  1. This is precisely my issue. Unfortunately this is W/C's M.O. They won't release ANY information that has potential to damage their sales. They are slimy, greedy people who are purely profits oriented. They have NO problem selling broken products to people on the basis that its a "working strategy". In this case they knew full well how bad the backlash from the community would be when they found out they were being railroaded into spending more money or going home empty handed. So why make that announcement before the BIG release? Wait for the dust to settle, collect their shillings and move on. We can only hope the backlash is bad enough to effect their bottom line, in which case a change would be made. Historically speaking this is how they have operated. It really is a shame such a neglectful group of people stumbled onto such a gem of a game concept. Sometime I wonder what this game could have been like if left in charge by people who had a clue.
  2. I wonder how many communities will be blocked from hosting their own games, and forced to stick with ASE. I'm reading comment after comment from people saying they won't buy this until there is a reasonable option for private hosting. I am one of them. Though I am disappointed W/C would allow such harm to an entity that has generated so much success (private hosting community), I am not at all surprised. I have been involved with ARK since its original release. Where it really counts the developers and publishers have proven to me time and time again, that supporting the gaming community with quality well thought out content is NOT their priority. Rather selling what they can, when they can, no matter how broken it is. You can thank the creative gaming community for the success ARK had. I don't know what you did wrong to create a situation where small communities can not host this game, but if you don't find a better way forward I can not imagine the new game will have anywhere NEAR the same success. Just take a look through your steam page for ASE, do you see ANY other games on that platform with the same level of community engagement? Private hosting was the reason for this. Don't turn your backs on us. Our community will just stick to ASE until we hear further word on this issue.
  3. I have been hosting ARK ASE since 2016 for our community. I won't be buying this game until we know that we will be allowed to host it. I will not be paying Nitrado for anything. Also we don't have anywhere near 10k active members. If we have to apply for a server license we won't meet the requirements. If they don't open up DS files to private hosters, they are killing this game before it starts.
