Anguis Rarus, the Drake of the Wastelands
SpinosaurIso posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Hi everyone! I wanted to focus on Extinction's wasteland: a creature that would make the wastelands more livable when tamed, speciflcally. Also, I thought it would be fun if the wasteland had its own wyvern-like variant. I'm so sorry there's so little information rn, I'm busy with college and haven't had the time to draft a description! I hope the tags clarify things until I'm able to put something better together... I don't have access to research on the real-world Anguis Rarus, so I don't know if they were true legless lizards or not... I do like the little legs, though, at least for the sake of making them different from basilisks. Edit: 1. "Meteor Protection" Your angu can predict an oncoming meteor storm. Too far from safety? It's ok, just go underground! The angu can burrow underground while keeping its rider perfectly safe, either allowing you to get to a safe place, or allowing you to continue exploring! 2. "Increased Damage After Killing Corrupt Creatures" The Angu has a grudge to bear against corrupt creatures, and upon killing enough of them, it will enter into a frenzy! I'm not sure what the damage buff should be in this case, probably better off if somebody with more experience in game dev figures that out. Yes, this would hopefully work in loot/element raids. 3. "Corrupt Creature Deaggro" That glowing throat pouch allows the Angu to deliver a wretching scream, which seems to temporarily confuse corrupted creatures! Good for getting the little pests off your back. 4. "Preserves Corrupt Nodules" The anguis can preserve corrupt nodules for a long period -- poly in droves for you! This one might be a little OP, so I won't be disappointed if it wouldn't make the cut. 5. "Wasteland Debuff Reduction" If it's gonna be a creature that makes the wastelands more fun, being able to reduce the debuff is key to that. Gross explanation: it's some kind of slime they secrete from being element-affected. 6. "Breath Attack" Speaking of gross ideas, (and them being wyvern-adjacent), one of the largest living legless lizards is mythologized to turn into glass -- so, what if that element-affected throat patch allows them to frow up a chemical mixture that crystallizes instantly, allowing them to perform crowd control during loot/element raids? I feel like that idea could be better expanded on, but gotta throw it out there. Open to suggestions on how they should be tamed! I'm always partial to KO taming, though.-

DossierEDAPHOSAURUS SPECIES: Edaphosaurus Pognias TIME: Late Carboniferous- early Permian DIET:Omnivore TEMPERAMENT: Aggressive WILD Edaphosaurus may not be fast on land, but it does have one hell of a bite giving of a venom affect which can paralyse anything within seconds. I’ve also noticed that Edaphosaurus’s teeth are able to crush rocks with just their bare teeth, this is probably to sharpen their teeth but they could also be very good creatures to assist in farming. WILD Edaphosaurus Pognias otherwise known as Edaphosaurus is an apex killer in this desolated planet, standing at the same height of a gigantosaurus it truly is amazing how two apex predators can share a territory and not start a war between species, this may be because Edaphosaurus has adapted to an omnivorous diet, allowing it to feast on both animals and different fauna. WILD Edaphosaurus poses huge amounts of body and leg strength allowing it to burrow and move at , incredible speeds in all types of terrain. WILD Standing high and mighty Edaphosaurus is a predator, with a landing crush being able to leave any creature on their death bed. DOMESTICATED I believe getting it will it leaves itself open may be the perfect time to strike, firing at its knee caps while standing tall may inflict enough damage to make it fall and knock itself out from the rough impact to the head, allowing you to feed it. Having one of these gigantic creatures could really help with advancing a tribes defences. ABILITIES .venom bite .burrow .standing position + crushing stomp . tail swipe standing position + fear roar (able to scare up to rex size) CREATOR NOTES: Edaphosaurus is a large carnivore that matches sizes with Carch and giga and almost has the strength of the both of them combined, but when standing on its hind legs it’s able to nearly double the size of both. When it stands on its hind legs u will be able to use abilities like a stomp which deals enough damage to kill up to a rex sized creature in one shot, while standing u will also have the abilities to activate a fear roar that lasts for half as long but affects up to rex sized creatures. to tame this Titan you’ll need to get its agro and get it to chase you around until it finally stands on its hind legs. After that step u will need to shoot it with any weapon that can shoot from a range until it falls over, u are then able to feed and tame this bellowing Titan. pls vote for the Edaphosaurus today so you can make extinction much funner and have more variety than just the Carch and Giga! there may be a couple errors in the writing in dossier pls try to ignore them TY!

Diictodon - The Bold Farmer's Hand!
WynstanArbiter posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Introducing Diictodon audax! Common Name: Diictodon Scientific Name: Diictodon audax Time: Late Permian Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial WILD: I keep thinking I know just about every species present on the ARK's, and yet in the case of Diictodon audax, there still may just be some surprises still under our noses. Diictodon are almost entirely fossorial, living a vast majority of their lives under the ground in colonies, searching for roots and tubers to feed on. Though most colonies I have found in some of the more drier climates of the ARK, I have been told by survivors that they will settle in any area that has access to crops, where harvests will begin to show a lighter yield than anticipated. Don't let their size fool you however, Diictodon are ferociously territorial and will stand their ground, putting on quite the display that I've seen disorient and frighten most would be predators! Though it must be said, their bark is certainly worse than their bite. DOMESTICATED: I've seen a few methods survivors use to befriend local colonies, however the most common method, dubbed "Diictodon Fishing", luring individuals to the surface with treats and pets. Those of us more impatient have also resorted to more 'explosive' methods of flushing, which albeit efficient, can yield unforeseen consequences if not careful. A Diictodon colony make great additions to any tribes farmhouse. Their knack of the organizational skills mixed with the constant aeration of soil from burrowing allow for crop yield and quality to significantly increase over time, as long as you are willing to share the fruits of your labour of course. I have also seen tribes utilize some of the colonies bolder individuals as a great guard dogs to deter any would be attackers getting to close for comfort. Though they may be good at putting on a show, its best not to stick around, lest the Diictodon's charm begins to wear. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love a new ferocious predator being introduced to ARK as much as the next person, however I am always keen to see new and unique ideas introduced to expand on some of Ark's less focused features. One of which is farming, which admittedly tends to be something that I will usually forget about most play throughs, with times that I do thinking its a chore to work on. This has influenced my design of introducing Diictodon to ARK, with an extra bit of flair to improve overall utility! Summary: To explain what my concept for introducing Diictodon into ARK: -Diictodon colonies spawn as burrows that can be interacted with (think of it as like a structure similar to the beehive in the overworld). -Multiple Diictodon can spawn in a burrow, with the lowest level individual inside usually being the main interactable member. -These "Alphas" will yap, scream and snap at any individuals that come close to their burrow. This will deter most creatures at a certain drag weight to be frightened off or at least deterred from going closer. This behaviour is inspired by many burrowing animals of today, specifically Lemmings that are surprisingly aggressive against anything that approaches their burrows that could be considered a threat. -To tame the Alpha that has been spooked back into their den, the main taming method would involved a survivor placing their arm into the opening of the burrow with a preferred food item on the 0 key, then once successful at luring one to the top, a minigame can play out similar to the fishing minigame to tame your Diictodon. This idea is a bit of a stretch but is based off Noodling, a fishing method practiced by catching hiding catfish by luring and catching them with your bare hands. -Alternatively, a grenade can be placed inside of the burrow to flush out multiple to specifically select your preferred members to tame passively. However expect major resistance from some very upset residents. Again, this idea influenced by another method; Dynamite fishing. -Tamed Diictodon will have two key roles: FARM HAND: Tamed Diictodon can establish new colonies, with these colonies having a radius of influence, depending on the number of members inside. Any crop plots inside of this radius will have similar effects to greenhouse, with the added benefit of helping harvesting. which can be then collected from the main burrow. (Since these individuals will be primarily underground, it wouldn't make sense for them to be able to access a feeding trough, so be sure to leave your workers a little food!). GUARD DOG: As a shoulder mount, you will receive a passive buff from your Diictodon that will work similar to a mix of the Sinamacrops scare and a Ghillie Suit. Smaller aggressive creatures will avoid you whereas larger predators will have a smaller aggression radius. If you have any suggestions as to what you think should be changed or improved, please don't hesitate to share your thoughts! I always appreciate clever ideas being brought up by this amazing community. Do I expect the Diictodon to win? No not at all sadly, however, its always a great time thinking up unique ideas to introduce some amazing animals into this wonderful game! Thanks for reading and happy voting! 😊 Credit for both images goes to Walking with Monsters (2005) by Impossible Pictures.-

Introducing: Paracharonopsis Terranidens, aka, the “Sandclaw”
MiniWatto posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Species: Paracharonopsis Terranidens Common Name: Sandclaw Period: Eocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Paracharonopsis Terranidens, more commonly called the “Sandclaw” is a giant, formidable burrowing insect that spends most of its time under the sand, waiting for prey to pass by. Unlike most insects found on the ARKs, the Sandclaw lacks venom, relying instead on its immense strength and its unique trap ability. When it senses vibrations from above, it vibrates its body, creating a cloud of sand which slows and blinds the victim. The Sandclaw will then emerge from the sand, using its powerful claws to crush and immobilize its prey. Watch out for their antennae poking above the surface! While rarely seen above the surface of the desert, the Sandclaw’s appearance is similar to that of tailless whip scorpions (it is indeed closely related) though it has had the traditional ARK treatment of becoming super-sized, and has a significant amount of chitinous plating and spikes on its claws. Domesticated: Taming a Sandclaw is no easy task. They only warm to humans that bait them with Sandclaw glands, unique organs that can be harvested from dead or unconscious Sandclaws. Even then, they must be forced to surface first without the would-be tamer being killed. Rumour has it this can be safely done with the vibrations from large creatures, or, for the truly brave, by using grenades… Once tamed, however, these colossal insects are a valuable ally. Their trap ability can be used on wild creatures or enemy tribe members, draining their health, movement speed, and stamina. Once trapped, simply surface, and crush your enemy with the Sandclaw’s powerful grip. Just be sure to hold your breath while mounted on a burrowed Sandclaw! Their excellent senses designed for the sand prove useful too, as the Sandclaw is able to find small deposits of rare materials underneath the desert’s surface, and then extract them by digging with its claws. On such a dangerous ARK, this can be important in saving a trip to enemy territory looking for rare resources. Thanks for giving that a read. I’ve based the Sandclaw off the real-life Paracharonopsis Cambayensis, an insect of the same time period. Obviously it never got to such a size, but hey, this is ARK. I love the idea of terrifying creatures burrowing under you, and having to tread lightly on the sand. Deathworms kind of satisfied this, but not being tameable and being kind of obvious to spot reduced the experience. I feel this creature would plug that gap. The name “Terranidens” means “Earth-Biter”. A fitting title I think, for such a desert horror. Imagine wandering the desert alone, hearing a rumble, and suddenly…- 6 replies

A wide and flat worm. It's found in coastal areas like the beaches and would burrow under the sand in a search for food. It a has many bristles around its body that will poison you if you touch it. Though most of the time it's under the sand. When you see one on the coast, there is usually more than one. ALSO JUST REALLY COOL!
