  1. I'm not sure if an update was just pushed to your platform or not, but if that is the case, please give it time to deploy. If your server isn't back up after the usual update time (normally between 15-30 minutes I believe) then report the outage using the following form: http://ark.gg/outage And the server team will look into it. In all cases, the CC is not the place to report nor discuss official servers issues. Thanks!
  2. Seems like you guys will be getting an event after all! → http://arkdedicated.com/dynamicconfig.ini
  3. If you check the mods on both, you may realize they advertise the right one. 🙃
  4. I understand that point very well. But look at it from another perspective; yes, they may be able to get 25 players online at once and initiate a raid. However, for how long? Do you really think these 25 players will play for 24 hours straight? I doubt it. Shortly after, they will start logging off one by one for one reason or another (boredom, real-life obligations, sleep, eat, whatever, etc.) and won't be able to swap right away for other players that are active. So, instead of having big raids of 25vs25 24/7, chances are this change will cause them to average something like 15vs15 that will fluctuate throughout the day. But again, nobody can tell how this will play out, hence why you should wait and see how it goes once it is live. Then, and only then, everyone posting in this thread will be able to make informed claims as to whether this change is bad or not for the dynamic of the servers. This is all I was saying; until it goes live, the only thing we can all do is assume and guess what may or may not happens but the reality is; nobody knows until it goes live. Also, this also means they can't replace hostages you manage to capture.
  5. You know guys, those settings are not set in stone. I'm sure they will monitor how it goes closely and adjust accordingly if needs be. Give it a shot yourselves first before requesting changes, and perhaps you will realize that it isn't that bad after all. Or not, but you won't know until it goes live. I mean, yes, you are affected by that 24 hours cooldown, but keep in mind your enemies are too! That said, the only legitimate concern I can think of, is the fact that character restorations is kicking players out of their tribe and now they might not be able to get invited back with a new character until the next day. Other than that, from a game-play perspective, I'd say nobody can really tell how it will play out just yet.
  6. It is. It was 70% for a short while when it first was released, but has then been changed to 55% years ago.
  7. Your server is most likely part of the announcement they did on Discord few days ago:
  8. The original is the cover of an old game called Turok: Evolution.
  9. Run this on The Island: setplayerpos 255157 247694 -14359|giveexplorernote 868|giveexplorernote 869|giveexplorernote 870|giveexplorernote 871|giveexplorernote 872
  10. At about the same time these improvements were released, an hard-coded multiplier of 1.5x was introduced and is now applied to TheMaxStructuresInRange setting meaning that players can now build 15,750 instead of 10,500 on officials which I have a feeling is completely negating these optimizations to some extent. Not sure if this was added for debugging and profiling or if this was a permanent decision, but is there any plan to revert that at some point? It sure make configuring an unofficial server confusing, as if we set the limit to 100 we expect it to be 100; not 150. They certainly are, thanks for taking the time to elaborate more about that kind of stuff. Keep it coming, I always find it interesting to read! I haven't actively played on officials for quite a while now, but I personally believe it is about time per-tribe limit gets reduced. With the introduction of Cryopods, tribes no longer need 500 tames and it could well be reduced to 2-300 in my opinion. Most tribes used to have hundreds of tames parked on display that they never use impacting everything from networking and save time for everyone. If players want to display their creatures then they can use taxidermy.
  11. You know, duping anything with a crash is next to impossible these days. Unless the server rollback multiple saves, anything you uploaded isn't even saved (hence the upload timer). And even then, pretty sure it would simply result into player's inventory being wiped. I'm not saying it can't happens, but WC have implemented some very efficient counter measures for duping in the past years and they actively monitor everything. People scream dupers whenever their server crash but the reality is that in most cases it's just that; a server crash due to increased rates and overcrowded servers. The same people you believe are dupers, are probably believing that you are. 😉
  12. We keep the food in the fridge, the trash in the trashcan and the server reports/complaints in here. There is not much else we can do, as official servers issues must be reported using the form pinned at the top of this thread. And not merging all of them together really just promote spamming; people going into all the others with "me too, server x too, y also, etc, etc.".
  13. Likely deaths from beginner servers (max level there is 39, before Chibis', rounded to 40 in that graph).
  14. Well, Steam reports ~67k players currently online. Battlemetrics reports ~46k players currently on a server. From that, we can determine that about ~20k players are either on the main menu or playing single-player. It also reports an average of ~9k players on officials in the past week. So, only from publicly available data, we can approximate that, at least on PC, only about ~13% of concurrent online players are actively playing on officials. So, since the enforcement team is only taking actions on officials, I'd say they are not doing so bad. Especially if we take into consideration that ban are their most extreme punishment and that they are also actively wiping tribes, etc. that is clearly not included in that chart.
  15. You realize the majority of these accounts are not even playing on officials, right?
  16. For the same reason people are more inclined to buy stuff they don't need just because the price tag says it's on sale; players are more inclined to farm and tame stuff if the rates says 2x. It's psychological, regardless if the yielded amount is the same. Common trick used to liquidate stuff; price it at $100 with 50% off and you will sell much more than pricing it at $50. Same price, same result, but people will buy so they feel like they are saving, not spending.
  17. Hello, breathing human here. Game Masters can only assist with in-game issues that require administrative actions. If your server is suffering performance issues or any technical difficulties (lag, rollbacks, crash, etc.) then you should report it using the http://ark.gg/outage form so that a server technician can investigate. This is the official (and only) channel to use for such matters. PS: I breathed roughly 10 psi to write this post.
  18. The versioning of the game is <major>.<minor>. Usually, a minor patch means that either the server or the client has been updated with changes that do not affect the other. However, when the update is major, then both have to be updated. For example, if your client is version 300.0, then you cannot join a server that is still on version 299.0, etc. Whether or not your server is up-to-date and your issue is related to something else I have no idea but I simply asked to perhaps point you in the right direction if your server wasn't updated yet.
  19. Is your server up-to-date? This was a major update, so you can't join your server if your client version mismatch.
