  1. According to Battlemetrics (Never heard of them till I tried a google search, legit?), the Aberration 270 server has been offline for 6 days now...
  2. Possibly longer, I've been trying to log on to refresh+feed and haven't been able to find it in the server list...
  3. Is this in lieu of the crunch? Just wondering if we get a bonus weekend
  4. That's not taming 10 dinos a day, that's transferring 10 dinos a day, just to be clear. If you understood that, I'd have to ask what a solo player is doing transferring so many dinos at once? At the very least it forces the big tribes to do more work and still limits it to 100 a day if they have 10 people all active (rare).
  5. I'm glad that there's finally some mention of the PVE tame cap, even if it's babysteps toward acknowledging the problem now. The two biggest problems to solve for the PVE tame cap are as follows: 1) Large, off server tribes using other servers as "storage". They don't contribute to a server's community, they don't interact, trade, etc. They just arrive on server with a ton of prebuilt walls/ceilings/pillars for a base, build them in minutes and start xferring. From then on they pop on every week to feed stuff quick, maybe xfer a few more dinos if the cap's not there. 2) Lack of a storage option for dinos or a way to get kibble eggs without the dinos. An advanced tribe is incentivized to get at least 2 (and probably more) of each egg laying dino in order to move up the tame ladder. Then they're incentivized to KEEP those egg layers afterword, because you might need that kibble for imprints. Those dinos serve zero purpose other than the occasional eggs. Solving #2 as I allude is actually a pretty simple matter: We really need some kind of (tek?) storage device that will let us upload a dino as stored data without having it degrade in 24 hours, or get us eggs without needing to keep the dino. This would have the double bonus of not only helping the cap, but also lowering the load time for big bases where you have a Noah's Ark worth of 2+ of every type of animal that has to be slowly loaded and placed along with their buildings. In my mind the best solution would be an easily obtained (gamma spider, and each gamma version of other map bosses) tek device that doesn't even store the dino...it's a DNA machine. You "feed" sample dinos to it, and it'll make eggs from that dino's dna type on demand (obviously with a limit, and/or cost, like you need x amount of meat as raw material or such for it to work with). It's important btw that these do not require a tek generator or that the generator becomes much easier to use, otherwise they wouldn't be implemented by the majority of tribes. Solving #1 is a bit harder, but one OBVIOUS place to start would be a limit on dino transfers. I love the transfer system, don't get me wrong, but there should be a cap of say 10 dinos per day per person or similar. That would put a big kebosh on these storage bases popping up overnight with hundreds of dinos.
  6. A couple things: 1) I'm guessing that this is because new players are often screwed over by the current system and have nowhere to build. People might not like to admit it, but this is a 100% valid problem that WC needs to address, and over-pillaring IS the problem. The game will slowly die otherwise if new players don't trickle in to replace retiring ones. So it is definitely in WC's interest and our own to make sure new players have a place to build. 2) However, this blanket solution will likely cause more problems than it fixes. Pillars as has been said protect valuable spawns (there might be zero Spinos on our island otherwise!). They're also used to make traps, particularly on aberration for crabs. Will all unconnected Pillars self destruct? Or just solitary ones with a single ladder? Frankly I think what should happen is a system similar to several Minecraft mods, which have similar problems and solutions. People are able to claim specific areas (through various means such as a golden shovel). It doesn't have to be in one place, but they're given a set amount of block space to claim, based on things like time played or mined amounts or exp. For Ark I'd say make a "Tribe Flag" that can be crafted easily, and make a system to link flags to each other to surround a claimed area. This is that tribe's claimable land amount, you can base it on time played, numbers of dinos tamed, whatever. Flags should be indestructible as long as there are structures within the area they create. They also should not stop wild animals from spawning. 3) I'm wondering what the definition of a "Floating" base is. We have a base supported by pillars, which make it possible to make a level floor with ceilings. So you have a lot of pillars underneath our base, supporting ceilings and walls to make a large cube. The Pillars ARE supporting the ceilings, there's no spot which is not connected to the ground via a pillar...Does this count as "floating"? Or is floating just referring to bases that aren't obviously supported in any way and would be impossible with physics? I'll note, be very, very careful about causing people's bases to self destruct. Suddenly losing your base, including all the storage units, tek constructs, etc and exposing tamed dinos to the outside without warning...I can't think of a more sure way to make someone leave the game for good. 3) I'm also curious what else is affected; we have a wall of Behemoth gates around our base because we've been the victims of people griefing by luring gigas (and once a titan) nearby. Do single behemoths gates not attached to a wall decay faster too now? What about sleeping bags next to a cave entrance or campfires or stuff built on a raft?
  7. Honestly I'm fine with Extinction being a good ways out, Aberration just released not too long ago. One thing that I'd like to see on these crunches though is a short "what we're working on now" sort of list. Obviously not info about extinction secret creature or such, but simple stuff like "we're about half done with a fix for the otter babies starving the second they're born." Or "structure + is still being worked on, it's a huge undertaking but we haven't given up bring it to official". Etc etc
  8. Thanks for that btw Jath, seriously it keeps our tribe looking forward to the weekend for our big gathering/taming runs together.
  9. Is this live now? /stuckatwork Wondering if hard numbers are available for the Spino abilities, IE how much the buffs gain, how long it lasts out of water, etc.
