My submission for the next Ark vote is Titanoceratops scutigerulus, a massive powerhouse of a ceratopsian capable of easily destroying defenses, breaking through metal dino gates like a battering ram, ignoring all placed traps, and fighting off Ark’s deadliest theropod the Giga. Through a labor of love I’ve designed not just a dossier but actual in game quality concept art for this animal. Abilities: It’s main two damage abilities are dealing high amounts of damage to both creatures of higher drag weight (scaling up as the drag weight scales) and dealing high damage to gates and doors up to metal behemoth gates. The trade off for dealing damage to metal is that it must consume raw metal (around 5 to 10 metal per 5 seconds, it allows for a 30 second window to damage metal and has a cool down that lasts for around a minute) through a stance change that makes it slower as a trade off similar to the Magmasaurs’s smelting ability minus the smelting. While it does mediocre damage to metal structures in this state it does high amounts of damage to doors and dino gates making it effectively a battering ram. As for it’s Giga slaying abilities, it will be able to resist it’s gnash and deal higher damage to it than other creatures due to it’s increased drag weight damage. It’s also particularly well protected from the front having a high damage resistance to both it’s frill and legs, this paired with the anti bleed effect and high health make it a great defense against Ark’s largest and deadliest theropod. It’s other prime function is acting as a tower shield for large dinos up to the height of a rex, it’s great for effectively tanking huge amounts of bullets and explosives with little damage. In addition when multiple Titanoceratops are near they gain a herd buff that increases the damage resistance and gives a buff to nearby saddleless dinos, it however does not effect dinos with natural armor like the Reaper and Shadowmane. It can also pivot in place similar to a Rock Golem allowing it to defend against attackers from any angle. Other major abilities of the Titanoceratops are the resistance to all placed traps such as bear traps or spike walls, explosives placed on the ground also deal less damage to it. When the herd bonus is active the eyespots on it’s frill appear and light up similar to the plate change on the TLC Stego. The rider sits on a saddle latched onto the back of it’s frill allowing for a high vantage point across the battlefield (I’m still toying with the concept of adding a second rider on it’s back as a protective gunner). As for gathering it’s a fairly basic gatherer of wood, thatch, and berries but has a very high weight and health making it a good safe pack animal. The specific attacks are a horn swing that does a high amount of damage, a “stance change” that transitions it into it’s metal damaging mode, and a short ram attack that thrusts the animal forward for a high knock back attack good for pushing away enemies and damaging doors. Wild: Titanoceratops can be found around mountainous regions usually around high concentrations of metal either alone or in a small group, they are fairly peaceful unless provoked or attack similar to Dire Bears. They can easily contend with many of the region’s predators like rexes and sabertooths although they are ignored by most small predators. They will ignore you while wearing ghillie however they will become aggressive if approached too closely. In the wild they also cannot damage metal but can damage stone structures. Taming: In order to tame a Titanoceratops you need either a catapult or cannon to knock it out, likely on the back of a Paracer or placed in a trap. They’re not difficult to kite as they’re not very fast so that can be a good and less expensive option but for those looking for a trap they need to use metal structures, bear traps are ill advised as they essentially destroy them while walking over them and completely ignore it’s effects. As for taming food you will need Exceptional kibble or various crops and berries, they need a lot of food and Narcotic so pack a fair bit as this tame can wake up fairly quickly. Once tamed they will act as a beast of burden, a powerful siege beast and living battering ram, a counter to various large creatures including Gigas, and potentially a boss fighter. Weaknesses: While the Titanoceratops is exceptionally powerful it has it’s drawbacks, it can only fit through behemoth gates as it’s size is on par with a rex or mammoth. It’s particularly slow and while it can turn in place it still can’t out turn the faster mounts like raptors, in addition it’s a very slow swimmer and is not advisable to use around wet environments. It’s backside is also fairly unprotected, even with a saddle hitting it from behind will deal massive amounts of damage to it. It’s also very vulnerable from above and can be taken out by fliers with ease. The rider perched on the high saddle is vulnerable to being grabbed by fliers and to sniper fire, being a particularly easy target. It’s also fairly weak to fire weapons, flamethrowers, fire arrows, wyverns, and fire pitch catapults will deal lots of damage to the creature more so than others. Final Notes: I wanted the Titanoceratops to fill the niche other ceratopsians in Ark should have filled, Trikes and Pachyrhinos are particularly weak in game and it bothers me that such powerful animals are ignored in favor of carnivores. I wanted a ceratopsian that could defeat carnivores without breaking a sweat and being large powerhouses players would use late game. These animals in real life were strong enough to fight off tyrannosaurs and were true spectacles of both raw power and incredible diversity, they were truly the most impressive ornithischians to have existed. I also wanted to suggest a powerful and impressive creature that people would enjoy, something both striking and utterly massive. It was also a chance to flex my art skills at designing an Ark creature with both accurate anatomy and the signature Ark style. I have talked in the past about possibly applying for a job at Wildcard as a creature concept artist and wanted to prove to myself that I was able to design something both devs and players would enjoy, I do not think I will apply as I still have a lot of learning to do however this experience has been quite a trip and I am happy that I got to share my labor of love with this wonderful and creative community. INTRODUCTION: Ok remember the days when the dragon was the best thing ever well I hope to relive that feeling with the armored dragon since the early days I've wanted a bomber jet like creature. So here's the idea it's a high fantasy style dragon the inspiration was the original dragon but with iron/steel armor plates. To give this beast a regal and formidable stance on the battlefield. If you have any ideas to add I'd love to hear them let's get us a true dragon! APPEARANCE: The lindeyrm is a large Flying draconian slightly larger than a wyvern covered in thick, heavy metal scales with a silver, bronze, or slate sheen. It has glowing blue eyes a slender body and a large wingspan. Its underside is lined with arrow shaped scales. The drake can enter a "berserker" state if encountered by a wyvern, causing the gaps between its scales to glow BEHAVIOR: WILD: in the wild this beast could be found flying high above the ground alot like a guetz. This beast would dive bomb from the sky either crashing into the ground causing a elemental knockback or if landing on anything the size of a rex or smaller will do a (raptor like) pounce pinning it's target. If not dive-bombing they travel the World in search of prey. It scatters explosive that change elements based on what it's eaten as ammunition scales over a wide area to prey on whatever gets caught in the blast (think carpet bombing) They will be easily found near sulfur or gem deposits due to this being how they use their bombing abilities. Destroying and harvesting it before taking to the sky in search of food.
  3. common name: Archaeoindris species: Archaeoindris fontoynonti age: holocene temperament: decisive Elena's diary: I know that in the ark there is a great chance of finding a great variety of extinct phauma but it never crossed my mind the archaeoindris, larger as is to be expected in ark creatures but now I can study how they lived, their kinship with gorillas and sloths. with the gorillas and sloths of central South America, unlike the lemurs I knew, small, slippery and their funny way of fighting of who smells like the archaeoindris imposes respect with its size and violence if necessary. despite being a hervibore he will occasionally eat insects because like all lemurs indris loves his hygiene more than I do mine and uses some insects as repellent. apparently this giant lemur is unique because it is clumsy to climb great heights, I guess because of its large size and its evolution to adapt on land. but i've seen some archaeoindris manage to jump from tree to tree without the need to climb, not forgetting that they have very strong legs, like all lemurs, and that they have very strong legs. as all the lemurs and they move with small jumps. you will normally find groups of archaeoindris of 1 male and several females in jungle or forest biomes, if you come across a group of them the male is usually decisive. if he sees you as a threat or nuisance he will not hesitate to attack you to protect the females as they are excellent wet nurses for his species. besides these lemurs have a gripping force that causes instant death from what i have been told (look on the bright side, only the male is the only one that will attack you) but if you stand still without looking him in the eyes he will allow you to walk through his territory, apparently it is a kind of respect between them. (I don't recommend you try to put him to sleep with narcotic arrows because by ingesting a lot of insects they have developed immunity to any kind of narcotic. tamed: apparently only the males are the first to take the step to be tamed because if you try to tame a female she will ignore you as she only obeys her male. Once the archaeoindris has allowed you to be close to his group, very carefully approach him and offer him dung beetle carcasses, he will take them and rub his body with them, enjoying it and thanking you. once you tame him, the group of females that are with him will attack him as they no longer recognize him. the group of females that are with him will attack him because they will no longer recognize him as the male of the group. to tame the females you have to arrive with another group of archaeoindris and kill their male with your archaeoindris, by doing so you will not get 1 tamed female, but more than 2! (watch out when you have that duel the other male will have a 30% damage reduction buff). apparently in this ark there was a cell of Gaius Nerva's legion that made a small army of archeoindris, I can tell by the armored mount they made and the flag (fortunately I got the blueprint of it), who would say that giant lemurs were excellent in combat, you know what they say: we are good at things we didn't know. well I don't have words to describe what I saw when another ostile tribe attacked them, but I'm sure it reminds me of a fantasy troll movie. the archaeoindris is unstoppable because it has a brutal gripping force that killed the enemies in an instant when it took the enemies in an instant by grabbing it with his hand. not to mention how brutal he is with the mangual he uses in his other hand. He is capable of destroying metal structures as if they were paper! and the most terrifying thing is his roar that makes the other allied creatures ignore the pain and keep on fighting, simply this lemur is incredible and brutal. make yourself the male and female and prepare a small army of archaeoindris ready for battle! *skills: - deadly grapple: the archaeoindris has a grappling force capable of taking out small enemies instantly like the noglin when it leaves a host, including survivors but it will be a very concentrated move that will need a little more time than normal (we know how hard it is to move a corpse so the archaeoindris will never let go of the enemy until you ask it to). - normal grab: it will be able to grab small creatures and survivors with its hand to capture. - throw it: it will be able to throw allies or enemies with its grip. - flail brutality: he has his mangual, a deadly war weapon with 3 levels of power, when you raise a bar like shadowmane he will move you to the next level with another set of moves. to the next level with another set of brutal moves, at level 3 it does damage to metal structures and tek giving you the feeling of using a small mek. level 1: solid and direct but slow hits level 2: faster blows and intense combinations level 3: the adrenaline of the archaeindris is at its peak, metal structures and tek are bulnerable, every 3rd hit is a stun hit, dismount automatically. - flail grab: use the flail as a bolas and catch medium creatures (including flying ones) (but you can't use the flail while doing that). - forget the pain, keep fighting: possesses a great war cry that cancels all disadvantages caused by enemies to nearby allies (like fear, bleeding, etc). -great jumps: jumps from wall to wall to reach a target. passive: - the more damage he receives from bleeding, the more damage he will do. - attach a banner to your mount and it will offer a 20% xp increase. - when you face another archaeoindris the resistance increases by 15%. - resistance to poison, narcotics, toxins of 60%. - if you get shot by weapons the stamina will be reduced slowly - when you have l50% health, they will not be able to dismount you. male skills: -bigalow: the male is the only one able to tame other females. female abilities: big mama: offer her food and she will atomatically take care of the offspring (only of her species) by carrying them on her back (it is necessary to remove the mount). super big mama: offer her superior kibble and she will automatically imprint her offspring (but the time will be longer). the armor of the archaeoindris can be made in the blacksmith shop. pvp/pve utility: - they may have low health but the damage they have is devastating, take them on quests or even to the boss! - make the role playing game of your dreams! lord of the rings style use the archaeoindris in battle! - use the archaeoindris to tame grypon, tropeo and others by trapping them with his weapon. - finish off your enemies and take his body to a safe place to take everything he has! my inspiration: I was inspired by the huge ogres from lord of the rings and I always wanted to see something like that in ark, I hope so.   4. (just a quick heads up, this image is NOT my art, and is simply for showing the design of this creature) Introducing Meiolania, the giant turtle that brings the fun in the heat of combat! While the realistic counterpart of this animal only reached 2.5 meters, I would want to see an ARK version reaching Trike sizes. This creature's main ability would normally be physically impossible, but I think it should be fine if we have sword-wielding Mantis in the game. Meiolania would essentially act as a giant beyblade, bouncing off of and destroying anything in its path. This could be great for movement, combat, and raiding, plowing through terrain, structures, and creatures. You can even control Meiolania while using this attack, turning Meiolania into a mobile, indestructible fortress. This ability takes inspiration from Bowser's Whirling Fortress attack from the Super Smash Bros franchise, but also takes inspiration from a few other franchises. Why I want this creature in the game: I've always liked turtles and tortoises, but the ones in ARK as of right now are really bad. One is an earlygame beach dweller that's LITERALLY MISSING AN EYE, and it's only purpose is to soak damage. The other one is a giant, ugly, slow turtle, and described by most as one of the most annoying-to-tame creatures in the game. The turtles really deserve more than this. This vote is their only hope, so I really wanted to bring these guys into the spotlight for once. This is when I remembered my old idea for a Titan on The Island, it was a giant turtle with a mountain on its back that used tons of water to propel itself and start spinning. I then decided to apply this to a smaller, more usable creature. And that's when this Meiolania submission was born! @OnFire944 was kind enough to make a video going over some features and abilities of this creature! For a more in-depth description on this creature, check the information below the video. Below this is my fully complete concept for this creature. If you don't want to read all of it, here is a quick summary of what it can do: - Has infinite oxygen and can walk on the seafloor, allowing underwater travel. Using the Rapid Spin will slowly bring you back up to the surface, where you will eventually start spinning on the surface. - Requires boulders or cannonballs be be knocked out, similar to a Karkinos or Rock Golem. However, unlike other creatures with this taming method, Meiolania can breed, so you don't need to waste too many materials taming multiple of these. - This is an herbivorous creature found in beaches and swamps, and will only attack if damaged. - This creature can deal good damage and has high health, making it a formidable boss fighter, siege weapon, and bullet soaker. - The spin attack this creature utilizes is called Rapid Spin, it uses a lot of stamina over time, but deflects bullets, allows fast travel, and even has its own knockback mechanics, allowing you to play Beyblade in ARK! - This creature comes with 4 passenger seats. Bring some friends and take them on the ride of their lives! - This creature can only be picked up by a Tusoteuthis or Quetzalcoatlus, but can also be effected by Net Projectiles. Use these to your advantage when taming this creature or stopping it from spinning. - With Rapid Spin allowing you to travel at high speeds along with high weight, passenger seats, and spinning above water, this is a very solid choice for transportation. Here is the full, in-depth concept: Meiolania: Wild: Meiolania is among the largest terrestrial non-dinosaurian reptiles found on the ARK, reaching Triceratops sizes. Because of this, Meiolania has very few predators, and the predators Meiolania does have are often very unsuccessful in taking them down. Nothing can get past its shell, and no predator would dare to get close to Meiolania’s sharp beak. However, Meiolania is strictly herbivorous and will only attack if threatened. Tamed: Meiolania is large, armored, and very slow, so it’d seem like Meiolania does nothing but soak damage, right? However, Meiolania have an ability normally not seen in the wild, and would normally seem impossible. Meiolania can tuck into their shell and begin spinning at rapid speeds, allowing Meiolania to move much faster while destroying everything in its path. To prevent a rider or other passengers from becoming nauseous, the Meiolania’s saddle uses a gyro to prevent riders from spinning around: Ingame Information: Tamable: Yes Ridable: Yes Saddle: Meiolania Saddle (lvl 82) Breeding: Yes Egg: Exceptional Kibble Poop: Large Size: Large Diet: Herbivore Group: Reptiles Temperament: Neutral Torpor Immune: No Bossfight Entering: Yes Stats (lvl 1 tamed): Health: 1200 (Rex has 1100 for comparison) Stamina: 200 Oxygen: Infinite (walks on seafloor) Weight: 950 Melee: 35 (bite, same damage as an Allo bite) 75 (Shell Collision, same damage as a Reaper King bite) Speed: 650 (Slightly slower than Titanosaur or a 100% speed Kapro) Attacks: RT/LC: Bite. Comes out really fast, but has a small but of endlag, preventing the bite from having an unnaturally fast attack rate. LT/RC: Rapid Spin. Meiolania tucks into its shell and spins at rapid speeds, traveling at 3 times the speed and can move sideways and backwards. If Meiolania is underwater and uses this move while holding jump, Meiolania will rise to the surface and spin on the surface. Colliding into something does 75 base damage, and will knock back the foe. If the foe is large sized or bigger, Meiolania will also be knocked back, launching farther the bigger the foe is. The move uses quite a lot of stamina though. RS/C: Emote: A cosmetic emote where Meiolania lifts its front legs before stomping and letting out a roar (and no, the stomp doesn't do damage). This would also be Meiolania's level up animation. Abilities: - Deflects bullets when spinning - 4 passenger seats - Gyro saddle: The saddle of Meiolania has an auto-turn similar to what creatures like Rock Golem or Gigantopithecus have. However, Meiolania doesn't have this auto-turn, only the saddle. This allows the saddle to constantly be facing in one direction while Meiolania is spinning, rather than the saddle spinning with Meiolania.
