With exticition coming out and 4 maps already out. We now have enough maps to make a few closed clusters. One such cluster should be a Solos/Duos official cluster. Even in small tribes a team of 2 vs a team of 5 is a pretty significant difference. We sunsetted so many island servers, surely all of them can't just be for extinction. Hey Survivors and Wildcard, I wanted to bring up something I think a lot of players would agree on—the Maeguana should be available on The Center map! Right now, it's missing, and honestly, that’s a huge loss for both PvE and PvP players who love The Center’s unique landscape. Why It Makes Sense Perfect Biome Fit – The Center has a ton of vertical terrain, waterfalls, cliffs, and islands that would be ideal for the Maeguana’s climbing and gliding mechanics. Imagine navigating the huge rock arches or the deep jungle areas with this dino—it would feel super natural. More Balance Across Maps – Every official map should have a fair balance of creatures, and right now, The Center is getting the short end of the stick. The Maeguana is already on Astraeos, so why not The Center, which has a similar environment? More Taming Variety – The Center doesn't get a lot of exclusive or diverse tames compared to other maps. Adding the Maeguana would give players more incentive to explore and tame beyond the usual dinos found here. Encouraging More Players on The Center – Let’s be real, The Center doesn’t get as much love as other maps, even though it’s one of the most visually stunning ones. Giving it access to newer creatures like the Maeguana would make it a more attractive map for both PvP and PvE players. Wildcard, Please Consider This! The Maeguana is one of the most interesting new creatures, and The Center is an underrated but incredible map. INTRODUCING MOROS INTREPIDUS (Huge shoutout to WolfTek for creating this incredible dossier) WILD: No creature I have encountered has been so aptly named as the Moros Intrepidus. Roughly translated into “Impending Doom”, these relatively tiny tyrannosaurs can accelerate to an unmatched speed. Once Moros catches their target in their jaws, they pull backward with their neck and legs. This “tug o’ war” will immobilize smaller creatures and impede larger ones. However, enough Moros can immobilize almost any creature. Moros can leap onto larger or flying targets jaws-first, viciously shaking their head while hanging off of the creature. The leader of the pack can give the order to execute the target when it senses the target is near death. Upon hearing the signal, the pack will tear off the target in a horrifying display of blood and viscera. Encountering one Moros can ruin a survivor’s day, but a pack can spell a tribe’s doom. DOMESTICATED: Crafty survivors that have tamed a pack of Moros can employ them in some unexpected ways. One obvious use of the pack is to subdue and execute enemies. Successful executions seem to invigorate the pack to find the next target, but failed executions discourage the pack from further attempts. Moros can also be trained to hold a target in place without mauling the target to death, allowing for tribes to trap a creature without killing it. The tamed pack will do as the leader does. If the leader is idly holding the target down, then so is the pack. Targets will typically respond aggressively to being subdued, but Moros can take considerable punishment before letting go. Though this ARK is rife with theropods, both pack-hunting and solitary, none are quite so terrifying or practical as the Moros Intrepidus. INTRODUCTION I conceptualized this creature all the way back in 2023, right before the Extinction creature vote went live. I didn't imagine I would have to wait over a year for the Valguero creature vote to start, but I couldn't be more excited to share my idea with all of you now. I know what you're thinking, "look, another feathered carnivorous therapod, how original". That is a totally valid criticism of this submission, especially considering how Valguero already has its own exclusive pack-hunter that can leap on its target to kill. However, my idea is to bring an effective PvP/PvE ground mount to Valguero that is satisfying to both use and fight against. What makes this submission keenly attuned to Valguero is that Valguero is largely a terrestrially-based map and I conceptualized the creature to be fun to navigate the map with and take advantage of its topography. STATS I'm no balance expert and I am not going to claim to be, not waste anyone's time posturing with arbitrary numbers for health, damage, etc. I'm more going to pitch an idea and I encourage you to post your own ideas. That being said, I envision Moros as being slightly larger than a Raptor, but still smaller than a Baryonyx. I Imagine its health would be relative to other creatures in that size bracket. A distinguishing stat that I believe would make Moros stand out from other therapods is the acceleration mechanic that woolly rhinos and dire bears have. Moros would start off at a meandering trot, but would rapidly accelerate into a top speed above any other therapod. Having the Moros' jumping distance scale to its current level would make for a fun way to traverse the map and/or ambush a target. I imagine its damage output for its standard bite attack would also be relative to other creatures of its size, but its true damage output would lie with its synergies with the rest of its pack. UTILITY My biggest inspiration for this submission was watching two of my dogs play tug 'o' wat with a toy rope while I was playing ASA. I thought how fun it would be to have a tame in ARK that would clamp down on a target and pull with all their might just like dogs do while playing with their favorite toy. My idea for Moros is for its alternate attack to act like a grab attack that Kapros and Megalos do, but instead of walking around with the victim, the Moros would anchor down and add its drag weight to the target. Multiple Moros would be able to latch onto the same target with each of their drag weights being added. This latching attack could be performed from the ground or from a leap so that pesky flyers could be weighed down as well. The aerial latch could be performed similarly as the Deinonychus if that would be easier to implement, or the attack could be performed in the traditional way if that would be more balanced. Once the Moros is attached you can bite with the primary fire attack or simply hold the target in place without doing damage. Being latched should drain stamina and Moros would let go of the target after losing a certain % of their health. PACK MECHANIC Moros would have standard pack buffs with an alpha, but with an extra twist; all Moros in the pack will do as the alpha does with targets they are latched onto. This mechanic would allow the alpha rider to either have the rest of the pack hold the target in place, or they will attack every time the alpha does with the primary fire button. The alpha rider would have an extra ability in its disposal with an execute command. The alpha would roar to signal to all other attached Moros on a target to kill it before they can be shaken off. Once the signal is given, all Moros would rip a chunk out of the target, causing them to let go, but also deal tremendous damage in the process. If the victim dies from the damage, all of the Moros would get their health and stamina back from an adrenaline rush. However, if the victim survives, the Moros become demoralized and get a debuff that prevents them from latching on to a target for its duration. TAMING Taming Moros is a straightforward, but risky process. Wild Moros will use these latching abilities on players and their tames. In order to tame a Moros, you have to engage with the pack and knock them off of your tames after they latch on and feed them taming food. This would require tames that can survive the encounter and proper equipment, but nothing that survivors wouldn't have access to mid-game. You get the opportunity to feed the Moros each time you force them to let go of your tame, but taming progress will be lost if they succeed in executing your tame. CONCLUSION I have followed every creature vote to date very closely, but never imagined I would ever actually make a submission of my own. At the core of this submission is my desire for a tame to be added that players and their friends can have fun with together. From the taming process to employing it in combat against bosses or perhaps even other people in PvP. I also didn't want to create a shallow suggestion that would be some OP monstrosity that would ruin the balance of the game just for the sake of being cool by being overpowered. If you read this and have comments/criticisms then I would love to hear them. I want this suggestion to win, but I also want this to be a good suggestion that people are happy with. If you want to help me achieve that, then your vote says it all. The Haast Eagle is the largest species of eagle to have ever existed. Native to New Zealand, this eagle was the uncontested apex predator of its ecosystem. In Maori legend, Haast Eagles are often credited as the inspiration for legends of giant, man-eating birds. Specializing in hunting prey much larger than themselves, Haast Eagles have adapted well to living on Ark. Their speed, maneuverability, and power have proven them useful mounts for many survivors! Artist Credit: Peter Schouten. Abilities: Divebomb: Like the Griffin and Snow Owl, they can swoop and dive. If a target, flying or land mount, is hit during a dive bomb they’ll be temporarily stunned in place. This works similarly to the Baryonyx stun. Creatures up to the size of an Allo or Quetz can be stunned. Latch and Slash: Using their talons, they can latch onto large prey. Once attached to a large creature, they can slash at the target with their beak and talons. Fossil evidence indicates that this is how the birds hunted in real life. Both land and flying mounts can be latched onto. Gust: A wind-based attack like the one seen in Pokemon. It can be charged up like the Woolly Rhinos charge to deal more damage and knockback. Eagle Eye: Haast Eagles have the best eyesight of any creature on the Arks and can spot just about anything. This includes high-level creatures. Their eyesight works similarly to a spyglass and lets you know the stats of wild creatures. Eagles can also be trained to spot hidden threats like Thylas in trees and Purlovias underground. If near one of these concealed threats, they'll make a clicking sound with their beaks as a warning. Pest Control: Tamed eagles can be set to a new guarding mechanic. When stationary and set to this feature, they will target and hunt small creatures in the nearby vicinity. Troodons, Dilos, Pegos, Ichthyornis, and even non-tribemates on foot will be targeted. Any small creatures killed will be harvested for large amounts of prime meat. Once the target has been killed, they'll return to their post. This mechanic can be disabled at any time a survivor wishes. In both scenarios, you won't have to worry about chasing your eagle around or potentially losing track of it. Passive Scare: Because of their apex status, small animals are terrified of these eagles. Microraptors, Pegos, Troodons, and many other creatures will passively flee at the sight of them. Enhanced Agility: Like other forest eagles, they’ve evolved to be able to maneuver quickly through dense foliage. Their shorter, rounded wings allow them to move at great speeds and turn faster than other flyers. These perks come at a cost, however, as when compared to other fliers like the Argentavis, they lack sufficient stamina. Despite this, they can still fly for longer distances than creatures like Pteranodons and Pelagornis. Perch and Climb: To make up for their lack of stamina, they can perch on structures, vines, and trees. When perched, they can climb up and shuffle down, as well as move from side to side. This locomotion isn’t very fast, but it’s still more movement than what most flyers are capable of when perched. This movement does not drain stamina. Any stamina lost prior to landing will regenerate while perched. Bite: A basic bite/peck. Insulation: Similar to the Direbear, eagles provide insulation when ridden. Screech: A screech that boosts the speed and damage of other fliers. When buffed, flyers will lose stamina at a slower rate. When the eagle screeches, the feathers on its head stick up. Once the bird is grounded, you’ll be given the option to mount it. At this point, the animal will snap out of the snare and begin to fly erratically. You’ll have to hang on and steer while the bird soars and dives. Eventually, the bird will descend and crash to the ground in exhaustion. From this point on, it’s essentially your standard tame. Feed them their preferred foods, mutton and prime fish meat, to ensure fast and effective taming. In the event that things go badly, make sure to bring some parachutes! Found: Within The Unknown and areas around The Unknown Dossier: Common Name: Maip Species: Maip Oxythorax Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: While The Maip Oxythorax hasn't changed its appearance in general size and shape from its prehistoric counterpart. Its biological makeup and nature has completely changed, not only adapting to become immune to the harsh environment of The unknown. But also evolving a new series of organs that allow it to collect, store, process, and release nuclear energy! These organs run along the skull all the way down to the tail. A large portion of its radiation comes from its stomach and whatever it consumes. This predator nears the top of the food chain in its environment with very few contenders that can kill this beast. Those who have encountered this "Unholy Predator" have never lived to tell the tale. With bodies found being torn and dismembered by the predator's sharp blade-like claws. Legends among the tribes tell that this creature will regurgitate radioactive stomach acid onto its victims. Causing them to die from burns and radiation poisoning. Even its bite is believed to cause radiation poisoning from the organs in the skull, acting more like salivation glands, seeping radioactive liquid into the predator's mouth. Domestication: From what I have heard, no one has ever survived an encounter with Maip Oxythorax. But there have been many legends from nearly all the tribes, they say that over a century ago. A small tribe rode an army of Maip Oxythorax into battle against an authoritarian dictator. At one point in the battle, the creatures lit themselves on fire from the amount of radiation and heat that was being emitted yet none of the riders at the end of the battle had a mark or even a singed hair on their head! I have a hard time believing this is all true, but the tribes tell me this is what happened. I don't have any doubts that this creature would be a great battle mount for any warrior from my few sightings of them. But the utility of this creature has my interest peaked. This creature emits so much energy outwards that a whole tribe could run their industrial machinery off of one Maip's energy for decades. If anyone could somehow domesticate one of these, they would have a living generator of clean energy. Features: Radiation Charge Up Bar: A charge up bar that fills up by killing creatures or with charge light, charge energy or with saddle charge batteries, can be used to increase your charge bar of but the less concentrated charge light is slower than killing creatures, more concentrated charge energy or the charge batteries. Radiation Predator Vision (X-Ray filter style): Similar to Snow Owls and Desmodus, the Maip has predatory vision that allows it to clearly see prey at anytime. Passively powers industrial equipment: Lights, industrial equipment and electrical appliances are powered by the Maip at the cost of food. Alternatively with its saddle the Maip can power these structures by converting charge batteries charge into energy for electrical needs. (Alternate setting) Basic Attacks: Claw swipe: Hits twice with each set of claws causing high damage with a full 2.5% bleed effect that occurs over 5 seconds period included, bleed effect resets everytime another claw swipe hits. Has a three second cooldown. Bite: medium damage with 10 second radiation sickness, 1 second cooldown. Stomach Acid Regurgitation (has small AOE attack): Cost 1/4 of the Charge Bar and 400 food (not stamina) to use, the Maip will regurgitate and spew radioactive stomach acid that both causes an Acid Burn debuff for 30 seconds and Radiation Sickness debuff for 20 seconds. Has a 20 second cooldown but has to have at least 1/4 of the charge bar filled. Critical Mass (an AOE attack): (Charge Bar has to be entirely full and has to have been full for at least 15 seconds to use. Has three minute cooldown between uses). After containing maximum charge for long enough time, the Maip can go into Critical Mass which causes the Maip to begin emitting charge light and essentially blow up part of the Ark like a Nuclear Bomb… just kidding about the bomb part. But it will emit high amount of radiation around it for a least a radius distance of 5 fountains. This releases such a high amount of radiation that even the Maip is ignited and goes up in flames for whole duration of the time(this does cause damage to your Maip, however only doing 66% of the normal flame damage), however enemies in the radius distance also get engulfed by flames for ten seconds and causes radiation sickness for 60 seconds. These timer will reset as long as the enemies are in the area of effect. This AOE attack lasts 20 seconds and has a cooldown of three minutes. Aesthetic Roar: It’s an Aesthetic Roar. What did you think you would happen, purple and green fire breath coming out of it. Don’t be ridiculous. Weaknesses: Ice Wyverns and Managarmrs: Both of these cryokinetic creatures can drain the Maip’s Charge Up bar and deal 25% extra damage to Maips. Radiation Immune Creatures: All radiation immune creatures will not take any of the radiation effects of the Maip. However they will still take the fire and acid burn debuffs from those two attacks. Fire Immune Creatures: these will have the same ability to not take damage from the fire debuff of the Maip but still will take the Radiation and Acid Burn debuff. Water: Like the Pyromane, the Maip has a weakness to water in that while in the rain or in water, the Maip’s charge bar will drain though not nearly as much as it would with Managarmrs or Ice Wyverns.
