  1. How Should Future Creature Votes Be Managed? Creature votes, a unique way of not just introducing more creatures into Ark Survival Evolved, but also promoting the community's ideas and suggestions. With Extinction's vote now over, will there be future creature votes for ASA in the meantime for Ark 2? If so, there are some benefits and negativities from each creature vote that should be noted for alterations or acknowledgment. Whether it be dealing with or finding a compromise to: the repeatability of certain creatures across multiple voting systems that impacts variability or block new entries, the discussion of certain abilities, influencer influence, blind posting, Apex and therapod stereotypes, PVE and PVP conflicting viewpoints, early votes receiving more attention, and the voting system being based on upvotes or bandwagons, rather than ideas, with some players suggesting that the voting counter should be hidden and the entire focus should be on the creature itself; rather than the votes. These are the main problems associated with the Ark creature votes that have impacted not just the community's views of the overall system, but also how people participate in them. Some players want fantasy creatures being added, which should these be part of their own submission system when compared to prehistoric animals, rather than being blocked? What about clone creatures, or multiple alternating renditions of the same species of animal? While there are rules currently in place for the Ark creature voting system, how should they be dealt with? Should future voting systems focus on not just one spotlight creature, how about the top three, kind of like with Lost Island back in 2021 (the Carcharodontosaurus, Dinopithecus and Sinomacrops were all added). Another detail would be influencers. Influencers have had their impacts on the creature submission system as well, impacting voting rates by some rigging votes with their "influence", this can be seen during the first creature vote with both Dinopithecus and Sinomacrops, causing lots of controversy in the process. Others on platforms like Youtube try to bribe or instigate viewers to vote for specific creatures, and downvote others. This happened with the Tanystropheus, Dire Otter, Sivatherium, Armadillosuchus, the Razanandrongobe, the Myotragus, Giant Bison, the Bastion Beetle and Gorgonopsis with upvotes and demands for inclusion, and others downvoting the Maevia Jumping Spider, Shastasaurus, Dinopithecus, Yi Qi and Rhyniognatha. Most of this comes down to the details mentioned above, with some influencers also go out of there way to vote for animals that might be considered the "worst" of the bunch. In my opinion, influencers should be allowed to participate, but with the voting counter taken into consideration, influencers should not be able to rig creature votes with their "influence", preventing not just the community from having a say in inclusion of creatures, but also creating more problems, criticism and hate within Ark's community. There are countless other topics to mention and describe, including the fantasy animals like golems, dragons, hydras, hippocampus, titans and elementals that could be added to Ark, or the stereotypes and the viewpoint of people upvoting for "Alpha" or food-chain dominate creatures. I personally have no say on the matter, rather if fantasy creatures could be added, how should these creatures be considered? In conclusion, this is from both my own experience observing and participating with the creature voting systems and my team's ideas on how this system should be considered for the future. I would like to hear your comments, suggestions and opinions on this topic. Thanks, MonstersHunters
  2. Species name: Erlikosaurus Andrewsi Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild This is not Erlikosaurus Andrewsi I once knew. It's not a normal Therizinosauroidea anymore. Instead, it's a literal, death itself. It's not fully sure that this dinosaur has any strong relationship with elements, but it's confirmed that Erlikosaurus is given some strange abilities by elements, including aggressive temperament. You might not want to caught by Erlikosaurus, since if you do, you'll become dust to dust by it's elemental fire breath. Domesticated I never thought Erlikosaurus could be tamed, but some tributes had successfully tamed this dinosaur. Once you tamed Erlikosaurus, it's going to be the greatest biotic weapon ever existed with its breath and powerful claws. Stats Health: 785 Stamina: 500 oxygen: 145 Food: 2700 Weight: 342 Melee damage: 47 (Claw Attack) Movement speed: 100% Torpidity: 960 General Info Erlikosaurus usually spawns in Forbidden Zone, Corrupted den, Secluded lake, and rarely in snow dome area. It is aggressive dinosaur like Therizinosaurus, and will attack player/tamed creatures if it gets too close in distance. Wild Erlikosaurus uses elemental fire breath to attack, just like Wyvern's fire. Elemental fire breath will increase player/tamed creature's torpidity. Wild Erlikosaurus dose not requires recharged element to shoot breath. This means it can shoot breath infinitely if its wild. Wild Erlikosaurus also does not make element traps. Wild Erlikosaurus drops Corrupted Heart and Erlikosaurus spikes when you kills it. In wild, Erlikosaurus is considered as part of corrupted dinos, but it dose not appears in OSD nor as minion in Titan boss fight. It's size is bigger than Carnotaurus, as almost same size as Therizinosaurus, but much smaller in weight. Taming Erlikosaurus can be tame with Passive taming. First, you need to feed elements to it. Since Erlikosaurus is aggressive, you need ghillie armor, like you encounter Gigantopithecus or Chalicotherium. You can also feed element shard or element dust. Here is basic chart of feedable items and number of them needed (based on level 1) Element: 20 Element shard: 36 Unstable Element: 14 Unstable Element Shard: 17 Element ore: 36 Element Dust: 45 Once Erlikosaurus fed needed amount of elements, it will gain power from element and becomes Friendly Mode for 12 minutes. Rest is similar to Charcarodontosaurus and equus; First, you need to ride on Erlikosaurus. And than. you need to hunt other creatures with Erlikosaurus. As you hunt creatures, you need to feed element stuffs to Erlikosaurus when it feels hungry. Like Equus, you have limited time to feed elements. If you successfully feed elements to Erlikosaurus in time, the taming gage will increase, but failing to this will result getting dismounted by Erlikosaurus and Erlikosaurus will become aggressive and attack you. keep feeding elements to complete taming. Erlikosaurus's taming effect will be based on what kinds of creatures you killed with Erlicosaurus and gained XP of Erlikosaurus. Corrupted Wyvern and Reaper will work best for Erlikosaurus's taming effect. Also, You cannot use elemental fire breath or create element trap while Erlikosaurus is in Friendly Mode. Abilities Normal Attack(left mouse click): 47 damage Tail Swing (keyboard C+left mouse click): 22 damage, with gashed effect Elemental fire Breath (right mouse click, recharged element needed): shoots fire from mouth, 5 tick damage, 100 damage total if hits directly. 4 shots consumes 1 recharged element. Breath swing (keyboard C+right mouse click, recharged element needed): swings fast with elemental fire breath, 56 damage if it hits anything. 2 shots consumes 1 recharged element. jump attack (key board C): jump and slams to the ground, 49 damage. producing recharged element: If you put element, unstable element, element shard, unstable element shard or element ore in Erlikosaurus's inventory, Erlikosaurus will constently produce item called Recharged Element, which is required to shoot Elemental Fire Breath. Element trap (Keyboard Crtl, recharged element needed): creates element trap that traps small to medium sized creatures. Affected creatures are same as Plant Species Y Trap. 1 trap uses 3 recharged elements. Reproduction Erlikosaurus's reproduction system is same as Therizinosaurus, except it only eats element stuffs for food, including for imprinting. Saddles Erlikosaurus can be rode without saddle, but you can also equip saddle. Saddle can be unlocked in level 57. variant Erlikosaurus has no variant but itself. It doesn't even have its own corrupted version, since Erlikosaurus itself is considered as corrupted dinosaur. Trivia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erlikosaurus Real Erlikosaurus has nothing to do with fire breathing stuffs, as you know.... I made up those element related abilities so it can fit in Extinction theme. Erilkosaurus's design was based off from Shin Godzilla (kamakura san). If Erlikosaurus added to the game, it will be the 2nd Therizinosauroidea adding to the game. Erlikosaurus's name means 'Erlik's Lizard'. Erlik is Mongolian god of death. If you like to see Erlikosaurus roaming on Extinction map, PLEASE VOTE!
  3. Hello beach bobs The creature votes are competitive to say the least and it makes sense that collaborating to have the best shot of getting creatures into the game is important. I'm creative and can come up with concepts easily, however my art skills and things to create actually professional art works for said creatures are sub par to say the very least (atleast compared to the frankly amazing art in the top submissions).😅 So if anyone would like to reach out to collaborate on some new submissions for the upcoming votes it'd be appreciated. I can make concepts, draw and rephrase grammar to the best of my ability, ik it's not the best resume but it's something. Please note however I cannot offer pay and credit will be split evenly among collaborators with everyone's ideas will be taken into account, however ideas may be overruled. So if this seems interesting to you I'd happy ad anyone to the creature tribe.
  4. Inspired by Nycticebus linglom, a prehistoric primate known only from a single tooth as well as Slow lorises, the only venomous primate to exist. I figured that the Lorises venom could be adapt well to the idea of corruption and started brainstorming a bunch of ideas but feel free to share your own. Also, sorry in advance for the quality and typos! I'm a noob at making these! Wild: Being a relatively small and solitary creature, the Loris spends most of its time in the canopy of trees, only ever coming down if an opportunity to grab an easy meal appears. A rare sight due to their nature and habitat the Lorises simian intelligence along with its unique attributes has enabled it to survive outside of the protective domes significantly easier than most creatures would. The only venomous primate found on the Arks, the Lorises venom is a side effect of its diet which consists primarily of the corrupted flesh from wild creatures. This venom has a surprising amount of uses beyond just poisoning enemies that are bitten by the Loris. Corrupted creatures seem to ignore the Loris, which I assume to be because they view it as one of them. This effect also seems to apply to those near a loris which leads me to believe it has something to do with the Loris' scent or perhaps pheromones given off by the creature via special glands. Domesticated: In order to tame one of these odd primates survivors must offer them either corrupted nodules or corrupted hearts with hearts being the more effective of the two. Once tamed survivors will find that while not particularly useful in head-to-head combat the Loris does provide unique utility with its venom and other corruption-based abilities. The Lorises venom can be harvested and turned into a special elixir that when consumed can temporarily "corrupt" the consumer, granting them a boost in ferocity and causing wild corrupt creatures to ignore them. Should the Loris bite a wild corrupted creature or the creature of an enemy that creature can temporarily be forced onto your side. Lorises also gather more corrupt materials when harvesting them and make it harder for wild corrupt creatures to notice nearby survivors and tames. Though it is too small to ride it can be equipped with a specialized saddle, similar to the Hyaenodon, with the Lorises saddle acting much like a chemistry bench. To anyone who reads this, thanks in advance. I know it's not flashy or cool but I appreciate everyone who does.
  5. Wild: Ikrandraco is a wonder to watch in the wilds of the wastelands of Extincion. It has an amazing agility compared to other fliers, thanks to its large tip chin which looks similar to a fin. the large Wings allow it to ffly from one place to another with ease. Due to new enviromentand the corruption the ikrandraco has grown to almost 7 times of its regular size. The Ikrandraco can cling very well to cliffs and trees with its long claws on the foreleg and hind leg and spot its prey from there. Ikrandraco is mainly a carnivore hunting small and midsized dinosaurs or mammals. some ikrandraco's evolved to piscivores and their diet is mainly fish. The ikrandraco also got bioluminescence skin which is glowing in the dark, perfect to explore the caves of Extincion Domesticated: Anyone who tames a Ikrandraco has an excellent tame to travel and fight. due to his large sharp teeth will bring the victim to bleed out! With his dive the ikrandraco can fly very fast. The ikrandraco can also carry up to two Survivors on his saddle. The claws on the hind legs are not suitable for carrying small creatures. If you fight with you're Ikran Draco against corruption, it will do heavy damage to these creatures (like the Megatherium with insects) REALLIFE COUNTER PART :
  6. In your opinion, what creatures should qualify for the Community Creature votes? This is my idea: The creature must be an animal (part of the Animalia kingdom). The creature must be a real and confirmed animal (modern or extinct/prehistoric). The creature cannot be the same genus as a creature already in ARK.
  7. here are all the cool species i found that have never been used before on the creature votes. i thought about using these guys but ended up settling on other animals to submit myself, but i do think someone else could probably make some really good abilities for these animals. due to maximum file size ill be commenting the others. If anyone else has some cool creatures feel free to send those and to use any of these. Update: Due to all of the attention this is getting i have decided to keep adding more species when i find them. when i get bored i start looking through a group of animals and looking for creatures i want to submit myself and just to learn about new animals. so to be as unbiased as possible i will upload any animals i find that meet 2 criteria. 1 it has to be different from any animals we already have in the game or that have been in the top 2 pages so far, like alcovasaurus which has way longer tail spikes than any other stegosaur. it would be futile to send 10 unkown species of big cat even though there have been plenty of big cats suggested already. and 2 there has to be something special about it otherwise i could send every extinct rodent species and that wouldnt really be interesting. like visually or behaviourally Update 2: 3k views wow tnx everyone for your participation especially the other people submitting animals here. From now on I will send creatures that have been uploaded before but didn't get more than 10 votes and don't have any art yet. Or more votes if they haven't been used in a long time like half a year for example. plesiosiro
  8. Hey everyone, Long time player, first time poster. I've been keeping up with the creature votes over the last couple months and it has been great to see some really unique creatures come in! I've been trying to figure out if i could have some input into what could possibly be useful or unique enough to draw some attention. I finally came to the decision to make a submission but I need to get in some post before it becomes viable for the creature vote, so I'm doing this in advance in hopes to get some traction on it. My idea is a beefed up version of the Equus, i love the horses but I'm always at a loss for putting in the effort to tame them outside kinda just having one around. So I've tried to come up with an idea that makes a version of them much more appealing to me, and hopefully something that could work within the realm of the game. Welcome in the Belgian Draft Horse - Equus Ferus Caballus - Or some other name I can come up with to create some The idea would be to have a Carriage as a part of its saddle, that holds up to 2 horses - each horse bringing more speed and power. and the carriage itself becomes an all in one, Smithy access at the back and a portable sleeping bag, creating a makeshift portable base ( switching to "parked/turret mode ). I see this as being super unique being the only creature/tame that would work concurrently with another one the same saddle/carriage. The horses would build speed as you ride along and become an unstoppable force, doing massive knockback, light-medium damage, acting as a battering ram forcing its way out of harsh situations or smashing through potential road blocks (some structure damage and resource destruction). The better quality saddle/carriage the more ram damage it will do The sizing would be much bigger than the Equus that is currently roaming the plains of current Arks similar to the sense of how a Clydesdale is massive compared to modern day horses (which are always much bigger than they seem to be from the get go haha) My inspiration comes from that of the movie Van Helsing, and i think it would fit in quite well within the realm of Fjordur as we have the Vampire Bat Desmodus acting almost like that of the vampires from the movie. I've attached some reference pictures for some context but will be putting my own spin on the design in the next week or so, so hopefully I can give you all bit more of a better idea of what I'm imagining. (NOTE - I DONT OWN ANY OF THE RIGHTS TO THESE PICTURES, THEY ARE MEARLY BEING USED FOR CONTEXT) Happy to include input from others at this stage and hopefully make something unique that everyone can get around.
  9. This creature has adapted to its surroundings perfectly, it has a natural camouflage so it is unseen by most other sea creatures, except for Tuso and Anglerfish, which can spot it swimming through the depths. It has an almost symbiotic relationship with the Anglerfish, meaning Anglerfish are partially aggressive to the Coralotel as it's after the Anglerfish's Angler Gel, which is a sort of catnip to the creature. On it's back lay a few rows of bright sea coral which help the Coralotel blend it even better to it's surroundings. Also along it's back are brightly coloured stripes which light up when fed Angler Gel. This puts it in glow mode, increasing it's HP, attack and stamina temporarily. When glow mode is activated, all creatures can see the (AXO) Coralotel. The gills of the (AXO) Coralotel produce oxygen so when saddled, act as a oxygen tank. To tame this creature, it needs to be lead far into land, as oxygen reaises it's torpor. Once knocked out it's fed Biotoxin as its kibble. The (AXO) Coralotel can be bred but cannot mature in captivity so stay small .however its young act as a shoulder pet whose special ability is to produce oxygen for it's wearer. The young can glow when feed Angler Gel which can be used as a light. Axolotls are known as the amphibian that never grows up Axolotls are friendly faced salamanders that stay in their 'tadpole' form forever
  10. While Ceratosaurus has been added to Ark Additions, rather than suggesting a concept on Ceratosaurus for its inclusion in Ark Survival Ascended on the Center map, my team and I have suggested the inclusion of a different yet once considered “controversial” species of Ceratosaurid from Argentina, known as Genyodectes. Common Name: Genyodectes Species: Genyodectes anoteros Time: Early Cretaceous Period Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Opportunistic Tameable: Yes Rideable: Yes Breedable: Yes Torpidity Immune: No Taming Method: Passive & Knockout Preferred Kibble: Superior Preferred Food: Raw Mutton Equipment: “Genyodectes Saddle” (Level 54- Crafted at either a Smithy or on an Argentavis saddle) Rider Weaponry: Yes Humans Can Carry: No Genyodectes artistic depiction designed by Deviantart user kingrexy at https://www.deviantart.com/kingrexy/art/Genyodectes-815452228 Wild "Across the plains, marshes, estuaries and transition zones of open woodlands throughout the Center, these habitats are the ideal hunting grounds for Genyodectes anoteros. This solitary hunter of small to medium-sized prey, this Ceratosaurid theropod is an adaptable ecological specialist, able to alter its diet depending on environmental conditions and thrive in semi-aquatic habitats”. "With its niche radiation across the Center, it is no wonder that its endurance and brute force are unmatched. Being able to stalk prey in the shadows without making a sound, combined with its agile nature, a robust skull design that is enforced by specialised jaw muscles and serrated teeth. Any prey that tries to escape from its grasp will experience a terrible fate, teeth designed to dig deeper into the flesh with every struggle. Causing mass haemorrhaging, and acting like a natural bear trap”. Domesticated "A sight to behold with its quick, keen and adept capabilities, in order to catch one or probably sneak up on the ambush expert are difficulties that most survivors consider not worth the challenge. However, rather than depending on a social hierarchy, nocturnal behaviour or sheer force, this flexible, smart, semi-aquatic and opportunistic predator appears more than just a perceived savage forager. Rather, a widespread top-predator at the top of its domain”. - Helena Walker Anatomy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genyodectes#/media/File:Genyodectes_saurus_jaws.jpg Discovered in 1901 by English Palaeontologist Sir Arthur Smith Woodward from the Cerro Barcino Formation also known as the Gorro Frigio Formation in the Chubut Province of Argentina. The holotype uncovered that belonged to Genyodectes consisted of an incomplete snout with the premaxilla, contents from both maxillas of the skull, the right and left dentary or the lower jawbone, numerous long, curved teeth, a fragment of the left splenial and bones above the dentary (the supradentaries). These were the only skeletal pieces known of this organism which was the second non-avian dinosaur excavated from South America. https://www.deviantart.com/jorobania/art/Genyodectes-skull-reconstruction-934358036 Genyodectes was not originally designated as a Ceratosaurus and rather as a nomen dubium or an “unknown application” of theropod, which over a span of a hundred years of argumentation over fragmented evidence. Genyodectes would be designated its own genus containing one type species known as Genyodectes serus. Genyodectes (which originates from the words "jaw" and "bite" in Greek) became a major significant specimen of dinosauria uncovered from South America, being the most complete known South American theropod species until the 1970s. However, from 2000 to 2010, Genyodectes would be argued towards its ecological placement in the taxonomic order, with some arguing it was a megalosaurid, a tyrannosaurid, a “incertae sedis” and an abelisaurid (a senior synonym of Abelisaurus). In 2004, Oliver W. M. Rauhut concluded its taxonomic placement, primarily with reevaluation of the specimen. Genyodectes serus lacked important abelisaurid and tyrannosaurid synapomorphies that were shared by two or more taxa, primarily those with neoceratosaurian traits. This implied that Genyodectes was closer to and possibly descended from theropods related to the Late Jurassic Ceratosaurus than other derived abelisaurids. Rauhut specified “that the premaxillary teeth are arranged in an overlapping en echelon pattern with the longest maxillary teeth crowns no longer apicobasally than the minimal dorsoventral depth of the mandible. Differing from Ceratosaurus in the presence of four, as opposed to three, premaxillary teeth”, according to https://www.researchgate.net/publication/235907356_Provenance_and_anatomy_of_Genyodectes_serus_a_large-toothed_Ceratosaur_Dinosauria_Theropoda_from_Patagonia. https://ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/1-s2.0-S0895981116301341-gr1.jpg and https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0895981116301341 The paleoenvironment of Genyodectes from the Early to Late Cretaceous Cerro Barcino Formation within the Cerro Castaño stratigraphic member unit (the member is 113 to 100.5 million years old- Genyodectes is estimated to have existed from 112 million years ago) that contains evidence of humid flood-plain like conditions. This environment allowed for a wide array of fauna to thrive, including the Peirosaurid Barcinosuchus gradilis, the Gigantosaurin Carcharodontosaurid known as Tyrannotitan chubutensis, titanosaurids such as the lognkosaur Patagotitan mayorum (which existed 101.62 million years ago), Chubutisaurus insignis, abelisaurus remains, Lepidosaur reptiles like Kaikaifilusaurus minimus, and Testudinata turtles such as Chubutemys copelloi and Prochelidella cerrobarcinae. Design, Behaviour and AI The first way to make Genyodectes a unique dinosaur when compared to in-game and current therapods would be in both its wild and domesticated behaviour. This would make first encounters with Genyodectes unique and possibly memorable. The below concept art was created by myself (MonstersHunters) as a basic sketch on the suggested behaviours. A Genyodectes outmanoeuvring a Parasaurolophus - Illustrated by MonstersHunters The movement of Genyodectes should be different from other predators currently in Ark. Built for flat habitats such as estuaries, flood-meadows and marshes, a Genyodectes will lock onto prey and begin chasing it. However, it will bend and turn (serpentine) in a random ordeal to outmanoeuvre and confuse its prey, allowing it to ensnare or outpace its prey target given the environment (the Center has a large amount of cliffs, waterfalls and hillsides, which can be used as either ideal or avoidable recommendations for hunting depending on the individual Genyodectes). This behaviour I believe would work better than continuing with the simple biting and mauling its prey in a simple hitbox locked-on fashion like a majority of the creatures currently in Ark, while also making Genyodectes unique from other theropods in a single process. A Genyodectes grabbing and crushing a Pachycephalosaurus - Illustrated by MonstersHunters Similar to Kaprosuchus and Sarcosuchus, when Genyodectes grabs a prey item (ranging from a Compsognathus to a Human in size), both its teeth and specialised jaw muscles snap shut and lock the prey item in place. Immediately causing haemorrhaging and internal bleeding. Genyodectes would have fed on small ornithischians, mammals, possibly fish and fast-moving prey sources in its Early Cretaceous environment in the floodplains of South America. Using its robust head and jaw anatomy designed and specialised for biting and stopping prey in their tracks. The proximity based recognition of a Wild Genyodectes - Illustrated by MonstersHunters When wild Genyodectes are hunting or are preparing to ambush a target, its AI will lock onto the smallest, weakest or slowest target in a given range. To be realistic to an extent, Genyodectes like most therapods would probably take advantage of specific (slower, smaller, weaker or injured) prey sources (being opportunistic). In the above image, rather than targeting or locking onto an Iguanodon or a Gallimimus, a smaller prey item that can’t fight back or run away such as a Pegomastax would be a desired prey item. A Genyodectes scaring a pair of Utahraptors off a Stegosaurid Carcass - Illustrated by MonstersHunters The next key behavioural factor present in both wild and domesticated Genyodectes, would be its ability to kick smaller therapods off of caracesses and carrion. Applying to all non-avian theropods in nature, Ceratosaurus and Genyodectes were not full-time scavengers like vultures. Though In a majority of recent pop culture and TV-show depictions of this theropod family, Ceratosaurus itself is portrayed as either a weaker and more “useless” theropod in its paleoenvironment or as scavenger (in reality, pterosaurs would have most likely have filled scavenger-related roles) of the carcasses from larger theropods such as Saurophaganax, Torvosaurus, Lourinhanosaurus or Allosaurus (or Tyrannotitan and abelisaurids in the case of Genyodectes). When given the opportunity, Genyodectes will threaten and force smaller scavengers ranging from compys to ravagers off of non-harvested caresses or injured prey items (applying a temporary debuff somewhat similar to the Yutyrannus Terror/Fear ability). A Genyodectes fishing for a Coelacanth - Illustrated by MonstersHunters The final key behavioural factor is a behavioural ability, applied to Ceratosaurids in general. Proposals in 2004 by Robert Baker and Gary Bir, and challenged in 2019 by Chan-gyn Yun, the body of Ceratosaurus was long, flexible and low to the ground, coupled with tall vertical neural spines and deep chevron bones on the underside of its tail. Ceratosaurus would have had a crocodile-like tail that convergently would have been used towards swimming in times of ecological changes. When desired prey sources such as sauropods or stegosaurids were no longer abundant/absent in a surrounding habitat, Ceratosaurus could switch its niche or diet plan towards hunting aquatic prey items like lungfish (Ceratosaurus teeth are abundant in excavation points where prehistoric lungfish specimens have been recovered in the Morrison Formation) depending on the surrounding changes in available prey sources, or the environment the Ceratosaurus adapted to. While this is present in Ceratosaurus, Genyodectes has been uncovered from the Cerro Barcino Formation in the Chubut Province of Argentina. This formation contains member layers from different geographical positions that provide time estimates from the Early Cretaceous, specifically in this case, the Cerro Castaño that contains evidence of humid flood-plain like conditions that could have seen Genyodectes perform niche partitioning by having a wide-ecological collection of prey items. This means that Genyodectes could have possibly been semi-aquatic. Also in the scenario that future evidence proves these theories wrong, it is a unique speculative concept that could be incorporated into a fictional species of Genyodectes for Ark. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the design, Genyodectes should have the above behavioural traits adapted into its final design, but should also appear slightly larger in size (about 2 to 3 feet taller), mainly due its niche diversity in the Center ecosystem that resulted in a larger size, as well as having to compete with other fictional species of predators: https://everythingdinosaurs.weebly.com/genyodectes.html Genyodectes could also features present in other Ceratosaurids like the Italian ceratosaurid Saltriovenator and Ceratosaurus in its design: A Great Artistic Recreation of Saltriovenator by Brennan Stokkermans at https://brennanstokkermans.artstation.com/projects/w82zxL. and A detailed 3d sculpt model of Ceratosaurus by 3D Artist Jonathan Harris at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nQDPB4 Note that one key detail present in both illustrations or depictions of Ceratosaurid theropods is the inclusion of a layer of skin that covered the teeth, essentially a false “lip”. Another way to distinguish Genyodectes anoteros is through these small details. A large majority of Ark Survival Evolved’s current theropod dinosaurs either lack reptilian-like “lips” (not true lips like those in mammals) such as the Rex, Spinosaurus, Utahraptor, Giganotosaurus and Allosaurus, or are semi-lipped like the Megalosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus and Carnotaurus. To oversimplify, skin coverings would have been present on most theropods, birds (skin coverings are present in some birds like eagles, emus, rheas, secretary birds, crested caracara and puffins which do lack teeth, but have these forms of extra oral tissue) and reptiles (such as monitor lizards, tuatara, agamids, geckos and iguanas - excluding crocodilians) to protect the outer enamel and parts of the tooth from outside elements that could cause wear and tear or destroy the tooth. To constantly replace damaged teeth would be taxing on these dinosaurs, so after much debate in the paleontological community, skin coverings over the teeth have been speculated and specified to have existed in theropods ranging from Spinosaurids to Dromaeosaurids and Abelisaurids (including Ceratosaurids). Genyodectes anoteros males should have a unique or vibrant crest display as a form of sexual display. The tails in both males and females should also be muscular and large in relation to their adaptive radiation from a terrestrial to semi-aquatic swift/agility based lifestyle. Its legs and body plan should be designed or intended towards outrunning or outmanoeuvring prey, similar to its behavioural factors. This means a lower to the ground body posture with a long and flexible torso region coupled with proportionally yet muscular sized legs to carry its estimated 905 kilograms (1995.18 pounds) in weight (in 2016, Genyodectes serus was estimated to be 6.25 metres in length and 790 kilograms (1741.65 pounds/lb) in weight. Ceratosaurus’s weight was calculated at 980 kgs or 2160.53 lbs in maximum weight. The fictional species should be somewhere in between both estimates). A final detail would be that Genyodectes should have a randomly scattered osteoderm covered skin pattern/texture, similar to Abelisaurids like Carnotaurus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Abilities and Advantages - Genyodectes anoteros is designed and built for agility and brute force. Unlike other theropods, Genyodectes has a 50% stamina reduction characteristic. - When running and sprinting, Genyodectes receives an ability known as “Serration”. When in combat with larger opponents, the amount of energy built up as momentum collides with the target and can deal an increased percentage of damage depending on the amount of time sprinting or the amount of energy behind the attack (such as running downhill - ranging on a scale from 5 to 10 times more damage output). This ability still applies in shallow, knee-deep water for the Genyo, but can be disabled if in a lake or deeper water body. - With enough energy and correct timing, both tamed and wild Genyodectes anoteros can apply an attack known as “Dissection” when confronting smaller targets. Ranging from a compsognathus or noglin in size to a human, this ability is an alternative to Serration. The Genyo can grip a target based on its jaw and skeletal adaptations that are intended towards snapping its jaws shut and tearing away flesh. This means that the longer a small prey item is held in its jaws, the teeth dig deeper into the muscle tissue and cause a bleeding debuff similar to the “gnashed” condition. This will continue until either enough damage is applied on the Genyo, a torpor effect is applied or the prey item dies. - With its behaviours, wild Genyodectes movements are based on calculating or measuring the movement of its prey target, which allows it to quickly out-manoeuvre its prey. When riding a tamed Genyodectes, twisting and turning allows it to maintain a majority of its momentum and can allow it to maintain its stamina in a controlled fashion. If you run into a tree, rock or charge your target by applying "Serration” on a larger target, its momentum will be slowed or be stopped completely. - The Genyodectes has the ability to dismount players off of tames, including Phiomias, Parasaurolophus, Iguanodons, Equus, Dire Wolves, Terror Birds, Megaloceros, Kaprosuchus, Sabertooth, Mantas, Pteranodon, Pelagornis, Gallimimus and Pachycephalosaurus (Lymantria, Ravagers, Thorny Dragons, Mantis, Andrewsarchus, Shadowmanes and Velonasaurus for creatures outside of the Center Map). - The Genyo can switch its attacks from mauling and biting a target to clawing or slashing instead, both applying different melee-based damage amounts. Biting deals more damage to a single target, while slashing can deal around the same total approximation of damage, instead distributed in total (adding up to said total) across multiple targets in a swing cycle. - The Genyo has a weight/carrying reduction of 25% towards specific harvested items such as hide, keratin, fur, oil and chitin. - The Genyodectes prefers to hunt solitary and can receive a negative debuff when hunting alongside other pack members that are male or are outside of its specific mate (mateboosted) and/or its offspring. Ceratosaurids are speculated to have hunted less in packs, but rather in family units between mates and sub-adult offspring. This means that offspring can receive a boost in imprinting with hunting experience alongside their parents and a survivor. - Tamed and raised Genyodectes can be imprinted and taught to ambush targets if outside of a flat or plateau-based area, being able to walk in a crawl-like fashion that can be altered or is accessible via the behaviour panel. This gives off limited sound cues when hunting, primarily for enemy players. - The Genyo can escape net projectiles from a harpoon launcher and will after an encounter, a wild Genyodectes anoteros will try to outmanoeuvre a net. Weaknesses - The most major weakness to Genyodectes is long-ranged weaponry, primarily chain bolas and catapult turrets. While the net gun’s net can be torn apart by the Genyodectes, chain bolas can easily ensnare and stop a Genyodectes in its tracks, if a player recognises the direction it's running in. Another alternative is a chalicotherium, which can easily obstruct and kill a weak Genyo if it is not in flat terrain. - The Genyo can not dismount players off of tames including Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Argentavis, Procoptodon, Thylacoleo, large theropods taller than an Allosaurus and certain Aquatic mounts including Ichthyosaurus, megalodon, Basilosaurus, and Sarcosuchus (creatures on other maps include Griffins, Magmasaurus, Bloodstalkers and Astrocetus). - The last debuff to the Genyo is that at night when in combat with a Megalosaurus, the Genyo receives a 15% health regeneration debuff and a 10% movement speed decrease when in combat with both domesticated/tamed and wild Megalosaurus (making it a perfect counter in certain scenarios). - While the Genyo can swim and has a tail designed towards agility both on land and in the water, the Genyo can drown (has an oxygen metre) after an extended period of time. Taming Method: While a Genyo can be tamed with narcotics, kibble and raw mutton, the easiest method is to use a passive tame. Using Ghillie armour, a player can instead cooperate with a Genyodectes in a handful to a series of ambushes of a selected prey target. After participating in an ambush, a player can feed the Genyodectes its preferred food item (mutton or superior kibble which reduces the number of ambushes that have to be performed). Passive grants higher taming progression when compared to knockout taming. One key detail with Wid Genyodectes that can be critical in the taming process, comes down to trapping the animal. In open environments such as floodplains and the undergrowths of marshland, Genyodectes can easily out manoeuvre and overrun prey sources, though if someone was to trap it with a large bear trap or in a foundation-based cage with gates. The Genyo will have nowhere to run. A player can also use an Equus’s kicks to apply an increased amount of torpor on a Genyo. Spawning Locations: https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Resource_Map/The_Center With Genyodectes being specialised for various environments on the Center map. Genyodectes anoteros spawns in both the temperate regions in the Snowy Grasslands (Uncommon) and the Western Cliffs (Rare) on the Western Landmass of the Center, as well as the open woodlands and estuaries of the Southern Jungle (Rare), the Southern Tropical Island (Common), the Northern Tropical Island (Common), and the flat regions of the Bridge (Very Rare) Any suggestions and comments please reply below. These are my team's suggestions, so all credit and reference goes to them for the idea (s). Thanks. - MonstersHunters For those interested in Genyodectes outside of this suggestion, I would recommend checking out the Prehistoric Beasts mod for Ark on the Steam Workshop at https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2003934830 created by mod authour Crysta. 11. abilities: m1 bleed effect, m2 charged bite attack that builds more damage the longer it's held (with a pack of 4 max.) You gain 15% bonus damage reduction, speed, and attack boost. While holding shift, you can leap out of the water to gain a huge amount of distance. To be tamed, you would have to ride on its back for a certain amount of time. It'll eat out of your hot bar but will not gain taming effectiveness; it'll prevent it from eating you (they spawn in packs, so beware if you're solo). To breed, they'd act like your average dino on land; they just lay their eggs in the sand like modern-day sea turtles. That's all. Please vote for Dakosaurus if you find it cool for the center. ❤️😄

With his dive the ikrandraco can fly very fast. The ikrandraco can also carry up to two Survivors on his saddle. The claws on the hind legs are not suitable for carrying small creatures Reallife Animal: An extended ancient flying reptile looked so much like a dragon that might have flown with the flying predators called "Ikran" in the movie "Avatar" that its discoverers named the newly discovered animal after these banshees. The pterosaur named Ikrandraco avatar ("draco" means "dragon" in Latin) may have stored its food in a throat pouch like a pelican, researchers said. Pterosaurs were the first vertebrates to flap their wings to fly. Before pterosaurs became extinct in the catastrophic impact that ended the age of the dinosaurs, they were the largest animals ever to fly, with a wingspan of up to 12 meters. (Although pterosaurs lived alongside dinosaurs, these flying reptiles were not dinosaurs.)
  13. Hallucigenia Sparsa: You can watch an in-depth video from me, covering this concept in greater detail here: (And yes, this is my Youtube Channel) Contents: 1: Real World Info 2: Dossier 3: Sexual Dimorphism 4: Abilities 5: Taming 6: Post Taming 7: Other Important Things Real World Info The Hallucigenia is an extinct creature that is very unique. Although it is hard to tell the closest relative of it is actually the Velvet Worm. (I won't include a picture incase of people who don’t like gross stuff, but I’d recommend to search it up as it is a very unique creature) It was originally believed to walk on the spikes on its back (first picture) but was later discovered that it actually walked on the things they thought were tentacles, legs now. (second picture) But I will be using both of these renditions for the full concept of my Hallucigenia. The difference between Female and Male Hallucigenia allow for both PvE Players as well as PvP players giving all sides of the game a new creature to use. This should hopefully help everyone get something they like. If there are any suggestions or question you have of my creature concept make sure to leave them down below, and I will try to add as many suggestions as I can to the concept. What Scientists originally thought the Hallucigenia looked like: What Scientists later discovered it actually looked like: Although the Hallucigenia Sparsa did only grow to about 1 inch long it would be much bigger for the sake of fitting into the fauna of the Arks. Females would be slightly larger than a Diplo, and Males would be slightly smaller than a Diplo. Dossier: I unfortunately do not have any Dossier Art or Art in General, but I do have a description of a potential Dossier (If anyone would like to make art showcasing this creature it would be awesome!): Common Name: Hallucigenia Species: Hallucigenia sparsa Time Period: Mid Cambrian Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Docile - Until Provoked Wild: The Hallucigenia sparsa, alongside another recently discovered specimen the Rhyniognatha, reassures my suspicion that the Ark’s have tampered with the genes of their habiting creatures, some more than others. It was incredibly small in reality, smaller than my thumb, but here it is a towering beast capable of handling even the toughest of marine life here. They adore deadly spikes layering across its back, proving to be useful for both display and defence. With some even evolving to walk using these spikes, it is fascinating the rate at which creatures on the Arks can evolve. Domesticated: Although tamed through a blood transfusion with a weak juvenile, once grown up there have been several sexual differences between males and females. The vibrant Males I’ve studied had solely walked with their spikes, but instead using their “legs” as a way to release spores that have harsh effects. While the Females have been quite the opposite, being dull in coloration, walking with their actual legs and using their spikes as defence. I’ve also witnessed the Females have a very abnormal weight tolerance, and is mainly used for transporting large hoards of items. These gentle giants, while not preferring combat, come equipped with a variety of tools. Males utilize their deadly spores and agility while Females can withstand a large amount of damage and use their piercing spikes in combat. With both offence and utility at its disposal, the Hallucigenia is definitely a creature worth having. Sexual Dimorphism: Males: Male Hallucigenia look very different from Females, being the older rendition of the creature. Males also come in a more vibrant colour than females as is mainly the case in the wild, as well as are smaller than Female Hallucigenia. Image of what it could look like: Females: Female Hallucigenia look much more like the modern rendition of the creature. Females are less vibrant in color than Males and are also a bit bigger than the Males as well. They are also much more tanky than Male Hallucigenia’s. Image of what it could look like: Abilities: For Both Genders: Lightweight - Both Male and Female Hallucigenia can press 2 keys to go up or down in the water. This allows for changeable water depth very quickly. This also allows them to be at any water depth in the Center’s ocean. Adaptability - Both Male and Female Hallucigenia have the ability to be on both land and water. For Males Only: Climbing - Male Hallucigenia have the ability to scale up walls and any other surface similar to a Megalania due to their sharp spikes moving them around. This would act just like Megalania but would also be able to move left and right as well. Spore Burst - Male Hallucigenia have the ability to spray a large cloud of all Hallucigenia Spore’s (Hallucigenia Spores disorient, suffocate, slow and tranquillize targets (similar to all the mushrooms on Ab) that affect anyone or creature that goes through it. This ability then goes on cooldown. Spore Beam - Male Hallucigenia have the ability to concentrate a beam of a selected spore type towards an enemy which will both deal the intended effect as well as some damage towards them as well. Spore Types: Tranquillize - Will increase the Torpor of the target rapidly. Damage - Will damage the target rapidly. Suffocation - Will decrease the Oxygen of the target rapidly. Slow - Will decrease the movement speed of the target rapidly. Disorientation - Will disorient the target rapidly. (similar to the death mushrooms on Ab) For Females Only: Carrier - Female Hallucigenia have the ability to carry a large amount of weight and even have a weight decrease for a majority of items. Making the Hallucigenia a great creature for storing and moving items. The Hallucigenia will also still be able to move when it is overburdened but instead can’t have anything else on it. Spiky Back - Whenever a Female Hallucigenia is attacked by another creature it will take a large portion of the damage it dealt back to it. This makes the Hallucigenia a good creature for defending bases. Nudge - Press C to slowly charge on the side you are facing. This will deal significant damage to a creature and give them the impaled status affect for a short duration. This is good for getting creatures off of you that are attacking you from the sides. This attack will also do a good amount of knockback. Last Escape - Hold down a button (X) for 4 seconds to initiate this ability. You will shake rapidly knocking all creatures near you back. The Hallucigenia will then launch all of its spikes out in every direction dealing large chunks of damage to any creature hit by it and gives any hit creature the impaled status affect. If underwater the Hallucigenia will float rapidly towards the surface. Once all this has been completed the Hallucigenia will lose 80% of its health and will gain a temporary speed boost to make a grand escape. It will take a long duration for the spikes to grow back and be used again in abilities that use it. I feel that this ability helps to get your creatures to escape instead of them dying. As I know many people would rather not use a creature for a bit and let them heal rather than losing them forever. Toggleable Ability: Lay Down - Hold for the Toggle Wheel and select Lay. The Female Hallucigenia will then lay down on the ground or on the bed of the sea and act basically as a primitive spiked wall but it is much bigger. This will also heal the creature much more quickly and regain a large amount of Stamina. Taming: In order to tame a Hallucigenia you must first find a wandering baby in the wild. You would then give it a certain amount of Bio-Toxin (20 per level, so if I was trying to tame a lvl 150 Hallucigenia I would have to give it 3000 Bio-Toxin). Once it has calmed down after you have given it the Bio-Toxin it will latch onto your back beginning to drain your health. In order for it to tame it will drain health (or if you have blood packs in your inventory, it will drain those instead) in order to be tamed. Throughout this process the baby Hallucigenia can go out of water, but if it takes any damage it will hop off and ruin the taming. After Taming: Once you have successfully tamed yourself a Juvenile Hallucigenia it is not over yet… Once they are tamed they still need to be nurtured and fed, so once tamed they will have to stay mounted to your back until they reach 25% growth. Once they reach 25% growth they will hop off your back and demand blood to eat, just like wyverns require meat and wyvern milk. (This stage of getting a Hallucigenia also applies when you have bred one, it must mount you and drain your blood until 25% growth) Other Important Things: Basic Hallucigenia saddle unlock at Lvl 72 (will be used for both Male and Female Hallucigenia). Platform Saddle (For Males Only) will unlock at Lvl 83. Baby Hallucigenia take a large portion of time to grow, (roughly the same amount of time to grow as a Rex) After mating Hallucigenia will lay eggs just like many other species in Ark. Hallucigenia must be underwater to begin Mating. And that it is for this concept! I hope you enjoyed and it would be much appreciated if you could upvote this creature as I feel it would make a great addition to Ark’s Oceans!
  14. There are currently only 4 to 5 (including the Managarmr) synapsids or stem-mammals and stem-reptiles present in Ark Survival Evolved, though. While gorgonopsid has been featured in around 5 creature submissions so far, of the creatures requested for addition to Aberration in Ark Survival Ascended. One unique addition to Ark recommended by myself and my team, would be a fictional species of the popular Diictodon. A small therapsid that lived in Africa and Asia in the Late Permian and was one of the most widespread Permian species found to date. This idea is based on my team’s suggestions, though shares similar concepts present in artwork from DracoSerpentor77 at https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/966-introducing-the-burrowing-messenger-diictodon, and RyuouShenron with the Bulbasaurus at https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/687803-bulbasaurusa-slightly-larger-dinosaur-resembling-lystrosaurus. They deserve credit and reference for similar yet great ideas and I would definitely recommend checking their ideas out. Common Name: Diictodon Species: Diictodon aberratios Time: Late Permian Diet: Herbivorous Temperament: Colonial Tameable: Yes Rideable: No Breedable: Yes Torpidity Immune: No Taming Method: Passive Preferred Kibble: Regular Preferred Food: Savoroot Equipment: “Diictodon Burrowing-Satchel” (Level 40 - Crafted at either a Smithy, by hand in a Player’s inventory or on an Argentavis saddle) Rider Weaponry: No Humans Can Carry: Yes https://nixillustration.com/science-illustration/2020/diictodon/ Wild "On guard, a Diictodon aberratios scout watches from a mound, monitoring in awareness of its surroundings. About 1.6 ft in height, these small subterranean specialists are abundant in their tunnel systems throughout the bioluminescent marshes and element falls throughout the Aberration. Colonial animals, Diictodon are endurant and able to survive the harshest conditions, mainly through their social networks and behaviours, thriving off the roots, water-filled tubers and aquatic plants that line the riverbanks, floodplains and hills. Their unique muscle anatomy and tusks in males are designed for a fossoriality lifestyle, allowing them to avoid predation and fill the niche as perfect subterranean herbivores' '. Domesticated "Being quite social and only becoming aggressive if disturbed or threatening their offspring, Diictodon are curious animals, and can be easily domesticated. They are very loyal and tend to bond easier and faster in the presence of other Diictodon. Their complex social bonds create hierarchical and role-based occupations within these communities designated to each Diictodon member. This behaviour can be used by a survivor to access materials from underground and expand their territory. Anatomy Discovered originally and named in 1876 by Richard Owen, Diictodon or “two-weasel toothed” is an extinct genus of pylaecephalid dicynodont synapsid or stem-mammals that originate from the Late Permian on the supercontinent of Pangaea. More than 6 species have been considered under this genus, including D. galeops, D. feliceps, D. grimbeeki, D. ictidops, D. palustris, D. parrington, and D. psittacops, mainly from digsites in Zambia (the Madumabisa Mudstone of the Luangwa Basin), South Africa (the Tropidostoma Assemblage Zone of the Teekloof Formation, the Tapinocephalus Assemblage of the Abrahamskraal Formation, the Dicynodon Assemblage Zone of the Balfour Formation, and the Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone of the Middleton Formation), and China (Guodikeng Formation). Diictodon was one of the most successful and widespread species of synapsids to have lived in the Late Permian, with approximately half of all South African Permian fossil specimens belonging to the genus. Their elaborate tunnelling and digging behaviours allowed them to fill a vacant niche and resulted in a widespread range, primarily present in floodplains and the arid scrublands that dotted the supercontinent. Diictodon is one of the most popular “stem-mammals' ' or therapsids, sharing many features prominent in mammals, and convergently in subterranean species. Diictodon had disproportionately large heads with a horny beak, short, round/cylindrical body, stubby yet highly developed muscular legs and 5 sharp claws on each wide hand. Males bear erupted and downward facing tusks (and being larger - sexual dimorphism) from the upper lip, while the females were tuskless. Their jaws were quite simplified with some bones dedicated to hearing, and their humerus/humerual bone shows no signs of growth marks, suggesting further digging adaptations. Their beaks and skull anatomy were designed for uprooting water-rich tubers and underground root systems. The tunnels of Diictodon were quite large and would spiral down in a corkscrew (convergently similar to the rodent Paleocastor) into the ground (at depths of a maximum of 1 ½ metres, though most were on average 0.5 metres or 1.6 feet in depth), eventually reaching a terminal chamber where the young were nurtured. Most Diictodon burrows also belonged to other species, usually being abandoned. Diictodon lived more gopher-like lifestyles when compared to other subterranean organisms (including the fictional species), living in deep solitary burrows that were not connected to other Diictodon tunnels. Their burrows played a crucial role in surviving the Permian’s drastic and arid climate with the intense thermal heat present in the deserts and scrublands of Pangaea. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diictodon#/media/File:Iziko_Diictodon_Corkscrew.JPG Of the habitats that Diictodon has been uncovered, one paleoenvironment of focus would be the Balfour Formation. The Balfour Formation contains a wide variety of Late Permian fauna, primarily burnetiamorph biarmosuchians, rubidgeine gorgonopsians, therapsids like Inostrancevia, therocephalians like Moschorhinus kitchingi, the primitive species Charassognathus gracilis, parareptilia, captorhinidae reptiles, younginiformes such as Youngina capensis, fish and temnospondyl amphibians. Flora such as the genus Glossopteris were also abundant at the site. The site is sandstone-rich and contains the remains of meandering rivers and foreland basins. Design The design of Diictodon should be similar to the original species, containing the same basic anatomy: https://www.pbs.org/video/how-dinosaurs-coupled-up-knepg5/ The species of synapsid should also contain features that correlate with the map Aberration, that being a small bioluminescent organ on the top of the snout, similar to Bulbasaurus: https://thecreaturecodex.tumblr.com/post/174445236519/bulbasaurus Its colour palette should consist of more vibrant blues, greens and sometimes dark purples to blend in and camouflage with the terrain and ground of the habitats it thrives in. Abilities - Diictodon and their Dicynodontid relatives are social organisms, living in communities similar to meerkats or ground squirrels. Diictodon aberratios are known to settle in communities, usually with tunnel systems and burrows that connect to different hubs or nests. This behaviour grants tamed Diictodon an imprinting and “social boost” on specific states such as health, stamina and movement speed. - Within these communities, females do not nurture their young. In fact infant Diictodon specimens preserved in discovered brood chambers suggest that males might have raised the infants and provided parental care within this genus. This is due to males being tusked and being able to dig burrows and protect said burrow, unlike female Diictodon specimens that are tuskless. - Using humeral exertion in rotation thrusting and the strength of their tusks, Diictodon are able to burrow. Unlike a Purlovia, Diictodon will burrow and move underground in a given direction similar to rollrats. Diictodon can be given specific items that they will search for, either on the surface or underground, including blue, red and green gems, metal, stone or (2.5% chance) element ore. Any materials found in a specified area will be returned back to its delivery points (which is located outside and away from a burrow). Their movements can be tracked using a Transponder Tracker paired with a Diictodon Burrowing-Stachel, this can allow a player to approximate the location of Diictodon underground and increase carrying capacity by 50%. - Diictodon has an imprinting level system. - Diictodon can be taught (in their behaviour menu) to scout based on imprint levels. The higher imprint and social boost from other tamed Diictodon members grants certain Diictodon the ability to scout. By creating small holes in the Ark’s surface, Diictodon scouts will stay on high alert and send calls to the rest of the community. These messages are then transferred to the nesting points, which in the case of an attack on a Diictodon colony. Diictodon will retreat back into their burrows, or send calls that can be heard and relayed by either another Diictodon or a tamed Parasaurolophus. - Certain males based on imprinting levels can be designated to work as caretakers, protecting the young and tending to their food. Food in their inventory works as a miniature trough in times of hunger, when offspring are starving. - At max imprinting, a set of Diictodon can be relocated out of a colony as a mob (a traditional colony) or form at random a separate mound system known as “soil plugs”, a behaviour (which can be cancelled by the player) present in gophers and large burrowing rodentia (as well as the actual genus Diictodon). This form of colony is more individualistic, with certain Diictodon living in mating pairs within a single burrow. This enhances a mating boost by 10% (influencing mutations and dedication in raising offspring - nurturing), but does not increase social bonding amongst other Diictodon. - In the scenario that offspring are fatally vulnerable, male and female Diictodon will fight back predators given the chance. A colony of Diictodon can easily overwhelm and scare off smaller predators, mainly through the use of sharp shear-like teeth (once a predator is injured, Diictodon will not chase the predator and rather regroup in their tunnels). - If paired with a wild roll rat, Diictodon can burrow underground and follow roll rats as they search for food, picking up any scraps or drops unrooted by the emerge of a roll rat. Weakness - To balance out the abilities of the Diictodon, these animals are quite small and can be picked off by larger carnivores if they are outside of their burrows (ranging from Raptors to Sarcosuchus). - Aberrant and normal Purlovia are specialised in uprooting tunnelling Diictodon. If a Purlovia stumbles across a Diictodon while it is underground, it can dig the small dicynodont out and quickly ensnare and kill the animal. This still applies if the Diictodon tries to dig itself underground, being applied a slowness and cancellation ability for burrowing. - In the settling of colonies, Diictodon located too close to certain river bodies are both at risk from sarcosuchus, kaprosuchus, baryonyx and spinos. Diictodon can also drown if trying to swim across certain water bodies, and in a 5% chance. Colonies built on riverways can flood, causing a debuff that can destroy nesting sites and kill offspring within the nests. Specimens of Diictodon have been uncovered in and around Permian floodplains, with some being suggested to have drowned from water flowing into the nests during the wet season with river bursts. 15. Name: sollersaurus Name meaning: dexterous lizard Diet: omnivorous Temperament: neutral or aggressive Dossier: Wild: Found in the higher and more empty regions of the fertile zone, sollersaurus is a bizarre creature to say the least having attributes that make this beast feel right at home in this twisted ark having a build well suited for taking damage and scaling the maps caverns aswell as having a frill on its head and stripes and spots along its body which can change colour if they are happy / satisfied or threatened / aggressive. Sollersaurus is commonly spotted in the wild alone but can also be seen in small groups with the largest group I’ve discovered having four members. the animal can eat crops but prefers high quality meats such as mutton or prime eat or it’s favourite kibble. The sollersaurus seems to have a rivalry with the ravagers also found throughout the fertile region as conflicts between the two species is quite common. Tamed: As a creature sitting comfortably at the high end of the middle of the food chain, sollersaurus is a great mount for survivors wanting to traverse the carverns walls easier, is great for defence and offence and surprisingly makes a pretty good companion. Abilities: Ability 1 - “climbing” Press the jump button when next to a cliff side or natural wall to begin scaling it, the sollersaurus uses its powerful arms and legs to haul itself and its rider up until they reach the top or run out of stamina. To keep sollersaurus from tiring out while climbing you can increase a new stat unique to the creature called core strength, levelling this stat will increase its speed when climbing till its climb speed is 65% of a rock drakes and can also decrease the amount of damage the animal takes by giving it up to 20 base armour. *imprinting does stack with this* ^ Ability 2 - “intimidation” when confronted with an enemy creature press down on the right joystick (if your on console) to open your frill and roar which will scare off creatures not bold enough to take you on (scares away carnivores up to the size of raptors with one roar except ravagers) you can stack this ability with up to 3 sollersaurus’ to scare off any creature other than spinos, reapers, karkinos, rock drakes and certain water creatures with this effect lasting 15 seconds. When intimidating a foe, your sollersaurus’ frill has glow spots on its frill and body which can shine an aggressive red colour. This ability has a cool down of 3 minutes when alone and can be reduced to a maximum of 1 minute when accompanied by two or more sollersaurus’. Ability 3 - “stance switch” press LT (again if your on console) to swap between being quadrupedal and bipedal with bipedal mode also being able to work with the intimidation ability, while bipedal you can swing your forearms to cause bleed damage by pressing RT (console AGAIN) but you are 40% as fast than you would be in quadrupedal mode. If you are bipedal and hit a rock you can gather stone, flint and small amounts of metal but this does take a larger chunk of stamina than attacking a creature (you can increase how much resources you get from hitting a rock similar to Ankys and doeds), when quadrupedal you can bite creatures and players by also pressing RT, you are also faster in this stance. Taming: *you will need to be in a heightened man made structure so the sollersaurus can’t attack you* To tame a sollersaurus you need to let it trust you and show it you can be companions, this is achieved by isolating a sollersaurus and dropping food for it to munch on with it requiring foods such as raw mutton, raw prime meat, rockarrot, savoroot, long rads and citronal aswell as regular kibble (the different foods give varying taming effectiveness with the crops giving the least and kibble giving the most) . after feeding the animal up to 50% taming it will allow you to get close to it from there you can stroke the frill which is timed so you’d have to perform the action in enough time, failing to do so will reduce taming progress and the creature will attack you, you’ll know if you’ve completed the ask as the taming bar will go up and the frill will open and glow a docile green colour. From the you’d continue the process until it is tamed. The sollersaurus saddle unlocks at level 40 and costs fibre, hide, fungal wood and metal to craft and can be crafted in a smithy. More information: The default survivor height is roughly around the same height as the sollersaurus’ shoulder. Sollersaurus can have different coloured frills with only the bioluminescent dots on its frill and tail going from green to red depending on if it’s fighting or not.
  16. WILD Protostega is one of the most interesting and mysterious animals of hostile Aberration. These turtles inhabit the entire water area of the Bio-Luminescent Chamber, spending most of their day hunting cnidarias. They will not attack the survivors unless they themselves are not touched. The speed of the protostega is quite high in the water but very slow on land, so the fight with it is not difficult. Hunting for protostega is necessary only for the extraction of a unique resource - a shell fragment, and so this turtle does not represent any nutritional value THE METHOD OF TAMING Prostostegs have poor eyesight and in the wild they mostly rely on light coming from the creatures themselves or the environment. That's why, survivor, you need to prepare the setting for a candlelit dinner. Be sure not to forget to cook a Blue Kambucha - the only treat for this turtle, which consists of Biotoxin, Rare Flowers, Aquatic and Ascerbic Mushrooms (made in Cooking Pot). Despite the fact that this drink is toxic to survivors and causes an effect comparable to the spores of poisonous flowers - protostegs love it and willingly take it directly from their hands DOMESTICATED These turtles have a pretty decent supply of health, which gives them an advantage during combat. Protostegs are also a real danger for alien karkinos, get it for yourself and you will get a supply of Organic Polymer for life. And if your dinosaurs are tired of fighting and they need recharging, then protostega can be an excellent replacement for daeodon - the main thing is not to forget to make enough Blue Kambucha. BREEDING Breeding these turtles is not easy. Since these are residents of one of the most inaccessible regions, they mate only at low temperatures around -30 °. Then the procedure is standard - you just need to hatch an egg and monitor the fulfillment of their desires
  17. I feel like using custom art in the creature votes makes it impossible for 95% of people to get past page 2. the top 10 always have amazing art that does not resemble the animal in question at all think of: miracornyx chimerarachne the motobite. i feel like it would be more fair to the majority of the people participating if we were only allowed to use actual reconstructions, fossils and living relatives to make clear what animal you are actually voting for. that means you can still make art but it has to be a scientificly accurate reconstruction and you can make art of their abilities. i think this would level the playing field so that really ANYONE can get their creature into the top 10. This one is for all my homies in page 3-15
  18. Common Name: Edmontosaurus Species: Edmontosaurus annectens Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: "When I first saw this colossal herbivore, I thought it was a gentle animal. But that's not the case with Edmontosaurus. This creature usually goes in small herds of 4 individuals and at least one member of the group is a baby. For this reason, adults show extremely territorial behavior against any possible threat. Even if you are a newly arrived survivor! The Edmontosaurus on this ark have evolved by developing a complex bioluminescent system. When their body does not generate light, it means that they are calm while walking through the mushroom forests. But as soon as the light on their bodies turns red, it is a warning sign because they feel threatened and could soon respond aggressively." Domesticated: "Some survivors discovered that the Edmontosaurus's diet can affect its bioluminescence. By consuming any type of mushroom, it is capable of releasing certain spores around it and allowing the creature to use abilities that in the wild it would not be able to. Any ally within his radius will be under a healing or lighting effect, depending on what their tamer decides. Allied dinos recover their health faster and the nameless don't even dare to come to the surface with Edmontosaurus present! There is also a third ability that the creature can use once it consumes mushrooms. It consists of concentrating its spores and releasing them in a powerful shock wave that damages everything within the radius. This allows the Edmontosaurus to harvest any material around it and deal heavy damage to any enemies nearby. This set of skills makes the edmontosaurus a worthy rival to apex predators or even bosses and a great explorer of the radioactive zone Introduction: Greetings survivors! I present to you my humble idea of the Edmontosaurus, the massive herbivore of aberration The main functions of this dino consist of: Rol as a Support Instant healer Light creature Area damage Tank turrets Area Harvester Immunity to torpor, toxins and radiation Ability to find max-level creatures Taming helper Wild: Edmontosaurus usually roam the green zone of aberration, although they can rarely be seen in the blue zone. As they are the largest herbivore on this ark (rivaling in size with spinosaurus or even a reaper king), only a maximum of one herd can spawn (between 4 and 5 specimens, one of them being a baby). They are not fast, but they can be very insistent when they enter a territorial state. Taming Process: Since the adults are too dangerous, the only alternative is to tame the baby of the herd. The process is complex: being a bioluminescent creature, the survivor must attract the baby with a light creature. It should be approached little by little, with the light creature turned on and without attracting the attention of adults.(It is recommended to wear a camouflage suit. Only the baby will detect you if you have the light on) Once the baby becomes curious, it will slowly approach until it is within reach of the survivor. When the baby starts to wag its tail, turn off the light and wait for the edmontosaurus start a light sequence. Once finished, the baby will turns his head to the side and that means it is your turn to imitate the pattern. If you repeat the pattern correctly using your light creature, the baby will let itself be fed by you. But if you make a mistake, the baby will start crying and the adults will respond aggressively. As you tame the baby, the confidence of the adults will change depending on the taming bar. From 1% to 25% domestication, adult edmontosaurus will be territorial if they spot you. from 26 to 50% domestication, adults will only watch you in case they detect you. From 51 to 100% domestication, the adults will no longer be territorial, unless you make the baby cry. Once the little edmontosaurus has been domesticated, the wild adults will no longer behave territorially towards the survivor, unless a new baby appears in the herd. Tamed: Congratulations! You have tamed an Edmontosaurus. Like any baby, you will need to spend time and care with it until it becomes an adult and finally uses its abilities. Actions: Primary Attack: A basic bite attack. It doesn't deal much damage, but it does help you harvest berries, fiber, wood, and straw. Secondary Attack: Generates a radius that allows you to use any of the edmontosaurus' spore abilities (requires consuming 100 mushrooms of any type) Spores Abilities (Click C, , ): Allows the Edmontosaurus to activate any of its 3 spore abilities. (healing state, lighting state, shock wave) Bipedal posture (Press Control, , ): allows the dino to stop using its quadrupedal stance and move bipedally, making it faster when walking or running (spore abilities not available in this state) Spores Abilities: Each spore ability requires the edmontosaurus to consume a total of 100 mushrooms of any type. This will recharge a spore fuel that will appear next to the survivor's inventory (just like mek fuel). Depending on which skill you use, the edomontosaurus will consume a certain percentage of this fuel. Heal state: When it activates, it instantly heals allies for 25% of the Edmontosaurus's total health (the more health the dino has, the more it heals) Then, over a 5 min period, all allies within range will be healed for a 5% of Edmontosaurus's total health constantly. Once that period is over, the edmontosaurus will be able to use any of its spores ability again. (Using this skill will consume 25% of the spore fuel) Lighting state: When activated, it creates a lighting effect on all allies within its radius. Prevents the appearance of nameless and reaper kings. It also allows you to identify max level creatures nearby. This state of the Edmontosaurus combined with a good battle mount, will allow you to fight or tame Reapers. The lighting range will be affected by the amount of stamina on the dino (The more stamina it has, the larger the area affected by the light will be) The duration of this state is 10 minutes. Once finished, the dino will be able to use any of its spore abilities again. (Using this skill will consume 50% of the spore fuel) Shock Wave: When activated, it generates a powerful shockwave that destroys any harvestable material around it and the resources will be stored in the Edmontosaurus's inventory. Enemies that are affected by this ability will take triple the total damage of the dino (example: if the edmontosaurus has 200 damage, the shock wave will do 600 damage) In addition, enemies will be affected by a bleeding and a bones fracture that weaken them for a few seconds. The damage and shockwave effects are instant, but cooldown is 3 minutes to use any of his spore abilities. (using this skill will consume 100% of the spore fuel) Conclusion: Edmontosaurus is a mount with primarily support uses. However, the combination of those skills along with proper upbringing make him an indispensable dino. There are few healers available in the game and few herbivores capable of taking on dangerous predators like rexes, reapers, or even gigas. Edmontosaurus opens the door for a hervivorean (not counting titanosaurus) to be able to take on the ark's dangerous apex predators. Thanks you
  19. SPECIES: Thylacinus cynocephalus SIZE: Length 5-6.2 ft.; 2 ft. tall at shoulder; Weight up to 77 lbs. BODY PARTS: Wide jaws with strong teeth, striped back HABITAT: Tasmania, an island off southern Australia PREY: Kangaroos, wallabies, sheep WHEN? Species dates back to 23 million years ago; became extinct in mid-1930s Killing at night with a bone- crushing bite, the Tasmanian wolf decimated sheep herds and struck fear and outrage into sheep farmers. Superstitions even arose that this wolf craved blood like a vampire. The animal was eventually hunted to an early extinction. BIG MOUTH: The wolf could open its jaws enormously wide, at an angle of over 160°, much wider than a normal wolf. The animal's powerful jaw muscles helped it smash through the bones of its victims. INVISIBLE STALKER: Dark stripes, numbering nine to thirteen, started at the middle of the back and ran down its body along the tail. They provided camouflage as the wolf watched for prey from the shadows. When the Tasmanian wolf was first spotted, no one knew exactly what it was. Some called it a tiger, some a wolf and others a zebra wolf. Most agreed it was a bloodthirsty killer, and people shot, poisoned and trapped the animal until there were no more left. The last known Tasmanian wolf died at Hobart Zoo in Australia on Sept. 7, 1936. MOOD SWING: The wolf's 2-foot-long tail was stiff and thick at the base. The animal could sit back on it like a kangaroo. Unlike dogs, this animal didn't wag its tail to show its mood. CLOSE KIN: Despite its name, the Tasmanian wolf is much more closely related to a kangaroo than a wolf. Like many animals from the Australian area, it was a member of the marsupial group of mammals. RACK OF LAMB: With jaws open wide, the Tasmanian wolf could grab onto prey, such as sheep or a kangaroo, with a death-grip in one bite. Sometimes it simply bit into its victim's throat. Other times it would take an animal's entire head in its jaws, exerting tremendous pressure to crush the skull for an instant kill. The Tasmanian wolf devoured its prey straight away while the carcass was still fresh. It tore off meat until its belly was full. DID YOU KNOW? Early settlers thought that the Tasmanian wolf could hop on its hind legs like a kangaroo. Mechanics: Harvesting: With its powerful jaws it can harvest a lot of mutton and keratin from herbivores but not chitin from bugs. Note Finding: When having one following you it will tell you if an explorer note is nearby. Taming: To tame one you need to separate one from its pack and once its calm and collected you can lure one in with mutton chops and once fed it will retreat and you must follow it until is stops and lays down. once calm you must appear not threatening by removing and heavy armor not having any weapons in your inventory or creatures with you then feed it once again and comfort it. if it deems you a threat it will attack and kill you. Steps: It will ask for comfort food Request a pet or Ask to play fetch (Boomerang required) Pack Abilities: When in a pack it can generate an effect that staves off small predators like spiders, bats and Titanoboas. like a deinonychus a single wolf can latch onto a creature and drain its blood and if in a pack it can cause serious damage, but it wont work on bigger creatures but it will slow them down. Tek Harness: Being an aberrant creature on the station it possesses a connection to charge and with the construction of a Tek harness it can focus the charge like a charge lantern so you don't have to use one or put on down to stave off the nameless and you can have them walk around while you gather resources. it even has a turret mode. Over all i think this creature might be fun. we can always use more adorable little killers in survival games lol.
  20. Wild: Ikrandraco is a wonder to watch in the wilds of Aberration. It has an amazing agility compared to the other fliers, thanks to its large tip chin which looks similar to a fin. The large wings allow it to fly from one plane to another with ease. Due to the radiation, the Ikrandraco has grown to almost 10 times its original size and has developed unusual characteristics. For example, the crest on the head or the protruding thin membranes on the back. The Ikrandraco can cling very well to steep cliffs with its long claws on the foreleg and hind leg and spot its prey from there. The Ikrandraco has the ability to take down the Nameless with ease. With its sharp needle-shaped teeth, it is excellent at harvesting Nameless venom. In addition, its skin is excellently camouflaged in the dark caves of Aberration by its bioluminescence. Domesticated: Anyone who tames a Ikrandraco has an excellent tame to collect food for the larger Rock Drake's to breed. The ability to cling to rocks makes it an excellent companion for exploring the world of Aberration. The Ikrandraco can also carry up to two Survivors on the saddle. The claws on the hind legs are not suitable for carrying small creatures, but still strong enough to latch on cliffs etc Abilitys: - Flying - latching on Cliffs and Structures - can move while latched - does more dmg to nameless (like the pelagornis too fish) - is immne to the poison of the mushrooms & basilisks - can carry up to 2x Survivors - Bioluminenscence Skin (basicly rideable lightpet) (Like Carcha or Rhygnio with the ammunation of a resource)
  21. Name: Laelaps Species: Dryptosaurus Chrysaetos Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Highly Agressive Wild Dryptosaurus Chrysaetos is one of most unique predator I ever seen. Like its name, it uses huge claws on their feet rather then biting. Once it sees its prey, it jumps toward prey, restraint it with its claw, and bite it until death. Also, dryptosaurus is much more agressive than the other predators, which makes it attack everything, including its own kind Domesticated For hunting, transporting, mining, and exploring, dryptosaurus becomes the most valuable choice for tribe. They even said that it has a unique pheromone on its feather, which makes it immunite from radioactive. But to tame it, it requires special part of organism for satisfaction, such as brain, heart, claws, teeth, and so on. Stats Health: 950 Stamina: 1000 Oxygen: 140 Food: 3000 Weight: 450 Melee Damage: 54 Movement speed: 100% Torpor: 1200 Behavior Laelaps spawns in mostly red zone, and extremly rarely at blue zone of Abberation. Simmular to karprosuchus, raptor, and thylacoleo, when laelaps detect survivors (or any other creatures), it will jump to ward to survivor, restaint it with its claws on its feet. When you gets restaint by laelaps, you will get Gashed effect. Also, they gets 1.2 damage compensation when its wild, just like wyverns. Laelaps is much more agressive than other predators, since they attack Almost every single creatures on ark, including its own kind. The only creatures that dosen't attacked by wild laelaps is Giganotosaurus, Charcharodontosaurus, Titanosaurus, Quetzal, Wyvern, Rock elemental, and Karkinos. If you kill wild laelaps, it will drop tribute called 'Dryptosaurus claw'. Taming laelaps can be tamed by special kind of Knock-out taming. First, you need to make laelaps unconcious. if you knock out laelaps, it will read as 'Laelaps is not satisfied to eat'. to satisfy laelaps, you must feed your tributes. Here is list of tributes, and number of them needed to satisfy laelaps. Reaper Pheromone - 1 needed Giganotosaurus heart - 1 needed Titanoboa venom - 2 needed Tusoteuthis tenticle - 3 needed Whyvern claws - 6 needed Deathworm horn - 8 needed Basilosaurus blabber - 10 needed Spinosaurus sail - 15 needed Rockdrake feather - 16 needed Basilisk scale - 16 needed Gasbag bladder - 16 needed Thylacoleo hook-claw - 18 needed Crystal claw - 20 needed Sauropod vertibrate - 24 needed Yutyrannus lung - 30 needed Megalania venom - 35 needed Tyrannosaurus arm - 37 needed Alpha tributes - 40 needed Allosaurus brain - 42 needed Dryptosaurus claw - 42 needed Sarcosuchus skin - 45 needed Megalodon teeth - 85 needed Once it eats certain amount of tributes, it will read 'Satisfied' and will starts eating what's on its inventory. Abilities Bite (Left click): gives 54 damage Jump attack (Right click): gives 10 damage. Aim point will appear first. Click again to jump on target. Only restaintalbe if target's base weight is under 500. Ground shake (C gives): 20 damage. Laelaps will jump high and crash to the ground, stunning small creatures nearby. Mine (Left click, only with mining helmet): gives 60 damage. Can collect stones, flints, metal, crystal, gems, etc from rock. pheromone production: Like Basilosaurus, laelaps will produce consumable called 'Laelaps pheromone'. If you consume this, you will be immunite from radioactive from 2 minutes. Also, laelaps it self is also immunite from radioactive. Saddles Normal saddle: unlocked in level 57 Mining helmet: unlocked in level 57; equiping this to laelaps enable it to harvest rocks and crystals, just like Ankylosaurus. Also gives additional melee damage (54 increases to 60). Bariations Laelaps has Abberant version of it. TMI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryptosaurus Dryptosaurus was closely related to Tyrannosaurus The species name of laelaps, Chrysaetos, was came from golden eagle. Hope you guys like this idea 🦖 🦖
  22. Choose this goofy little goober if your a real one!
  23. Is anyone else having this issue where you drag your favorite creatures from 1 to 10 and you click submit, but it gets stuck infinitely submitting your vote?
  24. name cambroraster falcatus time period cambrian temperament neutral diet omnivore abilities none I feel like there are too many animals with gimmicks so I figure we should just add one for ambience. The cambroraster will swim around and is a source of chitin and fish meat but is otherwise useless. This creature should be added because I think it would really stand out from the competition and it is a good looking animal that is not well known and I think ARK: Survival Evolved should really focus on educating the public about prehistoric life as the gamers of today are the scientists of tomorrow. Thank you for reading my submission and I hope you have a good day
  25. ARK has a lot of awesome sea creatures but what about various sharks? Don't you think it's time for sharks to get more love? I'm here to (re)introduce you to Alopias Grandis, AKA, The Thresher Shark. But I'm talking about the ancient version, a lot bigger than today's version! Below, read the original description about this creature. I am open to new ideas and suggestions! Feel free to leave a comment of some suggestions or ideas! This creature is big, beautiful and even with it's large teeth and speed, it has a long tail that can whip away potential enemies! I hope you vote for this creature. Common Name: Thresher Species: Alopias grandis Time: Miocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Reclusive Wild: Alopias's most distinguishing feature is its massive caudal fin, which doubles its length from an already respectable size that would be similar to the Megalodon had Alopias had a more standard tail. Alopias uses this fin to great effect, arcing its tail over its head to use it as a whip to stun prey. This shark is a pelagic species, and favors water near the surface. Domesticated: Actually taming is simple enough: feeding it its preferred prey, fish, is enough to earn its trust. The real challenge comes from the process leading up to this point. You see, adults cannot be tamed, and a baby must be tamed instead. This species does not exhibit parental care, meaning that infant individuals are easy prey from the larger predators of the sea, and must be protected during this process. Should you tame one, and it reaches maturity, you are now in possession of one of the most useful predators of the water. The shock wave emitted by its tail spreads rapidly, able to stun entire schools of fish. However, the shock wave dissipates just as fast, meaning Alopias must get within its own body length for its stun to be at its best effect. Even mighty predators like Teusoteuthus and Mosasaurus are not entirely immune to this, and must not charge straight in. Alopias can even breach the surface to whip low flying flyers out of the sky! (Art by HodariNundu) (Credit to OG poster nmheath03) I am open to new ideas and suggestions! Feel free to leave a comment of some suggestions or ideas! Check out this awesome dossier by Shadlos!
