Hello Taming Raptors can be tricky, but here are a few tips: 1.Use a bola to temporarily immobilize them. 2.Build a simple stone or metal pen to trap them. 3.Aim for the head when tranquilizing. 4.Consider shooting from a high vantage point. 5.Bring plenty of tranquilizing arrows or darts.   3. Hello there, I've been trying to tame a couple of these agile predators lately, but I seem to be struggling with the process. They're incredibly fast and aggressive, making it hard to get close enough to tranquilize them without becoming their next meal. I've tried a few different methods, like building traps or using bolas, but so far, I haven't had much success. I'm wondering if any of you seasoned survivors have any tips or tricks up your sleeve that could help me out? What's the most effective way you've found to tame Raptors? Any particular trap designs or strategies that work well?   4. Here are 5 tips to quick start your game. 1. Tame the moschops you find on the beach. They gather lots of fiber, thatch and berries early game. They can also automatically gather from bushes if set to wander. 2. Burn as much wood as you can, try to always have 1 campfire running, even if not cooking anything.   5. Chapter 11, The Dangerous Deserts of Scorched Earth. Fred and Larry wake up to something most interesting that is taking place at the spiked fence. A female adult raptor is at the fence along with the two claimed juveniles on the other side. They are talking calmly to each other. Strangely, the Morleys are not disturbed by her presence. In a bold move, Fred has gone outside the fence with a coe and cautiously offers it to her. She carefully takes it from his hand and slowly eats it, then comes up to him to be petted. “You got some balls to go out there like that,” Larry tells Fred. “She has not acted aggressively to me or to the youngsters,” answers Fred. “I think we may now have a foster mom for our claimed youngsters. Bring me some of Doc’s medical brew. She must have been injured in a fight last night. It should be safe to bring her in with us so that she can be with the youngsters.” With the female raptor Fred has named Rosemary due to the colors on her feathers, they treat her injuries with the medical brew as she interacts with the two juvenile raptors and the men treating her injuries. During the treatment, several large quills have been pulled out of her face, neck, and arms. “What do you think those are from?” asks Sergeant Thomas as he comes over to examine their new tame. “Those look like some kind of giant porcupine quill,” answers Doc as he examines them. “Given the size of those quills, it must be bigger then this raptor.” “I’ve never seen anything like that in any of the scientific textbooks,” I tell Scott. “Then again, there were no examples of anything that looked like those Morleys in those textbooks either.” “We had better armed ourselves with shields, swords, and crossbows as soon as possible,” answers Sergeant Thomas. “Given the fact that we don’t know what’s could be out there, we had better be prepared for anything.” Tom has already been busy crafting up the steel needed for the weapons. “I should have them ready by mid afternoon,” he announces to this lost patrol. A supply drop beacon has been spotted coming down in the dry wash. Given the unknown in the area and the fact that there are places in the dry wash that could harbor predators hiding in ambush, six of us armed with bows and spears, head down to retrieve it. Rosemary follows Fred out to the supply drop. “She insists on coming with me,” announces Fred as the female raptor sticks close by him. Reaching the supply drop, it is found to contain a high level raptor saddle and a high quality crossbow. “Great! I just got a new saddle for Rosemary,” replys Fred as he checks out the contents of the drop. Placing the saddle on the raptor, Fred finds that it works quite well as he proceeds to ride her. “I thinks that she likes it.” He rides her about in the dry wash as both of them become familiar in how a saddled raptor can be ridden. “Wasps!” something suddenly makes a noise from behind some boulders in the dry wash nearby. “Look out!” warns Larry as he loads the new crossbow to deal with the unknown threat. Spotting it, Fred yanks hard on the reins to pull the raptor out of harms way kicking her in the flanks at the same time. She hisses in protest from the violent maneuver. They duck behind a boulder as she trips over a fallen log, and take a tumble as several dozen spikes go flying just over their heads impacting on the cactus and splintering off of the rocks beyond. Larry drops the threat with an arrow to the head as Fred and the raptor scrambles to get back up. “That was close,” he comments as he tries to calm her down. “This must be what attacked her during the night. What is that thing?” “That thing looks like a giant porcupine in a dragon body,” comments Doc as he examines the new creature. “There’s nothing like this in any of the textbooks on prehistoric creatures.” “Those quills might be useful for use in a dart gun,” reports Sergeant Thomas. “Lets collect them to use for a new weapon.” Cautiously the rest of the patrol go over to examine this new threat of the desert dry wash. Finding that it is indeed dead from the crossbow arrow into the head, the others start to pull out all of it’s quills with gloved hands, then proceed to skin it. “Let Rosemary know that we got rid of this threat,” orders Sergeant Thomas as they start to butcher the creature soon known as a Thorny. Eventually, Fred is able to coax her over to where the rest of the patrol is butchering up the Thorny. She quickly calms down when she realizes that the threat is over. “As soon as she will let me, I’m going to continue surveying what is down on this dry wash,” Fred tells the others. “Be careful out there,” advises Sergeant Thomas. “I will,” answers Fred. “That scared the wits out of the both of us.” After a bit of coaxing to let Rosemary get some of her confidence back, Fred takes the raptor on a quick trip down to the end of the dry wash. It opens up into a desolate sea of sand that stretches on forever. In the distance on the horizon, the ruins of a large desert settlement can be seen in the haze from the hot morning sun. A mountain range barely is visible a long ways beyond. “That’s as far as I want to take you without the others along,” he tells Rosemary as they turn around to head back to the rest of the patrol. She chirps happily in agreement with his decision. It is noon by the time the six man patrol returns to the campsite with a bounty of leather hide, raw meat, and a huge bundle of 12 inch long barbed spikes. “Those will come in useful for a dart gun if we have to fight the bats in a cave,” reports Doc as he examines one of the barbed spikes. “With some additional toxin on the tips, they will be even more effective then the darts the Laotian locals were using against the NVA in their ambushes.” The other six individuals of this lost patrol have not been sitting idle either. While Tom has been working on crossbows and swords, the other five have been out survey the area for resources and possible tames. Dave and I have located and tamed two Parasaurs. Their behavior and intelligence has been similar to those we first encountered on The Island. They have proven quite useful in our tasks in expanding our camp and fenced in enclosure. A male raptor was obtained when we had to knock it out with tranc arrows before our Morleys decided to take it out. Seeing that we had the two juveniles interacting with us, it soon figured it out that it would be safer to stay with us then try to survive in the desert alone. A small pack of four Dire Wolves surprised Eddie and Mike later that morning as they were returning from a hunting trip where they took out a pack of Terror Birds using poison tipped spears. Climbing up onto the cliff above them, they knocked out their pack leader with tranc arrows. As the rest of the pack watch, they were able to tame the pack leader. Before they knew it, they had the loyalty of the rest of the pack with them and rode back on the two leaders with the other two serving as pack animals. Most unusual is when we were all back together around noon, a pair of giant kangaroos showed up at the watering hole along with a small herd of camels and some primitive giant flightless birds known as Moas. They were all quickly passive tamed with their favorite foods, those purple berries that grow in abundance around out camp in the small cactus patches. A supply drop showed up with a saddle blueprint for the Moa, a Giant Kangaroo saddle, enough wool for a second one, and a stack of preserving salts. We now have a mount for everyone as well as extras that could serve as pack animals once we were ready to conduct an extended patrol away from out oasis camp. “Where do you think where we can find crystal for a spyglass?” asks Denny. “We could try looking up on the mesa,” I answer. “Lets try out these Kangaroos. They should be able to carry extra supplies in their pouches.” With a second saddle made, Denny and I saddle up the two Giant Kangaroos. We find they ride similar to a Parasaur but it’s a bouncy ride as compared to a two legged stride. “How are we going to get up on those ledges?” asks Denny. “Lets see if they can jump up there,” I answer. With a cue to the sides, the Giant kangaroo charges up it’s jump leaping up to the ledges with no effort at all. “This is great!” I tell Denny. “We can reach places with these creatures that would be most difficult otherwise.” “Those back legs should pack quick a kick against a predator,” answers Denny. “I bet that they could drop kick unconscious most any threat their size or smaller,” I answer. “Lets test it out if we have the chance,” Denny answers. Continuing up the mesa, we finally find what we are looking for. Spy glasses are crafted with the crystal found in the area. We also find some metal node and harvest them given that there are no river rocks in our canyon area. We are able to pack a sizable amount of metal given our rides can carry a lot of weight. Coming down from the mesa, we run into a lone male raptor. It decides that I would make a good meal. Big mistake. My Kangaroo drop kicks the raptor as it runs in to attack thus knocking it out. Eventually, we end up with a tamed male raptor for Rosemary when it finally wakes up. I name him Ralph and craft a saddle for him. It is late afternoon when we head back to camp with our booty. Metal ore is placed in the forge. The spyglasses are handed out to the others for use. At the evening meeting, it is decided that we should continue to look for civilization. “Lets plan an expedition over to that desert village Fred spotted out in the desert,” suggest Sergeant Thomas. “I suggest that we leave the slower creatures back here and just ride our fast creatures,” I answer. “Good idea,” answers Sergeant Thomas. “That way, we can travel light and fast to stay away from danger. I’ll have Doc make us up water skins for everyone. Lets plan on traveling early in the morning so we can get back here before the afternoon heat becomes a problem.” The rest of the evening is spent on preparation for the trip planned for the next day.

  12. Title says it all. I play on an official crossplay pvp server and I can't seem to unlock all of the holograms. Very disappointing as I only need monkey and dragon holograms to get my +10 levels for getting all the notes. I have done all bosses multiple times but the holograms seem to be given out randomly. My buddy is having the same issue and he just got the broodmother hologram after over 20 runs. Anyone else experiencing this? Any tips on how to get it unlocked or is it just another bug?

  15. Hey gamers, I run a private PVE Nitrado server. I've tried researching this issue elsewhere but haven't had much luck so I figured i'd give this a try. We have the mod downloaded for the Gigantoraptor and have done several dino wipes but can't seem to get them to spawn in the game. Does anyone have any helpful tips? We have other dino mods on the server which are working fine but so far we've not had any luck getting the new dino in. Again, the mode is installed and on the sever and we have uninstalled and reinstalled the mod. TIA -Shotz

  17. Is there any setting tips out there for help with consent crashing on solo play for PS5? I play primarily on official but was curious about mods so I started a solo play with the additional dinos and npcs mods just to check them out. I can play for maybe 2 to 5 minutes but then the game crashes and rolls back. God forbid I leave base or try to go in a cave. I literally have to worldsave every few minutes just to make any progress. Are we unable to play with mods on PS5 solo? Is there a limit to how many mods we can play? I hate to have to only try one mod at a time just to check out the new dinos and try new things on the game. I'm not even sure if its the mods that are giving me so much trouble. I hope that it is just me doing something wrong and I can fix it because there is no way I can play the game like this. 😞 Thank you in advance for any tips

Excellent alternative that is little used: Mammhut (only drawback in breeding is that it is mammalian) Similar to what Pipinghot wrote although I prefer to put at least one pair with more points in damage. In addition to the tips: make sure you bring both male and female specimens to get the pair buff, if you use Thery remember to put some Cakes on them (about ten would be ideal on each of them) minimum 5 are very important, the BP of 77 is good especially if you use a Ravager Tonic to move your points in Creation Skills before creating them, good quality Ghillie clothes and soup for the heat, a shotgun to eliminate annoying Dimorphodons and to shoot the Dragon when it is in flight, finally I like to have a high health Mammhut pair (or squad) (also with Cakes in inventory) for its debuff effect. Keep in mind that the Dragon tends to target your Dino with the Weight of greater Drag, so you may be able to block it by having it surrounded by Thery while it tries to reach your Yuti, an alternative is to add a pair of Rexes to the team (one male and one female) which will draw the Dragon's attention to them, on them the health points have a relative value due to the percentage damage of the fire but it helps with normal attacks and minions (I would try to put all life on one and all attack on the other). Regarding the basic points it is definitely recommended to have more than 40 in both HP and Damage and all with Imprinting. PS: Did you manage to beat Dinopithecus King?

Later this week we plan to roll out an update that will make some changes to our current structure decay rules. In essence, we are redefining what we consider a viable minimum base or set of structures. Structures which do not meet this definition will rapidly decay resulting in the ability to either destroy them by hand or have the server automatically destroy the structures when they are loaded/leave stasis. Our intent behind this change is to address structure spamming issues (pillar/foundation spam) which often takes place when players attempt to claim or grief different areas of the map in both PVE and PVP. We anticipate that this particular update will be iterative and there most likely will be additional adjustments in the coming weeks as we work to resolve this issue. Code of Conduct Changes! Following our previous Crunch, the Enforcement Team are back again with another important notice regarding the Code of Conduct. We'd like to make Official Players aware of the following revision: Hacking and Exploiting Revision Exploiting - examples are not limited to but can include: Attacking from, travelling through, or building in unintended game-zones (under the mesh or above the map) Duplication of tames, items, or characters Unintended building mechanics (such as floating structures, using the world barrier as a snap point) Building a box on a platform saddled dino to completely prevent it from taking damage Modifying your game files to remove key graphical components (water, fog, etc) Attacking or blocking players through the terrain with dinosaurs Intentionally crashing users or servers (through DDoS or otherwise) Placing excessive quantities of C4 to prevent hostile C4 from being placed Stacking multiple creatures inside each other's models via raising babies close together, teleporting them near each other, downloading them, etc (ex: multiple brontos in a 1x1 foundation area) Please remember that these rules are constantly undergoing change, and they are never exhaustive. In addition to the above change, it's recommended you check out the entire code here. Small Tribe Servers Tomorrow! Tomorrow we will be releasing our first set of speciality servers on all platforms. These servers will be Small Tribes servers which limit the tribe size to 6 players maximum and alliances are not allowed. Server rates will be 3x (harvest, taming, experience) and will not be affected by Evolution Events. They will also have 2x maturation, 2x egg hatching, 2x gestation and 50% reduced mating interval. These servers will undergo a trial period of 60 days. If after the 60 days they remain active, we will continue to keep the servers active. If after the 60 days the player population is very low, we will try a new game mode type and online new servers for another 60 days. I received tutorials for ballistic missiles that have an impact on the environment, remote-controlled spy drones, a dynamic creature skin, and a mapping tutorial on cave creation (Something that a lot of people have struggled with). This month the theme for the mod tutorial contest is "Beach and Ocean Fun" and the submission period is currently open until June 30th. Tutorials for this contest could easily range from map level content to maybe some fun mini-games for the summer. We'll have to see what the mod community thinks up! ? The Great Migration #3: ETA June 12th! Just a reminder that there are just under 2 weeks left for the next stage of our Legacy migration. Here is a quick breakdown on how this process works: Taking Down Low Pop Servers With calculations based on sustained player-count as well as the popularity of game mode, we will be removing lower population legacy servers, most of which retain a 0-1 player concurrent population. These servers will be taken offline on June 12th. Any existing server that is not considered a low pop server and is not taken down at this time will still exist on the Legacy network. Legacy servers will continue to remain on a separate cluster from the new cluster, which means you will not be able to transfer anything between Legacy servers and the new servers. Servers Up for Deprecation Below is a complete list of the LEGACY servers that will be deprecated come June 12th. You have from now until then to move your belongings onto a server not present on this list. Please click one of the links below. They are separated by platform (PC, Xbox, and PS4). Most Popular Servers To avoid players having to move again in future, we're publishing the most popular servers across all platforms. Survivors are advised to use Cross-ARK immediately to relocate their belongings onto a server that is not included in our take-down list above. Allocation of New Servers Our new method of onlining new servers has been through what we call "FRESH" servers. These servers are added to the main network but have downloads disabled for a period of 60 days. After 60 days that restraint is removed and they are officially joined to the main network. We plan to online set of Fresh servers on a monthly basis for all platforms so stay tuned for more information on when new ones will be added if you're looking for a fresh start. Server Saves of Deleted Servers We will make the save files available as soon as we can. We will host the PC files which anyone can download and then you are welcome to re-host the save file for your own use. We'll include a link to where you can download server saves in this post when they are available.   24. Suggestions that request better visuals are somewhat in the game already. Examples: There are wet textures on specific areas when the light shines the right way. Dropping resources as their physical item is already in aberration when earthquakes occur. They just need to "expand it" in a sense. Completely rework singleplayer so it functions, stabilizes and runs just like a server would. A quarter of the options in singleplayer when toggled on does not work or will turn themselves off upon loading in the game. Make ALL the singleplayer options work. When uploading characters in singleplayer, Allow players to successfully transfer to other maps with their whole inventory just like a server would instead of needing to manually add each item to the Ark Data tab. Make non-tethering private multiplayer hosting, similar to Valheim or 7 Days To Die. When planting crops, Berry Crops should have colored visuals on the berries.. For example: Tintoberry crops should be colored red and Narcoberry Crops should be colored black Set "NPCLerp to Max Random Base level" to 0.5 on ALL maps so it matches Ragnarok level range of wild dinosaurs. Increase the Drag Body hitbox range by triple its original value. Add a toggle option for Griffins to enable or disable auto landing when ridden. When any dinosaur runs out of stamina, Make Toggle Sprint automatically turn off instead of players needing to manually hit the Toggle Sprint key to turn it off. Creators of the Ark Maps (both Story and Custom) have forgotten to add the scuba goggles function. Make Scuba Goggles function on all maps. Additionally, fix the Gas Mask "See All" bug while under water. When in singleplayer, any flying creature that hasn't landed will suspend themselves in the air. If you log out, and log back in. The creature gets forced to move upwards upon log in. Creatures such as Phoenix and Astrodelphis will constantly do this since they cannot land. Allow Phoenix and Astrodelphis to land. Additionally, fix Astrodelphis from lunging forwards every time a player goes out and in render distance of Tamed Astrodelphis. When making premade recipes such as Enduro Stew, Medical Brew, Broth of Enlightment etc, Give exp values per craft. If you adjust "Player Damage" in singleplayer or in server settings, it will scale with durability melee weapons. For example: If I set my player damage to 2.0, Melee weapons lose durability at double the normal rate. Fix the durability loss when adjusting Player Damage. Add a toggle option for disabling auto snapping with structures. Whenever a player fills any kind of item that holds water in a area that's 32°F (0°C) or below, The Water should be iced like Canteens and Water Jars in Refrigerators. Allow players to play on Ragnarok without requiring The Center on PC. When players are sleeping on beds, give them a rested buff. I don't know what benefits one should get from resting. A few ideas are: Slightly less stamina drain. Slightly increased exp gain. Take slightly less damage. (Those are just examples). Only choose one benefit unless more than one would be a better option. Scale the benefit amount depending on the bed you sleep on. Example: Beds would give a slight increase in benefits. Bunk Beds would give a decent increase in benefits. Tek Sleeping Pod should remain unchanged. (Note: This is a personal opinion) Make Beelzebufo gain cementing paste when harvesting Mantis, Araneo, Arthropleuras and Scorpion corpses as they are insects. Optionally increase the damage done when Beelzebufo attacks said insects. Add an auto run key that allows auto piloting on all dinosaurs similar to how a Tropeognathus Jet auto pilots when the Jet is enabled. (Note this is a personal opinion) Water tames should not instantly die when they are out of the water. Instead, water tames should have an oxygen meter where it will drain over time when water tames are out of the water similar to players suffocating in water. This will stop Ichthyosaurus from beaching themselves above the ocean. Additionally, Stop water tames from swimming away at very fast speeds after combat. Re-write Mei Yin-Li's story about bringing a Giganotosaurus to the Megapithicus fight since players are not allowed to bring The Demon King to boss fights. Additionally, re-work dinosaur dossiers to accurately describe their abilities. (Note: This is a personal opinion) When swinging melee weapons against player built structures or map pre built structures, make the weapons "Recoil" against said structures. For example: I have a sword, I whack the sword at a player built structure, it should "bounce back" when hitting the structure. (Note: This is a personal opinion) There is an exploit with the toilet where if a player defecates into the toilet pressing the force defecate button and then flushing the toilet, it'll allow the player to continue defecating until the auto defecate kicks in. Fix the toilet exploit. Wild Carnivores will gain a lot of health by consuming corpses. Wild Herbivores cannot heal without the help of a snow owl. Make Wild Herbivores heal by having players throw sweet vegetable cake, honey, or Tintoberries on the ground in a similar manner as honey. (Tintoberries have natural healing properties according to lore) Veggie Cake heals all health, Honey heals half health, Tintoberries heal 10% of health per stack of Tintoberries. This should serve only as a way to heal wild herbivores, this is not meant to gain taming affinity. (Note: This is a personal opinion) Dinosaurs that specialize in harvesting rocks, crystal, obsidian, metal and trees should have area of effect harvesting similar to herbivores gathering multiple plants at once. If too unbalanced for official servers, add a toggle option for Singleplayer and Unofficial Servers to enable this. (Note: This is a personal opinion) Dinosaurs spawn or wander into the terrain of maps and can't be killed, tamed, or seen. Stop dinos from clipping into the terrain. Make the Tek Rifle shoot instantaneously rather than a slow moving projectile. Tek Railgun, Tek Pistol and the Tek Bow all fire instantly. Adjust the Tek Rifle's DPS accordingly if you must. Additionally, allow the Tek Pistol to fire underwater. If the damage is deemed too overpowered for the water, allow only the Heal and Stun modes in the Tek Pistol to be used in the water. (Note: This is a personal opinion) When a species dies among their kin. They should run away or become aggressive depending on the creature's temperament instead of the species acting as if nothing happened. For example: I one shot a Pteranodon in the head with a sniper. It instantly dies. The very close by Pteranodons that normally would be running away are instead walking on the floor as if nothing happened. Allow players to passive tame herbivores with crops such as Rockarrot, Savoroot, Citronal and Longgrass. When on a Obelisk Platform when players are getting ready to do a boss fight, Let players know the drag weight of creatures, OR let players know what tames are allowed into the boss fight at the obelisk terminal. (Note: this is a personal opinion) In singleplayer on random occasions, when uploading a character with the intention of traveling to other maps. The game will crash. This occurs on Playstation, Xbox and PC. Fix the singleplayer upload character crash. There are complete barren areas on maps where there are no resources and there are no dinosaurs. Fill in empty spaces on maps that have large unused space (Note: This is a personal opinion) Rework current tips and make additional tips during the loading screens with useful and helpful information about the game and its mechanics. Examples: "Pteranodons are usually the first flyer you can ride when you tame one. Taking to the skies is important to survive on the Ark." "Making dinosaur traps can sometimes work but may also need to be adjusted accordingly. Get creative when building dinosaur traps!" "If you play on PvP servers, you may lose everything you worked for. Consider this when playing on PvP." "Official PvE servers do not allow ridden flyers and ridden Karkinos to pick up wild dinosaurs. But you can still pick up your own tames." "If you are ready to start raising baby dinosaurs, make sure you have a lot of food prepared to keep them fed for a long time." (These were just examples). Additionally, make multiple tips show up during load times. Have tips fade out and fade in with a random tip per fade out. When loading into a server or singleplayer with mods, allow tips to be read during the mod loading phase. Add more flexibility when building on rafts so builders can turn rafts or motorboats into actual looking boats or pirate ships. (Note: this is a personal opinion) Re-model the Motorboat. Currently the motorboat visually looks like a metal raft. Add an option to search resources in the Player Engrams inventory to see what engrams require what resources. For example: I'm curious as to what black pearls are needed for. So I would search in a different search tab "Black Pearl" in the engrams list and all engrams relating to requiring black pearls will show up, similar to searching for a specific named engram. (Note: This is not a personal opinion) Return Rockwell's (Aberration) original roar when he first rises from the molten element. The reused roar from Gen2's fight doesn't match nor sounds like it belongs in the Rockwell aberration fight. (Note: This is a personal opinion) When crafting, All resources should be used at once when crafting more than one item at a time, instead of resources being used once per craft. For example: I want to make 37 thatch foundations. Instead of resources being consumed one at a time per foundation. All resources are consumed and it makes the foundations over time. Instead of plainly decreasing players hypothermal insulation when it rains, add a "wet" debuff to players whenever they interact with large bodies of water or when it rains that will decrease hypothermal insulation. When near open flames, the the effects of being wet are reduced until the wet timer is gone. Add an option that can be turned on or off on Flyers that will set weather or not they will automatically land on the floor or stay suspended in the air. Make all trophies (such as Tuso Tentacles, Sauropod Vertebras, Titanoboa Venom etc) displayable on the Trophy-Wall Mount structure. When a player rides a dinosaur and they are crafting within the player inventory or is crafting at crafting stations such as Chem Benches and Smithies. Exp should be split between the Tame and the Player only when ridden. For example: I am making 10 spears. 1 spear equals (example sake) 6 exp per craft. Exp should be split to 3 between the ridden tame and the player. Additionally, add an option to disable exp sharing when riding dinosaurs under the Options section of the radial wheel. (Note: This is a personal opinion) In third person, the hit detection when humans are swinging melee weapons is very slightly larger than in first person. Make Human melee hit detection match First and Third person. Additionally, add proper animations in third person on humans whenever they reload ranged weapons. As human hair grows, it should very slightly increase hypothermal insulation as it grows. (Note this is a personal opinion) When leveling up dinosaurs, add an option to put more levels into a single stat with a single click. Example: My rex has been sitting in a cryopod for a month. I get the rex out and the rex has got 40 levels ready to be put in. I want all 40 points to go into melee damage. Instead of clicking 40 times to put in the points, I can right click and hit "Add set amount of points" and type in 40. This will save a lot of time leveling up dinos through various methods. When it comes to mods, when more than one mod updates at a time the display of installing mods on the lower right corner of the Ark's main menu screen only shows one mod installing even though its installing 3-5. Make it easier for players to determine what mods updated without needing ark server manager. (Note: This is a personal opinion) Often times when fighting most carnivores or herbivores that fight back on foot, The players always gets stuck on the creature and is somewhat locked in place in a sense. Figure out how to get players to get less stuck on wild creatures. Re-work getting stunned. Any time a wild creature performs any kind of stun (Including bosses) there should be a stun cooldown according to the situation. Baryonyx can infinitely stun in the water. Corrupted Master Controller can stun lock you in place. Cnidaria locks most creatures in place when stunning tames. Get rid of stun locking entirely, OR When repeating stuns occur, have them be diminishing returns. Meaning that each time a stun happens in rapid succession, less stun time per stun eventually building up immunity for a short time. When dropping resource items such as crystal, obsidian, metal, flint, wood, stone, and dinosaur saddles, have the visual of the dropped item be the physical item instead of a box cloth with optional exceptions such as Armor and Weapons. In Aberration, common resources already have physical visuals when dropped on the floor. Dinosaur saddles are already visualized on Dinosaurs, might as well add them on the floor as a dropped item when you drop saddles. (Scale down saddles when dropped as to prevent players from dropping giant saddles on peoples bases. Plus scaling down saddles will help find the pick up hitbox) (Note: This is a personal opinion) Re-adjust the head shot multiplier hitboxes on certain dinosaurs that have head shot multipliers to be more accurate. You have to shoot the chin of a Daeodon for the head shot multiplier to register and not the actual head. Additionally, add more headshot multipliers to more creatures that are small or medium sized. Rework the Tek ATV and the Tek Railgun. If you decide to remove a Tek Engram due to issues, You need to make a replacement tek item. Instead of a Tek Railgun, how about a Tek Shotgun? instead of A Tek ATV. How about a Tek Submarine? When supply beacons disappear due to the timer of said drops running out. Any gear that was inside should drop on the floor as if a player had dropped it instead of instantly destroying the gear. The decompose timer for dropped supply beacon items should be 30 seconds instead of the standard 2 minutes of normal dropped items. The point of this is to stop players from being disappointed when they JUST reach a drop and it disappears. Additionally, add useful items to all supply beacons instead of a single blueprint of crop plots, water jars etc. Replace them with basic resources such as wood, thatch, and stone (examples). So you at least get something out of any drop instead of nothing. When players are riding a dinosaur and if the player has a shield equipped, they should be allowed to activate the shield when the dinosaur is stationary (Note: This is a personal opinion) Give Sea Creatures level up animations, Additionally. Take the idea from Krakens Better Dinos and let players pet their dinosaurs and they'll react as if they leveled up. (Note: This is a personal opinion) When a Player tames a dinosaur. They should gain exp equal to the kill value of said dinosaur. Example: If a Level 150 Lystrosaurus dies. You get 20 exp. If you tame a level 150 Lystrosaurus. You should get 20 exp. If multiple people are near a creature that went from Wild to Tamed, Those people should gain exp split among the original value of the dinosaur. Example: A Level 150 Lystrosaurus gives you 100 exp when you tame it. 4 people were there at the time of tame. The exp is then split to 25 exp each OR they get the set value individually. Imprinting babies should NOT give any exp due to possible exploits. I feel like this would encourage people to work together more. Upgrade the base stats of Riot Gear OR reduce the material cost OR Reduce the level requirement to make Riot Gear. Currently you can't unlock Riot Gear until your 7 levels away from the initial max level, requires very hard to get materials efficiently, and has only 15 extra armor, the same durability as Flak, and only has slightly reduced physical torpor. Extreme few people use riot gear for battle due to how little the margin is between Riot and Flak unless the quality is Journeyman or higher. PvE Riot Gear is considered a luxury. But you can repair Ascendant flak and not have it dent your resources unlike Journeyman Riot. (Note this is a personal opinion) When dinosaurs are set to wander within Dino Leash range, the Dinosaurs will get stuck at the ends of the leash. Figure out how to get them to get unstuck at the ends of the leash. An idea on how to fix this would be to let them wander outside of the leash but make sure they know to go back to the leash. Increase the base speed of insanely slow dinosaurs such as: Brontosaurus, Quetzal, Stegosaurus, and possibly a few others I can't think of at the time of writing this. (Note: This is a personal opinion) Add overall improvements to ADS (Aim-Down Sight). It is confirmed that ranged weapons are more inaccurate when aiming than it is firing from the hip. To test it for yourself, Go into a Rockwell (Aberration) Fight. Turn on god mode. Test out the pump action shotgun. Stand in one spot. Aim for a tentacle on the left or right side of Rockwell (NOT in front or behind Rockwell) and test fire aiming and hip firing and you'll know what I mean. Additionally, make overall improvements to accuracy when using ranged weapons in third person and make bullet detection much more accurate as well. Wild dinosaurs will randomly deal increased and decreased damage when using melee attacks on the same target. Likely the saddle is trying to protect the tame but it doesn't always work. This could be because it depends on where the dinosaur hits your tame but unconfirmed. Make the armor values that dinosaurs receive from saddles a solid damage reduction instead of it randomly being reduced. When it rains, add a wet texture on player built structures, prebuilt structures, dinosaurs, players, player's clothes, dinosaur saddles, player weapons, supply drops and the terrain itself including resources such as rocks, crystal and trees unless in snowy areas. Whenever players or dinosaurs are submerged in water, add the wet texture to said player or dinosaur. Add light rain and heavy rain visuals. Add an extra inch or two of snow on the ground in snow areas when it snows similar to the wet textures in non-snowy areas. Have the snow flakes visually land on tames during snow storms. Additionally, rework the rain visuals and make the rain visible when in shelter so players can see that its raining when they look outside of windows. Add splashing animations from the rain drops on the ground on non-snowy terrain. Add actual lightning bolts similar to The Center when rain storms and electrical storms occur. Upgrade the sound quality of the thunder. Add sound effects of rain hitting player structures. Optionally, make a different sound depending on the structure. For example: Have metallic rain sounds when rain hits metal roofing. Have natural rain sounds when hitting wood or stone roofing. (Such as stone or wood, metal ceilings and sloped roofs). Dinosaurs that gain the "Hydrated" buff when moving or standing in water, should gain the Hydration Buff when it rains. Reduce Wild Giganotosaurus, Wild Carchardontosaurus and Wild Rock Elementals stats until they match their tamed base stat values. You've done a fantastic job with the environmental details in Genesis Part 1. Add similar or new environmental details on all other maps. When in first person, if a player is wearing at least a Hide Shirt and Hide Gloves to Riot Gear. Make the visual of wearing said armors on the character's forearms and shoulders, instead of it being bare skin. For Example: Swing your fists at the air and you'll see the forearm of the character is bare skin and not the Hide, Chitin, Flak or Riot Chestpieces (Note: This is a personal opinion) Figure out how to prevent players from overloading servers with pillars everywhere to prevent "Neighbors" from building in player areas. Something like a land claim structure. Its up to you to determine how to prevent possible exploits. This one will take the most thought and time to consider. (Note: This is a personal opinion) Have a storage system with visual labels on the storage boxes themselves. Additionally, tweak storage management. (Note: This is a personal opinion) Rework player carry weight system. Putting in 30 points into weight, just to have only 26 of those points be actively useful is very irritating (Note: This is a personal opinion) Bleed effects stop ticking damage after the creature that caused the bleeding had its corpse consumed even though the timer is still present. Make bleeding persist after the creature's corpse is consumed. Add a accurate timer when enflamed. For example: The timer of a creature or player being set on fire by a Fire Wyvern is 10 seconds. But the ticking damage persists after the timer is gone. Make the enflamed debuff timer accurate to its tick damage. Figure out how to make death convenient but punishing. The only punishment is finding your stuff, which is barely a punishment if you put a sleeping bag right where you knew where you would die. Maybe exp loss, or "Resurrection Sickness" that reduces base stats for a bit. Keep the beams of light. (Note: This one is a personal opinion) Make flyers walk backwards when landed. When releasing balance changes, Consider both PvP and PvE players instead of considering only one side. Make dinosaurs take full projectile damage from players such as bows and guns, instead of the 30% damage reduction from bows and guns in PvE. Whenever you make a change to a dinosaur, weather you buff it, or nerf it. Change its overall taming worth accordingly. For example: The Managarmr takes (for example sake) 20 minutes to tame by default. You nerf a lot of its abilities. Now the Managarmr should take 10 minutes by default instead. Figure out how to make the PvP exclusive dinosaurs and PvP exclusive items usable in PvE. Examples: Buff the Voidwyrms electric breath damage over time in PvE. Instead of completely nerfing the Tek Railgun to the point where its less effective in all aspects than a Primitive Fabricated Sniper Rifle, remove it for PvP. Keep its original abilities for PvE. Make actual cloud saves. Ark says there are cloud saves. But this is actually not true. Either make actual cloud saves or don't have the cloud save symbol on steam at all IF you do not actually have cloud saves. At the end of everything, I can't tell you how to successfully add these suggestions because I have an extreme tiny amount of coding knowledge, but based what gaming has evolved into, quite anything is possible. These suggestions are meant to give Wildcard ideas to build on or things to consider. Not every idea is a winner but many ideas listed here aren't often considered. This list is intended to widen Wildcard's horizons to see what they can turn the game into, both visually and gameplay wise.
  25. Gorgonoceras, the vampiric aquatic supporter that heals and buffs with spilled blood! Gorgonoceras, a basilo-sized aquatic supporter that does its supporting in a more interesting and active fashion than what we're used to in ASE. Dwelling exclusively within the abyssal depths of The Center's eastern ocean, Gorgonoceras swims around within the depths, luring in prey with enticing bioluminescence before brutally cutting and slicing with its sharp shell protrusions and needle-like tentacle tips, before feasting on the freshly spilled blood. Basically most, if not all of its abilities are based around blood. Throwing my hat in the ring with my own submission, something that normally has a similar to appearance to the more well known cameroceras. The first thing I think of when I think of the center, is the abyssal region in the eastern ocean, and how underused it is. Of course, being an abyssal region it had to be something that looked terrifying. So after some brainstorming with some good friends of mine, we came up with Gorgonoceras ABILITIES Armored Shell: Gorgonoceras' armored shell helps it naturally take reduced damage, and its sharp shell protrusions could possibly even reflect melee damage! Basic attacks: Its basic attacks include lashing with its two longer tentacles, a short charge forwards to cut things with its shell, and spinning itself in an almost drill-like fashion to cause deep wounds and lacerations on your foes. Bleeding: Most of Gorgonoceras' attacks causes its victim to bleed, which could do a damage over time effect, but its main purpose is to create clouds of blood. Blood Clouds: The blood clouds created by Gorgonoceras can give a healing effect to allies who sit in the cloud. It doesn't stop there though, as it can suck up the blood through special organs in its shell, and store it within its body to redistribute the cloud elsewhere, or use it for a few other abilities. Adrenaline Blood Cloud: By mixing the stored blood with a special chemical produced in its body, the Gorgonoceras can create a blood cloud that gives its allies an adrenaline effect, increasing damage, speed and resistance for a time after entering it. This cloud lasts less time than the normal healing cloud, so be sure to get your boost quickly and go put the adrenaline to good use! Tentacle Needle Injections: An alternative method of healing, the Gorgonoceras can use the hyperdermic-needle like tips of its tentacles to inject its allies with blood directly, giving them a small instant heal and a heal over time that is much better than the blood cloud. However while the blood cloud can heal as many creatures as you can fit in it, the injection is single target, but far more potent. Tentacle Needle Extractions: Thats a mighty healthy looking mosasaur your friend has, simply ask to borrow some of its blood! If there are no enemies nearby to fill up your blood reserves, good ask your friend for some willing donations to fill up your blood reserves! Paralyzing Stun/"Petrification": While not actual petrification, victims often feel like they've been turned to stone. By using a set of bioluminescent patterns in the shape of eyes on its inner tentacle flaps, Gorgonoceras can paralyze targets in fear and use the opportunity to extract more blood. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- TAMING: Gorgonoceras must be knocked out like most traditional tames, however its shell makes it highly resistant to traditional tranqing methods. Thus, you must feed your own aquatic creatures narcotics or biotoxin, and allow the wild Gorgonoceras to take its blood and it will begin to gain torpor. Once unconscious, its a fairly standard taming method, requiring blood or kibble to tame. High health creature like mosasaur or tuso are recommended, as you'll need to take a pretty significant beating in order to tame one! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The bioluminescent patterns of gorgonoceras ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DOSSIER (In text form for easier reading) Common name: Gorgonoceras Species name: Gorgonoceras sanguiefialtis Time: Devonian Diet: Sanguinivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Gorgonoceras sanguiefialtis is certainly one of the most unique life forms within the arks ocean. Dwelling in only the deepest parts of the sea, this sanguinivore feasts on the blood of its victim by poking them with its needle-like tentacle tips and razor sharp shell. Just to top off the freakish nature of this cephalopod, it can paralyze most creatures in fear using a special bioluminescent pattern it flashes at its foes. Domesticated: Taming one of these unique vampiric cephalopods is no easy feat, but a few determined survivors have accomplished the daunting task. Its shell renders it immune to most methods of tranquilization, so creative survivors injected their own creatures with narcotics and allowed gorgonoceras to feast on its blood, causing it to injest the tranquilizing blood and knocking it unconscious. Survivors who manage to sate this vampire will find themselves with a powerful ally and surprisingly good combat medic. Side note: Despite their "vampiric" nature, garlic does not seem to have much effect on them. Some survivors found this out the hard way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Design process: For my fellow nerds who're more interested in the creation process, here's a little insight into said process! While I know there are a fair few people who think of the creature first and the abilities afterwards, I do the opposite. I like to think of a general niche or gimmick, and reverse engineer to a creature that would fit well. I love the abyssal region of the center however it is extremely unfinished and underutilized in ASE, so doing and ocean creature for the scary depths of the eastern ocean seemed like a no brainer. Next, I knew I wanted an oceanic supporter, but how do I make something that helps you, terrifying? Why, letting it support you by giving you the blood of your enemies to your allies of course! After asking my good friend Dragon Grimoire for a couple ancient oceanic creatures, we narrowed it down to a few candidates and eventually settled on Gorgonoceras. With some artistic help from my friend RRG, he was able to bring the image of Gorgonoceras to life and make what is normally a pretty silly looking cephalopod, to something you DON'T want to encounter in the pitch black abyss. From there, we polished ability and visual design ideas for awhile and began to finalize everything for the submission! (With the new contest ruling I want to clarify this is NOT a submission from RRG, he merely helped me with the art. The concept and ideas were made by me)
