Image at the bottom! Dang Forums making it hard to see... Dossier: “It always surprises me when I find extinct animals on the Ark that are so much larger than they should be! Such is the case with the Harpagornis Moorei, now a winged omen of death! Almost permanently flying as high as the Ark reaches, it never descends below a certain altitude and hunts anything that flies up to meet it. Get too close and the Haast Eagle, as it’s informally known, shreds its prey with those enormous talons! Anything unlucky enough to be caught will quickly bleed out, and trying to outfly that winged terror when slowed is a recipe for a grisly end. Taming the Haast Eagle takes aerial supremacy for any tribe; it must be knocked out high in the air, and a keen-eyed Survivor can look out for their nests atop mountains to signify an Eagle is high above! Tamed Harpagornis are incredible battle-mounts, capable of lifting creatures bigger than itself and tearing them apart. I’ve seen a tamed Eagle build two nests across the Ark, flying between them by command without a rider! These could be useful for long-distance transport, and their nests are so cosy that they act as a primitive incubator for eggs!” Art by the brilliant @timinybillybob - look him up on the webz! Description: So, you’re off flying round the Ark. It’s a lovely sunny day, you’re high above those Gigas, and the shield dome shimmers above. But wait, what’s that ahead? You’ve flown too high, flown too close. The Haast Eagle has spotted you, and you’re going to have to get out of there! Alright, so look, I know the Latin name was changed, but Harpagornis just sounds better. I love flying round on Ark, as it’s easily the easiest way of getting around. Aberration even blocks fliers to make it harder. But still, jump on a Pteranodon, a Quetz, fly up and the only threat is running out of stamina. Maybe a Wyvern or Argy if you nip to the loo and forget to land somewhere safe, but still, the airspace of the Ark is too comfortable. No longer! The Harpagornis was the largest recorded Eagle of all time, and was a fearsome hunter capable of taking down Giant Moa, performing strong attacks to knock its prey down. They were also similar to vultures, slurping out insides from corpses they would find. “But it sounds like an Argy!” I hear you say. Yep, it’s a big bird boi! The Harpagornis will be, literally, the sky-Giga. The deep ocean has Mosa and Squid which won’t follow you upwards, the ground has Gigas and Carchas which won’t follow you toooo far, and the sky will have the Haast Eagle, which won’t follow you down. There would only be one or two spawning at a time, similar to a Giga, due to their incredible health, damage potential, and stamina. The Eagle permanently resides in the highest parts of the Ark’s airspace, far beyond sight of those on the ground. Wild Eagles hover about the Ark as if it has unlimited stamina, and is obviously an aggressive creature. Similar to the Mosasaur underwater, the Eagle is the most fearsome creature up high, yet it prefers not to fly too close to the ground. If an unwitting flier approaches too close, all it needs to do to escape is head down! If not, the Roc swoops in on giant wings, and those talons can cause some significant bleeding! As you know, bleeding fliers are practically useless, so you’ll really want to dodge that attack! To tame an Eagle, tribes will need to employ their best flying creatures and load up on ammunition, as the Harpagornis will need knocking out whilst it flies, similar to a Quetz. If it wakes on the ground, it will immediately fly upward until it reaches the safety of the sky. Clever survivors will build traps to prevent the Eagle from escaping! Tamed birds are fearsome battle mounts, as nothing rivals them in the air. They can even prey on the largest land mounts such as Giganotosaurus or Titanosaur by slashing with their talons and waiting above for their poor prey to bleed out. Tamed Eagles will, of course, land on the ground when commanded, and they can create their own nest which serves as a natural egg incubator for other eggs; this will be a temporary structure which can be damaged, so be careful where you place it. The nest will have 3 spaces for eggs, and will keep them perfectly incubated unless the nest is destroyed. Tamed Eagles can create two nests, and when roosting at one, they can be told to fly to the other nest without a rider, allowing them to transport items, dinosaurs, and even people with no rider! This is designed to be a higher-end alternative to teleportation without using tek, as I know ASA will be able to implement the tracking required. The Eagle would fly directly up to a set height, fly across, then descend straight down. Be careful using this feature on PVP! As discussed, they’ll have a normal attack and a special talon attack similar to an Allo chomp which inflicts a chunky bleed effect. Eagles will be able to pick up creatures up to Rex size (no bigger!) and can attack whilst holding a creature. Their speed would likely be around Quetz flight speed or up to Giga run speed at full sprint, as a super-strong, super-fast bird is likely to be hell unless you have turrets galore. This will be the ultimate king of the sky, a true terror of the clouds. Please consider voting for my big birdy boi! I’d love to hear any feedback as, together, we can all get the Haast Eagle into Ark! If you have any ability ideas, feel free to post and fingers crossed Wildcard can choose the best of all of our ideas! Hey look, you made it to the end! You’re a good egg.
HE'S BIG, HE'S BAD, AND HE LIKES HIS FISH Yes Aram is back....I was very late to this vote I had alot planned for this vote particularly but it all came too sudden unfortunately Saying that I decided to one of my favorites back for another spin alot of people seemed to like it and I additionally thank you for the support during the round when It was active it's such an honor being part of these subs Also sidenote:With the release of Rhyniognatha there might be some issues surrounding the idea of the creature but I'll change as much as possible during the vote, this creature is just here for those who wanted it as I know many did if you have any suggestions or ideas please leave them below While you're Checking this out make sure to check out these other cool subs: Tylosaurus Design/location Aram is slightly taller than a rex, it has an upright position unlike Quetz (wish Quetz would've maintained the dossier position tbh) They are mainly found in the Cliff zones of The Center specifically but you can also find them in the center cave. Sexual dimorphism included- Males have a kingfisher inspired color palette with a extravagant display of picnofibers while the females have more brownish colors and have less picnofibers ECOLOGY/BEHAVIOR: Aram spawn in little clans of 3 usually one Alpha male and 2 females but it is possible that with enough in one area their might be a whole community of them including a Matriarch (Highest lvl Female Aram) Neutral They primary hunt fish but if the opportunity presents itself they'll eat smaller animals They actively fish in the wild similarly to a stork they'll jolt their necks and lunge after their prey TAMING METHOD: Gain trust from a mother Aram by dropping by and feeding it fish on occasion, then after you can help it build it's nest, the more materials the more it'll incubate, if any predators do make their visit if trust is built enough the female will defend you from said predators, but you need to make sure to make the nest picture perfect, the Mother will make subtle remarks to where the materials should be put, when finished the female will give you approval to be a parent, Be warned though the Alpha male does the occasional fly by to check on any intruders DOMESTICATION: Maneuverability: Galloping is needed in order to take flight, the longer the gallop the faster you'll be during liftoff A Slow gradual Dive bomb, strictly for mobility, catching up to other flyers, not for attacking but can be paired with the spear attack to hit smaller flyers the longer you dive the more damage output your spear move will have Using the dive you can also dive underwater Swimming is included too while they aren't the best at it is possible Can carry multiple smaller tames for transport (weight class troodon and below) in its mouth Can glide over bodies of water and slowly regain stam. Not as good as regaining stamina through normal means but it makes it good for those tough times where you have to stop for stam so often. Speed boosts from incoming waves and waterfalls (Could be handy in Asa when proper water mechanics are implemented) Turning like a dime, It can glide and dive sideways, albeit nowhere near as fast as Desmodus and Griffins but more or so used as a means of escaping and hitting targets Attacks Bite- Fairly weak but fast and easy to use Nab- can be used to grab smaller creatures aswell as chuck them at opponents the higher the weight class the higher the damage Spear bomb-Can Strike targets with an absolutely devastating dive spear attack on either land or in air takes a lot of time to build but it has a fairly good damage output and is effective against saddle armor and player armor for more pinpoint accuracy it has a marker to perfectly pinpoint targets and strike Hip Check- This is more of a passive ability and can be activated if you're flying parallel next to a flier, you can knock them off coarse using your massive wings (a nice addition for keeping your target at a steady pace and preventing them from being too fast to catch) Can Swallow Anything below Phiomia size with low health giving it a health boost! SADDLE: Their saddle is sort of steampunky with a few modern elements (Art coming soon) it includes a pair of goggles that greatly enhances their vision being able to see clearly underwater and being able to pinpoint from greater distances HISTORY: Arambourgiania while very hard to pronounce, is one of the biggest Pterosaurs only being outclassed by Hatzegopteryx and the Quetzal in weight, it was found in 1940 by Camille Arambourg by chance in Jordan (A middle Eastern Country), it's name means In honor of Arambourg, ofcourse referring to Camille, it probably would have had a wingspan of over 7 feet (23 feet) some estimates putting it around 12 feet. It lived in the Late Cretaceous and while it is an incomplete specimen based on other Pterosaurs we'd assume it would have a pretty close lifestyle to Marabou Storks or Shoebills. Sidenotes: I don't want this to be another Quetzal If anything I want it to encourage a Quetzal TLC Quetz will be the heftier sky base and Siege while Aram will be more in the Wyvern class if anything, I'd like it if we can have another big flying tame to It will not have a platform saddle, I want to keep this separate from Quetzal It's glide and dive mechanics are not that fast much slower than a Griffin and can't be used as an attack, they're just a meer boost in maneuverability, the dive will make it slightly faster than average and the glide will keep you from losing stam as fast Cosmetic thing Ig:They actively fish in the wild wait long enough and you'll see it hunting fish
Top Pic: By Me! Official Concept for Arambourgiania HE'S BIG, HE'S BAD, AND HE LIKES HIS FISH While you're Checking this check out some other lovely submissions!!!!: Shunosaurus ,Dracovenator, Sauroposeidon,Anzu, Mei-long,Muttaburrasaurus, Attercopus, Suchomimus And Tylosaurus to name a few HISTORY: Arambourgiania while very hard to pronounce, is one of the biggest Pterosaurs only being outclassed by Hatzegopteryx and the Quetzal in weight, it was found in 1940 by Camille Arambourg by chance in Jordan (A middle Eastern Country), it's name means In honor of Arambourg, ofcourse referring to Camille, it probably would have had a wingspan of over 7 feet (23 feet) some estimates putting it around 12 feet. It lived in the Late Cretaceous and while it is an incomplete specimen based on other Pterosaurs we'd assume it would have a pretty close lifestyle to Marabou Storks or Shoebills. TRAITS/MAIN POINTS: It will stand slightly taller than a rex just enough to overtower it, it would obtain an upright position It's a Swamp and Desert spawn Spawning near lakes and rivers Similar health stat to wyverns While Desmodus,Griffins, and Pts may be very maneuverable and fast Arambourgiania's long reaching neck will make it difficult for the opponent to get out of it's reach Two person saddle, With an attached pair of Aviator goggles for your Arambourgiania, adds to the design and it's locative ability A Design inspired by the lovely Kingfisher,Cormorants and Heron A good competitor to wyverns being around the same weight class DOMESTICATION AND PVE/PVP ABILITIES: Able to gallop on land, the more it gallops the faster it's liftoff will be so I would recommend getting a pretty big area (I think it would be nice if it's liftoff and flight was dramatic too, almost like you're flying a plane) Prime fish gatherer Able to swim underwater!! (Like various seabirds) It can Locate underwater tames through the use of a radar Can carry multiple smaller tames for transport and for harvesting (weight class troodon and below,5 at a time) in its mouth With it's swimming capability it can say semi submerged and create almost a mini whirlpool to drag creatures down with it into the depths (doesn't do any damage and is NOT a stun) It can go into a glide state over large bodies of water and slowly regain stam (not as good as regaining stam on land but makes it good for those tough moments where you have to stop for stam when you're traveling and fighting stam-draining tames) Can Strike targets with an absolutely devastating dive spear attack (it's special attack) on either land or in air takes a few seconds to build but has a high damage output and is effective against armor Aram has two forms of attacks it's bite and headbutt (both are the same attack) while not anything special like the spear and doesn't have as high of a damage output, it's quicker and it's main form of attacking besides It's spear. Can glide and dive sideways (it's dive is nowhere near as fast as Desmodus and Griffins. It's for maneuverability, escape and getting hits on your attacks) Can spear or swallow Anything below para class with low health.Swallowing will give it a health boost! It Will not be targeted by Cnidaria (this is a new ability I decided to give it for Practically if you don't like it I can change it just submit it in my comments I read every one),To ark apparently Cnidaria have fantastic eye sight, but to keep the sake of the creature being practical I'm doing this, because of t's large size and similar look to plesiosaurs underwater it's not targeted. If you attack maybe the traditional Ammonite or Basilosaurus it will be an issue however Pretty maneuverable and fun to ride PVP Creature while also being nice for PVE! NATURE: Similarily to Herons and Storks this Azdharchid prefers to be solitary, they establish themselves into small territories and are territorial towards carnivores, even being territorial amongst themselves! They'll actively hunt for fish in the wild expanding to farther areas if they can't find enough food, During nesting Alpha Male Arambourgiania will be on the prowl for invaders, while the Female takes the time to rest and keep her eggs warm. Arambourgiania will spear fish in the wild, playing the waiting game and using different techniques to attract fish! TAMING METHOD: You'd have to gain the trust of the egg bearing female by dropping by and feeding it fish (doesn't have to be a certain sized fish), then after you can help the mother build her nest, the more materials the more it'll incubate and the females trust meter will go up,don't worry about any predators nearby if trust is built enough the female will defend you from them, but you need to make sure to make the nest picture perfect, the Arambourgiania will make subtle remarks to where the materials should go,when finished the female will give you approval to care for the eggs, Be careful though the Alpha male does the occasional fly by to check on any intruders , so you gotta play a little game of hiding! (The Alpha Male Aram is an indicator to tell if eggs have been respawned instead of searching for them down below) SIDENOTES: I don't want this to be another Quetzal If anything I want it to encourage a Quetzal TLC Quetz will be the sky base and Siege while Aram will be a Wyvern class brawler if anything, I'd like it if we can have another big flying tame to contest because that's oddly specific to wyverns I will give in-depth stats soon It will not have a platform saddle, I want to keep this separate from Quetzal It's glide and dive mechanics are not that fast much slower than a Griffin and can't be used as an attack, they're just a meer boost in maneuverability, the dive will make it slightly faster than average and the glide will keep you from losing stam as fast I'll be making an official dossier, Redesign,Concept art, and Saddle for this creature tomorrow!
