  1. Is there a fix in the works for the problems that console players are experiencing right now? Namely server crashing about ten seconds into loading a world? Personally I had no issues about 5 days ago. Now, I literally can't even play the game for more than ten seconds without it crashing. Just curious. Love this game on PS5 and it's a real damn shame me and my friends cannot play it currently. Really hoping this gets fixed soon.
  2. Like three days ago, I had a modded non-dedicated server that had an extended host barrier. It was working perfectly fine. My friends could go about 800 meters away from me before they started teleporting, and with no issues from anyone. Plus, all the mods worked great. I had about 30 mods, with some notable mentions being the ferry mod, dwarven building and accessories, all of the current Ark additions mods, the Moro's duo mod, Draconis Glaucus, Visual Storage, and way more. ASA was working great before the 2/25/24's update. (February 25th 2024.) But after the most recent update, my game has been crashing constantly. I don't know if it's the mods I have installed, or if it is just Ark. I've tried everything I can think of. I've deleted and reinstalled the game, nothing. I've rebuilt the database on my system, nothing. I've tried uninstalling every mod and playing the server without any mods, nothing. And I've reinstalled mods in like batches of 5-7 and going into the server. Nothing. And I can't even delete the server because it flat out won't let me. Plus, the host barrier setting is gone. Completely gone. It was there 3 days ago, now the setting is flat out not there. I have a picture of it being there, went to exactly where it should be, and it seemed to be deleted in the update. Can someone please tell me what is going on? I love this game, and I have no idea what is going on. Something like this has never happened with me. Even when I played ASE for 7 years.
  3. (Mind you I don't own the game yet, my friend let me play it through a share play session.) I was wondering if maybe the host barrier could be improved upon in the future. As from what I've seen and researched, it seems as if non-dedicated servers still hold that cursed host barrier. I've heard there is settings to increase the limit of it, but I could not find the setting in my time messing with the settings. Furthermore, it seems as if it isn't even an option in the Playstation version of the game. Do tell me if it is, as I haven't been able to find anything on it. Otherwise, people other than me state that the host barrier does not fluctuate even if the settings are increased or decreased, rendering the setting obsolete in the cases that I have researched. I imagine most of these complaints are on the PC version of the game though, and I can't say for certainty if that is the case or not, as I have no X-box, or PC. But, as it stands, I would like to see some improvements on the host barrier for all ports of the game. Even though I'm pretty certain this will never happen for profit reasons since we cannot host our own dedicated servers anymore, and the only way to do that is to cough up a ludicrous amount of money for a month's worth of server rental depending on the specifics of the server. I know this will probably never be addressed, but even so I sincerely hope at least something is done about it. Sincerely: Jade. A solo survivor.
  4. Those are some pretty valid points with the creatures you mentioned UDGxKnight. I was just thinking the leed and a few of the smaller creatures could be used as more QOL things than as battle mounts, since we have quite a lot of those. Such as the jug bugs being really nice and easy early game tames for Scorched Earth. As that map is already punishing enough in the early game as it is. A jug bug tame of any kind could really help to make things go a bit smoother. And a few of the other creatures in Aberration could be nice as tames too. Such as Lamprey or Glowbugs. Kind of weird we can't tame glowbugs considering their only purpose is to produce charge light no? And as for Fenrir, Fenrir is extremely difficult to get, and it's spawned as a max level on alpha difficulty (150 for officials I believe.) and the stats are usually garbage. Plus, it's just a Direwolf with better stats and Ice armor. Sure the Ice armor is a huge buff as opposed to the normal wolves, but I still think Fenrir should be breedable. Just my thoughts though. Maybe I'm dead wrong as possibly breedable Fenrirs would just be too strong for the game. But yeah, I was just curious if maybe some old creatures would get more usage in the remaster. It's all fun and speculation at the end of the day. Plus, I'm trying to be a little more discussive in the community, and what better place to start than a discussion thread right?
  5. I was just wondering if maybe there would be some creatures in the remaster that will become tameable or become breedable. There is at least one creature that could use this treatment in almost every map that I can think of. These are just to name a few. I don't know exactly how many creatures are not breedable / tameable. (Also, I know some of these might be a bit odd, like the Parakeet fish swarm, but I could see it having a use in some way.) The Island: Coelocanths, Liopleurodon, Leedsichthys, Ammonites, Eurypterids, Cnidaria...then again a tameable bio-toxin farm would be a bit too good I think. Scorched Earth: Jug Bugs, Rock Golems, and "maybe" Deathworms, even though I know the dossier explicitly states they are "Untamable", and possibly even rubble golems. Could be interesting to have a much weaker, but smaller tamed Rock Golem. Aberration: Glowbugs, Lamprey, Basilisks, and Karkinos. I'm not saying Reapers. Breedable Reapers would be way too OP. Extinction: Making Breedable or "Upgradable" Enforcers and Defense Units / Attack Drones. Gen 1: Astrocetus and the Parakeet fish school: They can be used as a small little way to get fish meat. Gen 2: Carnivorous plants: While not an actual creature, these could become another plant species. Plant species C, if you will. They will act just like the wild ones, ensnaring and eating anything small enough. Free maps: Fenrir and Griffins. (Seriously, it's a crime Fenrir isn't breedable to me with how hard he is to get. Plus, Fenrir is probably my second favorite mythological creature, with Jormungandr being my all time favorite.) I just think that some of these could make good additions to the tameable roster. As some of these could be combat mounts, like Leedsichthys or Liopleurodon. And others could be used as more QOL tames, like the Parakeet fish school. I'd like to hear what others think. Sincerely: Jade - a solo survivor.
  6. Very true my friend. Only time will tell I guess. Just hoping that we do indeed get no host barrier to work with. It's such a pain in the Astalos to deal with. lol
  7. I'm wondering if Ark: Survival Ascended will have host barriers on Non-dedicated, as it was on Playstation, X-box, and I believe Computers / Steam. I'm not familiar with the Steam version of Ark. But anyhow, I'm hoping to god there is no host barrier, and if there is, at least a toggle to turn it off. As I believe UE5 and the updated hardware and processing units of the newer generation consoles can uphold a stable server, even if there is no host barrier. As before, once upon a time, there was a brief period of time where Playstation didn't have the host barrier, and it was the most fun I had on Ark with my friends. Personally, I've never had any issues with it back then. But, after they removed it, my friends just stopped playing Ark all-together. Being tethered to me wasn't the most exhilarating experience. ( I tend to build a lot. ) So, for that reason, I ask, will there be a host barrier in the remaster? As that will play a large part in me getting it for my friends. I myself am definitely getting it however, for I love Ark even if I have been playing solo for almost 4-5 years now. Sincerely: Jade - A solo survivor.
  8. My Original Submission for this creature was based in Aberration. I designed it to be influential in the countering of Reaper Kings and Queens. However, as this is not Aberration, I now have to focus my design on something more suitable to counter something Extinction based. And what creature will it counter you ask? This time, my idea stems from a counter to the Velonasaur. Both in a PVP, and PVE scenario. Appearance: I imagine it having a hunched stature in it's default stance, much like real Pangolins, with the saddle being underneath it's neck, just like a Gacha. It has several stances like a Stegosaurus, and the rider will be able to control how exposed and vulnerable they are due to this stance changing ability. There will be three stances. It will change from a slouched / crouched posture in it's first stance, to the hunched posture of the middle stance, and finally the final stance, which will have the Pangolin fully upright, displaying their claws and fully revealing their element infused scales in a threatening and intimidating display. The saddle is also underneath it's neck due to the stances changing how vulnerable the rider is from firearms and elements. Such as Velonasaurs, Wyverns, Basilisks, Magmasaurs, and Managarmrs. While also influencing how effective said elements are to the Pangolin itself. Saddle Design: Underneath the neck like a Gacha. As I hope it can have two saddle designs. A normal cheaper one, and one that can transform it into a Smithy, much like the Thorny Dragon. Mind you, this would be way harder to make. Use in game: I want them to be accessible at all stages in the game. Make them a good early game tame, using basic materials to tame, while making a late game tame viable in PVP, and PVE use. As using better materials will yield better stats, and higher taming effectiveness. While also providing (Hopefully) a bunch of utility. Preferred SIze: About the size of an Carno. Or a bit bigger to make it more in size to the Allosaurus, or even the Rex if desired. As the size will be directly influential to an idea I have for it. Habitat: Mostly the Desert Biome, the Forest Biome, and occasionally spawning in the Wastleands. As Pangolins in real life can inhabit a few distinct locations. Temperament: In real life, they are quite passive creatures, as they are very prone to curling up into balls to stave off predators and threats using their sharp scales, but in Extinction, due to the influence of Element's corruption, this results in a peculiar enhancement to the Pangolin's otherwise passive nature. In Extinction, Pangolins are passive to any creature smaller than itself (Unless Provoked.) They are cautious around anything the same size as them. (Things like Allosaurus, Sarcosuchus, Stegosaurus.) And they become territorial and aggressive if in the vicinity of a larger creature than itself. (Things like Rexes, Spinos, Gigas, Carchas.) Making using a bigger creature unwise for taming purposes. Seen below. Diet: They can consume berries, meat, keratin, and chitin. While favoring chitin, keratin, and the eggs of Insect and Bug creatures. With Arthropleura eggs being their absolute favorite. (The eggs are extremely delicious and nutritious to all Pangolins at any stage in their life, and they are essential to the growth of baby Pangolins in game.) Base Stats: Health: 700 - 750 Stamina: 200 Oxygen: 400 Food: 300 Weight: 500 Melee: 100% = 74-82 damage per hit. Torpor: 2,000 Dossier: Wild: "When my friends and I were scavenging for supplies, we happened upon this gentle giant. A benevolent creature that didn't seem all that dangerous. But looks can be decieving, as the sight of a large carnivore sent this beast into a rampage! It started mercilessly fighting everything in sight. A pack of Velonasaur's spines being shot didn't stagger the creature even one bit! And it dispatched the pack with not a wound on it's body. We evacuated before it found us again, but now we know what makes it tick..." "Smutsia Titanus is a sight to behold in battle. They seem to have gained unique adaptations from the element that resides here. Giving them increased immunites, increased resilience, and making every single part of their body lethal to almost anything it comes into contact with. While they not only have bastion-like defenses, they are also highly intelligent, utilizing their strengths in different ways. Such as being more defensive against small nimble creatures, and being highly aggressive to anything it knows it can use it's sharp scales against!" Domesticated: "Smutsia when tamed, is an invaluable enhancement to any tribe's defenses. As they can curl up into balls to protect important locations, items, or creatures, they can lend your tribe it's scales to create special armor and weapons, and they are also incredible battle mounts. A Survivor can draw out their true potential, utilizing their scales in several ways to fit the situation at hand!" Pangolins in the Wild: Pangolins in the wild have different temperament levels depending on what is near them at the given time. If you are not riding a creature, they will be passive to you. Same if you are riding a creature smaller than itself. Riding anything about the size of an Allosaurus, makes the Pangolin a bit Aggressive. Just stay far enough away, and they will leave you alone. Getting too close will instigate them to attack. And riding anything the size of a Rex or larger, will make the Pangolin aggressive on sight. Meaning you cannot tame them. They also become agitated for a little while. Making them aggressive to all creatures in an attempt to either protect themselves, or to ward off any immediate threats in the area. Pangolins will also have very resistant scales both wild, and tamed. Making survivor made weaponry ineffective. Velonsaurs both wild and tamed will also be ineffective even more so, as the scales are highly enhanced by element in order to deflect the Velonasaur's spine fire. How to Domesticate a Smutsia Titanus: Taming a Smutsia will require something that no survivor has had in their lives...COMPASSION AND LOVE!... In all seriousness, taming a Smutsia will require you to be friendly to it. As they are quite passive in real life. To form a bond, you must show that you will help protect the Pangolin from threats. This will prove to the Pangolin that you are a reliable friend and ally, and they will protect you like one of their own. There will be a couple of different ways to tame a Smutsia, as they have different food preferences. In general, to tame Smutsia, simply walk up to it, without a creature the same size or bigger, and give them a food item they desire. Make sure to clear out any big threats in the area, as they will become aggressive and lose taming effectiveness if they become threatened by a big creature. (THIS INCLUDES HERBIVORES) The process will begin once fed, and you have to protect the Smutsia as it starts to warm up to you. They will wander around surveying the area, and once content and feeling safe, they will start searching for food again. Repeat the process, and Smutsia will be yours. However, using different resources will yield different taming results. The table for which is down below: Using berries and meat of any type will be the least effective way to tame a Smutsia. They will lose taming effectiveness fast, and will take longer to tame. BUT, it is possible. Making a low level a useful and reliable early game tame. Using Chitin and Keratin will tame it at a medium rate, while not losing as much taming effectiveness. The process will take about half the time as using berries and meat. (Using this strategy will require you to passive feed it. Like feeding a diplodocus, or an Arthropleura. Having the desired taming food in your last item slot.) Using Tamed Araneos, Achatina, Dung Beetles, Giant Bees, Lymantrias, Scorpions, Arthropleuras, Mantis, and Bloodstalkers will be highly effective at taming Pangolins. The rarity / strength of the creature influencing the specific taming effeciveness. While not the perfect taming method, this will tame them fast, and lose little taming effectiveness. (Using this method will have you drag the corpse of the creature used to feed it. Much like how you feed the Carcha and the Otter. Using Eggs of the previously listed creatures, and birthed Rhyniognathas (Either fully grown, or babies.) Will provide the best taming method to get a Pangolin. The eggs are highly nutritious to the Pangolins, and they are quite frankly perfect tasting to the liking of Pangolins. Both young and old. The rarity of the eggs will influence the taming effectiveness. With Bloodstalker and Mantis eggs being near perfect tames. And with Rhyniognathas being a guaranteed perfect tame. Domesticated Pangolins: Tamed Pangolins can be used in a variety of different ways. Firstly there are different stances the Pangolin can utilize, increasing the gathering of certain resources, while giving the Pangolin enhanced abilities for which stance it is in. There are three stances. Defensive, Cautious, and Offensive. The Pangolin will also have special resources it can make inside it's inventory, called "Sharpened scales". These scales can be transferred from the Pangolins inventory to the survivor and back to the Pangolin, and they have different uses and properties depending on who holds them. The Pangolin is also very good at swimming, as in real life, they make great use of their tails to swim. The Pangolin will have special options in it's radial wheel, and these will have different types of curls. You will be able to coil the Pangolin up in a sort of turret mode, where they can protect things that are within their protective embrace. Finally, the Pangolin will have a passive that is influenced by the amount of "Sharpened scales" it has in it's inventory. These scales can also be used to create special armor and weapons. These will be discussed later down, but just know, they will be made for countering corrupted creatures, and Velonasaur fire. Below, all these abilities are discussed in further detail. Stance Change: Like the Stegosaurus, using this ability will cycle through the stances of the Pangolin. The stance will be remembered for the next ride, or when unmounted. So you can have one in a Defensive stance following you, while also having one in the Offensive stance following you as well. You can also change the stance through the Radial menu when riding it if desired. Different stances will vastly alter how fast and agile the Pangolin is when running, and turning. As well as having different uses for Sharpened scales". Defensive Stance: In Defensive stance, the Pangolin will hunch over, and the rider will be completely concealed within the protective scales of the Pangolin. Preventing them from being stunned, dismounted, effected by radiation, and even preventing the elemental breaths of Wyverns, Magmasaurs, Managarmrs, and Basilisks from hurting the rider, but they will hurt the Pangolin marginally, with Poison being the best to deal with one. However, turrets will be able to hurt them a fair bit if repeated fire is sustained on them. They will be slowest in this stance. And their melee attacks will be their weakest, as they are not focused on battle per say in this state. This stance also has a secondary passive called "Hardened Scales" in which when in possession of "Sharpened Scales" they will have a passive damage reduction of up to 10% from all sources. This will also grant the Pangolin reflect damage, like a Kentro or Arthropleura. Taking enough damage will consume a "Sharpened Scale" and remove it from the Pangolin's inventory. When all scales have been used or taken from the inventory, the Pangolin will no longer recieve the "Sharpened Scales" passive, as well as the "Hardened Scales" passive. (To make it fair, the Pangolin will be UNABLE to make "Sharpened Scales" in it's inventory when in battle. And it will have a cooldown time until the Pangolin is out of battle for a time, and "Sharpened Scales" will be produced again.) This stance also has a tail attack with large knockback. Cautious Stance: In this stance, the Pangolin is in a hunched position, but the rider is more visible and vulnerable to outside sources. Including well aimed Survivor weaponry, and being able to be hit by Wyverns, Magmasaurs, Managarmrs, and Basilisks. The rider can be hit, but they will take reduced damage from Creature attacks. Survivor weaponry will not be effected if it hits the survivor right on. Meaning with the right aim, you can snipe someone out from their walking bastion. Their melee attacks will have average damage, as this is a stance both suited to defense, and offense in the same stance. The "Hardened scales passive will only be half applied in this stance. Meaning a max of 5% damage reduction will be applied with "Sharpened Scales" in it's inventory. But, this is balanced by "Sharpened Scales" now gaining a new passive, for this stance and the Offensive Stance. "Sharpened Scales" in the inventory while in Cautious and Offensive stance will provide the Pangolin with increased penetration, and increased damage by 10%. Making them good counters to both armored creatures, and saddles. Offensive stance will enhance this further. The Pangolin will be semi-fast in this stance. (A bit slower than a running Rex.) And they will be able to turn pretty easily, having quite a short turning radius. This stance also has a tail attack with medium knockback. Offensive Stance: In this stance, the Pangolin will be fully upright, exposing it's rider fully. The spikes on it's back will be on full display, and they will fully unfurl to become a threatening and intimidating display of strength. It's claws will be fully unfurled in this state too. The Pangolin will be fast enough to keep up with Rexs in this stance, and they will be able to turn in place like a Bipedal stance Spino. The "Sharpened Scales" in it's inventory will purely be used for Offense here. While losing the damage reduction from other stances, the new passive to "Hardened Scales" will be giving the Pangolin a debuff to the enemy much like the Shadowmane. The debuff will be called "Serrated!" this debuff will make it so that the creature will not be able to heal as much overtime, and they will very very slowly lose HP. Pretty much a less powerful version of the bleed effect from Gigas and Allosaurus. It will drain 1% HP every 5 seconds. (This effect will NOT work on bosses. It WILL work on tamed creatures, and wild ones however.) The "Sharpened Scales" buff will also enhance the Pangolin's attack and penetration by an additional 10%, giving it a total of 20% damage increase and penetration. This will make it quite the powerhouse if used right. But be careful. As "Sharpened Scales" are used faster in this stance, meaning you'll need more than the other two stances to keep the buffs up. This stance also has a tail attack with small knockback. The "Sharpened Scales" as items: "Sharpened Scales" are essential to the Pangolin I have created. And you can get them one of three ways. You can find them as item drops from dead Pangolins, you can knock one out to steal them from it's inventory, or you can tame a Pangolin, and have it passively create scales for you. (The higher the level, the faster they produce these scales) These scales can be used for different buffs in the Pangolin's inventory. However, they have two other uses aside from buffing our friend here. They can be placed in a survivor's inventory to reduce damage taken from all sources by 3% just the same as the Pangolin, but much weaker. Or, you can use them in a regular Smithy, or the Pangolin's Smithy saddle .(If they decide to add that.) Using "Sharpened Scales" will allow the creation of new weapons and armor, known as "Scale" items. The "Scale" armor will reduce the damage of Survivor weapons by 5%, "Scale" weapons will have increased penetration against armored foes by 5%. This cannot be buffed in any way, and there will be no blueprints for the armor / weapons. (Unless Wildcard decides to do that.) While "Scale" shields will also have the added benefit of not only being about as good as metal shields, but their durability will not go down if hit by Velonasaur spines. The same applies for Reaper Queen Spines. (Mind you, excessive amounts of "Sharpened Scales" will be needed in the construction of these items on a regular basis.) The Pangolin's "Bastion" forms: When not being ridden, the Pangolin will have a special ability in it's radial wheel. This will be called, "Bastion formation". There will be three distinct Bastion Forms. These forms will make the Pangolin enter it's "Bastion formation" of the desired type, making their body a wall, and a shield to protect whatever is within it's clutches, or whatever is behind it. This includes any and all structures that can fit within it's protective formations. (Having many Pangolins work together can act as a very formidable replacement for spike walls. And they can be used as a taming assist, keeping the creature you are taming safe from harm.) "Bastion formation: Circle": The Pangolin curls up into a ball, keeping whatever is within it's center safe from anything but aerial threats. The rider is able to mount, and dismount into the inside of the formation, incase they need to be protected from wild creatures. This can also be used to fully encircle OSDs, giving you more protection to work with. "Bastion formation: Arch": The Pangolin lays down on it's side. It's back scales will be facing whatever is trying to get through, while the Pangolins Saddle, and claws will be pointing towards what it is protecting. And it's head and tail will be bent back, forming an Arch, or triangle shape. Hence the name of the formation. This is best used in small corridors, or when you want to keep something like waves of corrupted creatures from getting to an OSD. "Bastion formation: Line": The Pangolin lays down on it's side. It's back scales will be facing whatever is trying to get through, while the Pangolins Saddle, and claws will be pointing towards what it is protecting. It's head and tail will be perfectly straight, acting as a living spike wall. It can fling it's tail back and forth to knock attackers back and damage them. This can be easily linked up with Spike Walls and other Pangolins in other Formations. This can once again be used as base defense, taming assists, or OSD defense. (If you think of any other formations, let me know! I think it's a really neat idea.) Conclusion: I worked really hard on this, and I tried being as creative as I could with it. If I have any ideas I accidentally stole, know it was on accident. I tried my best to be original in my design, and I truly hope others can see that I really believe this could be it for the Pangolin to be added. Also here are some other ideas I came up with while designing it.) Scrapped Idea 1: Feeding it Element dust would increase the production speed of "Sharpened Scales." Scrapped Idea 2: Giving it a roll attack in it's Defensive stance like the Doedicerus. Scrapped Idea 3: Having it eat sand / rocks in order to strengthen it's digestive tract, thus allowing for more powerful scales to be produced using element. Scrapped Idea 4: Having the tail attack in the Attack stance be able to reflect certain projectiles. Such as Poison Breaths from the Basilisk and the Poison Wyvern, and deflecting Velonasaur and Reaper Queen spines. Hoping to see Smutsia Titanus in the top 10! Good Luck to all participating submissions! Sincerely: Jade
  9. Pangolins can live in a bunch of different places. Such as forests, cave systems, tropical climates, deserts, and thick brushes. They can live basically anywhere there is ample enough food. And with Aberration, food is not that big of an issue for a any animal really. So I'd say it's a pretty good candidate.
  10. I didn't realize this would be submitted to this sub-submission. Any and all ideas I had I swear I did not try and steal. I legitamately tried to think purely original concepts for the Pangolin. So I'm sorry if I inadvertedly took somebody else's idea.
  11. I would have pictures, but this computer isn't working when I try. Just look up a Pangolin if you want to see what I'm talking about. It's a relative of the mongoose apparently.
  12. "Dossier: Smutsia Titanus is a creature unlike any other I have encountered thus far in terms of natural defense. Their unique scales are one of the only materials I've observed to have a natural resistance to nameless venom, and the Reaper by proxy. A titan by normal Pangolin standards, these species have evolved drastically in size due to the constant intake of radiation. Their armored scales mitigating the negative effects within their genetic builds, granting them immense power in many different ways!" "Wild: In the wild, Smutsia displays curiosity for many things. A survivor can most of the time walk up to Smutsia without worry. As they are innately friendly towards creatures smaller than itself. However, should larger or aggressive creatures roam about their turf, they will turn into aggressive walking fortresses. They are especially adapted to dealing with Reapers and their nameless entourigues. Their armored scales harboring resistance, while their claws and sharp plates act as penetrating blades, sharp enough to pierce their armor without the use of chargelight!" "Tamed: Between Smutsia’s different ways of using it’s scales and innate strengths, Smutsia can quickly become a survivors most dangerous threat, and certainly one of your most indispensable allies. Their scales can also be used to create special shields. They are as strong as any natural metal, with a genetic code that enhances their effectiveness against the many nameless and Reapers that reside within this Hellscape." ========================================================================================================================= Size: I'd say about the size of a Trike at minimum, and an Allosaurus at maximum size. That way it's not just another... "Ohh...Big dino...Ohh...Big = Strong. Ohh..." I want this dino to be a little pint-sized powerhouse. At least in Aberration's standards. Saddle location: The saddle I imagine would be much like a Gacha. With the rider being impervious to all effects when the Pangolin is in it's defensive stance. But being able to be harmed through various means if in either of it's other two stances. The Saddle can also function as a Smithy. As the only creature on Aberration with this ability is the Beaver. However, it will not have weight reduction, since it will be mainly battle-oriented. Both defensive wise, and offense. Early, Mid, or Late Game Creature?: I'd say that I'd like the Pangolin to be a late game creature. As I have designed it to counter one of the strongest creatures in the game from what I've experienced. You can tame it earlier, but it would be really risky. Plus, you'd need lots of gems, which don't come easy. ========================================================================================================================= Abilities: (Hardened Scales: Passive) "You are protected by thick scales!" While riding the Pangolin, you will be protected from a myriad of different effects. Such as stuns, dismounts, toxic vapors from Wyverns and Basilisks, Radiation, Leeches, Lampreys, and a passive damage resistance to any Reaper or nameless enemy. Whether it be an ally Reaper's friendly fire, an Enemy Reaper, and Wild ones too. This passive would also increase all damage done to Reapers and nameless, while also granting it piercing damage. Making it one of the only creatures able to fight a Reaper and such without the use of chargelight. These scales also make it so that it is insanely hard to knock out. As it would take a lot to fell a walking Bastion. The scales will also passively reduce the damage of Velonasaur turret form damage. Making them able to soak damage from Velonasaurs. Explosions and fire are one of the only things that can reliably hurt a Pangolin. And if they take too much damage in a short time, they will have the Hardened Scales passive disabled for a period of time. They will have to be out of battle in order to recover this passive. Think of it like the opposite of a Giga's rage. Where they get stronger, the Pangolin gets weaker. Too much damage will result in the Pangolin being much less effective in battle. There is only so much a suit of armor can take before it needs to be repaired. Hence, why strategic battling can massively benefit the Pangolin's combat prowess. (Shed Scales: Passive) When tamed, the Pangolin will passively create shed scales in it's inventory. Much like Desmodeus Draculae, you can use these scales to create special armor, weapons, and more specifically shields. The armor and weapons are high hopes, as it would be nice to see more weapons and armor in the game, however, I think a shield that is specifically made to counter Reapers acid and tail attacks could be really interesting. The shield would give reduced knockback from all tail attacks, not just Reapers. This would apply to the Carcharodontosaurus, as well as the Pangolin's own tail attack. The shield would also would take no damage from any of the Reaper's corrosive spines or globs of acid when fired from it's tail. It would also be immune to the Shadowmane's thornmail debuff. (Special Passive: Burrow / Mine) The Pangolin when tamed is able to bury itself like a Basilisk or Reaper, but it can take this one step further. No matter where, if they are above suitable ground, they can become buried. They can then be set to passively collect the various Gems that reside is Aberration. With more dangerous areas granting more Gems, and rarer qualities. In the Green Zone, they would be able to get small amounts of Green Gems, with a very rare chance for Blue Gems. In the Blue Zone, they would be able to mine for medium amounts of Green and Blue Gems. With a very minimal chance of getting Red Gems. And if stationed within the Red Zone, they are able to gather Large quantities of Green and Blue Gems, while getting little - medium harvests of Red Gems. They can also be set to burrow for stone, flint, and metal. With it's damage stat influencing the amount gained. When mining, it's normally not very visible underground state, will instead be clouded with dust clouds, with gems flying out of it. Making it a dead giveaway. That way PVP players can force it out with explosives or fire. (Semi-aquatic: Passive) The Pangolin in real life is stated to be able to swim fair distances. And since Aberration is full of water, both normal and daedly elemental streams, they should be able to at least swim semi-good. The Hardened Scales passive could also serve as a way to traverse the Elemental Streams that reside at the radioactive area. Mind you, it would still take damage, just not as much as other creatures. That way it's not completely able to counter all of the dangers in the Red zone. (Attack 1: Claw swipe.) The Pangolin will swipe with it's sharp claws alternatively switching from right claw to left claw and back, like a Ferox. (Attack 2: Tail swipe.) The Pangolin swipes with it's large, armored tail. Sending foes flying a 'short - medium' distance, and having a slight cooldown. This effect will also be able to reflect projectiles, such as Reaper spines, and even Basilisk venom. (Attack 3: Stance Change - Defensive) The Pangolin being covered in hard scales ain't just for show. These creatures will be able to switch between 3 different modes, much like the Stego. The first stance will be defense oriented. The Pangolin will take reduced damage from all sources by 10%. The Pangolin also moves the slowest in this stance, as they are low to the ground, but also immune to all types of rider impairment. The rider is also encased within the Pangolin's tanky exterior. Much like the Andrewsarchus saddle, the rider is immune to nearly everything and anything. Making this a good taming assist for numerous reasons. The Pangolin can also stand still and turn. Much like a Spino in it's bipedal stance. They are also able to use their secondary attack to become a more controllable version of the Roll-Rat's rolling attack. It would be pretty slow, but is extremely good at getting places safely. Given you have the stamina for it. It's turning radius would also be the widest in this form. The rider would be UNABLE to use weaponry in this stance. (Attack 4: Stance Change - Gather) The Pangolin relaxes it's muscles, allowing the Rider to be seen and harmed by players and environmental hazards. In this stance, the Pangolin excels at gathering three main resources. Nameless Venom, Thatch, and Meat. The Pangolin is able to use both it's tail attack, and claw attacks, but at a faster rate than in defensive stance. Their roll attack is faster, and has a sharper turning radius. The rider can used ranged and melee weaponry in this stance. This includes firearms. (Attack 5: Stance Change - Offensive) The Pangolin tenses up, rearing up to it's full height. It's claws fully unfurled, and their scales fully displayed. The player is the most vulnerable in this stance, as explosions can severely damage anyone within the saddle in the Offensive stance. Players are also easily able to be hit by ranged weaponry, as they are not concealed within the Pangolin's armor. The Pangolin is able to run quite fast in this stance, their roll attack is as fast as can be, and it's turn radius is sharp as can be, turning on a dime essentially. Their claw attacks in this stance pierce Reaper's natural defenses, and penetrates anything of this like. Including Saddle armor, and the Stego's damage mitigation stance. The rider is able to wield weaponry in this stance. Their tail attack also applies a short bleed. Having a longer cooldown in this form. They also have thorns in this stance. Like the Arthropleura and Kentro, anything that attacks them in this stance will damage themselves by a portion of the damage dealt. 5% of the damage sounds pretty fair to me. However, if the Hardened Scales passive is disabled, this thorn damage is disabled as well. ========================================================================================================================= Taming: They are highly curious creatures, and as such, they are tamed non-violently. They are friendly to anything smaller than themselves, are cautious around creatures the same size, and become aggressive when confronted by something larger than them. Such as a Rock Drake or Karkinos. And don't even get me started if you have a Reaper. They hate Reapers more than anything. Anyway, they will be tamed using a unique method. Have a creature on passive and place it near the Pangolin. The Pangolin will start to gather around your tame. At this point, nothing should happen. But, place a few Gems in the creatures inventory, and suddenly, the Pangolin will start to circle your creature. Looking for an oppurtunity to take the shiny prizes for itself. They love shiny items, so the lustrious gems of Aberration are one of it's favorite prizes of choice. When the Pangolin decides it's ready to take the Gems, it will slash at your creature, but not harming it. Instead, it will take the Gems from the dino's inventory, and start to burrow once it has walked a few feet away from your creature. Then , it will resurface, and start the process again. During this time, it is important to keep large creatures away, as if the Pangolin feels threatened, they will lose all taming effectiveness. Using food during this process will also help to tame it faster. As when it takes gems, it won't deny the chance to get some free food out of it too! So throw in some meat, and it'll be sure to help it build some trust with you! The rarer the meat, the more of a boost the gems will have. However, Nameless Venom is this thing's favorite treat. Having just one of these in your dino's inventory will make it so that the Pangolin more quickly decides to take some loot. It will also help to keep taming effectiveness at maximum. Making Nameless Venom the best way to tame these beasts. Nameless Venom is also an item that they would request if bred. Making Nameless Venom pretty essential in the raising of these bad boys. Breeding: Pangolin breeding is a bit unique too. As you will need various amounts of gems in the male Pangolin in order to gain the respect and mating rites to his mate. The higher the Pangolin's level, the more gems you will need in order to enact breeding rites. The Female will need to be holding at LEAST one food item. The more you have the better, as they will want to make sure to take care of their babies once they are born. They will have a special mate boosted ability, where the female Pangolin can carry a baby or two on her tail and back. Much like real Pangolins do. Ensuring the baby's safety, while also providing a safe way to traverse the baby from place to place. ========================================================================================================================= Final Thoughts: I have been wanting to submit this for a while now. I thought that a Pangolin could make for a literal perfect candidate for Aberration's subterranean biome. They burrow, are able to swim pretty far, and are able to defend themselves from far larger predators due to their scales and defensive capabilities. If anybody can think of anything better for this guy, don't be afraid to go on and say something. I thought of most of this stuff for a while. Tell me what you guys think. I think overall I'm really happy with the direction I took this guy. So I'm really hoping that people see this. I put a lot of thought into this. Sincerely: Jade.
  13. I was wondering if there are going to be redesigns in ARK: Survival Ascended. And this goes for every creature in the game. But the ones I'm specifically talking abput are the Wyverns in Scorched Earth. Ever since Wyverns came out, they've been my favorite creatures in Ark. But...they've always been missing something to me. Mainly, how derpy they look for being "Wyverns". Except the Ice Wyvern. The Ice Wyvern actually looks pretty good to me. But the Lightning Wyvern, and the Fire Wyvern in particular look pretty derpy to me. As compared to the original concept art at least. (If you haven't seen it, it's really f***ing cool looking.) I'm not sure if anyone else agrees with me, but the Lightning, Fire, and basic Crystal Wyverns don't look intimidating in the slightest. The Crystal Wyvern Queen however does look intimidating because of the skull it wears. The Poison Wyvern has the frills. The Ice Wyvern has Shards of Ice growing on it's body. The Voidwyrm (As useless as it is in PVE...) is a Robotic Wyvern. That's badass. The Lightning, Fire, and Crystal Wyverns just don't have anything like that to me. Sure, the Fire Wyvern has spikes, but they look like they are the horns and spikes of a Wyvern that never really grew into them. And the Lightning Wyvern has the "Fins" growing along it's back, but it just doesn't look all that good. If it covered more of the body, then it could look pretty cool. Plus, the triangular jaw structure of the lightning Wyvern always struck me as a bit odd. My suggestion is to have more Fins along it's body and along it's tail. Maybe have some spikes on it and have the fins intertwine between the spikes. That way it looks a bit more natural, instead of having it be one continuous strand of fins. And not having horns adds to the derpy look. Having fins underneath horns connected to the skull can add to it's look, and make it look intimidating in my opinion. Almost like frills but a little bit more fantasy looking. And this doesn't go for just Wyverns too. Rock Elementals always looked a little bit derpy to me too. And especially the Phoenix. For the thing only spawning once a map, it doesn't look like much at all. The Snow Owl looks better in every way. A redesigned Phoenix could look really cool in Unreal Engine 5. Especially if they add more avian features to it. Bigger wings could help with it. As Phoenix's usually have massive wings from what I see. As well as having a bigger stature. A One spawn creature shouldn't be as small as a Raptor if you ask me. Maybe I'm just being nit-picky. But I do believe that creature redesigns can make fan favorite creatures better in every way. Hell, it can make useless creatures become useful in some ways too. Maybe even new animations and abilities too. Since all flying creatures in the game have this extremely stale flying animation to me. They all fly perfectly straight. There's no weight, no bounce, and no indication of air resistance. There should be some bounce to them every time they flap their wings. It would add character to the creatures in the game, as well as giving each one a unique animation. Such as making the Wyvern have an animation in flight where when it flaps it's wings, it bobs up and down. It would give weight to it. It is a relative of the Dragon after all. And with some of the lighter flyers, there could be intervals in the animation where the wings just rest, like when the Griffin or the Snow Owl pull up from the glide. Same with the Wyvern. If you go in a straight line on a horizontal axis for a time, this gliding animation could do wonders for personality with the respective creature. Imagine seeing Wyverns fly through the air with their wings fully stretched out. Seeing the shadows on the ground would be straight out of a movie. Plus, if they wanted to go all out with this, they could have the idle flying animation have some veering to it. Or have the creature looking around. It would be a small visual adjustment, but like I said before, it would add character to the creatures. I know I'm probably being petty and I should just be happy with what I got, but I want Wyverns to be what they are. "Intimidating" beasts of power. I would maybe like to see what others think of my opinions. Sincerely: Jade, a solo survivor.
  14. So does this mean player dedicated servers will finally be available on PS4 and PS5, and XBOX for Genesis 1 and 2, Fjordur, and Crystal Isles? Player dedicated servers haven't been a thing since those maps were released. I'm not sure how to reply on this forum, but I mean on ARK 1. And if not, I really hope they have player dedicated servers on ASA. I'm so sick of that cursed host barrier on Non-dedicated servers ruining everything I try to do with my friends.

  16. Will there ever be dedicated servers for Genesis 1 and 2, Fjordur, and Crystal Isles? On PS4 specifically? I REALLY want to host servers without paying for them, especially when I have two systems just to host them in the first place. I would love to know if they are being worked on, or if they have been abandoned. Please, I just want to know if we will ever get dedicated servers on console. Genesis one has been out for two years nearly, and Genesis 2 has been out for nearly a whole year, if not already. And sure, Fjordur just came out, but I would really like to see some love for people like me who just want to host small servers.
  17. SExcuse me wildcard, but will the Elusive Doctored be on the PS4 this year at all? Because I've tried countless times to get it, but to no avail. And yes I know it's only on events.
