Few creatures on the island can compare to the size and pure power of the Dreadnoughtus. Living in the late Cretaceous, these giants roam where they please among the giant redwoods, plains, and swamps. Only the largest of carnivores dare to hunt these giants, and very rarely succeed. I even once witnessed a Giga attempt to hunt a herd of these giants, and watched it brawl with the herd's alpha male. The Giga's teeth barely broke through the skin when it bit at the Dreadnoughtus's neck, which allowed the giant to impale the predator with its sharp thumb-claw. This creature's skin is unusually tough, stronger than some metals after examining the corpse of one that fell to its death. This is what allows it to thrive over other large creatures, that and the fact that they travel in herds of up to four. Herds are controlled by an alpha male, who is constantly vigilant and protects the herd. They are normally docile around small creatures and humans, but become extremely aggressive when provokes or approached by a large carnivore. When threatened, the male can produce a trumpet that disorients any creature caught in earshot. The females aren't as easily provoked as the males. but they can use their weight to smash and break the ground around them that makes it difficult for anything pursuing it to traverse it.
Only the most advanced tribes even think about hunting this behemoth. Close ranged attacks are utterly useless, as anything aggressive that gets too close is easily crushed. Hunting parties often use firearms or other long-distance weapons to hunt the Dreadnoughtus, aiming for the vulnerable area at its throat underneath its chin. Even then, hunting parties rarely return without casualties hunting this giant. However, the rewards are worth the risk to many, as the hide of the Dreadnoughtus is four times as efficient and durable as regular hide, some tribes even implement it into crafting some items that they would normally use metal for.
Taming this giant is nearly as difficult as killing it is. Its skin is too thick for the usual tranquilizing darts and arrows, so harpoons are the only narcotic weapon that can effect it. This weapons short range makes the risk high, as the trumpets from the male render its attackers immobilized and easily crushed. However, I've heard that organized attack runs from small mounted units can be very effective, as the Dreadnoughtus is incredibly slow, much like its large compatriot the Bronto.
Once tamed, very few things can challenge a tribe with this dinosaur in any regards. Its massive size allows it to carry tons of resources as well as fell entire forests, making gathering wood and thatch easy. Warmongering tribes can use its sheer power to destroy defensive barriers or provide shielding cover for smaller and more agile units to approach, as the Dreadnoughtus can shrug off bullets and rockets. Some tribes have modified the platform saddles used on Brontos to fit the Dreadnoughtus, usually placing siege weapons on it. Almost all outfit these saddles with a set of war drums, and this seems to have an unusual effect on the dinosaurs. Perhaps it is the deep vibrations that sound similar to the ones they use to communicate, but whenever the drums are played on their backs, they seem to move faster and less resistant, as if motivated. Further research will need to be conducted to test this theory...
Real Life: Existed in the late Cretaceous
Stood 20 ft at the shoulder
85 ft long
Weighed 65 tons
In-Game Abilities: High health and mostly high damage, high weight, slow speed and low stamina
Damage boost received identical to Trike's when in presence of a large carnivore
Armor buff similar to the Shadowmane's
Has Alpha boost for highest level male
Male ability includes fear roar, possible longer effect on large carnivores
Female ability includes ground stomp, hinders nearby enemies and has high knockback
Attacks: (based on camera angle) Forward stomp, tail swipe, kick, possible heavy rearing slam
Weaknesses: Area underneath chin, headshots are slightly more effective but not as much as throat area
Resource harvesting: Efficient at gathering wood and thatch, drops a unique leather that's 4x more efficient than normal leather, uses less to make items, leather can be implemented into crafting items instead of using metal, for example flak armor perhaps
Intended uses: Fighting large carnivores and siege dinosaur
