Segnosaurus Galbinensis - The Meanest Herbivore!
Zerro posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
All the art in this submission was done by @weiichine on twitter! (sorry if the images look faded and compressed, 400kb max is crazy lol just imagine the nice blue rare flower color.) Dossier description: Wild: Segnosaurus galbinensis is a peculiarly intimidating part of the ecosystem due to its highly aggressive nature. Despite not being a carnivore, this dinosaur is willing to fight anything it encounters. The reason for this behavior is its diet, which consists of nothing but rare flowers, a piece of flora known for its effect of causing any nearby creature to enter a mindless frenzy. Imagine having that for breakfast! Domesticated: Once tamed, this irritable dinosaur can make for a great companion to any survivor looking to pick a fight against nature. Upon consuming enough rare flowers, the segnosaurus gains several benefits, seemingly able to mitigate or release the effects of its meal. Furthermore, it is capable of using its bite to place the orange gas emitted by the plant onto other creatures, which transfers the mind altering toxins onto the one struck by it. Additionally, this herbivore has been observed to be able to deal with large groups of enemies particularly well, as it has grown accustomed to being outnumbered. My idea for the Segnosaurus submission could be broken down to the following concepts: - We need more new herbivores - It has been a while we got a dinosaur that felt more like the "old creatures" added to the game (not too complicated, etc) - Using a mechanic/item in the game that has relatively few/niche uses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Segnosaurus abilities: Left click: The segnosaurus uses its claws to slash whatever is in front of it. This attack is capable of farming an above average amount of leather and rare flowers, while also dealing a good deal of damage to living creatures. Passive: The more rare flower the segno has access to in its inventory, a bar fills up the at the bottom of the screen allowing the dinosaur to use its special moves, as listed below. If this bar runs out completely, it will take longer to recharge as the creature consumes its food slower, so making sure to manage the use of this bar is crucial if one does not wish to be left without it. Additionally, as long as the bar has over half of still filled, the segnosaurus gains 2nd passive ability, giving it increased damage resistance AND increase damage dealt, scaling based on the amount of hostile creatures attacking it. Right click(tap): The segnosaurus performs a bite attack, hitting whatever creature is in front of it. This ability uses some of the RARE FLOWER BAR, and causes the effect of the rare flower to be placed onto the opponent hit, causing wild creatures in the area to aggro onto said creature. Right click(hold): Holding right click instead of tapping it allows the segnosaurus to use the built up rare flower fumes as a breath attack, putting the effect on creatures hit by the mist and causing creatures to choke in the cloud if remaining inside of it for an extended time, draining their oxygen and potentially causing suffocation. C ability: Pressing the C button allows the player to toggle the effect of the rare flower around the segnosaurus, causing the usual effect of the herbs when consumed regularly, causing creatures to aggro the segno. This can be toggle off once more by pressing C again. Uses: The idea behind the abilities of the segno mainly aim to make the creature into a great gank buster, perhaps finding use in boss fights that include a lot of minion spawns. The creature would excel as a general brawler dinosaur thanks to its aggressively oriented abilities, allowing a rider to greatly disrupt both PvE and PvP fights by being able to involve the wildlife around them using the rare flower mist, causing creatures nearby to side with the player in either assiting with a kill, or at least disrupting the opponent enough to cause them to fumble. Another potential use to a domesticated segnosaurus would be a handy taming buddy. Its ability to draw nearby creatures to itself or onto others would allow for easy ways to kite creatures after the player, leading them into traps or just taking their aggro while tribemates could knock the target dinosaur out. Taming: The taming method of the segno is a somewhat unique one, and so im not sure how well it would transfer to the game, but I think it would be very fitting and cool if it was made possible. In order for a survivor to tame their own segnosaurus, they must approach the hostile creature and from around a medium distance, consume a rare flower. Once this happens, a duel between the player and the dinosaur initiates. From here on out the goal is simple, one must bring the segnosaurus down to about 20-10% of its hp, at which point it will yield and remain still in defeat, allowing the player to walk up and claim their new segnosaurus which they defeated in honorable combat. Dinosaurs can be used for this taming method, but potentially the rare flower would have to be fed to it rather than the player riding it. Conclusion: All in all, I feel like the segno would be a really cool dinosaur to add to the game, while its overall outline and such would resemble a therizino strongly, its abilities which utilize an item with incredibly niche uses would set it apart from the roster. I am open to any sort of feedback as this is definitely not without fault and I'm sure people will spot plenty of issues that I missed, and I will of course be reading every comment, and adjusting/discussing things in ways that seems reasonable. Thank you for reading my submission, again, the art was done by @weiichine who did an incredible job, so make sure to leave them a follow! I hope you have a great day and again, thank you for reading. (Anticipated) FAQ: Where would this dinosaur fit in the creature ladder? I would imagine a low level segno to be a relatively easy tame even mid-game, if you can clear the area around it well and find a good spot or have a strong enough dino to take it on with, while a higher level one would probably be placed closer to the late mid-game to early endgame, alongside dinosaurs like the rex or theri. Wouldn't it look too much like the therizinosaurus? The design in this submission is of course just my own, temporary idea, I am sure if the dinosaur would make it into the game, it could easily be given a design that would set it apart from the theri greatly. Is that mist around the mouth always present? This is the one thing I would love to keep from this design, because yes, I would have imagined a constant flow of it coming from the dinosaurs mouth, which I think would look super cool in-game. Why is the mist breath attack not included in the dossier? The breath attack was a late addition, I made this dinosaur back RIGHT before the creature submissions were put on hold, and since then I have realized it could use an extra ability + the breath would make it harder to cheese the taming 1v1 by just standing on a rock that's tall enough for it to not reach the player.- 1 reply

>>>Timonya (ancient salamander or ancient axolotl???)<<<
AzulongM0N posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Timonya is an extinct genus of Temnospondyl caudate amphibian represented by the type species Timonya anneae from the Early Permian of Brazil. It was probably a small aquatic predator that inhabited lakes and swamps during the Early Permian. The center of tetrapod diversity was in the equatorial regions of the supercontinent Pangea, and Timonya was part of this fauna. This cute, strange-shouldered creature, which looks like a small mix of Diplocaulus and Kaprosuchus (between 30 and 40 centimeters long), with the gills of an axolotl on its head. It is a species of salamander that does not develop in the larval stage, remaining in this state even as an adult and only undergoes metamorphosis when it receives the necessary hormones from others of its species. They are good at swimming fast but very slow on land, they are friendly to players but hostile to fish like coelacanths, and they have enormous regeneration. This creature is very rare and popular among survivors due to its very useful abilities, especially because it is a lucky charm capable of improving the survivor's looting and crafting skills! Features: - they have several different colors ranging from the most common (Pink, Black...) to the rarest (... Green, Gold); - Wild Timonyas release hormones that in a certain quantity and from a certain level can be used to force the metamorphosis of your domesticated "axolotl"; - they can breathe in and out of water, but they need humidity to not dry out, so it's a good idea to have plenty of water in your inventory; - even wild axolotls regenerate very quickly, so to kill them you need to be "strong and fast"; - they are immune to torpor and due to their slippery body they are not hit by arrows or claws; Skills: - Healer: While on the Survivor's shoulder, grants a small bonus to Stamina health regeneration; - Itemfinder: gets agitated near loot; - Flashbang: when attacked, generates a flash that scares and briefly blinds any nearby creature, even its owner, unless it is on its shoulder (this ability prevents attacks, especially those from Purlovia, Thylacoleo, Raptor, Baryonyx...) ; - Larval Phase: can generate light like other luminous creatures, however, this light grants the status of “Luck” to everyone it illuminates. This “luck” generates a chance to improve its owner's fabrications according to their manufacturing skill, in addition to being able to improve loot, whether from Air drops or creatures, making, for example, a normal pickaxe or saddle become ascendant ( leaving a certain glow on upgraded items to show that they have been changed); - Salamander Phase: when it undergoes metamorphosis and assumes its adult salamander form, it transforms into a shoulder-bearing creature, similar to the sinomacrops, improving its swimming instead of flying! Its light changes and instead of granting "luck" it starts giving a small XP bonus to everything it illuminates (similar to, but better than, a lytrosaurus); -Underwater Collector: when it is in the water, in its adult form (like a salamander), it automatically farms the same resources as the beaver house such as cement, rare flower and mushroom, silica pearl, as well as black pearl! Domestication: It will be a passive taming, using a special bait made from insect remains (chitin), fish meat, rare flower, honey, organic polymer and worm horn. Interestingly, the taming meter tends to rise more easily at night or in places dark like caves, you must find them in some water sources in or near caves, and you must fish them with special bait to remove them from the bottom of the water and only then will they accept any drop of insects or fish to complete the taming (you can tame him without the bait, but if you try he will, every time, use the light grenade and run away, but if he is attacked the taming meter will be reset and you will have to start again);-
