  1. So I've been playing a singleplayer ASE world, mainly Ragnarok. I have Small Bosses, Structures Plus, Simple Spawners, Awesome Spyglass, and Dino Storage v2. The tek dedicated storage tekgram is just gone. I do not have the server set to allow only specified engrams, so it's not that. My previous character had all bosses from Island to Ab, so I definitely had it unlocked. I could make an S+ tek dedi, but it doesn't work with my Stryders. I picked up a normal tek dedi that I had placed previously, intending to use it temporarily, only to find I couldn't place it. It would show up green, but wouldn't actually place. Thinking my character might be glitched, I remade my character, but noticed that in the locked tekgrams... the tek dedi was STILL missing. This wouldn't be such a headache if the S+ tek dedi worked with stryders, but it doesn't. DILO am I doing wrong?? For debugging purposes, I tried loading a brand new save of the Island with the same mod loadout, and made a new character. The tek dedicated storage engram was gone then, too. Then, I tried opening a brand new Island save without any of the mods, and made a new character. Tekgram still missing, and upon killing the alpha dragon, I saw text saying that I had learned the tek dedicated storage engram... but it still wasn't in my engram list! Considering this happened when I didn't have mods loaded, I'm convinced it's not my mods. This happened after I had verified all my game files not that long ago as well Please. Any help is appreciated. This has been plaguing me for like a week and I can't find answers or even people complaining of a similar problem anywhere...
  2. The existence of people is not "expressing views." The existence of LGBTQA+ people is not political. The existence of people who need abortions is not political. LGBTQA+ people, people who have had abortions, so on, so forth, have always existed, even if historians erase them in your sanitized schooling. The people who want to stomp these minorities out, hide them, or are "uncomfortable" with/"offended" by them are the ones who make it political. You are the one making this a problem. Why do people existing upset you? By the way, you might want to read the ARK Explorer Notes. They've supported all this "stuff" you "find offensive" since the beginning.
  3. They were likely adults that they unclaimed, since it sounds like it's unofficial. They likely grew before they were noticed and when they attempted to kill with griffin, they fought back since babies grow up automatically set on "attack your target." (Official ORP PVP, Ragnarok) Worked on raising the new giga baby some more. She can now stay out overnight properly. Spent most of today online just replenishing raw meat/berry reserves. Still need more dodos before I can properly move to basic kibble for baby food. I made a huge batch of fresh cryos so tomorrow, I'm going to gather a bunch of mejos and go on another dodo taming spree. Once that's through, I plan to go to Extinction for element farming as well, since the giga can be left alone for long periods of time now. Tek dedis here I come! I really need to get back onto bullet farming... I also intend to go back into SP some and test out some build ideas. Honestly I'm at a point where I'm just kind of working on a whole slew of random stuff lol.
  4. (Official ORP PVP, Ragnarok) Last time, I wrote about how I finished gathering all artifacts needed to summon the bosses. This time, I tell you that I have been hard at work breeding and raising boss fighters for said boss fight. Alpha Dragon and Manticore, I'm coming for you! I also have been hard at work trying to find gigas. Bullets and building the base better is great and all, but I need teeth, to use and to breed. Finding high levels has sucked. There is nothing else to describe it with. I decided to forfeit that venture and asked around for people selling or trading any. I didn't want anything spectacular to breed with, honestly, anything with 30+ points in melee or health would have been fantastic. Ended up scoring one with a fantastic melee instead. I had to work for it for sure, and the giga in question was a baby, but it was totally worth it. Only 1 mutation, it's mainly red, and fantastic melee stat. However, I decided that I really didn't want to risk losing this baby. So... I decided that instead of feeding berries and raw meat to my important babies, I wanted to try upgrading to just using basic kibble. So I went on a dodo taming mission. Then another. Then another. Long story short, I've got way too many dodos to count now, and they make eggs like crazy. I also got some dilophosaurs since I had been meaning to start breeding those anyway to stand guard in the base. I have been gathering eggs a lot and making basic kibble as I go and using that to feed the giga baby. I haven't been raising anything else from tiny baby stage in the meantime, everything else is juvenile and above, so that's been that. Once the giga can be left alone for 4+ hours, I am going to go to Extinction to grind some more Element so I can get some more tek dedicated storages going, which will make bullet farming way easier since I'll actually have somewhere to keep stuff. Vaults seem so cumbersome and just... not worth having imo. They're so big and bulky for how (in my opinion, the humble packrat I am) little they hold. I tested in SP with where I wanted these new tek dedis to go for optimum bullet farming potential and liked it. I may also try to farm more materials to expand the greenhouse... berry farming near my base isn't fantastic and I want to get some mejoberry and narcoberry crops going. I theoretically could just take some argies and travel farther from my base to where there are denser populations of bushes, but I think it might be more beneficial for someone who does so much breeding like me to use crop plots, since they passively gain berries over time, constantly. While I have been waiting on giga baby to grow, I did breed a bunch of tames. Cryo'd babies or picked up the eggs of them all just before they hatched so that once I have bigger basic kibble reserves I can use it to raise them out of baby stages. Thinking I need more dodos..., and a bigger kibble farming ramp thing. I just have one layer of ramping right now and have run out of space, so I may make another layer with more dodos on that. I have also, however, met a new friend on the server. We have been helping one another out a lot and trading often and I am really liking them a lot. I think I may have a real unofficial alliance in this tribe... which has been an odd experience for me. My people skills can be a little lacking and I tend to keep to my hermit bubble in the desert so I don't have to deal with them, but I have been talking a little more and being kinder to people to try to earn myself some allies and it has clearly worked out in my favor. However, the old alpha of this CA's Ragnarok recently returned, and has also been interesting... In fact, it seems like quite a few old players recently returned. I may not be super involved in the politics of this cluster all the time, but I am very curious to see how this turns out.
  5. I have a 4.4k weight argy. You will never be able to farm with anything else ever again 😂
  6. (Official ORP PVP) Today, I got tired of just constantly breeding/feeding babies and grinding bullets and decided to tackle a few caves to blow some steam and have some fun. Life's Labyrinth, did the right path, everything was fine until the boss room... couldn't get the bosses to spawn and the barrier was still up nonetheless. Tried to just walk through it, because usually when that happens, you can just phase through the barrier, but that didn't work either. Oh well, I only needed the Artifact of the Clever anyway, but still would have been nice to grab those last two artifacts as well. I do love the atmosphere of this cave, though! Also, the thyla is a lifesaver in here. Bring a cryo'd one in and you're set. It can walk through a pretty significant part of the right path. Jungle Dungeon, pretty much just spammed grappling hooks, arthros did break a lot of my armor though so by the end i was running around naked. That was definitely panic and adrenaline-inducing, lol, but I made it out of there with the Artifact of the Hunter! Frozen Dungeon, again, took a thyla and made it through pretty easily. I had my brother join me on this one for the Iceworm Queen because I wasn't sure if my thyla could handle it alone. His thyla wasn't imprinted so I stuck an ascendant saddle on it. We both survived with hardly a scratch! Artifact of the Pack - acquired. Artifact of the Devourer was also acquired today. I took a sarco and just swam out there to it. I waited until the tusos were far enough away from it that I could skirt in and snatch it and then leave without having to deal with any of them. I don't have anything really in the way of water tames aside from a single sarco and baryonyx - I had no interest in tangoing with a tuso lol. So now, the goal shifts to raising the baby bossers and gathering the rest of the trophy items. I am concerned about the tuso tentacle requirement for the alpha Rag boss though... 25. I still don't really know how I even intend to fight 1 tuso, much less enough for 25 tentacles. Oof. I'll need to do research on that, big time. But the goal is within the next 2 weeks to take on the Ragnarok Arena (Alpha) with a team of therizinos, daeodons, and a yuty.
  7. (Official PVP ORP) Not only did I get all of my cryos back, but another tribe said that they ended up with some fertilized eggs of mine after some battling with the griefers who attacked me, babies of some animals that died in the fire (lol it was a raid but I'll just call it 'the fire' from now on), and was willing to give them back. So now I have some eggs that are guaranteed to be good and be exactly what I need, so that's fantastic! These people also gave me plenty of pointers and since then, my base has received even more upgrades. It's bullet farming days here in the future as well as some minor interior QOL repairs - such as crafting myself a ton of empty cryos, because while I got all my tames in cryos back, I had no idea how many spare cryos I had and didn't want to ask for those back since they were going through the trouble of giving me my tames. So, tomorrow I'll probably make a ton of cryos, some cryofridges, and then bullets, bullets, bullets. Did some testing in singleplayer as well to try to replicate what the raiders did on a mockup of my rebuilt/better base to see if it would stand up to an assault, and it did. Obviously, more experienced raiders than me could probably break it faster or what have you, but next time I intend to be ready to defend as well rather than just cower and hope for the best. In between bullet farming, I have a tame list to get started on. I need to start breeding velonas again and I want to tame microraptors, pegos, and in general, any annoying small creatures I can get my hands on. Maybe onyc, maybe titanoboas, maybe troodons, I have no idea, but something smallish and tranquilizing to keep in the base on aggressive. Onyc I figure could be good since they shred armor and can hit players on mounts. Quite a few yuty babies survived the fire so I have an extraordinary kibble farm still and I have plenty of ovis in cryos fully leveled in health ready for slaughter (since I think Onyc take just raw mutton). Dimorphs could be fun, just for poops and giggles, maybe set them to follow some of the turret velonas on aggressive as well (1. to hopefully clean up any dead animals they kill so they dont starve themselves trying to shoot corpses and 2. again, can hurt players off of tames). I dunno, I will probably have lots of time to kill while I wait for wood and metal to smelt, so I'll just go out with my high stam fire wyvern and look for Annoying Small Tames(TM). I'll also be searching for gigas, but I swear, the ARK gods hate me there, because in many years on this Ragnarok map and constant visits to the dunes of the desert, I've seen like 5 gigas total and they've never been over level 95. The gigas I had in the past that were high level all came from the Center but also the idea of transferring for taming a giga that may never spawn and having to leave extraordinary kibble on another map is agonizing. I'll sweep and raze the desert, highlands, and near the green ob until hopefully some high levels spawn. Oh, right, I need to go tame more bees though, since they starved earlier last week... agh... Though in other news, my newly raised and imprinted thyla and managarmr that survived the fire, I took both out for a spin to get some levels and things, and I love them both. Tbh, I'm still not entirely sure what the craze for the mana is outside of pvp, because while it's fast and fun to ride, it doesn't get hide as well as my thyla nor meat as fast as my wyvern (plus it eats a ton of it through the massive uses of stamina!), etc etc... Though I know it can be used on Aberration and that sounds super useful. Ah well, it's a fun tame and as aforementioned, clearly useful for PVP, so I'm still glad to have raised it and to breed them in the future. The thyla will be useful for hide farming as well as caving. I dunno. Lots of future plans. All I did today was gather metal and crystal. Antimesh teleported me around like I was Goku with Instant Transmission for a while because I was farming crystal in a cave in the Ragnarok desert and apparently my head poked too far into the ceiling or something, I dunno, lol. Can't have poop in Detroit the desert. Anyway, until next time!
  8. Remember how I said I was attacked and all cryos stolen? Well, as it would turn out, a friendly to me tribe found all of my podded dinos on some enemies! My base has already received significant upgrades and I've been given all my cryo'd dinos back. Only my dimorph and iguanodon lines, which I had barely started, are entirely gone. The rest have been salvaged! Theris included. I've also started working again finally (stupid pandemic) and so I'm doing a lot better, so I'm finding grinding to not be as annoying, even enjoying seeing all those materials come together and the heaps of progress I've made just in the last few days. The ARK gods were looking out for me that day, even if it didn't seem like it. Ultimately, they didn't gain anything from raiding me and I've learned a lot from the attack. Onward and upward! What a game.
  9. I'll admit, today was a dark day. I don't have that much pvp experience and I grossly underestimated the griefers that attacked me unprovoked, and then I panicked. Although most of my base survived - it's ORP after all - they killed all of my animals that weren't in the upper baby floor aside from a couple argies and stole everything else that was in the cryofridges. I learned several valuable lessons today despite the tragedy of it all, and am already repairing and rebuilding. They didn't kill off all my lines so I'm not starting from zero and most of the interior survived. Honestly, I'm not that upset. Definitely not happy about it, but such is life. I'm taking a break to spend some time with SO here shortly but later tonight I intend to use the new griffin I tamed to get a wyvern and hatch it. The sooner I get that, the sooner everything goes back to normal. Then I'm going to work and focus very, very hard on base defense, because I grew complacent and shafted base upgrades in lieu of breeding recently, especially with the breeding event. Of course, breeding means nothing if you can't keep said breeders protected. Cruelty is the way ARK teaches, though, so... Lesson learned and I look forward to rebuilding.
  10. Evo breeding event!!! Thank you! ? IRL is so hard right now and working on my breeding lines is one of my favorite ways to wind down, but having to farm so much less food/make progress faster is always welcome!
  11. take a shot every time someone says rates are 1x because they get 1 rock when they pick up a stone off the ground challenge you'll die but hey
  12. Today, the baby pile. lol this is all I've been doing today. I thought I'd show this because I thought they looked funny. I whipped them all into this blob so they'd stop batting me around with their glitchy tails while I was trying to get to the actual tiny babies that still need to be hand fed.
  13. Haven't posted in a while and honestly, that's because I haven't had much to say. I'm in the really grindy phase, not that that bothers me, but still. Breeding therizinos, dimoprhs, thylas, velonas, manas, daeodons, yutys. Started breeding iguanodons as well - mostly for fun though, tbh. Keeping decent relations with everyone so far. I stay in my corner everyone leaves me alone lol. Got some tek stuff going as well. Hoping to start regularly battling bosses for element starting November, but who knows. Goal is to get an operation going on Genesis or Aberration come 2021. Until then, though... typical smooth sailing. Breeding therizinos has been really fun and exciting though. It's official so getting them out of baby stage is a bit of a pain but after that... Man, it's been rewarding watching my initial 4 therizinos bloom into the fairly massive project they are now. It may just be the quarantine and the ADHD talking, but working on them consistently throughout the days of the week makes me really happy. Anyway, that's all I gotta say for now tbh.
  14. ... I literally saw several moderators saying that with new base rates it doesn't increase the number of stones you get. Evo events do this, yes, but the base rate multiplier does not. Trust me, I wish they were paying me lol. Check this thread out and if you still wanna bitch and moan that's your problem
  15. do. not. test. rates. by picking up. stones. you always get 1 stone by hand from what I understand
  16. I have questions about Scarlett and yet I am afraid of the answers lol
  17. (Posts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6) Today's lesson that I was taught was to not get too complacent. In general, it's good to be able to keep calm under pressure, that way mistakes are lessened in the heat of the moment. However, blithe complacency can be deadly. I learned this the hard way today. I spent a lot of today in and out of the wyvern cove, diving for eggs, intending to hatch high levels and save low levels for kibble to begin taming therizinosaurs. I was doing this with my newly hatched, base 155 lightning wyvern from the last post named Queen Sinclair. This was going quite well. I had newly acquired a snow owl and every time I'd fall below a certain threshold of health, I'd circle the cavern to lose some wyverns on my tail and then swoop out of the cave. However, on my last run, I got hung on the corner and had quite the few wyverns behind me. In my panic, realizing I was going to die if I didn't do something, I dove down. I dove too far down and hit water. Queen Sinclair flew off back into the cave while I was swimming for my life. I whistled for her to follow, and jumped back on her... just in time for her to die to a poison wyvern. I was able to come back and retrieve my cryo'd snow owl and the rest of my belongings on Nightfall the griffin, but it was bittersweet at best. I was waiting on my other lightning I recently hatched, Tulip Rose, to finish raising and then I was going to retire Queen Sinclair to cryo until I could clone her, and then I'd just use the clones and/or other lightnings for general use. Sadly, that will not be the case. My new plan for egg diving is to get a lightning wyvern leveled in sheer health, some stam, and melee, preferably more health, to just tank and destroy all the wyverns in the cove and then swoop back in and gather the eggs left behind--and one that isn't event colors. Tulip Rose isn't event colored and is higher level than Queen Sinclair was, so I'm going to try to do more egg diving with her in the future, and be much more careful and mindful of my surroundings. I should not have tried to exit the cove with that many wyverns on my tail - I should have turned and lost some before attempting my exit. I had the stamina. I am very sad to say we have had to say goodbye to Queen Sinclair today (Lightning Wyvern), but we did welcome quite a few new faces: Linkin Park (Poison Wyvern), Symbiote (Poison Wyvern), Tulip Rose (Lightning Wyvern), Calico (Therizinosaur), and Heartbreaker (Yutyrannus). The goal is now to get Tulip Rose grown and continue diving for eggs, continue making extraordinary kibble using low level wyvern eggs and yuty eggs, and tame more high level therizinos (Calico didn't have any spectacular stats after taming). Learn from my mistakes guys, don't get complacent, pay attention, and quite frankly, just don't use anything you aren't ready to lose. ?‍♂️
  18. (Posts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) Last few days have just been locating and taming more yutyrannus as well as working on getting another lightning wyvern. Unfortunately, Remus can be counted as a casualty, and not through any fault of our own. I had forgotten I had broken some rocks within my base's perimeter and I parked him on top of where they would respawn after coming back from yuty taming. When I logged in the next day... Plenty of rocks, but no Remus. This is a bug that has been going on for a while that I had sadly forgotten about. Rest in peace, Remus, you will be missed. However, perhaps Remus dying and forcing me to look for a new lightning wyvern wasn't such a bad thing.... Meet Queen Sinclair! I absolutely ADORE her. Not only is she a far better level than Remus (level 155 compared to level 100) but she has these glorious event colors. A fully event colored decent leveled wyvern!! I am honestly strongly considering against even using her as a main wyvern and going to find yet another lightning with my griffin to use as my main source of travel/egg stealing. I could probably get away with stealing eggs with her for a while, but between lag and the fact some asshat has build turrets next to the scar on Ragnarok, I'm not sure if I want to... I honestly just want to cryo her and save her for cloning. Regardless, I'm very happy with her and very much look forward to her all grown up! Other than that, I have tamed two other junk female yutys for egg-laying purposes, named Dragonair and Death Valley. Dragonair had cool greens and blues as far as event colors go, though, so I'm pretty stoked to have discovered her. I actually noticed her on accident while scurrying back home with Queen Sinclair's egg. Outside of that, I have just been doing a lot of resource grinding, working on bettering the crafting areas and such. Nothing much to report there. Today, we welcome Queen Sinclair (Lightning Wyvern), Dragonair (Yutyrannus), and Death Valley (Yutyrannus) to the fold! Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Remus (Lightning Wyvern) yesterday... Better times ahead.
  19. (Posts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) Yesterday, I had some good progress. I tamed a thorny dragon - her name is Katara, like the ATLA character (although... I don't know why I was reminded of her by a thorny dragon... but I digress) - and hammered out tons of gunpowder. Also made tons of paste with the asinine amount of chitin I had everywhere and then started working on a perimeter of the base. Someone had started to build nearby and I was getting a little nervous about their presence, but then... Alas, they had a raft and drove it too close to my base. They and their two parasaurs were shot down and they didn't have a bed at the little thatch base, just on the raft. I grabbed what looked useful to them as noobs from their raft and bodies, took a dermis of the parasaurs and the players, made them a new raft, and ferried the stuff over to them. Told them it'd be best if they built elsewhere and they have. Sometimes sewing seeds of good deeds is a good idea, yknow? Especially as a solo. I did something similar with a solo player the other day. I am hoping this means in the future they will have goodwill toward me if they stick around. They aren't threats to me right now nor could they pose much threat to anyone, really, but allies are always welcome. I've also been taking advantage of the 3x breeding to raise some Ovis. Usually, they are far too much of a pain on 1x settings to raise for mutton, but as I've been mostly working in/next to the base anyway, getting these 10 or so babies up and growing wasn't hard. If I had something better than an equus to gather berries, it'd be even faster, but I don't mind dealing with the equus for now. They finished today and by killing one, I managed to nab three yutyrannus - granted, they are all low level as they are for egg farming, but still. Had I been smart and ran back to base to cook the rest, I'd have probably gotten another few out of it. Of course, I think the yutys were hiding today, because aside from the few I tamed, I saw none. I killed things and killed things and killed things but just... nope. I did end up getting a few pretty event equus out of it, but those and the three yutys are all I have to show for the day's efforts. The idea is next time I play to tame even more yutys -- I want a lot, like 10-15 females -- and then get the rest of the stuff going I need to make extraordinary kibble, and then it's off to find high level therizinos. While I breed them up, I'll probably just focus a lot on furthering base defense. It's passable right now but there's always room for improvement! Of course, that's the long haul. Tomorrow I'll probably just tame some more yutys and focus on repairing some gear. I am running low on usable gear... I've been very lazy about repairing. Anyway, today we welcome to the fold Katara (Thorny Dragon), Rosa, Hotwater, Lucy (Yutyrannuses... Yutyrannusi? lol), Confetti, Grayson, and Skittle (Equuses)! @Cymas I just wanted to say I am glad you are enjoying SE! I lived there for a while myself and I honestly really enjoyed the map. It just doesn't make sense for me in a PVP sense to live there anymore on my cluster, but I look forward to reading about your adventures there in SP, because it was a blast for me.
  20. (Posts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) As expected, today's events went much more smoothly. Well... smoothly as in, there was no real loss other than time. It took so long, but I finally managed to track down a lv 135 black and red event griffin. I was so excited! I nearly have it at my trap, but it loses interest and I figure that I need to get stamina anyway, so I make note of where it's at and then I land. I go back to find it and... it's vanished. I look and look and look and look and... it's just nowhere. After 30 minutes or so of fruitless searching, I admitted defeat and headed back to lure away a 130 griffin I had spotted hanging out with it. This one didn't have any notable colors but was a higher level like I wanted. I noticed that it appeared to be stuck, so I thought what the hell, I'll just knock it here. Nope... It didn't budge the entire time until I got it high enough in torpor that it started to run. Then I couldn't land anymore shots on it. Had to admit defeat and lure it back to the trap. After a grueling hour or so long struggle to get it to the trap and lure it inside, I finally manage to lock it in and knock it. So, in the end, I did get my new griffin - a paler brown with dark gray wings. Their name is Nightfall, in reference to the very first griffin I ever had on a private server between friends. I put them in cryo to gain levels. I also added tons of turrets and put some bullets in them. It's still not fantastic, but it'll definitely do for now, and eases my anxiety some while I continue to work to get set up. I think tomorrow I'm going to tame a castoroides, thorny dragon, or mammoth so getting wood is a little easier on me and then I'll just hammer away at base defense for a while. Well, I do intend to pause at some point to make sure to get a couple of backup griffins, because taming a griffin without already having one is such a pain. The griffin was mostly so I could continue to travel to SE to get silica pearls for easy, quick electronics. Note to self, though, make sure to clear out any threats long before trying to upload stuff while standing on the griffin... Anyway, today we welcome Nightfall to the fold!
  21. (Posts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) Well, to get the good days, you gotta get the bad, and today was definitely more of a bad. I've learned to quit while I'm ahead in my time on ARK, so I decided to call it quits for the night even though I definitely could keep going. I logged on and had a normal enough start to my night. Farmed some metal and decided I wanted to make electronics, so I headed to SE to whip up pearls on the back of my griffin, Saturn. Now, Saturn is not a high level griffin. Saturn is leveled strictly in stamina and was a level 25 pre-tame because I couldn't find any higher than that and it was taking too long to kill them off on my pteranodon (read first post for more about that). Anyway, I intended to get more pearls than what I had at that point, but as I was uploading what I had on my person at a drop, a direwolf attacked Saturn and my menu bugged. I was stuck in the uploading menu while the direwolf just chewed away at Saturn. I force closed, hoping that might let me log back in in time to save them... nope. Server did that fun thing where, for about 5 minutes, it still thinks I'm logged in even though I'm not. Logged back in and Saturn and I were both dead. It wasn't a huge problem, I know SE like the back of my hand and was able to get the stuff back pretty easily, but now I'm out a griffin. I think, "Oh, what the hell, I have a wyvern back on Ragnarok and a griffin trap already set. I'll just go get one real quick." Yeah. Sure. So, Dododex insists that my crossbow won't kill one, and I'm feeling lazy. I made enough tranq arrows to knock a 150 out two times over - lag and the griffin's sporadic nature have taught me to be prepared - grab narcotics and take my lightning wyvern, Remus, out to go hunt one down. My trap allows me to use the wyvern to lure them in and then I jump off and quickly shut the door, or else the griffin loses interest in the wyvern near the trap and I kite them in on foot and shut the door while they claw at me some. Of course, the area around where griffins spawn is heavily built on in this particular Ragnarok server, so I have to travel... quite the distance to spot some griffins. Eventually, I found a lv 50 and decided to kill it - but wait, suddenly there's two griffins! I kill the 50 to discover the second is a 130 that is now quite bloody from my attacks. I decide that's no problem, I'll just wait for it to heal--I've heard bringing dead things back to carnivores and letting them eats it restores their health anyhow. So, it's a long and tedious journey, but I finally get the 130 caught in the trap. I spend some time healing Remus since he was quite injured over the few hours it took me to find this griffin (also, I leveled his health up some before I set out, as he's still new). Once that was done, griffin was still bloody, so I went and got some things for it to eat. It appeared to just have a couple splotches of blood left so I gave it some more time. A couple of people with some sickness came to inspect what I was doing, they were both on their feet--I didn't want anything to do with that so I told them to back off or I'd kill them, gave them a threatening display with Remus. They seemed to get the memo and stayed away. Finally, I decided to just try and tranq the griffin and I'd just take my time and be mindful. Yeah... didn't work out. It died in the end from the shots. Wholly frustrated, I just headed back home, cryo'd the wyvern, and decided to call it a day until tomorrow. Lesson learned. Do not try to be a cheapskate. Even if Dododex swears that your crossbow won't kill things, that doesn't account for wild damage they've taken, or damage you might do to them prior to getting them trapped. Tomorrow, I'm going to make the appropriate number of darts and go find me another high level one. I could do that tonight, but my patience has worn thin and low patience is a killer in ARK. I can't afford to lose Remus and I fear that if I try to do too much more while aggravated I could somehow lose him, too. Then I'd really be up the creek without a paddle.
  22. (Posts: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) Thought I might jump back in this thread! I typically just lurk, tried posting a few times in the past and always would forget, but this time I think it'll stick and really do me some good. Quarantine may be mostly over where I am but it's not over for me and my immunocompromised mother, not to mention the everything else going on... Sigh. Anyway, without getting into all the details, let's just say I have a lot of free time nowadays. Some background for my journey through ARK. I started mostly in singleplayer and played that for about a year, then I grew bored and wanted something new. Played on private servers with a friend or two for a few months. Got bored of never being able to be online at the same time/the boosted rates, so I managed to drag said friend(s) to official ORP PVP. Have been stuck to that server cluster like glue ever since and what a wild ride it has been. It was just me and two other players for a while. I'll call this tribe SS. SS, to put it bluntly, had no idea what it was doing. SS started on Ragnarok and we didn't know where the good metal, crystal, whatever-nodes were, we didn't know how to gradually build up so we put down a huge footprint with a stone base that could have been easily broken into. Thankfully, our cluster was a pretty nice one, as long as you were a good distance from the easy spawns - which, considering we were in the desert, we were - and we had tons of people offer us advice on how to build better and so forth. Because of my busy IRL schedule, it was often one of SS's tribemates that did the brunt of the work. Thanks to their dedication, even though SS was not well put together, we lasted for quite some time in that little spot before we decided to move and build a proper metal base elsewhere. SS moved to a metal base along the desert shores of Ragnarok. We had a good amount of turrets and plant X for a while there. Things were going well, but SS suffered from a lot of internal drama (me and the one member of SS that did most of the work disagreed a lot. I will not demonize them; they had valid reasons to disagree with my behavior, and I believe I had valid reasons to disagree with theirs. We were just very incompatible people). The third SS tribemember was family of the one I disagreed with and they didn't play much anyways, so they were not often there to defuse the tension (not that I'm even sure they'd have been able to should I have been there). Anyway, we decided that if SS was going to survive, we needed new tribemates because we needed metaphorical space from one another. Thus, we merged with another tribe--we'll call this one DN. DN consisted of myself, the original two members of SS, plus five or so active people and a handful of others that were sporadically active or inactive. DN was an end-game tribe full of players that seemed to prefer the early-game. Couple this with the fact our time zones were almost all over the place, and... progress was sporadic and often not well-focused. At least, it was difficult for me to collaborate with the others. Again, not saying this is anyone's fault, just that it also caused more drama (at least on my end). Then DN started to decline. First, I'll put down some names for tribemates - there's me, D, M, S, A, and N. For a while, D and S were close friends but also clashed a lot. S then started to grow rather inactive. D was invited to join one of the cluster's alphas. D waffled on this for some time until they finally relented and left. D was the same player I had been with since the start of SS. S was deeply hurt at first by this, but was already quite inactive anyway. S eventually quit playing all that often. M, being D's family member, didn't play much to begin with but really didn't play after that at all. A, N, and myself were almost never online at the same time and I never knew what to do because DN's base was just so large and needed so much done that I didn't know where to start. S had been our leader. A slowly overtook that role, but was mostly a grinder tribemate. They could churn out ingots, bullets, and so forth like you wouldn't believe! But anyway, that's pretty much all they wanted to do. N... enjoyed Aberration a lot and skipped around the maps often, growing interested in Ab and Extinction. Eventually, I left the tribe as well when I noticed everyone's declining activity levels. I took all my dinosaurs (quite a lot, as I enjoyed taming and breeding) with the permission of the remaining tribemates (so it wasn't like I stole anyone's dinos or anything), took some of my supplies and things, and slowly moved to SE because of the low population and because it reminded me of Rag's desert. There I started a tribe we'll call LA. LA was just me! At first, some other people from the Ragnarok tribe were in it so they could help me move and such, but they didn't really come over often and they had low perms. Anyway, that's where I plateaued for a while. I just built up this metal base on some pillars, slowly tried to work on defenses, but... then the COVID-19 crisis began and I fell into deep, deep depression because I was forced to go back home to live in an abusive household. For a while, I just cryo'd all the tames and would log in just enough to repair generators and refresh things, but then I had a particularly nasty week where... I didn't come online for 10 days. This was just after I had tried to get back in so I left a lot of tames out. The innards of my base was made out of adobe because otherwise, the negative hyperthermal insulation would nuke me in seconds (even at 400 health and full asc ghillie!!). Out of 12 or so cryofridges of tames, only one cryofridge was left standing in that mangled mess of metal and I couldn't get to it since I had no flyers and lived on uneven pillars (plus, the decayed adobe meant a lot of other structures collapsed and were impossible to navigate). I had to just abandon ship. To Ragnarok I went. There, I made yet another tribe that's still just me that we can call AC. I spawned in the highlands in the midst of the birthday event and gathered some rockarrots and tried to find an equus to tame. All I could find was a measly level 25. I jokingly named him Spirit in reference to the DreamWorks animated movie, but I digress. Spirit shocked me with just how incredibly helpful he was in getting started. Within a day or two, I had two argies and was back at my preferred location in Ragnarok's desert near the metal mountain. Once I felt I had some measly defenses up, I traveled back to SE with one of the argies and was able to finally pick apart the remains of the base there. I retrieved the single cryofridge of animals and discovered that what had survived included pteranodons, argies(!!!), rexes, tek rexes, and ovis. The argies were a godsend to have survived because they had incredibly high weight stats. I was so glad to have salvaged that. The tek rexes may also have really good melee and health on them, but I still haven't looked at that yet. Once I retrieved as much as I could carry or as much as I cared to carry from SE, I went back to Ragnarok and have continued to build up AC there. DN has since merged into the server alpha, but the old desert base on Ragnarok is now devoid of life and use. It's a big, turretless metal husk that I think is just there because they haven't bothered to take it down. I don't mind that too much. I kinda like having them there, lol. The old members of DN have moved on as well and a lot don't play ARK anymore. Personally? Although I was devastated when LA's SE base decayed, and for a few days I didn't want to do anything, I found it... weirdly refreshing to hop onto Ragnarok with nothing and try again. I had a blast riding around on that pathetically low level equus and clawing my way back to where I wanted to be on the map. The adventures I have had in just the week or so since I have started this new journey... I won't say that I'm glad LA decayed, because there are some tames that were lost that I really, really would love back and were sentimental to me, but I am glad to have started AC on Ragnarok. I went to tame a griffin the other day and after finding 8 level 25s and suffering through trying to kill them with my pteranodon (which, because all of mine that survived in the cryofridge were meant to be breeders, was leveled in food and not stamina, took forever!!!), I just relented and tamed a crappy level 25 griffin. I stuck it in an empty cryopod and let it amass levels and leveled it strictly in stamina. Then, I went to the scar and managed to grab me a level 100 lightning egg without getting us killed. With the boosted rates, it only took one milking to get it to adulthood (which I am so grateful for, playing chicken with wyverns on a griffin with 760(!!!) health is not fun). I am hoping to level it as needed in stamina and health so I can steal a higher level lightning egg, but in the meantime, it will do for trips to the far desert for organic polymer from mantises (I do not have the patience to tame a moschops at the moment--I will in the future, but for now, just flying around on fast lizard and monching the mantises should hold me over). I wanted organic polymer to be easier to gather because I wasn't having any problems with paste, metal, crystal, etc, but polymer has always been such a pain. I want to briefly focus on defense for my base, but after that, I intend to tame a bunch of low level female yutys and a single male so I can get a bunch of eggs. A couple of oviraptors, ironically enough, survived the great LA decay event, so I don't need to worry about getting one of them. With those, I should be able to tame just about anything. I want to focus on therizinos though. My intention is to hyperfocus on these therizinos so that I can take on the Dragon on the Island to get the Transmitter tekgram. I want to have bases across the maps, but I get so angry with trying to use drops and obelisks (Aberration is ESPECIALLY an enormous pain since I don't have a rock drake anymore... rip Seafoam, you will be missed). So yeah, that should catch everyone up to speed more or less with where I'm at in my ARK journey. It's been a wild two and a half years and 3k hours, but I'm looking forward to so many more regardless of how much heartache this game has caused me. 'Cause for all the heartache and bad days, there have been so many more good and wonderful days. In Helena Walker's words, for every sunrise I lose track of on this island, it's like each one seems more beautiful than the last... potentially because of how much I have been through to get there.
  23. Not only are you an incel but you lack basic empathy as well. Though I guess they go hand in hand, since it requires you to see counterparts of your own species (women) as subhuman to be an incel, thus lacking empathy. I just want to know what on earth makes someone play a poorly optimized game and go "ah yep, a woman made this. That's the problem. That's the only problem it could ever be. No man has ever made a game that runs poorly. Ever. In the history of gaming. Ever." Gtfo, you won't be missed.
  24. I, for one thing, am incredibly grateful for this extension. My gaming laptop died and my boyfriend and I's schedules had clashed too much to allow me to get animals imprinted properly and prepared for 1x breeding again (gigas) on his computer, so this gives me time to raise my other four giga babies to their next imprint on 2x. So so grateful!!
  25. I have successfully recreated all of my important allosaurus, argentavis, ankylosaurus, and archaeopteryx creatures from the official PVP ORP server. With S+'s help, I expect to be able to fully recreate my entire roster of animals, at least the ones I need to continue my breeding projects, but it's going to take some time. My boyfriend and I have come up with a way to allow me to integrate them into our playthrough without ruining our experience. We must tame at least one high level animal of comparable level first before we can bring any animals of the same species over, and have somewhere to safely keep them (so, likely metal or at least stone base with walls, and a cryofridge/cryopods). And, with my college schedule, work, etc, my personal boosted rates making the game a little easier and less time consuming are a welcome change to the toiling grind of official. Although official is not difficult at all when you have a tribe and everyone is doing their own job, had I chosen to stick with it and merely take my animals with me, it would have been just me doing all of it on official. And I wasn't about to have that. So, recreating my animals for singleplayer/non-dedicated isn't so bad. Though I want to know who decided SpawnSetupDino command puts in domestic points... like seriously guys? You can't make it so it puts in wild points instead?? SpawnCustomDino <creature> <stats> <M/F (for the sex of the animal)> would be perfect. So, if I wanted an allosaurus with 32 wild health points and 40 wild melee points, but didn't care about anything else, all I'd have to do is type "SpawnCustomDino (allosaurus blueprint path) "Health=32,MeleeDamageMultiplier=40" "M"," and all the other attributes would be determined randomly. Important to not make level a parameter here, since levels are determined by the points in the creature. Adding "forcetame" to the end of that would of course make the stat distribution randomized somewhat again due to taming effectiveness, but there could be a way for the game to make the taming effectiveness zero in these situations. Idk, I found the lack of an option to spawn a creature with predetermined wild stats very annoying, but cheating in creatures until I get a desired stat then "SetBabyAge 1"'ing and "slomo"'ing my way through breeding is going alright enough.
