Introducing Hippocampus! – The sea skimming black pearl hunter!
ScorchMH posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
About the Creature: Hippocampus is an extinct type of sea horse that lived 13 million years ago and ate kelp and algae to survive. I’m real life, it was only the size of your hand, but I feel like upscaling it to the size of a carno could work very well We’ve never seen anything quite like this in ark, so it would be right at home in the diverse set of creatures. Especially on the center where the oceans are this vast, you’d want a good mount to explore them. No other map deserves a sea creature more than this one, and this could give the center just the push it needs to actually be played since the proposed abilities would help tribes who are in need of black pearls but don’t quite have the strength to kill alpha mosas. Attacks: Attack One – (LMB) – ranged ink shot. Landing multiple shots would cause a blindness effect like swimming into a tusoteuthis ink trail. A melee attack just doesn’t feel right for a seahorse, there’s nowhere on its body where it can really attack from besides shooting something out of its mouth. Besides, we don’t yet have a fully ranged Dino yet so this could be a nice first. Attack Two – (RMB) – Bubble Blast. Shoot a bubble that could trap smaller fish, maybe up to the size of an angler. Inside and immobilze it. Would be nice for taming, and this could even be used to shoot bubbles over allies or your allies creatures heads, giving them infinite oxygen for a short time. Helping keep the up oxygen for players, so you can help your allies If their scuba gear breaks mid-dive, or help ferry your dinosaurs into those underwater secret bubbles to build bases safely without needing to craft cryopods. Attack Three – (C) – Bubble Dash. Dash far forward and create a wall of bubbles behind you that acts as a wall only players and other Hippocampus could pass through. Certain whales and dolphins do this in real life, blowing columns of bubbles that fish brains perceive as a hard wall so they won’t swim through them, and I felt like incorporating it into this creature would be a perfect fit. This could be used to escape, or to trap potential tames or enemies. Also, no sea creature has a true movement ability besides the mantas jump, which I found strange. Passive Abilities: -By placing 1 oil and 10 silica pearls, you would then be able to select in the radial wheel to convert all pearls, which would turn the resources into a black pearl. Being able to craft them would be a game changer, especially for people who don’t like going in the water much. This would be a great alternative to killing mosas or eurypterids. And it being a sea creatures means it would be limited to maps areas water, balancing it out. Feeding it 10 Silica Pearls in the wild would also cause it to give you a black pearl, since it’s supposed to be a passive creature. This would be cheaper as it wouldn’t cost any oil, but you wouldn’t be able to bring it to your base. -By blinding targets with your ink blast attack, they’ll get a debuff which makes them able to drop black pearls on death. This would only be a chance and would probably not work on coel or pirhanas, so you’d need to target actual creatures and not be able to break it while still being able to farm black pearls through combat. I can see one player riding a Hippocampus and another on a Megalodon or Plesiosaur to farm black pearls efficiently. -when riding a Hippocampus, you can do bubble dashes to gain short bursts of speed. Another method of travelling, It would be able to skim across the water when travelling at the surface, making it much much faster. I envision it becoming some sort of jet ski, or like those sea dragons from Avatar 2. Being able to be the fastest water creature but only while at the surface would balance it. -The Hippocampus would have a weight reduction on both black pearls and silica pearls, as well as being alerted when close to either, similar to how a rockdrakes feathers perk up when it’s close to a reaper. How to Tame a Hippocampus: To tame a Hippocampus, the player will need to throw Silica Pearls on the floor. When the Hippocampus begins to eat the Silica, the player can ride it. While riding, the player will need to turn on the designated arrow that is indicated In a little minigame, pretty much the same method as an Andrewsarchus. They would be found basically all over the oceans, mostly in the shallows or could be seen skimming across the sea surface. Since the Center is more than 50% Ocean, I feel like this creature is a perfect fit for the map. The oceans are long overdue for an upgrade or a real reason to go out there, and black pearl hunting made easy would make this the perfect reason. The oceans have always been one of my personal favourite aspects of ark, but I always felt like the diversity of creatures was not nearly enough. Please vote for the Hippocampus!!- 27 replies

Lunaophis aquaticus the giant sea snake
Pollosovietico21 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive

Zalophus japonicus - Japanese sea lion
ApocalypseGal posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Name: Japanese sea lion Species: Zalophus japonicus Time: 1970’s Diet: Carnivore/Piscivore Temperament: Friendly, Playful Sea lions are known by their exterior ear flaps, their long fore flippers, and a big chest and belly. They have a thick layer of short fur that covers a thick layer of blubber which keeps them warm in the sea. Wild: You will be able to spot these aquatic mammals spending there day relaxing on the ark’s beaches/coasts or swimming through the sea hunting for their desired food, they these versatile hunters can be found hunting alone or in packs, they are able to catch fish and other small marine creatures at ease. They are very playful social animals you may even see them playing with each other, you might even spot them swimming and playing with the dolphins. I have heard from other tribes that they are so friendly that they would even swim right up and try to befriend you. I also heard stories about how these creatures have been spotted saving those at sea. These sealions have adapted to be agile, not only are they able to navigate the sea at great speed just like the Ichthyosaurus, but they too can move decently on land also. Domesticated: Once you have tamed one, they become a valuable companion, there swimming abilities make them an excellent water exploration mount. They seem to be able to sense when people are in danger and are quick to notify and aid those in need. over time they create oil just like the basilo/tuso. Abilities and features these are just some of the idea’s I had imagined for some features of Zalophus. Lifeguard: this would be a sense allowing them to detect when a survivor is in low in oxygen and in danger. Breath of fresh air: Zalophus can blow bubbles which will replenish survivor’s oxygen, giving them that extra time to make it to the surface. Air/healing bubbles: a separate ability when they spin/splash about in the sea creating air bubbles with a range around Zalophus, these air bubbles could act providing air to multiple survivors/tames for a period of time within the bubble range, it could also have a healing affect within that range and only for this ability. Insulation: Since their body is made up of thick blubber with an added layer of short fur to keep them warm, I think they should be able to provide a insulation to keep survivors warmer in the cold sea Shock resistant: since they have thick blubber it could make them resistant to the shocks of eels and jellyfish. Oil supply: naturally generates oil after a period of time. agile swimmers: are incredibly fast and can navigate the sea very well. pack boost: with other sealions/Ichthyosaurus. Perform: They are able to preform a clapping animation that gives passive xp to nearby dinosaurs. Behavior: The sea lions are not aggressive until they are attacked, they are super friendly and will even approach survivors. If attacked, they can fight back by biting or with a fin/tail thump. Drops: Raw Meat Raw Prime Meat Oil Blubber Taming: Since they are so friendly and playful One must first toss them a fish to feed them and start the taming process, afterwards you must swim alongside them (either freely alongside them or mounted kind of like the Equus/diplocaulus but maybe with one had around them swimming with them) and repeat the process, until you have tamed your very own sealion. DOSSIER - Name: Stomatosuchus Inermis Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Semi-Aggressive WILD Stomatosuchus can be found in the Mushroom Forest, River Valley, The Fallen Nexus & Crystalline Swamps in Aberration. Its diet consists mostly of fish however it may prey on smaller dinos if necessary. Despite its large size, it's still frequently preyed on by larger crocodilians and some large theropods. If provoked, the stomatosuchus will attack the survivor, possibly trying to swallow it whole. TAMING To tame a Stomatosuchus, the survivor must passively feed it dead fish, similar to an otter. The survivor must wait for it to go to land and fall asleep, which is when the survivor must feed it. Fish with larger sizes will boost the taming effectiveness and speed up the taming process. DOMESTICATED Stomatosuchus doesn't need a saddle to ride on, however it does contain natural armour similar to a shadowmane. This creature is also very fast in water, almost being as fast as a Sarcosuchus. The Stomatosuchus possesses a powerful Giga-Bite that may be charged up while holding down it's primary attack. Stomatosuchus also has the ability to swallow smaller creatures and even survivors. Stomatosuchus is especially effective at helping the survivor obtain fish baskets. Fish will passively swim up to the Stomatosuchus where the survivor can easily trap them. Once tamed, the fish can then be stored in the Stomatosuchuses throat pouch and released when in another body of water. SADDLE Stomatosuchus doesn't need a saddle to ride on but if you wanna fight against any high level Creatures or Bosses then you must have to unlock it's unique Armoured Saddle at level 85 and this saddle is equipped with Two Automatic Turrets, Need Advanced Rifle Bullets and Gasoline to use the Turrets. Equipped with the Armoured Saddle on Stomatosuchus, then it is also 100% immune to weather effects. Finally, While you riding Stomatosuchus into the underwater, then you don't need scuba tank or else because Stomatosuchus will give you 100% oxygen into the underwater without sacrificing of its health or anything. And Stomatosuchus is 100% immune to Electricity & Aberration Gas radiation because of it's own Armour without saddle. Stomatosuchus can produce Gas balls inside its throat pouch.
