Cameroceras: A Glowing Multi-Purpose Orthocone
Scout555 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Species: Cameroceras Thalassapyro Time: Middle Ordivician Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild Many survivors including myself have noted the extreme depth of the ocean on this Ark, apparently the western side of the ocean has no end but I seriously doubt if this is true. Many prehistoric marine life dwell in the strange abyss but one of them is significantly more flashier (fishier?) than the others, Cameroceras Thalassapyro. In a lot of ways it is similar to Tusoteuthis Vampyrus in that they are both cephalopods capable of spraying ink but that's where the similarities end for me at least. For one Cameroceras is much smaller that Tusoteuthis (I'd posit around the size of a Dunkleosteus) and well it glows and not just that, it's ink glows. Cameroceras ink seems to have many different properties depending on which colour the Cameroceras decides to glow and it can fire the ink in multiple different ways, either in a single big cloud similar to Tusoteuthis or multiple small bursts it can fire from a distance. Domesticated A tamed Cameroceras can prove to be one of the most useful underwater creatures to have at your (tribe's) disposal. Its large cone-like shell can be used as a big spear to just simply skewer other creatures but that's rarely why survivors tame them. The main reason Cameroceras Thalassapyro is tamed is due to its glowing ink that changes its properties depending on its colour, from what I have seen there are three "modes" Cameroceras can go into "heal" (green), "damage" (red), and "freeze (or just stun)" (cyan). What the ink does in these modes is pretty self-explanatory but as stated before Cameroceras can fire the ink in multiple ways either in a single large cloud or multiple small bursts that can be fired from a distance but I should warn you, Cameroceras is not an infinite well of ink, if too much ink is expelled it will have no ink in its body and will have to speed up its metabolism to make more ink, in non-biologist words when Cameroceras runs out of ink it gets incredibly hungry so make sure you brought a lot of snacks during your dives with this thing. Mechanics Cameroceras is the multi-purpose aquatic creature capable of stunning, dealing damage, and even healing things and its all because of its fancy glowing ink! Cameroceras' basic attacks include a bite and weird cone slam, similar to the Woolly Rhino you can turn this cone slam into a powerful charge attack though not as powerful as the Wooly Rhino's charge attack. Cameroceras can expel ink the same way in all of its modes either in single devastating cloud like the Tusoteuthis or it can fire pellets of the ink from a distance similar to a tek saddle. The three modes are heal (green), damage (red), and freeze (or stun) (cyan). Heal mode heals things that come in contact with the ink, Damage mode, get this, damages things that come in contact with the ink crazy right?, and lastly freeze mode stuns things that come in contact with the ink. Stun mode in particular deserves a somewhat deeper look, the ink bullets don't immediately stun enemies but only after many, many shots. The Single Ink Cloud does instantly stun enemies however. Cameroceras has a unique ink stat, this stat determines how much ink it can expel, when theres no more ink Cameroceras gets a status effect that increases ink replenishing however also making it's hunger drain a bit more. Taming Oops I forgot to add how you tame this thing, uuhhh you let it eat some honey i guess. -
Eomanis- The Cute & Cuddly Living Armor/Backpack!
VII2U5 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Say hello to the most useful shoulder pet- Eomanis! IRL Information________________________________________________________________ Eomanis ("dawn pangolin") is the earliest known true (and scaled) pangolin from extinct family Eomanidae (and extinct superfamily Eomanoidea) within suborder Eupholidota. It lived during the Eocene in Europe. Fossils collected from the Messel Pit, Germany, indicate that this 50 cm long animal was rather similar to living pangolins of the genus Manis, indicating that pangolins have remained largely unchanged in morphology and behavior for 50 million years. However, unlike modern pangolins, its tail and legs did not bear scales. According to the stomach contents of the excellently preserved Messel specimens, Eomanis’ diet consisted of both insects and plants. Utility__________________________________________________________________________ Early game____________ Mid chitin harvesting efficiency: Eomanis could be designed to be efficient at harvesting chitin in big quantities. This would make it a valuable asset in regions where chitin is abundant, such as caves or areas with large insect populations. Craftable cementing paste in Eomanis's inventory: Eomanis could have a unique ability to craft cementing paste directly in its inventory. This would save players the time and effort of having to gather the resources separately and craft them at a crafting station. The crafting speed will be the same as on the chemistry bench Sandstorm immunity: Eomanis could have a natural resistance to sandstorms, making the player and his rideable on land tame immune to the sandstorm event. Eomanis could have the ability to detect hidden water sources in the environment (just like ferox finds element dust) and refill any type of reservoir item, such as water skins or canteens, that are in his inventory. This would be particularly useful for players who are exploring the desert where water is scarce and difficult to find. It would also make Eomanis a valuable companion for long journeys through the wilderness. Mid game_____________ 50% weight reduction for all basic resources when on player's back and 80% reduction when on land or carried by other creatures: Eomanis could also be used as a backpack that reduces the weight of basic resources in its inventory. This would allow players to gather more resources before needing to return to their base, which can be especially helpful in the early game when resources are scarce. You can also easily access Eomanis' inventory within the R radial menu, just like with the Sinomacrops. The Eomanis can be carried by an Argentavis in his beak. This will allow the player to bring more resources back to their base thanks to Eomanis' weight reduction for all basic resources. Eomanis drops a new rare resource "Eomanis' Keratin Plates". Those plates can be used to efficently craft cementing paste: One plate= 200 chitin/keratin. This resource is also used for crafting a new chestpiece "Scale Mail of the Eomanis". This resource drops only when the Eomanis is killed with damge that he can returned back to the attacker, that means that when killed with fire, poison, explosives, or wyvern elemental attacks Eomanis will not drop the resource. Eomanis' long tongue can be used as a whip. This has all the uses of the regular in-game whip but with a longer range, dealing damage to all insect creatures and no stunning. The player can perform this attack with the "Clap" emote. Late game_____________ Doubles armor durability when attached to the player's back: Eomanis could be designed to attach securely to the player's back as a shoulder pet. When picked up, Eomanis could double the durability of all armor tiers except the new chestpiece "Scale Mail of the Eomanis". This will allow the player to use their favorite armor for longer. "Ricochet" is a passive buff for Eomanis. This acts somewhat like Kentro's ability but with a couple of twists: Thе buff is active on any Eomanis, be it wild or tame. It would cause a signifficant damage reduction, with 30% of the damage being returned back to the attacker. This buff can be shared with the player or any tame that the player can ride. Howewer, it is not fully active right away when Eomanis is picked by the player. The damage reduction portion of the buff is always active while wearing any type of armor. but the part with 30% damage return will be active only when the player wears a new chestpiece- "Scale Mail of the Eomanis". The "Ricochet" ability is especially useful in raids. This ability allows you to return damage to buildings, or rather metal turrets, allowing you to break them more efficiently. Eomanis' claws are a deadly weapon when used right. He is able to tear any armor to pieces, like paper. When thrown off the back Eomanis curls up, and if the player's aim is good enough, can cling to a enemy player for a couple of seconds like a Noglin, tearing the armor in the process. After that he will detach from the enemy player in his curled up appearance. Eomanis will remain in this form until a friendly player will approach to disable this form and pick it back up. Forms can be switched at any time whether the player is in combat or safe in his base. Scale Mail of the Eomanis__________________________________________________________ This is a brand new chestpiece that is crafted from "Eomanis' Keratin Plates". The armor's stats are somewhere in between a chithin chestplate and flak chestpiece. This armor has an ineresting ability to repel small and medium agressive creatures when the player treavels on foot. The armor is especially useful for cave exploring. When in combination with an Eomanis the creature repel ability will be disabled in exchange of the rest of Eomanis' "Ricochet" buff. The Scale Mail of the Eomanis is not affected by the Eomanis which means that this armor's durability does not double. Weaknesses_______________________________________________________________________ Eomanis cannot protect you from fire, poison, explosives, or wyvern elemental attacks. In raids, Eomanis can be somewhat countered by Plant Species Z Turrets. They won't deal full damage, but Eomanis won't be able to return the damage. Amargasaurus is the best counter for Eomanis. His armor-piercing spike disables all of Eomanis's abilities while inflicting pre-existing debuffs. Completly useless in boss battles. The player can't pick up the Eomanis when wearing the TEK cestpiece or any chestpiece with the glider wings attachment from Aberration. Taming____________________________________________________________________________ To tame Eomanis, players will need to collect a significant number of armor sets, preferably of high quality, and have a significant amount of health for tanking Eomanis' attacks. They will then need to find and approach Eomani, who will initially be hostile and attempt to attack the player. To begin the taming process, players will need to equip a full set of any armor tier and quality (The higher the quality and the tier the better. For example an apprentice set of riot armor would be the best choice for taming.) and let Eomani attack them. Eomanis can shred through any quality and tier of armor like butter thanks to his sharp claws, so the players will have to constantly replace damaged parts in order not to die and increase the taming efficiency. However, as Eomanis attacks, he gradually becomes less hostile. Once Eomanis has destroyed a certain amount of armor pieces, he will become passive and approach the player, asking for a cuddle or for their favorite treat- сhitin. multipurpose Siamosaurus - The Desert Devil!
Skrylix posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
A unique creature for the scorched desert, Siamosaurus makes a good tame for tribes seeking a powerful and multipurpose creature! Knockout Method: Preferred Kibble: Utility: Siamosaurus is capable of dealing great damage with its claws, having 3 different modes: Red: Bleed effect towards enemies, while also allowing for greater meat harvesting Black: Torpor effect towards enemies, while having 20% resistance to torpor dealt from enemies. This mode can also be used for berry gathering. Blue: Increased attack speed, while also dealing much more damage. This mode can also be used for gathering resources such as stone, metal, and crystal (potentially obsidian?) Default Saddle: Siamosaurus has a unique armored saddle with 2 seats. The back passenger seat holds a built-in crossbow, while the front seat is protected from ranged attacks. Tek Saddle: While not a laser shooting weapon, this Tek saddle is equipped with large reinforced claws, allowing siamosaurus to deal more damage to enemies, as well as having increased melee range (Also contains the two seat system from the default Saddle) -
So i submit Hungarosaurus once again, now with better dossier. I plan this creature to be a early to mid game general multipurpose tame, which is fast but has an unpenetratable back armour. Edit: Here's an useful link: https://magyardinoszaurusz.hu/hungarosaurus-tormai/?lang=en

Once tamed, one can recieve all the Chitin needed. Its a smaller, and more versatile version of the Megatherium, being able to be taken down into caves easier than the formerly said mammal. It lived during the Late Cretaceous epoch, and was similar to the more popular Mononykus, with one claw, and termite eating tendancies. It isn’t ridable, and has low health, but deal decent damage with a stab attack with its claw. It also preforms a jump/pounce attack, but it doesn’t do as much damage. It has major weight reduction to natural rescources, even clay! It can harvest clay from any small rock it comes across. And has a low chance to grind down rocks into sparkpowder upon destroying them. In the wild they are in packs of 7-8 individuals, seeking out Titanomyrma, Meganeura, and other Insects and Arthropods to snack on. They are generally neutral, but if you’re riding an Insect/Arthropod, they will attack. They spawn throughout the entire map, however are not extraordinarily common and only a few pack clusters be found throughout the map. In order to tame them you need to find the alpha of the pack and passive tame it by using chitin, keratin, or clay (along with kibble). After taming the alpha its likely that the rest of the pack will bow down to you more easily, requiring less materials than the alpha. You don’t NEED to tame the alpha first, its just easier that way, as if you want to get all the chitin you want, you need multiple, as they have low health. They are much more relible than Megatherium, as they can carry more chitin, collect more chitin and can be carried by an Argentavis. The stated packs that they spawn in also provide a pack bonus, upping their resistance and damage output. In raids they can be quite the fiesty little guys, a large pack being able to take on a tank creature with ease. Their claws can penetrate through armored animals like Stegosaurus and Carbonemys. They also reduce saddle armor affectiveness by 25%, so putting a pack alongside an Amargasaurus can be quite devastating. In real life: Shuvuuia (pronounced shoo-voo-ee-ah) lived in Mongolia in the Late Cretaceous, hunted termites, and was prey for medium sized carnivores. Their name literally means “bird” with their species name, deserti, meaning “desert,” so, their full name means “desert bird,” hence why I’ve thought it fitting. I would submit a dossier, but sadly I don’t have time, so I would be thankful if a community member could make one! Note: this is going to be slightly bigger than the real life verson. Species name would be Shuvuuia maximus.

Longisquama obscurum - The Shoulder Mounted Pincushion Turret
Interface5 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
The idea, dossier, and concept included in this post were all created by me, I welcome feedback, thoughts and suggestions. (Also if you notice any glaring flaws in the dossier be sure to let me know and I'll fix 'em) Longisquama is a unique reptile that is most notable for the fossils of its frond-like feathers sticking straight out of its back. This specific depiction of longisquama is a love-letter to the inaccuracies for the sake of design seen in so many of arks other dinosaurs, in that it directly references one of the more outlandish reconstructions of longisquama, bare in mind I'm no paleontologist I'm only repeating a few things I've heard over the years. Pitch: ● Early Game Tame, Late Game viability - Everyone loves tames accessible from the start, especially when they are able to maintain relevancy later into the game. I imagine the Longi could be tamed early on, simply get a leach attached to you and have it eat it off you to contribute about a third of the taming bar. The kicker is that to get maximum effectiveness you will have to find a diseased one (The Aberrant variant would simply use lampreys and still gain the full taming effectiveness but not contribute as much to the taming progress). So we've established that it's easy to tame early on but requires late game or at least a lot of effort to get max effectiveness, why put such an emphasis on its potential use in this way? Well I think the benefits the longisquama provides will allow it to be useful into late game just as much as early game. ● Spear Generation: Passively generates quills in its inventory, attempting to fire without any quills in your inventory will quickly generate 10 quills at a heafty cost of stamina stacking beyond ten occurs at a lower rate without consuming stamina and would cap around 50 for a level 30 at 150 for a level 80 and around 250 for a 150 just to get a basic idea. By holding attack with an empty hand and a longi on your shoulder you reach behind you and snatch a quill off its body, this quill will now act as a spear that scales damage based on the longi's mele. Quills cannot actually be taken out of a longi's inventory. With high mele I could see this being comparable to a high quality pike, though I would love some PvP players input on this as I only have an idea of how my ideas will effect balancing from a PvE perspective. ● Low Range Turret - One of the main draws to the Longi is the fact that its essentially a machine gun, In many ways it will function similarly to a shoulder-mounted velonosaur, when manually firing you would use it much, in the same way, gaining a target reticle moving slower and expending stamina to shoot though not nearly to the degree of the velonosaur as in this case you also need to wait for the quills to appear in its inventory again. I would imagine that when it shoots its quills it does additional damage, I see its role as being a last resort type of thing, you are only given so many quills and you want to manage them carefully. (However to make this a versatile tame I think by increasing oxygen you could increase the maximum number of quills in its inventory and would change its role from last resort to a more standard attacker at the cost of some damage output) ● Last Resort - To compound on its role as something that you want to save for dire situations the Longi could receive a decent damage boost when your health dips below a certain point, this would hopefully allow it to make that difference between life and death in deadly situations. ● Reflective armor - This ability could be two-fold: for one after shooting a target it could take some of the damage it deals *its biting and the quills are getting pushed deeper* additionally if a survivor is wearing a longisquama they could also cause damage to be reflected upon taking it from an outside source, I think this could scale with a stat such as just health. ● Watchdog: - The final role of the longi is the auto turret part of it, essentially you set its aggression level and the range before it chooses a target, and it just acts as a turret on your should, if you had a decent level one this would be good enough to give you peace of mind that your not going to be snuck up on by a raptor and killed, even in situations were you havent brought your top teir tames with you, because you already have a pretty decent one on your shoulder. ● Additional details: I could also see the Longi providing insolation buffs and a fall damage reduction for obvious reasons. I also think that it could detect buried creatures like purlovia and reapers to add to their connection to rock drakes eluded to in the dossier and with the implication of them being the source of dna for rock drakes; however I don't think these are necessary for the concept to work, if the longi was feeling too bloated with features these would be the first I would drop, though I dont think anyone would complain from these being included. My main defense of these features being reasonable and not power creep or bloat is they don't majorly detract from other creatures' roles and instead just add a bit of depth to the longi, a dire wolf is still better for finding purlovia, a rockdrake can detect reapers and actually fight them, and archypterx / sino are better gliders. Implementation: So how does the Longi feel in game? I imagine it would be common to forested areas rich in bugs as well as swamps. I think Longisquama would work really well on other maps such as Abberation and Scorched earth, and Extinction's sunken forest, I would love to see these maps get some love. I personally think Aberration especially could benefit from the longisquama, I referenced the rock drake a lot while making the dossier and I can even see the longisquama being a source for the rock drake. Longisquama would be a great source of keratin if you can manage to kill one, which shouldn't be too difficult if you shoot it with arrows after bolaing it, just be sure you don't use a mele weapon. To add a greater threat to messing with this creature i could see it doing a quill burst when attacked at close range, this could also be an ability used by mounted longisquma. Feel free to leave your thoughts and suggestions in the comments, especially if you want to offer a perspective to PvP balancing because I have no idea how to start on that. As for my suggestions towards ensuring this is balanced, It would probably be good to investigate the spawn rate of diseased leaches, to ensure taming one of these at max efficiency is possible. Additionally, I would like to use this post to soapbox about velonosaur receiving a buff to cement its position at the turret mvp as the longisquama is intrinsically meant to be lighter weight and more multifaceted so therefor not quite as good as the dino that is literally genetically engineered by element to be a turret.- 9 replies
