  1. Common name: Koolasuchus Species: Koolasuchus Caementus Time: Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Ambushing This dossier is made by me, also sorry for bad quality (only let me post 400 kB) Wild: Koolasuchus Caementus is the largest amphibian on the island and also the most gluttonous creature i have seen so far in the ark, sporting sizes of those of spinosaurus. It inhabits the freshwater areas of the island, being more commonly found in rivers where it ambush his preys..... These creatures stays buried in the riverbed almost all his life. Being the only sign of his pressence a column of bubbles that emerges from the riverbed. This titanic amphibian eats his prey whole, the creature opens his maws so quickly that it causes a vortex of water that leads his preys directly to his mouth. Like moderns abyssal fish Koolasuchus Caementus can double or triple the size of his stomach in order to eat preys that are even bigger than him, this sometimes leads to koolasuchus sofocating due to the extreme size of his prey. These creatures are so gluttonous that they eat everything that gets in his way, causing them to eat valuable resources, armors, weapons, etc.... Some survivor hunt them to get these valuable resources. Domesticated: When domesticated Koolasuchus Caementus proves itself as an excellent siege and support creature. It can swallow allies to save them from dangerous situations or, it can swallow enemy mounts or survivors!!!, but this incredible ability comes with his drawbacks, if Koolasuchus has swallowed an enemy or a ally, it becomes sluggish and more susceptible to damage. Also Koolasuchus can fill his stomach with acid and then it can shoot that acid as a mortar, disolving through metal structures and gear. But as said, Koolasuchus Caementus comes with probably his biggest drawback, Koolasuchus has to be wet most of the time or his skin will become fragile....... Now lets explain everything in detail: Taming: Koolasuchus can be found in rivers and is a passive tame, the only sign of his pressence would be a colum of bubbles that emerges from the riverbed, in order to make Koolasuchus emerge from the riverbed you will have to carefully place honey in front of him, or you will ruin the taming (i will explain this later), when Koolasuchus has emerged from the riverbed it will start to swim around, sometimes it will open his mouth, is then when you have to swim to his mouth and feed it with his favourite food honey or prime fish meat (I haven't deciced yet), after sometime you will have a tamed Koolasuchus. Now i will explain the two states of wild Koolasuchus: - Aggresive Mode: If you come to close to Koolasuchus when is buried in the riverbed, it will start attacking you, so you have to be extra careful when placing honey in front of him, when Koolasuchus is aggressive it can't be tamed, this means Koolasuchus will not reset, and will be aggressive for all eternity, disabling taming forever. But when this state is activated, Koolasuchus will drop valuable resources when killed like said in the dossier (The rarity, number of items and the value of the items will depend on Koolasuchus level). - Taming Mode: This state is activated when Koolasuchus have been unearthed from the riverbed with honey. As said Koolasuchus will start to swim around the area opening his mouth casually, letting the survivor to feed it and tame it. Fragile Mode: This state is activated when Koolasuchus dryes, the survivor will know the humidity of Koolasuchus thanks to a bar similar to giganotosaurus rage bar. When the bar reaches 0, Koolasuchus will dry, making it more succepteable to dmg and torpor, also slowing it greatly. You can recover humidity by going in water with Koolasuchus. But thanks to Koolasuchus special saddle you can carry water like a canteen, waterskin or water jar. This specialized saddle lets you carry great amounts of water that can be used to hydrate Koolasuchus when needed. This saddle lets the survivor rehydrate Koolasuchus up to 3 times. Abilities and attacks: - Left Click: Bite - Right Click: Swallow, Koolasuchus will swallow one enemy or ally, when Koolasuchus has swallowed anything his stomach will expand making him more vulnerable to all sorts of weapons and attacks, and also slowing Koolasuchus. If Koolasuchus swallows an ally, the ally will be save in Koolasuchus stomach, preventing it from receiving any damage (maybe it also heals allies inside his stomach???), to regurgigate the ally right click again, the ally can also free himself by clicking multiple times. When Koolasuchus has swallowed an enemy, the enemy inside Koolasuchus will start to receive damage gradually, the only way to scape Koolasuchus stomach is by punching from the inside of his stomach, when enough damage is deal Koolachus will regurgitate the enemy. Koolasuchus can also swallow allied and enemy mounts. - Space bar( Mortar mode): Koolasuchus will fill his stomach with acid, making it more vulnerable, and preventing it from moving. When this mode is activated, the rider of Koolasuchus will be granted a bird's-eye-view (like exo-mek). When this is activated Koolasuchus can launch acid balls to a determined position, making tons of damage to metal structures and gear, this attack is also capable of damaging tek structures. To cancel mortar mode press space bar again. To not make mortar mode OP in offline raiding (credits to Mangost for the idea) I've thought of two ways to make Koolasuchus fair for everyone, the first way would be that in order to shoot acid balls Koolasuchus would need a new item called Koolasuchus acid, this item would be passively generated inside Koolasuchus inventory each 30 minutes or so, this item would be stackeable. The second way would be that for each acid ball that Koolasuchus shoots it would lower its food stat, something like daedon with healing allies. - Pressing C(Acid ball and acid pool): When pressing c, a bar will start to fill, when filled totally Koolasuchus will fire a short distance acid ball, that deals less damage than mortar mode. If this ability is cancelled while charging Koolasuchus will make an acid pool around him, preventing melee enemies or mounts to attack him. Here we have some old sketches and concept art of Koolasuchus Caeementus, this led to the dossier at the top of the submission: And again sorry for bad quality And thats my submission for Fjordur, this creature was also in lost island submission. I think we need more amphibiand in the game, right now we only have two amphibians in the game (diplocaulus and beelzebufo), and i think a giant powerful amphibian would be a neat addition to the game. I based his design and colors on carpet sharks. Having Koolasuchus is Fjordur would be very cool as a sluggish winter amphibian, this would explain his massive size. Also it would be a neat reference to Walking with dinosaurs, specifically to episode 5 (Spirit of the ice forest), where a Koolasuchus makes an appearance.
  2. Wild Labyrinthodont is a semi-aquatic carnivorous amphibian living on beaches near cliffs and can be also found in some caves with sufficient source of water. In Adulthood it can grow up to 8 meters. Its large body with worm-like skin that is incrusted with scales of a lizard and limbs adapted for swimming but also climbing on wet surfaces makes it perfect swimmer and climber. Adult Labyrinthodonts are highly aggressive and dangerous, while juveniles are mostly harmless. Juveniles only leave their nests when starving. Their digestive metabolism makes them last longer without food. Adults are apparently highly protective of their young, willing to abandon helpless prey if they hear them call (which can apparently be heard from some distance away). Domesticated Labyrinthodont makes a great amphibious mount. It grants a high protection to its rider. It posses a ability to move at increased speed using upward leaps/charges. With them it is also able to devour its prey within seconds. Adults are too stubborn to be tamed and care more about eating you than becoming friends with you. In contrary the younglings are more curious and are willing to be tamed. But caution must be taken when taming labyrinthodont because when adult labyrinthodont finds you interacting with his nestling it will rather kill its own child than to let you tame it. -I chose this creature because it fits the map just perfectly. There were some rumours about great long worms that were mistaken for amphibians. All this was taken from mythology so it makes sense :D. Also this creature was in Primeval and sadly it was changed for the film purpose but it seemed really cool and I think it would suit the Ark perfectly. -Abilities are easily set: left click: The labyrinthodont bites when looking forward or when looking backwards it turns to the target(that is behind) knocking any creatures in its proximity away while turning with its enermous body(tail swipe/body swipe) right click(when clicked): The labyrinthodont jumps forward with small bite that does not deal a great damage but makes the labyrinthodont jump further(in water it makes the labyrinthodont do a dash and moves it even further) right click(when held): The labyrinthodont stands up on its hind legs and charges a leap/charge attack that deals a great amount of damage but also when used on small creatures it can eat them instantly C button : roar that weakens nearby enemies ( when used underwater, ocean creatures up to size of plesiosaur will get scared and weakend) Saddle: Two seat saddle with smithy It would be amazing if this creature made it in Ark. Not only for me but for many people it would be a venerable memorial of Primeval. Please support this post and if you can add some ideas bellow.
  3. Real Life Context The Platyhistrix 'Platyhistrix Rugosus' Is a small Temnospondyl that lived in the Permian 300mya, Temnospondyls were early amphibians and are related to beasts like Koolosuchas and Diplocaulus. It is primarily known for its unusual sail, similar to Dimetrodon or Spinosaurus although it is not closely related to either and its purpose is just as mysterious. Its back was covered by hard scute like plates but it has been identified as a true amphibian so may have been moist and smooth skinned like modern amphibians. In its hey-day it could be found throughout the USA in habitats similar to lush floodplains or marshlands which was crucial since like modern amphibians they are thought to be reproductively tied to the water and go through a tadpole metamorphosis phase like modern frogs and salamanders. Appearance Should the 'Platy' join the ARK ecosystem, it would resemble a small Dimetrodon with the body of a Lystrosaurus with a large frog-like head with big yellow eyes, a bright blue tongue splayed out clawless legs and a long salamander like body with a medium length yet stumpy tail (see image above) It also possess the iconic sail, unlike Dimetrodon it is taller in comparison to its flat body and resembles a bright sea shell. It would have 4 main color regions. It is a small creature, not big enough to ride probably a bit larger than a bulb dog (see image above) It could be small enough to be a shoulder pet but could just as easily work without being a shoulder pet. They would often be found naturally in bright colors similar to a poison dart frog. region 0: Stomach/shell lines region 1: Body region 2: Sail body region 3: Back spots/scutes region 4: N.A region 5: N.A Movement The Platy would move in a crawling salamander motion, swaying its body will it walks, it would be able to run but not efficiently, it would probably run as quick as a bulbdog if not quicker. It would be as quick in the water as on land, still able to get around at a decent speed but not quick enough to escape some water predators like Piranna's Sounds Sound designs, it wouldn't make much sound, maybe the sounds of bubbling or creatures gulping for air in a bit of a chirping medium to high pitch. Maybe some low grumbling included but nothing too grotesque. Behavior Platy is a low tear predator, and would eat meat just like any carnivore, In the wild It would be a passive predator similar to Dimetrodon, it would not attack other animals or survivors aside from its special features (SEE MORE INFO BELOW), instead It would be skittish similar to Mesopithicus. It would be an uncommon find, not rare but not as common as say a dodo, but to find one that hasn't been attacked by another creature is another endevour, they would be solitary and spawn alone but you could find 2 that have blundered into each-others range by pure chance. In Game Meta Stats Being a small creature, a survivor is not able to ride it, but it could be used as a shoulder pet. It would have generally low stats as shoulder pets do, low weight and health, but a dump stat would be for a Platy as designed in this post would be mainly stamina and oxygen despite being semi aquatic it would still need oxygen. In game meta, it would be a cute little utility tame, useful for all kinds of tribes, from low tear to alpha tribes. Breeding Like other amphibians like Beezlebufo and Diplocaulus, it would only reproduce in water, the eggs would have to stay underwater and the babies would hatch as tadpoles before becoming adults as they mature. Poisonous defense The Platy is designed to appear poisonous, with bright colors warding off 'potential predators' inspirations taken from Blue tongue lizards and Poison dart frogs. The mechanic built around its design involves its defense. When attacked or startled, it would release poison in a gaseous form, possibly similar to a lymantria or an Ammonite, I personally would akin the ability to a walking mushroom from Abberation, with the small portable spore-field inducing similar dizzy, health/oxygen draining and increased Torpor in tames and players. These could be deposited in areas like Lymantria for a short time or (I like more) form a protective bubble around the Platy as it flees from danger following it wherever it goes, this would make a startled platy potentially dangerous to any survivor or wild creature unprepared. Additionally, a creature biting a Platy or harvesting a dead Platy could induce this same sensation so dino's eating a Platy similar to getting hit with a Cnideria or something, so best beware, unless the player was protected by a hazard suit or gas mask, harvesting a dead Platy could be dangerous but would be rewarded with biotoxin, hard to get outside of Cnideria in the standard META. Taming Method The Platy would be a PASSIVE tame, but a challenging Passive tame, but still doable for even new ARK players. The taming food of a platy would be specific, something poisonous like bio toxin or organic polymer. Like any normal passive, you would feed it its taming food and wait until its hungry, but it would release its poisonous gas/spores even if its not startled. During the taming process and will not stop emitting these spores until either the taming bar is at 0% or when the taming process is completed. This needs to be mitigated with a gas mask or hazard protection suit giving use to the otherwise unused gas mask if you haven't learned the hazard suit engram from Aberration. Tamed Utility The Platy is undeniably a useful creature for all tribes, even the most powerful Alpha tribes would find Platy's useful. The Platy would first be able to release the poision on command at the cost of stamina, making stamina an important stat to boost. A tamed Platy would not be toxic to tames and ally survivors. However it would still induce the poisonous effect to other creatures and enemy survivors should it be startled or commanded to do so. If this was a shoulder pet, this combo could be devastating in pvp as you would become a walking sporefield as long as the staminia lasts, but easily prevented with protective gear like hazard suits or gas masks. in PVE if the torpor induce is powerful enough it could be used for KO-ing other tames or allowing for a getaway should you find yourself biting off more than you can chew, this makes it good for low to middle tear tribes at least combat wise, but still valuble in certain situation should higher tear survivors decide to use it, its basically a renewable poison grenade. Resources Harvesting them and taming them are both ideal for a survivor, obviously getting past its poison defense, harvesting a Platy would provide Biotoxin along with some hide and meat, Biotoxin otherwise is hard to come by aside from harvesting from Cnideria, making them a good source of Bio-toxin for players not as confident in the seas or in a location where Cnideria don't spawn very often. It also creates the dilemma of obtaining the bio toxin to tame it, (break a few eggs to make an omelet situation lol) Mutating Toxin The most important part of the Platy (its MAIN STAT and should really be considered if bringing it in) is the mutation factor. Having a Platy around for breeding its a GAME CHANGER especially for console players like myself who are unable to get MOD's that add items like the TEK mutator. To put it simply, if a tamed Platy is in range of creatures during the breeding process (2 creatures mating before gestation starts), it can pretty much double the likelihood of random mutation. This could take the form of a buff similar to the Oviraptor and would only be applied if the Tamed Platy was releasing its poison (again at the cost of staminia) in range. This utility makes it valuable to all tribes basic or alpha that are trying to breed the best creatures possible in their arsenal. Im no developer but this would really be a useful stat and save some really frustrating time trying to breed dinos with mutations for days on end. Possible Uses - Its got these big dumb eyes, big smile, and a cute lil blue tongue DILO wouldn't you want one around. YES they would probably be able to wear hats - Biotoxin farm - its a good way to get Bio-toxin without venturing into the oceans, although Biotoxin is still best harvested from Cnideria - PVP, they are walking spore fields, and poison grenades to creatures and enemy players if they are unprepared for them it could be a deadly combo for 1v1 PVP or when raiding a base, putting unprepared foes at a massive disadvantage, they are also a challenge in the wild to change, making them difficult to tame, but not too difficult since they are easily countered by obtaining Hazard gear, a gas mask, or if a player with no gear just runs in sacrificing their stats, hopefully re-spawning before it gets too far away - Breeding, these would be a game changer in regards to breeding random mutations at least in the current meta WITHOUT MODS, which is hard enough as it is. It would really benefit players of all types, those just starting out, experienced players trying to get the best mutations on their tames, or people just wanting dinosaurs with insane color variations. Having one of these guys around would really save a player trouble. - Adding variation - another amphibian in the game would be interesting (I say as a lover of Beezlebufo and Diplocaulus) the breeding mechanics and mechanics I suggested above would make for a very interesting creature indeed. VOTE FOR THE PLATYHISTRIX
  4. Species name: Mastodonsaurus Beluastagnum Time: Middle Triassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Mastodonsaurus Beluastagnum is a brutal amphibian, being highly aggressive not even wanting to eat until most things around it are dead, or have ran away, most of the time dead. The sheer force of their jaws are able to shatter rocks in some instances, the way they kill prey is violent too, even if the prey is dead they will continue to slam it on a hard material such as a large rock until its just a unrecognizable mess of flesh and bone. Even creatures that can fly can be caught by it too, mastodonsaurus can leap high into the air somehow and clench their jaws around a poor pteranodon. Domesticated: Mastodonsaurus make excellent war mounts, meat harvesters, and ambushers. Due to their sheer brute force, they are able to both take high amounts of damage with their unusually tougher skin, and able to deal high amounts of damage with, mentioned before, their sheer brute force. They are large bodied so they are also able to carry high amounts of meat. They can hide themselves under the sand, mud and stones found in rivers pretty well and can ambush anyone or anything that comes by with a tremendous amount of power. Non dossier information: -Their size is slightly smaller than that of a sarco. -They have the snow owls thermal vision. -They lack a saddle due to their skin, however they have a tough, slime like coating on them that gives them the equivalent of a saddles armor and allows people to ride them. -They can release some of their slime substance onto the ground making a sticky trap thats about the size of a small puddle. -Can walk on the floor of any large amount of water. Keys: Left click: Bite (60 base.) Right click: Drain crunch (50 base, however drains blood from the from the target, allowing the mastodonsaurus or other creatures to hit the target harder than usual, cannot stack.) C : Thermal vision (Like the snow owls.) X: Grab and Thrash (The mastodonsaurus grabs the target and thrashes them wildly, thrashing about 5 times, hitting 80 each time. Cooldown of 15 seconds.) O: Make slime trap. (Cooldown of 5 seconds, only two can be made at a time.) Left ctrl: walk on the floor of a river, lake or any other floor in swimmable water. Radial wheel: -Hide mastodonsaurus. (Can only be done in the water.)
  5. High Res dino dossier concept We don't know very much about the hippopotamus major also called the giant european hippo, except that he is bigger and more hairy than is african relative and lived in europa, we did even found fossil in great britain. Common Name : Giant Hippo Species : Hippopotamus Major Time : Pleistocene Diet : Herbivore Temperament : Aggressive/Territorial Wild : You can see thoses hippos staying in or really close to rivers and beaches, often in groups with only one male and multiple female. Btw as their genital is retracted and that there are no distingtive traits betwen gender, you can't see gender on their floating name (only with HLNA or in inventory). They are also found with diverse small flyer as dimorphodon or ichtyornis (like manta and basilo), that will even defend the hippo if you attack it. Once in a while we can see them opening wide their mouth and let fishs or birds come in to clean their teeth (small nutriment and bacteries are really nutritive to them). They will usually ignore other creatures and vice versa (even the spino respect a pack of hippos), except for human. We don't know why but hippos are really aggressive towards human if they approch them. Some times we see some unconscious predators (thoses who are not native to rivers) attacking them, and the hippos just ignore them as they can't pierce their thick skin, after some times the predator stop and gives up. He can sprint relatively fast but on short distance. As his body structure is too dense to float he can't swim, but "walk and jump" from the river/sea floor and can outswim creatures like mosa but not the dolphin. They like to chase motorboat (but not on long distance like the whale) He might have an huge resistance, but it as a weakness. His skin needs to stay wet to benefit from this resistance, and extreme condition can also decrease that resistance (snow storm, sand storm, heatwave, fire, ice, electricity). Many scientists are still debating which of the Giant Hippo and the Dunkleosteus have the strongest jaw. Domesticated : The Giant Hippo as many uses : - Can use him to tame fishs (like with fish basket). You just need to open his mouth when in water and fishs will come in to be tamed (with a cooldown of 5min ?) - Tribes did try to harvest ressources with the hippo, but he was better at destroying than farming. So they tried something new, they figured out it was pretty good to grind wood into thatch into fiber and stone into flint. He can even crush stone and chitin more efficently than a mortar. (Give that abitlity to the dunkleo too) - Transport and combat mount, while not the fastest, he is relatively safe due to it's huge resistance. But as he can't really go far from the water, survivors have developed a special saddle that cover huge part of his body. The saddle is equipped with water tank at both side and 4 pouch that can host shoulder flyer (when inside the pouch the flyer is protected and you can set them in turret mode. they will go fly to kill enemies than come back in the pouch). The water tank will empty slowly, 2min after out of water, the hippo will dry and loose is natural resistance (can be refilled with rain, water tap, morellatops or by going in water). For combat you can count on his powerfull bite and his bleeding imunity (skin too thick to bleed) - For depth water exploration tribes have developed and 2nd saddle, composed of a small platform (can hold a 2x2 build) and 2 floaters that can be activated at any time. You can then go explore the deep sea and rise at the surface when you want. Used as a raft if floaters stay activated. Taming : Taming an hippo isn't a piece of cake as they have a pretty high torpor it's useless to make them sleep. And you can't approach them even with a ghillie suit. So to tame them you must come with a shoulder pet. 1. Kill all the dimorphodons/ichtyornis 2. Wait for the hippo to open it's mouth in wait for a mouth cleaning 3. Grab your favorite shoulder flyer and whistle him to go on the hippo 4. When the flyer is inside his mouth you can then come near him and give a vegetable/kibble 5. Repeat Abilitties and statistics : LMB : if mouth closed => normal bite, if mouth is widely open => powerfull bite RMB : hold to open mouth widely (if in water, will aggro one nearby coel/piranha/salmon) Spacebar : On ground => a ground stomp that will apply a knockback; in water => jump that can be chained to gain more speed (like ferox), can even bounce on wall C : on ground with normal saddle => Cycle command for the flyer in the pouch; in water with the platform saddle => activade/deactivate floaters Passive : - Immune to bleed effect due to it's thick skin, - Immune to grab (expect hoverskiff) due to it's huge density - Huge resistance that works like reaper, the resistance can be negate by fire, ice, heatwave, snowstorm and electricity (Cnidaria and Electrophorus won't dismount/stun but will decrease it's resistance) or if the hippo stay dry outside of water for X amount of time - On wild hippo, the gender is invisible High : Resistance, Oxygen, Weight, Damage, Sprint Speed Medium to High : Health Low : Stamina, Walk Speed Source : https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b3/Hippopotamus_major_drawing.jpg https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippopotamus_amphibius
  6. There are a lot of prehistoric amphibians and a lot of them would make good creatures in the game, but unfortunately we only have 2. That's why I'm suggesting one, since fjordur is a Nordic map and amphibians tolerate cold temperatures more than crocodiles I thought to myself why not suggest a replacement for the sarco in colder areas. Prionosuchus Plummeri Here are the ideas I had for the skills: Since amphibians have mucus and toxin for the most part, here are the two passives that came to my mind. Passives -The prionosuchus mucus grants him and the rider immune to all cold temperatures and ice attacks (mana, ice wyvern, ice titan), useful in Jotunheimr. -The toxin on his skin reflects all melee damage suffered as torpor damage to the enemy (can be reduced by armor) and every hour it is possible to extract 5 prio toxins which can be used to make better tranq arrows (because we don't have better tranq for the crossbow). Attacks Left click: strong bite that causes torpor. Right click: Tail swipes with a lot of knockback, inflicts a lot of torpor (similar to the equus) and has an effect that increases the target's torpor over 30 seconds. C attack: A small launch that grabs any creatures with 200 drag weight and less, if that creature is below 10% health it is executed (only works with creatures that have the same drag weight as mentioned above), an execution grants a buff that increases damage and resistance by 20% for 180 seconds. Holding c, causes the prionosuchus to spin around itself while spraying mucus in the air with its tail, any ally in the area gain a buff that makes them immune to cold temperature (useful in Jotunheimr) and ice attacks (mana, ice wyvern, ice titan) for 120 seconds, as for the enemies they are slowed down and gain torpor. I have many more ideas for prionosuchus, but I think that's enough for one creature
  7. I know this might count as two but hear me out. Broomistega and Thrinaxodon are two species that, in real life, were found together in the same den, chilling together peacefully (or at least tolerating each other) before they died. In game they could be creatures that are either always found together and if you tame one you automatically tame the partner, or for them to reach their full potential you need to find and tame both. Thrinaxodon was a burrowing cynodont. It could be like a smaller, lamer, Purlovia. Thrinaxodon buries itself underground, but can't ambush enemies, and can't carry a lot of materials. Broomistega was an amphibian and could act like a slower, weaker, Dilophosaur. It can spit, but it takes a long time getting anywhere and its health is even lower than the Dilo. But when the two are together, the Thrinaxodon makes a hole it and the Broomistega can hide it. The Broomistega now becomes a hidden turret that can't be harmed normally. The only way to flush them out is for enemies to waste an explosive to blow up the hole, but only if they can find the tiny hole first. Plus, the two give each other a pack puff. You could make an entire mine field full of Thrinaxodons and Broomistegas working together to annoy and harass any intruders. As the two are only useful together, and are small and un-ridable, they might as well be but on the same dossier. The idea is based off the symbiotic relationship between a goby fish and snapping shrimp (one builds the cave, while the other defends it).
  8. Koolasuchus Gigans Koolasuchus Gigans has to be the largest amphibian I have seen on the ARK. Slightly longer than a sarco, this massive salamander can carry 4 people on its back with a special saddle. Koolasuchus Gigans sports an aggressive temper, chasing off any creature that enters its territory. Koolasuchus can be found resting on mud banks or beaches during the day, much like crocodiles do back home. I have noticed that this version of the Koolasuchus, other than being absolutely massive, also sports venomous curved fangs, which it uses to kill its prey. Some tribes have managed to refine Koolasuchus venom, yielded from their tamed Koolasuchus, into bio-toxins. Tamed Koolasuchus also provide their riders with an extended oxygen duration by giving out some oxygen from its skin. Koolasuchus can also carry a heavy load, making it an effective beast of burden. ~Helena Walker I imagine the koolasuchus to be a good travelling and tranqing mount, being able to move through land and water while also having a torpor-inducing bite. The koolasuchus could also provide a source of passively farmable bio toxins, so it would at least have a place in every tribe’s stables.
  9. Eocaecilia - The Multi-use Rope Name: Eocaecilia Species Name: Eocaecilia Micropodia Time: Early Jurassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Neutral Wild Eocaecilia is a medium sized amphibian similar to a present-day snake although this one has 2 small arms of a lizard. These creatures live on swamps, jungles and even caves near the coast of Fjordur. They grow to be fairly big getting to be almost 3m in length which is quite larger than their real-life size only reaching 18cm - 20cm. The Eocaecilia is known to do a variety of things which are... out of the usual. They sometimes launch from trees or from the ground with an incredible force to then land around 3m - 4m from the launching point or they launch themselves to catch prey by strangling them. Their long bodies help them by being able to "harpoon" things without needing to launch themselves. Domestication In order to tame the Eocaecilia it will be rather simple. They are highly attracted to meat specially fish and even more prime fish, if you slowly sneak up from behind and feed the Eocaecilia these will enter a "trance" state where you only will need to KO it. Bolas are useful if you don't want it to escape. Abilities 1. Strangle: when you have the Eocaecilia on you you'll be able to launch it to a nearby small creature or another human so it can strangle it for a few seconds before fleeing back to your position. 2. Harpoon Bite: the Eocaecilia will use it's body to harpoon a nearby target and bite it furiously. It can cause mild bleeding for some seconds. 3. Harpoon: the Eocaecilia can harpoon any object nearby and this automatically enter your inventory. 4. Grappling Hook: if you charge this ability for 5 seconds you'll will be able to hook to any surface that's close by. 5. Grab: you'll be able to grab small creatures and babies with this, this however drains stamina really fast. Bonus Stuff 1. You can use the Eocaecilia as a scarf or as a tie since when tamed they will have the ability to change their color to green, blue and red. 2. You can farm berries and fiber while using the grab ability.

    Beelzebufo

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Beelzebufo Species: Beelzebufo palucocus Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Languorous Wild: Beelzebufo palucocus is the largest frog I've ever seen. Almost impossibly large, it can actually fit a full grown human adult on its back, though just barely. This is a dangerous prospect, though, as secretions from Beelzebufo's skin and saliva have a narcotic effect on most creatures. Not surprisingly, Beelzebufo is adept at killing insects. In fact, it kills most insects near-instantly, and quickly digests them. It even combines the narcotic chemicals in its mouth with the insects' chitin to create a sticky substance, allowing it to quickly grab prey from afar, and yielding a form of cementing paste. Domesticated: Tamed Beelzebufo make for strange mounts. Strange mounts for strange people. Many tribes don't believe there's any reason to ride them. But some like the ability to take large vertical hops up huge walls and cliffs. Regardless of how it is ridden, Beelzebufo is also employed for its ability to quickly cull insects, and convert them into always-useful cementing paste.

    Diplocaulus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Diplocaulus Species: Diplocaulus Natatorinutrix Time: Permian Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Skittish Wild: Presiding almost solely within island's swamps, Diplocaulus Natatorinutrix is a small amphibian that primarily eats minor fish. It rounds out what I consider the middle-bottom of the ecosystem, feeding on the tinier non-insect creatures of the island while itself being a common snack for the larger carnivores. Because so many creatures prey on it, Diplocaulus has become very skittish and often flees at the first sign of trouble. It uses its amphibious nature to escape into whichever environment its predator isn't native to. Diplocaulus unique capability to retain vast quantities of oxygen allows to effectively remain submerged for hours at a time, usually outlasting even other amphibious creatures that might otherwise prey upon it. Domesticated: There are only a few uses for tamed Diplocaulus. It is primarily used for the (rather disgusting) practice of employing Diplocaulus as an oxygen bag. Diplocaulus stores air in the bladders of its head, and divers can suck from these bladders to take deep breaths while submerged, supporting long-term underwater exploration without the use of external gear.
