The Genesis 1 Ocean biome sure is beautiful, isn’t it? It’s a shame the oceans are so neglected in vanilla ARK, with most of the creatures in them being hyper-aggressive bite spammers. So, let’s give it a little boost, shall we? ZCI5250 presents: Rhomaleosaurus aestosalus: the Tidal Torpedo! Dossier: _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Summary: Rhomaleosaurus is a Mid-Late game Momentum-Based Attacker that utilises Whirlpools to launch itself long distances or at targets Main gimmicks: Tidesurfing and Vortex Generation: Both in the wild and when tamed, Rhomaleos can harness the accelerating power of Whirlpools to build up momentum before launching themselves out at high speeds. The buildup of momentum from these whirlpools allows the Rhomaleo to dish out powerful blows, or even just travel long distances quickly. If there are no whirlpools in the vicinity, Rhomaleos are able to generate their own temporary Vortexes for a variety of purposes. These vortexes can either be used to trap animals in place for a short period of time, knock back small animals in the water, or even as launch points for the Rhomaleos to fling themselves at high speed. Tiderider Saddle: The Rhomaleosaurus Tiderider Saddle can be unlocked at level 50 and can be crafted in a fabricator or obtained from Ocean Mission rewards. This saddle includes two Oxygen Tanks on its sides that can supply oxygen to the rider, or be used to create temporary Vortexes. These tanks can be refilled by surfing at the water’s surface for some time, and their capacity scales with the saddle’s quality. The saddle also has a pair of cool handlebars tacked on to help survivors stay on the saddle better. Riders can also expend oxygen from the saddle to initiate assisted swimming, which ignores weight _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Taming: So, you’ve found yourself a decent Rhomaleosaurus and decide to tame it, but don’t know where to start? Fortunately for you, these beasts are a relatively simple tame. Just follow this set of instructions and you’ll be cruising the high seas in no time! Step 1: Approach the Rhomaleo This is the easiest step, as Rhomaleos will not naturally attack you. In fact, if you’re lucky, the Rhomaleo might even swim right up to you out of curiosity! Make sure you have some prime meat at the ready, as you will need it for the next step. Step 2: Entice the Rhomaleo with Food Once you have the Rhomaleo’s attention, simply feed it a chunk of meat. It should be distracted enough by the meat for you to sneakily get on its back. Ideally, you want to straddle the Rhomaleo’s neck, as its cranial horns are ideal for gripping onto. Step 3: Don’t Get Shaken Off As soon as the Rhomaleo notices you get on its back, it will begin to thrash around violently, trying to buck you off. In the process, the Rhomaleo may even swim straight into whirlpools and shoot themselves around to try to dismount you. Whatever you do, Do Not Let Go, as the Rhomaleo will begin to attack you until you feed it once more. Step 4: Repeat Until Tamed Congratulations, you have just tamed a Rhomaleosaurus! Now, what can you do with your new tame? Let’s get into it! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Base Stats: HP: 600 Stamina: 450 Food: 1200 Weight: 300 Torpor: N/A Moveset & Additional Info: - Primary attack (,,) : Bite, base 30 dmg - Primary attack (In Whirlpool) (,,) : Dash, dmg scales with momentum - Secondary attack (,,) : Bubble Wall, no dmg, high knockback - Secondary attack (hold) (,,) : Ensnaring Vortex, base 5 dmg. Damage over time & traps creature in place for a few seconds - C //: Creates a Vortex that lasts 15 seconds, behaves like Gen1 Ocean Whirlpools - (In Whirlpool) Spacebar //: Toggle drifting in Whirlpool - Ctrl // : Toggle assisted swimming - Omnidirectional Movement - Pack buff up to +3 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Final Words Thank you for checking out my submission! The Rhomaleo is one of my oldest ideas (In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s even older than my Darwinopterus!) and I am happy to finally submit it to one of these votes. All the art (besides the ones credited below) and animations you see in this post was made by me, which took a lot of time! If you enjoyed this submission and want to see Rhomaleo grace the seas of Genesis 1… Special thanks to Katana for helping me brainstorm and refine ideas for the Rhomaleo, do go check out his Paleoctopus submission too! Introducing Kronosaurus galactus, the apex predator of the lunar biome. Name: Kronosaurus Species: Kronosaurus galactus Diet: Carnivore Time: Early Cretaceous Temperament: Aggressive WILD: When i thought the pliosaur family couldn't get weirder, with a magical liopleurodon at the bottom of the sea, I see in front of my eyes a lunar biome, and living in it a pliosaur of galactic proportions. Kronosaurus galactus crowns itself as the righful king of this world, with a size only comparable to astrocetus, it feast on anything and everything. It uses a particular way of “hunting” its prey, it ambushes it, you may ask yourself how a creature of such size can ambush anything, well as a sick joke this massive creatures cloaks itself, making the creature almost invisible to the eye, once comuflaged it sits patiently in place, not moving, and when the time is right it opens its mouth creating a vortex that sucks any creature unfortunate enough into its gigantic maw. DOMESTICATED: I suspect this gluttonous creature will bond to anyone who provides it with enough food to sustain itself, you know living in space is hard, and why “hunt” when you can have someone deliver the food right into your mouth. Just locate your desired Kronosaurus, and throw any creatures into its gaping mouth. Once tamed Kronosaurus proves itself as a worthwhile tame. With its massive size and suction abilities it works as a gigantic vaccum cleaner, sucking everything in its path, once Kronosaurus is full, it can even regurgitate everything and launch it as a gigantic furball, the only difference being that the furball is made of semidigested creatures, meat and bones, but don’t get to confident and start suctioning everything, even Kronosaurus has its limits. One interesting thing about Kronosaurus are its digestive fluids, it seems Kronosaurus can control the properties of it as the creature desires. The applications of this fluids are still unknown… Now, lets get into more detail: TAMING: Just as explained in the dossier, to tame one you just need to find one and aggro it. Be careful when traversing the lunar biome with your skiff, a Kronosaurus could be camouflaged waiting for you to pass by in your skiff. Once aggroed, Kronosaurus will start suctioning everything into its jaws, its now when you’ll have to feed it your tames, the bigger the better (Kronosaurus can only eat creatures with a drag weight of 750 or below, this will be explained later). Including inside the inventory of your creatures element or element dust will increase the taming porcentaje. Once tamed, to ride Kronosaurus you´ll need a tek saddle, this saddle just like Astrocetus has a small platform to build on and added weapons. ONCE TAMED: Once tamed, Kronosaurus is a late game that specialises in supporting allies in battle and in raiding high tier bases. Kronosaurus is not as sluggish as Astrocetus, being way faster and way more maneuverable than Astrocetus, but unlike it can’t teleport. Now lets dwelve into its abilities: - Passive: Kronosaurus levitates, just like Astrocetus. - Passive: Kronosaurus has weight reduction, all things stored in Kronosaurus has a weight reduction of 70%. - Left Click: Bite, this attacks deals high damage. - Ctrl + Left Click: Kronosaurus charges a massive bite that deals damage and locks any creature between its jaws, preventing them from moving but not attacking (enemy creature can attack Kronosaurus back), both creatures (including Kronosaurus won’t be able to move), this is due to Kronosaurus massive drag weight that it shares with its close relative the Liopleurodon, 12000. - Space: Suction attack, after creating a vaccum in its mouth Kronosaurus open its jaws (splitting its lower jaw in the process, think of it like a snake or more accurately represented by shin godzilla) creating a giant “whirlpool” that sucks EVERYTHING in front of it, swallowing everything and storing it in its stomach, even allies and enemies, as hinted in the dossier this attack also works as a mining drill, farming materials from a distance and storing them inside the Kronosaurus inventory. Also, it will suck any material dropped by survivors and tames. Once Kronosaurus has swallowed and has creatures or survivors storaged in its stomach you can press right click and let go to regurgigate EVERYTHING (not including items inside Kronosaurus inventory) in a massive ball of acid that deals massive damage and torpor in the area is dropped for a few seconds, but wait, you swallowed your tribemates alongside some enemies, dont worry, pressing X while pressing right click will let you choose if you want to regurgigate only allies or enemies (PRESSING RIGHT DIRECTLY AND LETTING GO WILL REGURGIGATE EVERYTHING). If you put element dust inside Kronosaurus while regurgitating the normal acid ball will become infused with it, losing its ability to deal torpor but gaining the ability to turn off anything electronic and tek in a large area, while also regurgitating anything you had stored in your stomach. And to finish it off, as also hinted in the dossier, Kronosaurus has some interesting digestive fluids, if you have anything stored inside Kronosaurus stomach, allied mounts and survivors will get healed inside Kronosaurus stomach, while enemies will be inflicted by damage overtime inside its stomach. NERFING THIS OVERPOWERED ATTACK: How do I nerf it?, by making Kronosaurus vulnerable when it has to many things stored or when it has something really big inside its stomach. Lets start by adressing the quantity of creatures kronosaurus can store without becoming vulnerable: Creatures with a drag weight up to 100: 20 Creatures with a drag weight between 101 and 200: 10 Creatures with a drag weight between 201 and 275: 5 Creatures with a drag weight between 276 and 500: 2 Creatures with a drag weight between 501 and 750: 1 Kronosaurus has a Storage limit to its stomach only being able to storage up to 20 creatures, being a Good counter to it filling its stomach with small disposable creatures such as dodos and other small creatures. If Kronosaurus storages too much inside its inventory it becomes VULNERABLE, What does this mean??? It means it will become encumbered (even if its weight bar/stat is not completly filled) and will take way more damage from any attack. When can i know if Kronosaurus is vulnerable?? Visually Kronosaurus belly will distent and its fins and frills will glow red (any other visual indicator could also work). So basically, Kronosaurus main appeal to any survivor is its ability to swallow creatures (disabling enemy mounts and survivors or healing and protecting allied mounts and survivors) and its ability to prevent large creatures from moving. Hoped you liked the submission and looking forward to some feedback.
