The Titanoboa is an extinct snake of the boida family that inhabited South America 60 to 58 million years ago, during the Paleocene1234. It is the largest known snake in history, with a body that reached up to 15 meters in length and 1.2 tons in weight35. The Titanoboa cerrejonensis, as it is scientifically known, lived in lakes and behaved like an anaconda, moving easily both in the flow of rivers and in swamps3. He ate everything, including crocodiles and anacondas2. Titanoboa fossils were first discovered in the coal mines of La Guajira, Colombia, in 2009.

Wild. The Titanaboa Armatis, more commonly known as the Scutumna (Scue-tum-na) is quite the interesting creature; From what I can tell, it seems to be a Titanaboa with a case of gigantism and other various genetic mutations. It most notably is covered almost entirely in thick segmented rings of chitin topped with equally durable fins/plates making it a biological fortress; meaning only creatures with a strong enough bite or stomp could stand a chance at causing it substantial harm. It is also incredibly long, with most specimens measuring in at about 60 meters (approximately 200ft) in length; making it one of the longest creatures I've ever seen in my days. This creature whilst being nearly invulnerable to most threats doesn't have many offensive capabilities. Possessing no unique combat abilities, a bite force shockingly weak for a carnivore of its size and possessing no lethal or narcotic based poisons/toxins; meaning it primarily hunts smaller creatures with the largest I've seen it go after being a trike. I've also seen this creature chewing on raw metal deposits in the sunken forest which seems to bring it satisfaction as well as cause an odd glow on its fins/plates to appear. Tamed. Due to the plates of the Scutumna a saddle cannot be dawned; however, as luck would have it one can gain enough grip on its head to ride this creature and its natural armor seems to provide enough protection. To tame a Scutumna one must be truly brave by throwing metal ore into its mouth whilst it is feasting on its prey. When tamed it proves to be a defensive powerhouse and act as a living barricade against other creatures. Due to its segmented armor and flexible body, it can take many shapes such as a linear line, ring, and semi-circle once it enters its defensive stance; however, once in this state it becomes incapable of moving or attacking until its master orders it to exit this stance. I've seen survivors use Scutumna to great effect to defend OSDs and Element veins, using them as quickly set up barriers to defend such Highly valuable targets. When used as a barrier the smallest creature that can step over it seems to be the diplodocus; however, there are countermeasures for when large corrupted creatures such as the corrupted tyrannosaurus rex attempt to step over it. By feeding a Scutumna metal ore whilst it's in its defensive stance, the plates on its back will begin to glow, creating a magnetic field that will slow down corrupted creatures that attempt to pass over it; whilst in this state, it also becomes impervious to being bled or lit on fire. @Syntac: If this creature ends up getting to the finals and you end up seeing this, I want to say thank you. I've been watching you since I was 10, you got me into ark and survival games in general and taught me that Irish people exist. Thank you.

REAL LIFE FACTS; Not much is known about the Rukwanyoka holomani, but this guy is believed to be the ancestor to modern-day Cobras, Mambas, and other African colubroids, or venemous snakes. We don’t even have an accurate representation of it’s size, but we do believe it went extinct around 33 million years ago and was much more active than the more traditional Constrictor snakes of the time period. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/03/140320101515.htm IN-GAME IMPLEMENTATION- Design; My idea for the design of the Rukwan would be to base it on modern Cobras, but with the creative flair of an ancient desert creature. Size could be as large as we want, but I think anything bigger than a Basilisk would be too extreme. I would want it large enough to be ridable however, maybe placing the saddle on the hood. Abilities; Venemous Bite. As a Colubroid, the Rukwan would have a venomous bite. This effect could take place as a bleed effect, a stamina drain, Torpor damage, or any combination of the 3. Lunge Strike. Similar to modern Cobras and Mambas, the Rukwan would be able to charge up a lunge attack that would fling itself and the rider forward a large distance, taking up large amounts of stamina but also providing a temporary latching-on effect to larger Dinos where it unleashed large amounts of venom, causing its venomous bite effects to be stronger at the cost of higher vulnerability. Tail Attack. This one doesn’t have any snake-like basis, but it should be able to flick its tail around to deal damage as well like a whip. Maybe this attack is locked to when it’s latched on to something bigger, maybe not. Speed. Taking something from Mambas this time, this should be a fast creature. The Black Mamba can move up to 12 mph (19 kmph) on land. As a larger snake the Rukwan should be a speedy critter, gliding across the sand and closing the distance quickly. Spitting? Cobras in Africa have managed to evolve the ability to spit their venom at their enemies, blinding them and allowing for a quick getaway. Sure the Basilisk and Dilo can do the same thing but it is a possibility as a better Dilo attack, maybe imparting lesser Venom effects onto those struck. Antivenom. (Credit to Helianthus in the Comments) The Rukwan, when tamed, gradually produces a small amount of either Biotoxin or it’s own Rukwan Venom (which maybe could be used similarly to Biotoxin), not too dissimilar to the way the Basilosaurus produces Oil. In addition to adding ways for Biotoxin (or something similar) to be added into Scorched Earth, you can combine the substance with Sparkpowder and Blood Packs in the Chemistry Bench to create an Antivenom (recipe just an idea since actual Antivenom is made in a rather different method, this is just as close as I could think of). Unlike the Antidote, which heals illnesses, this Antivenom grants temporary resistance to the Poison attacks made by the Manticore and Poison Wyverns, in addition to general Torpor damage. This would not completely eliminate the effects, but it would reduce them to allow you to continue fighting through multiple barrages. However, the Rukwan would be immune to these attacks by default, as the source of the Biotoxin/Venom necessary to make the Antivenom. HABITAT; I would see this creature probably being found in caves and either the dunes or the lands near the dunes. Many Cobras live in mountains and scrublands, while Mambas live in savanahs and rocky hills, so the Rukwan could definitely survive in Scorched Earth, and due to the Dunes being the big danger zone this creature could be in or near there. Same logic applies to the caves, since Cobras can live in animal burrows at times. That is all for now, might try and add more info later such as drawings or more info after I am able to research more.

The burrowing rattlesnake is one of the smaller snakes in the desert but don't let that fool you. It is to supposed to be an early game base protector that provides biotoxin. Species: Crotalus Sp. Time: Miocene Diet: carnivore Temperament: defencive Wild The burrowing rattlesnake is one smallest but deadliest predetors i have encountered on my journey through the desert. Although it prefers to eat smaller desert creatures it is not scared to go after humans if they ignore it's warnings. Just like all other rattlesnake species they have a rattle to scare of potential predators. Unlike other rattlesnake species, these snakes can burrow. They do this to ambush their prey and hide from desert storms, a very usefull technique in this harsh environment. Speaking of prey, they love to eat jerboa which they catch by pouncing at them from their burrow and quickly taking them down with their deadly venom. Taming Taming these snakes isnt easy. their abillity to borrow makes them hard to spot and their abillity to pounce at enemies makes it a dangerous job. Because of their venom this snakes are almost immune to any other venom or poison rendering most tranquillizers ineffective. Luckily for the tamers they are very weak to a good whack on the head making a boomerang or a club a usefull tool for taming. Domesticated Although not easy to get your hands on once tamed these snakes can be used in varius ways. Their abillity to borrow and pounce can be used to make traps around your base. their defencive temperament combined with their rattle allows them to be used as warning system against intruders. but all of these uses are nothing compared to their real strength, their venom. The venom has the same effects on larger creatures as biotoxin, a resource that i havent found elsewhere in the desert. Although the snakes dont seem to like it, they can be milked for their venom which can then be made into tranquillizers. stats and uses and other thing i wanted to say The burrowing rattlesnake is a small creature that can be tamed from the start of the game. Tamed snakes can be borrowed around your base and set to use different abillities. Their rattle can be used as a tripwire alarm or they can be used as traps where they jump at an enemy, biting them and potentially knocking them out. Yes, this is just a normal knockout tame as passive taming a early game creature like a snake doesnt feel right. Unlike most small early game creatures these snakes have a use lategame as they provide biotoxin, something that isnt available on scorched earth and that makes them usefull for high level players as shocking tranq darts are very usefull for endgame tames. The snakes are supposed to be fairly weak creatures with low health and low torpor so they can be killed quite easilly by throwing spears or shooting them with arrows. Because they are immune to tranq arrows and tranq darts their torpor cant be too high as clubs and boomerangs deal very low amounts of torpor damage. The idea with them is that their melee damage is very low but their torpor damage very high just like Eurypterid. Rattlesnakes are a creature that would fit very well in the scorched earth desert. Because all snakes in ark are very big it would be cool to have a small snake species in the game. I wasn't able to find the name of a extinct rattlesnake species and i am horrible at naming so the scientific name needs to be changed.

From the album: Dossiers
Common Name: Titanoboa Species: Titanoboa exornantur Time: Paleocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Found in the swamps and the dark caves of the island, Titanoboa exornantur is an aggressive creature that prefers cold dark rocky areas. This extremely large snake, while being a member of theTitanoboa family, does not constrict its prey as most boas do. This adaption may come from coexisting with giant insects. Being immune to knockout poisons, and being unable to pierce the thick chitin of the insects, the species have learned to coexist. They often even hunt large prey together. Titanoboahas developed a strange coexistence with the other creatures of the island's caves. Domesticated: As they appear immune to knockout poisons, Titanoboa exornantur is basically impossible to render unconscious. Because this crucial step can't be done, taming this can be a challenge!
