  1. Common Name: Toxodon Species: Toxodon platensis Time: Late Miocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: neutral Wild-A strange creature that even the Charles Darwin was stumped on. The Toxodon is a odd creature looking like a strange mix of multiple different creatures these south American mammas are used to living life in the tropics and by waterways as they are herbivores that feed on vegetation from the surrounding area. I even seen these creatures dive great length in order to feed on aquatic plants. They can put up a decent fight but if the going gets tough these animals quickly retreat into the water were they dive down to quickly escape predators by running on the bottom of the water. Domesticated -Toxodon is a hardy creature that and the fact it will retreat into the water has been much headache for tribes attempting to tame them. however they can still be brought down and tamed normally. Once down they will want berries, crop s and of course superior kibble in order to be tamed. Once tamed tribes find a useful beast able to carry heavy load and transport them with relative speeds across the center even in water it is decently fast. It even seems the only thing that really hunt toxodon in the water are scaros as most other water creatures just avoid them. PVE -high weight -fast swimming speed -large poop producer PVP -High health pool -medium damage -Fish ignore you so could lure enemies into water traps Image 1 from https://prehistoric-fauna.com/Toxodon Image 2 from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Toxodon_platensis.jpg
  3. Ark's Semi Aquatic Bulldozer All art belongs to their respective owners. I do not take credit. (Potential Gender Dimorphism in the horns made by my best friend that helped create this creature concept) Species: Arsinoitherium Terrainius Time: Late Eocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Unpredictably Aggressive Wild Probably one of the closest animals we have in the modern day to having the temperament of most of the creatures on the island would be the hippopotamus. Deadly, fast, tanky. And above all uncalled for aggression despite having no reason to be. And for whatever reason some maniac decided to take that already existing unit and merge it with a mutant rhino to make Arsinoitherium. It only takes this place. They tend to reside in swamps and coastlines, and have the amphibious nature of hippos. However they seem just as home on land proven with their reckless charge rhinos tend to display and it doesn't seem they discriminate what they can be hostile towards. Rightly so, Arsinoitherium will charge most predators that intrude their waterways but on occasion even a passive herbivore that gets too close will be chased down. The way they charge whatever makes them see red though is rather unique compared to other horned creatures though. Rather than just giving chase with its head lowered it takes this a step further and will actually gorge its massive horns against the ground as it charges, ripping through the earth and undergrowth as it chases its target and catching whatever debris or hapless victim gets caught in its plow of widespread horns. Including other dinosaurs! Arsinoitherium is shown to have incredibly powerful neck muscles and during its destructive charge it will scoop up whatever is in its way and finish with a mighty flick of its head that sends whatever earth and debris (victims) that has gotten in its way, flying into the air. Which will rain everything caught up by its horns back down into a downpour that'll hail a jarring landslide down onto anything unlucky enough to be near it. It seems to know that it can properly utilize this ability to throw earth at it's targets and will sometimes deliberately stop it's charge abruptly in order to distract a returning aggressor or fleeing victim with a shower of projectiles, ranging from dirt, to rock, to toppled logs or even creature that may have been in the way on it's charge. Be wary you're not safe from this charge, and it's proceeding landslide, across a body of water. They will continue this plow and run across the riverbed without a slow to their momentum, much like a hippopotamus or the Ark's native Andrewsarcus it is completely at home in water. Tamed While taming such a beast is a fearful event, without a doubt Arsinotherium will be a menace on the battlefield, during its plow it can sweep up a field of helpless victims smaller than it in it's horns, then pelt any beast larger than it by launching the contents shoveled up in it's horns at the mentioned. Not only that but this creature has been witnessed being trained to crash into enemy bases with a mighty swing that can instantly knock a hole in the wall of their defenses, making an instant door for other raiders to enter as it'll be too stunned to react for a moment after doing such a hearty blow with it's head. However this beast could potentially be an amazing beast of burden. A herd of these could clear a forest in a matter of minutes when plowing its horns into the earth and carry any toppled tree of uplifted rock in its horns and haul the useful contents back home without breaking a sweat even under the heaviest loads. Taming Method As for actually taming one though. All I can guess is it's one weakness. The width of Arsinotherium's horns obstruct the vision of whatever is straight in front of it's nose and you can use this to your advantage. Whenever one charges for you, stand as brave as you can muster straight in its line of charge then jump away at the last moment as if you're some insane Spanish bullfighter taking advantage of its blindspot. Do this a few times and it should wear its stamina out and become short of breath. During this time take the advantage to approach it in its blind spot again and try feeding it to convince it you're more valuable standing than being plowed over. Abilities and Attacks Left Click - Generic Horn attack A horn strike with good knockback that can be used while running. Looking backwards can cause it to turn around and buck its horns towards the direction you are facing, similar to the Sarco. Can damage thatch, wood, and adobe. (Stone will come later) Right Click - Bulldozing Charge This here is the main gimmick of this furious ungulate. Arsinoitherium will lower its horns to the ground and charge at a fast speed, plunging its horns into the ground and charging forward to plow up anything in its way, this even includes under water where it will race on river/ocean beds much like the Andrewsarchus. This charge comes in three variants that offer different uses for its ability, one being attack based, one for harvesting and transporting heavy loads, and a single heavy thrust that can demolish structures and break armor. Like with the stego, pressing C toggles which mode you are in. Pressing Right Click again can cancel the charge. - Rampant Plow - Race forward at high speeds, allowing directional steering that lasts as long as the Arsino has stamina. During this charge it can break through just about any natural structure (Resource nodes) and fill its "horn plow" by charging through rocks, trees, etc, and even other creatures. Said creatures up to the size of a Carno, Allo if we want to stretch it, will be scooped into Arsino's horns and taken on a damaging ride at its mercy. This all charges up a finishing attack (pressing left click) where the Arsino bucks its horns upwards and launches its collected debris into the air, creating a downpour of rubble in front of it that damages and very briefly stuns any creature caught in the pelting of falling objects. The more resource nodes/creatures gathered up in its plow while in the charging stage will increase the rubble collected in its horns and make the finishing attack have a wider range to pelt anything in the area and also increase the stun duration placed on creatures. This charge can be further used underwater as well by running across the riverbed and is fundamentally the same as on land, except during the end throw attack the stun effect is removed from the debris and replaced with a mud cloud that obscures vision. Cons for balancing this move: Aside from this move having a brief cooldown to prevent stun locking; Only so much rubble can be collected in the Arsino's horns in a single charge. Once a certain weight or number cap is reached the Arsino while quit gathering objects rammed into with its horns and instead topple any resource nodes and push enemy creatures out of the way instead. Also the more this attack is charged by collecting resources the slower its movement speed becomes until it stops the charge or throws its collected rubble. This basically makes it a reverse Wooly Rhino where the slower it is charging, the more hard hitting the end result will be. - Harvesting Plow - The Arsinoitherium lowers its horns to the ground and begins a slower paced, endless charge that allows them to break down trees, stone, ore nodes, etc and turn them into usable resources. This charge is purely made for gathering up resource nodes and harvesting their contents. This does not serve as an attack and can be used underwater like all the other charges. This is meant to further lean into the name that this is Ark's "living bulldozer" and makes it a beast of burden for construction as well. Pressing left click or right click will make the Arsinoitherium raise its head to carry the gathered load anywhere you please. Clicking again will make it drop its load and place a pile of rubble that serves as a temporary inventory, like a beaver dam, that lets you extract all the resources you've collected. Furthermore, this charge can be used to pick up creatures of a given size and allow the arsinoitherium to haul them around freely. Great for grabbing that tame you want! And if we want to get a tad crazy I could see this move also being used to pick up friendly structures to move and relocate them like the Rhyniognatha and Exo Mek. Cons for balance: This is not intended to be a superior in every way creature as Arsinoitherium does not excel at gathering certain resources as much as other creatures. If you want to mass collect metal you'll still want to use your Anky or Mammoth for harvesting wood. HOWEVER, if you got an abundant forest of resources you can quickly plow them for quick (and more entertaining) reasource collecting. Due to its high weight it can be used as a pack mule as well if you wish to use your typical resource farmers anyway. And Finally… - Demolishing Thrust - The Arsinoitherium drags its horns to the side to build up momentum then lunges forward to a set, unsteerable, distance with a powerful thrust that lives up to its name. More so an in place attack than a charge. This attack can break/pierce armor of anything caught in the way. This can break most armor on survivors and pierces through saddles or damage reduction abilities like the Rock Elemental or Reaper's natural armor. However what makes this move truly dangerous, specifically for PVP, is the ability to INSTANTLY DEMOLISH enemy structures right in front of it. However this doesn't work against metal or tek tiers. So this use will only be useful against early to mid game enemy bases. Bobs Beware! Set your traps and spiked walls up to prevent this from happening. Cons for Balance: As stated this attack has a very limited range. Only going straight forward and its range only being about three foundations in length. The animation is also fairly lengthy so you may have time to push an enemy Arsinoitherium out of the way before it makes contact. But if this attack does hit, the Arsinoitherium will be stunned for a few seconds due to hitting its head a little too hard, which gives a good punishment window. This attack can only be triggered if ridden by a rider directly and has a very significant cooldown before it can be used again. - Passive Abilities - Brute Strength. Cannot be encumbered to the point of no longer being able to move. While Arsinoitherium will still slow down once it reaches the encumbered status it won't ever get to the point it'll completely halt. You'll still be able to carry those resources that you bit off more than you could chew back to base! This is to again keep to the idea it's the "bulldozer" with the strength to haul a heavy load. Potentially a weight reduction on most resources collected in ore, stone, and tree based resource nodes. - Physical Appearance in Game - Arsinoitherium will be a roughly medium sized dinosaur on the upper side of the scale. For a rough comparison I'd put it at the size of a Woolly Rhino if not a bit larger to make its carrying capabilities with its horns look possible. One thing I'd definitely hope for Wildcard to include is gender dimorphism in their appearance, as the real life Arsinoitherium has been hypothesized that males had wider and more splayed out horns while the females were more narrowed. While I have thought of genders having different stats such as females having a faster charger or males having a higher weight carry I'd be perfectly content with the difference being only visually. - Why did we make Arsinoitherium and why should you vote for it? - For fun! It's not crafted to be the next Giga/Wyvern competition even though it has its attacks that can give it a fair tussle against the strongest creatures. And it's been given abilities that potentially give it a unique flavor among Ark's roster given it's plow ability and ability to be a viable raid creature in lower tier bases by blowing open a weakness in their defenses. I love the idea of just chaotically veering acrost a battlefield or flattening a forest to make your next base. Also I feel they could be incredibly fun in boss arenas. Since most bosses summon minions I love the idea of sweeping their lackeys up then to just throw them all right back at their boss. (Sketch once again credited to my friend.) Any feedback will be appreciated and thank you for reading all the way through!
  4. Good afternoon, survivors! After being stumped on what to do for this contest, me and a fellow 'Retrosaur' loving friend have imagined the perfect counter to that pesky airborne virus that plagues the safe zones of every map.. May I present the wonderful, splendid looking and immaculately moisturized hadrosaur.. THE ANATOSAURUS! The Hadrosaurs are a family of dinosaurs that I hold close to my heart, and as an enjoyer of older depictions of these animals I thought that ARK could really do with another duckbill in its roster - and especially one with a twist like this.. Dossier Common Name: Anatosaurus Species: Anatosaurus hiruphagus Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Neutral (Aggressive towards bug repellant) Wild An oddity amongst its relatives ornithopods. They are native to the steamy swamps of The Center’s ring and possess an amphibious lifestyle, spending their days happily grazing upon aquatic vegetation and occasionally dousing their slimy bodies in mud to protect against the harsh sun. Coincidentally this behavior also acts as a form of medication, covering over open wounds and cleaning them of debris. This however is largely irrelevant, as at full maturity an Anatosaurus is too large to fall prey to predators with the exception of a lucky Sarcosuchus. Herds of Anatosaurus will often slumber peacefully upon riverbanks, their unique odor attracting droves of flies and other nasty insects. It is to be noted however that whilst a predominantly herbivorous creature an Anatosaur will never pass down an opportunity to devour its favourite treat, leeches - a craving that swamp dwelling survivors have learned to use in their favor. Domesticated Due to their apparent disdain of bug-repelling gel, the act of taming an Anatosaurus is one fit for only the most daring of survivors. These strengthened few have been documented allowing leeches to suck onto them and then wading around until one of the hadrosaurs is drawn to the scent. With one of the parasites latched onto their body the survivor will find soon themselves in the clutches of a hungry hadrosaur, eager to lap down their offering. It is a lengthy process, but by no means is it worthless. Once tamed, Anatosaurus can make for robust beasts of burden within the territory of a developing tribe. Their use as a mount both above and below the water allows them to be utilized in a variety of tasks, namely aqueous foraging and exploration. Whilst not impeccably fast nor strong the hadrosaurs are capable of dealing with a variety of threats by either being steered by their jockey to fight, or to simply flee into the nearest lake or river and make an escape. However the most notable service an Anatosaurus can provide is, oddly enough, its viscous saliva, the production of which can be manipulated upon the animal's consumption of silica pearls. This fluid can, in moderation, be used as a stand in for leech blood in the production of the lesser antidote - an item of high demand in populous areas. Due to the potential obscurity of the ingame dossier, I feel it is best to formally chronicle Anatosaurus' taming method and usage here. TAMING Not unlike recent additions to the game the method of taming an Anatosaurus is quite different than your standard "knock-out-and -feed" creature. The way the player goes about obtaining this buffalo-like beast is quite engaging, as it requires a fairly coordinated plan as to not perish in the swamp's murky waters. Anatosaurus is by default a neutral creature, however in the presence of a player wearing bug repellant it will quickly grow to become hostile. This is because in order to gain its trust, you must feed the hadrosaur its favourite treat - the disgusting leeches - and to do so you must let the parasites latch onto you. With a leech (or multiple) on you, any Anatosaurus within a certain vicinity will grow attracted and make their way over. They will then reach forward and pick up the player and pluck the leech(es) off of you, before dropping you to the ground and carrying on. The more leeches on you, the more the taming bar increases, and proportionally as does the cooldown between feedings. Similar to other passive tames if the hadrosaur happens to take any creature or player induced damage then the bar will reset, however their large size does make it so that usual swamp life such as Titanoboa and Kaprosuchus rarely bother going after them. They will be attracted to you, though.. STATISTICS Since it is ultimately the devs' decision in case I hit a stroke of luck and get voted through I will not be going over specifics in stats for the Anatosaurus. I will provide a rough estimation made by my friend for it's base stats and spawn rates however, but take this with a grain of salt. (Stats at Level 1) Health - 500 Stamina - 200 Oxygen - 400 Food - 2500 Weight - 300 (Spawns) Only in swamps with a rate of 1 every 40 minutes. Doesn't get targetted by swamp animals with the exception of Sarcos but will be attacked by other non-swamp life upon getting close to them. USAGE Anato is all around a fairly decent mount that will serve a middle game tribe quite well in the exploration department. Its running speed is slightly slower than fellow ornithopod Iguanodon, however it burns through stamina much quicker. In the water however the Anatosaurus is capable of swimming around as fast as the Baryonyx, and its stamina consumption is decreased immensely. As for combat, it is the epitome of average. If need be an Anato can defend itself from smaller threats and is by no means defenseless, but when it comes to a pack of Allos or other larger theropod it is best to steer clear. It is because of this reason that it is advisable to stick within a brisk sprint to a water source to make an escape if nescessary. Anato would also possess two mouse abilities; a simple arm swipe tied to LMB, and a pick up for RMB. Now, onto Anatosaurus' main three abilities; the serendipitous slobber, carrying and its skin care rituals. MUD BATH Being an amphibious creature it made sense to give this Anato the ability to coat itself in wet sediment to give itself the aptly named 'Mud' buff. Preferably requiring you to be standing on ground close to water, an Anatosaurus can be whistled to give itself a luxurious dousing of mud that will temporarily grant it a 50% resistance to bleed as well as increased healing. The buff will last around 5 minutes at most and have a 10 minute cooldown in order to even it out. This ability will give it just that little bit more protection out in the field, plus you cannot lie that it fits the whole rompin' stompin' aura that this hadrosaur emits. When mounted this ability can be activated with at default the C key, and will grant the player a temporary heat resistance buff - the perfect dino to cool down on a hot summers' day! One thing to be noted however is that this mud coating will wear off as soon as you enter water. This is to encourage land exploration with the buff active. ANTIDOTAL SALIVA Have you ever logged in to a server only to find the spawn zones plagued with beach bobs spreading Swamp Fever to every last person who enters? Ever wished that there was a way to make the tedious process that comes with making the antidote.. A little less so? Well, those days are no more with a tamed Anatosaurus in your tribe! Due to living in one of the most revolting places known to man the Anatosaurus has grown unbothered with the mere concept of infections, and its craving for leeches has made it immune to the nasty pathogens found in the parasites' systems. It is because of this that the hadrosaur is a living cure for the scourge of Swamp Fever. It's bodily fluids are revered by tribes due to their medicinal properties, and its saliva in particular, which can be harvested from a tamed Anato's inventory roughly 10 seconds after feeding it a proportional number of silica pearls, which is placed in the hotbar and fed with "E". The cooldown is short, about 30 seconds. It is to be noted that high level Anatos require more pearls whilst low levels require less, so fairly standard. This saliva can be used as a substitute for leech blood in the recipe of lesser antidote vials, making the Anatosaurus an impeccably useful tame even long after its days of exploration are over in an apex level tribe. CARRYING Tying in to its use as an exploration mount the Anatosaurus possesses the charming ability to pick up smaller creatures and even certain structures in its webbed hands and bring them along on your escapades! Of course there is a limit for both, with the largest creature able to be carried being the player, and for structures it is the small item box. This means that the Anato would be useful as a means to set up temporary camps along your routes, or even assist in the moving of small tames and storage from one base spot to another. Whilst (hopefully) self explanatory, I thought I'd disclose the fact that when holding an object/creature, the Anatosaurus will not be able to use its LMB swipe attack. THANK YOU FOR READING! I hope you like this unique take on a (relatively) obscure dinosaur!
  5. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to write a dossier please forgive me Histionotophorus is a giant handfish native to the shallow coasts on the center. while it has a calm disposition, it will not hesitate to defend itself using its elongated dorsal spine! General Omnivore breedable lays eggs requires a saddle to be ridden Taming Histionotophorus is a passive tame using tuso tentacles as food Abilities Passive Histionotophorus is semi aquatic and can swim through water and walk on land (though much slower) Gains the hydration buff when in water similar to spino Active LMB - Bite Deals low damage and harvests corpses and bushes RMB - Unsheathe dorsal spine Allows Histionotophorus to use its spine attacks SPACEBAR - Toggle climbing Toggles climbing mode when on land and walking mode while swimming LMB (Unsheathed) - Dorsal spine slash Histionotophorus slashes with its dorsal spine dealing a stack of open wound. once 5 stacks is reached the target is dealt a burst of %damage and then are applied armor reduction for a few seconds. If Histionotophorus hits an enemy while mid air they are vaulted upwards Histionotophorus swings slower on land C (unsheathed) - Dash Histionotophorus dashes forward dealing 2 stacks of open wound to enemies in its path If Histionotophorus hits an enemy while mid air they are vaulted upwards Dash lets Histionotophorus jump from the water Dash has less distance when used on land Additional reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handfish (info on handfish) https://tb.plazi.org/GgServer/html/2816A22677549657411A1895FBC57E8A (info on Histionotophorus)
  6. Wild This biofluorescent Newt is way bigger then I remember! Maybe the radiation it lives in has mutated it? It seems it has retained it semi aquatic adaption though. The liquid element may play apart in this, it seems to be able to swim in it with no side effects that I can see unlike its neighbors the Rockdrake. Diet This specimen seems to grab rock drake eggs from a good distance with its tongue like a Chamillion, making it easy to run away into the element river. It's strange that this creature has such a feature in this place, but I've seen stranger things on the ark haha Domesticated This creature has the ability to climb on any surface much like the Rock Drake and has type of camouflage that seems to only activates in water or liquid element that hides it from creature and players for a time consuming stamina slowly. It also has a tongue that can quickly grab and store Drake eggs for a quick get away ! Or grab players off their mounts or ballistas if it ever came to that.
  7. Ark desperately needs more amphibians, and what better than one of the biggest, if not the biggest amphibian of all time, Prionosuchus! ============================================== Abilities: It's main attack and ability is it can store and shoot water at incredibly long ranges, much like a sniper rifle made out of pressurized water within the Prionosuchus. Whenever its in water, it is able to store water by holding CTRL (or its console equivalent) and then prop itself above the surface to shoot it's stored water at foes using RMB. Whenever it hits a target, the target will become stunned and dismount the player, this becomes dangerous for players using a flyer above the water. This also deals high damage when fully charged, having a max of 120 damage dealt, this may also hit a player and not the creature itself. Additionally it shreds through armor like nothing. If it is pointed directly above water, it can fling itself out of the water, while its in the air you are able to do barrel rolls to boost your speed, but you have to fling yourself multiple times to get more barrel rolls for speed, the fastest it can become is 3x its normal swim speed. If it hits an enemy while doing a barrel roll, it can do damage to them, and the damage depends on how fast you are moving/the amount of barrel rolls. Barrel rolls are activated by pressing C (Or console equivalent) while flung. Pearl sniffing is one of its other abilities, when it is in the water you can press X (or the console equivalent) to sniff out silica and black pearls, if it has found either pearl, it will mark them with a green outline if its silica and a blue outline for black pearls, if you dismount this outline will stay for 10 seconds. Can passively detect danger nearby, almost like a glowpet. Full omnidirectional turning (like a Rhynio) when in water. Immunity to eel and jellyfish stings. (This art is done by ZCI5250) =============================================== Taming method: To tame a Prionosuchus you must have either Silica pearls or black pearls in your last inventory slot, this will make Prionosuchus approach you, when it has approached you, you can give it the silica/black pearl which boost its taming, however it will quickly dart away to the nearest body of water for 10 seconds. After it has finished darting away, it will approach you again. Repeat this process and you will have a Prionosuchus. =============================================== Extra information: Prionosuchus can be found in oceans, swamps, rivers, and caves with water. Saddle is unlocked at level 60 It's stats are similar to that of a Spino. ================================================ And thats all! Thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoy this submission.
  8. Hippopotamus Gorgops is an extinct species of Hippopotamus that was around in the late Pliocene but went extinct in the middle Pleistocene. They were 14 feet long and almost 7 feet tall, With a weight of almost 10,000 pounds. Taming: Hippopotamus Gorgops can be found in rivers and lakes on Ragnarok, In small rare herds of 1-3 who are very aggressive, So you will need to pacify them with giant amounts of crops. If you don't and try to knock them out right away, They will enter an enraged state and charge at you with violent speeds. Gorgops need to have large amounts of crops so they can trust you, Then you can give them small doses of narcotics inbetween feedings of large crops, Then once knocked out they will passively tame, Digesting the food but it will take a long time. Abilities: They have very hard and durable skin and bones, As well as a bite that lets them grab and thrash creatures who stand in their way. They are also very agile in the water, Being able to glide on the riverbeds with ease, As well as swim with good speeds. They can harden their skin, Giving them a sort of armor plate on their back, While decreasing their damage and speed because of the energy lost. Attacks: Bite, Grab, and Stomp.
  9. The map Ragnarok takes inspiration from the area of Scotland. So I made sure my Suggestion followed this inspiration in the form of tanystropheus. You would find tanystropheus as an alternative to spinos at rivers or lake’s functioning similar to Carchars and gigas where the spawn rotates between them. The tanystropheus would be a relatively agile swimmer with similar stats to a spino but has less health for more dmg. The idea of this is that the tanystropheus will have a very far attack range due to the length of its neck. When tamed this creature will have an ability use similar to a fishing pole able to catch fish that will give a high number of prime fish meat. Its attacks will consist of a basic bite that can utilise its far attack range to fight of creatures before becoming in a normal attack range. Secondary attack would be a stomp allowing for Defense on creatures that got too close. tanystropheus will have a third attack that swings it’s neck and causes heavy knock back to anything it hits similar to a diplo but on a more powerful scale. Its saddle will feature seats for up to four people that will run along its neck with the one closest to the body being the drivers seat. I would make a creature dossier but unfortunately I cannot draw
