  1. My tribemate's little outpost was raided the other day and they killed our fairly high level she-bear. So we want another obviously. Well our tribe's quetzel died a week or so ago because no one bothered to check food levels. It's wasn't the world's best quetz or anything, but it made things a lot easier as we only have argies to carry anything now. Fast forward to last night... tribemate wants to get more bears. We throw together a quick taming pen. He insisted we didn't need bear traps and didn't want to farm the mats for them. We decide to try our luck and see what we can do with 2 people and 2 birds. Took a while to find a bear over level 20 and we stumbled into a 150! Fantastic! Tried to kite it around with the argy. Bad plan. The 150 bear hit like a truck. Barely got it up the little canyon to our pen. So I went to murder things to try to heal up. Found 3 theri's and a yuti waaaaay too close for comfort. Tribemate helps me get rid of those. Time to rinse and repeat this bear kiting attempt. Tribemate decides to hoof it and try to kite the thing on foot. 2 shot dead, bear has hardly moved. Finally we get the stupid thing in the pen and get the door closed. Wait... that sound isn't good. We forgot bears break wood. Raptor it now we have an angry bear on the loose. Got enough darts in him to make him run. So we try chasing him down. Tribe mate runs out of darts. Bear is super close to dropping. I've been so preoccupied chasing this stupid thing that I didn't realize I had drawn the aggro of 4 more bears. I hop back on my bird and escape, but my tribemate wasn't so lucky. He and his bird are bear food. Logged after that without a bear. Plus side, I found a lot more bee hives that are reachable since we haven't tamed a bee yet. Silver lining I guess.
  2. I finally ventured out of single player into server land. I joined our friend's small tribe, I make 4 of us. Already decided that I'm too neurotic to stay at the main base or any of their outposts since they are boys and wreck everything. So tonight will hopefully be me leveling up enough to do some serious taming, I still don't have narc arrows so unless someone else is on I'm stuck with a club and a sling shot. Once I get on my feet I'm off to create my own little haven where the boys don't steal stuff off me while I sleep.
  3. I got super lucky this weekend. I've been exploring Ragnarok and I happened upon a Griffin near a cliff with lots of rocks. The poor thing was stuck. I tranq'ed the hell out of it, so now I have a new pet named Reese Puff. I don't think I'll ever get that luck again. Half an hour later I'm heading up into the Redwoods from the Highlands and spot a low flying quetz. I've never seen one that was low enough to shoot from the ground. Ever. Start chasing after it on my pony. It too gets stuck in a cliff and after that was a super easy tame. I also found a really pretty red Rex. Low level, but he's beautiful and I loves him. Then I found a mid-level Spino with a neat purple-edged sail and feet and got a few nice saddle blueprints from random drops, purple iguanodon and blue sabertooth. Now would be about the time I expect a random giga or titanosaur encounter. Something has to balance out all the awesome. It is Ark after all.
  4. Well I finally got to play some last night. I have a now 3 month old baby in real-life so playing at all is some small miracle plus I play on my hubby's Xbox so I have to wait for him to be at work or asleep. I used to play almost nightly while I was pregnant. Anyway.... I'm trying to build up enough dino friends to help me take on this Alpha Rex that is camped at the north end of the Western Coast just north of my current base. I really want to start building in an exploring the snow biome, but Mr. Glowy-Redbutt is in my way. I finally found a mate for Theo, my male theri, so I took them and my mobile-base bronto Baxter out to find some more dino bullies. I am an EXTREMELY casual player and I really don't like the guns or things like that in this game, so I took my trust crossbow and downed 2 rexes that ate the spinos I had set out to tame. Lucky for me both were male (I already have Roxie my beautiful green lady rex) and both are really pretty colored. Light green bellies with orange-y mid coloring and dark green on top. I have my taming speed boosted so it only took me about an hour and a half to starve those guys down and tame them up. Got to meet my first pylorvia while waiting around. Theo took care of that and the little army of troodons and microraptors. Maybe I shouldn't have been hunting in the river between the redwoods and the volcano. Found another spino further up river, so that's my mission next time I can get some play time in. Ark is by far the best way to entertain yourself while breastfeeding, ha.
