  1. Haven't posted in awhile, so thought I would drop an update.   Lost Island has been a blast.   With the Sino I have been able to drop down from the tek tier and enjoy a little more primitive experience.  The new map has almost all the dinos one could want and is fun to explore.  I was able to find a breeding pair of unusually high level rexes and have been playing with breeding them.   I would never use them in a boss fight as they are too overpowered, but very fun for meat runs.

I was finally able to convince my girlfriend to play with me!  She loves fishing in games, so the valentine's event was easy to convince her to try.   She agreed to every other day now, so I spend one day prepping and planning  and the next day playing with her.  I have played nothing but solo since I started, so having a teammate is a nice change.

  2. So the plan yesterday was to clean up the new base on CI then head to aberation to look for another reaper, possibly with event colors.   But wait,  I finally got the max level mate for my Para, so might as well breed then up quick and see. ( single player, mating rates boosted.)  While they are gestating, I jump on my shadowmane and run through the neighboring desert for some meat.   What do I see around the corner?  150 male giga.   Hightail back to base for trap and proceed to trap, knock out and tame up.  He was actually within render distance of my base.  Got him back to base and checked on the paras.  Twins!   Popped em in the maewing and checked timer.    Plenty of time to complete my meat run that was interrupted.   Just a little farther from base than.the last giga I run into a 145 female giga.  My lucky day.   Sprint back to the base for the dino gates for the trap,  quick imprint on the paras and back out to tame up a mate for the first gig.  Needless to say I didn't make it to aberation, but I have a new breeding pair of gigas to work with!  Paras both got imprinted as well.  Was a good session.

  3. I learned recently that there was a structure limit in a given area.   I set out to make the largest building I could, starting with a 33 x 33 foundation.   Did not get to build as high as I wanted, but ended up with a very nice sized dino storage hall.   Main and top floor are 8 walls high, with a middle floor 4 walls.   Perfect for the upcoming event.   Colors and color mutations galore.  If anyone is curious,  the structure limit is somewhere around 6800 pieces.

  4. Haven't posted in several days.   I've been enjoying the genesis maps.   I have been able to take down the gamma Master Controller, but it was hardly worth the price.   I lost 4 shadowmanes, my yuty and my personal bodyguard rex.(  he was on follow and passive.   Poor guy didn't have a chance to defend himself.   My bad.)  With my newly crafted tek skiff I have been farming genesis drops like mad.  Fun vehicle for sure.

Stepping away from genesis, I took my shadowmane army and a few rexes and completed the valguero fight on all difficulties,   then did the Center on gamma.   I only had one set of artifacts, so was not able to do the other difficulties.  That is the project for this weekend, but it's the last set of boss fights on the dlc maps I have to do so I will be taking my time with the rest.

I'm pretty bummed that not all the missions are available in genesis 2 on the xbox sp.   I'd really like to complete ALL the boss fights, but I'll just continue to farm drops on gen 2,  at least until the next color event.

  5. I was able to find a low level tek stryder with the saddlebags and excavation rig.  What an amazing tame.   I have been making ark daily trips to the space biome and cranking out all the resources.  I also tentatively poked my head into the Rockwell area on gen 2.   Scary place but not overly so.  Had a noggin take over my thyla.   His bites hurt!  I rocketed up to the sky and waited till the noggin fell off.   Not sure if I want to try and tame one as I'm only singleplayer pve,  but there is the achievement....

  6. I finally broke down and got the Genesis season pass.   Gen 2 is gorgeous.   I build up a 2 x 2 shack with the basics,  then transfered back to my main base to craft all the new toys I unlocked.   Made up a tek bow,  tek canteen and some nets for my harpoon gun.   Back to Gen 2.  I then snagged the first decent level r-thyla I could find and started exploring.  The tek bow is amazing.    Searching for the perfect  spot to set up the main base for the map.   So many options.

  7. I have been building up on Valguero.  Working on an ewok tree village.  So far I have 3 tree platforms set in fairly close proximity.  The plan is to connect them all with bridges and zip lines.   Yesterday I made the trek to gather all 10 artifacts in preparation for the boss fights.

  8. Completed Beta Rockwell.   I took in 12 megalos, 2 reapers as bodyguards, my drake and a light pet.  By far the hardest boss fight I've had thus far.   Drake just about died,  light pet did die when I got knocked off my mount, and the megalos wouldn't attack when they were supposed to so I did the entire fight with my shotgun.   Finally got them to attack during the last "round" and they shredded what was left of his health.   I did beta because that gave me the last two engrams I needed.   I think I'll have to beef up the army a touch for the alpha ascension.  Was a blast though.  I was nervous going in, and rightly so by the outcome, but very glad I did it.

  9. Spent a few days on Aberation.  I got all my megalosaurus bred up and are healing up nicely.   Few days of passive healing and they should be ready.  While waiting for them to heal up, I decided to try my luck with a reaper king.   Three versions of a trap and about five wasted queens and I finally got it to work.   Unfortunately it was a level  75 before tame, but I know the process now, and have a good trap built in a good spot.   Named the king Bubba and took him out for a short spin.   Even low level he chomps hard and the health Stat is amazing.   I will go search for a high level next.

  10. Why you never plan to play Ark for just a short period.

I got an early start to my session as I had RL tasks to complete.  I had enough time to run through the jungle cave on Rag for the dermis of the Lava golem.  I  completed my museum build the night before and needed it for the boss room.

So I gear up, leaving all unnecessary gear and ammo behind and head out,  grabbing a fresh Jerboa for sacrifice on the way.  Yup, already headed to the wrong place.   I get about halfway through the labyrinth from memory, the check a guide and realize my mistake.   I proceeded to finish the run and grab the artifacts.

After a quick pitstop at base for some bug repellant I head off to the right location.  On my way to the cave I pass over an isolated Level 145 Yuty.  Noted for later as I had left all my taming gear at base.

The run goes smoothly.  No spawns on the way in and easy to manage on the way out.   As I'm leaving with all my spoils (super high level Theri saddle btw :)) I spot a level 140 Male megalosaurus with a level 145 sabertooth as a companion.

Well now the decision has been made and I jet back to base for taming gear.   Time is running short so I ditch the tranq darts and grab a stack of shockings out of the fridge with the other supplies and head out.  That is important later.

First up is the Yuty, which goes perfectly.    Off to the happy pair I go.   It's daytime when I find the two, so I tranq out the sabertooth first,  kibble up and go to the Megalosaurus.   As I'm shooting him with my trusty longneck, I misjudge the efficiency of the shock darts and end up hitting him once too many.   Quick scramble for some supplies and I get him boxed in.   Add a few Stimulants and things are looking good.   Night was coming and as the torpor still had a ways to go so I retreated to a nearby vantage point to watch.   Distracted by my phone, I heard him wake up and as there was still enough light to see I started to knock him out again.  He went down quick so I dropped to check hunger drain.   Good enough so I threw on the kibble and checked efficiency.  85.6%  I didn't realize he would stand up with torpor?   Anyway, time was very short at this point so I finished the tame, named him Sleepy and headed home.

Never try and play ark for just a short period

  11. Crystal Isles:   defeated the beta Crystal Wyvern Queen.   I took in 10 imprinted blood dragons and a Yuti.   The wyvern were leveled in health basically,  couple odd points into melee.   They did fantastic.   Just a small amount of damage recieved and the fight wasn't terribly long.   For higher difficulties I will dump more points into melee and bring a few more.   I just need to finish gathering some tributes.

Aberration:  continued the search for breeding megalosaurus.  All I needed was a high level male.   The highest I was able to find was a 95.   Tamed it and bred it with my female.   Managed to get a health mutation and a decent spread of stats, so I believe I have my pair.   Let the army breeding commerce.

Extinction:  Went out looking for drops.   All that was to be seen was a blue.   Finished it with the best reward being 200 poly.   Went back to base and logged for the night.

  12. I can't seem to commit to a map.   Spent time on aberation and the center maps the past few days.  Have some ocean platforms set up on the center and have been raising spinos.   I really enjoy the open feeling of the platform base versus my "house" type builds.  Feels refreshing.

On aberation I am continuing the search for the megalo breeding pair, but I always end up getting either distracted with rock drake eggs or getting lost and trying to find my way out.    I really want to get the Rockwell fight under my belt,  but I also have to do the alpha tek cave.  And then there are the boss fights on Crystal Isles and now the Center.  I have barely scratched Valguero as well.   So much to do before Lost Island hits.

  13. I finally did it.  I spent the evening grinding osd's and finally got my Chibi to max level.   It has been a long road,  have been arked out of two almost capped level chibis so far so this is a major relief.    After that I crafted and built up the "throne" room for my extinction base,  along with a shrine to the titans complete with dermis and artifacts.  My outhouse is completely glass enclosed, looking out over the city.   The benefit of playing single player is Noone is around to see me do my business.

I then went to CI and bred up the rest of the blood wyvern for the boss fight.   Just need to level them up.   I decided rather than transferring my yuti from Rag that I need to get another breeding pair from the CI map and get an imprint from one of them.     Then it's time to think about the alpha tek cave...

  14. Extinction:  Putzed around base for a bit,  made a bunch of shotgun shells and tranq darts.

Island:  Went through my stash of trophies.   All I am missing for the alpha overseer is an alpha mosa trophy.  I swam around the ocean on my trusty basi for a couple hours.   Ran both underwater caves and not a single alpha mosa anywhere.  Will have to try again later.

  15. Haven't had the energy to finish off the breeding of blood wyvern for the CI boss fight, so ventured to aberation.   Was able to upgrade the outpost there,  almost can call it a full base now.  Then I ventured down for rock drake eggs.   After getting lost a few times I was able to leave the red zone with  185, 180 and 160 drake eggs.   Hatched up the three,  nothing special for colors,  but one has good weight, another good stam and the third good melee, so I guess I have a drake for any occasion.   Will use one of them to go grab some more eggs soon.   Really wish you could breed them.    Now to start the search for a breeding pair of megalos.

  16. Time has been limited lately.  Had enough time to run an element vein on Extinction and then do some painting on the new base there.  Plan for any upcoming playtime is to look at taming the Titans for the king titan fight.   More nervous to do that than I was to kill them.  Should I craft up a higher level mech or does the normal lvl  51 mek do fine for taming?

I always play my own server or Single Player. So today I decided to run around making sure all the dinos had food, and transfer over a few dinos from the second server because I wanted to use a different map. Still not sure what map to use though. I was hoping for a more sci-fi map but not finding what I was hoping for really. The ones I tried seemed to undone for what I wanted.

Extinction has the most Sci fi feel I've seen,  especially if you are into tek tier.  The ruined city is pretty cool.

  18. Tweaked the CI base a little.  Bred up a few more blood wyvern.   I enjoyed the new location and style so much I went to Extinction and built one there.  I may have gone a little bit overboard on size, but the resources are so easy to get there I plan on doing the majority of my mek, enforcer and tek crafting on that map.   The rest of my playtime was spent moving items from one to the other.

  19. Been upgrading and adding to the CI base,  really enjoying the wood stone mix after being in my metal/tek base on rag.  Have bred up about half of the blood wyvern army for the boss fight.  Getting very eager to see them in action.

Popped back to Rag and bred up a mantis for both CI and Extinction.  Starting to double and triple up on imprinted utility dinos to prevent having to transfer all the time.

Back to the Isles to test out new mantis.   Works great.  Made up a bunch of shotgun shells and tranq darts.  Also, I was today old when I learned that ammo fits in dedicated storage boxes.   Much easier to grab and see what is in stock.

  20. Made up a bunch of kibble,  my egg fridge was full.    Then I did the dreaded follow all whistle in the middle of my base.   After an hour or so of rearranging all my dinos I was tired of looking at the base, so went to CI and built up a base there.  Tamed up a max level spino, two rexes, a bary and a blood wyvern.   Looking for a couple more bloods to start breeding up the boss army for the crystal isles fight.

  21. It was a busy weekend.  Went to CI and farmed up two sets of artifacts.  Took one set back to Rag and did the alpha boss fight after killing off a few spinos and titanoboas for the trophies.  Then I tore down and rebuilt my Para element farm.  Much more efficient design.   Ran a few drops on extinction and found a couple nice colored snow owls to add to the collection.  Metal runs, meat and berry runs.  Then to finish off the weekend I went to The Center and found a couple high level Rex's and a 140 tan colored giga.  Good weekend overall.

  22. So after a mad taming spree on the "last" day of the event I log off to see the event extended.   I'm going to have to make a new base/holding pen for all these colorful dinos.

I decided to do one quick run of gacha breeding before logging off.   1 male and 5 females.   Babies popped and before I had them sorted the gestation timer had started again. (Boosted single player).   Kill off first round of babies and what do I find in second round?  Nor one but a mated pair of element gachas.  Podded em,  killed off the rest and went happily back to base to raise em up.

  23. Yesterday was a good day.   Went looking for event dinos and found several that were at max level.  I believe I have a thyla problem as I tame two or three every trip.   I then added on to the main base on Rag.   Added a nice breeding/hatching room with windows to give the dinos something to look at instead of face to the wall.    One final run for drops before bed and I found a red and black rex to add to my stable.   Low level but it's one more color to work with to add to the line.
