So this is my concept for the Ark center community vote.
This is Gastornis, a hefty avian brute from the late palaeocene era. These large birds exhibit elements of Macaw & waterfowl in appearance. Although considered strict herbivores these fumbling feathered fiends come with a mean streak when it comes to territory. They are renowned sound gurus in which the possess a powerful inner voice. This ain’t no ordinary game of Duck-Duck-Goose. Prisoner to the call
Through vigorous evolution influenced by aggressive competition against rivals the Gastornis developed a highly sophisticated syrinx exclusive amongst this species. As a vocal species the Gastornis gained an entrancing broadcast call in hopes to gain the attention of prime females, however this call does affect the behaviour of other creatures as well as humans.
The call of Gastornis inflicts Survivors with a new status debuff known as Mania. Mania temporarily immobilises Survivors from gathering, attacking & using the hot bar. In this effect the bird locks the afflicted Survivors to perform random emotes so long as it remains calling. Against tames the call will temporarily lock the creature in a level up animation loop. This attack can be blocked with earplugs as protection, applied as a cosmetic to a Survivors helmet Sleepy snacking
The Gastornis is the only creature known to have the proclivity to willingly consume & gutload itself with Narcoberries for sustenance, making it virtually immune to tranquillisers, narcotics & bludgeoning. Sequestering the sleep inducing effects of the Narcoberry coating it a viscous saliva the Gastornis can lob projectiles at its target with an additional splash damage. This will immediately raise the torpor of almost any target without damaging it. As a tame Narcoberries or Narcotics are used as ammunition indicated as a gauge Dream eating nightmare
Uniquely the Gastornis possesses a song that only attacks targets that have been knocked unconscious. A popular theory to how this works is that the bird uses its syrinx to produce infrasound, damaging & rupturing targets internally but as of yet still unproven & a mystery. This attack is known as the Song of Nightmares where it inflicts a new status debuff known as Traumatised.
Traumatised freezes the target in place while draining health. This Status effect is a stacked ailment of the fear or terror status but it is uniquely applied when the Gastornis sings around sleeping individuals.
The only known cure is the courage roar of the Yutyrannus, the War bellow of the Mammoth or interrupted by an allied Survivor by attacking them. Taming
Due to its immunity to Narcotics the option for a knock out taming for the Gastornis is futile, instead the bird is tamed through a non violent method. By feeding the bird beer the moment it performs its manic song will cause the bird to become intoxicated. If done so repeatedly the Gastornis will become groggy making it easier to feed it Narcoberries or Narcotics.
