  1. @Floatgoat, I would have to agree. It would be nice to hear something or have a comment made. I was so excited when this post came out because I love the primitive plus version of the game, but it has been so long since we have heard anything. In fact, because of the issues, we have temporarily closed down the primitive plus server my friends and I had on our cluster. As much as we liked it, many things were broken. We hope that it is addressed some day so that we may open it up again. Or if the items are later made an optional inclusion into the main game, we would love that too. Fingers crossed we hear something before too long. ??
  2. Congratulations to the winners! It was nice to take part of the voting process and fun to watch the add videos. And although it may be unlikely, I will go ahead and cross by fingers that we get a part of some of the mods or one of the maps in the future for console game play. ?? Can't wait to see what the next contest will bring. ?
  3. As a console player and as an unofficial server cluster admin-coder I must say, I am very excited for what Valguero has to offer. I realize we aren't getting it at the same time as PC, but we are getting it- and that alone makes the wait worth it. In fact- the entire cluster I work with is actually very accepting of the news and are excited for the new adventure coming to us. ? All in all, thanks for the the time and effort. We can't wait to add it to our cluster and start exploring!
  4. So I have heard, I will sometimes set them to play in the background when I am on the game, and I have heard that is one of the latest rumors going around. And while I would love to see just about any map come out at this point, and Crystal Isle is near the top of the list, personally I am rooting for Valguero. They have announced the map is nearing completion with an estimated date sometime in August. I know that Crystal Isles has a lot going for it, but it seems to have been out for a while and doesn't contain most of the newer items that Valguero takes on as a newer map. Either way, if a new map comes to consoles, regardless of which map it is, I will be much appreciative and a very happy player.
  5. I would have to agree. I am all for new things, and sometimes skins are nice, however it would be nice to get something that is entirely new. A new creature as opposed to a costume. A new tool, weapon, or clothing set as opposed to a skin. The game works with what it has, but it would be nice to have something new. And if this image is a teaser leading up to that, I am all for it.
  6. I tend to word it differently, but you are correct. PC has a large variety of options out there for players to play with and switch between in order to keep the interest in the game alive, whereas Console is limited to a handful of maps and a some gameuser and game ini codes that some can adjust given the certain circumstances. As for your statement, I understand what you are saying, but I don't agree with it. It is easy to say "switch to PC" but not everyone has the funds to do so, nor do they all prefer to play games on PC. The main reason I disagree however, is not due to the funds needed to purchase a new system but the clear fact that just like PC players, Console players also purchased the game and therefore should receive the same focus of those that purchased the PC variety. However, what we see happening are new servers for PC players to play on, updates to add new features and/or items, games fixes and enhancements, Ark sponsored mods, and highlights that are particular to the PC player base. A clearer example you cannot make beyond that of the Ark sponsored mods. They are openly stating that they are willing to pay modders to create content for one set of gamers, PC gamers. While also openly stating that many of those features will not be seen on another variety of gameplay. Now I understand that coding for PC is different and as such, having mods added to it both in house and out of it, are far easier than it would be to do the same for console. Which is why, regardless of the fact that as a console player I will most likely never get to play the mods, I do support the creative endeavors of those that do the work. They are amazing and I do follow quite a few of them. And I will forever cross my fingers that someday console gets even a part of them. That said, since we too paid for the game, I hope that we aren't being forgotten because as it is, it truly feels as though we have. At this point, what do we have to look forward to? No rumors or whispers beyond that which people can pull from reading in between the lines. Even if all we received was a blanket statement that a "new unnamed map" was being worked on, that would be more than what we have now. *And I am not asking for new map or new content tomorrow. I would just be happier knowing something was being worked on, even if it didn't come out until the end of the year or into the next. So for your statement that we are "complaining", I can't agree with that. However as that is how you seem to understand it, I will continue to "complain" until there is something for us to look forward too, because frankly right now there isn't much of anything. *Though honestly I prefer to have it viewed as giving an opinion based on how I play the game and those I play with.
  7. Thank you Cedric, for your acknowledgement and reply. The communication is greatly appreciated. I realize there are limitations, time constraints, and reasons behind the things that are done and said. And if my comment came off sounding harsh, I didn't mean it to do so. I do enjoy the game and wouldn't be playing the game or participating in these comment chains if I didn't. I have met some cool people through the game and we have had a lot of fun playing it. We are simply anxiously waiting the next step in ark to keep the interest there and peak new excitement for those whose interests may be waning. For PC, that can often be a new mod or map to try- for console, it is a little harder at times. So the statement alone that you are looking to bring more content, is nice to hear. And we will wait patiently to soon hear more. Thank you.?
  8. While I fully enjoy the new manner in which the Community Crunch is being run, some of it seems a bit one sided. Particularly this weeks crunch which seems to favor either PC or Official with most statements. One in particular is rather one-sided. "We always look for new mod maps to come to console. I think we have a pretty good track record of working with the mod community :)" Console has 2 mod maps... how many does PC have? Not only that, but how many do they have that are supported and/or sponsored by WC? You may feel as though you are supporting mod maps for console, but thus far, as a console player, that doesn't seem to ring true. Not only do we not have more maps, but the maps you have provided seem to have been forgotten. Our end of modded content inclusion is low. We were given a small portion of S+, which was worked directly into the game, and the rest was left to PC to enjoy. I understand that some factors could "break the game", but it still would have been nice to decide that for ourselves. It could have been an option for us to turn on the rest in server settings. That way officials can remain without if you so choose, but unofficial could at least then have the option as unofficial PC users do. Personally, it seems as though console players are often forgotten. We purchased the game, same as PC. And some of us even pay to run servers, same as those on PC. Yet as far as content we can choose from, or even have access too, we are the last to get anything- if we do so at all. Now I am not saying tomorrow there should be an update that includes everything, but at the very least you should be able to provide a list of things that are coming, even if a date isn't set for release so that we know we are be considered and that we are being given as much time and effort as those for PC -Is there a new map coming? We don't need to know what as long as we know something is on it's way, it's better than nothing. -Is there new mod content coming? It would be nice to know that we are getting something new eventually. Even if we don't know exactly what it is or when it will be here. Please just be a bit more considerate and open with us so we know we haven't been forgotten. -from the perspective of an xbox PVE unofficial cluster coder and admin.
  9. It would be nice to see a few decorative items that fit each of the different building tiers so things don't look out of place. I think merging the primitive plus items is a good first step though. It has much more to offer than standard thus far for decorative and household items.
  10. Exactly. ? There is already a way to hide access of certain engrams on a server, so I do not see why the same couldn't be done for none-primitive engrams should a server wish to continue using the Primitive Plus gameplay. The discussion on the weigh in touched on it a bit, and based on what I read there, I think the best method would be to add a new "Server Setting" area that focuses directly on engrams. There you could either pick and choose which ones you wanted to hide, or check a box that would allow for them certain sets to be hidden or available. For example: These are assuming that all primitive plus engrams and resources were added to standard gameplay. ⬜ Hide non-primitive plus engrams - this would allow for players to play using only the primitive plus engrams. ⬜ Hide all tek engrams - this would allow for players to play using all engrams excluding tek, as some prefer. ⬜ Hide all saddle engrams - this would hide saddles for those who prefer to play without tames. It would clean up their engram screens to show only those they can use during gameplay ⬜ Hide all selected engrams - under this menu, every engram would be listed so the host may select individual which they would like to hide. On another note, should any additional items from other mod sets be added officially to the game, those items too could be turned on or off by checking a box, as prefered by the host. It would allow for a bit more customization for those that do not have access to mods (console players), keep the coding streamlined through one game (hiding engrams shouldn't break the game or be as complicated as adjusting to multiple sets of code as it is between the primitive plus and standard gameplay) , and it would open things up to possible customization later as well (assuming of course the eventually add additional mod content that some may want while others do not).
  11. I agree complete with the points you made. I actually admin on a server cluster, and even though things can't cross over, we did open a Primitive Plus map as well just to be able to use the different items. The transition between the things you can craft is nicely done and it adds a variety of small details to the gameplay that make it both fun and challenging. Not to mention the different build items and decorative pieces. You can do a lot with Ark as is, but to add some of the materials you mentioned would be game changing. There are some people on the map's I admin/play on that have some amazing builds and I would love to see what they could come up with if they had more materials to work with.
  12. If I remember correctly, one of the suggestions on the weigh in thread is to incorporate the primitive plus items into standard game play. This move would hopefully allow for the updating to be a bit smoother as the coding would line up a bit better. On top of that it was suggested that when setting up a server, or single player game, that a checkbox be available that could turn on a primitive mode that would essentially hide all none primitive engrams when selected. So those who prefer to play in the primitive mode could continue to do so. Personally, I am all for it. I know there would be a lot changed in the process, but if it could be done with minimal loss to current primitive plus players, I think it would be an excellent move forward. ?
  13. As a console player, I have to agree with the thoughts of those above. The updates for the conquest servers, mods, and fan creatures are nice to see- but for the most part there really isn't a bit of news for a console player like me. Extinction was hyped up for months before it came out, and the Homestead Update received the same treatment. So there was something there to look forward too with excitement and anticipation. But right now... what is there? Rumors and speculation at best. It would be nice to know where Ark is going next. Is it a new map? New content? Game fixes? Creature updates? Nothing specific. If it is a map, I wouldn't be asking for a name- just that it was on the horizon. S+ part two? I wouldn't need to know what's in it, only that it was on the way. Some direction at this point would be nice. I want to be excited and at this point I simply don't know what to be excited for. That's just me though. Luckily there is a good group of people on the server I am on so the interest to keep playing is there, I just hope that soon we learn something to bring back that extra dose of excitement. That said, thanks for all you do!?
  14. Crystal Isle is a beautiful map that I would love to see brought to console. And yes, it was added to the wiki page. However nowhere is it stated that it is slated for console release-at least not that I could find. Completed or not, it is not playable on consoles at this time. And honestly, even if there are errors and whatnot at this point- I would play it in a heartbeat if I could, errors and all. All I was really wondering is if we could get something beyond rumors and speculation at this point. Ark could go any number of directions, I simply wouldn't mind getting a little bit of an official word toward which they may go. I love the game and will continue to play it regardless, I just want to know what is the next big thing to be excited for. Not code line specifics, but something like, "we are working towards adding a new map-more to come" or "S+ phase one is good to go, now on to phase 2". Vague, but legit. Something to get the excitement up. That's just me though. I don't mind waiting, I just like to know what I am waiting for. ?
  15. Thanks for the update! On a separate note though, any hints for the next direction for ark? New Map? New Items? More S+ Features? I am not looking for any specifics or anything, just an idea so we have something to look forward to. I know there was a post about the Easter Event, and that is great and will be a lot of fun, but it won't last forever... Even a teaser would do. Just anything that lets us know what to get excited for.
  16. Hello again, I responded a few pages back when I first saw the post, ecstatic that is some focus on Primitive Plus. Since posting that however, I have had a chance to discuss this forum post with several others on the unofficial primitive plus and standard gameplay servers that I admin on and code for. We all agreed that we like building materials, the added gardening and cooking, the additional tools, the look of some of the decorative items, and the progressive nature that it seems to have in comparison to the standard edition. Yet, we also came to the conclusion that should it be added to the standard game play, we probably wouldn't be keeping our primitive plus server open. For us, it was the opportunity to use the different items and tools more so than the "primitive nature" of the gameplay in the first place. We realize that there would be those that would disagree with our reasonings however, as it is because of the "primitive nature" of the gameplay that they play on it in the first place. So we discussed what that could look like from their perspective. After all, regardless of how we play the game, we are all participants on this Ark adventure. :-) Which led us to "vote" for including the items in game, but doing so with a checkbox under Engrams that would allow the person setting up the server/game to easily add or remove the more technologically advanced engrams such as Tek. Perhaps a "Primitive Gameplay" and "Modern Gameplay" option of some sort? It would be easier for those who are not as code savvy as some. I know enough to use them, but I also know those that do not or do not have the time or utilities to do so easily. I would imagine that by adding them to the standard gameplay the updates may be a bit smoother once they are functioning properly and that simply having the engrams locked so they can't be accessed would be easier to update than working a complete separate method of game play. I could be wrong, I am a novice coder at best. Off the mention of our "vote" above, is this something that may come to one? Just to see what direction the majority are going in? As a group we were wondering out of curiosity more than anything as we enjoy discussing the many possibilities out there. That said, thank you for everything! We do enjoy the game and will continue to play regardless.
  17. Personally, I love Primitive Plus and have played it on and off since starting with Ark. The additional building items are awesome and seem to be appropriately designed to grow with the survivor. It seems to have a bit more of a progressive learning curve as well, whereas the standard game seems to miss the mark a bit. Adding even just a few of the items and building materials could help smooth that over. Even the consumables make sense, adding character to the kitchen and a few more options beyond the soups and stews. Most on the Primitive plus unofficial server I run would probably say the same as it has be a fun conversation topic with us in the past. It may mean losing our server, but if the items were in the standard edition, we would be okay as we have a server there as well.
  18. Just a heads up, I help run a small unofficial server on the island and thus far the work has been that taming with the new kibble works, as does imprinting. A few of the tribes have already begun rebuilding with the new materials and it seems to be working. Love the dedicated storage. Only minor complaint would be that there is some lag going on right now. Nothing game breaking for us though. So thank you for all the wonderful item inclusions. We can't wait to see what you will be working on next. ? On that note, though they be only rumors, I did read about a possible fan mod map making it to consoles, is there a chance that may be true?
