  1. Played the isle back when Dondi was on his big power trip. Those were...dark days to say the least. I primarily get my pure Dino fix now from PoT which is pretty satisfying. As for the anky behavior I was more so going back to what I was talking about regarding how the game version could have abilities one could feasibly see in a real world counter part since both are built for thumping things really hard. The ankylosaurs big enough to ride were absolute units of muscle and hardened plates so I could definitely see them being able to crack at least some types of stone. A middle ground is definitely what I feel the game needs, if only to make people more inclined to try and actually enjoy the game for what it is rather than trying to fast track their way to the end game. If the ideas you suggested one acting like a portable bed in particular seems like a really good one. My guess for that would be something from the pleistocene era, perhaps diprotodon, or maybe even add the haast eagle and give it a roosting ability where it covers the player to let them sleep like it would a chick so you have an incredibly mobile bed if you decide you prefer the nomadic life rather than making a permabase where people could bother you.
  2. Even still it just gets a bit over the top for my tastes at some point. I could see an ankylosaurid being able to break open types of rock with a good thump of its tail. Maybe not anything containing a metal that isn't soft or brittle in composition, but it'd be feasible if they did it as a threat display, territory marker, or to show off fitness for mating rights. My primary gripe is more just how each time things get a little more crazy. Sorta sets a precedent where people will stop being wowed by just having a dinosaur and just want something crazy because everything new is some cracked super dinosaur that can do stuff like what rhynio can. Leaves the paleobiology crowd in an awkward position y'know?
  3. Whacky stuff's fun an all, but a splash of something more grounded every now and then wouldn't hurt
  4. You could just summarize your post by saying "I don't actually know what I'm doing in game and want to bite things with big carnivores". It's a lot simpler than spilling that gruel in text form where my eyes can see it.
  5. Not everything's gotta be pvp geared. Some people just want something to help with QOL after getting the tek disabling baboon, night raid geared bat, and the all terrain dragonfly/reaper monstrosity.
  6. To be fair, even if they aren't beat for beat the same there's several creatures in game that are at least reasonably similar to their real world counterparts. Utahs (if you ignore the broken wrists), dire wolves, thylas, rhinos, bears, megalodons, sarcs, the list goes on. They'd do about what you'd expect the real things to do. Then they go balls to the wall and make things like araneos who spit silk (yes I know there's a species of spider that does this but at araneo's size they'd realistically just over power their prey and like modern bird spiders the sheer force of the bite and fang size would kill it before the venom had a chance to), deinonychus scaling sheer cliffs, and tropeos with the jaw power to grind hard objects to their base components. Wildcard's jumping the shark so hard it's kissing the stratosphere with some of their creatures.
  7. Minecraft and Conan exiles offer a similar experience. Not beat for beat the same mind you, but a similar experience. The survival genre is far from new.
  8. So they basically ripped off the concavenator mod and added some stuff? This is like the equivalent of the "I'll let you copy my homework, just don't make it look the same" meme, is it not?
  9. Guess we'll chalk it up to human nature then. Still I can't help but feel like it happens more now than it did when I was younger. Granted it may just be I didn't notice it being as prevalent then
  10. Such is life in the participation trophy era. People would rather there be no negatives or at least be unaware of them than accept the idea of loss. Back in my day we took the loss on the chin and kept going. [insert old man cane waving here]
  11. God no that's stupid. People have the right to express whether or not they like or dislike a submission rather than being forced into a hugbox where they can only give positive votes. Claiming it's all abuse just because you don't like the outcome doesn't mean it's actually abuse.
  12. The issue isn't whether or not you had an account prior to this. The issue is whether you vote for this creature because nexxus suggested it or because you actually like it. I mean look at how absolutely bot tier most of the replies are. People are churning out one word low effort replies as if assuming it would count as a vote for this very late entry. Frankly I'm glad new accounts can't vote, this would have been completely unfair to everyone else.
  13. Why should he? They can use a translator if they want to know what he said rather than just expecting him to speak a language he may not know
  14. It's still gonna happen bruv. Wildcard doesn't want to divide resources or risk a large swathe of players just deciding to do the sensible thing and stay out where they already invested time and energy making and taming things.
  15. Until the finalist poll opens you vote by upvoting your choices on the submissions page
  16. Problem is ark is not Conan exiles. It's a different and far more buggy animal. Better to leave more advanced AI to modders.
  17. The idea of something that can do most everything a player can seems a tad much. I could understand if you could use them to do more simple tasks like maintaining crops if given fertilizer or maybe repairing structures if given the proper materials out of combat, but having what's essentially an NPC is a stretch.
  18. A pretty amusing idea, especially given the fact that there aren't any pinnipeds in the game. The fact that it can also inadvertently get you killed may or may not bring me a great amount of mirth at the thought of someone running from a yuty in the tundra and diving into the water, having a mini panic attack at the seal coming at them until they realize it's friendly, and then having a stronger panic attack when they realize it's basically shoving you right back to the thing that was trying to kill you by trying to help you.
  19. Guess when they said Saturday they meant next Saturday 🙃
  20. Funny thing is I along with several admins on my team decided to test what the issue was and found something truly odd. Wild spawns don't cause it nor do gmsummons, it's literally just the babies that you hatch out. Essentially it screws over anyone that tries to get these things in the legitimate way.
  21. Huh, I thought it was just my server having some sorta hiccups and was about to rain hell down on someone at nitrado. Good to know I'm not alone but it would've been nice not to lose several imprinted creatures after literal hours of hunting a decent level.
  22. Knowledge will most definitely be the thing that screws over the new players. People tend to gloss over the fact that just because everyone will be a Bob again doesn't mean it will be equal footing across the board. Take a long time player and a new player and give them both the task to kill the other at the end of the week and the long timer will likely have sniped the new guy who came with a spear and slingshot with a longneck from cover the second the clock strikes 12
  23. Lol, lmao even. No they couldn't. They and anyone foolish enough to spend that much for a single game with one dlc out would be reamed into the dirt so hard they'd be able to take selfies with the planet's molten core.
  24. You assume it will do that. No one here, you included, knows what it will do.
  25. Thing about cheaters though is that they'll inevitably find a workaround. It's an arms race. An incredibly stupid arms race that makes me both shudder in fear/shake my head in disgust at the wasted potential at what the cheaters could do if either interested in more malicious deeds or had they turned their talents and effort to more positive endeavors, but an arms race nonetheless.
