  1. This spider was never designed to be on a specific map and have always been imagined with variants on every maps. So the original concept can be submitted to every map and doesn't fit a map better than another. And never forget one thing : Ark is a game. Everything is possible so every creature can fit any maps.
  2. Rule n°1 for the comments should be :
  3. I think it can be cool to make it able to jump above the water. It can use the Ark Addition Xiphactinus feature to be able to survive on land by jumping.
  4. Congratulation to the Yi-qi winning. Also want to note that the top 10 selection has improved and it allows to have a great top 10 for this vote.
  5. Personally, I will propose it for all the submissions. If it gets regularly in top 10 and finish in the top 3 at the end, it will give a good reason to WildCard to include it into the game as a bonus creature and also on all maps. I don't know a lot of creatures that finished in the top 3 several times except the gigantoraptor.
  6. I personally think that Aberration is more oppressive than terrifying. Except the Reaper which is terrifying, everything else is kinda 'normal'. Rock drake and basilisk can surprise you but aren't terrifying. And light pets are cute But this spider is great whatever the map. This spider can also fit genesis very well with the hypnosis ability (same kind of ability as the noglin)
  7. If this spider wins, I just hope it will be both a shoulder pet and a mount depending the gender
  8. For the creature submission, you propose a creature and people vote for it. The person who proposed creature doesn't matter and so you can submit several submissions. Sounds to me quite strange that you can only participate in only one submission. After all, every one can suggest ideas for every submission. That's also justify that submissions can be merged if several persons propose the same creature. I understand that some people want a vote for both the creature design and creature abilities. In this case, several submissions can be a little bit unfair. But that's not the case. Every submission will be reworked by WC to fit Ark so no need to worry about making several submissions Personally, I think that's the votes that should choose the top 10. If the cheetah made it into the top 10, that's not because it was posted by someone specifically but because people liked it. I am disappointed that all these votes for the cheetah were ignored just because you decided alone 😕 What's done is done and I understand your choice. I am just sharing my thought on it. If you're able to provide several submissions with well designed creature and good abilities, I personally would love it
  9. There is one point you are missing. The vote system on the forum for the top 10 selection, before this one, was unreliable and previous top 10 selection were completely broken. Making good creatures that deserve a win not being able to go into the top 10. Before this creature submission, many submissions were just ignored and never had a chance to get into the top 10 while deserving it. As a concrete example, this spider finished in the top 10 for scorched earth and finally get at the second or third place in the final vote (depending the round of the Ranked Vote system). But did you see it in the last top 10 for ragnarok along with the gigantoraptor who had similar votes ? No. This creature, while the final vote of Scorched earth clearly show the creature was appreciated, didn't deserve its chance just because of the creature submission voting system. The top 10 for ragnarok was set in few hours after the opening and every other submissions were simply ignored just because they were 'too late'. My final point : if the top 10 selection was correctly done before this one, popular creatures will have already won and won't need several try. And I clearly think that's the case for this spider. It just should have won before and free the space for other creatures as you want
  10. Creatures in Ark can be used on all maps so this is better to think how the proposed creature can improve the overall experience of Ark and not only one map. Also, Aberration is a particular map with no flyer and narrow ways. I don't really see a big creature on this map. About how much people will use the creature, that's the reason of the vote for me. If the players choose the creature they want, they will mostly play with it. It depends. WC can make the creature very close to the original concept if they want. The desmodus and fasolasuchus are very close to the submission both in design and abilities. If the original concept is balanced, WC will certainly make less changes. So moderate submissions are more reliable somehow than super badass submissions.
  11. I have 2 suggestions. First, I think that gliding+wall jump is too powerful on Aberration and should be limited to the rock drake only. Maybe, instead of wall jump, a super jump or being able to make a second jump while in the air can be better. I also think the wall jump will fit more Aberration and will make this creature less used on other maps where a good scout can be appreciated. Secondly, as most of his abilities are based on light, I would limit his abilities to be used only at night on other maps than Aberration. It will make this owl the second nocturnal creature to have a boost on Aberration with the megalosaurus.
  12. Aberration contains 4 apex creatures (reaper, rock drake, basilisk and karkinos). Adding a powerful creature again can severely impact the balance end experience. Having this spider as a moderate creature, small enough to be used easily on Aberration, is a good point. As you said, ravagers are useful while not being a game changer. No need to introduce a game changer in the game, just a fun and original creature is enough
  13. Yes and this concept also make it an apex predator (scare + swallow) so no need to worry about the danger of Aberration and the spawn. But this same concept makes the amphibian at least 2.5 times the size of a rockdrake. Even if you can climb, it will be too large to climb on mushrooms or some surfaces and will have difficulties moving in the caves, forests or near cliffs. If it becomes a pain to play with on Aberration like the basilisk, it will be sad 😑
  14. Really cool submission. I want to add a warning if this creature is included on the Aberration map. The Aberration map is a very particular map that uses verticality and have few safe water areas and lot of dangerous creatures around. The basilisk is a 'relatively bad tame' (compare to a spino for example) on Aberration for example due to not being able to benefit of vertical mobility, high fall damage, slow and high turn radius. What I mean is if this amphibian is included on Aberration, it might be useless as the map doesn't offer a lot of possibilities for a big water creature. Some examples of cons I see about having this amphibian on Aberration : water spawn rare or not available due to karkinos spawn or other surrounding dangers unable to protect the amphibian due to being slow on land and unable to climb (ravager can use zip line, roll rat can move fast with the saddle, basilisk is powerful, ...) abilities not aggressive enough to survive on Aberration size not fitting the environment I don't want to be pessimistic but just a think to keep in mind to avoid a good creature to be wasted on a wrong map. Also, a glowing amphibian can fit any map. Glowing creatures exists nowadays so no need to limit this creature to the Aberration submission
  15. My Aberrration suggestion for this spider. Global : The spider will be early-mid game creature that focus on taming and exploration (PvE) and disable (PvP). The spider can be used in late game due to ability power scaling on some stats. The suggestion features: A shoulder-light-pet male A female that creates and use zip lines An interactive taming/breeding with a dance Spider description : Female big and rideable can walk fast on zip lines, can't walk on walls/ceiling but can be attached to any surface able to set a zip line anchor, can jump Abilities Cast net with lock on : the spider can jump on a single creature (on land or flying) and trap the creature in a net. The creature will be completely disabled (can't move nor attack nor use abilities) as long as the female keep the net. To keep the net, the female will consume food over time and not stamina. The speed stat, instead of increasing movement speed, will increase the max drag weight of the creature that can be trapped. The ability doesn't do any damage and have a long cooldown (around 1 min). The ability can be used on a zip line. Biological zip line : The female can create a zip line from her current location and move along the created zip line. The created zip line is temporary and will disappear after some time. The speed stat increases the speed at which the spider moves on the zip line and increases the duration of the created zip line. The created zip line benefit from all the features of the base zip line (motor, creatures that can use it, ...). When arriving to an end of the zip line which is not the ground, the female will stay attachd to the surface without being able to move except by jumping or creating a new zip line. The female can use all this features with all the zip lines, hatever the zip line was created by herself, another spider or a player. Female dance : The female can perform a dance that scares small to medium creatures. The female can't use the venom ability and can't induce torpor in any way. Wild behavior The female will be aggressive toward unconscious creatures only. If attacked, the female will flee unless there is at least one male spider around. When the female flees, she will use her dance to scare the attackers if possible. When the female attacks a creature, she will use her cast net ability on the attackers. Tamed behavior The cast net ability can be used only when rided. She will be able to lock on targets in range (~30-50 m). The dance ability can be used when rided to benefit of the scare effect. The dance ability can be activated without a rider but the dance will not have the scare effect. The dance without a rider will be purely for the fun. Male small and shoulder-light-pet can walk on every surface and on zip lines, can't jump except with his abilities Abilities Venom : the spider can jump on a creature and inflict torpor. The ability will do very few damage except if used against an unconscious creature. The melee stat will increase the torpor inflicted by the ability. The ability have a long cooldown. Grappling hook when on shoulder Male dance : the male can dance to tame a female spider or for the mating. The male can't use the cast net ability. Wild behavior The male will be aggressive toward unconscious creatures and small to medium creature (human at max). The males will also be aggressive if a female spider around is attacked. If attacked, the male will engage the attacker with the other male spider around. Tamed behavior The venom ability can be used only when on the shoulder. When the venom ability is used, the male spider will jump on the target and return to the player if on passive. The dance ability can be activated when on the ground and can't be used on the shoulder. The dance ability can be used to tame a female, mate with a female or for the fun. Spawn in the wild : The spider spawn in a group with 2 to 5 males and 0 to 1 female. On Aberration, this spider spawn in the walls. You can see a female pin to a wall with some males crawling around, both ready to jump on any prey. Taming : The male is tamed via clasic ko method. The female is tamed using a tamed male spider dance. To initiate the taming, the female should be alone (no other wild spider) and it should have only one tamed male on the ground (tamed male on shoulder are fine as long as they stay on the shoulder). Then, the tamed male should start dancing. The taming will be a succession of the male and female both dancing for some time (few minutes) but only one at a time. You have to start/stop the dancing of the male according to the female dancing or not. The taming effectiveness will decrease when both male and female are dancing or both aren't dancing. If the taming last enough time without the taming reaching 0, the female will be successfully tamed. If the taming effectiveness reaches 0 or the taming is interrupted (like player taking the male on the shoulder), the female will lock on the male (or the player that have the male on the shoulder) and kill the male instantly (kill both the player and the male on the shoulder). When the female is tamed, the female will have eggs (see Breeding for details). Mating/breeding : The mating process is the same as the taming process of a female. That's why the female taming lead to a tamed female with eggs. The female won't lay eggs but she will keep the eggs on her back. The egg incubation will be treated as a pregnancy. The female will have at least 3 babies with more males than females (same ratio as the spawn : 5 males for 1 female). Roles of the spider with this suggestion Early taming helper : the male is easy to get and can help dealing torpor for taming. Taming counter : as this spider in the wild will attack unconscious creatures, be careful when you tame a creature via ko as this spider can eat your unconscious creature. Solo explorer/tamer : with the female rideable and able to walk on every surface, this spider is useful to travel. In addition, the male can be on the shoulder to benefit of the mating boost. The mating boost can help this average creature to deal with the big threats of Ark. [Cave traveler : with the possibility to create and use zip line, you can easily travel in closed areas.] Late game PvP female disabler : while being an average creature, a well bred female can be very useful to disable a single target in a PvP fight due to the cast net ability scaling on the speed stat. Collection creature : this spider is cute, fluffy, with a lot of colors and can dance ! So this spider is a cool creature to get if you look for a pet. Limitations with this suggestion : The spider will be with low to average stats to match with a early game creature. In the wild, a pack of wild raptor can easily kill a group of spiders. When tamed, the female will be slow without a possibility to increase her movement speed. The male will have low health. The taming and mating process are skill based (with dancing) and not time based and a taming/mating failure will result in the male death. So taming/mating can't be done in high numbers easily.
