Give me the fee any day, running your own server is nowhere near the same as oficcial servers.

And for every player who ponied up the fee, another would stop playing because they don't like Ark enough to pay for it.  Now there are fewer players on your servers paying the bills.  Now people are leaving because there's less population.  Servers still need to be maintained to satisfy the players who are left, time to raise fees to cover those costs.  Now those folks don't want to pay twice as much to play, so down go the servers.  But hey, the game was glitch-proof for 90 days.

How about you don’t put something online that doesn’t work. That’s sounds about F-in right.

Fair enough.  What kind of solution would you suggest?

A team of people to sink thousands of hours into making everything work perfectly?  Gonna cost money.  You prepared to start paying a monthly sub fee?  May as well run your own server if you have to pay, right?

The only other option would be to offline the servers.  The thunder from the players would echo through these corridors like the gusts of a thousand winds.

Seems like the option that doesn't cost the players any money and doesn't cost the company a bunch of customers is the option we have now. Almost like a compromise, isn't it?

  3. So far I've just stared at a download progress screen and watched the Flintstones.  Might name my next few hatchlings Pebbles and Bam Bam.

Once I can actually play the game again, I'm going to hit the argy and direwolf breeding facilities and then work on my terra cotta soldiers (mannequins) project at one of my decoy bases.

  4. Tried to tame a titanosaur with a stolen Mek, but I think I need the cannon attachment thing.  Sword didn't seem to be doing much.

Culled some more newborn wolf cubs.  Down to the last attempted combo of stats and color, and RNG has not been on my side.  Once I get the final line going, I can upgrade the guard dogs at all of my bases.

Just made a bunch of mannequins and am currently going through my stockpile of flak armor from my gachas.  I'm going to pay homage to the terra cotta soldiers.

  5. Logged on, bred new black/orange argy with my line, culled the baby.

Watched Netflix all night, hopping over to Ark every 15 minutes to run in a circle and open a door to keep from being booted for inactivity.

Ran a few loads of advanced bullets before bed.  Not sure why, my server is pretty much deserted.

  6. Finished a trap shack I started last night.  Evil church/temple with bait and  some nasty surprises in it.  Should be good for a few loot bags this week.

Worked on my direwolf breeders.   Unfortunately, I suck at breeding mammals and always forget about them during gestation, so it's taking forever.

Built a new bunker with dual industrial grills at the bottom of the ledge that borders my territory.  Now I won't have to navigate Big Red through the trees all the way up to base at the end of meat runs.

Freshened up the ferts in the greenhouse/bee house I built to speed up sweetcake production.  Not sure why, since I don't use cakes.  They may come in handy for trade, though.

So... newbies. To help or not to help.

There is a new girl on the server, always asking questions - always polite.

I have always helped new players, given them tames to give them a little lift and last night was no exception, a born 275 Ptera and a 150 Event Purple and Green Clone Wyv.

I left them to it whilst put out my Gigas I had no intention of raising (2x485s and 1 x535) as my delivery of 615MD hasnt arrived from a friend yet - thought I may as well raise them as back ups so I can say at least I did something with the 2x rates etc.

Tribemate popped on, saw the messages from newbie and was like 'Ive given up helping newbies as it takes away their experience and they always lose whatever I give them within an hr anyway'.

Low and behold, I see a message an hr later that they have lost their Ptera and Wyv... the question is, have I made their game a lot less enjoyable as they now believe they have lost something so important to them - but was it really that important?

Maybe I shouldnt give them tames, but I always do... any thoughts?

I give newbies a task to complete before giving them dinos.  3 spino sails or a box full of flint, something like that.  9/10 don't complete the task.

I used to give stuff away quite a bit, but got tired of raiding the abandoned bases a few days later to take back my stuff after they quit.

    PS4 - unofficial cluster - Abberration

Continued trapping Reaper Queens in my quest for a Purple reaper baby. And while I was pregnant last night, 3  people logged into the map at the same time.  One of them is "Redneck Wife", who is the same person I gave all of my Valguerro dinos and base to on the old cluster.  Kind of weird to see her join this one too.  I asked her if she was quitting the other cluster, and she said no, jut playing both clusters at the same time.

So I ask them what brings them to Abberration, and they said to get Reapers. So I tell them about my two unlocked Reaper Queen traps as well as the unlocked birthing room next to the trap. I then give them the coordinates.

A few minutes later I notice a person building a trap and base about as close to my base as ARK will allow. (keep in mind this map has only been live for 2-3 weeks, and as far as I know there are only 4 bases on the entire map, with 3 of those being myself, Texas and California. So a very undeveloped map thus far.)

"Umm hello, why are you building a base and trap to close to my base, and you don't need to build a trap, I have two public traps  right over there, you are like 75 yards from it"

Other person : " well there is not much space down here, so we have  to just live with being near each other"

ME: " there is a ton of space, and this is my main base, can't you build farther away, and there is no need for a 3rd Reaper trap in such a tiny area. Just use the public ones"

Rude person: " My trap will be public too, and I'm only building a small base"

Redneck Wife: " Yeah F*** it, we will all have to have our bases near each other"

ME: " really? all of this open space, and you have to build right here?"

At that point I just dropped the conversation, and continued doing my thing. then a few minutes later they stop by my base, asking me to grind some stuff in my grinder, and to craft some element for them in my replicator.  I do this for them, and then they take off, I later get a high level queen trapped and alert them about it in the chat, and that they are welcome to get impregnated from her if they want. Zero response from them.

At this point I was crabby from having these people and their rude behaviour, and I logged off.  I'm afraid to see what they have built when I log in tonight.

You conversationalists are saints.  I'd have just geared up for war and dropped the hammer on them.
