  1. We'll be back again, NEXT TIME SPACE COWBOY! No Need for Copycats, when Pangolin shall return in the next votes until success or the map is absolutely incorrect.
  2. Wild. The Titanaboa Armatis, more commonly known as the Scutumna (Scue-tum-na) is quite the interesting creature; From what I can tell, it seems to be a Titanaboa with a case of gigantism and other various genetic mutations. It most notably is covered almost entirely in thick segmented rings of chitin topped with equally durable fins/plates making it a biological fortress; meaning only creatures with a strong enough bite or stomp could stand a chance at causing it substantial harm. It is also incredibly long, with most specimens measuring in at about 60 meters (approximately 200ft) in length; making it one of the longest creatures I've ever seen in my days. This creature whilst being nearly invulnerable to most threats doesn't have many offensive capabilities. Possessing no unique combat abilities, a bite force shockingly weak for a carnivore of its size and possessing no lethal or narcotic based poisons/toxins; meaning it primarily hunts smaller creatures with the largest I've seen it go after being a trike. I've also seen this creature chewing on raw metal deposits in the sunken forest which seems to bring it satisfaction as well as cause an odd glow on its fins/plates to appear. Tamed. Due to the plates of the Scutumna a saddle cannot be dawned; however, as luck would have it one can gain enough grip on its head to ride this creature and its natural armor seems to provide enough protection. To tame a Scutumna one must be truly brave by throwing metal ore into its mouth whilst it is feasting on its prey. When tamed it proves to be a defensive powerhouse and act as a living barricade against other creatures. Due to its segmented armor and flexible body, it can take many shapes such as a linear line, ring, and semi-circle once it enters its defensive stance; however, once in this state it becomes incapable of moving or attacking until its master orders it to exit this stance. I've seen survivors use Scutumna to great effect to defend OSDs and Element veins, using them as quickly set up barriers to defend such Highly valuable targets. When used as a barrier the smallest creature that can step over it seems to be the diplodocus; however, there are countermeasures for when large corrupted creatures such as the corrupted tyrannosaurus rex attempt to step over it. By feeding a Scutumna metal ore whilst it's in its defensive stance, the plates on its back will begin to glow, creating a magnetic field that will slow down corrupted creatures that attempt to pass over it; whilst in this state, it also becomes impervious to being bled or lit on fire. @Syntac: If this creature ends up getting to the finals and you end up seeing this, I want to say thank you. I've been watching you since I was 10, you got me into ark and survival games in general and taught me that Irish people exist. Thank you.
  3. Gorgonoceras, the vampiric aquatic supporter that heals and buffs with spilled blood! Gorgonoceras, a basilo-sized aquatic supporter that does its supporting in a more interesting and active fashion than what we're used to in ASE. Dwelling exclusively within the abyssal depths of The Center's eastern ocean, Gorgonoceras swims around within the depths, luring in prey with enticing bioluminescence before brutally cutting and slicing with its sharp shell protrusions and needle-like tentacle tips, before feasting on the freshly spilled blood. Basically most, if not all of its abilities are based around blood. Throwing my hat in the ring with my own submission, something that normally has a similar to appearance to the more well known cameroceras. The first thing I think of when I think of the center, is the abyssal region in the eastern ocean, and how underused it is. Of course, being an abyssal region it had to be something that looked terrifying. So after some brainstorming with some good friends of mine, we came up with Gorgonoceras ABILITIES Armored Shell: Gorgonoceras' armored shell helps it naturally take reduced damage, and its sharp shell protrusions could possibly even reflect melee damage! Basic attacks: Its basic attacks include lashing with its two longer tentacles, a short charge forwards to cut things with its shell, and spinning itself in an almost drill-like fashion to cause deep wounds and lacerations on your foes. Bleeding: Most of Gorgonoceras' attacks causes its victim to bleed, which could do a damage over time effect, but its main purpose is to create clouds of blood. Blood Clouds: The blood clouds created by Gorgonoceras can give a healing effect to allies who sit in the cloud. It doesn't stop there though, as it can suck up the blood through special organs in its shell, and store it within its body to redistribute the cloud elsewhere, or use it for a few other abilities. Adrenaline Blood Cloud: By mixing the stored blood with a special chemical produced in its body, the Gorgonoceras can create a blood cloud that gives its allies an adrenaline effect, increasing damage, speed and resistance for a time after entering it. This cloud lasts less time than the normal healing cloud, so be sure to get your boost quickly and go put the adrenaline to good use! Tentacle Needle Injections: An alternative method of healing, the Gorgonoceras can use the hyperdermic-needle like tips of its tentacles to inject its allies with blood directly, giving them a small instant heal and a heal over time that is much better than the blood cloud. However while the blood cloud can heal as many creatures as you can fit in it, the injection is single target, but far more potent. Tentacle Needle Extractions: Thats a mighty healthy looking mosasaur your friend has, simply ask to borrow some of its blood! If there are no enemies nearby to fill up your blood reserves, good ask your friend for some willing donations to fill up your blood reserves! Paralyzing Stun/"Petrification": While not actual petrification, victims often feel like they've been turned to stone. By using a set of bioluminescent patterns in the shape of eyes on its inner tentacle flaps, Gorgonoceras can paralyze targets in fear and use the opportunity to extract more blood. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- TAMING: Gorgonoceras must be knocked out like most traditional tames, however its shell makes it highly resistant to traditional tranqing methods. Thus, you must feed your own aquatic creatures narcotics or biotoxin, and allow the wild Gorgonoceras to take its blood and it will begin to gain torpor. Once unconscious, its a fairly standard taming method, requiring blood or kibble to tame. High health creature like mosasaur or tuso are recommended, as you'll need to take a pretty significant beating in order to tame one! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The bioluminescent patterns of gorgonoceras ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DOSSIER (In text form for easier reading) Common name: Gorgonoceras Species name: Gorgonoceras sanguiefialtis Time: Devonian Diet: Sanguinivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Gorgonoceras sanguiefialtis is certainly one of the most unique life forms within the arks ocean. Dwelling in only the deepest parts of the sea, this sanguinivore feasts on the blood of its victim by poking them with its needle-like tentacle tips and razor sharp shell. Just to top off the freakish nature of this cephalopod, it can paralyze most creatures in fear using a special bioluminescent pattern it flashes at its foes. Domesticated: Taming one of these unique vampiric cephalopods is no easy feat, but a few determined survivors have accomplished the daunting task. Its shell renders it immune to most methods of tranquilization, so creative survivors injected their own creatures with narcotics and allowed gorgonoceras to feast on its blood, causing it to injest the tranquilizing blood and knocking it unconscious. Survivors who manage to sate this vampire will find themselves with a powerful ally and surprisingly good combat medic. Side note: Despite their "vampiric" nature, garlic does not seem to have much effect on them. Some survivors found this out the hard way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Design process: For my fellow nerds who're more interested in the creation process, here's a little insight into said process! While I know there are a fair few people who think of the creature first and the abilities afterwards, I do the opposite. I like to think of a general niche or gimmick, and reverse engineer to a creature that would fit well. I love the abyssal region of the center however it is extremely unfinished and underutilized in ASE, so doing and ocean creature for the scary depths of the eastern ocean seemed like a no brainer. Next, I knew I wanted an oceanic supporter, but how do I make something that helps you, terrifying? Why, letting it support you by giving you the blood of your enemies to your allies of course! After asking my good friend Dragon Grimoire for a couple ancient oceanic creatures, we narrowed it down to a few candidates and eventually settled on Gorgonoceras. With some artistic help from my friend RRG, he was able to bring the image of Gorgonoceras to life and make what is normally a pretty silly looking cephalopod, to something you DON'T want to encounter in the pitch black abyss. From there, we polished ability and visual design ideas for awhile and began to finalize everything for the submission! (With the new contest ruling I want to clarify this is NOT a submission from RRG, he merely helped me with the art. The concept and ideas were made by me)
  4. Tartuosteus, Derp Fish Greetings, survivors! I introduce to you the TARTUOSTEUS DOSSIER Wild TARTUOSTEUS can be found in the shallower parts of the oceans of the ark. You can see them hanging out in groups from 1 to 4 individuals. They are noticed by their cute derpy smiles, armored plates, and bony tail. Like Ichtys they will actually sometimes come up to you. These creatures are friendly to anything that doesn’t want to eat them and sometimes you can see Ichthyosaur and Mantas hanging around cus they just love its positive aura! When attacked, Tartuosteus will try to swim away, but when it reaches half health, it will puff up in a defensive state with the sharp points of its plates sticking out deflecting damage back to opponents. When in this state, their defense will increase and sometimes they will swing their bony tail against its predator's skull to let them know who is the smiling king of the reefs! Even though their diet mainly consists of microorganisms that they filter out of the water they are happy to crush anything with a shell with their bony tails and slurp up their insides! Their favorite snack are ammonites, as they love ammonite bile and are also immune to the effects of it! The TARTUOSTEUS seems to have algae growing on its shell but instead of trying to get rid of them to snack on, Tartuo lets them stay as the algae lower the aggro range of creatures. When the algae is too much they will try to get rid of some as too much can slow it down! So when you do have one tamed try to trim its algae from time to time! Taming To tame a TARTUOSTEUS you need to make use of its dumb mind! First of all you need to take some C4 with you. Then, Tartuosteus will approach you and when close you can feed them some C4 as they are too dumb to realize it’s a bomb. Swim away and let the C4 detonate. Because of the strong interior of this bony fish it can survive the explosion, but it will go into a dizzy like state. When this happens, go up to it and feed it some ammonite bile! When you’ve done this, creatures will come after you and the Tartuo will puff up in its defensive state protecting itself. When you’ve cleared all the dangers it will deflate again and after some time its dumb mind will forget you’ve just blown its insides and it will be a rinse-and-repeat! Domesticated The TARTUOSTEUS might seem like a dumb and un-useful creature but don’t judge a book by its cover! This derpy fish will be your dumbest but best friend with their constant positivity and derpy smile! In water the Tartuo will passively provide you with oxygen when you are near or riding it. Their positive nature can give allies and tames a buff called the Positivity Buff that works slightly like a lesser Courage Roar. Their large bony tails are perfect for shattering the oceans rocks and ores and with its weight reduction it will be like your underwater Ankylosaur! With its strong insides it is able to turn solid rock into powder making their insides work like a mobile mortar and pestle but with some improvements, like making gunpowder inside. The TARTUOSTEUS has a quite cool ability where it can puff up. Its normal bloat that can be controlled will swell up its belly but the plates' sharp points won’t be sticking out like they do in its defense bloat. Tartuo can be puffed up by sucking in water and then going on to land! Because it’s sucked up water before, it can survive some time on land and bounce around on the beaches, crushing creatures that are unfortunate to end up under it. If you don’t puff it in water beforehand, the Tartuo will immediately deflate again, taking damage, so make sure that if this happens you get it back in the water as fast as you can! Their defense bloat will be activated when it reaches half health; this will result in the pointy sharp plates deflecting damage back to their opponents, and a stronger defense buff. After time it will deflate again and you can go on with your passive smiling fish navigating through the ocean. But the plates aren’t only used for defense. You can also use them to see if there are any alphas nearby as the plates will point out even when it’s deflated when alpha creatures are near. This isn’t the only thing as the Tartuo will leave a bubble trail when max level creatures are nearby as well! Probably the weirdest aspect of this creature are its… babies? Tartuosteus females don’t need a mate to lay eggs but this doesn’t mean you will get healthy babies. Even though the babies are underdeveloped and not actually alive/conscious you can still see their beautiful smiles in the eggs. But the most remarkable part of these underdeveloped babies is the fact they will still passively try to puff up. But because their bloat organs aren’t fully developed yet instead of puffing up they will blow up… This might sound really cruel but the babies don’t feel anything and don’t even know they exist. But these explosive eggs can be used as a deadly weapon when put in a cannon or simply thrown by hand; they will blow up doing damage to your foes. And because the saddle of the adults have built in baby cannons their cannons can be loaded with babies and mixed with gunpowder the babies can be shot right out of the cannons with an even deadlier impact. The babies actually have different explosive states, one being almost like land mines when creatures come close they will blow up, the other can be thrown or shot acting like bombs that explode on impact with creatures or enemies and lastly one kind has a really sticky egg shell making them work like sticky bombs! Yep this might seem really cruel and you might feel bad but remember their smiles say enough! Tartuos still can be bred normally with a male and infertile eggs can also be moved to the inventory of the males. Normal breeding will give you just one egg tho that will need to be hatched in water mate boost also will work normally on pairs and actually double the positivity buff! If you have a male around and still want infertile bomb eggs just make sure mating is off! ABILITIES Primary Attack (, , 😞 Tail attack, breaks stones and ores and the faces of creatures Secondary Attack (, , 😞 Bloat, can activate any time but without its stronger defense buff and spikes. Can activate it in defense bloat mode when reaching half health, this bloat will stay only a limited time. Jump (Press Space, , 😞 Bounce; only when bloated on land X Activate Cannons (Click C, , ) Shoot (, , ) Aim (, , ) Toggle Modes (Left Ctrl, , ) Modes: mine, bomb, and sticky The eggs wil have different colors based on wich ability they have! (Be sure to look out for the golden baby egg that will give a giant explosion) Passive Abilities bubble shooting when survivor is near or on it so the survivor doesn’t need oxygen for a limited time Defense bloat lil bro will bloat up but this time with defense buff and spikes that will knockback damage back like kentro/arthro/shadowmane Items JET SURFING BOARD For this you will need tartuo fins. This surfing board makes navigating through the ocean super easy with its high speed and mobility you can race on the waves. Because of the tartuo fins on the sides you can make sharp turns, you can also super boost making you even faster but this has a cool down and you’ll need to have enough gasoline on you! DERP ELIXIR Positivity buff 40% percent More than 5 percents derp fish passively does Agro range lowered Jellyfish won’t attack you 5 percent taming efficiency Boosts crafting skill for limited amount of time Recipe: Trimmed algae, Ammonite bile, Angler gel, Water, Basilo blubber Utility & Scenarios PvE: The TARTUOSTEUS is a good and reliable water mount. The Tartuo brings a way to harvest ores and rocks underwater, and with its strong insides being able to be your mounted improved mortar and pestle it can be useful in both gathering and crafting scenarios. One of its most useful scenarios is that it can kill any shelled creatures with ease and has a high harvesting rate, and an even larger one for ammonite bile and it also being immune to the effects of the bile! Its ability to bounce on land also makes it so you don’t need it to stay in the waters all the time, its positivity buff is highly useful for you allies and its derpy smile is enough to make everyone happy. And even though it might look very dumb it can definitely pack a punch!! Its items are supposed to be providing help with navigating on waters, helping with taming, helping with the dangers of the ark, crafting skill and lastly POSITIVITY. PvP: The Tartuosteus is the first proper water soaker, in its bloated state it is able to withstand a large amount of upcoming damage with no issues whatsoever, its undeveloped eggs can be highly explosive if disturbed and might cause some serious damage to any enemy unfortunate enough to get hit by one of them, apart from being able to take a beating if damaged enough it might return the favour by poking out its sharp plates and stabbing its attacker back everytime it hits it. Tartuosteus has both incredible defence and powerful offence and it is not something to be overlooked in water combat and raiding . CONCLUSION Atm the dossier is still in the works but stay tuned! I wanna do big credit to the team of friends I worked with and the amazing artists helping me. Credits to riskybiscuits, lapis, opal, miheal, jimmy and the rest of the team!
  5. WILD- Emarginachelys Cretacea is one of the most devious beasts any survivor could ever lay eyes on. You would expect to see Emarginachelys dominating lakes or lying in wait within the spacious waterways of the ARKs, but you'd still be surprised. Despite its massive lumbering frame, the creature has even been spotted clinging halfway up the sides of seastacks thanks to its devastating claws! Its abilities don't end there, since like its modern counterparts, it can sink right to the bottom of any depth of water and lie in wait for seemingly days, until just the right moment to launch out its neck and clamp down on anything it deems a worthy meal. DOMESTICATED- I've heard tales of a single warlord who's managed to tame the Emarginachelys, and the method used was nothing short of insanity. Supposedly, the way this warlord tamed what the others called "Marge the Barge," was using certain trophies the creature deems "treasure" that can be gifted until it accepts a survivor as a worthy master. One would have to seek the creature out while its appetite is sated and deliver the trophy. Only after satisfying the creature's greed will you be able to utilize an unstoppable, all-terrain juggernaut! TECH & IDEAS- -Tames by eating a carcass, then gaining a satisfied status similar to the Carcharodontosaurus. Then, must be hand-fed Alpha trophies to gain taming percentage. Can be fed twice before satisfied status wears off, then must eat another carcass. -Might enhance loot drops from defeating Alpha creatures. -Rocking a massive 30% damage resistance and a deep health pool, unless it is attacked while its neck is outstretched, then taking normal damage, this creature encourages timing and patience. Also ignores stuns. -Has a powerful attack where its head can reach out over it's own body length in distance in front as well as over its body and to behind its forelegs. Does massive damage but takes up to 2 seconds to retract its head, taking normal damage until its neck is fully retreated. -Saddle is located under the crest of Emarginachelys' shell, protecting the rider from dismounts and stuns. -Walks/sprints at around the speed of a Trike on land and has a slow in-place turn. Can sink to the bottom of water/ocean bodies, gaining considerable walking/sprinting speed and can swim around Baryonyx speed. -Can use a tail slap if attacking while aiming behind itself. -Can climb much like a slower rock drake using its powerful claws, but no gliding. Climbing speed is the same as its walk/sprint. -Thank you for checking out my creature submission, I thought having a tanky, aquatic, and tactical counterpart to the Rock Drake would be a great way to accentuate the Center's amazing use of biomes and verticality. Regardless of potential changes, I'm greatful for your consideration and wish the best of luck to all of these excellent submissions, most of them blow mine out of the water Here's a slapped together concept art!
  6. Artwork by Riskybiscuits Species: Shunosaurus jiangyiensis Time: Late Jurassic Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Passive Wild Shunosaurus is a smaller species of Sauropod often found wandering the green zone on the ark in small herds they are quite different from most sauropod species due to their shorter necks however to make up for this they have gained a remarkable new adaptation a large bony club at the end of its tail very similar to what the ankylosaurs have. This tail club is incredibly dense and is able to shatter next to anything from stone, metal and the bones of hostile creatures. In spite of it’s deadly weapon though the shunosaurus is quite passive and will most often ignore other creatures as it cares for it’s small herd and munches on plantlife Domesticated In order to tame a shunosaurus a survivor must gain it’s trust which is incredibly difficult to do as the shunosaurus pretty much only trusts members of it’s herd the best way I find to get it to trust you is to save it’s life I once saved a shunosaurus being attacked by a pack of ravagers and it quickly bonded to me as a result. Once tamed the shunosaurus becomes one of the best creatures around for mining as its large build allows it to carry an insane amount of weight and it’s tail club is incredibly effective at harvesting raw materials. Not to mention it can use a special platform saddle that comes with a built in Industrial forge allowing you to quickly smelt any metal gathered. The shunosaurus also makes for an incredibly powerful defensive mount thanks to it’s incredibly strong tail it can block and parry attacks even being able to send some flying back like a baseball bat hitting a ball. Abilities Tail whip attack the attack has massive range due to the long tail of the Shunosaurus and has a chance to inflict a new status effect Can swing it’s head to be used as a second blunt force weapon Can cause a new status effect broken bones this causes the effected creature to be briefly stunned and then move incredibly slowly for a short period Can grab and throw creatures using it's tail by Impaling them with it's club spikes largest creatures it can pick up are Carnos and Chalicos Can collect resources with it's tail whip attack like the anky Has a new buff similar to the pack buffs of the direwolves and allos this will be called the herd buff and causes the damage resistance of the Shunosauruses to increase and gives them a damage buff and movement speed increase Has a Platform saddle but this one comes with a Forge built in so any metal collected can instantly be smelted Can damage stone structures with it's tail attack Saddle can melt down items back to their base components such as flak gear back to metal, hide etc Has Bony plates and osteoderms on it’s back giving it extra damage resistance from behind Can crush element ore and convert it into element dust Can block and parry attacks using it’s tail bouncing back projectile attacks such as rockets, boulders, magmasaur fireballs etc and countering melee attacks however this attack has a cooldown period to prevent spamming Resistance to all forms of radiation and energy allowing it to survive in the most hostile environments including the surface on aberration Has a massive weight reduction of 90% on raw materials such as metal, Stone, wood etc Can gather metal, stone, obsidian, crystal, all types of gems and element ore with it's tail attack Can gather berries, wood, thatch and fiber with it's head swing attack Taming Method In order to tame the shunosaurus you must gain it’s trust by saving it from being attacked when you approach it you can feed it veggie cakes the shuno will then take a liking to you and start to follow you however hordes of nameless and ravagers will begin to arrive and will start to attack the shuno kill all of the attacking creatures and the shuno will be tamed and the more health it has by the end of the horde attack the higher the taming effectiveness will be
  7. Dear survivors! Wouldn't you like to have a little giant that is radiation-proof, water-resistant, and has a tiny house on its back? So I propose a small sauropod "Majarosaurus"! The dinosaur lived on an island in Romania during the late Cretaceous period, but it appears to have shrunk due to being trapped on the island. The actual total length is said to be about 6m, but I would like it to be larger if I were to add it to ARK. (現実での全長は約6mだとされていますが、ARKに追加されるならば、私はもっと大きな方が良いと思っています。) wild (野生) Magyarosaurus lives mainly in the middle layers. To fend off Nameless attacks, they emit a dull glow from their armor. This light is weaker than other light source creatures and is not available to survivors. However, by resonating with the surrounding allies, the light will become stronger and survivors will be able to utilize it. Larger than Triceratops but smaller than Paraceratherium. And faster than Carnotaurus. usually spends its days leisurely in a herd, but will fight back when attacked by ferocious creatures. At that time, friends who are widely present in the surroundings also rush to help. Additionally, their armor halves damage from opponents. However, they are frightened by the unknown and flee. Reapers, seekers, you survivors are unknown to them. Taming (テイム) They are afraid of you, so you need to earn their trust first. All you need is a sweet vegetable cake and patience. First, place a veggie cake that's sweet enough to be unnoticed, like a non-violent tame. Then it sniffs out the scent and comes closer. Then give them a sweet vegetable cake. That way they will trust you and not run away. It may not be reliable enough at this time. Never move until you are trusted. After gaining enough trust, it can be tamed with regular care. They also eat berries after taming. After taming (テイム後) Magyarosaurus can be ridden with a saddle. This saddle is a lot of work to build, but it also works as a little house. The house size has 4 foundations and 16 walls. Just like Andrewsarchus, this house is filled with air inside, so it doesn't suffocate. It also protects against radiation and harmful spores. Additionally, you can open your inventory directly from inside your home. Left click : trample (左クリック:踏みつけ) Its attack power is lower than Brontosaurus, but its attack speed is faster. Creatures below Utahraptor will not be able to move for a while due to vibration. (攻撃力はブロントサウルスよりも劣りますが、攻撃速度は速いです。ユタラプトル以下の生物は、振動によりしばらく動けなくなってしまいます。) Right Click : mow down with tail (右クリック:尻尾薙ぎ払い) Its attack power is lower than Brontosaurus, but its attack speed is faster. High knockback performance. (攻撃力はブロントサウルスよりも劣りますが、攻撃速度は速いです。高いノックバック性能を持ちます。) C key:lit roar (Cキー:点灯咆哮) Can be toggled on and off. Even a single Nameless can be repelled, but having friends of the same type nearby will increase the area of effect. (点灯と消灯を切り替えることができます。1体だけでも自分の周りのネームレスを撃退することはできますが、同種の仲間が近くにいると、それぞれの効果範囲が拡大します。) passive ability (パッシブ能力) Magyarosaurus can be halved with armor just like the wild. It is also resistant to radioactivity and harmful spores, allowing exploration of the lower layers. Also, by creating a flock, the ability will increase. The maximum number of groups is 4. In addition, it can run underwater like Andrewsarchus. lastly (最後に) If you think this creature is attractive, please vote for it! Also, if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment! (この生物が魅力的だと思う人は、是非投票をお願いします!また、質問がある場合は、是非コメントをお願いします!)
  8. Common Name: Thanos s. Species Name: Thanos simonattoi Era: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivorous Temperament: Collector Tameable: Yes Rideable: Yes Breedable: Yes Wild: Thanos simonattoi is yet another case of the Ark’s environments changing the behaviors of its occupants. This typically unremarkable example of a non-apex carnivore, standing not much taller than a Carnotaurus, has become something more formidable due to the radiation here. Not only is it seemingly immune to the radiation, but the animal seems almost empowered by it. Another bizarre trait about Thanos s. is its affinity towards rocks. It will secrete a sweat-like substance that doubles as a strong adhesive and roll around on the ground, covering it in rocks to create a sort of armor. I’ve noticed this rocky covering makes the animal harder to hit, unless broken by numerous hits to it or one powerful explosion of some sort. However, there is only one thing Thanos s. Loves more than rocks. Gems. There have been numerous cases in which I’ve stumbled upon a horde of gems, only to find that once I pick one up, I’m being chased by the most rage-filled beast on all of Ark. Not even a Giga has seemed this angry by anything. There have been times where I have watched a Thanos s. take on creatures three or four times its size over the glowing stones and win. I’ve also seen Thanos s. roll around in gems, adhering them to their bodies to ensure nobody tries to their hand at snatching one of their precious stones. I do admit, it gives them a nice glowing pattern to their bodies that is unlike a lot of the creatures I’ve seen. Domesticated: I’d assume someone who has the guts to attempt taming this creature would find it a pretty remarkable ally and powerful war mount. Finding a way to get through its armor, knocking it out, and giving it some gems would likely be the best method of taming it, however I’ve never attempted such a dangerous endeavor. The tamer would find that Thanos s. has a remarkable sort of “6th sense” in finding gems. This is likely a side-effect of the radiation from the red gems. Perhaps something interesting happens once Thanos s. has one of every kind of gem. I haven’t really stuck around to find out. Abilities: Ability 1: Bite Ability 2: Sense Gems. Locates the nearest gem for the player and creates a beacon that the player can only see while mounted on the creature. Ability 3: Rage mode. Only with a saddle equipped. Players can activate a sort of “carrot on a stick” function with the saddle, but instead of a carrot, a gem is placed on the stick. The gem being just out of reach at all times will make Thanos s. go into rage mode, increasing its speed and attack power as long as the gem is in front of it. Ability 4: Rock armor. Thanos s. will roll on the ground, covering itself in a rocky armor. The creature will gain a second health bar for the armor. This takes reduced damage from wooden tools and arrows, as well as most dinosaur attacks. Passive 1: Gem hoarding mode. Players can set a return point for Thanos s. and he begins to hunt for gems. It will pick up any loose gems it finds and place it in the return point. Passive 2: Radiation Immune Passive 3: Gem rage. If a non-ally creature or player takes a gem within a radius of Thanos s, this will active its gem rage. Thanos s. Will gain the effects of rage mode and will follow the gem-nabber a further distance than most dinosaurs will follow any aggressor in-game. Attaching gems: Players can attach gems to Thanos s. which will empower the animal further. Green gems: Increased speed Blue gems: Increased radius of gem sense Red gems: Increased damage Players can attach up to 5 of each gem onto the creature, stacking the effects up to 5 times.
  9. Common name: Protochelydra Species: Protochelydra zangerli Time: Late Paleocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Breedable: Yes Rideable: Yes Wild: Protochelydra zangerli is a creature I've had the displeasure of encountering in the waters of the ARK multiple times in the past. It resembles an alligator snapping turtle, except if it was the size of a Diplodocus with the aggression of an allosaurus. Protochelydra usually hunts as an ambush predator, using its worm-like tongue to lure in smaller prey and eat them, much like its modern-day counterpart. Unlike the alligator snapping turtle, however, if the Protochelydra fails, it will immediately charge at its prey, ramming into them to stun them, and finishing them off with its incredibly powerful bite. It's surprisingly quick despite the obvious factor of it being a turtle, though it seems to only be capable of short bursts of speed on land. In the water, it's quite quick, making escaping it in the water unlikely. One's best bet in terms of combatting this titanic turtle is to wear it down from a range. I've observed Protochelydra displaying high levels of aggression towards Spinosaurus, usually immediately upon spotting one. The two commonly fight, but on most occasions both creatures will come out alive, merely wounded. Protochelydra seems to enjoy preying on Sarcosuchus and other semi-aquatic predators, as well as Paraceratherium, DIplodocus, and toher large herbivores. It's recommended to keep these creatures away from an area with Protochelydra present. Domesticated: From what I've seen, Protochelydra is an excellent choice for one to tame. It's heavy defenses and powerful jaws allow to menace foes, and many that haven't seen it don't expect it to charge at them. A very technologically advanced tribe I've met attached cannons to its shell, allowing it to deal with flying enemies with ease. Combined with its defenses, it's able to combat threats on land, sea, and in the sky! Taming: Protochelydra would be given bait by the player, which it would use to lure and eat other creatures. Perhaps one could even sacrifice their own tames in this process. Larger creatures would yield higher taming effectiveness and progress on the taming bar. Saddle: The Protochelydra saddle would have anti-air cannons on its back, and be unlocked around level 70 or so. The rider would be in an enclosed seat, protected from harm and provided with infinite oxygen. It would have a corvus at the top front of the shell that could be used to board enemy platform saddles and rafts, as well as get on buildings. Spawns: Protochelydra would spawn in basically any in-land body of water on the map, as well as in the swamps and marshes. ----------------------------------------------------Abilities and uses -------------------------------------------------------------- -Bite: The left click attack of the Protochelydra. Hold left click to charge the bite up for a high damage attack that only has it's damage reduced by half the normal amount that the enemy's armor would normally reduce. -Rushdown: The right click attack of the Protochelydra. Short burst of speed that deals decent damage to multiple enemies. Applies a slowing and bleed debuff and activates the corvus (roman naval boarding device, it would merely extend, not lock Protochelydra in place). -Shell Armor: It's shell reduces damage taken by 20%. Protochelydra can retreat into its shell, bringing the resistance up to 50%. While in this state, Protochelydra can use two more abilities. This makes it excellent for tanking, especially in bossfights. -----Cannons: Protochelydra's rider can control its cannons, which deal decent damage on their own, but either have a 50% damage boost towards fliers or knock them out of the air. It's important to note that other tribemates can control the cannons while its not in its shell, but the rider gains the ability to do so. -----Shell Spin: Protochelydra can spin while retreated in its shell. It cannot move while spinning. While spinning, it removes any debuff it has and if it's being grabbed by anything large enough to pick it up (Rhyniognatha and Tek Skiff), the spin releases it from its grasp. If on the ground, it spawns a temporary shrapnel hazard that deals average damage to grounded creatures but high damage to flyers and bulky creatures, further making it a threat to them. The Shell Spin would also knock enemies back, acting as a "Get off!" attack. -Lure: Protochelydra can have bait placed on its tongue, acting as a more effective fishing rod. On top of this, it would also be capable of attracting creatures without triggering their aggression. -Aquatic Affinity: Protochelydra does not need oxygen, and it moves quite fast underwater. It would also gain the hydrated buff. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I decided to submit Protochelydra as I'd love to have a giant snapping turtle in the game. I think they're pretty interesting and underappreciated animals. Ark only has 2 turtles in the game, one of which is a fantasy creature, and the other merely exists as a soaker and sacrifice creature. I would like to note that while yes, a giant turtle with cannons on its back is similar to a certain monster from a successful franchise, no, I didn't base it off that. I was like halfway through making this thing when I realized the similarity. Please consider voting for Protochelydra, as it would be a wonderful addition to the game. Though my post obviously isn't as well made as some other posts I've seen, I do think it deserves a chance. Image source: https://twitter.com/TomHoltzPaleo/status/1312001720940138503
  10. Say hello to the most useful shoulder pet- Eomanis! IRL Information________________________________________________________________ Eomanis ("dawn pangolin") is the earliest known true (and scaled) pangolin from extinct family Eomanidae (and extinct superfamily Eomanoidea) within suborder Eupholidota. It lived during the Eocene in Europe. Fossils collected from the Messel Pit, Germany, indicate that this 50 cm long animal was rather similar to living pangolins of the genus Manis, indicating that pangolins have remained largely unchanged in morphology and behavior for 50 million years. However, unlike modern pangolins, its tail and legs did not bear scales. According to the stomach contents of the excellently preserved Messel specimens, Eomanis’ diet consisted of both insects and plants. Utility__________________________________________________________________________ Early game____________ Mid chitin harvesting efficiency: Eomanis could be designed to be efficient at harvesting chitin in big quantities. This would make it a valuable asset in regions where chitin is abundant, such as caves or areas with large insect populations. Craftable cementing paste in Eomanis's inventory: Eomanis could have a unique ability to craft cementing paste directly in its inventory. This would save players the time and effort of having to gather the resources separately and craft them at a crafting station. The crafting speed will be the same as on the chemistry bench Sandstorm immunity: Eomanis could have a natural resistance to sandstorms, making the player and his rideable on land tame immune to the sandstorm event. Eomanis could have the ability to detect hidden water sources in the environment (just like ferox finds element dust) and refill any type of reservoir item, such as water skins or canteens, that are in his inventory. This would be particularly useful for players who are exploring the desert where water is scarce and difficult to find. It would also make Eomanis a valuable companion for long journeys through the wilderness. Mid game_____________ 50% weight reduction for all basic resources when on player's back and 80% reduction when on land or carried by other creatures: Eomanis could also be used as a backpack that reduces the weight of basic resources in its inventory. This would allow players to gather more resources before needing to return to their base, which can be especially helpful in the early game when resources are scarce. You can also easily access Eomanis' inventory within the R radial menu, just like with the Sinomacrops. The Eomanis can be carried by an Argentavis in his beak. This will allow the player to bring more resources back to their base thanks to Eomanis' weight reduction for all basic resources. Eomanis drops a new rare resource "Eomanis' Keratin Plates". Those plates can be used to efficently craft cementing paste: One plate= 200 chitin/keratin. This resource is also used for crafting a new chestpiece "Scale Mail of the Eomanis". This resource drops only when the Eomanis is killed with damge that he can returned back to the attacker, that means that when killed with fire, poison, explosives, or wyvern elemental attacks Eomanis will not drop the resource. Eomanis' long tongue can be used as a whip. This has all the uses of the regular in-game whip but with a longer range, dealing damage to all insect creatures and no stunning. The player can perform this attack with the "Clap" emote. Late game_____________ Doubles armor durability when attached to the player's back: Eomanis could be designed to attach securely to the player's back as a shoulder pet. When picked up, Eomanis could double the durability of all armor tiers except the new chestpiece "Scale Mail of the Eomanis". This will allow the player to use their favorite armor for longer. "Ricochet" is a passive buff for Eomanis. This acts somewhat like Kentro's ability but with a couple of twists: Thе buff is active on any Eomanis, be it wild or tame. It would cause a signifficant damage reduction, with 30% of the damage being returned back to the attacker. This buff can be shared with the player or any tame that the player can ride. Howewer, it is not fully active right away when Eomanis is picked by the player. The damage reduction portion of the buff is always active while wearing any type of armor. but the part with 30% damage return will be active only when the player wears a new chestpiece- "Scale Mail of the Eomanis". The "Ricochet" ability is especially useful in raids. This ability allows you to return damage to buildings, or rather metal turrets, allowing you to break them more efficiently. Eomanis' claws are a deadly weapon when used right. He is able to tear any armor to pieces, like paper. When thrown off the back Eomanis curls up, and if the player's aim is good enough, can cling to a enemy player for a couple of seconds like a Noglin, tearing the armor in the process. After that he will detach from the enemy player in his curled up appearance. Eomanis will remain in this form until a friendly player will approach to disable this form and pick it back up. Forms can be switched at any time whether the player is in combat or safe in his base. Scale Mail of the Eomanis__________________________________________________________ This is a brand new chestpiece that is crafted from "Eomanis' Keratin Plates". The armor's stats are somewhere in between a chithin chestplate and flak chestpiece. This armor has an ineresting ability to repel small and medium agressive creatures when the player treavels on foot. The armor is especially useful for cave exploring. When in combination with an Eomanis the creature repel ability will be disabled in exchange of the rest of Eomanis' "Ricochet" buff. The Scale Mail of the Eomanis is not affected by the Eomanis which means that this armor's durability does not double. Weaknesses_______________________________________________________________________ Eomanis cannot protect you from fire, poison, explosives, or wyvern elemental attacks. In raids, Eomanis can be somewhat countered by Plant Species Z Turrets. They won't deal full damage, but Eomanis won't be able to return the damage. Amargasaurus is the best counter for Eomanis. His armor-piercing spike disables all of Eomanis's abilities while inflicting pre-existing debuffs. Completly useless in boss battles. The player can't pick up the Eomanis when wearing the TEK cestpiece or any chestpiece with the glider wings attachment from Aberration. Taming____________________________________________________________________________ To tame Eomanis, players will need to collect a significant number of armor sets, preferably of high quality, and have a significant amount of health for tanking Eomanis' attacks. They will then need to find and approach Eomani, who will initially be hostile and attempt to attack the player. To begin the taming process, players will need to equip a full set of any armor tier and quality (The higher the quality and the tier the better. For example an apprentice set of riot armor would be the best choice for taming.) and let Eomani attack them. Eomanis can shred through any quality and tier of armor like butter thanks to his sharp claws, so the players will have to constantly replace damaged parts in order not to die and increase the taming efficiency. However, as Eomanis attacks, he gradually becomes less hostile. Once Eomanis has destroyed a certain amount of armor pieces, he will become passive and approach the player, asking for a cuddle or for their favorite treat- сhitin. 11. So i submit Hungarosaurus once again, now with better dossier. I plan this creature to be a early to mid game general multipurpose tame, which is fast but has an unpenetratable back armour. Edit: Here's an useful link: https://magyardinoszaurusz.hu/hungarosaurus-tormai/?lang=en
