Psittacosaurus, the echolocatiting combat pet
Reaverking posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Introducing Psittacosaurus! The newest shoulder pet on aberration Name: Psittacosaurus Petramiculator Time: Early Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Neutral Wild In the wild , Psittacosaurus can be seen roaming in small groups or alone. Although small, most predators seem to leave them alone. And I know why, they aren’t afraid to use their quills. I’ve seen raptors get a mouthful of quills during an attack on these little guys. Domesticated Due to the quills and attitude towards predators , I thought psittacosaurus couldn’t be tamed. Then I learned that some survivors have trained them to spit rocks at their enemies. Rock spitting isn't the only thing they’re good for. The quills glow and can be used to keep enemies away. What’s even more fascinating is their ability to echolocate, which allows them to find food and those same rocks. Some survivors use it to find other resources as well.-

Saurornitholestes, the Living Tracker
allmightywizard posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Have you ever lost a tamed creature in the wild and have no idea where you were? Well, here's a new helper to assist in tracking. This raptor can also locate specific materials, items, as well as wild dinos. Have you ever been looking for a specific wild dino and can't find it? Saurornitholestes will lead you straight to it! Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Agressive Wild Saurornitholestes closely resembles the raptor in size and speed. It even hunts with raptors, but this one is different. It also possesses an unusually large skull cavity for its olfactory bulbs giving it the keen ability to track other creatures with ease. Taming This creature is tamed the traditional way - knock out, feed it, and done. Domesticated Once tamed, the Saurornitholestes can help the survivor track specific wild species. It certainly needs to be familiar with its smell to sniff it out. So far, it has been able to locate any person in my tribe and any creature in our possession. -
Common name: Mononykus Family: Alvarezsaurid Time Period: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Active (skittish) Wild: The Mononykus is a very small theropod that spends its time hunting insects and small animals, and collecting shiny objects to ornament their burrows and nests. The name of this dinosaur, which means simply "one claw", eludes to their limitations of abilities, although they are still experts at foraging through termite mounds, as well as climbing trees to evade potential predators. Due to its small frame, it can outrun most creatures on the Ark's, and while carrying any goodies that it snagged in the process with ease. Due to the Mononykus being easily spooked, it will tend to steer clear of anything creature or human larger than itself, although it cannot resist any shiny metals or gemstones. Domesticated: A unique ability of the Mononykus is its uncanny sense of direction towards valuables, including crystals, obsidian, and other gemstones. Once tamed, this nimble creature will be able to sit on your shoulder and sniff out any and every precious and shiny material nearby, sometimes even digging up materials straight from the ground. Its sense of smell is so attuned, it can tell the valuables within crate and supply drops, (including other players boxes). While the Mononykus will shy away from any unnecessary encounter in the wild, once tamed it will try its best to aid you with a bite from its small, sharp teeth and slashes from its two claws. It has been found that the Mononykus possesses an unexpected ability to carry heavy loads, and even being stronger at carrying valuables. Taming: To tame the Mononykus, you will need to first find one and slowly crouch or crawl up to it, as walking or running will spook it if you are too close. Once you are within range of it, drop any shiny or valuable object for it to inspect, the shinier the better. Once approved, it will take the item into its inventory and continue on until distracted by another shiny object. If the Mononykus becomes scared during the taming process, it will run away to a burrow until the threat is negated, then it will exit from the burrow and will be allowed to be tamed again. Luckily, once tamed, the Mononykus will return your shiny objects back to you, as well as a hefty reward from its unknown stash (which could include a high level item/blueprint). Abilities: Simple Bite: A bite attack that deals a moderate amount of damage. Claw Swipe: Occasionally it will lash out with its two claws, dealing a relatively large amount of damage for its size. Valuable Detection: Mononykus can detect valuables either from the shoulder mount or on the ground, and will lead you via audio and visual cues towards their locations, and once you have the Mononykus for a long enough time, you will be able to distinguish the meanings of its multitude of calls as a language for what valuable is ahead. Digging for Gold: The Mononykus will sometimes dig up sections of the ground in search of precious materials, and will almost certainly find some valuable materials, such as metal, crystals, obsidian, and other gemstones. Weight Reduction: This small creature has a hidden knack for being able to hold certain heavy materials with ease, as long as it likes the shininess of the object.

PYRENIACA MEDISAL (Salt-seeking reviver) This ancient goat will be the prime companion in this hostile desert environment, as while it's not its original mountain home, it will be of even more use here. The Pyrenian Ibex will search endlessly for salt, which is in high supply in the desert. This newfound environment has enhanced its taste buds, though, and now it is able to find other minerals like crystals and metal simply by taste! This will prove to be an invaluable asset to keep you progressing, and yet there's more. For a simple price of health and some salt, a tamed Ibex will be able to resurrect another tamed creature if near enough to the corpse or dermis! DOSSIER The Pyrenean Ibex (Pyreniaca Medisal) is an intriguing creature, one with powers unlike anything I've seen in my travels around this strange world. It appears that it can detect what is in metal nodes simply by the taste of the stone, with subtle differences amplified by its permanent quest for salt. And rumour has it, it can revive the dead, for a cost... The creators of this strange land must have really studied the Ibex's natural behaviors while it was alive, as it has a permanent longing for salt. This insatiable craving is a driving force for the Ibex, and is the reason why it can tell what is in stone nodes simply by taste; the taste buds on its tongue are so adept to searching for salt that they can pick up and decipher bare traces of almost anything you could possibly find in a stone node. If it were moved to other ARKs somehow, I can only imagine the possibilities for what it could find There is another side to this creature other than an adorable salt-seeking goat mount; They can raise the dead... sort of. I believe, that as a reference to this particular species's de-extinction in 2003 CE, whoever decided to put this creature into the Ark gave it a special ability: If given the fresh corpse or, much harder to do, the dermis of a creature, it can resurrect them with only a few health points left. However, to do this, requires 2x the amount given to the resurrected creature taken away from the Ibex resurrecting the creature's health, along with a fair amount of salt as payment for this incredible act. EXAMPLE Say your favorite Lystosaurus just wandered off a cliff. You bring your trusty Ibex down to your unlucky pet's corpse. You have it bring the Lystro back to life with 75 health points left. Not much, but hopefully enough to bring it back up the dune to your base. This action takes away 150 health from your Ibex, 2x the amount it revived your Lystro for. It also requires 75 salt as a reward for sacrificing some of it's own health for your little buddy. Now, say you're walking back up the dune to your house. Suddenly, your Lystro gets attacked by a Thorny Lizard, killed, and subsequently eaten by the lizard. You fight it off, but your Lystro is gone forever. Or is it? Suddenly, you remember you took its dermis before it fell. You rush back on your Ibex's strong back, nearly vertically up the dune to your house. Good thing its used to steep mountains! You grab your dead Lystro's dermis and hastily give it to your Ibex, and resurect it with 50 health left, but in the safety of your base. This takes 250 health (5x) from your Ibex, with a fee of 125 salt. Now, there would be a 10 minute cool down for any resurrection to make it more balanced, but this is a close approximation of a normal resurrection. TAMING So, how would you tame this incredible creature? Well, there are 2 ways: 1. Lead the Ibex to some salt nodes and let it lick them. After each one, the taming bar will progress, until finally, it is tamed. 2. This is the less moral method, but it may take a lot less time. Ibexes are naturally kind to most of the desert dinos, so if you bring it a dead creature (naturally dead or killed by you, doesn't matter) it will resurrect the creature, and then you must give it some salt. This will only require a few resurrections due to the long ability cool down. Trivia: Wild Ibexes will destroy trees with a vengeance, due to the last Ibex being killed by a falling tree. Tamed ones will reserve their hatred until you put them on Wander. This makes them somewhat useful for clearing forests, if you can find any. Ibexes will sometimes spawn with a baby in tow, and taming the mother tames the baby too. The baby can not have the Imprinting stat boost, nor can it be tamed without a mother Ibex nearby, similar to the Kairuku, but still requiring a parent.
