  1. There is both flee logic and wander logic. For some reason I couldn't find the function that gives the wander target, but I think I found the one that does the flee. I'll dig into that and see if that gives me a clue as to what is going on. Using the awesome spyglass you can see the pela turn yellow when hit, which means it's trying to flee, but it can't because it can't find a valid target. The flee target is obviously found the same was the wander target. I'm assuming the flying dinos and land dinos probably use the same logic to find a target location to move to
  2. Except they aren't, as you can clearly see from the video above. They don't react from damage at all. They only react when they get close enough to land. In the dev kit there is some distances related to wandering. A wander fixed distance and a wander random distance. I assume there must be something in there somewhere which also indicates that the target must be near land, but maybe if that random distance was increased a huge amount it might allow them to find a spot close to land.
  3. After some more testing, I've just realized this is a flyer issue. Not a pelagornis issue. I decided to fly out to the edge of the map where the pelagornis were stuck and spawn a pteranadon there. They exhibited the same behaviour. The reason no one notices this is because none of them naturally spawn out there.
  4. I tried this years ago, it didn't work then, I'm trying again now. I've installed the dev kit, open it, just a few warnings, that's fine. Can browse around. As soon as I try to open a BP for a dino the output log is flooded with errors about 'can't find this file, can't find that file' The whole editor locks up and it doesn't seem to be progressing. How exactly do you make this work so you can actually do anything? Is there some setup or something I need to run first?
  5. The mod with the blood moon in it adds a bit of that, but honestly it's still way too easy to avoid it (just build your base on stilts and set up like 1 turret). The problem in Ark is that higher tier bases are immune to most things, so unless you're going to be dropping gigas, alpha rexes and corrupted wyverns on top of people's bases every night, it's hard to simulate any real risk. There was an NPC village mod I saw awhile back, but I don't think it was very detailed and they just spawned around a small village you could kill them and raid.
  6. We have a dedicated server ran through Ark server manager. We noticed all these pelagornis just floating above the water. It turns out that if they spawn too far from land they can't navigate and bug out. We need to alter their spawners so that they spawn close enough to land to behave properly. Has anyone already fixed this or is this something that can be done? Video of bugged pelagornis: Video of one being fixed, I did this numerous times and it worked each time, so this is clearly the issue
  7. Just use ark server manager locally. You can easily host your own server on your own machine and play. There is no performance impact, had 2 friends on with me yesterday and no issue.
  8. Ran into a weird issue here. I have a number of servers running on ASM. Until now, they've all been fine, all give the rates I want, use the same setting on like 7 servers. Today I fired up a new copy of the island, copied over my settings from one of my other servers, and got in. Everything seemed fine until we found this level 5 trike that a snake knocked out. We tamed it up, took it back to our base, and tried to harvest berries. 1 swipe = max weight, filled the trike up, over 1000 berries. Parasaur/moschops same deal. Massive berry hauls. I got the trike into a position to swipe a single plant. It pulled in like 125-150 berries from just 1 plant. However when it hits a tree, it's about where we want, hit a tree, got 60 thatch. Seems about right. Raptor harvesting a dino seems to give the correct amount of stuff we want, players harvesting things all seems about right. Right amount of wood, thatch, fiber, resources from dead dinos, berries a hand gathering seems to get about 13 total. Any insight as to what is going on here? These rates are identical to all my other servers, and I was just playing on the fjordur one last week and I know I wasn't getting berries anywhere near that easily. I've gone through the settings multiple times and can't find anything out of place. Player Harvesting damage: 1 Dino Harvesting damage 3.2 Environment Harvest amount 2.25 Use optimized harvesting health = false Harvest health 1 Custom harvest amount multipliers = false The only mods installed are awesome spyglass, dino storage, and super structures.
  9. Jat, why can't I reply to anything or post suddenly? I just joined, verified, wrote a couple replies, and suddenly the reply option is missing from every thread.
