'll also be able to turn to any direction while stationary. Resources: killing a Protostega will allow you to harvest it's corpse for a small amount of biotoxin from Cnidarians,Prime fish meat from small fish and their shell which when put into a grinder will be able to collect large amount of resources, however since the shell is even tougher than your normal resources, the chances the grinder malfunctioning, broken or even exploding while grinding the shell is a possibility you'll need to look out for. Usefulness: its main uses for PvP is to raid bases that are underwater, or detecting underwater bases from their electricians. Underwater bases are known to be harder to raid as the mobility in it are different and that you can't use land creatures as they will most likely drown before reaching the base itself, with that being said the Protostega acts as both the soaker of a raid and the healer for raids , for PvE they're great gatherer for bio toxin which can be made to shocking tranq darts to make Taming creatures much more easier and make it much more safer to explore the more vast ocean the map has to give while also being able to pinpoint the artifact location outside the cave while you yourself is getting the artifact. Weaknesses: of course with great power, a weakness have to be implemented to balance it out, I've said it once that the Protostega will have reduced damage to ranged attacks but not as much for close quarter attack such as bites and others, while the damage is still reduced at around 20%, they can still be overpowered as such by a mosasaur, packs of megalodons even if they don't bleed through it's skin or really anything that can get a good hit to it up close, they're also don't have reduced to damage to Tek gear and turrets and when use the healing ability, the more creatures it's healing the faster the oxygen decreases making you to be very careful with it if you don't want it to drown while healing the sea creatures and lastly is their detection ability, while they're able to 100% pinpoint the exact location of artifacts they can't exactly pinpoint electromagnetic fields from electricians, the detection can be easily fooled by some rock formations or even waves coming from the border of the map. Why I Choose the Protostega: Considering a giant portion of the center map consist of water I decided on a extinct sea turtle as my submission but because the most popular extinct sea turtle is already in a mod and because of that will be in my opinion really unnecessary to suggest an idea that will be already technically in the game,I need to become more creative and that's where I choose the protostega, being unironically reminded by them from the game Jurassic world the game, also the water in Ark especially the one with large oceans such as the center need some kind of way to make it more alive considering it's so empty when you look at it compared to its size so adding a sea creature in my opinions will at least add the ocean to be more….. filled.
  2. Polacanthus Common name: Polacanthus Species: Polacanthus pyrocaudus Time period: Early Cretaceous Temperament: Defensive Diet: Herbivore Custom dossier coming soon! Vote started earlier than the previous ones, so for now here's a render of Polacanthus from the hit dinosaur documentary Walking With Dinosaurs General gameplay concept: A medium sized armored herbivore, the Polacanthus is a tame with surprising utility. Its primary attack is a tail swipe that behaves similarly to the Stegosaurus’, hitting behind it and to whatever side the camera is currently facing. This attack does moderate amounts of damage and repeatedly using it ramps up the speed at which it swings its tail. Polacanthus’ secondary attack is a heavier tail swing that drags across the ground and spins the Polacanthus 180 degrees around, dealing heavy damage to whatever it hits. Both attacks are useful for fragmenting flint from rocks, and gather it at a 2:1 ratio with stone. A very useful trait for creating sparkpowder, especially since the Polacanthus’ saddle acts as a mortar and pestle with the same crafting efficiency (though not speed) as a chemistry bench. In a pinch they can also harvest small amounts of wood and thatch, though here Polacanthus pale in comparison to more dedicated gatherers. However, that is not to say you have no reason to chop down trees with your mount... A Polacanthus’ tail spikes are coated in a flammable oil that, while too limited in supply to harvest as a resource in large numbers, can be ignited with a little help from sparkpowder. By hitting ctrl, the Polacanthus can swap between a main “gathering” stance and a secondary “ignition” stance. In this state, Polacanthus will use up sparkpowder in their inventory when attacking (the exact amount depends on the attack used) to ignite their tails and set fire to whatever they hit. When they strike a tree in this stance, they instead gather charcoal straight from the tree, with no need to burn it afterwards. Combined with its crafting saddle and the normal stance’s proficiency in making sparkpowder, the Polacanthus can drastically speed up a tribe’s gunpowder production. Likewise, this ignition state also alters the functionality of its main two attacks. The primary tail swipe now has an additional fire DoT effect. A single hit will only last for a second or so, but repeated hits will increase the duration of the effect, increase its initial damage, and refresh it with each blow. Each attack uses up 1 sparkpowder. The secondary turnaround attack now sends out a highly-damaging short ranged burst of flame, which automatically catches anything it hits on fire and starts off the enflamed DoT effect with a duration equivalent to five primary attacks. This attack uses up 10 sparkpowder. Defensively, Polacanthus takes only 2/3rd’s damage from behind, incentivizing usage of the secondary attack to orient itself away from attacks. Polacanthus’ oil-coated spines and plates act as a sort of reactive armor, splintering the outermost layer to damage anything standing nearby and make them more susceptible to damage for a limited time (this includes bosses and even non-tek structures). This is activated once the Polacanthus has taken a certain number of hits over a short timespan, meaning that this is extra useful when attacked by packs of creatures or being shot at by a high fire rate weapon. Taming Ideas and Wild behavior: Wild Polacanthus are somewhat traditional knockout tames, but with a slight twist. They receive only a quarter of the torpor from tranq arrows and darts, but in turn are especially susceptible to other forms of torpor delivery. Clubs, electric prods, scorpion stings, Equus kicks, and more are the way to go when knocking one out. Stats, Attacks, and Misc. Size: About halfway between the Ankylosaurus and Stegosaurus Speed: About equal with the Morellatops just so moving around isn’t so obnoxious. Health: Moderate to high, maybe 650 or so. Primary, LMB attack: Tail swipe similar to the Stegosaurus Secondary, RMB attack: Heavy tail swing that rotates the Polacanthus 180 degrees Tertiary ability, R key: Toggle between normal and ignition states https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polacanthus
  3. (big rideable glow pet) Introducing Kosmoceratops, the Starlight Ceratopsian! Tags: herbivore, ceratopsian, flashbang, support, healer, soaker, seeker allies, armor reduction Credit to Nix Illustration for Design Common Name: Kosmoceratops Species: Kosmoceratops lumitaurus Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: “It’s astonishing how well adapted some of the creatures in these caverns are. Kosmoceratops lumitaurus is the largest creature I’ve discovered thus far that produces that intense bioluminescent charge that keeps Nameless at bay… and attracts a private army of Chimaeram. Great… Whether it be dominance, ego, or just plain fun, these ceratopsians challenge not only other Kosmoceratops, but other threatening species as well, including survivors! They bow down in respect to those who can best them in a one-on-one spar. Any lunatics out there might be able to use this to their advantage.” Domesticated: “After gaining the respect of this starlight behemoth, survivors may find a variety of uses for them. They have a notable amount of durability thanks to their head armor, and they possess a glowing, corrosive saliva that melts through armor thanks to the plants it consumes. I think I’ll not have what they’re having, thank you. A large dinosaur that emits charge that repels Nameless and is immune to high concentrations of radiation makes it an excellent mount to traverse the lower reaches of these caverns. Introduction: Greetings, survivors! I introduce to you the flashbang bastion; the Kosmoceratops! The foundational ideas and selling points for this dinosaur include: Role as a mid-game support that can be used in endgame PvP Rideable glow pet Radiation and plant z immunity Ability to heal allies and blind enemies Ability to corrode and highlight enemies with bite attacks I personally think Kosmoceratops, or at the very least this concept, should be added to the game due to an oversaturation of apex predators in the PvP metagame as well as expanding upon one of the most unique (and one of my personal favorite) maps in the game. Ceratopsians in general need a little more love than just Triceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus. Adding this behemoth would help spice the meta up and give people more reason to play on ARK: Aberration. Wild: Kosmoceratops live in the malfunctioning ARK’s bio-luminescent marshlands and molten element canyons, being the only large herbivore found in the latter zone. They can spawn on their own or in herds of up to three members. They are naturally territorial, and will tend to gang up on large carnivores that pose a threat to them. Kosmoceratops tend to be more aggressive in these herds, so it is highly advised to avoid them whenever possible. While on their own they are still a force to be reckoned with, they behave in a slightly different manner… Like glow pets, Kosmoceratops produce a constant aura of charge which can repel Nameless and attract Seekers. Seekers aren’t naturally hostile towards these dinosaurs, respecting them as a source of food, and will typically assist them in combat. When low on health, the ceratopsian can emit a blinding light from its frill and horns to disorient threats before speeding away. Taming Process: To be tamed, this dinosaur must be separate from any herd or any Seekers. Having aggroed the herd prior won’t trigger the process. Once isolated, the process will begin when the Kosmoceratops performs an animation, blinking its frill lights and kicking up the dirt. The dinosaur is challenging you to a one-on-one spar. The frill constantly pulsating light faintly is a sign the Kosmo is undergoing the taming process. If any other creature or survivor interferes, regardless of friend or foe, the taming bar will return to 0. After dealing 75% of the dinosaur’s total health in the battle, it will bow down in exhaustion. Step forward and claim your reward. Tamed: Congratulations! You’ve successfully tamed a Kosmoceratops! Now with this bioluminescent barbarian in your hands, life in the caverns of the aberrant ARK should be much more convenient. Actions: Primary Attack (, , ): Click: A sweeping head attack with noticeable knockback. The Kosmoceratops can turn 180-degrees if looking backward. Hold: A charged bite attack that increases in damage the longer it is held. This bite leaves a unique status induced by the dinosaur’s saliva, which corrodes its way through health, armor, and even metal structures. The saliva itself is also bioluminescent, highlighting bitten enemies with a bright light that friends and foes can see. The duration of this status also scales with the attack’s wind up time. Secondary Attack (, , ): The range of this move scales with Charge Range / Melee Damage. Click: A violent flash of light erupts from the dinosaur’s frill, inducing the same effect as plant z fruit. This requires a large amount of charge to use. Hold: The ceratopsian’s light creates an aura of healing in front of itself, acting like the animal equivalent of a plant z. It heals at around the same rate, though drains charge fast. Taunting Roar (Click C, , ): The Kosmoceratops’s roar taunts wild and tamed creatures like a Magmasaur. However, its own defenses and damage are increased. Crouch (Press Space, , ): The Kosmoceratops hunkers down into a defensive state, taking significantly reduced damage at the cost of not being able to attack or move much at all. Passive Abilities: Charge Light: Kosmoceratops essentially operates like a giant, rideable glow pet! Much like the Bulbdog and its peers, Kosmoceratops’ stats also upgrade its charge light capabilities. Stamina correlates with Charge Capacity, Oxygen with Charge Regeneration, and Melee Damage with Charge Range. You can activate the charge light while mounted in the same way lifesteal can be enabled while riding a Desmodus. Batteries can also be charged within the dino’s inventory like a charge station, though at a slower rate. Seeker Symbiosis: Seekers will gather around Kosmoceratops, but won’t attack them or their rider. They instead become allies, attacking threats that get too close to their food source. Damage-to-Head Reduction: Like the Triceratops, the Kosmoceratops possesses damage reduction on its head, though not as effective. Gathering: Kosmoceratops can gather berries and minerals fairly well with its bite. However, it is most proficient at gathering element ore, and one of the best tools to mine the resource. Immunities: Kosmoceratops are immune to the effects of radiation and plant z fruits. Turn in Place: While not moving, a Kosmoceratops can turn to the direction the rider is facing similarly to Spinosaurus. Utility & Scenarios: PvE: Kosmoceratops are great for traversing the caverns of the aberrant ARK, though lacking a solid turn while sprinting. Riders can wander on Kosmo back to farm for rare materials in the lower reaches of the blue and red zones with their radiation immunity and charge light. Reapers and Nameless are repelled by their light, and Seekers are attracted to it, though becoming temporary allies with the dinosaur and their rider. Kosmoceratops are one of the best ways to retrieve Rock Drake eggs early on before getting replaced by Rock Drakes themselves for that niche. PvP: This ceratopsian is designed as a support class along with the likes of Daeodons, Yutyrannus, and Snow Owls. They aren’t very good at dealing a lot of damage, and they are far from the tankiest creature in the game. By blinding, highlighting, and taunting enemies and healing allies, the Kosmoceratops provides essential aid that could bring favor to a matchup, even if the dinosaur itself isn’t directly fighting. It also acts as a good soaker with the damage reduction it gets from its taunt, crouch, and head armor. Chargelight invalidates the presence of Reapers, removing more danger from potential confrontations. The lack of damage output is their greatest weakness, not being nearly as strong as other creatures of its size class. It lacks the tools to completely defend its blindspots, especially from faster tames like Deinonychus, Thylacoleos, and fliers. Conclusion: Outside of the obvious Triceratops comparisons, Kosmoceratops lacks much overlap in terms of utility and niche in a tribe’s roster. A very complex and strong creature, but balanced out by notable weaknesses that ensure it doesn’t usurp other dinos. It has been a while since we’ve gotten a creature designed to be a support in PvP, so I hope this works out for that niche! Have fun, survivors! References (Accurate & Inaccurate):
  4. Megalochelys: Info Name: Megalochelys' Diet: Herbivore Aggresion: Docile Timeperiod: Late Miocene-middle plesitocene Taming: Passive Megalochelys (great turtle) is one off the biggest tortoises that have existed. Turtles/tortoises is my favorite type off animal and as much as I like the carbonemys it feels like it can be done something more with a turtle tame. Dossier: Wild: The Megalochelys is a huge and heavly armourd creature and don`t realy seem to notice or care about the predators around it. It spends most off it`s days wandring in look for food and water in the harsh desert landskape it inhabit. Even tho it`s behavior might seem to indicate that the Megalochelys is to passive or oblivius to fight back this could not be further from the truth. In the rare occasions where this behemoth actualy feels threatened it will charge into battle using it`s huge weight to crush it`s opponent and in this instant thats not a figure off speech. Contrary to it`s weight and size Megalochelys can pick up incredeble speed.. well for a tortoise atlest. Domesticated: The tribes I have meet that have been abel to domesticate one off these behemoth has found a lot off ways to make use off it`s abillites. Plenty off tribes use Megalochelys as a beast off burden as it`s defensive nature attracts few if any predators. And in the case of a ambush from another tribe they have thougt Megalochelys to simply shut it`s shell close to keep all tools and materials safe. These tribes usly need to find ways to bye pass most water ways as like other tortoises Megalochelys aren`t effective swimmer. But this is far from the most bizzare people have done. Some people thought the best way to utilize it was to strap weapons to it`s shell. I even whitnessed a tribe who straped flamethrowers and rocket launchers. While as silly as straping a gun to a turtle`s shell the results don`t lie. These armed tesudins have became quite popular as seige beasts among certian tribes and feard amoungst there enemies. In game: Megalochelys is gona be the ultimate soaker/tank. Simular to the the carbonemys and other armoured creatures the Megalochelys`s heavy shell reduces incoming damge, but its legs are coverd in large hard scales that also reducses incoming damage ( less damage reduction than the shell). Pretty much only it`s head, neck and tail is not armoured. It will pretty much be a bigger, stronger and more defensive carbonemys. Movment: *Megalochelys is slow and heavy but can pick up speed when sprinting (moves faster and faster simular to rhino and dire bear but decently slower) *It can turn in place. *It is to heavy to swim but it has plenty off oxygen for itself and the rider. Walks along the bottom. *In return off beeing so heavy it can`t be knocked around or picked up exept for the rhyniognatha. Abiliets. *Bite: turtle go chomp. Decent damage *Snapper: the Megalochelys tucks in it`s head and charges up a attack where it shoots out it head in a fast motion and chomps down on it`s target. The longer you charge The more powerfull the attack. smaller creatures (including humans) will get traped in Megalochelys`s jaws where they can be carried around. *Block out: The Megalochelys tucks its head in and shouts it`s shell almost completly closed (only it`s legs sticks out) this increases it`s damgae reduction for incoming damgae including elemental damge like fire. This also protect the rider from whether and enviormental effeckts. I imagen the saddle is placed on it`s neck or in the front opning off the shell so when it closes the survivor is protected within. The Megalochelys can while slowly walk around in this state but it will drain it`s stamina over time. *Lock up: Hold e and a option to lock up will appear this result in the Megalochelys going into it`s shell. This result in it taking no damage but it won`t move or fight back against anything until it`s called back out. This also works as a safe way for it to regenerate it`s healt back up or keeping imortant items safe. *Belly flopp: Megalochelys uses it`s front legg to push up and it`s hind legs to push itself forward to slam it`s heavy body forward, this is a powerfull but slow attack. *Saddle: While Megalochelys is rideable without a saddle equiping it alows you to equip it with some extra fire power. Equipable tool/objects: *Cannon *Flamethrower *Rocket launcher *tek grenade launcher (maby more) No addition rider needed all weapons can be controled from the seat. Place ammo for the equiped weapon in Megalochelys`s inventory and the weapons will automaticly be loaded. Ammo like cannonballs, spear bolts and the likes get a weight reduction. Taming: When you find one you need to use rare flowers to get it`s attention then pretty much talk it for a walk while occasionally feeding it requested items like crops, berries, rare flower or mushroom. If you or it take to much damage the taming progress wil reset so keep an open eye for aggresive dinos. anyway thats my idea so far hope you liked it. Hope you consider give this a vote and help me get this bueatyfull creature into the game. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
  5. Ragnorok to me has always been a really big PVP map, so I thought why not try to introduce another turtle-like creature that would give Carbonemys a little friend and try and saitiate the hunger that PVP players have for their shields. Thus the HENODUS Arks first ever weildable creature. Henodus was a Placodont lived in and around the shallow, brackish lagoons of Europe during the late Triassic period, around 228 million to 200 million years ago. It was herbivorous though has also been thought of as a filter-feeder, and would allow survivors to take on each other and provide another option in between tek shields and riot shields. WILD In the wild, survivors can find Henodus in the lagoons of Ragnarok; it likes to float around the bottom of these lagoons and look for any kind of plant matter it can scrape off and chew with its odd mouth. They are relatively docile creatures but will fight back before trying to make a hasty exit. Unfortunately, Megalodons, the Basilosaurs, and some carnivorous land creatures find these little Placodonts irresistible. The Henodus does try to fight back and, if in a group, can possibly take down a Megalodon, but will end up as an empty shell if left to a group of hungry Megalodons. They have been seen to travel out of their watery homes to try and lay eggs and bask in the warm sunlight, but then become prey to all the large carnivores that would like to get to their nutritious heno meat. TAMING PROCESS Certain survivors and tribes, especially those that live around the coasts of these lagoons that Henodus calls home, have had luck taming these little masochistic Placodonts. They say that if you go out and protect these little guys, they become fanatics of those that are helping them. They will swim around and follow the survivors like little water puppies until they finally find enough solace with the carnage the survivors inflict on those who wish to take a bite out of the tough Henodus shell and will then allow their saviors to pick them up. TAMED Once tamed, survivors have said that the Henodus likes to ride about on the backs of the ones that saved it but, given the command, will switch to their savior's arm to act as the shield for the ones that shielded them. Tribes have noticed that the shells of the Henodus are pretty sturdy to damage and can withstand taking barrages of bullets by having them deflect off the odd shape of their carapace. Their Henodus does not seem all too bothered by the impacts though enough sustained damage will eventually cause the Henodus to succumb to the damage inflicted. Survivors have also been seen having sword duels while using their specific Henodus as their shield during the fight and will bash into one another, stunning each other from round to round. Though for those tribes that do not wish to inflict pain on their little water friends, instead allow their Henodus to protect and reflect any damage from other survivors on their backside, allowing them to have a better chance of being able to then turn about and destroy those that dare harm their Henodus. OTHER Tribes that tamed and bred some Henodus have noticed that specific mutations allow for hardier carapaces that allow their little living shields more damage resistance and better overall durability before they need a rest to certain weapons and damage types, along with one tribe that had found a mutation that turned their Henodus into bright red living shields that inflicted fear among those that opposed them. Certain tribes that have tamed wyverns have also found that mutated Henodus had become more protected from the elemental attacks of their wyverns and became very important when fending off those attacks from other wyverns. Since no specific tame has ever operated like this, this will be a quick summary of what I just typed. Henodus is what I would call your very own customizable shield that your survivors can use to run turrets of others and fight hand to hand; it would be an in-between, most likely between tek shields and riots. Lower level/mutated Henodus could be all over the shield line, from wooden to possibly tek. They would work similarly to Sinomacrops; when you press the corresponding button, they would essentially flip from being a shoulder mount to your offhand and possibly have a bash attack that you could perform to stun particular smaller creatures and players. They would show up in first person just like standard shields but with their little head and eyes looking right at you as you use them to fend off bullets. When on your survivor's back, you would be shielded from bullets and damage that others might try and snipe you from the back. They are just shielding your back. You can also breed these little buggers to make them hardier to specific kinds of damage, like making them better at reducing melee damage but taking more damage from bullets and vice versa. While also able to do other general mutations for colors, health, and the like. So given enough mutations, you could have a Henodus shield that could soak hundreds or maybe a thousand bullets and protect any attack from the back or possibly even be able to withstand Rhyniognatha resin, Wyvern attacks, or Reaper attacks. On a final note, I want these guys to be little battle buddies and rewarding for PVP players that put the time in caring for and customizing their Henodus, so while not being ridable, hopefully their range of shielding capabilities makes up for them. Also I do not own the photos of Henodus, but they are pretty cool. Please give your own feed back, and try suggesting more things that could be cool for the Henodus.
