  1. Single Player - Offline Modded Extinction Finally back home after two months of travel (work & play) and as per usual after a long haul flight I have a horrible flu. Also 2019 is off to a tremendously crappy start in RL so I spent a couple of days playing ark while at home sick. Better than watching crappy TV. Tried to remember what I was busy with but decided to go scouting for another Argy instead of working on the base. Could not find any Argies worth taming on the Ice dome side of the map but found two female snow owls (120 and 100). Taming them went off fairly simply, well as simply as it can with the Mana's being around. Luckily only got attacked by a level 30 and could sort it out without too much trouble. Got them back to base then went to scout the other side … still nada. Did end up taming a 150 Allo, not sure what for, but it was a 150 in a fairly safe location. Got her home and was heading back out when I went past the 'Megalo trench'. Ah, it's night time since they are busy wrecking everything. Spyglass and there is a 150 with a 45 friend. Must. Tame. It. It was a bit of a disaster … tried leading it to a safer spot, got killed (so many times) almost lost the Argy, only reason I didn't was because the 45 grabbed it so nothing else could get to it (spiders, scorpions, raptors and the 150). The 150 was killing me with one shot - lost 4 Ptera's. Lost gear, but I got the bugger in the end. Tamed out with 57 points into Melee. I have never seen anything with 50 points in anything as a fresh tame. So worth it, sort of, I'm not sure actually. You can see the monster in the attached pic. Anyway, after all that I decided I wanted to have some down time and start a new game on Rag. Where there are no angry purple infested dino's everywhere, where the scenery is nice and you have night and day. You know relax a little, enjoy the scenery. Spawned in at Viking Bay one, gathered stuff, built a tiny thatch hut and found a 145 Trike to tame. I'm winning! Then I hear a Rex roar. DILO?! Run, run, run, run back to the big rock formation with the ramp up the side. If I can just get myself and the trike up there we may survive. We actually manage as the Rex tries climbing up the wall (luckily unsuccessfully) I move the trike up to the point, can't even craft the saddle for a Trike yet. Rex is camping out on the beach in front of my shack. It will eat my shack if it spots it. So … I shall have to lead it away. Game decided that I shall do no such thing and froze, no BSOD, no nothing just a frozen screen. Anyway I'll cut a long story short - I can't play Rag at the moment. Not sure what happened or when but back to Extinction I went. No freezing there, bit laggy sometimes but it might just be my PC. Started working on base some more - started painting. Installed a grinder, and a small breeding area. Finally found some worthwhile Megatheriums. Two females [140 & 130] and a 145 male. Trying to get all their decent stats together. It's been a process. Did the same with the Tapejara's now down to 3, the pretty male and 2 females. Stats are not fantastic but they are pretty. will try to get a pair with the nice colour combo and decent stats. Culled the Ptera's down to 2 as well. I don't use them much and I got the good stats I had in these two. Went looking for another Argy - again. I'll be buggered if I lose the single one I have. Finally found one in the wastelands around the giant skeleton area but more towards the snow biome. 145 Male, he was a bit of a bugger to get tamed but we managed. At least now if I lose the argy I have it won't be such an issue. So two male Argies and 2 female Snow owls (should say 2 worthwhile female snow owls). Also found a 140 Thyla while looking for the Argy. Did not want to be tamed and then almost got eaten by a corrupted Rex moments after taming. Luckily I managed to grab it and fly off. Tamed two more Gacha's - my Gacha's are now very unhappy. I was trying to find a bee hive and stumbled across the Gacha's, for hours and hours. Had ark issues with the hives I found (2 and no bees?) Spawned in a hive. Now collecting honey with a bear from this one so I can get an S+ hive. Also tamed a couple of event Doedics - now trying to get decent stats with a red belly and white shell. Also a process. I also tame a ridiculous event wolf 150 Male (red body with pink back stripe - it's horrible looking), another Allo (140 male) a Therizino (140 - she almost killed us but is now happy collecting masses of rare flowers, also surprisingly effective at gathering fish meat in the shallow pools around the sanctuary, who knew?) an event Morrelatops (145) and two gas bags, one was a 140 the other had an interesting purple colour (100), oh, and more small event critters (Dilo, Monkey etc.). Really need to stop taming - think I might be a ark hoarder actually. Plan for the weekend is to try to finish up the building work I started on. So much to do! Sort out something so the Gacha's are not so unhappy and continue to sort out my Megatherium breeding project. Oh, how do I react to posts? I might just be really daft but I cannot seem to figure it out? Anyway, it's nice to be back, still read all these while travelling and really enjoyed it.
  2. Single Player - Extinction Had some decent time to play since last post. Got a Ptera, then another and another which made scouting so much better. Extinction is apparently super vertical as well - which I am enjoying. Found a higher position for a base with a beautiful view and started the move there. Got my workshop up and running, crops growing and tamed a host of much needed critters. So far, two Anky's (first one was an iffy level, think 60, then found a 130), a Doedic (135 - have not seen anything over lvl 100 since), a Thorny Dragon (150) after giving up on finding a decent beaver (can't find anything with decent levels). 5 Owls, highest being a 70 pre-tame but the rest is mostly lvl 20 - 50. Two Gacha's, decent levels 125 and 135 - the 135 does Black Pearls, Gas balls, Blue crystalized sap. I have more Black pearls than I have EVER had. The 125 does silica pearls, red crystalized sap and oil. So fairly decent. Tamed a 150 Megaloceros - because it was in a relatively safe spot and a 150, while looking for an Argy, near Green ob. Finally found a Argy at lvl 100. Considering the amount of time I have spent looking for Argies and Owls you would think I should just statistically have found something decent by now. No such luck. Saw a 130 Argy but it was in the wastelands in a horrible spot where there was a couple of Giga's, some corrupted T-Rex's and just for fun a corrupted Wyvern. Eh, no thanks. Found a Bear while on this search - not a great location in the wastelands, but managed to tame the 130. Now just to find some more beehives. I've only found 1 so far in the sunken forest. Went hunting for Velanosaurs and to kill Thorny dragons (to get Keratin to make cementing paste). Found 3, 2x 135 females and a 125 male. They tamed out with some decent stats so will start breeding them to get a line going. Stumbled across the prettiest Tapejara I've ever found while going round the Desert, would have tamed it even if it were a really low level but got lucky 130 male! He's in the picture attached. I also have the Rare sightings mod installed, now I have not bothered to craft a radio yet to get the sightings reports but while flying round the Desert I spotted a dark little splodge moving on a plateau. Spyglass it - a Chocolate Dodo Male, level 175! Had a good giggle then tamed that bad boy. He will receive a shrine at the base worthy of his awesome dodo powers. Already have a harem of female dodo's to entertain him. Plan now is to do some work on getting the base more organised and secure - it's rather chaotic, with critters everywhere, work on getting a grinder and get a breeding barn set up also want to try use the tek elevators to use the level below the current one I'm on, otherwise might try the tek bridges or just build ramps.
  3. Single Player - Aberration/Extinction/Ragnarok So I finally got going on Extinction today, Ab is on hold for the time being (I need to see some daylight!). Died a lot, to Megatheriums who just want to see me dead. Bugs (of all kinds) who, when not murdering me, were putting the Megatheriums into a murderous rage. Eventually found a spot with a decent view on a ledge which gave me access to enough resources while still being out of the way (of the murderous fluffy monsters). Been gathering resources and building a little 4 x 6 square starter base. I actually quite enjoy this part where everything is such a struggle. Managed to get up to stone tier today - wanted to get to metal tools but didn't quite manage. Tamed 3 dodo's to store berries in, a dung beetle which I stumbled across while gathering, got the fertilizer going already and a bright red Trike [90]. Trike has changed my little Extinction life! Can now gather much more efficiently. Also killed my first enforcer with her help and came to the conclusion that hunting these could be worthwhile. Plan is to get entire little box enclosed with stone. I've been battling the stealing little **** birds and they are driving me nuts. Get metal tools and get to the point where I can get a flyer so I can explore some more (and murder the stealing birds more efficiently). Might have to try to tame one of the murderous fluffies too at some point.
  4. Single Player - Aberration Managed to get my second base set up close to the Blue Zone entrance, it's not quite complete but it's got most of the essentials in and I'll close off the pen for the Spino's to stay in shortly. There are more nasties here - including Drakes wondering in every now and again. Did find a couple more shinehorns - all really low levels until I finally got one at 68. The search continues for better goats. I also got a gas collector set up not to far from the second base. Eventually gave up on gathering red gems conventionally but went around waiting for roll rats to dig them up. Bit of a process but it worked. Now I just need to sort out out my obsidian gathering and I can get the hazmat suit. My Ravager breeding continues, I'm busy trying to consolidate the stats into a male and female pair - was almost there, had the female just needed the male. Then on one of my runs between the two bases I tamed a pair of Ravagers who have higher stats on 3 separate things and these are all over 30. So, back to frantically breeding. If I can just get a male with these three stats then I can probably get it all combines fairly quickly. Bred the Spino's and got a disappointing female offspring, but I may level her then use her at the second base since she is disposable. Bulb dog breeding is also progressing but it's infuriatingly slow and I seem to be getting a high number of mutations, which I don't want. On the up side I have a whole group of 'Explorer' dogs who are all disposable. The otters are still in a state of chaos. I have not found a single Megalo over 50 since that first level 80 I tamed, have slaughtered close to 20 now? Also had a max level alert from the bulbdog down in the blue but not near the water - first thought is that it is probably a Rock Drake. No Rock Drakes … check every other critter I see, nothing. I spot a achatina - surely not - spyglass, perfect 120 and bright red body. Had a good laugh, will go back to try and tame it. Also found a girlfriend for Alfred but she's at the second base and he is at the first. Time will tell if these two will meet. Plan now is to get the harvesters at the second base, Anky, Doedic, Rollrat and a Bear to start. I may add a Trike if thatch becomes an issue. I've got 8 Ravagers ready to go and the bred Spino female will go live there once she levels a bit as protection. Also have a Paracer there (another one stomping all around the base), was a 108, so fairly decent. Aim is a hazard suit so I can go harvest red gems to get the drake saddle - eventually. First thing is to get a steady stream of Obsidian and continue expansion of second base. It's unlikely that I will have much playtime during the next two weeks, so progress may be a bit slow.
  5. Single player - Aberration I had more time to play this week, which was nice. Got quite a bit of breeding done. The ravager line is progressing well, I finally got all my best stats into one line and lucked out with twins, male and female, but my HP was dismal (17 the highest). While doing a run down into the blue I came across a pack worthy of being tamed (I'm only doing 90+ now) and one of those tamed out with 29 points into HP - Happy Days! Now I'm working on getting that into the line. It is very funny how happy I am with this since on Rag I was not interested in anything without 35+ points into whichever stat I was after. Felt like I won the lotto with this HP. Also busy working on the bears, doedics, bulb dogs and otters … omg I have a serious otter problem. I have immersive taming and I keep taming every otter I find. It's a disaster, but they are just so darn cute. Also found a lone shinehorn - he is the most ridiculous shade of green and low level but it is my first little goat and I love him. Search is on for more of his friends. Tried taming another two Spino's, one was a beautiful blue 120. Unfortunately I seem to be cursed with these at the moment and he went down to a raptor of all things, the second 110 female I tried to tame got killed by my own spino when a pack of ravagers attacked us. Decided to just not bother with Spinos for now. Found one Megalosaur to tame, only one I've seen over level 50. Loving going out with this. Finally got a saddle for the crab and tamed an anky. The combination of these two have made my metal collecting much more efficient and fun. Will have to find a better Anky but have not seen any decent ones yet. The current one was a 60 pre tame, so not great but I desperately needed one - and it is a pretty green colour combo. I did also tame a Rock Drake (you can do this with Immersive taming) - I saw it hanging around one of the pathways I wanted to take down into the blue which meant I kept avoiding that area, 108 pre tame. You need a rock drake feather trophy to make the bait to tame them so I had to find another drake to kill first. Lucked out with a level 8 on my regular path. Took my best Spino to go battle the one I wanted to tame. It gave the spino a good go but she's a bit of a tank so we managed - it also has a nice combination of green colouring. No saddle yet but I'm very excited about having my first drake. Also managed to get the base a bit more organised and the greenhouse is up and running with a dung beetle. I also tamed my first Ape, his name is Alfred and he is the butler. Oh, and I tamed a paracer which was stomping around the base and driving me absolutely nuts. Also tamed a couple of fantastically coloured ravagers today for breeding with later on. Plan for this week is to get a start on little base set up closer to the blue so I don't have to commute so much while gathering resources and to find the red gems - I'm hoping my new Bulbdogs will work better down there. Have had several run ins with nameless, also need to finish the main base area and find a better Anky and more Megalos and goats … I want all the goats!
  6. Single Player - Aberration Since my last post I have been attempting to find a route to the blue zone through the landscape without having to use ziplines (in case I find something down there I want to bring back) but kept on getting distracted by things. A karkino spawned a bit close to base, level 80, sorted myself out and tamed it - yay! Except I have not gotten the saddle sorted yet so it's just a big ornament/protection detail at the moment. Then ran into a 88 Spino female while scouting for the route, rushed back to base and tamed it - I get them close to base and I need something to deal with them and the piranha, it's a pain to have to lure them way onto land to kill them with a mass of Ravagers. Took her back to base and resumed scouting, I have been searching for a Roll Rat (desperately) but could not find anything over level 50, finally found one at 112! Rush back to base, get supplies tame the bugger, get it back home and take it for a spin. It's like driving a slow bus but I can finally stop worrying about my wood supply! I also found a pack of the best ravagers I've encountered so far while going for a metal run, 90 and 80. Been breeding them and now have a base pair with all my best stats combined, still not great but better than what I have at the moment. While once again searching for the route down I spot yet another spino (there seems to be an abundance of them) - 110 Male. Went about taming him. Very happy with the pair and my oil problems seem to be mostly solved with them chomping through trilobites by the masses. Also tamed a 110 Dire Bear male, 116 Trike Male and 144 Tek Raptor who wondered close to base. Finally found a 120 Bulbdog, which will help my line there. Also got completely carried away with the base expansion … chaos. Still need to place everything back down but I'm not done working out exactly where all the bits should go and I'm out of time for now. Will deal with it later. I'll have to start culling critters soon, and get my greenhouse up, and find an Anky, and get the Crab a saddle … and and and …
  7. GenTech1000: Like it - beautiful clean lines. Single Player - Aberration/Ragnarok/Olympus (this update on Ab) Did some more scouting with the Raptors and found my first 3 Ravagers. Went about taming the entire pack (Lvs 40/15/20). Continued scouting with the newly tamed pack - wow these guys change your game on Ab. Went a bit nuts and proceeded to tame every other Ravager I could, highest level I could find was a 96, so the hunt is still on for better ones but I've got 9 … for now ... Found a decent spot next to water and with what seems like abundant resources, including some actual Metal nodes and went about completing and moving my box and most of my stuff. Took several trips to get all the critters, supplies and building materials moved but managed without losing a single dino. Which was a surprise. Did add a second story to the box - it's a work in progress but finally have a functional kitchen and work space. Did a little more scouting which resulted in a run in with Spino and Karkino, the Ravagers had no trouble with either, but we have not hit anything over level 90 yet. Plan now is to expand the box, get a greenhouse going, get honey, find the dung beetles. Plus ongoing search for higher level mounts.
  8. Single Player - Aberration & Ragnarok & Olympus I'll skip the details but a corrupted file destroyed my Crystal Isles save. I had noticed that it was stuttering and PC just generally struggling (need an upgrade but not an option right now) so I managed to transfer some stuff to Olympus. Also been travelling in RL so spent several weeks on the road. I also decided to give Aberration another go. I am not a massive fan of this map - it just seems more grindy and initially I just could not deal with the earthquakes (they give me motion sickness, now I have the effect turned down). Spawned in at the portal. Managed to survive okay and spent the weekend grinding out some basics. Ended up taming trikes and a bunch of raptors which have been great since all the basilisk seem to be here too. Killed four so far, luckily highest level was a 65. Bulb dog collection is growing and I will have to breed some of them to get a decent one. Finally found a pair of Doedics over level 50 … I had forgotten how dismal the levels were on the regular maps. They have helped to get me get together a stone box so I can move to a different location with all my stuff. Not exactly sure where yet and I ran out of motivation at this stage … will return at a later stage.
  9. Found and tamed this lovely 145 Griffin.
  10. ISO Crystal Isles - Single Player [PC] My computer had a melt down and I ended up losing pretty much everything so restarted on Crystal Isles. Found a spot in the middle-ish section and been busy building up a bit there. I had forgotten how slow the going can be building wise, mostly because I keep on rebuilding the bits that annoy me rather than adding more space … finally got the fabricator going so I can start making scuba gear. Been very lazy about getting this going. I seem to just get lost exploring this map, which is fun but not productive! Also decided to try the immersive taming mod - loving it, but my first go with something bigger (a rex) was a bit chaotic to put it politely. Saw a white with red back section 130 Male rex. Not the best but decided bugger it - lets try this bait and then fight the thing to half health to tame further business. Fly there with a wyvern but the wyvern is OP and will kill the rex so it's just transport and a tank, brought my bear to do the actual combat with. Now first problem is the rex has decided to walk down a steep hill/cliff. I try following it on the bear but it's now chasing all manner of creatures though trees before somehow realising the wyvern is parked pretty much above it. Now I know they made the rex climb better but this thing went straight up and started munching on the wyvern (luckily on passive!). Try going after it with the bear - no such luck, have to run back and around. Eventually get to it and fire the bait which starts combat. Spend the next couple of minutes fighting it on the bear which is tanking quite well. Finally get the message that taming can now progress, only by this stage the area I cleared out and where we ended up are not the same so now the rex is chasing everything in sight from raptors to brontos. Luckily it does not get involved in anything high level but it's a nightmare. Finally get the thing tamed but the stats are pretty dismal, on the up side I have a better idea on how to approach the taming. Aim now is to find high level tek rexes, so far only one sighting and it was level 40. Decide to go find a Therizino, I love the tickle chickens, and I need something more efficient to gather fiber with. Spend days flying around looking but can't find anything over level 50. Eventually spot a 140 - Eureka! Much more prepared this time and start clearing out the area only to stumble onto something red in the forest. Spyglass - it's a 150 microraptor. Well, got to tame that … spend a good 40 min, while chasing this thing half way back to base just to get a bait close enough to start taming. Not sure if microraptors did this before? First time I've had one flee like this. Anyway she tamed out nicely - 43 pts in Melee and beautiful all red. Back to the Therizino and it tames without further issues but did more damage than the rex to the bear. Still not overly impressed with the stats (nothing in the 40pt range) but I am now swimming in fiber, also collects heaps of rare flowers and mushrooms. I've also been checking the Griffins regularly hoping to find an event one at a reasonable level - finally found one! 145, with red body and black wings! Plan is to extend the base further, I need space to put the chem bench, build more oil pumps (only one so far), find honey/bees … I saw one hive in the redwoods but it was too high up to reach on the tree (wanted to harvest with a bear not destroy it). Also found the honey cave but could not get any honey with a bear in there. Might have to youtube it to figure out what is going on there … I also need to start on a water pen somewhere. Still scouting for that, a high level Baryonyx is a must find this weekend to get into the water. I also really need one so I can gather fish better for the otters.
