  1. PS4 - Single Player - Ragnarok Logged in, and started grinding out a bunch of stone dino gates. I then took out my lowest level Quetz and flew over next to my Argy trap in the side of a cliff. I then positioned the Dino gates in a half circle, using the cliffside to close off the other half. I can now use this as a taming pen for dinos my Quetz or Argy drop into it. Plus, if any dino falls down the cliff from above, it will be trapped, and I can tame that too, if I want. Flew around and right off the bat, I spotted a 145 female Doed. I had just tamed a 145 Blue Male a couple days earlier, so this was a no-brainer. Scooped it up and dropped it off at the taming pen. Now I must admit that I have an Argentavis addiction, and while I was starving the Doed, I noticed a 150 Male Argy in the distance. So I moved the Quetz away from the taming trap, and set her on Passive. Then I ran back to the little enclosed base I have next to the taming trap. Besides a bed, mortar and storage box, I keep a spare Ptera and Argy housed here to use to kiting in dinos or fighting off baddies. I grabbed the Ptera, and kited the 150 male Argy back. He took much longer than expected, as he kept losing interest, even though he had hit me just seconds earlier. It was really weird. But as we got closer to the trap, another Argy joined in on the chase. So I led both into the pen and closed the dino gate. The 2nd Argy was only a level 15, so I ko'd that one first, and then focused on the 150 male. Finally got him down, killed the level 15 for prime, and went over to check on the 145 Doed in the nearby pen. He was still way high in torpor and food, so I got on the Ptera and started flying around some more to look for a high level Anky or two. Flying east of Viking Bay, in the woods near the castle, I spotted something blue on the ground. I land amongst the thick stand of trees, and the nI realize it is a Bronto egg! Besides Dodo eggs, and one lone Titanboa egg on SE i n the desert, I have never seen a Wild dino egg in all my hours of play (Wyvern eggs don't count) So I grabbed the Bronto egg, and within 1/2 of a second, I was whipped about 100 yards by a bronto! Oops, big mistake. I then figured I could run back to my Ptera who was on Neutral and taking on what now was 3 brontos. a level 135, a level 145 and a level 95! I tried calling and calling, but the Ptera would not come back to me. So I keep creeping closer, thinking if I got a better angle on the Ptera, I could call him off. Suddenly I hear heavy footsteps, and they are right behind me, I turn around just in time, to see a 95 Carno jump from the short cliff above me, and he rams me hard, and I am really hurting, since I was still recovering from the bronto hit moments earlier. I know this Carno will kill me, so I try running underneath the brontos who are still engaged with my Ptera. Escaping thru to the other side, I am starting to think I am in the clear, WHAMMO, I am sailing thru the air, and off the cliff. I land on the east beach at Viking Bay, but I am hurting and my heart is pounding bad. I look up, and the 135 Bronto is jumping off the cliff, and on me like white on rice. I can barely run, so I think I will swim to safety. I dive into the water, and immediately see 2 sharks and a pack of mantas nearby. So I change course, and try to scurry along the beach back to my base where Screamer or any of my other melee dinos are waiting. I step foot back on the beach, but NO, the Usain Bolt of Brontos is right there and sends me flying thru the air into the rocks. Now my bones are broken, and I am hobbling slowly, know what comes next. SPLAT .... Killed by a level 135 Bronto. I spawn back at the main base, jump on Screamer, and fly over to reclaim my possessions and get my Ptera back. By now the bronto is moving back towards its origin, and I easily get my dead body loot. As I climb back on Screamer (my melee Argy) I can hear the bronto has changed course, and is charging me again. We take to the sky, and get to safety. I didn't want to kill the bronto, because I still want to tame a couple high levels for mobile bases. I finally re-locate my Ptera, he is landed not far from the other 2 brontos. He is bloody, and down under 200 HP. I can't figure out why the brontos de-aggro'd and didn't kill him, but I'm glad they didn't. I race back to the taming pens, and both the Argy and Doed are ready for food. I tame them up, jump on the Quetz and haul the Doed back to base with the new Argy, plus Screamer following behind. Exhausted from the experience, I level up everyone on base. Added more wood to the forges ( I want the charcoal), filled the feed bins and then logged off for the night.
  2. I've now seen/heard from 2 sources that the Classic Flyer mod seems to cause incrementally more aerial spawns. Here is a great NEEBS GAMING video. (Language may not be SFW)
  3. PS4 - Ragnarok - Single Player So last night I flew around the map again, looking for a Quetz, any Quetz. Returning home empty handed, I resorted to "DestroyWildDinos". Then I went off to do a metal run again. After about 20 minutes I decided to fly back to the top of the snow mountain near the center of the map. This is the one and only spot I ever saw a Quetz in the past, even if it was a level 7. Well on my way there I notice an alpha Raptor in a different direction. So I fly over to get a closer look. As I get near, a Quetz renders into the distance! I quickly change focus, and as spyglass it, I see it is a 150 male!!!!!!! Holy crap, I went from no Quetz, to the best! So I park the Tapejara, get in the front seat, and begin my taming. 2-3 times the damn Quetz would fly over big areas of water, and I would have to wait, out of fear of drowning it. Finally it starts flying up mountain, and I can tell it must be close to dropping. Just as I release another Shocking dart, I notice a tiny little pond below us. YEP, the Quetz drops right into the pond. I swoop down, and land. Running to the Quetz, I see that his head is just barely sticking out of the water. So set up, watching the shoreline/woods for baddies. Suddenly I can hear the Quetz being attacked. I turn around, and see a pack of Terror birds that had swum over from the far shore. I dive in, get them after me, and manage to kill the last one with me hanging on to life. I quickly build a fire and roast up meat. I was down to less than 50 HP. Finally I feel the Quetz has starved enough, and I dump in the prime meat. He starts eating away, and his taming bar is rising fast. Then wham, another freaking terror bird appears and get a couple chomps in on the Quetz. I KNEW I should have brought spike walls with me. Finally the Quetz tames up, but only as a 208, so not 100% due to the damage. But he is stil lthe best Quetz I've ever had. So I throw a platform saddle on him, land my Tapejara on the platform and start flying home. Not 30 seconds after getting into the air, I see another Quetz. a level 25 female. Not very high, but it is a female, so I start the chase. I get a half dozen dozen shots into it, and a level 95 female Quetz renders in flying straight at us! What do I do? I decide to get them both, so I will finish the 25 first, and then come back for the 95. However suddenly the level 25 female does something I've never seen before. It flies down to the surface of the earth, and just keeps flying away just feet above the ground! Past raptors, bears and other dinos, Then she is zipping across the frozen lake near the redwoods. Suddenly my Tapejara moves, and I get knocked off the Quetz! I am standing in the middle of this frozen lake, and freezing. I try to call back the Quetz, but is already too far, and ignoring my spyglass whistle. So I start running after them. I can see wolves, bears and even raptors on all sides. I figure any second now, I will aggro them and die. But I keep running and then I see a Yuty and his carno minions killing everything in sight. They are on the edge of the Redwoods, and both Quetz and my Tapejara are so so so close! Finally I call my Quetz back to me, and I mount up, figuring to cut my loses on the female Quetz. But then I see that she is wedged into the base of a cliff, and that the Yuty hasn't seen her yet. I position my Quetz in hover mode, and finish knocking out the female. Then I had to build some fires, as I was nearly frozen to death. With a head on a swivel, I am scanning for threats, and convinced that the Yuty (a level 145 Yuty!) and his buddies will see me any second now and destroy my sleeping tame. Either that he will scare my already tamed bird into flying off without me, so I stayed in the saddle of the 150 male Quetz in case that happened, and made sure the Tapejara was on follow. Finally I'm certain they see me, and just as I am beginning to take off, I notice that a couple of the Beer-tame dinos have engaged in a losing battles with the bad guys. By the grace of ARK, the beer-tames lead the Yuty and gang AWAY from my location! Soon after the female Quetz tamed up, and we begin the long trek home. Flying over the area where I last saw the 95 Quetz, but it has disappeared. I curse myself for not going after her first. Now it is getting dark, and so I land the Quetz's on top of tall skinny land mass surrounded by water. (Might be Titan's Rise area) So we hang out for the night, and despite having a raptor spawn in on us, it was rather peaceful. As the sun comes out, we take to the skies again, and then nearly out of render distance, I see a Quetz. Close the distance and yep, it is the 95! The hunt is on. Finally we drop the Quetz, and it lands on the top of a rocky outcrop with nothing but friendly dinos in every direction. The Quetz is so high up on the rocks, that I can only reach it by hovering my Quetz next to it. Knowing that it is safe from attack (unless a Rex or bigger comes) I figure I might as well harvest some of the metal and wood in the area. By the timeI have both my tamed Quetz's loaded up, the 95 is ready, and I begin the long slow trip home with 3 Quetz and a Tapejara. It was slow and frustrating, as the Quetz kept running up the butt of my Quetz, and stopping us in mid flight. But finally I got the whole parade home and crafted up platform saddles for the other 2 Quetz. What an amazing turn of events. No Quetz after weeks of play on this map, (plus losing all my dinos including Quetz's on The Island due to some file glitch), and then within 6 hours, I have 3 of them! Thank you DestroyWildDinos command! Now that I have a Quetz, I can pick up many dinos and drop them into a taming pen. No worrying about getting jumped by bad dinos or hazardous weather. I can't wait to tame up some Ankys, MegaSloths, Mammoths and maybe even some Rhinos!
  4. Last night I took Screamer my melee Argy out for more exploring and leveling up. Near the middle of the lower third of Ragnarok, (not far from the invisible wall) I came upon a Level 15 Poison Wyvern. Screamer easily took him out. Then a Level 20 Fire appeared, and we took him out too. At that point I noticed a Yellow beacon with gold ring, so we went over to collect the booty. Upon returning to the air we were immediately attacked by another Poison Wyvern, and as we battled it Screamer is suddenly engulfed in flames. Now it is 2 on 1, as Screamer battles a Fire and Poison wyvern. We are taking some damage, and finally we kill the Poison... he was level 80! Time to focus on the remaining Fire dragon. Twice I had to duck into the cliff rocks to force feed Screamer some meat to heal, as he was taking a lot of damage. But after a few long and tense minutes, the screen flashes " Your Argentavis has killed a Fire Wyvern level 180 !! "180" Holy Cow, I didn't even know they could get that high. No wonder it was such a battle. We then flew around collecting the talons from the corpses and also healing up Screamer who was down to his last 25% of health. We then flew around for a bit in the area looking for wyvern nests, but no such luck. I guess the nests are only in the "Scar" areas? We began flying straight home, and as we were flying over the snow area in the middle of the map, I suddenly heard the heartbeat of incoming death, and I realized my character was down to 100 points of health! Quickly we detoured to warmer climate and I attempted to heal as best I could without any cooked meat with me. Eventually we made it home, but once again we did not see a single Quetz or tapejara! WTH? Where can I find a Quetz on Rag? Got back to base, went from Dino to Dino using up their accrued levels, and making sure all the feed bins were full. Then I took out Maxine Rex and Golden Eagle my two "Mule" Argies and we went on a Metal and Obsidian run. While collecting some metal, I was attacked by a couple of Dilos, level 85 and level 140. I managed to knock both out, tame them up and now I have a couple of gatekeepers to protect the base from Pegos. I built a couple more forges and loaded them up with the metal. Then off to bed I went.
  5. PS4 - Single Player - Ragnarok Played on Rag a fair amount this weekend. Started out by exploring more of the map and hoping to find and tame a high level Tapejara. After flying for a while, I came across a 145 male Argy. I flew away a bit, and ground out the smallest taming pen I could. Almost got killed as I was finishing, as a Scorpion snuck up behind me. Luckily me Ptera was still on Neutral, and killed it, while I passed out. Finally finished the trap. Re-located the 145,( was so lucky he was just chilling on a tiny rock area) and kited him in. While I was starving him a bit, I flew around the area more, and spotted a 140 Female! Flew back to the trap, tamed up the 145 male, and moved him away from the trap. Went back to find the 140 female, and could not see her. So I flew around a bit, and found a 145 female Ptera. Followed her until she landed near a safe spot, and tamed her up. On the way back to the trap, I found another 140 female, kited her in, and whammo I now have 2 high level Argies and a high level Ptera ............. rinsed and repeated, and by the time I returned to my beach base, I had 4 Argies of 140 or 145 level, and a 145 mated couple of Pteras! Never did see a Tapejara over level 30 Sunday, I got sick of watching football and all of the protesting players, so back on ARK I went. First thing I did was breed my new Argies and Pteras, and stashed their eggs in a preserving bin. Then I took out my Melee leveled 145 Argy to level him up and explored more of the map, and found an area over run with meglanias walking around a beach. Tried to tame a 145 female, but got attacked and got Rabies. managed to put down a bed before dying. Spawned back in, only to quickly die to a pack of Allos. However my Argy was on passive. Wait for the timer, and spawn back in. Somehow by luck, the pack had split up, and it's alpha had moved out of range. So only the 2 lower level Allos were attacking my Argy. Whistled him neutral and watched him just shred those Allos. Then we went looking for the lead Allo. Found him, and I was surprised to see he was in fact a level 145! So I began trying to tame him. Finally after chasing him around a bit, he falls on the edge of the beach. I look around, and their is nothing in the area, so I fly off to scout a bit more, while I let him starve. As I fly back to him, I can clearly see a shark chomping away at the Allos butt hanging in the water. I start fighting the shark, and after knocking it out, I return to the Allo .... yep DEAD! I return to the shark then ... a level 15. So killed him out of spite and began scouting again, while cursing my bad luck. Saw a lone Jerboa hopping along the sand, and quickly tamed her up. On the way back to base, saw a Level 100 Alpha Carno. Decided to test out "Screamer" my melee argy, and he came thru with flying colors. It took a long time, but we killed the Carno, and he was in remarkable health. At this point, I realized that I had a lot of CP, Oil, Pearls, Chitin, and other valuable stuff in the inventory, so back home we went. Next I decided to try for some larger dinos, but realizing I don't have a Quetz on this map yet, I flew off to find one. Taking the only Tapejara I had, we flew around the map all over the raptoring place. Not find a SINGLE QUETZ! grrrrrrrrr! Then as I am flying back across the snow mountain near the large bridge, I see a Quetz level 30 flying high above the mountains. I land the Tapy to get in the front seat, and at this time a Yuty comes out of nowhere and scares my Tapy. Well by the time I get him calmed down, the Quetz has disappeared. I flew around for at least 20 minutes looking for it with no luck. I then returned to base, and switched to Screamer, so I could go back and kill the Yuty. Mission accomplished but only after I had fallen off the Argy by accident, and nearly died when the Yuty knocked me off the mountain. Saved by the parachute! In the meantime, my Argy followed me and I was able to re-group and finally kill that SOB. Frustrated by the lack of Tapejaras and Quetz, I returned to base. As I was flying over Viking Bay, I noticed a shark in the water.... glassed it and saw it was a 145 female ! I only had 2 sharks under level 30 at my base, so I quickly set out to tame this shark. While arrowing the shark, I was attacked by the damn lobsters, and thus drowned. 2nd time, I knock out the shark, but am again knocked out by lobsters and drown. Re-spawn, tame up the shark and bring it back to base. On the way I see another 145 male, and so I manage to kite it into a shallow rocky area, and finally tame it up. What luck, I now have a mate boosted pair of badazz sharks. At this point I decide to do more water exploring, so I create a Mindwipe, and level up my oxygen and health, along with Stamina and Speed. Riding the 145 female "Chyna", and accompanied by her mate "Triple H", and the two low levels sharks Chompy and Bitey we got out to tame more water dinos. Within the first hour we located and tamed two basils, but both were low level. Then we get sneak attacked by a level 60 Mosa! I thought for sure we would die, but amazingly, we killed it and everyone survived. Off to the shallows to heal everyone up, and then we went back at it. Killed a leeds and then spotted another 145 shark female. Parked the sharks, and went off to tame the 145, after knocking it out, I notice another shark swimming in, It is a 145 as well! Holy crap what luck. So I kite it a bit away, and finally knock that one out too. Now I have 4 level 145s, 2 more low levels and a pair of basils. Finally I see a Mosa in the distance. But just as I started to get the group hidden away, it attacks and I have no choice to kill it. It was a level 90. With all the sharks it was actually very easy. More hunting and we kill an alpha shark. Finally I spot a Plesio...... I start tranqing and following the level 20, when I get attacked from a 135 Plesio! But as soon as I hit it with some arrows, it runs off, and I mean it just keeps going, so fast that I lose it. Back to the level 20 and again I get attacked by the 135. once again it runs off right away. Come back and fight you coward! As I regroup and start looking for the level 20 a third time, I notice some tentacles sticking out of the other side of a large rock. I run away like a Hyenadon, and grab the entire dino navy. We go on the hunt and kill the squid! At this point I realize it is getting late on a Sunday, and I guide everyone home and call it a night. It was a good weekend with my dino army basically doubling in 2 days. I'm concerned about the lack of Quetz and Tapejaras, so tonight I think is destroywilddinos time.
  6. This morning I am a sad panda. Last night I continued on my new gameplay of Ragnarok. I tamed a couple of sharks, three high level Pteras, and added on to my base on the beach. Harvested metal and made some ammo. I then spent the next hour exploring the map. And even found my first Griffin. But did not attempt to tame. I have today off, so I logged on this morning, and decided I wanted to transfer a Doed and Anky from my Island base to Rag. However when I go to the Island map, it keeps acting as if I am a brand new player on the map. Create my character, etc. So it appears I somehow lost my entire Island data! WTH? besides losing a huge base I had built, I lost nearly 50 dinos, including my highest level Spino ever, high level Argies, Ankys, Doeds, Tapejaras. Plus my Quetzs. Then there was the huge ammo and resources I had built up. I'm not seeing any indication of an update last night, and I know I did not delete any files. So I am so confused and totally bummed out. This is on PS4 - single player. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  7. PS4 Single Player Ragnorok So last night I spawned into the Island. Used the Ascend2 command, and began my adventure into Ragnorok! Spawned into Viking Bay. Ground out a base and some tools/weapons. Tamed a Ptera, flew until I found some Argies. While shooting at the Argy, he knocked both me and my Ptera off the cliff we were standing on. Somehow, I survived the fall, and landed on a small ledge on the cliff. Finally brought the Argy down, by doing the bullfighter "Ole" technique. I then flew off to get some more prime, as the stuff I had was now bad. Got some prime, and returned to the Argy just in time to see a Level 53 Rex make a snack out of him. It was then that I realized that the "small ledge" was actually accessible on both sides. So I did some grinding and build a wood spike wall on both sides of the location I wanted to build a taming pen. I then spent most of the time building an Argy taming pen, only to end up taming an argy away from it, because my Ptera was such a low level, it's stamina sucked, and I kept having to land. But at least I had an Argy! Then over the next couple hours tamed a Trike, Parasaur, Shark, 2 more Pteras, and a handful of Dodos, Lymas, Dilos and Dimorphs. nothing high level, as I was just staying in Viking Bay area. I then started to explore a bit of the map. After searching a portion of the map and not seeing any Tapejaras, I jumped over to the Island map, and loaded up the Green OB with my low level male Taperjara and "mule" Argy I had just sitting around on that map, that I never used. Jumped back to Rag, and flew to the green OB. Downloaded the Tapejara. Put his saddle on him, and then downloaded the Argy. ..... um Wildcard, why did my Argy never download, yet he is no longer showing in the OB?! Oh well, it was just one that I had stopped using on the island anyway, so no real big loss. flew back to base, and loaded up on tranq arrows. I then took the Tapejara out and found a level 58 Argy. Not very high, but prior to that everything I'd seen had been level 31 or lower. Tamed him up, fought off some piggies in the process, and then flew back to base. Jumped over to the Island to see if for some reason that missing Argy was back there. but no he is gone. As I jumped back to Rag, I noticed that the difficulty level was only .3! WTH? I always play it set to 3 or 5. Not sure how that got lowered, but that probably explains the low level dinos I was seeing, and also why the two Argies I tamed seemed so much easier to get that usual. Tonight I will most likely do a dino wipe, after increasing the difficulty to at least 3. (not sure I want to go full 5 yet, until I know the map better) I will try to find a capture a high level Tapejara as well as Argy and Ptera. Then I can explore a bit more, and see where the Wyverns spawn. I haven't seen any yet. I also need to scout out a location for a new base. One that has metal and stone nearby, and is more centrally located. My first base is on the very edge of the water. Great location for seeing any mean dinos coming, but far off from resources needed to advance. Thus far, I haven't transferred over anything else from my Island map. Trying to decide if I want to transfer over more dinos, some machinery, and resources (CP, Ingots, etc.) and weapons. Or just continue grinding all of that from scratch on Rag. I will say this, Rag thus far is a beautiful map.
  8. Play SINGLE PLAYER for a bit to get used to the game mechanics and maps. Then follow the advise from that people posted above, if you are going onto public servers.
  9. You are so lazy. get out there and do something on ARK!
  10. Well I couldn't stay away. Got home from work and decided to get on ARK. Back to the Island map and took my fresh Baryonyx tame out for some leveling. Started small, and was doing a decent job. Then I saw a what I thought was an egg. I got off an as I got closer, it was not an egg. As I tried to get back to my Baryonyx, it suddenly runs off. I look to see what is going on, and there stands a Rex. How in the heck did I not see it earlier? Well I start running for my life, and figure bye bye Bary. Just then the Rex sends me flying. I'm hurting bad, and I manage to dodge and weave in some trees while trying to reach safety. I finally got to a decent spot, and I get ready to start shooting the Rex with tranq arrows (all I had with me). That's when I can see the Bary is engaged in battle with the Rex. And then it becomes a battle royal. 2 Stegos and a Argy join the battle. I finally got my spyglass out, and whistle my Bary back to me. Once back on the saddle, I check the stats and am amazed to see the health is still really high. Looking back at the brawl going on further down the beach, I notice that all the combatants are getting bloody. So I quickly ride in, and start chomping some Rex butt. We quickly get the kill, and then I focus on the Argy circling over head. We take that down as well, and then off the Stegos. All of them were under level 20s, so we lucked out. Leveled up the Bary, and continued on our way back home. Hatched a couple Dimorph eggs and got a 156 male, so threw led him to the breeding pen, so he can mate when he grows up. I then took out my lower level Quetz for some leveling flytime. I spotted a group of 3 Pachys. I'd never tamed a Pachy before, so scooped up one and dropped it off at the taming pen on top of the Redwoods mountain. Knocked it out, and took one of the Ankys out for a spin for Metal while waiting for the Pachy to tame up. Filled the forge with metal, dropped the Pachy off at base, and took the Quetz back out. Flying over the water near the west edge of the Redwoods, I spot a Spino. The Spino was my first favorite Dino, even before the Argy, I had tamed and bred Spinos. Even after I got many hours into the game, I never was able to find a Spino higher that level 95. So imagine my surprise when I see a 120+ hopping around the water. I quickly flew back to base, crafted up some shocking darts. (So glad I made a generator and fridge last weekend!) I fly back and begin tranqing the Spino. But of course it takes off, and runs away. I tried to find another spot to safely dart it, but it keeps running all over the place. Then I get an idea. I fly back to base again, and build 15 dino gates and gateways. (Thanking myself for leaving a Doed full of stone and an Argy full of wood at the base over the weekend) I then flew back to the beach an built a large semi circle along a tall cliffside. Leaving the last spot open, I fly out and kite the Spino to the trap. I had to let it hammer my Argy a few times to keep it close, but we got it to the trap. I then landed the Argy outside of the gates, ran over to the other side and filled in the last gateway spot. From there I just sat on top of the cliff and tranq'd him until he was down. A beautiful dark green/black spino with black fins and mint belly. I swear the colors of wild dinos are so much better over the last couple months. I then made up some feed bins for the Spino. Closed off any holes in my Spino Trap, as it will now serve as his pen. and then flew back to the mountain base for the night. I never did get to the water yet for Mosas or Plesios. But (and I know this is silly) but I don't like being in the ARK water when it is night outside in real life. I get too tense. So that will have to wait for a weekend. I also have determined that I have to tame at least 1 of every dino. So that leaves. Paracer, Giga, Squid, Centipeed, Spider, Meglania, Eel, Bigfoot, Hyena, Snail, Stupid pelican, compy and probably a couple more. NOT looking forward to the Giga or Squid.
  11. Started out my weekend, by taking my frogs to the cave I call Chitin Cave on the Island. It is in the Redwoods b y the little pond. Well, I haven't been in this cave for months, and right away I start dying, with nothing around. I barely make it out of the cave alive. I then realize, I must need an airtank in this cave. I don't remember needing to do that before. So back to base to get some airtanks and masks. Return to the cave, and begin the assault. Wow, it seemed so much harder than before. I really struggled with it. I kept having to retreat and heal up everyone (myself and 4 frogs) Plus even before I got the artifact, my metal pick, sword and hatchet had all broken. Those dang centipedes are a lot harder too. I finally got the artifact, and after dumping all the extra meat accrued in the frogs, we start heading out. Well I got turned around, and managed to get us into some more battles, and we nearly lost the lowest ranking frog. Finally I find the right path, and am sprinting to the exit. But my frogs are loaded with Cementing Paste and Chitin, and so they are going slow. I race out the exit, and turn around.... where are the other frogs? They were just behind me a second ago. I head back into the cave, and the frogs are no where to be seen. So I begin the descent again, and finally when I reach the first location of water, the frogs glitch out of the ground to join me. I gather them up, and back out we go. Once again I exit the cave, and the other frogs are no where to be found! so back I go, and they are found again back at the water. This time as I approach the exit to the cave. I stop the group a bit farther back from the exit, and whistle All Stop. I then ride one frog out. I return on foot and pick up the next one, and keep repeating until all the frogs are out. Not sure what is causing the glitch to make them teleport to the water in the cave when I try to have them follow me out. Oh well, got everyone back to the frog base. Transferred all the goodies to my transport Argy, and begin heading home. About halfway home, I spot a level 100+ female Baryonyx. Since I had just tamed up a male a few days earlier, I figured what the heck. So I pick up the Bary, and fly it over to my swamp taming pen. As I am tranqing it, I fall off the top of the pen, right onto a pair of boas. Well, I managed to kill them, but not after getting bit a few times. Before I can find some stimberries, I passed out. And that is when a Sarco decides I will be his lunch. I respawn at the main base, jump on an attack Argy, and go reclaim my loot from the Sarco. I then fly the tamed bary to the Frog base, throw a saddle on it, and fly the two Argies back to the mountain base. Fast forward to Sunday. I decided to tame about 8 Dimorphs. After searching for about 30 minutes, the highest I could find was in the 40's. Oh well I tamed up AL, Peg, Kelly, Bud, Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris and Stewie. I then took them out with an Argy, and watched them tear up a bunch of low level dinos. I then bring them back near the base, and build a small breeding pen. I want to breed them for color mutations. I get them started on breeding, and then I took a quick trip down to try and find an Oviraptor. While scouting for one, I come across a female Dimorph 108, a male 104, and a female 72! I managed to tame them all, and bring them back to base. Now I can breed for good stats with these, while the low levels breed for color. At this point, I realized I was a bit burned out on ARK. So I spent the rest of the day watching football, and other TV. I think I will take a few days off, and then probably admin cheat the Ascend2 command, so I can try out Ragnorok.
  12. Very impressive task. I can't imagine trying to tame a Quetz without a Tapejara or another Quetz. Kudos to you.
  13. Yep, I know, but the Bary was in the water, and I didn't want to get dismounted by accidently touching the water with my Argy.
  14. Had a long day of work, and was pretty tired last night, so I didn't do much on ARK. Spawned in at my Beach base, and loaded up my Argy with as many valuable resources as I could. Then I flew off for my main base at the top of the mountain in the Redwoods (Island Map). Just as I entered the area by the swamp next to the Redwoods, I spotted a Level 44 Baryonyx. Not too high level, but I have never seen one higher than 72 in all my time playing so I figured WTH, let's tame it. So I land my Argy "Painkiller" on a large rock next to a cliff. I then proceed to throw some tranq arrows at my quarry. Well, as expected, he changes direction, and comes right at me. So I continue to hit him with darts. At this point, my beloved Argy decided he needed to stretch his wings. Shoving me off the rock in the meantime! Oh hello Mr. pissed off Baryonyx, WHAM (gold dazed screen), wait for my controls to work again, and try to grab my Asc pike. but oops, wrong button combination and instead I bring up my long rifle, which I manage to get one shot off, before the Baryonyx stuns me again, and then Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm dead. (For you Metal Gear Solid fans, imagine the "snake, Snake, SNAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" sound effect) So I spawn back at my beach base. Luckily, I still had a Ptera there, but wait. no saddle, and all of my resources to build one are on my Argy back by my body. So naked and afraid, I begun running as fast as I can towards the location of my death. I was like a prehistoric decathelete! Jumping over rocks, sprinting pass Dilo, and hoping that I make it before the corpse timer runs out. FInally I can see the corpse beacon, and as I approach, I can clearly see the Baryonyx standing over my dead body, and beating the crap out of my Argy set on passive. Well my spyglass was on my body, and since my Argies are set to Ignore group whistle, I can't get him to pick me up, or defend himself. That's when I remember I had left a raft not far from that location. I grab the raft, run it right into the Baryonyx, and quickly jump onto my Argy. I then kited the Bary away from my body, and retrieved my possessions with less than a minute left on the time! I then finally tamed up the Baryonyx, had him follow me back to the beach base. Made a saddle for him, and flew back to my mountain base. I had planned on calling it a night, but as I neared my base, I saw a level 108 Female Anky all bloody but alive walking around. Well I already have 3 other Ankys, but none of my females were over 100 pre-tame, so I grab my Quetz, and fly back to grab the Anky. As luck would have it, she had disappeared. I then spent the next 10 minutes looking for her, and fighting off the wild Argies who kept attacking us. I finally found the high level female, and scooped her up. Flew her over to my Taming pen, and dropped her off. Knowing she was bloody, I decided to give her some time to heal up so I didn't kill her by accident. So I took a few minutes to capture and tame a few Dimorphs to replace the one killed by the Cnardia the day before. I get those back to the base, build a Anky saddle, and fly back to my taming pen. 4-5 shots latter the female is out, and I stuff her full of Mejos. I then flew back to base to do some work while she is taming. Upon my return to the taming base, the Anky is no where to be found at first. then I realize she had glitched thru the floor, and was trapped in the pillars below. So I spent a few minutes removing the floor panels, and tried to get her out. But no luck, she was glitched into the Pillars. At this point I decided, since the game glitched her thru the floor, and into this situation, I was going to Admin command her way out. So I ghosted her out of there. And brought her home. Made a batch of gas for the generator, and called it a night. This weekend I will begin searching for and taming Plesios and Mosas in the sea. Also, I will be taking out the 5 member Frog Squad, to go to Chitin Cave and get a ton of Cementing Paste. Have a good weekend everyone.
  15. Last night I began my focus on the ocean. I tamed up 5 Sharks and a low level Basil. I also managed to die while taming the last shark. This was at the end of the night, and I had returned to base, after spending over an hour with the 4-shark, 1-Basil squad killing everything we ran across. (of course I purposely avoided the Mosas and Plesios) but we did take out a couple Alpha Sharks. Anywho, as I was putting all my new water dinos as close to my shore base as possible (I haven't built a water pen yet) I just happened to see a 90+ level shark swim by. Since that was a higher level than the previous 4 sharks, I decided to tame it as well. So I swim out and tranq it from a small rock outcrop, that was far away enough to not agro my other water dinos on the beach. I then swim to the shark to stuff it with prime meat. I turn around and ZAP, a whole heard of Cnardia (7 at least) shock the living Dilo out of me, and I end up dying to a level 115. Well, my shore base was close by, so I re-spawn, grab my water dinos and swim over to collect my body and inventory. However my body was NO WHERE to be found. It is so frustrating to die in the water, as I never seem able to locate my body. So I lost all of the loot from the previous hour of collecting. (I had made the mistake of transferring all the good loot from my dinos to my survivor at the beach before I tamed that last dino. So goodbye MC & Asc level tools and weapons (Pick, hatchet, Crossbow, Sword, Rifle and Pike were all in my tool bar) Plus about 150 Tranq arrows. Not my smartest or finest moment in ARK. Tonight I hope to build a water pen, and then go look for some of the big boys in the ocean.
  16. Bragger! I only have 1, but I do put in 40+ hours at it each week, plus it is a 71 miles commute each way. But I am lucky that I don't have kids (other than the furry kind) that I have to care for. Thus giving me the ability to devote most of my free time to the game if I desire.
  17. Between spending time in a treestand in the woods on Saturdays, and watching the NFL games and following my fantasy football team on Sundays, I don't think I will be doing much ARK during the weekends for the next 4 months. I had my fantasy football draft on Saturday (our 24th year of the league - we started it in 1994 as a way to stay in touch after college), so I spent the day prepping for and then traveling to the FFL draft. The draft and party after ran until 1am. As the Commish, I was up by 6 am Sunday morning to enter everyone's rosters onto the league website. Then I drove an hour and picked up my FFL buddy from LA who flies in every year for the draft and we drove a few hours to watch the games with another one of my buddies. So I haven't played ARK since Friday evening. Not sure I've ever gone that long without playing since I bought the game in Feb/March this year! However, when I did play last on Friday I did manage to find the two lost Argies that had just disappeared last week. I was amazed at how far from the spot of their disappearance both of them were. I also found and tame a 120 male Argy for my breeding stock. I have my settings at 5, and I haven't seen any Argies higher than 120 on my Island map. (On the Center I've tamed some 140+ birds) I spent the majority of Friday night taming 5 frogs, including a mate pair of 140's that were the absolute first and 4th frogs I even tried to tame on this map! The other two are a 72 and 40. I then spent the rest of the evening leading the parade of frogs around the swamp near the Redwoods trying to get Cementing paste and leveling up the frogs. Somehow managed to accidently kill two different 118 frogs that we ran across. But other than that it was pretty uneventful. Prior to heading out to tame the frogs, I had gone on a pearl farming adventure in the Northwest near the blue OB. I took just my best Tapejara "Spino Scare" (see previous entries for her taming story) and was farming up quite a bit. Well apparently while I was under water, a trio of Allos either spawned in, or ambled over from ARK knows where. But I pop up for air, and I am nearly face to face with a level 70 something flaming Allo and it's two best friends. I quickly dove down, and swam as fast and deep as I could. I got to my Tapejara and flew home. I then jumped on my best Anky and got him loaded with metal, and then filled up the forges. Then I headed off to tame up the frogs ....
  18. Spent last night grinding out an expansion "Flight Deck/Landing Pad" for my flyers on the Redwoods mountain base. I was able to do that as I tamed up 3 Ankys and 2 Doeds. It was a bit nerve wracking as I had 3 tames going at once, and the other two together. I got Level 100+ & 70+ Anky, that were very close to my base and traveling together. The 100+ I got 99%, but the 70+ was over 90% tamed, when a pack of Sabrecats came flying down the mountain on top of us. So she ended up at 45%. Later I got a 100+ Doed and just a mid 40's male. As I was taming them, I saw a level 92 male, and tried to tame him, but the Alpha Carno and Alpha raptor returned from earlier in the week, and kill the Doed and me. Luckily I happened to have my high health Argy with, and I was able to respawn, fly another Argy over and rescue the one before it got killed by the Alpha Carno. I then flew back to the base, grabbed my "Warrior" Argy, and went back to kick some prehistoric butt. Took out the Alpha Carno, and two Alpha Raptors. Thankfully, they were all low level, and spread out, so I only had to fight one at a time. Later I realized I was low on Cem Paste, and since I don't have a Sloth or Frogs yet, I didn't want to take on the Chitin Cave just yet. So I started flying around looking for Beaver dams to raid. I was lucky and found 4 different dams all close together, and while raiding the last one, I hear my Argy shriek, and when I come out of the water, he is no where to be found. I mean NOWHERE. This is the second time in a week this has happened to me, and BOTH times the Argy was all loaded up with resources and taming supplies. My argies are always on Neutral or Passive. (Never Aggressive), so I am not sure what happened to them. And both times it happened while I was underwater and the bird was landed on a rock or shore near me. Is this some new bug? I've never had this happen before. So because all of my ammo had been transferred to my now vanished Argy, all I had was a my melee weapon to defend myself during my long run back to base. I avoided every confrontation I could, and by some miracle made it back to the base. I then decided it was time to do something safer, so I grabbed my two Argy "Mules" and headed over to the volcano to farm Crystal and Obsidian. Filled them up, flew back to the base, and called it a night. Tonight I am going to build some transponder nodes to attache to all my flyers, so I can find them next time they vanish. (BTW, I checked the tribe log, and no Kill messages for either missing Argy) I also need to tame up some water dinos, so I can farm for BioToxin to make shocking darts. They seem to help when Quetz taming. Plus I've seen a 116 Rex not far from my base I wouldn't mind getting. I sure wish there was a land source of BioToxin. Like from scorpions, even if in much smaller quantity. While flying around this week, I noticed that my Island map has 4, yes 4 Gigas all spawned at the same time! I've never seen more than 1 at a time before, and most of the time there are no Gigas. So I really have to be careful when near the mountains.
  19. Managed to kite and tame three Level 100+ female Argies last night. One is being leveled up as a fighter, and the other 2 as heavy weight mules. Sadly I could not find a male over 100, so I will continue with that search tonight so I can begin breeding. After randomly seeing a Quetz near the Green OB each day since Friday, I decided that I would tame a Tapejara last night, and go tame the Quetz (I happened to have 12 shocking darts thanks to my brush with some Cnardia while on the beach.) Well After only 5 minutes of looking , I found a Tapejara...super low level, but I figured what the heck. Boa, Tranq and tame. As I am flying it back to the base, I see another beautiful pink/orange Tapejara Level 120! So I watched it from a distance as it flew around the area. Finally it landed, and I snuck up, bola, and tranq'd it. While waiting for it to starve a bit, I heart a noise from behind me. SPINO!!!! I get on my Ptera, and quickly kite the Spino away. I then returned to the Sleeping Tapejara, and built a protection ring of wood spikes around it. I also then snuck around the area killing all dilos or other potential threats that I could handle on foot. I even kited a Therazino away, which was scary as heck, but I used a rock and a small cliff to lose it. I then settled in for long wait of protecting the Tapejara while it tamed up. Finally he was at 99% tamed, I was so excited, then I heard it... the Spino was back, and he brought a friend (Alpha Raptor 8) with him! Nooooooooooo! I quickly took the first Tapejara (low level) and began kiting/attacking the spino and Alpha. I knew I was dealing with fire, as this low level Tapejara had barely been leveled up, and with Health and Stamina well below 750, I had to pay attention to those levels. I also knew there was no way I could kill them, so I had to do enough to buy some time for the Tapejara to finish taming. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the high Level Tapejara wake up, and I quickly flew over it and my Ptera whistling All Follow and ALL Passive. They got in the air literally as the Spino and Raptor attached thru the spike walls. each taking some damage, but they got free and we flew off to safety. As I closed in on the mountain base I notice two Scorpions stuck in a crease in the mountain, just meters from my base. I get the Ptera and Tapejaras all settled in safe at the base, and took an Argy over to investigate. Both were under level 50, but my Argy has spoiled meat in his belly, so I quickly KO'd the Scorpions and shoved in the bad meat. Knowing they were stuck in a crevice, I left them to tame up. Back at the base, did some grinding, to build greenhouse/crop plots/compost bins, and got that started with 4 Narco plots and then one for each Veggie. As it was well past my bedtime, I started to finish for the night. But then I thought... Those scorpions were awfully close to the base, and only got stopped by the crevice. I think I need a defense, and I don't want to leave all my animals on Neutral. Sooooooooo off I flew to find some Species X seeds. I had only ever found the seeds once before when I first started 6 months ago, and that was by accident. So I searched the swamp high and low. Finally I had to rest my Ptera, so I landed on a rock. Sitting there for just a few seconds, and BAM Titanboa bit me. "I'm sick of these raptoring snakes on this mother-raptoring map!" Grabbed my sword, fought the snake, and put my Ptera on Neutral before I passed out at its feet. I can hear fighting, and my Ptera kills two Dilos while I'm out. I wake up, look for my Ptera who is no longer next to me, and as I run around a rock, there is the Plant Species X ! I start to harvest it, but instead get some plants nearby with berries. Then BAM another raptoring snake! I use my sword to kill the snake, and quickly chomp on a few stimberries, that I had just gotten when trying to get the Species X seeds. Move back to the Plant, harvest the X seeds, find my Ptera and take off just as a Kapro and another snake are closing in on us. Fly back to the base, make up saddles for all the new tames, and call it a night. I still need to get those Scorpions back to base ( I forgot to check to see if they finished taming) and need to get me some Ankys and Doeds. Would also love a Mega-sloth, but all I can find are under level 20s.
  20. Here in America, most of us had a 3-day weekend due to the Labor Day holiday. I decided that I would try something new, and I created a new player and start on the Island from level 1. Thus began my ARK binge of playing nearly 9am to 11pm every day for three straight days. I spawned in on a beach not far from the Red Ob. And I happened to be on the end of a long thin penisula. So since it was a safe place, and Dilos and one Raptor where the only threats in the area, I set up shop for Base #1. I quickly tamed up some Dodos and Dilos, and began grinding. building a small base and pen. Eventually I got really lucky and had two different Ptera land right in my pen, so I was able to easily bola and knock out. I did have to kite away a level 80 something Bronto, that seemed to enjoy walking all over my base. By the end of day 2 I had a decent Trike and high level Parasaur to go along with my growing dodo/dilo army. I also tamed every one of those Lym dinos ( the little ones that give Buffs when you pet them) As day 2 ended, I was shocked to have a level 100+ Ptera land right next to me on the beach. I quickly knocked it out., and decided it was time to scout out a more center location on the map. I ended up flying "SurpriseSurprise" to the metal mountain in the Redwoods. I found a nice spot near the top, and started grinding away enough to build a taming pen to capture Argies. Once it was built enough, I took "SurpriseSurprise" out looking for an Argy. Found a 108 and a 116 mated pair, and figured this would be perfect. So swooped in to start kiting them to the pen. Suddenly BAM freaking Microraptor got me, I finally killed the low level Micro, but next thing I knew, a trio of Sabertooths shred me up. Well, as soon as spawn back in, I ran back to the location of my death to try and save my Ptera who was on Passive. As I draw nearer, I realized I had walked into a death zone. Alpha Raptor plus a few other raptors to my left. And Alpha Carno to my right, and dead ahead was a level 76 and level 52 Trexs. (Let's not forget about the damn Sabers that started this whole thing.) Needless to say, I quickly died again. Now I'm panicking, because the Ptera is still sitting near all those killer dinos. And I cannot spawn in to by bed on the mountain, because off the cooldown timer! Spawn back at Base 1 on the beach, and grab another Ptera, and race back to the Redwoods mountain. As I get to within sight of "SurpriseSurprise" I can clealy see she is taking damage. I flew over close enough to whistle her to follow, and as she starts to lift off the ground, she crumples to the floor dead. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Realizing that area is too toxic to get my body or her body inventory back, I fly back up to the top of the mountain and keep working on the base. Day 3 - I started the day with the #1 goal of having a couple Argies tamed by the end of the day. Right off the is a level 76 just meters away from my taming pen. I actually kiting him into the pen while on foot! FINALLY I have an Argy. In between kiting and taming 2 more Argies, I managed build up a respectable base. I also managed to fall down the mountain Twice. Once into the jaws of Raptor pack, and another time by those damn Sabertooths. I spent the rest of the evening killing any threat in the area. (Well except the Alpha Raptor and Carno, which somehow disappeared from the area.) Tonight will be grinding and taming resource dinos (Anklos, Doed, Phomia, etc.) I also hope to have leveled up enough to build my Argy saddles. And maybe I will try again to tame a damn Hyena. I wasted so much time the last few days trying. Damn things keep freaking out. I'm wearing Ghille, and crouching as I approach from the rear. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
  21. Spent some more time this weekend looking for Male Anklos over 100. Never did find one, but did tame up a couple +100 Doedics. Built a "landing pad" for my flyers at my breeding base, and built small base in one of the small ponds. (SE) in the river bed. That base is now the site of my two industrial cookers and crop plots, bee hive, Dung beetle cages. Protected by Adobe walls and Plant X. I probably won't be playing again until this weekend, due to the new update coming out tomorrow. Too big of a download file.
  22. For the 5th night in a row, I searched the SE map looking for a high level (100+) Anky MALE to go with my two 100+ ladies. My map is set at 5 difficulty, and I performed another DestroyWildDinos. Still no males over 70 something. I did find 2 more females over 100, but let them stay wild. I finally found a male Thorny Dragon over 100, and after a few mishaps finally got him hauled home to meet up with his new girlfriend at my breeding base. However that is when I discovered a problem, My female "Meso Thorny" dragon was no where to be found. Hmmm perplexing, as I play single player, and the base is surrounded by dino and behemoth gates.(I cannot make fence foundations snap together without gaps, so I only use gates now. I searched everywhere. If fact, I got on Red Devil, my red mutated Argy, and started to fly around the area. Then I saw her ...... floating in the air about 3 behemoth gates high up in the air! I mean she was WAAAAY up there. I have no clue how this happened, as none of the other dinos in the same pen were affected. Finally after spyglassing and whistle follow, she fell back to earth. WEIRD HUH? I also discovered that Ovis actually spawn on SE! I had just assumed that they were not available on SE, since I had never seen them before. So I scooped him up, and brought him to the breeding base. Then I realized that they changed the recipe for Sweet cakes, and I went out looking for Beehives. Well apparently those do not spawn on SE, as I spent hours looking for one. Looks like tonight, I will have to travel to the Island and raid my captive hives for honey. What a pain in the Dilo! ALSO, I posed this question in another thread about a week ago. For you PS4 players ... have you noticed a ton more color variations spawning in on wild dinos over the last 2-3 weeks? For the first 3-4 months the wild dinos were so dull and drab, but over the last couple weeks, I am seeing a lot more fun coloration spawning in.
  23. Sounds amazing ... hope you get it. Post some pics please if you do.
  24. I wasted so many resources trying to install an elevator. I could never get it to line up right. I finally gave up. Would love to hear from people with tips on how to install it. (PS4, so NO Building Mods available)
  25. So last night on my SE map, I transferred about 70 of my favorite Argies to The Island Map. On The Island, I took a couple frogs out, and went to the Chitin Cave and loaded up on Cementing paste & Chitin. I finished grinding out the Crystal I needed to build an Industrial Grinder. (I've got a ton of Loot items that I don't need, so figured might as well get some resources from them, instead of dumping.) I bred my best female Quetz to the only male I have (only a level 26) Then I transferred that C.P. ,my best frog, and the Quetz egg along with a couple blue prints to my S.E. Map. Once back on S.E., I did the "DestroyAll Argent_Character_bp_C" to get rid off my left over Argy breeding stock, and hopefully all of the argies that hatched underneath the world. What didn't realize is that it doesn't leave their saddles/inventory behind, so I just lost about 50 saddles. But they were just the primative versions. Prior to command, my tame count was 366. After the command, it dropped to 69! I knew I had a ton of Argies, but didn't realize I had nearly 400 (when you add in the 70 I had previously transferred to The Island) Hatched the Quetz egg, and did some grinding to build some more Adobe structure parts (going to build a new base near the Green OB.) then I went out and tamed a couple Jerboas. Took forever, as I could only find males. Finally when I was going to give up, I found 3 females together out in the desert to the east. Tonight I plan on starting to clear out the spot to build the new base. After building the new base, I will go back to my old base (in the mountains near the Red OB) and retro fit it, to be more accessible by my dinos when they are loaded with Metal and other resources.
