Am I wasting my time if I plan on never renting a server?

As things stand now - yes you are wasting your time. There is CURRENTLY no good way to get a save from "outside" into a console in order to play that save. The only known way right now is to run that save on a server.

This is not to say that WildCard will not make a facility to fiddle with console saved games ........ But time is kinda running out for them to do so. Were I you I would continue w the refresh - there is still (faint) hope that a way forward is made available to the console peeps.

  2. Did it ever work?

I would guess that either your network settings for each server are not OK (you need 1 query port and 2 (sequential) data ports that are unique to each server instance) OR (this is most likely) the "directory" that is defaulted / explicitly defined for your -ClusterDirOverride= is not accessible by both server instances. Clusters must have a defined directory where transfer stuff is sent to, and it must be the same actual disk location for all members of the cluster. Sorry I cannot comment on your hosting peeps on how to set up, I run my stuff locally, not on a provider.

This is weird - Steam thinks you are running completely in memory :) - or maybe directly from a CD/DVD drive????????

Is that external drive write enabled? (In other words has dodgy windows defender or some such "blocked" access to it). Or even, is windows sat doing a massive "scan" on the drive for either virus or indexing purposes?

Other thoughts. Is steam installed on that external drive, or is it still on your main boot C drive, but "pointing" to a game library on F: (or whatever your external dive letter is). I have had success moving the WHOLE steam installation to a different drive from my boot drive. But that was internal, not external. Trying to get steam to have "libraries" on several drives drove me to distraction! (So yeah I feel your pain at your weeks worth of effort to do the move!).

I think it is possible to run the game without intervention of steam. So as an experiment (because you will not be able to play online - single player only), from a command window, change directory to the place where ark binaries exist and try shootergame -epiclaunch . This will pop a web window wanting epic login - just close it - and see if the game now runs OK or still freezes. If stuff works here, the you have confused steam beyond redemption and need to re-look at your weeks effort ;) If it still don't work - I am kinda out of ideas, other than windows is messing you around because this is a removable drive and it is doing dodgy stuff in the background?

I can't play ark without internet connection on epic games. Does anyone have a possible solution?

You could try starting the game with command line parm -epiclaunch. And when the epic "login" web thing pops, just close it. Clearly you should first stop the epic games client running. You may then be able to play single player ..... Dunno if that will work with an epic install, but it does work on a steam install.

Caveat - my PC is busted - so this is from memory, not direct inspection - so the actual parameter my not be correct.

Good day everyone!! I run a cluster but I have been struggling with one of my Fjordur map that keeps on crashing. It gives me a fatal error 358.6. Is there maybe someone that can assist me with this?

I have reinstalled the map on Ark server Manager. Verified the files. Uninstalled and reinstalled the mods. Nothing works

    image.png

CLEARLY - Save your stuff somewhere before you fiddle so that you do not end up with a virgin map only!

It kinda looks like your saved game is busted. Try a couple of things -

    1) delete the current save game and see if you can boot a virgin "clean" map
    2) use one of the older "saves" to run map to see if that boots OK.
    3) Boot the map without any mods (not to play - just to see if it will start) And if this works, then start with adding one mod at a time until you find which one is busted.

    It does look like some mod that you have which fiddles with the appearance of things is either no longer working or no longer registered .... {ShapeFilterData .... -> removePrunerShape .... -> Crash}

The topic of the thread does not match the contents of the first post.

Yeah - a somewhat facetious title - My thinking was with such a massive update touching almost all of the "animate" blue prints extant in the game (as opposed to buildings / structures), that possibly this was a roll out (more correctly a "back port") of some of the ASA code into ASE for Wildcard to see how it flies in the wild ...............

    ---EDIT---
I altered the title to maybe make my obscure thinking more clear.

you don't authenticate on wildcard at all. on PC only Seam account or EGS account (using EOS) are needed. on steam server is advertised through query port and then peer port too once players are online, on EGS ARK uses EOS TLS 1.2 connections to advertise the server to epic. Both results responding showing you the servers on the ingame server browser (and on steam also on steam server browser too, that also allow to add servers manually with IP:queryport or just ip if queryport is in an auto-scanned range, like 27015-27020). only connection to wildcard services are done by client to download some txt files: official server list, "advertise" on main menu (the top-left box) and nothing more. servers may query wildcard addresses too if using default dynamic ini and default livetuning (an btw default livetuning link is dead) as well other stuff if set to default like ban list or text filtering. Private server owners can setup a webserver to self or third party hosted links for them or just don't use them.

Agreed - but there is a huge caveat here: Steam (at least - I cannot comment on Epic launcher) will not allow the game to run unless it is up to date. So all wildcard has to do is push a patch that stops online play. Game Over.

Further, even if there is no direct "enemy action" by the game publisher, the game is no longer supported and receiving updates, and it will be an inevitable matter of time (granted this could be a long time) before the steam and or epic API that deals with server advertising and client authentication alters. At which point ASE is again game over.

  8. @froseph LOL - from first looks this thing is so OP it NEEDS a "nerf". And you found it, it gets brain freeze under water! (seriously - log a ticket)

@SunsetErosion That's interesting. Why did you choose a giga as a host? My dumbass would probably have used a DoDo LOL. I wonder if there is some kind of % damage as opposed to a a flat x HP over time? I wonder if the "host" is intend to survive - or if it is intended/forced to die? Whatever, your HP drops and time remaining do not add up to a working mechanic.

  9. Something that stuck in the rusty broken sieve that I call a brain spoke to "X-Box exclusive". Right now I dunno if that was in reference to Ark2, or ASA ......... So Yeah as above - nobody (probably including WildCard :) ) knows right now.

  10. @TigrisGera IF the process works the same as in the past:

    1. Nobody knows yet - that is well up in the air.
    2. No the saves are likely to be public and open to anyone at all.
    3. As per 2) - No special requirement.
    4. The save comprises a zip or archive of the full save directory for that server instance along with the Map, tribe files and character files. There is no "manipulation" of data - it is a flat copy. As such anything you saw in the actual official game will appear in the "copy" when it is started up. To get this to work in single player, you will need to unzip this whole lot into the equivalent local save game directory for that map on your PC. This will clearly destroy your existing single player game. Once the save is unzipped / installed. You can start the game in single player, and then use admin commands to claim all of the kit that you had online. OR you can (before start-up) rename the file "yoursteamID.arkprofile" to be "LocalPlayer.arkprofile" and then start the map in single player, and be your "online" self in that map. OR you can dump this lot onto a server and start it up with the appropriate directory command (?AltSaveDirectoryName=xxxxx) - and then join that server as if it were your old official game.

This is clearly NOT the same as an in game "upload to transmitter". And I have not seen any indication anywhere that such a beacon upload process will be made available to "save" online stuff?

P.S. - If you are on console - "sorry for you" - the only option is to get this "save" into your own private server that allows console connects .......

they say the arthro Will drop some type new items

They did not. They said something "distilled" from an Arthro essence can allow it to make its "sticky" stuff effective on Tek kit.
"And here's a tip: if you crush up the right Arthropleura, you'll get an enzyme that makes Rhyniognatha glue as TEK-disruptive as Dinopithecus dung."

So either that is loose talk in the dossier, or you need to do stuff with the right Arthro. Maybe one of the variants of Arthro, or maybe even a new engram recipe ??? (Or even Dhino dung does Nothing to tek ;) )

my numbers above the keyboard don't work

Like F1, F2 ... F12? Those are keys that are not normally mapped in Ark - so maybe the base game don't "understand" F1 for example. (I know that in steam F12 is generally a screenshot - but that may be steam overlay, not Ark itself?)

Not sure I have grasped your question? Otherwise you need to look at curses and termcap and that stuff to see what is breaking your efforts? (i.e. make sure that your "stack" is loading the correct ncurses definition for the actual keyboard you have). Sorry I can drive command line linux quite well, but when it comes to gui and games - not so much

  13. Dunno - I done a single player "killwildinos" and flew around and saw nothing. @Larkfields Commented in a different post that The Island and Lost Island at roughly 60 / 40 is a good bet. But what they share with - I dunno.

Its not yet clear on which maps it can spawn on!

I’ve always been under the impression that WC had no idea the game would blow up the way it did. As such they lacked both the real world infrastructure to support the game as well as an engine that wasn’t meant to expand in the way it has.

The better move would have been to sell the IP. As long as gameplay remained the same it could have grown substantially with a larger team behind it. I would have gladly paid $10 for a 3 creature DLC pack.

Instead Ark has a staggering amount of content that even with thousands of hours I haven’t experienced a lot of it. With less than a $100 investment Ark has surpassed in time every other game I’ve played by a substantial amount.

And now they are stuck. I just wonder how far up the chain this “Dark Souls Ark” nonsense goes because it sounds like the most assured failure imaginable.

I 100% agree with all of that !!! Most ROI in a game I have ever had (and I have played games for like 40 years! so I have seen a few).
And the "Souls Ark" is likely stalled dead in the water somewhere in the pipeline, otherwise this push at Ark remastered would not be such a thing.

können Sie die Erstattung des Kaufpreises abzüglich einer Nutzungsentschädigung verlangen

This is unfortunately the key - Refund, less "compensation for use". So getting a refund now on a game bought 5 years ago ends up as zero $. The people most upset about ASE are those that have several years of progress on official servers that is no longer going to be available to them (especially console players - yes PC people can copy the saves and run a private server to continue with). But the fact of "several years of progress" ends up weighting compensation for use, which ends up in 0 $ refund.

In all events it can be argued that the game does NOT have a fatal flaw - because it still runs every day and has done so for many years.

Never mind all of that - the issue is that Ark is going out of support - so all debates around this kind of approach is not really relevant. By choosing to make ASE end of life, Wildcard no longer has any obligation towards that product.
