Ouranosaurus anticachemicus, The Lumbering Chemistry Bench
HerreraDude posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Hello fellow survivors, this is my first submission to a creature vote, so if any of this formatting is weird, please bear with me. Anyway, here's my submission for the Aberration creature vote and one of my favorite herbivores, the Ouranosaurus (Art made by me). Common Name: Ouranosaurus Species: Ouranosaurus anticachemicus Time: Early Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Reactive Wild Ouranosaurus anticachemicus is perhaps one of the weirdest herbivores I've seen on the Arks, especially compared to its relative the Iguanodon. Though it is large and bulky, with the ability to unleash punishing stomps and kicks to any aggressor, most predators leave it alone as it peacefully searches for the next berry bush or mushroom patch to feast on. However, the reason why Ouranosaurus seems to be immune to such attacks from large carnivores like Spinosaurus or Carnotaurus may lie in how often times it chews up narcotic-inducing substances and then proceeds to rub them into its skin, causing whatever attacks it to eventually knock itself out. The Ouranosaurus itself seems to be immune to any negative effects caused by its food. Or perhaps it simply has a different effect on the animal, which would certainly explain its lax behaviour! Domesticated Just when it seems this herbivore couldn't get any stranger, it just keeps on surprising! I've talked to tribes who have managed to tame the beasts, telling stories of the Ouranosaurus walking in on them while cooking up stews and curries and patiently waiting for a serving themselves. It appears that the more complex the stew and soup, as long as it contains mushrooms or berries, the more friendly an Ouranosaurus will be towards you, even if it includes meat or eggs. The tribes have also begun to use the bizarre ability to consume literally anything without repercussions and used it to grind together various substances that can be used in place of narcotics or stimulants. I even observed them using an Ouranosaurus to grind up gunpowder and gasoline, fitting a pouch under its snout to collect as the resources ran down its neck. Others decided to allow the Ouranosaurus to simply rub the narcotics all over its body as it would in the wild before riding out into danger, with every foe who attacked them collapsing not long after. No matter which way a survivor decides to use this creature, it is sure to be worthwhile. Habitat: As mentioned in the dossier, the Ouranosaurus will be near mushroom patches and berry bushes, mostly near water sources, generally untouched by most predators due to go along with the idea that predators have found out not to touch them due to their abilities idea, like how monarch butterflies are generally avoided due to being poisonous. Usability: Mobile Chemistry Bench: I can already hear "BUt WhaT About THe EqUUs" comments and how it already functions as mortar and pestle as a saddle. My goal for the Ouranosaurus was not to replace the Equus or any other similar creature, like the Iguanodon, but to offer an alternative (It's slower than both and has no lasso or infinite stamina, in case it was necessary to mention). The Ouranosaurus can make everything that the chemistry bench can, albeit of course at a slower rate to not eliminate the use of a chemistry bench completely as having one on the go can be useful. In order to activate this ability for the Ouranosaurus to grind everything up in its mouth and spit it out, I had the idea that the player must toggle whether or not it will have a pouch beneath its head to collect the resources. While this is toggled, the Ouranosaurus can still attack, but it can't activate its other ability. Chemical Covering If the resource pouch is not toggled, then anything that the Ouranosaurus consumes that has an effect, such as narcoberries, narcotics, or stimberries, the Ouranosaurus will chew up and rub the juices on its body, giving it a coating that reflects said effect onto anything that attacks it, as seen in how a Carnotaurus is knocked out after it bit the Ourano in the dossier. In order to help counteract the overpowered potential of this ability, not only will it not last, but it will also take up a lot of said resources and they will not provide the Ourano food. This process can be helped to tame creatures as this ability pairs well with the bulk and health of this herbivore. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE OF THESE ABILITIES ACTIVE AT A TIME. Travel: The Ouranosaurus is somewhat slow and bulky but has a good amount of stamina, and due to its good stamina usage and recovery, it can cover a long distance with little trouble due to not aggroing many creatures outside of things like reapers, markings, or alphas. It is also immune to radiation, so anywhere is really available as long as you are up for the journey. The saddle will also have a two-person saddle, stretching across the top of the sail and each person sitting on one side, with weapon use allowed. Combat: The Ouranosaurus has two primary attacks, those being a front stomp with both legs and a back kick. Both deal a good amount of damage but lack effects as they wouldn't be necessary. The chemical covering ability can also be used to help knock out enemy tames or wild creatures to render them useless depending on whether the substance eaten has a narcotic effect, or hunger to drop if it ate something like stimberries. The Ouranosaurus itself is immune to any of these effects. Taming: Here's the drawback of taming such a creature with strong physical and unique abilities. As stated, it is necessary to use recipes to tame the Ouranosaurus as long as they have mushrooms or berries in them, and the more complex the recipe, the quicker it will tame. However, it will also follow you home if you recently ate any recipe that followed these requirements and wait around until you've either cooked up a meal for it or until the effect wears off. They will passively hang around the base unless attacked So, why did I choose Ouranosaurus? With its sail and potential for bright colorings and glowing patterns, Ouranosaurus will surely stand out from other creatures on the Ark, which I think is very important for an Ark being all about unique compared to the rest of them, with its main diet being berries and mushrooms due to them being plentiful in the Ark. I also wanted to buff out the sorely lacking herbivore representation in the game, with most of them being weak and starter tames that usually get bodied by the many carnivores that stalk the Arks, which generally isn't true in most cases in real life (Cue "it's a video game" comments. Please hush I want my funky badass hadrosauriform who is also potentially high all the time to beat the crap out of stuff). In the end, I just think it's neat. However, most importantly: If you wouldn't want something like this and would rather have something else, THATS OKAY. I hope you find something you do like and HAVE A GOOD DAY.- 4 replies

**Art on Dossier by Lapis** Wild I've seen alot of prehistroic mammals in my time but I've never seen a Prehistoric Giraffe let alone it being the largest prehistroic relative. Sivatherium Flingerrum is a very strange creature on this ARK mainly its large horns. Unlike Modern Day Giraffes, They're very sharp and wide and I've seen even wild ones pick up and hurl Large boulders at attackers with them. They also use their horns to eat the delicious cactus sap from the cacti of Scorched to supplement their weak stomachs as Sivatherium's have a case of a sick stomach causing them to hurl up their lunch. The Sivatherium's love for Cactus sap is so strong, Sivatherium is easily tamed by letting it lick the Cactus sap off any nearby Survivor. Just don't get covered in its vomit after it takes some sap from you. Domesticated Once tamed, Sivatherium's large horns provide huge utility in raids turning it into a living catapult/slingshot able to hurl boulders or jars of pitch at enemy bases. They also have such a good run speed able to run long distances without consuming stamina and are able to carry large loads for either raids or resource harvesting. And despite the nasty vomit, I've seen survivors use it as a substitute for spoiled meat due to its putrid smell & taste & even making a special spray to scare creatures away from survivors or just hurl its vomit at an opposing force!! Talk about losing your lunch!! Left Click: Horn Slam: Sivatherium swings is large horns at its target causing decent knockback Right Click: Stomp: Sivatherium uses its front feet to hit its target with this attack hitting twice, if looking behind this attack becomes a back kick C Key: If Sivatherium is about to hurl, you can have Sivatherium spit its vomit/hurled lunch at an opponent causing them to lose health slowly while also causing them to gain large amounts of Torpor at a rapid rate due to the horrible smell. X Key: Catapult/slingshot Mode (Able to Launch Catapult Boulders and Jars of Pitch from its Horns. You also be able to create a new ammo type utilizing the vomit to make a giant stink bomb to hurl at opposing forces)(You can also use Catapult Mode to tame Karkinos and Rock Golems) Other Abilities: Sivatherium is able to Sprint without consuming any Stamina similar to Iguanodon (Attacks still cost Stamina), has a High Weight Stat to carry resources across the map, Is able to gather Cactus Sap more efficiently tree to help its weak stomach or you can use its Vomit as a substitute for Spoiled Meat or make a special spray that will scare creatures away from you for a period of time. Taming: Option 1: To Tame Sivatherium, You must approach it while you have Cactus Sap in your zero slot. Sivatherium will approach and start to lick you and the cactus sap out of your inventory. Be careful to not let it lick you for that long as after eating too much cactus sap, it will Vomit on you and the smell of the vomit will scare the Sivatherium away and ruin its taming effectiveness. Option 2: Use a Catapult on its neck causing it to hurl its lunch and stun it for a short period of time. Run up while its stunned and feed it Cactus Sap. Repeat until tamed. The Saddle can be unlocked at lv 35 and you are able to craft the boulders and jars of pitch in its inventory to use in Catapult Mode. There would also be a Wagon Saddle at Lv 50 so Sivatherium can haul stuff with huge weight reductions to items on the wagon.

So i submit Hungarosaurus once again, now with better dossier. I plan this creature to be a early to mid game general multipurpose tame, which is fast but has an unpenetratable back armour. Edit: Here's an useful link: https://magyardinoszaurusz.hu/hungarosaurus-tormai/?lang=en
