  1. Ive found a downloaded the About a Boy and the Deathrattle fonts for my dossier but I can't seem to open them with the GIMP software I'm using? And ideas out there?
  2. Orcinus citoniensis – wolf of the sea Dossier: Common Name: Killer Whale Species: Orcinus citoniensis Time: Late Pliocene Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Loyal Wild: Orcinus citoniensis is mostly seen among the ark’s shallow waters. Some tribes even call them wolfs of the sea, which is a very accurate title if you ask me. Thanks to Orcinus citoniensis intelligence and speed it is an excellent hunter and is definitely the apex predator in its habitat. It developed special hunting strategies to take down creatures much larger than itself. Even the brutal megalodon or the fearsome mosasaurus are no match for an Orcinus Family. Besides hunting Orcinus citoniensis is a very playful animal and tries to interact with humans or smaller animals whenever it can. Especially young animals try to sneak away from their mother just to play with tribes near beaches or rafts. That’s how humans are gaining their trust in the process. Domesticated: Once tamed Orcinus citoniensis is the perfect mount for traversing the oceans and all of its secrets. It is a very fast swimmer and can adept even in the most dire situations. This feature makes it a must have for any sea-based tribe. Due to its social nature, it sometimes takes care of babies of other species. Creatures raised by Orcinus citoniensis tend to be more powerful and smarter than its relatives. That aspect makes even bigger tribes think twice before attacking a tribe which has access to Orcinus citoniensis. Taming: Young Orcinus that swim around beaches or rafts can be passive tamed by playing with them. Orcinus will try to come closer to your survivor and ask for a special item. Depending on the item you need to activate a specific emote in front of the young whale. If it worked the whale jumps out of the water and after some time it asks for the next item. Those items could be trophy drops like Tusoteuthis Tentacle, Megalodon tooth and Basilosaurus blubber or just food like kibble and honey. Abilities: Aquatic Nanny: After some feedback I decided to remove the nanny ability completely since we are getting gigantoraptor with Ragnarok anyway. I added a XP sharing ability to still have something that interacts with young creatures. XP Sharing: Adult Orcinus can share their gained XP with young creatures. If Orcinus reaches a certain amount of XP, it can interact with a baby for a short period of time to transfer some of its XP. The baby getting imprinted in the process. The fully grown-up baby now gets levels based on the amount of XP the Orcinus transferred. This would give it a unique Ability to interact with babies since Gigantoraptor will be the ultimate nanny. So Orcinus could be more like a teacher for young animals. Hunting: Every Orcinus citoniensis can be specialized with a trophy drop. Feeding Orcinus citoniensis a Tusoteuthis Tentacle will give them damage buffs against Tusoteuthis (temporarily). This works with every other trophy drop as well. Megalodon tooth = Megalodon Tusoteuthis Tentacle = Tusoteuthis Basilosaurus Blubber = Basilosaurus Alpha Leedscthys Blubber = Alphas and leedscthys Alpha Mosasaur tooth = Alphas and Mosasaurus Alpha Tusoteuthis Eye = Alphas and tusoteuthis Alpha Megalodon Fin = Alpha and megalodons Ammonite Bile = Ammonites Bio Toxin = Eels and jellyfish Chitin = Dunkleo and eurypterid Etc. Orcinus citoniensis also gets a pack buff like direwolfs or the allosaurus. The pack leader also inflicts a small debuff, where other animals in the pack deal a bleed affect, or just extra damage after hitting the same target as the pack leader. Ambush: Orcinus can ambush out of the water and try to grab a nearby flyer or animal near the beach. Successful grabbed creatures now get dragged back into the water. The grabbed creature will lose oxygen if it tries to escape Orcinus bite. For this ambush Orcinus is able to leave the water and beach itself for a short period of time. (It could work like Xiphactinus from AA) Echolocation: After some feedback in the comments, I decided to build a useful ability around echolocation. Thanks to AudioDK and Gecko1611 for giving me this idea. Orcinus will be able to send an echo into the water. If Orcinus has no trophies in his inventory it will mark any creature nearby that could drop trophies and will collect them more efficiently after killing those creatures. After consuming a trophy and sending an echo it will mark any creature in a wider radius that would be affected by the damage buff of the Orcinus. Orcinus will be able to see its level and health to decide if it wants to attack or not. After killing a specific number of creatures within the buff timer, Orcinus will be able to convert all the farmed trophy drops and make it into a blueprint. (Rarity depends on the amount Orcinus was able to collect during the timer) Orcinus could also locate cave or deep sea drops nearby with its echolocation, making it a valuable creature for underwater caves. Outside of the Cave it could mark the deep-sea crate which is spawning on the map with an arrow pointing into the general direction. So it’s more like a hunt for the drop rather than an accurate position reveal. Drops found with this ability could get a buff in loot quality. Immobilizing Sound: As in the comments mentioned by PrimalNacho, Orcinus could have a call that immobilized and could be disorienting the target. Unmounted and wild creatures would be stunned for a short amount of time while other players or mounted creatures may have their controls switched. (I don’t know much about Ark PvP, but I can imagine this being very useful) I think this would lead to some random but also funny moments. Attacks: Left Click: Bite Attack Right Click: Tail Attack, that stuns the target for a short time, while the Orcinus turns around for a fast escape. Space bar (near surface): Orcinus jumps out of the water. If near a beach or a flyer like Pelagornis is above Orcinus it starts the ambush attack. Pressing Ctrl: Echolocation Pressing X: Send out the Immobilizing Sound. This ability has a cooldown. Pressing C : Orcinus citoniensis consumes a random trophy out of its inventory to activate the hunting buffs. This ability also has a cooldown. And that’s my submission for Center. A friendly but also strong creature in the ocean is something that is needed. Additionally, I think a killer whale would just perfectly fit into the ocean of Center.
  3. Submission Updated : 7/13/2023 We've expanded upon some ideas to be more informative and give the creature a more unique take while remaining true to the original idea, please give our submisssion another read and tell us what you like and give us feedback on what you think might need changes, most new informatrion can be found in the extra information section Introduction Our Small Team has been lovingly working on this ever since it was announced each map would have a creature vote, after Months Working on and waiting to the Aberration Creature Vote to Start we are excited to present our Passion Project, Introducing The Chimerarachne Yingi Dossier Artwork Credit to Gemixyy Chimerarachne Yingi Dossier: When I first laid my eyes on Chimerarachne Yingi, I wanted to nope right out of its lair. It is an arachnophobe’s nightmare, with a long, coiling tail, eight legs, and fangs from hell. After studying it from a safe distance, I found that it is an ambush predator with a rather unique Hypnosis Ability that it uses to lure in its prey. It seems almost impossible for the prey to resist the strobing, bioluminescent glow. Once in its clutches, the Chimerarachne weakens the unfortunate creature with a potent venom that is produced from a gland in its tail, and the creature finally succumbs. Chimerarachne Yingi wasn't all that large in the fossil record, so seeing it monster-sized leads me to believe that there was Genetic Tampering, or perhaps rapid evolution from this Ark's highly irradiated depths. Domesticated: Despite its terrifying appearance and behavior, Chimerarachne Yingi is invaluable as a mount to get from point A to point B. With the ability to climb almost any surface and create a zipline-like web, it is a versatile companion. It can weave a net from its strong silk, using it to entrap and carry even much larger creatures. Use Chimerarachne’s impressive jump and clinging abilities to navigate tough terrain, or utilize its hypnosis ability to help get you out of a jam. This beast is not for the faint of heart. As it turns out, these arachnids make amazing mothers despite their terrifying looks. They take care of their young, producing a substance much like mammalian milk to nourish their spiderlings (or should they be called chimeralings?). Growing chimeralings crave this substance as they grow. Rich in nutrients like protein and fat, this spider milk can be fed to carnivores to induce a healing effect, much like veggie cakes in herbivores, making it a much-coveted material. So Why this Creature? Aberration is the definition of a strange alien world, its scary and unsettling, and to go with that we present you the Chimerarachne Yingi. Lurking in the blue depths of this alien world this creature would fit perfectly into this map. but looks arent everything this beast has an ability like no other, making it a great contender in our eyes for this map. honestly aberration needs another mobility mount that can climb walls as well since the rock drake which is a late game creature is the only aberration creature that can do so on the map, and the chimerarachne will fill in that void while also not out performing the The Rock Drake's Mobility. basic attack (Bite animation) Hold Main Attack - Heavy attack that inflicts Heavy Damage (Tail Stinger Animation) Tap Secondary Attack - Toggles Climbing Hold Secondary Attack - Enters a Precision Web Shooter Mode with 3 different types - Tap Main attack while in mode to shoot - hit third attack while in web shooter mode to switch ammo type - Hold Main attack in mode while looking at netted creature to pick up creature in net - tap secondary attack to exit web shooter mode Third Attack - Hypnosis Attack Jump Button - Performs a small Jump Hold Jump Button - Performs a Powered Jump Females Produce Spider Milk used to raise Chimeralings and Heal Carnivores Can Harvest Black Pearls and Silica Pearls at a higher efficiency Saddle Doubles as Smithy, Unlocked at level 54 Chimerarachne has 60% weight reduction on Metal, Crystal, Obsidian, Black Pearls, Silica Pearls, Red/Blue/Green Gems, Oil and Stone Extra Information - Would like to Note all these are just suggestions and I don't expect the devs to use them all The Design We know the design is very far off from the original look of the creature but that is intentional and here's why Aberration has that Alien, Scary, and Creepy Factor to the Map and this extends to it's unique Creatures, so when we chose the Design we went heavy on those 3 words to keep with aberrations theme, some of you may be bothered by this but we believe that the design fits perfectly into Aberration's aesthetic, but we also kept the general features of the real world creature, as for the two big eyes which I've been asked about on the rear of it's back those are the fake eyes used for the Hypnosis, and the dossier depicts the stance it uses when using the ability, now we're aware the devs will not use the the design we chose most likely anyways but Our Artist Gemixyy has said she'd be happy and OK with it if the devs did use the design Behavoir in the Wild Adult Males tend to hang around Adult Females until they're given a Male Egg to take care of Wild Adult Females will be very agressive to one another especially when males are present and will fight eachother for mating rights and will fight to the death, this behavior doesn't translate to tamed Females Wild Juvinille Chimeralings will attempt to pounce on smaller creatures and survivors for fun as a way to practice their Hunting Skills, you can counter this with glowsticks as it will send the babies scattering from the light, the actual pouncing doesn't damage you but could distract you long enough for an adult to sneak up on you, (Note: I know Arachnophobes are really gonna hate this particular behavior and I'm Kind of sorry, but it's only a suggestion) The Size In reality this guy was rather small only 5.5 millimeters in length, yeah not really a big creature, but that hasn't stop Ark from Scaling up creatures so Our Chimerarachne will be a little smaller the the Karkinos when not including the tail Expanded Abilities information We Carefully Chose Each Ability to be strong but not over powered, some abilities are unique some are not Bite Attack - Just your Basic Standard Attack Nothing Special Tail Stinger Attack - a Heavier Attack that also inflicts Venom Damage over a short time period of time, just to add a little salt to the wound Wall Climbing Ability - just the ability to scale walls and other climable surfaces, climbing is fairly quick but it ain't winning any races against the Rock Drake Web Shooter Modes - Poison Web Bombs, Netgun, and Zipline - Poison Web Bombs deal a decent amount of damage upon impact with target and small amounts of lingering poison damage afterwards for 5 seconds (This Web Shooter Mode is used when a Chimerarachne it set to turret mode) - The zipline is just like setup with a crossbow shoot once for starting point shoot again for end point, the web zipline will last 5 minutes before decaying - Netgun allows you to net creatures wild or tamed and survivors, and it will start a 60 second timer the net decays, however unlike the netgun from genesis the chimerarachne can use it's powerful tail to pick up a netted creature or survivor for transport which will pause the timer (Note: Timer does not pause and timer is halved for enemy tamed creatures and enemy survivors, survivors can also use a sharp tool to break free of net) Chimerarachne can net and pick up any creature that the Karkinos can pick up Hypnosis Ability - This can affect Survivors and Tames, Suvivors can break free through and on screen mini game, Smaller Tames will be drawn towards the Chimerarachne but you can shoot it to break the Spider's focus on your tame, Larger Creatures will just be stunned for a few seconds, (there is a cooldown before a survivor or tame can be affect by hypnosis again) Chimerarachne can jump far distances like the Karkinos and Reaper can, and can be use to jump from wall to wall when climbing Female Chimerarachne will convert Raw Meat into Spider Milk Male Chimerarchne act as egg incubators for Chimera Eggs (This could extend to all eggs if the devs are down for such a feature) Can collect Pearls and Black Pearls at a higher efficiency like the angler can (Warning: Chimerarachne isn't the best swimmer but cannot be dismounted or stunned by jellyfish and Eels but will still take damage from those attacks) 60% weight reduction - Due to Chimerarachne's Strength it's able to carry the following Metal, Crystal, Obsidian, Black Pearls, Silica Pearls, Red/Blue/Green Gems, Oil, and Stone at a reduced weight making it a great resource Hauler, can help carry even more resources on your double ankys and crab resource runs Chimerarachne's Saddle - Doubles as a Smithy considering there is no smithy saddle on Aberration Taming Method Taming Methods are different depending on the gender of the Chimerarachne Male Method - A Wild Chimerarachne Male will be carrying a Male Chimera egg with them if they have spent some time near a female Chimerarachne, the level of the Egg is decided by the level of the male carrying the egg, to get the egg from the Chimerarachne you have to get it to use it's Hypnosis Ability on you 5 times while using a new Item called a Mirror Shield which you will use to reflect the Hypnosis right back at the Male, after 5 times the Chimerarachne will have dropped it's egg where you can run over and grab it, then you need to return to base and hatch the egg Male Chimeralings do not require Spider Milk to reach adulthood and can live off just Meat but they will not be as powerful as they would be if they got the Spider Milk Female Chimerarchne - To Obtain a Female Chimera Egg which will show you the level of the egg when looking at it, you must find one in the wild seemingly sitting there for the taking, however it's not that simple as you'll find out the the egg is firmly attached to the ground by webbing, interacting with the egg will start a battle similar to how you start the OSDs on Extinction, but instead of Waves you are going up against a very angry Chimera Mother, which Chimera Mothers are their own special non tamable variant that only spawn during this fight and she is huge compared to average Chimerarachnes, before you even see her she'll let off a blood curdling scream of Rage that will cause almost any tame of yours to run out of range of the arena now surrounding the egg which will be indicated by a radius marker, bigger creatures like Rock Drakes, Spinos, Basilisks, and Reapers won't run in fear but the Chimera Mother will stun these creatures with her Hypnosis for the duration of the fight instead before appearing, then as she appears she'll do an somewhat Cinematic Animation dropping down from above, when she lands creatures still in the arena will be thrown out by an AOE Push, Survivors are not affected by the push but if a survivor is standing where she lands they will be killed immediately, you will find that your creatures cannot be ridden or commanded by whistles for the duration of the fight as they'll be stunned or too scared to come to your aid, there are three ways to end this fight, the 1st and easiest way is to run out of the arena border which will cause the chimera mother to run off but she'll be taking the egg with her losing your chance to obtain the egg, All participating Survivors Dying would be the 2nd Option this will cause the Chimera Mother to despawn and you'll have to start over, the 3rd option it to fight and Kill the Chimera Mother, which won't be all that easy even with high quality gear as she is a sort of mini boss with a lot of health, once the fight is over your tames will no longer be scared and can be ordered and ridden again, and you will have access to the Egg which you can take home with you, don't forget to loot the spider milk from the dead chimera mother as you'll need it to raise your new female, you will also need an Adult Chimerarachne Male to incubate the female egg (Note: Cryopods cannot be used during the fight so you can't cheese it) The Lore behind the Taming Methods - Chimerarachne is Female-dominant species, therefore male offspring/eggs are cast out by the mother to be raised by the father, While she spoils her female offspring and upon "sexual maturity" females must leave their mothers territory or end up fighting her Once you have a Breeding Pair Once you have a breeding pair you'll need to give the Female Raw Meat so she can convert it to spider milk for new Chimeralings Eggs produced by the your Female will only be incubated by a Male Chimerarachne which can hold up to 6 eggs at a time and will have a UI similar to the Egg Incubator for viewing stats, mutations, and colors New Female eggs are very rare to get, You will get male eggs for the most part Q&A - Ever since we uploaded the submission we've had a few common questions so we'd like to answer them Here Q: Is this Going to be another Overpowered Bug like the Rhyniognatha? A: Short Answer is No, while Chimerarachne is significantly scaled up like the Rhyniognatha was, it does not have Overpowered Abilities like the Rhyniognatha got, Chimerarachne is a Mobility/Utility Mount with Mid Tier Combat Capabilities, further more Chimerarachne Yingi isn't meant to out preform aberration's endgame creatures like the Rock Drake, Reaper, or Basilisk. Q: Where do Chimerarchne Spawn on the Map? A: You will find them in the Blue Zone of the Map, sometimes wandering into the edges of the red and green zones. Q: Is Chimerarachne Radiation Immune? A: Yes, but there is a downside to them being exposed to Radiation, they get a debuff on damage resistance and damage output, this is mainly to make it so getting a rock Drake Egg with a Chimerarachne is still a High Risk High Reward challenge despite their wall climbing ability which is a little bit of a slower speed than the Rock Drake's wall climbing speed, we didn't want to ruin the challenge of getting your 1st drake egg completely with the addition of this creature. Q: Why should I vote for this over the other submissions? A: I can't force you to vote for My Submission and you're free to vote for the other submissions, all I can do is try to sell you on the Idea with my presentation. Q: How does the Hypnosis Ability Work? A: Basically the Hypnosis causes your screen to have an affect and you lose control of your character as the Chimerarachne draws you closer into striking distance, you can break free of the affect with an on screen mini game, when your smaller tames are affected they'll also be drawn in but you can shoot the Chimerarachne to break it's focus on your tame, your larger tames will be stunned for a few seconds, for balancing reasons there will be a cooldown before a survivor or tame can be affected by the hypnosis again. Q: Is there any Creature that is Immune to the Hypnosis? A: While nothing is Immune to the Non Tamable Chimera Mother Variant's Hypnosis, Yes Reapers, Basilisks, Gigas, Carchas, Brontos, Titanosaurs, Alphas, Bosses, and Any Water Tame is Immune are Immune to normal wild and tamed variants of the Chimerarachne Real World Information and Source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimerarachne Chimerarachne is a genus of extinct arachnids, containing a single species Chimerarachne yingi. Fossils of Chimerarachne were discovered in Burmese amber from Myanmar which dates to the mid-Cretaceous, about 100 million years ago. It is thought to be closely related to spiders, but outside any living spider clade.[1] The earliest spider fossils are from the Carboniferous, requiring at least a 170 myr ghost lineage with no fossil record. The size of the animal is quite small, being only 2.5 millimetres (0.098 in) in body length, with the tail being about 3 millimetres (0.12 in) in length. These fossils resemble spiders in having two of their key defining features: spinnerets for spinning silk, and a modified male organ on the pedipalp for transferring sperm. At the same time they retain a whip-like tail, rather like that of a whip scorpion and uraraneids. Chimerarachne is not ancestral to spiders, being much younger than the oldest spiders which are known from the Carboniferous, but it appears to be a late survivor of an extinct group which was probably very close to the origins of spiders. It suggests that there used to be spider-like animals with tails which lived alongside true spiders for at least 200 million years. 4. Icthyovenator, Phantom of the Deep Icthyovenator laosensis “Fish Hunter” Early Cretaceous (Aptian), Approx. 125 - 113 MYA Spawns: Red Zone waters, and Green Zone waters. Neutral until hungry A Spinosaurid from Laos with an immense appetite and wonderfully horrific, endless throat pouch to go with it. Wild: As if Baryonyx and Spinosaurus were not able to rule enough of the waterways, Icthyovenator has made its place in the ecosystem right where they have not. These spinosaurids are surprisingly placid compared to their cousin, only becoming aggressive when it comes time to feed. Should something disturb their meal, or something more appetizing show itself, Icthyovenator will quickly change course. Though it isn’t like it needs to do anything in order to catch itself something different. The strange sounds it is able to make can surely lure just about any creature, I’m convinced. Domesticated: If one can brave Valguero's treacherous rivers and overcome the prospect of setting fish into the water for Icthyovenator to snap up, they would find themselves with, probably, the best aquatic mount for traversing the many rivers and lakes of Valguero. The unique properties of the throat sac allow for a wide variety of utilities, including both solidification of liquid elements and condensing of gas! The singing also allows for the gathering of large amounts of fish meat. Combined with Icthyovenator’s speed and power, there’s very little that can challenge this steed in Valguero's deepest depths. Attacks Left click: Bite Hold right click: Start suction R: Change target creature ammo C : Spit X: Start/Stop song Ctrl: Swallow - Bite has a turnaround similar to Sarco. - Bite speed is similar to Carno. - Decent land speed, both walking and running. - Fast underwater but not agile. - Holding C can aim the spit better. Singing The Icthyovenator has a lovely bellow it is able to produce that sounds similar to a tuba mixed with an alligator’s territorial bellow. You can use X in order to start (and stop) this song, which brings you into a minigame much like the Mammoth’s. While playing, the Icthyovenator will start to lure in creatures around it. The better you play, the bigger creatures you can attract! Better songs will also slightly increase the range. When under the effects of the song, creatures become passive as if they were being lured by bee honey. Other details about their singing: - Throat lights up when singing. - Attracts wild fish, making them easier to net, trap, or kill. *Wild Icthyovenators can only lure aquatic creatures. Suction Another feature of Icthyovenator is their suction ability. This goes into their fish-slinging ability later but has other features that could come in handy. When used on fish, manta rays, angler fish, and other small creatures, the Icthyovenator sucks them up and stores them in its gullet, much like a regular fish trap (but without the spoil timer). The size (drag weight) and amount of creatures it can store are dependent on the Icthyo’s own weight stat. The Icthyo can choose to either spit out or swallow any creatures in its throat. If it swallows something with items in its inventory, the items will appear in the Icthyo’s inventory. Other details about their suction: - Can be used on dropped items and bags. - Can be used on many different liquids. - Some items and creatures sucked up can be swallowed (CTRL) for different effects. - Effects for swallowing: — Fish: Healing (similar to Argentavis). — Angler Fish: Gives angler gel. — Water: Hydrated status. — Liquid Element: Solidifies into Element Shards. — Narcotics/Biotoxin: Temporary tranquilizing bite. *Icthyo cannot swallow as many things as it can use for slinging. Effects can easily be added. - Swallowing Trilobites and Eurypterids has a higher drop rate of silica/black pearls from them but gives less Chitin. Fish Slinging Icthyovenator’s offensive capability is not to be shrugged off. With certain items and creatures available, the Icthyo is able to launch them out of its mouth as a projectile. Each projectile has a different effect. - Liquid Element: Projectile that deals DoT when hit with it. - Angler gel: Flammable, glowing puddle. Leaves target glowing. - Fish: Simple projectile. - Manta Ray: Temporary stun. - Water: High knockback projectile. - Nameless Venom: Gives rabies when directly hit, leaves puddles that can lure Rock Drakes. - Gas ball/Gas vent: Suffocating smoke grenade. - Narcotics: Tranquilizing projectile. - Players: Simple projectile. Taming To tame the Icthyovenator sounds like an easy task but, in reality, it is more challenging than you would expect. Simply grab a fish basket filled with delicious fish and wait until the Icthyovenator starts “singing”. Once it starts, release the tamed fish into the water where it is starting to lure other wild fish. The Icthyo will eat the fish and taming will progress! The amount of taming it gives depends on the species and size of the fish you give the Icthyo. Coelacanth gives the least, then Piranha, Sabertooth Salmon, and finally, Anglerfish give the most. Other details about taming: - The Icthyovenator will start to drool just before it’s about to sing so you have time to place the food. - While Icthyo is neutral when it wanders, they grow aggressive during feeding times and will quickly turn on you if you get too close. Ghillie is recommended! - Feeding Icthyo an Anglerfish will leave it glowing and confused, but satisfied! This allows you more time to get away from it. 5. Common Name: Hatzegopteryx Species: H. kavoratrogon Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Insectivore Temperament: Neutral Wild: Adapted to subterranean caverns, Hatzegopteryx kavoratrogon can be found climbing around the giant roots of the Luminous Marshlands. It has developed a taste for creepy crawlies of all shapes and sizes and behaves aggressively toward them. Otherwise despite its nightmarish appearance this flightless pterosaur is actually quite docile unless provoked. Although reaching a wild Hatzegopteryx in its natural habitat can be physically tricky, the creature's calm demeanor means it can be safely approached and fed chitin or, more effectively, alpha karkinos claws to earn its loyalty. Domesticated: Hatzegopteryx specializes in hunting bugs, crushing them easily and feeding exclusively on chitin. Its powerful beak is especially effective against karkinos, able to use well-aimed strikes to knock them unconcious with similar effectiveness to a catapult. Rumor has it that this ability is also effective for knocking out golems as well! Hatzegopteryx' pick-like forelimbs enable it to scale verticle surfaces with relative ease. This could almost certainly come in handy when trying to snatch those pesky high-up rock drake eggs! Unfortunately its wing membranes have become too vestigial to support so much as gliding let alone powered flight. Although Hatzegopteryx is not semiaquatic per se, it can swim well enough to hunt its karkinos prey. Artist's Notes: This design leans into the now-disproven hypothesis that Hatzegopteryx may have been flightless. I thought it was still a fun idea to experiment with especially in the context of Aberration. I wanted an alternative method to karkinos taming, as messing with catapults or cannons can be resource-intensive and finicky. I've been sitting on this concept for over a month and am excited to finally showcase it! Thank you for checking my idea out and I hope it earns your vote. Community Suggestions: ~If transferred to other maps, this Hatzegopteryx would have an unlockable tek saddle that would equip it with artificial wings and restore its ability to fly.
  6. Hi, i am the mole king. But I'm not here to talk about myself. Aberration is my favorite map, and as my favorite map, I'm delighted to contribute a new creature to it. Without further ado, I present to you: Necrolestes Patagonensis. Dossier: Common name: Necrolestes (Big mole) Species: Necrolestes Patagonensis Time: Early Miocene Diet: Insectivorous Temperament: Territorial Domesticated: Taming these creatures, it's not an easy job, their size and temperament don't help. But once get this solved, they become a fundamental part o transport and defense. Survivors use them as a safe method o fast transportation, safely gathering resources. I have also been able to see howw a large group of survivors use them to catch other creatures, without risking much and finish them off in a short time. Wild: Being a very territorial species, I had the fortune or missfortune to see these beings in the distance. And they are not at all like the little moles, i was used to se or their cousin the naked mole rat. I saw how a group attacked, a Karkinos who mistakenly stepped on their burrow, immediately catching him and attacking, from various directions so quickly taht it's scary. Without a doubt, the necorlestes are very aggressive species. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aberration is a map that we consider to have undergone an accident, and certain creatures have changed drastically due to the liquid element and radiation. This is also the case with this animal. When this happened, they had to dig deeper to avoid powerful predators such as Karkinos, among others. And unknowingly, several of them came into contact with the element, fighting among themselves, leaving only the largest ones. One of the females underwent a more drastic mutation, and the species adopted a eusocial system ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eusociality which is actually a real behavior that naked mole rats have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_mole-rat ) Creating huge burrows that function around the female (or queen). Problems they solve: Aberration is already a complex map, especially at the beginning before obtaining a Rock Drake. The Necrolestes is a solution to escape, travel, or attack depending on the situation. · Crossing the rivers of Aberration is very dangerous, but what if you could simply pass underneath your enemies quickly without being detected? · What can I do if I accidentally wake up a Basilisk and I don't have anything powerful to defend myself with? What if I could dig faster? · The naked mole rat is often hard to see because of its appearance. · The Basilisk's digging ability could be improved. · The concept of a eusocial system of mammals would be an interesting mechanic that adds more gameplay to the game https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrolestes Utility: The male Necrolestes can dig just like the Basilisk, however, it's faster (not very fast on the surface) and cannot carry as much weight. When underground, it's undetectable by other dinos unless they are very close (it generates particles of dirt). The appearance of the saddle is not just a decoration, as being underground provides the survivor with oxygen. The Necrolestes drains its stamina and oxygen while moving underground (oxygen drains slowly). If it gets tired or runs out of oxygen, it will automatically surface. They can follow while is underground, when you whistle for them to follow you. You can also disable this, by clicking the menu to turn it on or off. (As they are a little slower on the surface, it is recommended that they move by digging) Whistling to attack a target, they will chase it from the underground and charge to the surface when close to attack it. (if their enemy is faster they will try to catch it using their ability to soften the ground to stun them) While underground, it's immune to shots, hits, and being grabbed by other creatures. It's not immune to explosions and cannot pass under structures (it's not immune to anything on the surface). It cannot attack while underground. While underground, it has the ability to soften the ground (it can pounce on a dino underground and make the ground beneath it collapse, stunning it for 5 seconds. This ability has a cooldown of 20 seconds). Another ability it has while underground is to burst out of the ground suddenly, dealing damage and pushing creatures away. (this drains a lot of stamina) On the surface, it has a claw attack (which deals damage) and can farm Stone and metal (it has reduced metal farming). It also has a biting attack (which deals damage) and can farm fiber and a few berries. (it isn’t the best farming this) The female gives a pack buff effect when surrounded by several male Necrolestes, giving them more damage and greater resistance. (this effect decreases as more females Necrolestes are nearby) An ability that could be cool for the game but very broken and horrible to code is (is discarded): the undergroud movement but from vertical and horizontal surface this means that they could “climb but from inside the ground” (this would drain a lot of stamina as a consequence, but realistically it would bug the game a lot). Taming: Necrolestes can be found in Mega Burrows and Big Burrows, which can only be broken like stones. They can also be immediately removed from the burrow with poison gas bombs. (destroying it in the process) · Big Burrows: There is only one lonely mega mole. Which will come out once the burrow receive damage. · Mega burrows: It will work as a wave system, the more damage you do, the more will come out to defend it (the wave system is similar to that of giant bees, but with a limited group of low level Necrolestes). Eventually, the female (or the queen) Necrolestes will come out with a group of males stronger than the first waves. Some Necrolestes can be also found walking near the mega burrows To tame them, once they are outside, they must be put to sleep without a burrow nearby. Drops: Mega Mole: · · · Big Burrow: -Stone (60%) -Metal (15%) -Green Gems (15%) -Blue Gems (10%) Mega Burrow: -Stone (50%) -Metal (15%) -Green Gems (15%) -Blue Gems (10%) -Red Gems (5%) -Random blueprint of any quality
  7. Creature Name: Giant Purgatorius Description: The Giant Purgatorius is a remarkable and fearsome primate that inhabits the wild and treacherous landscapes of Ark. This unique creature possesses several extraordinary characteristics that set it apart from other creatures in the game. Size: Comparable to a oviraptor Physical Attributes: The Giant Purgatorius boasts a compact yet muscular build, with a dense layer, loose of fur covering its body. Despite its small stature, the creature possesses surprising strength and agility, enabling it to maneuver swiftly through the dense foliage and rugged terrains. Sensory Abilities: While lacking the ability to see, the Giant Purgatorius compensates with an acute sense of smell that surpasses that of most creatures in Ark. Its olfactory capabilities are highly developed, allowing it to detect even the faintest scents and track its prey with astonishing accuracy. This heightened sense of smell also aids the creature in navigating its surroundings, helping it avoid obstacles and locate vital resources. Physical Attributes: The Giant Purgatorius possesses a unique defense mechanism in the form of a loose layer of dense fur that covers its body. This specialized adaptation, reminiscent of the resilient honey badger, provides exceptional protection against bites and slashes from other creatures. The fur acts as a natural armor, cushioning the impact of attacks and reducing the severity of injuries inflicted upon the Giant Purgatorius. As a result, it can withstand a remarkable amount of damage during battles and encounters, enhancing its chances of survival even when confronted by larger adversaries. This remarkable defensive attribute, combined with its other formidable qualities, makes the Giant Purgatorius a force to be reckoned with in the unforgiving world of Ark: survival Ascended Behavior and Ferocity: The Giant Purgatorius is known for its ferocity and unwavering protectiveness towards its young. Despite its blindness, it compensates with heightened aggression, fearlessly challenging formidable foes to safeguard its offspring. It exhibits incredible courage, even going so far as to confront a fearsome Giganotosaurus if it perceives a threat to its young. Engaging in battle with a Giant Purgatorius should not be taken lightly, as its tenacity and determination make it a formidable opponent. Taming Method: passive tame. Taming a Giant Purgatorius requires a unique approach. To gain its trust and deceive it into thinking you are one of its own, the player must obtain the pheromone of a recently slain offspring of the creature. By smearing this pheromone over their character, they can fool the parent Giant Purgatorius into accepting their presence. Once accepted, the player can start the taming process. However, this method requires careful execution and preparation, as the parent will be extremely protective and aggressive during the process. Taming Efficiency Boost: The Giant Purgatorius possesses a unique ability to nurture and protect other tames, significantly increasing their taming efficiency. When The Giant Purgatorius is present near a taming attempt, it exudes a pheromone that fosters a stronger bond between the player and the targeted creature. The pheromone emitted by The Giant Purgatorius has several beneficial effects. Firstly, it instills a sense of calm and trust in the targeted creature, reducing its fear and apprehension during the taming process. This makes the creature more open to the player's presence and interactions, expediting the taming progress. Furthermore, the pheromone of The Giant Purgatorius aids in soothing any wounds or injuries sustained by the creature during the taming process. It accelerates the natural healing process, ensuring that the creature remains in optimal condition and recovers swiftly from any damage incurred during the taming process. It's important to note that the The Giant Purgatorius's ability doesn't guarantee instant or effortless taming. It simply provides a nurturing and protective influence that fosters a stronger connection between the player and the tamed creature, enhancing the overall taming efficiency and success rate. By smearing the pheromone of a Giant Purgatorius offspring over a potential tame and setting your own Giant Purgatorius on "protective stance" mode, you can deceive it into perceiving the taming target as one of its own offspring. This clever tactic allows the Giant Purgatorius to serve as a fierce guardian, warding off potential threats that may attempt to attack the vulnerable, unconscious creature. Utilizing the Giant Purgatorius in this manner can significantly increase the success rate of taming valuable creatures, making it an invaluable asset for players seeking to bolster their taming endeavors in the wil ds of Ark: Survival Ascended. 9. Aerotitan is supposed to be a fun mid to late game dino that can be used in PvP and PvE as it is highly malleable and can be slightly modified to more match your playstyle. Originally, I designed it to be a Tropeo with a gatling gun instead of a grenade launcher (a fighter instead of a bomber) because I already love the Tropeo and I wish the Quetzal had a little more polish/utility. I also love playing with the Astrodelphis so why not bring that fun back into the world of dinosaurs? Before the idea of a customizable saddle came to mind, Aero was originally going to have a very small platform saddle, maybe enough for two triangle foundations, that you could put your weapon of choice on but then I remembered- you cant pilot your tame and mount a turret at the same time, so I changed it from a platform saddle to a modular saddle. I know things will be changed before anything gets in the game, so I'll put it simply; Aerotitan was originally supposed to be a machine gun version of the Tropeo. I've since revised it to make it more unique, but if everything gets cut in the end, I'd at least like it to have those sorts of traits. One last thing to note- above all, I spent most of my time and effort designing the thing to be Ark-friendly, so I hope- if it does get in the game- it keeps the markings / general design I made just for Studio WildCard! Now enough of this introduction, you guys want to see dinosaurs, not essays! Blank dossier by Hamfist on Steam. Huge Thanks! Aerotitan The Approaching Storm Wild Aerotitan Sudamericanus is a flying terror and a force to be reckoned with. Their eerie bellow will alert you to their presence, as well as your own presence in *their* territory. The skies of Scorched Earth are their domain, going so far as to rival the power of the fantastical wyverns that conquer this ARK. While they typically end up turning tail before being able to overpower these foes, creatures like pteranodon, lymantria, vultures, and especially humans should certainly watch their backs around these greedy animals. Strangely, their flying only seems to get better in inclement weather, making the desert the perfect place for them to roost. Tamed While this pterosaur is a highly formidable opponent, even they have their limits. Should their opponent outlast them in combat, Aerotitan Sudamericanus will make a temporary tactical retreat to land and recover their stamina. Some survivors have taken this opportunity to place saddles on them and, if they can last long enough, ride the creature til it accepts that their new master isn't leaving anytime soon. Their impressive size and strength allows for a robust saddle that can support an interchangable module with an ammo box base, as well as one gas-powered turbine under each wing. The customizability of their gear allows for any survivor to easily persist in the unforgiving environment of the desert, be it against the deathworms of the wastelands or the most dangerous game there is. Taming In Detail: The survivor would have to level their stamina along with their target in order to add this tame to their tribe. After staying in an Aero's airspace for long enough, they will make a distinct cry to indicate taming has begun. The goal from here would be to bear the brunt of the dino's attacks until it's stamina drains completely, forcing it to land. Attacking it can also lower it's stamina but it would reduce effectiveness. The survivor would have ~15 seconds to access it's inventory, equip it with a saddle, and ride it; gaining more taming progress the longer the survivor stays on the saddle. Staying on the saddle while it is untamed drains a survivor's stamina and they will be forced to dismount when their stamina reaches 0. The survivor will then have one minute to get back into the air with the Aerotitan, repeating the process until taming is complete. If the survivor does not reach the Aerotitan again within one minute, the Aerotitan will destroy the saddle and taming will reset. Unique Passive Ability: In rain, fog, electrical storms, or any other inclement weather, the Aerotitan gets a 20% speed boost. DJ4275 suggested this buff be called Stormchasing. Stats: Health 575 Stamina 600 Oxygen 150 Food 1400 Weight 450 Melee 24* Movement 710 Torpor 830 Saddle: The saddle by default is only two turbines and an ammo box that can store a limited amount of a single ammo type, the limit being the carry weight of the tame. The ammo will not count towards the overall carryweight on the Aero, but the saddle weighs 30 units without an attachment. Each attachment weighs an extra 10 units. Only one attachment can be used at a time. The Aerotitan can fly/sprint without powered turbines, but only slightly faster than a quetzal. Gasoline still goes in the Aerotitan's inventory. Saddle Attachments: Rocket turret attachment- Same ingredients/functionality as the rocket turret. Flak cannon attachment- Similar in functionality to the tropeognathus saddle, however, grenades can be retrieved from the ammo box on the Aero's back instead of it's inventory. Minigun turret attachment- A minigun that uses advanced rifle bullets from the ammo box part of the saddle. Controls: (WASD) Left Click: Bite Right Click: Rear Up (Standing) / Kick (Flying)(Can be used in combination with grab to throw things to the ground) X: Reverse (Standing (Makes the Aero turn around in place)) / Buck (Small, weak AOE attack) C| Call (Standing (Aesthetic)) / Grab (Flying)(Cannot pick players off saddles) Jet Controls: Left Control: Activate Turbines Left Click: Fire weapon (If not weapon equipped, bite) Right Click: Bite X: U-Turn C| Grab Design: Trivia: The design is generally based off a standard naturally-occurring jungle camouflage. The four feathers that stick out from the back of the head are meant to resemble the nose propellers of some of the first military aircraft that were commercially used in the US. The "mouth" on the neck is inspired by a combination of several things; false markings like some smaller animals have to scare off predators (like the eye spots on an owl moth), the red feathers of a ruby-throated hummingbird, and the livery that is typically painted on A-10 Warthogs. The eyes feature a red sclera and silver irises to look like those of a Bearded Vulture.
