ARK @ E3!
If you missed our ARKtastic announcements during this week at E3 here’s a recap post including trailers and screenshots of all our announced new content! Check it out:
Biome Update!
As the biome update quickly approaches, here’s a reminder that anything located inside the zoned areas could be deleted by these new biome changes. Please remove any important resources, bases, and creatures from the area before the patch releases (ETA: June 22). Anything within the redwoods are will absolutely be deleted. If you are based in the expanded snow biome your belongings will likely survive if terrain changes have not taken place, but it is in your best interest to remove all valuables from these areas to avoid damage if you are concerned about it. A map of these areas and further details can be found in the post below:
ARK Digest Q&A!
Here is our question and answer session with Lead Designer, Lead Programmer, Co-Creative Director of ARK: Survival Evolved, and Co-Founder of Studio Wildcard: Jeremy "Drake" Stieglitz!y
Survivor, Mystalias asks, “Can the training dummy show torpor damage done?”
QuoteIt’s a little tricky due to how Torpor is setup to act upon characters, but I’ll get around to making it work.
Survivor, Dinopants asks, “For those of us who enjoy cave spelunking with our birds on single player, can we get a way to enable the ForceAllowCaveFlyers=True setting in the ini file?”
QuoteYep I’ll go ahead and get it switched to an INI option so that it’s easier to access -- note that you can for now launch your EXE for singleplayer with -ForceAllowCaveFlyers even if you’re not hosting a “dedicated” server
Survivor, Dinopants asks, “Will the current tribe logs get updated to show more detailed information? Such as the tribe name of a dino that killed you?”
QuoteYes, that, as well as enemy Structure destructions.
Survivor, Volk asks, “Any plans for more advanced underwater weapons beyond the crossbow such as harpoon etc?”
QuoteDoes the Fishing Pole count? Har har but seriously, one of the next underwater ‘weapons’ starts with T and ends with O. Can you guess it?!
Survivor, God787 asks, “Any chance of getting some settings for the homing water mines, kind of like the turret settings?”
QuoteYeah I’ll go ahead and add the full spectrum of turret settings to ‘em.
Survivor, Ruenan asks, “With the Titanosaur coming out the 22nd. Will its so called "mega poop" create double the fertilizer in the compost bin or a bunch in a dung beetle?”
QuoteYes, Titanic Dino == Titanic Poop == Titanic Fertilizer. Darn, did I just insult James Cameron’s 1997 masterpiece? Didn’t mean to.
Survivor, TranqRex asks, “Are there more types of structure planned? I've seen some clay-style prototypes linked on Twitter but they were for Primitive+ I think. How about the main game in general? -- obviously excluding the new tree-based stuff for Redwoods!”
QuoteYes there’s another pre-Tek structure tier coming up, with some unique capabilities!
Survivor, TranqRex asks, “Could we get an 'eat all' button on XB1 (maybe for PC too it'd be useful)? When my health is low and I need to munch a stack of berries, repeatedly tapping the right trigger is only wearing out that trigger and tiring my finger!”
QuoteYep, I’ll code that simple feature up soon!
Survivor, Tomtoyer asks, “How will works the Purlovia burrow's system?? They will can make holes in the ground and go in?”
QuotePretty much, but only on soft grounds of course! Then they pop up and grab any enemy intruder that gets too close!
Survivor, Kenkillya asks, “Would you consider putting a cool down or limit on tribes changing their tribe name. On the server I'm playing on there are tribes that change their names several times a day.”
QuoteSure, we’ll make a server option for that.
Survivor, Zanber asks, “Any chance we can get Dev Kit functionality to arrange primal data blueprints in groups, assign each item a point value within that group, and then impose a cap on how many points worth of structures/tames from each group a tribe may have placed/own.
I would really like to run a server that limits the amount of dinos tribes can get, with higher powered dinos costing more towards the cap. Or maybe a turret mod with multiple turret types, with stronger turrets costing more. Or limiting how many vaults & or storage boxes a tribe can have. I really think it would be great for people trying to create personalized server specific balance type mods.”QuoteI intend to continue exposing a lot more power to dev kits, including overrides of structure allowance and tames, along with much more item control. So yup, this will be entirely possible very soon starting with the next DevKit update.
Survivor, Neizan asks, “About: Custom Tripwire Alarm Notifications, Is there any chance of a mobile application of survivetheark.com to receive notifications on my Android?”
QuoteWe’ll maybe see if the DodoDex crew can help with that, so that we can stay focused on developing ARK itself
Survivor, OnePotatoChip asks, “So we've got functional fire animation and damage in the game with the DodoRex and The Dragon. Does this mean we'll being seeing fire based weaponry in the future? I know it was talked about before, but you all seemed sort of iffy about it.”
QuoteYep, you will be getting a badass flamethrower, and very versatile flame arrows.
Survivor, Kaprodonychus asks, “Once Tapejara latches onto a tree or wall, can it move around on it as well as gain stamina? Or does it stay in its place?”
QuoteIt locks in place, but you can fire your weaponry when it’s in this state (unlike the Megalania).
Survivor, HarbringersCat asks, “Since Tapejara can land on cliff faces and such, could it also land on the sides of large dinos like brontos?”
QuoteNah, that would be too painful for the large dino!
Survivor, Marksman00048 asks, “Would you consider the dyng of backpacks to aid in reclaiming your gear? Or just style points =p - I understand it's supposed to be difficult but I am also color blind and this puts me in a bit of an irritating position.”
QuoteDyeing your backpack and packages sounds like a fun idea. I’ll get around to making that happen in due time.
Survivor, Wolfpack22 asks, Since we're getting gas mask soon will you be adding chemical weapons like mustard or chlorine gas, I would love to see a gas that cause debuffs to players that don't have there mask on and that wild and tamed Dino's find offensive to smell and cause them to leave the area for a time it would be great for fending off gigas from you base or area.
QuoteYep.
Survivor, BaconR8Colby asks, “Something that I would really love to see implemented in Ark is some kind of multi-world/map system for Local Hosting. Similar to Minecraft. When "The Center" was added this essentially gives 2 maps/world's to play on which is great. But it would be nice to have several Island maps or several Center maps. That way if I wanted to pursue a variety of game styles or building locations the option would be there without messing up my main map/world. Thanks for hearing me out! “
QuoteYeah we’ll ultimately be making that happen, essentially in the way you indicate.
Survivor, MeSDatGeek asks, “Will we get proper stairs, without having to rely on mods? This has been a pretty big topic for a lot of us. It is something that many of us feel should be added to a game such as this as a default building feature.”
QuoteYep, that’ll be coming in July for the various building tiers.
Survivor, Tamaster asks, “Can we please, please, please get server logs for destroying structures? Make them optional if needed just please!”
QuoteYeah, that’ll get added in v244.
Survivor, ChiOokami asks, “Will Ark ever receive colorblind support. It's hard to distinguish between the different drop colors. A simple name when looked at through a spyglass would be sufficient.”
QuoteWe’ll make the floating texts colors change-able as we did in SotF, and sure we’ll go ahead make the spy-glass able to get info on whatever supply crate it’s looking at from a distance.
Survivor, Adamsmasher asks, “What about a scroll option to move a desired piece (i.e. fence foundations) to all the different snap points it can see?”
QuoteSounds like a pretty darn good and straightforward idea, I’ll try to get that in soon!
Survivor, Direwolf asks, “Do you have a specific release date for Primal Survival Mode, or is it not yet set?”
QuoteIts primary developers, Instinct Games, are aiming for a November 2016 release! My personal favorite: playing as a dung beetle and needing to find poop to consume. Survival Evolved indeed

Workshop Spotlight!
Ced: "Welcome to another week of the mod spotlight! This week I'm with PommieGamer, the creator of the Homing Pigeon! Welcome! So this mod seems like it took off. I saw when it was released in late March and a few weeks later it was in the most popular mods. Tell me a little about yourself. Do you have a background in game design?"
QuoteHi everyone, it's great to be here, thanks for the opportunity ComplexMinded. My name is PommieGamer, originally I'm from London, England, but I'm now living in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia. I don't have a background in game design (that would be a dream job though!), I do however work as a software engineer by day, so like any developer I like tinkering around with new toys, figuring out how stuff works - which is how I guess I fell into modding.
To be honest with you I'm a little blown away by the success of Homing Pigeon, we now have over 105,000 subscribers to the mod, which is an insane number! - especially when you consider this is my very first mod for ARK: Survival Evolved.
Ced: Well the success is much deserved. I think you tapped into functionality that many people have been looking for in the main game. For those who aren't aware of the mod, briefly explain what it is and what your goal for the mod is.
QuoteHoming Pigeon at its core is an AI mod. Flyers equipped with the Homing Pigeon Leg Ring will automatically attempt to return to the closest Homing Pigeon Flag owned by the tribe, in the event that the rider dies. The motivation for the mod was to assist early-game players in retrival of their flyer (as they are so valuable at that stage of the game), and also because I have a habbit of accidentally pressing 'E' whist in mid-flight. Oops! ?
My plan for Homing Pigeon is to add additional functionality to enable players to manually send flyers to a tribe owned or allied Homing Pigeon Flag. This has great potential to open up new forms of trading and communication (especially on RP servers) between tribes. In addition I also plan to add support for a number of the other mods in the community which add custom flyers to the game.
Ced: It sounds like you have a lot planned for the future of this mod! I can tell you that I'll definitely have my eye out for it. Its something that a lot of people wanted in the main game. Who knows, maybe this will become an official mod! I can definitely see the purpose for it. So what helped you get started in the development kit?
QuoteFingers crossed ? I would be thrilled if this became an official mod! While I have modded for other games in the past, I had never modded with the Unreal Engine, so I started by doing a ton of research on how the Blueprint Engine works and what sorts of things are exposed via that interface by the ARK dev kit. The forums were a great resource for getting started, so I had a number of threads bookmarked. In addition there are a ton of great video resources on YouTube, and we now have Discord chat which has been super helpful at getting quick info, or finding help to debug an issue. In terms of my own personal learning, the biggest hurdle for me was understanding how network replication functions in the Unreal Engine.
For anyone wishing to learn, this video playlist really helped me understand that subject:
Ced: "Thanks for that awesome resource!! I'm sure that will help get some people started. So do you have any plans for any other mods or do you plan on investing most if your time into this one. Any other cool ideas?"
QuoteI want to focus on finishing everything I have planned for Homing Pigeon before I move onto my next mod. But as a teaser, I do have an idea for another AI based mod which I think is going to be super useful and exciting, especially for ARK: Survival of the Fittest. But for now, my lips are sealed on exactly what that is ? .
Ced: "Ah I love the suspense.. Well I think that wraps it up for this community crunch! Any parting words?"
QuoteThank you to everyone for your continued support! ...and if you would allow me a shameless plug; checkout my ARK: Survival Evolved video series on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/PommieGamer . Thanks again Complex!

Hello Survivors!
We are very excited to share a titanic amount of news with you! Today at E3 with PC Gamer, we were able to reveal some of the upcoming updates coming to the ARK! First of all, let’s begin with what you’re all curious to hear about, our new gamemode…
ARK: Primal Survival!
ARK: Primal Survival is an upcoming Total Conversion where survivors will be able to play, live, and breed as any of the ARK’s creatures! Survivors will experience full survival mechanics and lifecycles, including mating, growing, recruiting more creatures to your ‘pack,’ even constructing primitive dens.
Playing Primal Survival, which will launch later this year on PC and Xbox One as an Official Total Conversion, will allow survivors to experience;
Live life as a Raptor, communicate and coordinate tactical attacks on other species.
Spend your nights creepily crawling around the caves as the Araneo, catching your victims with your web spinning ability and spraying them paralyzing venom, while laying eggs to expand your brood!
Work together as one to execute strategic attacks alongside your pack to chase and takedown prey! Train and protect your young through the harsh winters so that they are ready to join the hunt by the time they are full grown adults.
Cuddle up with your cubs and forget about your worries and your strife whilst you spend the day fishing, wandering and roaming the land with your sleuth!
Experience the ARK through the eyes of a Titanomyrma, building a thriving colony centered around ‘ant hills’, and survive against the elements and the dangers that the island brings!
Furthermore the new functionality associated with this Primal Survival mode will also enable mod creators to build much more intricate mods involving playing as these various creatures and detailing their lifecycles & survival mechanics, with new capabilities for creating asymmetric gameplay modes. ;)!
?
The Redwood Biome and Spotlight: Titanosaur!
Releasing June 22 on Steam via the v243 update, and shortly thereafter on Xbox One, The Redwood Biome is an all-new biome filled with lush, giant trees sturdy enough in which to build treehouses and villages.
Harvest lumber from these gigantic arbors to create your fortress super high up in the air, providing a safer place to to build a village as well as providing height advantage for a superb tactical defense stance, or tap into the massive redwoods to extract their sap for healthy concoctions.
Also making its debut in ARK v243, the extremely rare Titanosaur (Titanosaurus Vagacastrum) is the largest creature found on ARK island, operating for many players as a mobile superfortress capable of ferrying obscene amounts of weight, structures, defenses and creatures upon its back.
Essentially a walking mountain, this herbivore often crushes creatures and buildings within its path and takes issue with any creature invading his personal space.
Primitive Plus Official Mod Launch!
The second official mod, Primitive+, will launch directly within ARK: Survival Evolved on Thursday, July 28 for both PC and Xbox One players!
Primitive+ explores the idea of what life may be like with common-day knowledge and resources provided by the land. It incorporates primitive tools and techniques that are still being used by indigenous tribes around the world today!
Players are challenged to use primarily wood and stone without the benefit of advanced metals. A whole new set of items and detailed new mechanics focus the player on 'primitive' survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK. Primitive+ will be playable as a functionality mod on all official ARK maps.
The mod will include;
- Over 100 primitive-themed structures
- 3 ancient building tiers (adobe, lumber, brick & cement)
- Diverse resource system - live off the land with 40 different resources
- Primitive trapping system (deadfall trap / fishing traps)
- Advanced farming - 10 historic crops and resources (Wheat, Barley, Coffee, Tea, etc)
- 11 iconic weapons (Flintlock pistol, Musket, Viking Axe, Battleaxe, etc)
- 60 types of food recipes to craft
- Enhanced role-playing experience (market stalls for trading, meals, etc)With even more update and features to come!
We hope you guys are excited for today’s announcements just as much as we are! And don’t worry, we’ve still got loads more exciting developments coming up this year, and we’re excited to continuing to work with you to create ARK: Survival Evolved and its many extended features!
All the best,
Wildcard Jat & the ARK: Survival Evolved Team

Common Name: Tapejara
Species: Tapejara Imperator
Time: Cretaceous
Diet: Carnivorous
Temperament: SkittishWild
Tapejara Imperator is a marvel to watch in the wild. It has astonishing agility compared to the Island’s other flyers thanks in large part to the rudder-like fin that extends from its snout to the back of its skull.
Initially, I’d thought the fin was simply composed of keratin, but closer inspection has led me to believe that it is actually some kind of sensory organ. Not only, does it decrease Japejara’s turning radius even at high speeds, but it apparently provides Tapejara with extra information to help it fly through the air with unparalleled grace. I've even seen Tapejara hover and strafe side-to-side in the air without moving forward at all. It’s quite remarkable. The creature also makes effective use of razor-sharp claws to catch onto surfaces such as the trunks of tall trees, holding its position indefinitely.
Domesticated
Warlike tribes appear to consider Tapejara the equivalent of a versatile rotor aircraft, capable of rapid positional changes and aggressive agility.
When domesticated the Tapejara is typically outfitted with a unique dual-rider saddle, enabling a passenger to wield handheld weaponry while the pilot takes the reins. And when the Tapejara is latched onto a surface, both the passenger and pilot are able to make full use of their weapons together.
Evidently what this skittering creature lacks in distance-stamina, constitution, and weight carrying capacity, it makes up for in maneuverability and combat versatility.

Important Notice Regarding the Teams
We were approached last night by a tribe who had participated in the Survivor League qualifiers claiming that they should have placed in the top 10. Our early examination of the results indicated that this would have been the case, but due to an error with the fourth member - they were skipped out on. However, upon re-examination of the score, we have found that they are indeed correct and have readjusted the teams accordingly. Tribe YDG have now qualified for the Summer Cup Semi Finals and Tribe Chinese Storytellers will have to compete in this month's league to secure qualification. We will be watching the league as it progresses, in the event that there are not enough qualified full-teams at the end of the league, certain teams will receive invites to the semi final game, based on their performance throughout the two months and previous SotF Experience. Thank you for staying diligent towards the game and letting us know about our error. We apologize for any confusion, and if anyone else would like to get in touch - feel free to do so, just contact [email protected] and all claims will be looked into!
Thanks!
--
These were the teams who had the collected highest points following May’s Survivor League Qualifier Rankings! We’d like to congratulate them on their valiant play and look forward to them participating in the upcoming match next July!
Don’t worry for those of you who haven’t yet qualified, you still have another chance by playing through the 4v4 Survivor League ladder during June (visible in real-time here: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/survivor-league/ )! The scores were pretty close all together, and we’ll be hoping to invite another 10 teams to the match.
The invited teams will be set a special group invite and friends request on Steam from http://steamcommunity.com/id/SoTFLeague/ to get you setup for that match in July!
Good luck to all Survivors out there and let’s see who gets crowned the Season One Summer Cup Champions of ARK: Survival of the Fittest!
Survivor League Winners
We had 3 exciting play off games, one for each mode and these were the contestants who proved that they were the fittest survivors of May! They have earned a place in the Survivor League archive as well as their share of $85,600 in cash!
May Survivor League Championship Winners
This prize pool is actually a bit larger than normal haha. Due to an error on our part during the Playoff FFA Game - we ended up with a 6-way tie for first place, and for this reason - we'll be awarding all players with first place, and then from there going down - so we actually had a total of 15 winners!
We’ll be reaching out to the winners over the coming days to collect the information required to get your prizes sent out to you! Look out for contact made by Jat!
Twitch Stream
If you hadn't had a chance to watch the stream, don't worry - you can check out the vod! We streamed all three matches on our twitch channel where it'll remain available for you guys to watch.
https://www.twitch.tv/survivetheark/v/70490496
The games were casted by TypeForced, a known and avid SotF player and we'd like to thank him for helping us out and covering BikeMan without much notice - there was a bit of a hiccup at the start but it was a great stream nonetheless!
As for the specific matches, you can check out each one when they start here:
FFA: https://www.twitch.tv/survivetheark/v/70543333

Hello Survivors!
Anniversary Week!
And boy, has it already been one we won’t forget :P! There’s been a lot of exciting additions in the recent patch, some which have been worked on for a while and you guys have been waiting for - and some others which required some extra work. We hope you’ll be able to enjoy the content and mechanics that were released :). We'll keep on iterating based upon your feedback and what we see in game. There has been some pretty solid ideas and in future passes hopefully we'll be able to expand the system some further and possibly incorporate some of those ideas. I know it sometimes may seem like you don't think we read the feedback, but we definitely do and hope that you continue to provide it so we're able to make changes. Let’s work together to make ARK a great game!
There was a lot released in the patch, so if you haven’t had a chance to take a look at our detailed notes here:
Some of the new additions that you should try out and that we’re really looking to hear your feedback on would be:
The Dragon Arena
Interactive Baby Taming
No Offline Raiding!
We’ve even set up some Official Servers running this setting! Just search for Offline on your PC Session List.
And let us know what you think :)!
Survivors League
The ARK: Survival of the Fittest May Survivor League Championship matches will take place from 11 am EST to 2 pm EST on Saturday, June 4, with a bounty of more than $65,000 in prizes to that day’s winners!
The championship games will be shoutcasted by streaming personality BikeMan. These matches will be invite-only -- based on the top-ranked players for May 2016. Check https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/survivor-league/ to see who will be participating!
We invite all ARK fans, and the newly curious, to come watch the epic battles at that time on our Twitch channel: www.twitch.tv/survivetheark!
For those that may not yet be familiar with ARK: Survival of the Fittest (http://steamcommunity.com/app/407530), it is a free multiplayer online survival arena (M.O.S.A.) game that pits combatants against one another in battle arena-style competitions within a closed battlefield, where a continually shrinking “ring of death” will push survivors into an epic final showdown with only one “Tribe” making it out alive. The survivors must not only compete against other survivors, but against the harsh environment, unpredictable 'Evolution Events', and ARK's many dangerous creatures as well.
To those competing: may fortune smile upon you, brave Survivors! And we hope the rest of you guys tune in and support the contestants as the duke it out to become the fittest survivor!
ARK Digest Q&A
Here is our question and answer session with Lead Designer, Lead Programmer, Co-Creative Director of ARK: Survival Evolved, and Co-Founder of Studio Wildcard: Jeremy "Drake" Stieglitz!
QuoteSurvivor, Dinofusion asks, “Will you be planning to bring a underwater boss that you had to fight with a scuba suit and megladons and sea creatures?”
In a manner of speaking!
QuoteSurvivor, FantasticGuy1 asks, “Can we expect to see (or should I say "hear") more ambience in the game for better immersion? Crickets, waves and seagulls by the coast, etc.”
Yes, the ambient sounds are going to get a serious pass by our great new audio designer, Stephen Baker.
QuoteSurvivor, BigDally asks, “Can we please have the option of enabling "difficulty 5" on the island map? Currently "The Center" is capable of level 150 dinos, so it would be cool to be able to have these higher level dinos on "The Island" as well.”
Yeah I’ll go ahead and unclamp the map difficulty setting coming up.
QuoteSurvivor, WesenZoo asks, “Will the full version of the game have disc versions or will it all be digital still?”
There will be physical disc versions of the game available sometime after it launches digitally, on all platforms.
QuoteSurvivor, J asks, “Since alpha mosasaurs' have been introduced will we be seeing an alpha megalodon?”
Yep.
QuoteSurvivor, Kotawolf asks, “Any word on Roof gates? These were mentioned months ago.”
We’ll go ahead and finally get them in July
QuoteSurvivor, Victor00 asks, “When will we see improved controller support on PC? Currently its ok but it's not that great.”
I plan to merge up the Xbox’s nice controller support in the next couple months.
QuoteSurvivor, MidnightLady asks, “Whats the plan for Water dino upload capability?”
It’ll be a structure you make with the Tek Tier specifically.
QuoteSurvivor, Mystalias asks, “Can private servers get an ini setting to increase/decrease how fast cooking/smelting structures output finished products?”
Yeah I’ll go ahead expose a Crafting Speed Multiplier to servers, as we did in SotF.
QuoteSurvivor, Im7oxic asks, “Can we please get sever setting on Xbox to allow never force dismount flying. Basically allowing safe flights around and in caves.”
Yes the new game/server options will be added to the Xbox version soon.
QuoteSurvivor, Sicco0803 asks, “Can we get a dino life span, so dino can die because of their age? Also this should/must be a server option to activate or deactivate and set the length and/or how fast it get aged.”
That’s an amusing idea as a server option, though It might be best left to a mod or TC however, where it would not be particularly difficult to do.
QuoteSurvivor, Rofelo asks, “With the introduction of the RPG elements as far as damage indicators, will there be RPG elements built into the gear such as "increase to ranged damage”?”
It’s been tempting whether or not to introduce such “buffs” from gear. I have generally tried to stay away from that since it’s very abstract, but maybe is worth exploring. Will further consider it.
QuoteSurvivor, Starranger asks, “will we be able to build on the upcoming redwood trees? i would love to make an awesome tree house in the redwoods!”
Yep, one of the big points about the redwoods are to build Ewok-style treehouses on them using a new “attached platform” building system
QuoteSurvivor, Drake69 asks, “Is it posibble to change the building indicator system. Sometimes its really to bright on the terrain to see even where you place your structures. Results in many resources being a waste. Maybe an idea to have like a brightness function or other color for placing structures.”
Yeah I’ll make some options to affect this.
QuoteSurvivor, Shocksamurai asks, “since we have a scuba suit for oceans, fur suit for the north and ghillie suit for the swamp could we have a squirrel suit for gliding through the sky?”
There will be some player-based limited-flight capabilities coming up.
QuoteSurvivor, Kimsie asks, “Any chance you might include a server option to disable the markers for the biome changes? I assume they are to stay until the next patch and if possible it'd be great not having them for another 3 weeks”
Will make it a client option next week.
QuoteSurvivor, K1nzCraft asks, “Is there a chance we can have a config setting to change what level you have to be to access supply drops/loot crates? Like changing white drops form level 3 to level 10, red drops from level 60 to 120.”
Yeah, will add that.
QuoteSurvivor, Stage53 asks, “I know it was said you could do this but could plant x get a "wild creatures only" feature?”
Yeah I’ll add wild creatures only, carnivores only, herbivores only, and some other targeting options for Turrets soon.
QuoteSurvivor, JacyKoi asks, “Will we ever be able to toggle resource collecting? I'd like to use my bear and other herbies for battle sometimes but if you're in someplace like the forest, 1-3 clicks and you're burdened with berries or wood. Could there be a way to turn gathering on and off on your dinos?”
Sounds like a good idea, I’ll make it happen.
QuoteSurvivor, GamerPerfection asks, “Can we get the font on ARK SE, i.e. death notifications, resources gathered, etc reduced in size so that it is like the font on SOTF please?”
I’ll add a slider to adjust their size!
QuoteSurvivor, theweegee115 asks, “Have you guys thought about adding health bars for the bosses it would nice to see how effective our dinos and weapons as well as our strategy for taking down these titans are.”
I’ll definitely go ahead and do it for Bosses, as those are timed battles it’s very important to know how effective you are. For regular Dinos, I think there are mods which add that, right?
QuoteSurvivor, Mixit asks, “Just a thought. Since wild dinos drop unfertilised eggs, could they possibly rarely drop fertilised eggs that the player can pickup, take home and imprint on when it hatches.”
I’ve been thinking about that. It’s not a technical challenge, but it might be very unbalancing. Will continue debating it.

Workshop Spotlight!
QuoteHey Survivors!
Hope you are getting ready for a pretty big Primitive+ update! As we draw nearer to the official Primitive+ update, be prepared for some massive changes and balancing. A lot of the content that’s already in the mod will be polished to give it more of a final look. Expect art and textures to change as we move closer to a final release. Recently, I’ve remodeled a few of the existing assets in the game (tanning rack, preserving campfire, baking table). I will also be looking to make sure the textures blend well with the regular assets in the game.
QuoteI’ve also been looking at adding more functionality as we’ve seen in the various traps that were added. An example being carts and wagons. Fingers crossed - you will be seeing these implemented very soon! I’ve also had a lot of requests for tents that you can deploy and walk into for temporary storage. With everyone’s best interest in mind, I’ve added yurts! Yurts are portable, round tent covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia. These should become very useful for people on the go and just need a temporary place to lay their head with relatively low investment of resources.
QuoteThere are also going to be smaller additions that leverage the comprehensive resources in Primitive+. There will be lots of recipes to cook, bake, and share with your friends. I’ll also be adding recipe notes that can be found for some of the more comprehensive recipes and meals you can make. Part of what makes Primitive+ immersive, is the way that the resources are utilized in a good portion of all the assets in the mod. For example, beeswax allows you to make the longbow and used for binding things together but it’s also used for something relatively basic: candles.
QuoteKeep in mind if you are playing on the “official” Primitive+ servers, that they are still test servers. They are subject to frequent changes and more volatility than the existing official servers. Bear with me as we move towards the official release where they will become much more stable. Until then, I’ll be looking to add much more content before we reach a point where it’s just about polish and balancing. No worries, there will still be updates after the official launch but they will be much more regimented and less sporadic. Until then, happy hunting!
Ced

Exciting news Survivors! The Dragon makes its debut in ARK: Survival Evolved on it’s Birthday Week as players can now face off the mighty beast and it's fearsome flyer minions in their epic treacherous volcanic lair! Patch 242 also introduces additional tribe member settings, a training dummy, diseases and cures, interactive baby raising, two new creatures, the Dilplodocus, the Leech and so much more!
On Thursday, the 2nd of June, ARK: Survival Evolved will officially turn One Year Old! Exciting right?! Already a year has gone by and we’d like to celebrate that with you by running a special one-week “ARK Birthday Event” where players can find Candles from Supply crates to craft ARK Birthday Cakes! When each candle is blown out, a special message to the players occur and exclusive items are gifted, including: Player and Dino Party Hats, Fun “Birthday Suits” (censor-pixelization of course ;)), and finally, as everyone knows there’s no party without a cake - a giant ARK Anniversary Birthday Cake which can be consumed for a major XP Buff!
Despite being one of the island’s larger creatures, Diplodocus Insulaprincep is among the Island’s smaller sauropods which allow it to offer maximum speed and greater endurance compared to its giant brethren!
After taming, many tribes equip the beast with a large saddle which allows the Diplodocus to carry as many as 10 passengers! These passengers often use ranged weapons to protect the creature and attack nearby enemies while on the move.
Diplodocus has shown to be a strange creature due to it’s overly trusting nature, which has proven to be quite detrimental to its life. It usually doesn’t flee from predators until after they’ve attacked it repeatedly, preferring instead to make numerous fruitless attempts at friendship. For some strange reason, Diplodocus trust humans so much that it doesn’t seem to fight back against them, ever!
The Leech is one of the more detestable creatures of the island. The disease-carrying blood-sucker, Haementeria Iaetus has practically no intelligence, and merely attaches to any nearby living flesh in an attempt to drain that creature’s blood. Not tamable, the Leech does not provide much of a resource for any tribe, though some have been known to keep them around in order to create antidotes: When process carefully, Haementaria venom can be made into powerful anti-venom!
Removing Haementeria requires precision bladework, or access to an open flame! Both can be nearly as dangerous to the host as to the leech itself. Once the Leech attaches to a host, its drain blood at a rapid pace, and the host will suffer from hunger, loss of health and reduced stamina. Some Haementeria are also carriers for a dangerous disease known as ‘Swamp Fever’, which persists permanently beyond the Leech’s own lifespan.
Alongside the special event and the new creatures, players will be able to take advantage of the new structure: Training Dummy which will display floating Damage Per Second values indicating how strong each dino attack actually is, while the new mechanic, Permanent Diseases & Cures, will enable players to deliberately infect Dodos to use them as Disease Vectors! If you get a permanent disease, it persists even beyond respawn and you will need to cure it with an antidote using the blood of the leeches!
And now for all the juicy details about today's patch!
-
Dragon Arena & Dragon Boss Fight
-
Breeding Mechanics Phase 2: Interactive Baby Raising (cuddle with your Dino babies, pet, walk, and hand-feed them for extra benefits and greater affinity for whoever raised them once they grow up!)
-
Optional RPG Stat Mode: Displays floating in-world damage numbers for all Player-Related Damage Events.

-
Servers can now optionally enable an "offline raiding prevention" mode which will make Dinos/Structures invincible if no owner is logged-in (indicated via the head whether the owner player/tribe is logged-in or not). Recommend that server owners utilize this with care, as it may have undesired side effects in a competitive environment
-

-
Added Alpha Mosasaurus (contains lots of Black Pearls)

-
Plant Turrets now consume Fertilizer per shot, and also will not shoot if no water is in the crop plot.
-

So it’s a big one guys! We hope you have a fantastic time with the update and enjoy the special event, we are so grateful for all the support you show us and hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate many more special occasions together, in our Birthday Suits!

41 minutes ago, Yutyrannus said:
Every dossier lately is making this game seem more like zoo tycoon with the occasional dinosaur, rather a prehistoric animal based survival game. This is literally just a big pelican.
I actually still play Zoo Tycoon, maybe once a year. After my zoo gets super successful, I block off the exit and let the animals free.
-
Common Name: Pelagornis
Species: Pelagornis Miocaenus
Time: Early Miocene
Diet: Piscivorous
Tempearment: SkittishWild
The much larger ancestor of water birds like the stork or pelican, Pelagornis Miocaenus shares many traits with its modern-day brethren. However, it seems to spend much more time hunting for fish over the open deep-sea.
In fact, I have rarely spotted a wild Pelagornis anywhere near the coasts of the main Island, as it prefers to rest its wings by paddling along on the ocean’s surface rather than waddling across the Island’s beaches.
Perhaps this behaviour is a result of its survival instrincts. The Early Miocene was a post-dinosaur epoch, after all, and Pelagornis would not be accustomed to such predators. Considering how quickly it flees from humans, one can hardly blame its caution.
Domesticated
Because of its ability to fly, walk, and surface-swim, a tamed Pelagornis is one of the Island’s most versatile mounts, but this comes at a cost. The same webbed feet that allow Pelagornis to serenely maneuver along the ocean’s surface prevent it from snatching prey from the ground, which may limit its appeal to some survivors.
Patch 242!
Just an update on 242 guys! We’re still working on it, it’s a pretty large patch as you can imagine from checking out the notes, which we’re constantly updating:

Hey Survivors!
Earlier this month in a Community Crunch we announced that later on we would be making some very large biome changes to The Island. Part of this change would be introducing a new zone, known as the Redwood Forest and also slightly expanding the size of the Snow Biome.
This is a map you can use to help identify the areas where The Island will receive some changes and it’s makeover.
The blue area represents the new size of the Snow Biome. The orange area represents the location of the new Redwood Biome and the green-area represents part of the Swamp that is also being turned into Redwood.
Something we will always try to avoid is making drastic map changes as we know it can be unsettling for players to have to be concerned about relocating their base, however in some cases we have to go ahead and make those changes for the development of the game. We apologize if this does cause any inconvenience and we really hope you enjoy the upcoming biome changes!
Whilst we prepare for launching the new biomes we said we’d be updating the in-game environment with 3D Markers to help indicate areas that will be undergoing change. These markers will be brought into the game on Wednesday and here’s what you can expect them to look like!
That’ll give you an idea of whether you need to make any plans to move or not
CONTEST: The Center Boss Fight!

Xbox Patch 736!

The Center, a massive new ARK map which was created by modder Ben Burkart, is the first to be made into an Official Mod, following the announcement of the Official Mods Program.
Venture through The Center’s stunning new biomes and caves so large that they facilitate their own living eco-system.
The massive map doubles the in-game playable geography of the already enormous ARK landscape making it roughly 70 sq. kilometers. The Center is filled with stunning lighting effects, lava rivers, giant picturesque mountains, misty floating islands, ancient underground ruins, enormous ice caves, and of course beyond the breathtaking sights lay dangerous threats and mysterious secrets to unravel with you and your tribe-mates.
The Center is free for all ARK: Survival Evolved players, and for those who have yet to adventure into the mysterious dino-inhabited world, you’re in luck as ARK: Survival Evolved is now on sale for Steam Players for 33% off and on Xbox One via the ID@Xbox Program for 25%-off for Gold Members and 15%-off for Silver Members!
To get a hold of the DLC for Steam, just head over here and you'll be able to pick it up for free!
The Center was crafted completely by hand without any auto-generated content, it will use it’s own save data, with separate options to reset the save data for each individual map. Survivors!
Earlier in the year we began slowly unravelling some of the mysteries that surround the ARK. We started off with showing off some of the Explorer Notes, and now we’d like to introduce you guys to another part of the story, the Ruins!
Various historical ruins will be found all across the ARK, we encourage survivors to go on adventures and seek them out as they hold the key into unlocking the secrets of the ARK, providing insight into its true nature! Through the hundreds of handcrafted notes and logs found at these locations, you’ll learn about the backstories of the Survivors in whose footsteps you follow, and what their fates may have been -- or perhaps uncover the hidden recipes to powerful dishes, or even what the Wildcard devs drink to avoid sleeping
Who knows! Intrepid Survivors will have to find out by going on the hunt to uncover them all -- the first set of Ruins & Explorer Notes releases with the forthcoming Biome update!
...And one more thing: Are you ready to stake your claim on The Center tomorrow? Because It's Ready For You!!! We'll see all you Survivors on this new ARK tomorrow afternoon, on Xbox and PC!
All the best,
Wildcard Jat and the ARK: Survival Evolved Team!

Hello Survivors!
Welcome to Community Crunch 47! The Crunch is a weekly topic that consist of content to share, made by the community, for the community! As well as any little changes we want to make survivors aware about, which happen within our community.
Official Mods Program Debut: The Center
So, you might think this isn’t a community update - but it is! The Center originally started out, similarly to Primitive+, as a Community-made mod! During PAX East 2016 we were excited to announce that both The Center and Primitive+ would be making it’s way officially to both the console and PC version of the game!
Well the time has come, a lot of hard-work has gone into the map from the team and we’re super excited about launching it on Xbox in the coming week! We hope you guys enjoy playing through this visually stunning mod, that adds an over-the-top, fantasy-themed map that doubles the size of the current game with tons of new biomes, including snow and volcanic, caves so large in size that they have their own living eco-system, floating islands, end-of-the-world waterfalls, massive ancient ruins, along with other wonders to explore and secrets to find!
Awesome right?!
ARK: Biome Changes!
(Yes.. I'm mentioning it again, just so everyone is made aware of the change, haha!)
In the last Community Crunch we posted some upcoming changes to the Biomes. That map was a little confusing as it included the new sizes of all the biomes, as opposed to the changes itself - and following that, we've gone ahead and made some further changes to what that turned out to be. Here are the new biome changes:
QuoteKey:
Blue area == Changes occurring in this area are to highlight the new Snow Biome. The previous biome will receive a touch-up / some alterations and adjustments which may affect your base. So there are some slight landscape/terrain changes made throughout the biome.
Orange area == This is the new Redwood biome. It will be replacing the previous existing
Jungle/Mountain area that was here before.Green area == This is the swamp biome that will turn into Redwood.
The Old Snow Biome has received some changes, the extent of which is difficult to quantify, it is closer to a touch-up as opposed to a re-do. There is a chance this could affect bases in that location, which is why we wanted to include it on the map to give you guys the option as to whether to relocate or not, however it is also likely that they are not significant enough to cause you any disruption.
The other highlighted areas, are areas of change. The swamp isn't being made into a tiny small piece, it is still rather large - it's just a far majority of it will be unaffected by this map change, which is why it is not highlighted on the map - however the areas that are highlighted, will change.
We try to avoid making drastic map changes as we know it can be unsettling for players to have to be concerned about relocating their base, however sometimes we have to go ahead and make those changes for the development of the game. We apologize if this does cause any inconvenience and we really hope you enjoy the upcoming biome changes
Don't worry if it's a little confusing! We'll be updating the in-game environment with 3D markers indicating areas that will be undergoing a change!

Workshop Spotlight!
This week we take a look with Cedric at the Madagascar Evolved map for ARK!
Cedric: So I'm here with Itsr2ghgaming, one of the developers on the Madagascar Evolved map! Hey man! I just checked out your map and I must say, there's some cool things you guys are working on. Why don't you tell us a little about yourself and the other developer that works on this!
QuoteChandler: Well.. My name is Chandler im 16 years old I am currently attending highscool! My partner on this map is Joe he just graduated high school and has moved onto college. We are both ambitious young men wanting to make a map for the ARK Community in a different perspective no one has experienced in ARK!
Cedric: That's awesome man! I love to see fellow modders working together! So is game design/development something that you want to pursue at the next level of your education? If not, what do you plan on studying? What made you want to get involved in the ARK modding scene?
QuoteChandler: Umm... Game Design is something I have thought of majoring in ever since I began developing Madagascar because, I really enjoy level design! But I've always since I was a kid wanted to go into the military then study Criminal Justice and become a detective! So im still figuring out what's the best route for me. What got me involved in the ARK modding community was the beautiful maps I was coming across and total conversions, they inspired me to learn and create something of my own.
Cedric: Detective!? I may need your business card in the future
So how did Madagascar Evolved come about? I did a video review of it and its one of the maps that actually feel like you've been dropped in a real live location. Is that something you both were going for
QuoteChandler: I'll make sure to get you one if I get there
Madagascar came about my friend Joe and I were talking about the contest and it was late May and I said lets do something that hasn't been done yet! And so we looked around and I proposed the idea of a Madagascar to the next level back in Dinosaur Ages, so we started with that and ever since then we have been working every day on it for the past 6 weeks! Ah yes the actual feel of being dropped in a real live location is exactly what we are going for, When I think of this map im thinking about running down the plain being chased by a lion. hat's what I want everyone else to feel too! I was the only one going for that feeling when we first started but I convinced him that its an awesome feeling and has to be done!
Cedric: It really is! There was a point when I was reviewing when I had hoped to see a pack of lions!! So being 6 weeks into the development, are there certain things you focus on first?? What are your next steps for the map?
QuoteChandler: Yes... Later on we will be learning to model ourselves and develop a 3D model of a lion for the map! Our development is really being focused on landscape and finishing biomes right now! We wanna get the map filled in and polish it up after. The reason we are focusing on biomes first is because we want it to be as finished as possible for the contest! Our next steps in the map are working on the beaches and ocean and lakes to get more water sources for the players and ocean space for the boat lovers
Then we will do more caves and polishing of the biomes, while of course bug fixes in between
Cedric: Well it sounds like you've got a good plan and the community seems to be in love with this map! I know I will be making sure I keep my eyes on it. Is there any advice you would give to other people wanting to get involved with level design with the ARK Development Kit?
QuoteChandler: The community had a better reaction than I thought. I love the feedback I receive from the community... Yes definitely keep your eyes on it, updates are going to come big and quick throughout the next month or so! My advice would be to follow your dreams and ideas, if you want to make a mod or map make sure to YouTube tutorials and for sure check out the unreal forums!! The forums has been a big help for me.
Cedric: Well it's been fun chatting with you. I'm sure we'll all be hearing a lot from you. Any parting words for the fans or Wildcard?
QuoteChandler: Yes it's been fun chatting with you as well! Yup you might be hearing from me sometime In the future... What I'd like to say to my fans is be ready for a mass amount of content filled updates, and to wildcard thank you for giving me the opportunity to use the ADK and create a map map for your game! I love your game and your team keep up the awesome work! Thank you for the chance to participate in this weeks crunch and interview
Primitive Plus Developers Blog!
QuoteHey fellow Survivors. It’s Ced and I’m excited about some things coming for Primitive Plus. I’ve been getting lots of feedback from existing players and those new to Primitive Plus. There have been lots of comments on the lack of balance for PVP and raiding mechanics. Without further ado, let’s get into it!!
QuoteIn the next update barrels of gunpowder can be used as a primitive explosive. Using these won't be possible without some risks. The countdown to detonation will be a variable and there will be a slight chance of misfiring when using these. I think this balances out the risk/reward properly especially in a primitive based environment. In addition to explosives, I’ll be introducing the grinding stone. The grinding stone will be used to sharpen (upgrade) your metal weapons. This should allow for a more rewarding PVP scenario. I’ll also be introducing more melee weapons and possibly siege weapons in the near future! Please believe that I will continue to focus on making this a great experience for those who prefer PVP or the RP/PVE crowd that Primitive Plus tends to cater to.
QuoteTo keep with the primitive theme of trapping, the next update will include more traps! This week I’ll be introducing the tried but true deadfall trap. I’ll also be upgrading the trapping system to show different animals caught in the trap and several other minor changes. If you enjoy the trapping system, let me know and I’ll look at introducing traps for bigger game. I’m also interested in your ideas in improving the system.
QuoteIncluded in the next update are some quality of life improvements as well. The windmill will allow for automatically processing grains, specialized storage boxes for different types of resources, and hanging cabinets to make your base feel like home! There will also be some new plants introduced should you ever find yourself under the weather
Be sure to look out for some new meals and consumables introduced in the next updates as well!
In the update following, I will be focusing on the existing and new structures (like the adobe-themed set) to make sure they are as polished as possible. Last but not least, we converted server 1 to The Center last week and ever since, it has been a little hard to get some play time in on that server. We are looking at the possibilities of opening up another one! As always, let me know what your thoughts are and and suggestions are!!
Ced

Common Name: Purlovia
Species: Purlovia Maxima
Time: Late Permian
Diet: Carnivore
Tempearment: PatientWild
Purlovia Maxima perfectly embodies the element of surprise. Though Nanictidopids such as Purlovia were once thought to be herbivores, I discovered that this creature is, in fact, a patient hunter of the most clever sort.
After burrowing beneath the jungle floor, Purlovia enters a state of hibernation, and can go extended periods without any food. When some unfortunate create eventually wanders by, Purlovia dramatically bursts forth from the ground, tearing into its prey with its large canines before the victim can react.
Domesticated
Though Purlovia is ill-suited to the life of a mount, its usefulness in staging an ambush or as a village guardian cannot be understated. With a tamed pack of Purlovia, one could assemble a literal minefield of deadly claws and teeth.
However, any ambushes using Purlovia must be planned well in advance, as it will refuse to hibernate if it senses any threat nearby.
Upcoming Biome Changes!
In the last Community Crunch we posted some upcoming changes to the Biomes. That map was a little confusing as it included the new sizes of all the biomes, as opposed to the changes itself - and following that, we've gone ahead and made some further changes to what that turned out to be. We apologize if this does cause any inconvenience and we really hope you enjoy the upcoming biome changes
Don't worry if it's a little confusing! We'll be updating the in-game environment with 3D markers indicating areas that will be undergoing a change!
Here's a little sneak-preview of what's to come, and we'll be showing off some more later on as we get closer to release
Thanks guys!

Exciting news Survivors! The Megapithecus makes their debut in ARK: Survival Evolved as players can now face off the mighty beast and it's army of giant apes and monkey minions in their epic snowy-mountain lair. Patch 240 also introduces tribe member rankings, a new form of primitive combat, and three new creatures, the Arthropleura, Sabertooth Salmon and Lystrosaurus!
Lystrosaurus Aicifidelis: About two feet long, the loyal Lystrosaurus Aicifidelis is a small, resilient herbivore, that learns fast and therefore gains experience much more quickly than most other creatures, while also recovering its torpor and health much faster than most creatures. Its presence inspires allies, making them learn and gain experience more rapidly, too.
Arthropluera Felsanguis is large and a very aggressive hunter. It is almost entirely a military mount, useful mostly for attacking at a distance, and, thanks to its unique defenses, Arthropleura is generally safe from all but the largest of creatures. Arthropleura has acidic blood which it keeps ready to spit at its prey.
Oncorhynchus Grexlamia more commonly known as a Sabertooth Salmon, is a generally passive fish that swims in large schools for protection. Like many of the smaller fish on the Island, Oncorhynchus cannot be tamed, but it is often herded and raised for its resources. Certain ‘cuts’ are considered superb quality, and are often referred to as “Prime Fish” used for specific high-end concoctions. Once provoked, however, Oncorhynchus becomes very aggressive: It locks onto the aggressor with its long “saberteeth” to drain blood. Alone, this isn’t a worry, but when a school of them attack at once, their would-be aggressor quickly loses speed and stamina from bloodloss, drowning if it cannot breath underwater.
This patch also introduces the Primitive Bola! Wind these up and toss them at players and smaller creatures to temporarily trip and ensnare them. It can even used to knock enemy riders off their mounts, or pull down flyers from the sky! And finally the introduction of Tribe Member Rankings with Customizable Per-Rank Privileges! This enables Tribes to create arbitrary "Sub-Groups" within their Tribe, name them, and give them all kinds of detailed rank-based access privileges on your structures, inventories, and creatures. Effectively you can now create your very own caste-based society, with Kings, Nobles, Lords, and Serfs, etc!
We hope you guys enjoy the latest update, good luck conquering the Megapithecus, collecting your prime-fish, devastating acidic arthropod and of course the loyal and loveable Lystrosaurus!

Workshop Spotlight!
Hey Survivors! So I'm here with the team that brought you Pimp My Dino. Why don't we get some brief introductions for the team and what your role on the team is!
QuoteMunch - Ok, so, I'm the community manager of Pimp my Dino, I write most of the text you can read around the mod, in English and in French, as much as I can, and I also create the "Dodu's" armors. I'm currently working on the wolf's armor and I've got plan for some aquatic dinos. Gawelle modeled the stag's armor and worked on some trike's armor coming soon. Amitiel worked on the rex's leather armor and the concept for the pimped smithy.
Papukaijah - Well that's my turn, my name is Pierre Jourdan (Papukaijah) I'm the leader of the project, I made mesh and textures of the Rex chitin armor, the Rex metal armor, Argent armor, Raptor armor, Frog armor, all Spino armors, all trophys and furnitures and the textures of the Stag armor
Danco - I am the technical artist on the project, I made the skin on all the dino, I also made the armor for pulmonoscorpius and some integration it in the dev kit and am working on armor for Giganotosaurus & Quetzalcoatlus for the next updates.
Wow, its so awesome to see a group of artists/modders working together. The community needs more of that. So tell me how the group formed. Who's idea was it to create this awesome mod?
QuoteMunch - We're all students in the same school, we played Ark during the past summer, and had many ideas that we wanted to see in the game, waiting to see more update. Then Papukaijah saw the first Ark's contest and he did share it to our team. This sounded like a great idea but we all had a lot of work so the team wasn't able to work on it.
But Papukaijah manage to organize us all to work on what became our first mod: Pimp My Rex, from an idea that we all acclaimed, Dino's armors. At this time only four of us manage to work on this mod but with the success we had, some of our friends were motivated to work with us, that how we got a team of 6 CG Artist Students.
As I'm (munch) an animator I didn't had a lot to do on the first mod, but as I'm the most understandable in English, I wrote all the background and description and also made the dodo armor
That's so amazing!! It’s clear that its a fan favorite and the art is absolutely fantastic.. What is your inspiration for the art style? There's some very creative styles for the armor.
QuotePapukaijah - From a lot of references, like real existing armor, Dinotopia, World of Warcraft, Narnia, Ark's armor ....
Munch - And a lot of references found on google too... But as we've all had a creative formation, with all these references we can make our own new stuff.
I always like to see what the inspiration is behind the art we see in ARK mods. Obviously you all are talented and have put a ton of work into the mod! What are your future plans for this mod and do you have any plans for a mod outside of Pimp My Dino?
QuoteMunch - We've got a lot of plans, I'd like to make the dodo more useful, with a bag or a chest, and add a little C4 pocket on the side actionable with a remote control...
We're currently working on new armors for the mod. We will had some function to custom the armors' cost for each server, as every player have different requests.
We will probably update the texture to optimize the mod.
As we're almost graduate, some of us will look for a job, as Papukaijah (really interested by Ark) and Inpas, some others will work on a game project named Shogun No Kamigami (a project on which Danco, Gawelle, Papukaijah, Amitiel, and Munch), or Shattered: Tale Of The Forgotten King(Danco, Amitiel, Munch, this project is currently on Square Enix Collective), so we have some idea but as the team must be a bit split up in the next month, we'd like to focus on this mod for now and keep it updated as much as we can. But I keep the exploding dodo's idea in mind, (probably for this mod ; ) don't worry!Wow, it's amazing to see you keep up with this when you have school and other things going on. It's also amazing the type of opportunities that can arise from creating mods. I know one opened up for me. Tell me what advice you would give to other modders are artists trying to get started?
QuoteWell, when we made Pimp My Rex, we had no idea of how Unreal worked, we just knew how to use some 3D software, but we manage to find everything in the community, on youtube, and by trying ourselves. This is really an open community, we found answers for our questions in the Ark workshop or on the dedicated forum section, so we manage to learn everything to make ours mods, and here we are. So if you want to make mod, learn as much as you can, contact moders, ask them, they're often wanting to help. And when people can't answer to your question, go on youtube, on dedicated forum or website, because most of the time, someone already had the same problem as you, and already found an answer.
So stay curious and willing to learn. There is nothing that you can't learn if you're interested and if you want to.
We created a facebook page for our mod, and new modders want to ask us some question, it would probably be the best way to contact us as we can't always check our Steam's page.
So here it is if you want to check: https://www.facebook.com/PimpMyDino/
Well I'm sure we'll be hearing lot more from all of you. Thanks for chatting with me!! That's all I have, any last words for your fans, community, or the Wildcard team?

and for Mr. Cedric's Primitive+ Update!
QuoteHey fellow survivors! It’s Ced here and I wanted to give you a quick update on what’s going on in the Primitive+ world! Hopefully you’ve heard the exciting news of Primitive+ going to consoled. It’s going to be an exciting ride and I owe it all to you fans for helping me polish and refine the mechanics in it. We are looking at some time in August to deploy to XBox, so it will be important, you keep me updated with all your suggestions for content and balancing.
Recently we deployed version 1.3 which added the fruit press, fruit juice, and a host of other optimization related changes. There were also several art changes to help with some of the performance issues you’ve been keeping me up to date on. As we march towards August, there will likely be lots of additions and things that break. I’m also going to ramp up the development pace so I can fit all of the great ideas in for the first XBox launch. For those of you that followed Primitive+ before the first mod contest, you know this means frequent updates. I will be sure to communicate the updates days in advance to give time for server owners to prep.
For those who aren’t familiar with Primitive+ or would like to see it in action, myself and Forest will be streaming today at 7PM EST on twitch.tv/survivetheark. Come watch us make a fool of ourselves and learn more about Primitive+!!
With that said, back to the lab….. Or a nap
Oh,
- Ced

ARK Trip Wire and Baby Notifications
in General Discussion
Posted
Hello Survivors,
With Patch 243 we were able to unveil a new feature that will work as an ARK Notification system. Official Server players will be able to be notified when their trip-wires have been set off or their babies have hatched/been birthed via the ARK Alarm system on our Community Hub and through their own email (which you can of course use to get push notifications straight to your phone!)
To get this enabled for you, all you'll need to do is make sure you're signed up to:
https://survivetheark.com/
From here, ensure that your STEAM ACCOUNT is linked to your COMMUNITY ACCOUNT (or register via your STEAM ACCOUNT).
And then head into your notifications menu, which you'll see on the right hand side of this menu:
https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/settings/
and make sure you've enabled your how you would like to be notified.
Please note that this will only work if you're in a tribe!
You'll get the message in the email as
"ARK In Game Notification"
Hope you enjoy the feature!
