  1. Hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyypeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! Dangit, got a headache from watching the stream. My brain can't deal with the excitement. Question though, do you guys have someone who's made the study of cuteness into a science and who's also got a degree in it? We have the Jerboa, the sheep, the Otter and now the Pug. Seriously, you're cuting me to death (if you know where that quote's from I think you're one of few I think)! *dies*
  2. I honestly don't know where to ask this, so I'll ask here in the hopes that you might know the answer @cad. The problem I have is that I get different values on the hp of Doedicurus between Smart Breeding and Dododex/ARK Wiki. I usually use Dododex to quickly check the points/levels in any stat that doesn't have multiplying bonuses and then I use Smart Breeding to get all of the correct stats. The hp I have is 7344.1 which Dododex/ARK Wiki says is 38 levels, while Smart Breeding says it's 43. I checked the hp of my Ankys as they have the same taming bonuses, just to see that there wasn't something I had overlooked and all stat calculators show the same value there, 7840.1 = 51 levels. Did WC change the hp on the Doeds recently? Which value is the correct one, 38 or 43?
  3. I'm gearing up to start breeding in single player. As I'm not playing as regularly as before, I decided to move my breeding projects to sp instead, so I don't have to feed my breeders when I'm not playing. I'm working on building the most basic things I need to start breeding and while I realize I could cheat in things, I just can't. For me, a lot of the fun with building comes from the gathering I do with my tames and the crafting. I just find it relaxing I guess. I'm playing on Ragnarok and decided to make a base in the Redwoods. So far, I've only gotten stone foundations down with a smithy, a refinery forge, an S+ crafting station and a fabricator (I'm using my duplicated, level 100 character so I can research everything pretty much). I've turned my sp into my own personal taming heaven (the world is overrun with ankys, doeds and barys) so it's extremely safe everywhere except the swamps. I might also start a building project or five while in sp, basically turning it into a creative version of ARK. I'm leaving the survival stuff for our private servers instead. My first goal is to get an entirely blue doed though. I have three doeds with blue backs and other doeds with blue bellies, blue spots and blue spikes. I hope I get some funny mutations, too.
  4. Breeding's been put on hold for a while as we've started playing on Ragnarok. The plan was to alter between Iso and Rag, but as the majority of our tribe are enjoying Rag right now, we decided to not do that. It's mostly me and three others that are interested in playing on Iso and as we're also having fun on Rag at the moment, we thought we would wait before switching. All of us started over on Rag last week and the first day at Viking Bay, greeted us with a 145-saber biting my butt, ichthyornis harassing S (we've been brainstorming why she always gets attacked by them, but haven't come up with a solid theory so far except that she probably smells), followed by more high level sabers deciding to inspect our temporary base. A couple of days later, we had tamed some animals, of which two were high level trikes, some pteras and three sabers. There are so many high level creatures on this map and I haven't seen a single one, except the special ones like jerboas, below level 15. After this, we put up some spike walls and kited rexes and alloses that got too close to us for comfort, to meet their death upon said spikes and us helping them along with some unfriendly arrows in their backs. We tamed some more animals, such as an anky and a pair of doeds, and our starter base started getting too crowded, so we set out to look for another place to build a proper base at. For a change, we decided to try and build a community base, with a common working area and shared egglayers etc. etc. Also, with a large enough fence to be able to include a house from every member if we so wished to build one. It's worked so-so as three people have already started building away from the common base and since most seems to refuse using all the shared things... I guess we just suck at cooperating as a tribe and everybody wants things THEIR way too much. When we were done with the common area and the surrounding wall (which will be expanded in the future, the important part was just to get it up and the tames properly protected) we went exploring on our sabers. Here are a few screenshots from our journey: I almost fell off the bridge when taking this one : This adventure ended with me getting killed because of a microraptor/terror bird alliance... Luckily, S and H managed to get my saber safely back home. During this trip, we came across some mammoths and I decided that getting one was a good idea. My tribemates were up for a mammoth taming expedition the very next day and off we went on our trusty sabertooths. We managed to find one in the mountains, got her knocked out and started taming her on crops. While we stood there surrounded by standing torches, freezing our butts off, I took screenshot of our view: She tamed up nicely and H had managed to tame a griffin while we babysat the mammoth, so he came by, showing it off. I must say I really like the griffin model, especially the wings. The way back to out base (which is located right next to the blue obi, so we were quite far from home ), went without any major incident and I learned that I'm very fond of the new mammoth sounds and I LOVE the wood weight reduction. All in all, she's a great addition to our growing herd. Yesterday, we decided to go and harvest some oil that H had spotted in a cave close to where we tamed the mammoth. Boy did that turn out to be a mistake! As soon as all of us had entered the cave (after avoiding rexes and alloses on the way up) and H had started harvesting the oil nodes, several direbears came out of the walls and attacked us. S, her saber and her jerboa all got killed, while me and H managed to get out, my saber with less than one third of her health left. The 150-bear that had come out of the wall (and the one that killed S) chased me all the way down to the beach and I just ran back to the base in the end as he wouldn't stop following me. Let's just say that we gave up on the cave and since S had lost her saber, we decided to look for a new one for her. We managed to find a 150 male in the end that we tamed, so at least she got a new cat after this whole ordeal. Next, we're going to try and get some direbears. We're avoiding taming any apex predators for now, just for the fun of it (and of course to keep the wildlife properly fed ). We will be getting alloses to get allos kibble for the griffins, but we won't use them. I've also used my main character and my wyvern on Rags to find high level barys, ankys, direbears, pelas and so on, all for my breeding back on the Island. Now I've finally gotten 40+ levels on all the stats on the barys and while all but two are in the low 40s, at least they aren't below 40! I also tamed some ichthyornis so I can make kibble to tame more barys to hopefully get even better stats. To end this very long and rambling post, I lucked out with the ankys and managed to get a new best stat. As previously mentioned, 307 was the highest level I could get with the stats I had sans the mutated ones. The previous best stat I had was 45 levels in food and weight, but in general, I had 44 levels in the other stats, which while not amazing, I still consider good and pretty hard to find/get higher unless via trading, which I can't do. Well, I found a 150 anky and she had 32 levels in hp, so naturally, I tamed her. I got lucky and she put 19 levels into hp so now I have a whooping 51 levels, or 7840, in hp on them! I got so happy I almost fell off my chair and my effort to find better weight and melee has been incredibly fueled by this stroke of luck. No wonder ARK's so addicting, taming is like playing on a modified slot machine; you just keep pulling that lever, hoping for luck and usually, ARK just gives you the finger until one day when you finally find that ONE animal or get that ONE great stat roll, or, on even rarer occasions, both things happen with one animal.
  5. We had an incident on our Iso server yesterday (brought on by ourselves through carelessness). S logged in and told me all of her things were gone, including her smithy and refinery forge. Her animals were fine though. I said it sounded like someone had taken her stuff, which shouldn't happen as we're only real life friends on the servers and while the servers are PvPvE servers, no PvP has taken place yet (and only those that want to will participate, all others are off limits). I asked her to check my base and she did. All my animals were dead except for my terror bird and all my things were gone or destroyed. Our bases were intact though, but it was clear that someone had offline raided us, so I asked her to check the tribelog, and sure enough, there it was. A guy on a tropical crystal wyvern had killed my animals, including my passive horse and wyvern (how he missed the terror bird is a mystery) and destroyed all our things. So, we did what we've talked about earlier but not done yet and locked the server and did a rollback. So, lesson learned and while offline raiding is a douchey move, I don't blame the guy. This was totally on us. In happier news, I've finally got a bary with 40+ levels in a stat. A 145-male who ended up with 43 levels in weight and I know it's not super great, but considering my amazing lack of luck with taming these guys, I'll take it! I would have settled for just getting 40 levels, so those three extra ones made me very happy. The anky breeding is also going forward and I've now started to try and create the natural coloured ankys that I've been aiming for. I have a bit more to go, but we're getting there. In the meantime, I want to find better stats, especially after reading about the insane ankys that some people has managed to breed. It never ends, does it?
  6. The old p-curse struck my anky breeding hard today; out of a total of 18 level 307 baby ankys, six were female... I also got the same melee mutation I've gotten two times already, but with a dark purple colour on the body to go with it. I'm one step closer to having enough to create a rainbow anky for S. I will also make one for B, as she loves the mutated colours. I've been having the absolute worst luck with the high level barys as well. I've found three 150-barys so far, all had at least 28 levels in one stat, NONE got 40 levels in anything. Found a 140-female not long ago with 30 levels in stamina; she got 37 in stamina post-tame. I'm about flip a table out of frustration! To add insult to injury, a couple of days ago after noticing the spawns had gotten weird, I decided to wipe the wild dinos and then continue my bary search. Before doing that, I snatched a level 145-female direbear that I had spared earlier from my killing spree, and brought her home to check her stats. There, she went to town on my house and I knocked her out while she was busy killing my potted plants. She had 28 levels in melee, which is worthy of taming in my book., so I stuffed her with mutton and flew off again. After a fruitless bary run, I got back home, noticed that she was done and that she had gotten 407.5 in melee, or 48 levels. I had some very mixed feelings about that, thoughts like "why couldn't I've been this lucky with a bary", "why didn't I get this kind of melee on my ankys or the rexes", but mostly just "WHYYYYYYYYYYYY ARK?!". Oh well, if I ever want to breed direbears, I have a good start with this female and the 150-male I tamed earlier that got 45 levels in stamina. I'm just bummed that I get that kind of luck with animals I'm not that into. Other than that, I helped B tame a 145-rex and a 150-megatherium yesterday. We tamed them in the same area so it went relatively smoothly and we could keep an eye on both. Only hiccup, was when two alloses popped up above where B was with the mega and her quetz. I nearly pooped my pants and teleported up on the ledge with my wyvern and dealt with them quickly. It's amazing how such large creatures as allos can be so stealthy at times. Both the rex and the mega had 30 levels in melee, but none of them turned out that great. It was B's first rex though, so she was super happy nonetheless. I helped escorting the rex home, while she grabbed the mega and flew home with him and we got there without any incidents. Now, it's back to the bary hunt and hopefully, I'll get a good one some day...
  7. I've had some nice luck and some not that great piece of luck in ARK during this special. I started breeding my ankys again and have now gotten a perfect 307 female with all of my best stats. With the three mutations I have, 313 is the highest level I'll get. I still want more melee on them, but I think getting an anky with better melee might be very difficult, but I'll still try. I also got a mutation in oxygen with additional banana-coloured spikes. Not pretty. S said I should breed a rainbow coloured anky and I've threatened to do that and to give it to her. I've also started looking seriously for high level barys, as I want to breed them and use them on the Iso server. Unfortunately, I haven't really had much luck at all finding any. I have three of them, but none with over 40 levels in a single stat (nice colours on the females though). I did find a 145 spino for S and she got a new best food, so she was happy. I also found a level 75 spino with a black back, dark grey sides that she tamed. I held back on killing her to make up for killing a purple/lavender spino earlier. She'd never seen that colour on a wild spino before and I've seen it only once previously. I felt a bit bad after killing it. I also found a 150-pela that I tamed. I think he got 49 levels on oxygen or something equally silly like that. I had a very nice view sitting on a rock waiting for him to tame: I'm so happy that I can have the sky on 100% again. I've missed my clouds! I have to be careful though and keep and eye on the RAM usage. I've been up to 9.2GB, but still not crashed due to a memory leak yet, so something has changed. Another thing that has started after 258 is that sometimes the sky turns very red. It doesn't for S, but A also get this very red sky sometimes during sunrise. I have no idea why this happens and it's not ugly or anything, just looks a bit odd: I returned to the Iso server a bit today to check on my small herd of animals and because I got bored of not finding any high level barys. S has started playing on this server too, so I checked out her new base that I could go to by land instead of water compared to her starting base. I also harvested a great deal of crystal, because we're going to the red obelisk next weekend to look for high level ember crystal wyverns. I wanted some prime crystal, so I started picking fights with the...erm...colourful tropical crystal wyverns in the area I live in. My blood crystal wyvern is so poopy, that I almost exclusively picked fights with level 25's (he tamed out at level 215, but he has decent hp and that's about it). The highest level I fought with was a level 80 and my wyvern lost a good amount of health in that battle. I only got two prime crystals before giving up for the day. We also found beaver dams much closer to home. There's a good beaver spawn just were she had her first base, just across the water from my base pretty much, I just never checked that area... Derp... I need to transfer over my new blue terror bird to the Iso server tomorrow as I lost my other one to a mod bug unfortunately. I've been using an orange coloured terror bird, Satsuma, as a temporary replacement until the blue one was imprinted properly. Oh, well. Back to looking for high level barys!
  8. Well, my looking for beaver dams yesterday nearly ended in disaster and led to us to trying to disable Kapros on the map. Here's the thing, I really like the surprise element of these buggers; one second you're admiring a mushroom (don't ask) and the next you're in the jaws of a Kapro wondering where that mushroom went. That particular time it all went well; I got roughed up, but could put an arrow into my assailant and my Terror Bird could help me by attacking the Kapro's butt. The second time we got attacked however, we were next to a hill and we got glitched so that I and the Kapro got stuck inside my Terror Bird INSIDE the terrain. It was a level five Kapro, but my bird couldn't hit it and neither could I, so it was killing me. It ended with me losing my Terror Bird because of this (he fell through the map and drowned)... As this is the second incident we've had with Kapros and glitches, we decided to remove them until this hopefully won't happen anymore. We also did a rollback so I could get my bird back. If I had lost him legit, so to speak, I wouldn't have gotten him back (and been perfectly fine with that, angry at myself of course, but fine with it - otherwise what's the challenge), but since I lost him to a glitch I got him back. Hopefully, WC will be able to do something about the grabbers pushing tames/people through the ground and glitching them out, so we can get the Kapros back. They add an element of danger when you're on smaller mounts after all and I want to keep that. After that ordeal, we, my resurrected bird and me, set out again to look for beaver dams as I hadn't found any. I did come across a great place for obsidian though, in case we ever need to gather a lot of it. We got stuck on Copper Peak (I think it was called) during the night and it was a pretty view we had from up there: I did manage to find some beaver dams by the red obelisk in the end, but I had to travel quite far to do so. I think the map is x4 The Island and the distance between my base to the red obelisk is more than half the map. Except for the Kapro thing though, it was a very fun journey despite being attacked by Microraptors on several occasions and having to sneak around strategically places Alloses etc. etc. I can't help but feel that the Terror Birds are very nice mounts for this map, unless you'll go with a flyer of course. Otherwise, something fast, nimble and not too big, or that's the impression I have now; it might change during the map's completion and after I've played on it more. After striking...cementing paste(?) it was time to look for oil again. This time I decided to check in the waters around where our bases are located and to do this, I needed a water mount, so I downloaded yet another animal that I don't use on the other server; my Bary Lester. I also downloaded my horse for quick hauling purposes and my Mantis, Jelly Bean, as I wanted a fast metal/stone/flint harvester and feel that Ankys are just too slow for this map. I don't want to rely on fliers as much (just a part flyer ) as the map is so gorgeous. My base is turning into a refugee of unwanted animals from the other server. Well, me and Lester set out and started looking for oil and we actually found some not too far from the base. I found even more nodes when continuing the search today, even though we had to fight a Leeds over some of them. The stupid fish insisted on parking on top of two of the nodes, so I accidentally hit it while mining the oil and the fight was on. Me and Lester won by being awesome, is what I would like to type, but it was just me attacking it with Lester and kiting it up to the surface where I could pepper it with arrows. I did get reminded of why I like the Barys so much though, their spin attack versus sharks and mantas is just awesome. After that, I did a metal run and managed to get a bit more with me home using Jelly Bean, Oyu (the horse, someone meant to type "you" in chat but misspelled it, so I named him after that - I call him Glue in my mind though) and Lester than just my Terror Bird. Next thing to do is gather crystal for two purposes, 1) is to build a greenhouse of some sort, 2) to tame an Ember Crystal Wyvern. I don't know why I want these colourful wyverns as I don't plan on using them. I guess I'll use them as base decorations, so I have to build a nice place for them.
  9. Nothing today so far, but I will later. I've played ARK though and "finished" Project Dodo. It seems 500 hatched eggs were enough, but I might redo about 160 of them as they might skew the data. I realized at dodo 370-something, that I had to add lost levels to the stats, so I went back and did so, but ran into problems where I had several females with similar stats mated to the same male. This means the results might be skewed and that's not what I wanted. Same with the dodos where the parents had one stat in common (they were not related in any way), which gave me some 60 odd dodos where I could only check six of the seven stats. For now, I'm taking a break from it though. What I've done instead is started playing on a new map. We've been looking for a new map to play on when my friend S gets her summer vacation, and for the longest time, the map we were interested in was Ragnarok. We were never interested in Valhalla as it was too realistic looking for us, and instead we went with The Center at that time. Ragnarok looked much more interesting from the screenshots I had seen (both friend A and S thought so too), but after watching a video showcasing some of the finished areas, it started feeling like Valhalla again - prettier but still too realistic. Friend A decided to check another map instead, a more fantasy themed one, Iso: Crystal Isles, and immediately after checking the workshop page, I asked if we could "clone" my character so I could take a look at it too. We did so and well, that was three days ago and I'm still "checking it out". It is an absolutely gorgeous map with vibrant colours (I think they are more saturated compared to vanilla) and beautifully crafted, dramatic, landscapes. This map is much more to my and A's liking so far and we're trying to persuade S that THIS is the map to play on next. Don't get me wrong, Ragnarok is extremely well made and beautiful too, this is just a matter of taste and not a difference in quality as far as I'm concerned. Friend A made a new character, but I transferred my clone so I didn't start from scratch but I didn't transfer anything with me due to an issue we're having our items "disappearing" in the ARK data menu, only survivors and tames stay. So, this meant me, a level 100 character, was running around in primitive hide (after killing enough creatures) and using primitive stone tools. It was very fun. Pretty much the first thing I did was building a small thatch hut with a bed, then I immediately started replacing the thatch with wood, and then I realized I needed some kind of assistance in the shape of an animal. So, what would be more fitting than a super terror bird? With mutated body colour? I transferred my blue bird and he fits the colourful map perfectly: I also found a blood crystal wyvern that reminded me of some of the gorgeous alpha wyverns on SE, so I had to tame him (normally, I don't like the neon coloured animals, but I've always loved the alpha wyverns): Most of both days have been spent building a small base and finding resources. I've managed to make a fabricator, but I need to find beaver dams for cp (caves are forbidden until S can play with us) and a better way to get oil than from oil jug bugs. This so I can make a generator and two fridges (one for A and one for me). That's the plan for today when I start playing. I only have these two critters and a theri I downloaded that I wasn't using due to her not being particularly good (a 150 I tamed that got good oxygen...). I'm thinking about downloading my doed, but I haven't decided yet as I'm not going to play seriously on this map until S can join us. I don't want too many tames that needs taking care of. I might download a horse that I've leveled in speed, as he would be a prefect companion for when I need to haul more resources home than my terror bird can carry. He can carry more and keep up with my bird. This is my small house that's in desperate need of paint, but that'll have to wait: Only thing that I'm not too fond of so far on this map, is the tropical crystal wyverns' colour scheme. They can be...erm... quite colourful...yes...let's leave it at that.
  10. Project Terror Bird has finally come to an end. I got the last missing bird today and I'm now no longer considered a horrible animal abuser after dismantling the breeding pens I had the birds in. We also got an unexpected melee boost on all our tames as we discovered that we weren't using the official multipliers (we thought we did, but it turned out we didn't and melee was the most affected by this). This means that my terror birds' base melee went from 396.4% to 425.7%. It's still a shame I have the melee on the birds and not something more useful though... So, I've now started another project, but for a completely different reason. There was a thread on the Steam forums where one survivor was wondering if WC had nerfed breeding, so that there was no longer a 70% chance of the babies getting the better stat from each parent. After some debating back and forth (I haven't noticed any of that sort, it seems the same as it has been since I started breeding), I decided to provide the data needed to determine if there has been a ninja nerf or not, and to do this, I've started breeding Dodos. I spawned in level 150 dodos and did a dotame on them, giving them a 100% taming effectiveness and thus stats that non-cheated dodos can only dream of. Of course I decided to see if I could get an ultimate dodo while I was at it, so after I had gotten six dodos with one good stat each and some extra females, I started the project. The goal of the project is to hatch a 1000 eggs and record how many of the best/worst stat each dodo has gotten. This project could also be called "Testament of Insanity", "I Have Too Much Time on My Hands", "I'm Crazy and Need Help" etc. etc... So many options... Well, I've hatched 78 eggs so far, so I have a few more eggs to hatch before this project is done.
  11. Hi Cad, it's the crazy Anky-person again. I just wanted to tell you that we FINALLY figured out the problems we've had with your tool, and it turned out it was as you said all along; our multipliers were not the same as official ones. My admin discovered today that he could copy the server .ini settings onto the multipliers in the tool and that's how we discovered that we were NOT using the official multipliers we thought we were. We had some very odd numbers, so he immediately changed to the official ones, and now we have sweet green stats on all our tames and bred animals (and we got one heck of a melee boost on them too). We're extremely happy as we can now use this great tool properly and thank you for trying to help out earlier. Keep up the good work!
  12. Project terror bird is approaching its end. I only have two colours left to get all the mutated stats on, and then I'm done. Meanwhile, my tribemate finally found a rex with great hp and another with good melee, so he's started up project boss rex (I'll take over and try to get the useless stats and colours in). He's been incredibly lucky and gotten an hp and melee mutation already. Three of us decided to go to the swamp cave yesterday, as me and my friend has never been there (we've beaten the easy dragon, but never been in the swamp cave... I think we're doing things in the wrong order). I was very keen on going after taming my pretty frog, so it was great that we finally got our collective thumbs out and actually went. So, with me on a not particularly good frog but with an epic saddle, our guide/my friend's bf on his horrible looking but good terror bird, and my friend on foot, what could possibly go wrong? Strangely enough...nothing actually. We were very surprised all three of us, especially my friend as she has a tendency to die in the caves. It turns out that even a not particularly good frog, is still amazing when it comes to dealing with bugs, and since those seems to be the worst threat in the cave by destroying the gas masks very easily, we got through the cave without any problems. It helped that my friend was on top of her game too, and didn't panic as much as she usually does. It was very pretty in the cave, so I took some screenshots:
  13. Project terror bird is going forward, I've now gotten three mating pairs with the desired colours and stats, still some to go though. It feels good to finally being able to remove some of the excess birds and not having so many around. I've also tamed a very pretty frog, but not had much luck finding a hubby for her. She was a 145-frog and I found a 140, a 145 and a 150 male frog when I found her, but none of them where worth keeping. While she didn't have any breedable stats, she definitely has breedable colours. We've also been down into the easy Tek-cave and checked it out. We died several times to the critters down there (we were four people on bred megas), but got teleported back in. We didn't beat it legit in other words, but it was interesting and it looked good. The sad part is that as the cave is now (missing the final boss), the best way to beat it on any difficulty, would probably be to use parachutes and grappling hooks. You can bring 50 animals, but I can't see how you would 1) get them all inside within the time limit unless most of them are small, 2) make sure that the majority don't jump down into the lava. When the final boss gets implemented, I would guess you bring your super rexes (nothing larger can get inside without cheating) and canon-fodder that you use to kite the enemies down into the lava to avoid fighting them as much as possible. I don't think that the cave as it is now, is particularly good, but as it's not done yet, I'll hold off on the criticism for now. It was very pretty though, I'll give it that.
  14. Well, the three most frequent players have been on today. One to look for pigs so we can test them out (no pigs found), the other to hatch spinos and argents and then to go looking for more high level argents, and me with my terror bird project. I still haven't had much luck all four mutated stats on one bird. Got one female and am trying to get more females and at least one male. My spino and argent breeding friend gave me a very good idea. She has her argents in breeding pens and just leaves them on wandering and lets the egg collectors collect all the fertilized eggs, and then she gathers the eggs and hatches them when she has time. I decided to do the same with my terror birds so I don't have to do the micro-managing anymore and it's wonderful! Only thing is I feel a bit bad for the birds being crammed into these small breeding pens on wandering and my friend as already threatened with PETA. This is the setup: While looking for pigs, my tribemate spotted a 145 female rex on Carno Island and I decided to take a break in the bird breeding and go and take a look. She was gorgeous! White spine, dark green back and sides and white belly. I was going to try and breed this colour, but having it handed to me on a platter? Yes, please! I got her down without her fleeing out into the ocean and drowning herself. I asked my other friend for help (the spino breeder) as I thought I wouldn't knock the rex out that easily, and my friend was heading towards carno island when she spotted another 145 female rex close to my base. As she didn't have anything on her to knock it out, she took over baby sitting the beauty, and I went and knocked out the other one. She had nothing amazing but she was worth taming at least, while the green and white one had decent stamina and oxygen. The pretty rex got 43 levels in oxygen and the other one got nothing and ended up as wyvern snack. Oxygen was not what I really wanted or what the tribe needs, but since she's so pretty she got to follow me home. Back in the base, I imprinted the last time on the cyan coloured terror bird I hatched yesterday and that my tribemate really wanted (he's already got the Danish bird, but he wanted this one too) and then the server crashed... We're still waiting for any sings of life from it and have filed a support ticket asking what's going on. No answer yet. Edit: We found out what the issue was with the server, a mod and our admin messing up. The server did a bit of a rollback, so now the pretty green and white rex got much better stats (the other female isn't tamed yet), nothing over 40 unfortunately, but we got a new best stamina which is always something I guess. No matter what; she's still gorgeous. I need to imprint on the terror bird again as well. Here's the terror bird btw:
  15. ghjw<iowesaöp<jh Ah, sorry that was my jaw, it fell onto the keyboard. Now, where was I? Oh, yes ghwriop<ephiu<wa0oåe'uh I can keep this up until the patch arrive...banned? For spamming? Oh, I'll just go and drool on the trailer instead...
  16. The terror birds have not been kind to me the last couple of days. I've now managed to get pretty much all the colours I want to the highest levels I can with my unmutated stats. Now it's time to work those mutations in, plus I'm trying to avoid unnecessary doubles of any stat on the natural coloured birds to boot. I did manage to get all four mutated stats in on a pair of twins, unfortunately, they're the blue ones and thus only useful for getting a nice blue/white bird for my friend as promised. Closest I've gotten is three mutated stats on another pair of twins, male and female this time. I'm trying to breed the missing stat in on the male, as I only have a female with said stat. No luck so far. I've gotten some more useless mutations with accompanying horrifying colours, a purple bird (not a good colour on terror birds it turned out), a bright yellow bird, a cerise belly on one, red on another and then I got this fellow that I kept: I like his colour but not together with the colour on the beak/legs. I'm going to try and get his colour and the more yellow beak/legs and see how that looks. I don't know if the terror birds can get this colour "naturally", but I've never seen one (it might not be visible in the screenshot, but the colour is quite eye catching). I've gotten quite some mutations during this project and I've tried to keep track; out of about 150-200 eggs hatched (I'm not kidding), I've gotten a melee mutation five or six times, an hp mutation twice, stamina three, oxygen four or five, food three, and weight three or four times. The sad part? It's ALL been mutations on the base stats... I also got one female with two mutations at one time, which I've never gotten before. Unfortunately, one of them was in food, so she had to go. I'll try and get some of the mutated stats to mutate again, but first I need some birds with all mutated stats on. You seem to suffer from the same male curse as I do whenever I breed my ankys. I get way more males with the stats I want than females, which can get quite frustrating after the third male triplets you have to kill only because they were male. Oh, and it's quite fun to read that you're trying with colours on them too. They don't have many nice colours, but some look better than others. I'm personally trying to create a white anky (I already have the white mutation from previous breeding) with whine red stripes, leg plates and spike tips, then the same with the more tan colour. I have all the colours (I kept one pretty useless anky only for his wine red leg plates), but not on the same anky... It's going to take forever though.
  17. Well, so far I haven't done much. Logged in and started sorting the new terror birds out (deciding which to breed and which old ones to remove), made some saddles for them and sorted the vault content a bit and then I got disconnected from the server. It's been down three hours now due to "unscheduled maintenance" (we're renting both of our servers) and we've no idea when it'll be up again. Feeling a bit miffed as I had gotten a mutation in the base hp again, but this time on a male without any unnecessary mutations plus I've gotten max level with the stats I have on several males/females of the colours I was trying to get. Not much else to do but wait and hope. She's very pretty.
  18. I haven't done much the last days, except breeding terror birds of course. Since it's been weekend though, my friend has been able to play more and yet again, she managed to goof up. She's trying to breed a white jerboa too and was doing just that on Saturday. Unfortunately, she forgot to check on her female after mating her, resulting in two white (of course) and very dead baby jerboas inside her house. For some reason, she picked one of them up and when I asked why, it was because she didn't want dead baby jerboas in there (we were on Discord). I thought she could've just left them until they had despawned, but she didn't want that. During this incident, she was also hatching argent eggs and spino eggs, and she had just claimed a baby spino before picking up the dead jerboa, resulting in the baby spino running away. The baby jerboa was so small that she didn't get the prompt to release the body, so she couldn't drop it and she wanted the baby spino to follow her and stop fleeing, so she ran after it while trying to whistle follow on it. I was laughing so hard I was crying as I pictured her running after this poor terrified baby spino, while swinging a dead baby jerboa around and yelling at the spino to stop. Everything worked out in the end though, but it was hilarious to listen too. My terror bird project is moving forward and I've gotten another mutation, but in hp this time. Unfortunately, it's a female with some usless mutations, so I don't really want to use her to get the better hp into the breeding lines. I also realized I had almost messed up completely and instead of getting a good mutation-free breeding stock, I had started breeding in the mutations already, so I killed pretty much every terror bird I hatched yesterday. I also realized the the black male wasn't actually black, but a very dark grey... So I had to try and get a real black male this time. Otherwise, I've started getting a good breeding stock now and it's time to work the mutations in. Oh, and of course I got a red bird... I was talking earlier about how I needed a Danish bird, right? Well, here he is: We decided yesterday to spawn in the dragon on carno island and see if he would act bugged out, or if we might be able to fight him with wyverns there in the future (we want to beat the bosses as legit as possible, but our tribe is so small we don't think we'll ever take the hard dragon down in the arena). Unfortunately, he spat one fireball and then he flew off and got stuck in a mountain, so it seems we can't fight him like that. We're trying to come up with other ideas though and hopefully, we'll be able to figure something out. After this, I flew back home and continued the terror bird project. I also decided to make a recycler, an industrial forge (I'm level 103 and just haven't gotten around to it yet) and to replace my storage boxes with s+ vaults. I also built a "house" for the forge, and then I realized that my working area got too crowded and I couldn't place my industrial grill in a good place so I just put it somewhere. Today, however, I decided that I needed to expand my working area as the placement of the grill bothered me too much, and I also realized I could build a better "house" for the forge, so I'll demolish what I built yesterday. This is how it looked when I was finished yesterday and how it looks now that I've started to rebuild; a mess: Hopefully, I won't tired halfway through the rebuilding.
  19. I forgot to mention that I leveled the melee on one of them by one level and it still didn't work. The melee is now 413.1% on the one I leveled up, maybe I should try and level it up again? It's great that I can add the base values though as I wanted to see how many lost levels I had on them, and we can add some animals at least. I'm starting to think that our servers are a bit..."special".
  20. Hey, I decided to give this nifty tool another go as my tribemate/admin successfully could add a freshly tamed ptera yesterday (he couldn't add a thyla though...). I tested with my ankys again, and still get the food/melee errors as before, so tried with my terror birds instead and it worked! I could add all of my bred ones until I tried adding the ones with a melee mutation, then I got the red flag again. I can add the base melee no problems, but not the mutated variant of said melee so what could be the issue? I'll add two screenshots, one with the base melee and one with the mutated one. First one is of Amber who has been successfully added to my library: The second one I couldn't add because of the error: The ancestors of these two were tamed on cooked mutton chops on SE with x4 taming. I've no idea if this info helps any but thought I should add it anyway. Everything else is vanilla, no changed stat multipliers etc. EDIT: Just tested if I could add the stats of the ancestors and I can, but I do get yellow on weight and melee on them. I tried with an equus to and all green there. I don't get any yellow on the base stats on the bred terror birds though, it's all green.
  21. It was a good day for breeding terror birds today apparently. I decided to put the ankys on hold again, but actually followed through this time. I want to finish the terror birds as they're much easier to breed before filling my base with ankys. The first batch of eggs didn't yield much of a result, but with the second I started to get some birds with all the stats AND colours I'm after. This meant I could kill off some of the previous breeders which felt really great (I still have almost 30 birds though ). I also got the same mutation in weight twice, but the first time the bird got a purple beak and legs and as she was white/light grey, she looked kind of ill. Luckily, the second bird I got the same mutation on also had a colour I've been working on, so I immediately replaced the purple thing. I also managed to get the mutated melee on a male without the banana beak - thrilled about this. The first thing I did though was breeding the colourful couple from yesterday. I told my friends that if I got a bird with both of their colours, I would have a Swedish bird. I was promptly told to do just that and so I did. And I got the colours... Here she is, the Swedish bird named "Heja Sverige" (something like "Go Sweden"): She's quite... eye catching, I'll give her that. I only did it because I could, but I don't really want to keep her so my friend offered to take her because she thinks the bird looks hilarious. Now I need a red mutation so I can get a Danish bird too, as we're a bunch of Swedes and Danes playing on our server. My friend (this is one of the friends who's living close to the red obi and that's adopting the Swedish bird) could play today, so I went to her base on my terror bird, Slate, to show off my white jerboa . I had planned to jump off a hill behind her base and land on her rooftop, but I misjudged and slammed into the wall on her house instead. Only because I was trying to show off, it's so typical. On the way back to my base, I got knocked off by a microraptor again as I ran into a tree stump while trying to get away from it... Luckily, this was a lone microraptor without any nasty backup, so Slate made short work of it while I stood there being stunned. I think I will grow to really dislike these little pests as I ride around on my birds more, but they won't make me give up on the terror birds! They're just too much fun! My friend came over later to check out all the birds and I've now gotten an order of three birds from her; one blue and white (she loved that colour), a copy of the female I borrowed but with better stats, and another variant of the same better female. I guess I have my work cut out for me, as I'm also trying to get a completely white/light grey bird, a black bird, two combinations of black and white, and red-brown and white also in two combinations. This plus get the mutated stats bred in properly. Ah, well. I'm several steps closer to getting the best birds I can get with the stats I have and with the colours I want, and I look forward to tomorrow when I can start breeding all these new ones. I just realized three of them are adults now... *glances at clock* It's not horribly late... yet... *runs off to breed more terror birds*
  22. Meh... I wrote a long post about today but then I somehow deleted it, so I'll just leave this screenshot of the two mutated terror birds I got today. The blue one got all the good stats I have and a useless mutation in food. The...very colourful one got a mutation in melee which is great if it wasn't for that colour. I also had a run in with microraptors and terror birds at the start of the day. It ended with me losing over half my health to this unholy alliance and my terror bird ending up as my saviour. I'm having great fun running to and from my friends' bases by the red obelisk from mine at the Hidden Lake, except when microraptors in collaboration with terror birds happen that is. *grumbles* The day ended on a high note with me finally getting a white jerboa, so it was a good day.
  23. Taking a wee bit of a break right now, before diving back into breeding my ankys and terror birds, so why not post here. I like reading what other people have been up to (I wish I was as creative as some of you seem to be, it sounds like great fun ). I packed up my tames on our SE server and transferred back to our Island server as I got tired of being the only active player on SE. I decided to take advantage of the fact that we still have increased breeding on the other server to breed in my new anky stats a bit faster. I'll get some better wyverns after we've switched SE for Ragnarok when it's more completed and I won't be alone on the server. So, today I've done pretty much nothing but breeding and I've gotten so many useless mutations and twins (ankys) that I don't know what's going on. I got a pair of anky twins that were orange, but luckily they didn't have any good mutation so I didn't have to keep them. I forgot to take screenshots though... ARK giveth and ARK taketh, and while I've gotten unlucky with the mutations, I've hatched some nice females. I normally only get males, so ARK has been suspiciously kind in that regard. My lost levels made a surprising return yesterday when I hatched a 295 male with the exact same stats as the 289 one I had before. I had given up on getting all the lost levels into the line since it seemed hopeless earlier, so that was a nice surprise. I've managed to get the new hp and stamina + all the previous best stats in on three females, ranging from level 293 to 299. I also hatched a 301 female anky that got the mutated hp and all the other best stats from both parents. Now I need to work the mutated melee in (got a mutation in that yesterday), the weight and the food and project anky should be "done". Then I just have to get super ankys with nice colours. The terror bird project is starting to show some result too. I've gotten 3/4 stats into one male now (he hatched at level 262, but he has a lot of lost levels), but it has taken a surprisingly long time. I'm also trying to get to nice colours so I have a lot of meh terror birds at the moment that will be killed as soon as I've gotten everything I want. The most difficult thing seems to be to get the more blue toned white on the beak and legs that my friend has on her golden terror bird. She, the bird in question, refuses to share this colour and I only get the more pink hued white instead. I did get a colour mutation that I've ended up keeping so far. He's white (as white as they get so more a silvery grey) with a dark grey beak/legs. He's got nothing useful at all and I can get the same colour combination breeding my birds, but until I have, he's staying. I also used a terror bird for the first time ever, and I did so by running to my friend's base near the red obelisk (my base is at the hidden lake) and it was a blast. I've really come to like these fellows after I started breeding them, despite them being more of an early tame. On the way home I ran up the volcano and jumped off, testing how far I could glide on the bird. We landed at the foot of the mountain north of the volcano (she did take some fall damage), ran up the other mountain and repeated the process and finally landed outside my base. Here we are on our maiden voyage (sorry for the quality, but I can't run the game on full epic and I can't have any sky effects enabled due to a memory leak): I was a bit worried we would land on top of a rex or something. Now, time for some more breeding. Looking forward to reading what you've been up to later.
  24. Well, I started playing again recently (pretty much as the flyer-nerf happend) and went back to SE to get some new wyverns as ours are specced wrongly. We had to do a lot of changes before I could start playing properly as the server was acting up. It seems okay now, so fingers crossed. I started up my anky-project again as I got better hp, better stamina, better food and better weight after I started playing again. I've hatched a level 289 baby, a male with all the previous best stats + lost levels and the new stamina, and a 287 female with the previous best stats + lost levels and the new best hp. Naturally, I hatched this horror right after I got her: She's staying despite the colour since she also got a mutation in hp... So now I have a new best hp to try and breed in and I haven't even gotten the previous one in properly yet. I've put the anky-project on a temporary hold until the batch I have now has grown up. As a side project, I've started breeding terror birds. I wanted to test if something except the thyla/wyvern is usable to get wyvern milk with, so I needed something speedy, preferably a carnivore due to all the nasties that are hanging around the world scar, and small enough to be able to kite wyverns into our trap. The plan was to go with raptors, but then the high level terror birds seemed to throw themselves at me and who am I to deny them? I have okay stamina, okay weight and okay melee. All I need now is okay hp and I'll be happy. I won't go all in as I do with the ankys and the rexes, which means I won't tame anything with high oxy and/or food unless I stumble upon them. I just have one problem, I didn't count on the nice colours they have so now I'm keeping not that useful birds because they got neat colour combos that I want to try and breed in... Here are the latest two: None of these got all the good stuff they should, but I couldn't get rid of them...
  25. I got my question answered! With a...maybe? But yay anyway! I think it's a quote from Arthur C. Clarke.
