    5th Titan

That is amazing looking. Good work.
  2. Yeah Wilde, preaching to the choir, bud. I agree! But as long as a META exists, what can be done?
  3. I would argue that ARK was designed for PvP. I feel like it's pretty clear, but I personally do not think that the developers intended on Call of Duty with dinosaurs. Intent aside, that is what official PvP feels like. Also, PvP players don't want balance. They want the gamebreaking dinos and items to remain untouched because if they know about them and the tribe they are raiding doesn't, they have a very, very, very clear advantage. Argue against this point all you want, but few PvP players want to go up against an enemy that they have a perfect 50/50 shot at defeating. They want a powershift dynamic to keep victory certainly attainable for one, and for two, the salty tears that come from griefed/harassed players are always better when you (as the aggressor) know that with 100% certainty there is no possible way in hell the tribe you are attacking can do anything to stop you. If you achieve true balance, then there will be a clear point in base-hardening where you have no less-hardened of a base than a mega-tribe (I define base hardness as like, ease of raiding). How many people who PvP would want the game closer to that 50/50 chance where most of the time a raid could go either way because there is no 100% game-changing powershift thing like a Titan or a MEK or a Tek Tapej or a Mana or whatever it is? I think more people than not (the majority) would vote in favor of keeping the items that clearly define victory, because only the people getting attacked are interested in balance.
  4. I believe the bolded is our answer. We are not given a reason to believe that the ARKs physical infrastructures have now been altered by TOWW, and the drop distribution systems are built directly into the ARK's overseer-observation platforms. The explorer note authors were warriors or biologists, so I chalk the non-mention up to: they were concerned with documenting other things like plant and animal life, or targets of conquest and achievements.
  5. Element is nothing though. On 2x, with the right dinos on Ext you are sitting with thousands of it. I bet the devteam recognized this and decided to go after the damage it causes instead.
  6. Usually every week, there is 2x Harvest/Tame/XP starting on Friday and ending on Monday (they specify the time it starts and end), also very occasionally they will give us 2x or 3x breeding events. Once a year they have been doing this ExtraLife charity thing, for the last 2 years running, and during the once a year event they raise rates based on charity-donated money for a day or two! They cap that once-a-year event at 8x rates (if enough money is donated), and we've seen it cap out both years. 8x gathering is always insane, I don't remember what else applies to the 8x but I'm pretty sure it wasn't breeding.
  7. *Giggles in American* ... JK Saltire... no offense meant, just joshing.
  8. So, once again, are we getting set up for a last-minute tweet about how Valguero is excluded from the 2x event? It says all servers, just like the last announcement, and official network, just like the last announcement, and 2x tame/harvest/XP, just like the last announcement. The ARK playerbase is not stupid to assume you guys mean Valguero too, and honestly will have license to be irritated if the Friday morning tweet pops out saying "VALGUERO EXCLUDED, JAYKAY ON 2X PEOPLES". @Cedric?
  9. The quills are just decoration, they have no use with leftclick, rightclick, c, or x. I have several imprinted ones now, and they mature quickly so they definitely don't eat (or hold meat) like Gigas. Really nothing does, thankfully (tuso and mosa have much higher weight stats so they stabilize quicker). As far as color regions, I'm not sure: Maybe arkpedia has some extra info about it? I will say that once you get a decent amount of points in melee, they will bring the pain. If you save some stamina, you can generally flee pretty easily from things that you load up with some bleeds. I was disappointed to find out that you can't latch on to Wyverns though... I thought that would be great. Yet strangely you can latch on to Argies, which are far smaller.
  10. Unfortunately, no roar. They do have neat chirpy noises and such, and they run fast! This morning, my 135 and twin-145s finished on Official, and I've been taking them out killing stuff. They shred stuff pretty well, but have fairly low HP pools so after 3 packs of Allos, all 3 were a bit beat up. Still got the job done though! Also, their jumping has a strange delay to it, but so far the wall-leapups have been good for me. And, no fall damage! The pounce-grip on bigger dinos eaaaats up stamina if you spam bites while attached, but with my pack of 3 things don't last long. Info for ya: 5 hour egg incubation, and (my own crappy calculations) baby phase is ~3.88 hours (call it 4), total maturation is ~39 hours from hatch. 25% per imprint on 1x breeding rates, with about 3-4% slack on each imprint (first imprint is at about 22% maturation). EDIT: Additionally about incubation, they have infinite egg "health" due to being spawned wild (like Wyvern and Rock Drake eggs). So if its "Too Hot" or "Too Cold," egg health stays at 100 making it easier to incubate them with campfires.
  11. Good god Salty. That blows. Aberration all the way! That map is challenging as it is beautiful. I don't play on your cluster, but that is my vote as a random know-nothing forumgo-er. What I did in ARK today: Mourned the bugged loss of a Ab Megalosaurus, died with food in trough in Adolescence. Boooooooo.....
  12. But there are no boats in ARK. It's ok, people can just agree to disagree. What I said is how I feel. I won't change the way you feel and you wont change the way I feel. As I said before, cool artwork though!
  13. It's a good drawing, that isn't the point. The point is different. It's a very convenient time to be reminding ARK players about boats and pirates, too much of a coincidence if you ask me. I guess grats on the mention? But my point remains the same.
  14. What is this pirate stuff with ships and such on the ARK website... Come on. We are here for dinos, not point-claim islands.
  15. First is the Snow Owl painting. Second is the Tapejara on the Center. Third is Raptor and Argy. Spino thing is cool, but just like the other fanart Spino a few Fridays ago: Just a Spino with some fadeout to a layer behind. And the Winter thing is a grab at GoT's popularity, so pandering. Do one with a Fire Wyvern and some random artwork-theme from Avengers too.
  16. They are not. Nothing in that announcement says anything about an upcoming rollback of 7 days, so that is hearsay. At this point, even 7 days wouldn't restore my decayed Ab server, but it might help some people I guess.
  17. Lot of people are saying "add it to the main game." Please do not do this. It would basically waste all that is Prim+, because given the choice on live servers between Prim+ stuff or normal Tek/Metal tier ARK, 90+% of everyone will just build with the Tek/Metal (non-Prim+). Prim+ is cool because of the challenge it presents, and the change to the game. If you can't just FIX it in place using the total-conversion framework, then make it a mod, support it, update it, and make it work. Actually, just fix it and update it. The load-time is a bummer for sure, but that is very low on the list of complaints and issues with Prim+ at the moment. EDIT: Having more options that are just options (and many Prim+ engrams are purposely designed to add difficulty to the game, in a different way than the normal ones) will just make it confusing and seem too bloated. Please don't just add it all to the main game.
  18. If its on PC, xBox, PS4, Switch, or even Mobile, you gots to ARK. Just GOTS TO. Ok, maybe not Mobile...
  19. Is there any kind of source for this? I'd like more information as a Switch fan myself, I am genuinely curious!
  20. Depending on his server Chipsy, it wouldn't do any good! The majority of Rag and Center servers are at cap or hovering very very near. Be it dino salesmen trying to force sales (I have personally seen this: "KILL YOUR DINOS AND BUY MINE LOL! YOU CAN'T TAME ANYWAYS LOL!!1"), a hostile player tossing out enough cryopods to over-cap the server (seen this too, someone was Dev wiped for holding the server hostage with un-cryo-death), or just a plethora of barns and tamers (a lot of people actually play this friggin game!), many of those very-popular servers see "too many tamed creatures" when people try to tame. Even many Island servers are at or near cap, as are some Scorched Earth servers and EVEN some Extinction (the new DLC map) servers.
  21. Not trying to be overly priggish Bazookajack... But the real story is: Players: A breeding event would be nice. WC: OK, we will give you doodz 3x breeding for 4 days and 2x taming/gathering through the weekend. Players: Wow, that is awesome! WC, in the 11th hour and 59th minute: Actually... Naah. No taming/gathering. Players: Ummm... Why... ? WC: ................................ EDIT: Using the rationale that chocolates make 1x tames as effective as 2x tames (so therefore the cancellation of 2x is justified) is inaccurate. It gets it close, but isn't as good sadly. I had a really good event so far, tamed many things, some hilariously colorful stuff! But it is the unexplained rug-pulling about the 2x that people are most likely to be bent about, and that is what I tried to convey. I hope you understand.
  22. The kibble rework is decent, but walled behind a DLC. It should use materials (or substitutes) available on every map, not locked to Extinction or forcing people to buy Gachas off of the damn trading forums. ...... But also... I am asking both of you (and anyone else reading this) @SaltyMonkey and @ShadowAngel: Honestly, why are you under the impression that requiring a few less dinos will mean that people will magically tame fewer dinos? The argument can be made that the kibble rework by itself negatively impacts the tamecap situation. They encourage people to have less "game maintenance" tames and have more pleasure/battle tames by reducing maintenance overhead for taming, therefore making it EASIER to tame, again therefore increasing accessibility to more tames. ..... I really hope one of you responds with an explanation of how the entire PvE ARK community decided to tame less dinosaurs. I'm serious you guys, the kibble rework will not affect the tamecap in the way that you two are thinking. No one will tame less overall creatures... They will instead tame DIFFERENT creatures totaling to the same amount.
  23. I gotcha QC, but the description on the store page has not likely been edited since going up. I feel like there is precedent to trust the more up-to-date information, including the original post in the thread we are talking in right this very second, that says they will release more ARK expansions. Understanding that expansions could mean mod-style maps (MANY good candidates, Crystal Isles, Amissa, Volcano, Valguero, all sooo good!), or canon-ARKs, and factoring in the raspy and distorted "I am coming for you" at the end of Extinction's cinematic as we see the purple oby... I am betting on more canon-story ARKs!
