I believe this has to do with the carno hitbox, when running after a pego (which do has high health for a little pest ), the carno's aoe isn't very large so it could be you where not actually hitting it. Good that you killed the thief, karma is a thing in ark

Yeah, i get that, i love reading your adventures to, but aswell as you, i'm bound to another life aswell i play sp now because i can't play on regular base anymore.

Day 2 on our server, R had been busy while i was offline and build a bigger wooden base in the form of a silo, with a dino pen on the ground level. This meant that the small shack would be converted in a crafting shed. Finished the small building and tamed a 116 dilo and 116 dodo while gathering wood. (yes our max level is 120, i like these numbers more than the 150 ) Meanwhile R wanted to explore the cave entrance near our beach as the scorpions from the day before where gone. After a few minutes he was confused again He came in a underground city and saw to his surprise that a spino was living there R ran out of that cave faster than the wind, not understanding how that massive spino could have gotten in there. I told him they spawn in there which was andwered by some kind of mumbling saying scorpions and spider are bad enough Once the shack was finished we thought of starting a small garden to produce kibble with the gathered eggs. Me and R set out on our island to find a phiomia for poop production. The inland of the island is a very rocky place where you contantly have to watch out for sabers, allo's, scorpions etc. This means that you try to get on the top of the rocks to scout the perimeter before advancing. Needless to say it was very time consuming but we wouldn't stand a chance wearing hide armor and a bow After about an hour of searching R found a phiomia nearly at the other side of the island behind the redwoods. I was scouting the beaches and was to far away to help. It's a low level however and taming didn't take a long time. The coming back to base with it however took a lot longer. R was doing his normal complaining of the phiomia always running out of stamina. Meanwhile i had set up some medium crop plots and gathered berry's to feed the phiomia and make more narcotics. R finally returned with it and had named it "Poop o Matic 3000" Just a typical name for him I planted the seeds and put the poop in the plots, cooked up some meat and logged of for the night. R however continued playing a little bit and apparently a saber had come to our base and destroyed the compost bin. This meant i had to log in this morning to fill the plots with poop again and start the fertilizer production all over Just a normal day, after a visit from our "friendly" neighbors This evening i hope to build a nice boat to make scouting the coasts easier.

Last night i finally finished tweaking my server to the stats i wanted (Grif's lair 18+ PVE modded (EU server)) so me and my friend R started playing for real. We are on the shigo islands map and while testing the stats we were on the easy island, however since it got boring there, we decided to take a medium spawn this time We spawned on the north-west island and started the basic look-around for a temporary thatch hut. While looking on the beach i saw 2 scorpions, 2 sabers and an argent. Clearly this will be a much more dangerous spot than the other island but on the plus side, there is mountain very close to go get metal/crystal and obsidian pretty fast We got to work on our shack when R suddenly asked for help. Apparently one of the scorpions had come to our side of the beach, stung him and he fell unconscious on one of the cliffs. Armed with only one spear and a few cloth armor, i closed in on R's position. I was relieved to see that the scorpion was heading back to his side of the beach so i let it be and continued building our wooden shack. (the castles mod let's you build in wood starting level 5 ) Once the crafting room was finished i noticed it was getting late so was just about to log off when R said something very confusing happened. I walked out our little shack and right outside there was a pteranodon laying unconscious. It took me a while to understand this because we had no means to knock it out so it couldn't have been R. Then it hit me, the pteranodon has also met our "friendly" neighbors (scorpions). flew away and then got knocked out falling right at our door. It was only a level 12 sadly so we did the humain thing of eating it and using the hide for some armor this evening we will continue our work on the temp. base and maybe try to tame the female 96 scorpion as a guard on a side note: i'm very happy with the experience tweaks i made. more exp is needed on low levels but less on higher levels (60-80) so everything evens out in the end. With the building i did so far i only made it to level 12 (2*3 wooden shack with some extra foundations layed to make some living quarters)

My evening yesterday consisted of nothing more than setting up my own rented server (finally). Make a steam-group, separate e-mail for people to be able to contact me for updates etc. This evening i will start on project one: a small safe haven for starting players, where they can reside and gather materials before settling in a spot it will also have a small equus ranch, which i grant as a gift to starting players (no really high levels tho). Now all i need is people to join

You nailed it there, roadkilled porcupine lol. Should you be interested in a new server to tryout, haunted-isle is still looking for players, it's 3x xp/gathering/ tame, breeding is on normal speed. there are some mods like glass metal and eco-trees but nothing game breaking it's pvpve and exists for over a year and is still going. (btw, it's not my server and i'm not even an admin on it ) hope you try it out

The weekend wasn't particularly eventful, i finished my base, placing nice metal glass railings on all the walls, constructed an industrial forge (man the burning of metal took forever, so i'm very glad i finally got one), and bred/raised a pteranodon, it didn't get the wanted stats from the parents (lowest stamina sigh...) but it was a female so kept it for eggs and a spare search and rescue mount Yesterday evening was a bit more eventful and frustrating due to my own noobishness , i ventured out to find me a baryonix. After scouting the whole central river (center map) without seeing any, i went looking at the swamp. At the edge of the swamp saw a spino, looked at his level, a 135!!! this is the highest spino i've ever seen on the center so decided to tame it. I kited this beast all the way from the swamp to my taming penn near skull island, which took about 40mins of chewing through every turtle it saw. (for some reason these are the only animals where the spino completely ignores you) With the spino inside the taming pen i flew to my main base for kibble and extra narcotics and arrows. Flew back and started shooting the spino. Then my noobishness reached a new height. While shooting i saw the spino get bloody but instead of checking my x-bow i thought, it may have lost some health while fighting everything. Then the dreadful message: You killed a 135 spino!!! Then it hit me, i was shooting normal arrows which i had equipped the night before to protect me from an onyc attacking me on skull island... Needless to say that i was very pissed at myself for such a stupid mistake. Nothing to be done about it, changed all arrows into narcotic arrows and ventured out again looking for a nice tame. No baryonix worth levelling sadly but i did find a 140 carno which after the tame came out with a whopping 40 levels on health. This is a great starter to breed with :). Went out again and found a high level female scorpion with nice colors: all black with pink legs. Lastly i went looking for parasaurs for imprinting kibble (always searching for 130+ to keep me from hoarding) and found a male 140 and female 140 in about 10mins. In the end i was pleased with the overall outcome but that spino mistake will hunt me for a while tho...

I've had a pretty good evening yesterday. I helped someone make 2000 narcotics, which he rewarded with about 300 walls, 200 ceilings and 100 pillars he had laying around This gave me the courage to finally continue work on my water pen, making the walls complete and walkable, not just a single wall sticking out of the water. While building i continued to check for scorpion eggs (i really want me some rex's) but sadly no scorpion eggs. My one female therizino does continue her "dodo-imitation", she gave gave me 6 eggs on 3hrs I'm seriously considering looking for a dino-psychologist now . Then a tribemember asked me if i had bola's, because he was stalking a 150 ptera flying just over the water at the redwoods. I quickly got on "blue night" (my trusted cyan/dark grey colored argent) with some bola's and joined him at the redwoods. The pteranodon wasn't going to make out life easy however. Instead of landing at the redwood coast, it chose to travel over the ocean to secluded island. Once over secluded island it looked like it was going to land, so i landed a bit further to be ready to bola this bird. Again the ptera refused to land and continued further, in the direction of jungles south. Secluded island is a safe place for us and i wanted to have it down right there, so i ran after it throwing my first bola, but missed. I quickly tried a second shot at it (the ptera was allready further away) and despite of thinking i wasn't going to hit because of the distance, the ptera was downed. It was by far the luckiest and most impressive bola-throw i've ever done We tamed the pteranodon and made my tribemate a saddle. Next he wanted to check for a 150 turtle as we have the kibble (he want's to tame a squid). I decided to help him with the search, so off we went. After about an hour of searching and not finding anything above 130 we gave up the search. I checked the time and being 10PM i was thinking of doing some fishing before going to bed, when another tribemember said a rex was near her base on jungle south. I've always been on the lookout for a higher rex on jungle south because i have a taming pen there which i also used for my spino. Checked it's level and indeed, a lvl 125. At that moment i was cursing the ark god's to give me that rex now, but thought by myself "tomorrow is friday so i can go with a little less sleep " I kited the rex into the pen, shot it down and did a very noob thing in the process. The rex was half in the rocks next to the penn and couldn't see it decently so shot one more time while it was allready stumbling before falling. This has cost me some levels on the rex, but she still came out a lvl 170 tame on 2 kibble and prime. Put the rex in the pen and checked one last time for egg's before going to bed. Guess what... the scorpions now decided to give me an egg... i swear sometimes the ark-gods have a strange sense of humor

I had a fruitful evening yesterday. Let me give some history first: I play on an unofficial server pvpve (Haunted-Isle) which is basically a server with some mods (ecotrees, NC building and glass metal) but without the insane gathering, xp etc rates (all 3x). I'm setup on a small island with a bridge going to southern jungles where the main admin base is. On my island which is completely walled off, i keep a small egg-farm (a couple of every kibble i want) and live with the rule that every common dino has to be 130+ to tame (to keep me from hoarding dino's ) On the server i'm known to be the nice guy helping those that are in need and am proud of it With the new center update and eel's being added to them, i thought "it really is time for a basilosaurus" and my first attempt at this using my mosa to clear most of the sea was a failure because i kept hitting the whale with my mosa's AOE which resulted in losing the taming progress and not having enough therizino kibble left. Yesterday evening i got 2 eggs at once from my female theri (i swear sometimes i think she believes she is a dodo ) so had enough kibble to go for a second try. The patch update was going to be for today so it was then or not i believed. I took my mosa and began swimming around the undeep parts of the center ocean eating my way through dozens of sharks, manta's and piranha's. Swimming with a mosa on these shallows feels like driving a bus on nitro through a small village with roads meant for bicycles lol. After searching for about an hour and a half, the highest level i had found was a lvl 90 and since i really wanted one i decided to tame it. The tame went very smooth this time (should be as my mosa ate every creature in a 5 mile radius and was even nearly encumbered on fish meat ). I only had to shoot one manta and a piranha with my ascendant crossbow. Then came the hardest part of the whole tame, getting it and my mosa home. Getting stuck on ichty's trying to eat the fish-remnants between my mosa's teeth and having to double back because the poor basilo couldn't keep up, as well as fighting my way through newly spawned sharks and manta's. I also got lost at one point because it was getting dark, making me wish i had an angler fish with me to show the way. Finally home i checked my new addition: 15k health and 275% melee after putting in some points it had earned riding along with my mosa. It's nowhere near strong enough to fight alpha's but strong enough to venture the sea so i'm quite happy. (stamina does seem low sadly) After this tame i did some chores around the base (getting metal, filling throughs...) i'm a one man base so i need to do everything myself and finished my evening fishing for coel's at my fishing spot on my bridge with my only ascendant rod (granted to me when helping someone in need). I absolutely love the fishing because it's a great way to end a stressful ark evening. Got 2 big hauls out of it which resulted in a MC argent saddle bleuprint, several JM saddles, scuba mask and flippers and a near complete set of Ghillie BP's. All in all a great evening, if only the ark gods would give me a 130+ bary this evening i would slaughter a sheep in their honour PS: small edit, i found 134 megalodon teeth in my mosa's inventory after getting home lol
